I was very happy w/ his class. Expect a lot of debates - keep up w/ current events. His tests aren't bad if you study hard. If you're interested in politics at all I'd recommend him greatly.

Professor Bales is probably one of the greatest teachers I ever had in my life. He makes a difficult class like history, or political science and makes it easy for most people to understand. He tries to make sure everyone knows what he is teaching.

Professor Bales is awesome!! If you're not into History, but have to take it- definitley take Bales. He explains everything and has a great personality. I took him 4 times, and got all A's- and I hate History!!!!

Prof. Bales is definitely one of the BEST professors at this school. I wish that there were more like him to make all our college experiences just a little easier to deal with.

I took Dr. Bales for several classes- he's the absolute BEST!!! I hope QCC knows how luck they are to have him. His text books are always really interesting. He doesn't require you to spit back useless information that you won't remember.

My first college professor, I saw immediately the difference between HS and college. He is a great teacher.

Very good professor who also happens to do stand up comedy. The class is always exciting, thanks to Professor Bales making jokes, and the constant debates going on between students and one another, or the professor. Tests are fairly easy. Great professor.

I was never interested in History, that's probably why I never I did good in this subject. Dr.Bales, is sooo funny, he makes his class a jioke, while teaching. He gives out review sheets, and you know exactly what's going to be on the test. I reccomend him to anybody in liberal arts, who needs this

The FUNNIEST teacher you will ever have. He is so much fun, and he never gives homework. All you have to do is pay attention. He makes history inresting. If you don't wnt to take notes, he will let you use a recorder. MY FAVORITE TEACHER!!!!

I Love this class, he is funny, teaches very well. His tests are decent, not hard nor easy, they consist of a whole lot of true or false questions and short answers and about 2 essays. Overall he is great, i definetly reccomend everyone should take him for this course, he is the best.

Took him over the summer. He gives information containing the material covered in class as well as keep you interested in little facts every once in a while. He's one of those guys that could make history fun, which is rare. Definitely take him. He's open to diversity too.

I love Professor Bales. He is so freaking cute. His classes are so interesting I would actually sit outside classes of his that I wasn't taking just to listen to him lecture. OK, maybe I have a little crush, but he is brilliant. If you have the chance take him and take his class too if you can ;)

Hes an ok teacher. Dont get me wrong but he does take all his work frm the book He bassically reads it in class. He had some funny jokes, though peple did fall asleep out of bordom. He does tak slow, maybe it was just b/c the material was just borin, but he was kool take him if u can. U can get a B

He was an Okay teacher. He's straight forward, nice, but can be extremely boring. His test are straight from his notes and lecture. I am taking his political science this semester, so hopefully he won't be as boring.

Took him in the summer time, this class goes quickly, but since he teaches from the book he wrote its easy to pass his tests because practically everything he says in his lecutres are in the book and on the tests.

He is a great teacher and he clarifies all the materials before giving out a test. The day before the test, he went over every single thing we learned.The good thing is he gives you the same thing that we went over on the test.

Probably the most objective History Professor I've ever had. Not one to allow patriotism to bias his lectures. He clearly has his own thoughts on World History and he's not simply taking it from the textbook. He tells it as it was without softening it or sugarcoating. I wish all my History Professors were as clear-headed as he was.

THis has got to be the best professor on the face of the earth! you leave his class completely understanding american history and loving our countries founding Fathers. You will learn all you need to know with ease and you won't miss a beat. His book is fantastic and great to study from. I reccommend his class and his teaching style.

I had him for most of this semester until he had an accident. So I only had one test with him. He tells you the essay question and the Voc, one week ahead. You don't need to remember dates! He's hilarious. The time goes by so fast cause he makes the class fun.

I took four classes with Professor Bales and would have taken more if possible! Seriously, any class he teaches is worthwhile. Makes the lectures as interesting as humanly possible. Exams are easy--half T/F, half essay (topics given in advance).

Excellent Professor! Very easy going. Gives you all the information you need to know before an exam.His textbook for HI-127 is low cost and he includes humor in it.There's no way you can fail this course. Just show up to class everyday, pass the tests and you're good to go on your way to an A.I am definitely taking him for HI-128.Take him!

This professor is highly recommended to take for social sciences class. He is very clear and understandable. History can be a bit boring sometimes but he tries to relate the material to make you understand the subject better. If you come to class and pay attention you will do well on tests. He's easier than most professors, and teaches better.

i had a 3 hr class with him WITHOUT BREAK and he kept me up the whole 3 hrs. He gets you interested in what he's sayin and he's funny. Come on 3 hrs of history and didnt bore us at all! He prepares u real well for the exams. I always recommend him to all my friends who needs history or political sci & they agree GREAT PROFESSOR!! I took him twice!!

Very pleasant professor...Although I BARELY passed the class (lmao) still, he's very nice and his way of teaching is very unique and different unlike other professors..Overall, I would recommend taking him in the regular spring or fall semester!!!

Great Professor. He explains concepts very clearly, repeats himself when necessary, and makes class fun. His stories are relevant and you won't fall asleep in his class. Pay attention to what he says in class because that is what's largely on the exams - you will need to read the book as well.

Prof. Bales is a very funny guy, american government wasn't at all boring with him. He gives no homework and the textbooks aren't really required because we dont have to bring them to class, i would just go to the library and study from it whenever we had an exam.

He is very clear about his expectations, and is a fair and even lenient grader. Honestly, if you come to class and read the book, there is no reason why you can't get an A.

Bales is a comedian and a great lecturer. His interest in teaching isnt very much, although he will do a superb job at it. His comedy is what keeps him and the class going and hes great if you want an easy A, not if you want a professor who takes any interest in who you are. Try getting him to remember your name after a year

Awesome professor! Extremely nice, helpful and accommodating. 1 of the most genuinely caring professors at QCC. HW is reading from the textbook. Quizzes and tests are straight from the readings and notes in class. Short multiple choice/fill-in quizzes, no midterm, 3 tests, 1 final, 1 short research paper (for writing intensive). He basically reads his notes and talks about history and you write it all down. If you take good notes and do your hw you'll pass no problem

Prof Bales is hilarious. His class is easy and not boring. He gives the essay questions for the test. The only thing i dislike about this class is he doesnt give you review sheet. So basically you have to write down some notes or read his books, then you'll be fine. I recommend you Prof Bales. I think he's awesome.

this guy is the man plain and simple. easy A as long as you study from the book, which is very easy to read and cheap to purchase. Gives you the essays in advance and the true/false is easy enough if you read the chapter. The important terms in the book are all boldfaced so you don't get sidetracked. Professor Bales is an awesome guy! He does whatever he can to help students and makes the test and course almost IMPOSSIBLE to fail. Just write the essay in advance and study it you should be fine. I took him for an intensive summer course and did great, previous to him I failed history twice. But he made the class funny & interesting! Take it!

I actually enjoy reading history for fun, so I could have aced his tests without even showing up. Bales is someone who I would have idolized and adored in high school, but a bit of a joke far as college professors go. He injects his personal politics every 2 minutes, and lectures as if we're all naive teenagers(QCC; can't blame him). Slacker class.

Dr. Bales is one of those fabled professors you always hear people talk about when they say they had a great professor. He cares about the students, his lectures were flexible and adapted based on class discussion. He gave multiple people deadline extensions even to the most absurd excuses because he's not here to fail you but teach you.

Professor Bales is a great guy. After struggling to death with the first history course that I took at QCC, his class was a much needed better experience, an even great one at that! He wrote his own textbook which is so easy and fun to read. I love how his exams are very simple, multiple choice with essay questions that are told to you beforehand

He's a great professor! Honestly for people who hate history take his class you would be surprised he would actually make you like it. Don't get me wrong you have to read also in his textbook that he made to go with the lecture, which is great cause his book has corny puns in them honestly. It's not like a boring history textbook

This guy is awesome. He's everything a professor should be he's nice he's knowledgeable he encourages his students and he's funny too. He tells you what he expects from you. He outlines the essays for the entire class so there is no way you can get a low grade in his class. Being a history major I recommend him he's the author of the textbook used.

Professor Bales is a Good History professor. He is very fair on grading and he uses his textbook, which he wrote. read the textbook, take good notes, write everything he puts up on the board. And two things that are great about his class is that he outlines the essays gives you the answers to them with page numbers and he gives extra credit.

Every single history class iv taken before him i have gotten an F. I took Professor Bales twice, for HI127 and 128 and got a B in both classes. Im not sure how a regular semester with him is but the summer and winter sessions were awesome and super easy. And hes funny too. I actually learned something from him and thats saying alot coming from me.

You must take him he is the best no homework just three test and a final very simple and easy just show up to his class understand and learn what he says and read his textbook thats all you need. Don't miss out on him he is one of the best out of there.

You will have the best experiences in this class. Prof. Bales challenges you to think, analyze, discuss with him and your fellow students in the midst of everybody's attention, and have fun all while doing these things. Highly recommended.

This professor is passionate about History and will try to make you as well. He does his best to make the class funny and interactive. He will really make you work for your grade because there is so much material to cover. The class is a bit long which can fatigue you being a 3 hour long class but he lets you take a break on your own.

The tests are very fair. Despite our political differences, this professor was one of the only professors that actually encouraged me to speak my mind despite having a different viewpoint than everyone else. Participate. dont be one of those students that just sits in the back of the class and acts like a mute.

Great professor, but here are things to look out for: He uses his own textbook (it's free!). He's quite Liberal and will state his opinion a lot. Most importantly, he is a HARSH grader. If you don't explain something exactly how he wants in an essay you'll lose a lot of points. I got all mid 90s, never a 100. Essay Qs are given before the exam.

When I took his course for the first time in the spring semester 2018 I personally think he's a genuine guy who gives good feedback on the essay questions and writing assignment. However you just have to make sure you take good notes and read the textbook provided to understand the lectures he says in each class.

I have to say that Dr. Peter Bales is one of the best professor at QCC. His teaching is clear, FUN and easy to follow if you read his "FUN BOOK" before go to his class. I feel that time flies very quickly in his class. While this short winter semester went to end, I still miss our previous class time a lot because I've benefited so much from him.

Bales is a gem. LISTEN & TAKE NOTES (on EVERYTHING)during lecture, YOU WILL NEED THEM! He outlines the essays in class for exams and lets you know which vocab may appear on the exam. Use notes from the lecture to help write your essays and just go over all the vocab. It is a heavy lecture & he talks alot but he's a funny,sweet guy. No Hw, 4 exams.

Prof Bales is a very nice professor. His class is lecture heavy but he tells you what will be on the exams. The class consisted of 3 exams and 1 paper. He gives ample time for you to prepare yourself so if you fail his class it is because you truly didn't try at all.

I took him in the winter. There was three test. Each test had matching and two short essays. He gives the essay qs and ans beforehand. I used to do a little research over all the points he gave us in the essay and then elaborate them a little bit. For the matching you just take notes of what he writes on board and google them and u will b fine.

If you can get past all the President Trump bashing he does, then he's actually a knowledgable professor who has a lot to offer his students. You will learn a lot !

Easy A if you do stuff no extra credit

Professor Bales is truly one on the best, he gave two exams mostly multiply choice, and two essay question also an essay. he gives the answer in advance, he doesn't have power points or writes on the board it is strictly verbal. only downside is he won't tell you what you missed, you have to ask classmates for their notes. overall he was great

Professor Bales literally might be my favorite professor EVER. He has been better then any professor from even my 4-year and you can't help but love the class because of his passion for history. He is so naturally funny and explains all the topics perfectly. He made me so interested in the 1950s and overall I miss his class so much.

Sounds like alot but all u gotta do is watch and take detailed notes of the lecture and then answer the essay question. hes rlly clear about what points he wants written in the essay and its an easy 100. hes funny and his lectures werent too long either loved him

He's funny, however, very unorganized.If you're like me and need structure I wouldn't recommend taking his class. His lectures often consist of him rambling for the first hour, then spewing out tons of info all over the place. Tests are ok, he kinda prepares you for them, more so the essays. Look out for the first exam it threw off my grade. 7/10

amazing professor!! his lectures are not boring and he is super hilarious. i genuinely enjoyed his class . he gives you the essay questions with the answers before the test . overall great professor. highly recommended.

I liked his class and took him twice. His essays aren't hard, he explains what he wants in them he gives you the answers you just have to write them in your own words. Definitely recommend him

His lectures are pretty long, you get tired halfway through. but I liked his class His exams are pretty much from the lectures, take good notes, and exams are true or false questions. 3 essay questions, you only have to choose 2. He tells you the answers for the essay you just have to write it in your own words. easy class.

I took his summer class so it was naturally challenging, but he's an amazing professor, his assignments are simple and easy to understand. He is really nice and understanding. His class made me understand my issues with writing and what to improve on. I would totally recommend taking Professor Bales.

Professor Bales' HI127 class can be challenging, but engaging with his teaching style pays off. Detailed lecture notes and the free textbook are key. For study prep, ChatGPT and unstuckstudy were super helpful alongside the course materials.

Easy and fun. Spends a lot of time talking about non course related politics but it makes it fun, and sometimes you learn things. Overall you should take him he's caring and genuinely hilarious
