Prof. Blair is GREAT. I had him about a year ago and he remains my favorite teacher. Yes, he's passionate about asian topics but he was in Thailand for 3 years in the peace corps. He's very willing to talk to you outside of class and interested in anything you have to say. I enjoyed the stories he chose and even kept his coursepack. GREAT TEACHER!

Blair is a fabulous teacher, probably one of the best. Very willing to help. He understands his material well and also knows how to teach it very well.

DO NOT TAKE IT. Even at 6 o'clock at night it's to early for this guy. The only people that enjoy the class are the people who are the same age as professor blair, you listen to them talk for 3 hours... that is if u can stay awake. Lots of reading. Hard tests. avoid.

Not a bad course. It was difficult to sit through the whole three hours sometimes, but he's a nice guy and he tries to make it interesting.

Prof Blair is a great prof and a great human being. You won't meet many people in your life as humble and kind hearted. Deeply passionate about Lit. and East phil., and loves for any students to express their opionions and interests in ANYTHING. Read the material thoroughly before each exam and ace the course.

Dr. Blair is probably the best english teacher I've ever had. I learned more in his class about writing than I ever did in my four years in high school. If I wasn't taking English 1102 over the summer, I would definately wait until the spring to take his section of it.

Very nerdy, but in a good way. Likes the class to participate in group discussions all the time. Likes to give out lots of homework assignments too, but if you do the readings you'll be fine. Midterm and final required a good bit of writing, but overall this was a very fun class. Definitely an easy A or B.

Great, enthusiastic teacher! I had his 1920's class and he is totally into this era. Read books and participate (one oral presentation, he likes visuals) and should be able to get good grade

I enjoyed his global connections class. Most of the readings are interesting. However you have to attend class. If you miss class, you will miss test questions. He is every enthusasitic about teaching the subject.

Great Professor

Let's see.... Well all throughout the year me and Dr. Blair had a few issues, he gave me C's on all of the papers, and he didn't know my name all year. But in the end I got a B and that is all that matters! If you like writting then this class is for you... looking for and easy A... then look on!!!

Great teacher. He loves his job and its obvious in the way he teaches. Really smart and actually talks intelligently about literature which not all 1100 english teachers do.

Great Professor. Very into what he does. he makes you want to get into the readings. For papers make sure you show a big change from the rough draft to the final. He's very nice, and always willing to help.

Prof Blair loves to teach but if you're lookin for an easy A, this isn't it. I got C's on all my paper but got a B but I had to work harder than expected. He's a writer himself so he' critiques hard.

He is quite honestly one of the greatest nerds in the world, he takes things that are so mundane yet he makes them work to the point where you WANT to learn about them. Overall the class is easy as long as you study the readings and go to class (cliche I know) but it's just that true, he entertains to the fullest.

Very nice person. He tells us to read a lot but he goes over the rdgs in class in detail. So there is no absolute need of rdg the book. Tests are very easy and he is very experienced and funny. You'd get out of the class refreshed!

Prof. Blair is awesome! I loved taking his class. He is very enthusiastic and charismatic in what he teaches and makes the topics interesting. You do have to study for the class, but if you take the notes and read,it's pretty easy. He's a really great teacher-would take a class of his again!!

Excellent teacher! You are not required to read any books, just interesting essays from the course packet. Really taught me to write with purpose. Blair is enthusiastic and very understanding. Only required to write 5 papers and homework is really quite bearable. PICK BLAIR!!!

He is a very nice professor. He is passionate about what he teaches. He cares for his students. ATTENDANCE IS KEY. If you don't keep up with the reading you will fall behind. The tests are easy and come straight from what you read and talk about in class. Take him.

Such a good ENGL 1103 class. It was easier than I expected because he's so chill and doesn't give a bunch of bs assignments. We'll have had only 4 papers. The HW assignments aren't bad. I've gotten an A and then a B on the first two papers. He loves English, and he's quirky. Take him if you can, it's awesome.

Everyone else in my class loved him. I always felt like he never wanted me to be right. Participate. I think he is a little cheesy and annoying, just my opinion.

TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Dr. Blair is a really laid back guy. Your grade is determined by attendance, short homework e-mails, and six essays. There is no final, only an essay due on exam day. You are allowed four absences. The books are used almost every class period. This class is easy but I got a "B" because I am not good at essay writing.

He is awesome as a teacher as well as a poet. I wish he taught more classes I could take. I highly encourage anyone who's contemplating taking his class to do so.

Great teacher, helps alot with writing, and if you do bad on a paper you have another chance to do it with his help.

Dr. Blair is incredible! His class discussions are lively and intriguing. He assigns interesting and mind provoking prompts for papers. As an advanced English class, it is challenging in a positive and rewarding way. He is a very gifted poet with a lot of insight to offer his students. Would absolutely take more classes with him in the future!

His class is fairly easy compared to other English 1103 classes I've heard about. He's very passionate about literature and writing, which provides for lively class discussions. I've always hated English, but it decreased a little bit because of this class. Sign up for him if you can.

Dr. Blair is a great professor. He can be a little goofy sometimes but it makes the class very fun and interesting. He is very passionate about the things he teaches; anyone can tell that he is happy to be there.

Well, he is so goofy sometimes the whole class would laugh and he would never guess why haha. This is a difficult class, however there is NO FINAL. Just turn in all the essays from the year. He grades tough, but holds your hand all the way through. I would take this if you really want that advanced english credit it is worth it.

He is a really fun teacher and you can tell he is VERY enthusiastic about English. He doesnt grade too harsh, and he doesnt grade the prewriting at all. He gives you feedback on the rough drafts and I made at least a B on all the final papers. I would definitely recommend him!

He is an AMAZING teacher. So enthusiastic about the material that I couldn't help but smile every class period. I had him for his Asian Global Connections class as well, and that is still to date the best class that I have ever taken at UNCC. Get to know him, too! Such a great guy!

Great professor, really interested in what he teaches and relates it to modern times. Tests can be a bit tricky, but you can allowed to miss one test or he will drop your lowest test grade. This was my favorite lbst class at uncc

I am always hesitant about English Professors because they all grade so exams so differently. I took him for ENGL 1103 and absolutely loved him! He is very quirky, but is so positive and always so welcoming when he arrives in class. If you have a chance to take him, definitely do! He's awesome.

Had him for Global Connections. Go to every class, do the extra credit, look over material for test, and you'll be fine. He's not a tough professor if you pay any attention. Pretty easy tests, except the final. He's extremely enthusiastic and fun to learn from. I enjoyed it a lot, adds a little character to a lbst class.

Dr. Blair is easily one of the top 5 educators that i've ever had. He was extremely enthusiastic about the topics and somehow made reading and writing extremely fun and captivating. Take this class! It isn't too hard and he will make it enjoyable. He is funny and builds personal relationships with each student

I had him for English 1103 last semester, and I loved it! English and Math have always been my two weak points, but I made an A in Dr. Blair's class, and was always excited to go. As long as you do the journal entries that he assigns each class and actually try on your essay's then you will be fine. Take him!

Freakin' awesome! As long, as you bring a positive attitude to class, you'll immediately take notice of Blair's passion and enthusiasm. He's extremely helpful and wants to bring the best out of everyone. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Blair is always smiling and is so sweet and friendly! His class can actually be pretty dull and he doesn't leave much room for you to get in any word, but he grades fairly easy and is always willing to do what he can to help you. But only take his class if you can handle crazy!

He's super nice and is really in it to help the students. He loves his job, and loves to talk. He really wants his students to like him. Really nice guy.

Assigns homework every night but mostly checks it for completion. All of the readings he assigns from the textbooks are available online, so you don't necessarily need the books. He assigns 3 big papers, start them earlyish and follow the Toulmin model he gives you and you will make an A on each of them. Try to talk at least once in each lecture.

Professor Blair is by far one of the best professors i've ever had! He assigns homework every class but its just reading something and answering, you'll get a 100 if you just do it. He assigns 3 hard papers and doesnt use moodle, but hell be happy to tell you how you're doing if you ask! You also get to watch Poetic Justice and some other movies!

Expect homework every night of class. He never lets class out early and he hasn't cancelled class once. Blair makes it interesting but staying on top of your work is required in order to get a decent grade.

Dr. Blair is a really great professor and although his homework can be a bit tedious and boring, he really does care about writing and making sure that his students succeed. He is a very nice guy and you can tell that he's passionate about what he does. There are assignments about the readings due each class and then 3 actual papers, which are submitted in a portfolio at the end. A little rigorous if you aren't fond of writing.

All his assignments relate to each other as he assigns them. Very nice and relaxed, but a little awkward at times. Likes participation but will not pressure you at all.

Professor Blair was without a doubt the best teacher I had this semester. He was excited and prepared for every class and discussed things very in depth, always making outside connections to make things easier to understand and a lot of fun to discuss. However, be prepared to be called on to answer open ended questions and be pressed to be in depth

The class was pretty straight forward but a little too get in touch with your feelings for me. Participation is huge! He loves feedback and discussion. Class was super casual and laid back and he was pretty flexible if you had any issues or time conflicts. He definitely cares about his students!

Dr. Blair provides great insight and has encouraged me to keep writing again. A true scholar. Main focuses are reading, poetry and a selection of essay writing. Enjoyed the quirky class. Heavily recommended.

Dr. Blair was my favorite teacher by far however, he does make you work for the top grade. During class discussion, it shows that he truly loves what he's doing when he reads passionately making writing come to life.

Professor Blair made the class interesting despite me not being fond of writing. He's so passionate about what he does and really wants his students to dive deep into the things we learn in class. There is a large amount of reading and writing for homework, but it's not impossible. Loved this professor and the energy he brought to the classroom!

Good professor. Very passionate, so it makes class pretty interesting, even if you have no interest in writing. The majority of your grade is based on the 3 papers in the class, so make sure you put adequate effort into them.

Very passionate professor. He is obviously very into writing, and he loves sharing this passion with the students. I am definitely not a writer, but he made a boring subject somewhat interesting. It was honestly just nice knowing that he actually cares about his students and teaching. Make sure you go to class and do the homework journals.

We always had interesting discussions and lectures. I am bad at writing so this class wasn't my favorite though. There is a fair amt of homework but is graded on completion. He cares for his students and guided us step by step through essay writing (3 each semester), just put effort into them. I definitely have improved as a writer after his class.

Professor Blair was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed his discussions in class. He wants everyone to be involved, but he does not put a lot of pressure on his students to talk. The textbook is more like a packet, which is not bad to read. The homework is not that bad, but you really should keep up with it. I recommend him for your UWRT class!

Prof. Blair was a wonderful teacher that will help you pass if you put your part in too. All he wants is your attention in class and show that you are somewhat dedicated and he will do his best to pass you. He is willing to give extensions too even on the final portfolio as long as you are in good standing with him. He grades fast and accurate too.

This course was online but I would have loved to take his class in person. He wasn't tech savvy so it can be slow. But he is dedicated to his job and assigns many hard and long papers, but these can be fun to write if you choice the right topics. Overall I loved this class even throughout the boring lectures he had at the end.

He is really understanding and offers help when you need it. Be prepared to read and write a lot. Easy A class definitely worth it.

He has so many assignments it is extremely overwhelming. I see a lot of good reviews but I think that's because he is a very nice guy. He is understanding and everything but he is also a really hard grader. I would take him again in an in-person environment.

Dr. Blair was one of the most caring professors. His course was super easy but it did require some reading and a lot of writing. Since it was an online course, attendance was mandatory. Just show up to class and do your homework and you should pass the class.

Honestly the best professor at UNCC. Loved his class, he's a great lecturer and really gets you to engage with what we're doing in class. Really caring and understanding, fun to talk to,would take late work with no penalty, and gave great feedback both in class and on assignments. Also was great at explaining what he was looking for on assignments!

Amazing professor, his lectures are super dynamic, and he really helps you when you have questions. A wonderful professor and an overall respected man.
