Gets material accross very clear. Tests are difficult and it is hard to predict what will be on them.
Not an easy teacher, but goes over material very well. Gives you hints on what might be on the exam and you must read the articles he assigns. If you go to class everyday you should be fine.

This guy is HORRIBLE!!!.. took him for summer and hes not helpful at all.. treats students bad and has his favorites.. highly not recommended..
He is very clear when it comes to explaining things. His test are pretty difficult, but he does scale the grades to give you a fighting chance at getting a good grade.
Difficult
Very hard. Difficult to understand, and he has a poor grading system.
Hard to understand. Difficult grading system. Always asks what in every sentence he makes, even if its irrelevant...mmmmmkay
Not an easy teacher. I had go to his office to discuss material and barely squeezed by with a C. I think he felt bad for me. But you must go to class!
You MUST be in class every day to pass exams. Grades based solely on exams. Final is not cumulative. If you are in class every day, there is no reason you should fail.
If you are interested in learning how the economy works- I highly reccomend him! If you just want some credits, this is not your class. I enjoyed his class & learned a lot.
sucks sucks sucks...
Very challenging class but you learn alot, not for you stupid community college retards that expect to screw around and pass. You need to show up every day and take good notes and study and you'll do fine. He explains everything thoroughly. The tests are hard but i don't know why people say the grading system sucks, probably because theyre dumb.
This guy sucks as a teacher. The material is easy, but the tests are all trick questions. He is like Mr. Macky saying mmmkay and always says what. every other word is what. If your not a teacher pet your done. The person below me is a pet or Lopez himself. Nice guy and kind of funny, but overall, Lopez you suck
HE SUCKSSSSSS
Boleman's Econ-7 or 8 classes are tough, but he explains the material very well. To all students take good notes and participate in the class. Read all the handouts, articles, and assign chatpers. The exams are tough so study as much as possible. Boleman is very helpful to all students, just ask for assistance.

freakin ridiculous. 2nd time takin him. you would think it would be easier. nope. still the same crap... too bad there isnt any other macro/mirco econ teacher on campus, cuz i definitely advise not to take him
Just like the comment at the end, this guy talks like Mr. Macky saying mmmkay and always says what. Asks what? after every word/sentence. I would get so distracted with his way of talking. Econ is hard. Too bad that there is no other instructor at this campus who teaches Econ. Tests are multiple choice, essay questions that need graphing. Good luck
The worst teacher i have ever had. I have had hard classes, but this guy doesn't even care to help students. Like everyone else, i thought that all the comments that people put must contain a little exageration, but they are all true! DO NOT TAKE HIM!
I was very interested in this class but his way of presenting his personal views in economics and politics turned me down right away. He is one sided and not fair in teaching one side of the issues, while trying to ridiculize the other.IF YOU WANT TRUTH LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Taking this class over summer. Gives great examples. He gets distracted if you walk in late, so be on time. Tells you exactly what to study for exams. EASY CLASS if you read the material! Very approachable and willing to help with anything you ask him for.
This teacher was great! He was so helpful and made learning economics fun. I loved his "any questions" and his "whats", very funny! I also have to say i loved his class because i met my beautiful girlfriend there, and we are still together! Thanks Mr. Lopez!!!07
Boelman is the WORST teacher I've ever had!!! I am a student with a 3.5 GPA and this is the first class I DID NOT pass even after hard work and a tutor. Boelman was NEVER willing to give extra credit. That class was a bunch of ****. A dam 16 week class and all we had was FOUR tests. No homework, quizes, or extra credit to help your grade!!
He's good. He makes students learn. He's helpful, but he's not easy. However, you can get A if you understand the materials. Don't be afraid to take with him.
At first I found it humorous, but then very distracting that he wants you to finish every other one of his sentences. Quizzes online are very easy if you go to the website of the textbook to study for them. His tests cover a large amount of material. He likes putting you on the spot in class to do problems. I will not take him again.
this guy sucks he does not like to help it is a 16 week class with 4 test thats it no other work or extra credit to help out your grade dont take him
Ehhh...he's ok. One of those professors right in the middle. Don't go out of way to take him, but if you need to you won't be too upset. Tests are pretty much all of your grade and they are fairly difficult. Probably want to show up to class most of the time. Stupid-difficult T/F q's. If you know it, you know it, trick questions are not necessary
I had no interest in this class before taking it, but the teacher is helpful if you are unclear of any terms or concepts, You do need to come to class because he actually remembers peoples names & faces! Suggestions: take good lecture notes & study terms before the quizes.
this guy is very confusing and boring!! there's no homework or quizzes. His test are very difficult and tricky(each test consist of 4 essay questions and very difficult t/f question) i failed the first 2 test and i had to drop out!! says " what's" in every other sentence. very distracting!! so its more like fill in the blank class. BORING!!
Very informative class! Only four test, no homework, and a few online quizes. He gives you two chances on the quizes and uses your best score. he is knows what he is talking about and pre warns you of everything on the tests. He also grades very fairly. I left his class interested in Econ.
As many others have said before "good luck". This class is tougher then it should be. 4 test no homework. If you bomb one test you are done. He does grade on a curve, half of the T/F and MC are trick questions. You have to attend every class or you will be lost. 14 questions for around 3-5 chapters. He is ok. My first non A in my college career.
Boelman is a great teacher. Attend class and participate. Don't slack off, actually study, and ask questions during office hours and you'll find this class to be a piece of cake. And on exams, he allows a note card. Oh, and he's hott too!
No busy work, just 4 test but no surprises. If you have questions he is willing to help at his office or e-mail. So go to class, take notes, and study. You'll do fine.
I took him for 7 & 8 so I got confused sometimes. Got a C in 8 and a B in 7. If you study you can pass his tests. Allows notecards on tests. The only annoying thing is he says "what" for every other word. We had a what counter in class and he said it about 350 times in 1hour. Studying is the key, he uses lots of graphs! No mult. choice tests
after reading all these negative comments about him i was nervous to take his class...but its not even bad. he's a good teacher. if you put in the effort you'll do fine and actually learn. if you're a slacker then dont take his class. he allows a notecard on every test and you dont need the text for his class.
Everyone is way to hard on this guy. He's really nice and straight forward. He lets you know what he expects from you and what he lectures is exactly what is on the test. Advice to you is not to miss very many classes because good notes is key and read the articles he tells you to.
Pretty cool guy was always willing to help students and was willing to go over stuff always. If I needed to Id take him again. It does help however if you have some econ background, but then again that goes for any course that you take
This guy can sometimes be annoying with his fill-in the blank type teaching. But really if you get past that fact; he is a great teacher. Gives simple examples and his tests are directly from his notes. Gives 4 tests and no surprises in this class. While not my favorite class I did learn a good deal from taking it.
the worst teacher ever. you try to chime into a debate or turn around to listen to what someone said and you get suspeneded for the third time that it happens
He's a great Econ teacher. Gives lots of examples, wants you to understand what you're doing and his class is fairly easy... 4 exams, each exam is worth 25% of your grade, gives you a bit of extra credit here and there. He's boring at first but surprisingly he grows on you after awhile. 1-10, I'd give him an 8. Just make sure you study for theExams
Pretty difficult. I took him based on the other comments and he put me to sleep every class. If you're into Economics prepare youself because he butchers the subject.
This class will be difficult if you don't show up to every class or study; otherwise it is a piece of cake. There is no homework and four tests. He allows a notecard for each test that you take. You must read the articles he assigns because they are worth a huge chunk of the test grade. I got an A just by attending lecture and taking good notes.
i really liked this teacher; he actually teaches. He always has people take him for both 7+8 so that must say something. Read the articles, take good notes, pay attention (the crap ur supposed to be doing anyway) you'll do fine!
show up for every class. everything on the tests comes from class. take notes and dont miss class and you should get an A. Articles are important, if you dont read and understand them it will drop you a full letter grade on the exam.
wow... i would not have taken this teacher if i didnt have! he is kind of a jerk and he is not that helpful at all! you have 3 exams plus final no homework ...makes it hard for you to ask him for help or examples yet he puts you on the spot and expects you to go up to the board and do problems! yeah jerk pretty much sums it up. take him if u have 2
The first week of class, I actually said,"I hate this class" out loud! But I ended up loving it and got an A! I took the next one that he offered just for fun. It is definitely a challenge, but I think the professor does a great job!
He is not that bad! He says "what" after every sentence and sounds monotone, but at least he isn't a bad teacher. There is graphing in this class and everyone will eventually go up to the board or answer a question. He allows a note card for exams. Whatever he emphasizes in lecture is what will be on exam.
The absolute worst professor I've taken at RCC to date. Completely unmotivated to help, and if you ask questions then he'll look at you with a face of disgust like you shouldn't be in his class asking questions. Definitely the worst professor I've had in the past two years at RCC. Very disappointed he is the only one teaching Econ at Norco Campus.
Boelman is overall an ok instructor. 3 exams and a final which is like another exam. Each test contains 5 multiple choice, 5 true/false, 2-3 graphing problems and 1 article short essay. MUST ATTEND CLASS. Practically everything is contained in the lectures. He takes role daily and puts you on the stop the next day if you were absent.
Great teacher. As long as you take good notes, participate in class, and show up for class, you'll do great. Let's you take a small note card with your hand written info on it for the tests. He asks questions, ending in "what", that aren't intended to be answered. As long as you write down everything he puts on the board, you shoud get an A or a B
Fact No.1: He is boring, says "what" too often, dry, serious, etc... Fact No.2: You need the textbook to study and take extra notes (which he allows you to bring with on an index card EVERY EXAM!)... Fact 3: If you take notes, study a bit, show up to every class... You'll do completely fine! Recieved a B and that was showing up but hardly studying
Not exactly an easy A, but put in the effort & you'll do fine. Grade is based on 4 tests, which are based on lecture. Show up everyday, take decent notes, do a lil review & you'll get an A. He allows a notecard to use on the tests! Don't buy the text books! However, you MUST read the articles, but you can copy/read them in the library for free.
Boelman teaches economics using relevant case studies and anecdotal information. I purchased the book for Econ 8 and didn't for 7. Earned a B for both. Notes, participation, & reading the articles are the key. I also watched other professors' lecture on YouTube when learning about aggregate supply and demand. Bottom line you have to do the work.
Very good. He is engaging, clear and knowledgeable. The grading consists out of 4 exams and an extra credit. The tests are relatively hard, that is, in comparison with the other classes I took at RCC; however, they are fair. There is a plenty of opportunity for discussion during the lectures, which makes them interesting. I strongly recommend him.
hE WS AN AWESOME TEACHER WTH VERY LITTLE HOME WORK.
the first few weeks of this class was annoying because he asked the most random questions that sometimes dont even make sense-and i found myself answering quietly to myself toward the ending weeks of the class... its really weird and really hard cuz you have to be there every day and study. it sucked for me, but i got a b
unfortunately, i have to take this guy again for my other eco class this semester. i hate his fill-in the black type teaching, and his "mmm-kays." i just laughed to myself when i sat through the first class this semester, it was all too familiar, not a bad class, just not a great style of lecturing.
HE was a great teacher and if you went to the class and actually engaged in the discussions it was easy to understand! The tests are a little difficult but if you show up to class they aren't that hard! There is no homework assigned but reading and participation is a must to get a good grade!
Took Econ 7 and 8 with him. His style of teaching isn't the greatest, but it actually helped me remember the material because I would answer all his "what?" questions. lol. If you happen to be stuck on something or need him repeat part of a lecture, talk to him after class, he'll be more than happy to help. He also has a good sense of humor.
His class is not easy, but if you have critical thinking skills (like you should in college) you can get an A on the exam just from his lecture notes. It helps to read the book to hear the material worded differently but taking notes on lecture is the best method. And he is actually helpful allowing for office time & anytime you have questions
Really easy class. He lets you use a note card for exams. Read the assigned articles, the questions about them require basic analysis and some facts. He gives lots of worksheets, that are VERY helpful as his exams are similar to them. If you are lazy
all i can say is... what? mmmmmkay...... hahahha he is mr. mackey from southpark. totally.. mkayyyyyyy.
Teacher knows his stuff, tests are kind of hard but if you study you will do good.
Super easy class. No busy work or homework. 4 exams graded on a curved scale. Lets you use a notecard for every exam. Took econ 8 and now in his 7 section.
funny great teacher. his test are based on the lectures and you really don't need to read the book at all just show up to class and take notes.really great a +++++++++
Very helpful and makes everything clear du you can get the point fast ...u have to study and then u get points ...great teacher
THE BEST TEACHER I'VE HAD SO FAR!!! He is helpful and fun. You know exactly what to expect for each test. TALK IT UP in class, he loves interaction, it will push your overall grade up in the end. He is kind, so don't be afraid to ask him for hints on the tests or a note card of notes for the test. I HIGHLY recommend him. Take during a short term
hes a great teacher, very clear with his expectations. no busy work. if you do not go to class you will miss out on very important stuff. exams are on what he taught in class. He loves when there is participation from students.very easy going and willing to help. I would definately recomend him.
No study guides, and class is based on four tests, you must study.
The prof makes this boring subject much easier to understand. Its necessary to take good notes and make sure you understand the material taught in class. Gave us a notecard for tests. Tests based on whats taught. Text is horrible to read. You only need Annual Editions. He gave us some extra credit as well to help out.
He's a pretty good professor. Class is based on 4 tests but he lets you have a notecard to make it a little more bearable. He also gives out worksheets to use as a study guide. So sad that I had to drop his class but I am definitely going to sign-up for his class again in the fall.
Professor Boelman actually gets to know his students and learns everyone's name. He doesn't hesitate in reviewing material but expects you to speak up when you need help. He provides clear examples for what he expects on his test and also lets you use a notecard, front and back, for his exams.
One of the best professors I've had. He really makes the subject mater interesting and easy to understand as long as you pay attention and attend class. On the test questions are based on lecture so you don;t really need to raed the book. You DO ned to read the Articles assigned though. 4 tests with a notecard to help.
makes the material easy to understand. I never thought I would find economics interesting but I did! Attendance is vital though because the tests are pretty much based on lectures and the worksheets he gives. DO THE WORKSHEETS they are so helpful for the tests. Make sure you so them prior to review so he can answer your questions.
He knows his stuff. Really relaxed learning environment. Need to buy all the books, really nice guy. No homework, just test. You have 4 test including your final. I took him over the summer. It is possible to pass his class with an a, as long as you understand the work you should be fine. Oh he grades on a different scale 100-85:A 84-72:B 71-65:C
Boleman prepares you for university level courses. His classes are just lecture and exam. His exams are hard and are fair game from all the lecture/readings but he does give you a notecard to use. He expects everyone to participate and randomly calls on students. That being said, he makes concepts easy to understand and has a good sense of humor.
Although the class is hard, he teaches very well, and better than the book explains it.
This class is pretty difficult. If not for his grading scale, I would have gotten an F. But he is very helpful and knows his stuff. Only gives 4 tests, and possibly an extra credit assignment. He knows his stuff. Be sure to take good notes because he only tests on lecture material.
Mr. Boelman is not easy. Don't expect to slack off and get a decent grade, you HAVE to study, you have to pay attention and you HAVE to show up to class or you'll miss out on a lot. He knows his stuff and expects you to perform to your best. However, he's a great teacher, explains clearly and doesn't assign too much HW, 4 tests, I passed with a B.
He is by far the best professor I've had at either campus! His class is hard and the grade consists of 4 exams and possible extra credit. You HAVE to attend class. He makes it very interesting, knows his stuff, and he's funny! Be prepared to be called on and have to do graphs on the board...
I loved Mr. Boelman's teaching this year, although some may disagree with me. I felt that he kept everything easy to understand and relevant, and I never cracked open my textbook once. I feel like the people who did not take advantage of the extra credit and review are the people who dislike Mr. Boelman.
Prof.Boelman may seem hard at first, but he IS really nice. He's willing to help if you ask. Grade based on 4 exams and possibly one extra credit. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT! It will definitely help! He will give a note card to use for each exam, which is not cumulative. Lecture may be a little boring. You have to study to get a good grade tho.
Took him for econ 7 & 8. He's a great professor. He tries to come off as a tough professor, but I think it's to scare us into really putting our best into the 4 exams. He has a good sense of humor, good knowledge of economics and you get a notecard to use on the exams...you can write anything on them. Take Boelman, you won't regret it!
great teacher! i did not know anything about economics and i can honestly say i learned a lot from his lectures. the textbook is not really necessary except for the articles book. your grade is based on 4 tests worth 100 pts with 5 t/f ?'s, 5 multiple choice and 3 to 5 word problems. he lets you use a 4x6 note card which makes the tests much easier
Boelman is a great teacher. Took him my first semester here for Econ-7 and as long as you are in class and take notes, then make a good note card for the test you're good. Didn't buy the book for Econ-8 because he's so clear in his lectures. And his tests are very consistent and once you get used to them you can start to expect what's on the them.
Boelman is good at what he does. He gives a clear and precise lecture & expects you to get everything he said in his lecture. He will put you on the spot if you got picked by him. Thats who he is. He's a gr8 professor. Make sure you ask if anything you dont understand. He will love to help you understand more in depth. Overall, Best Professor ever.
Boelman gave very clear lectures and had a clear course schedule. There are no surprises or pop quizzes. Not a class you can barley study to get an A. You get the grade you deserve. You'll learn a lot.
His class is pretty easy as long as you attend class. His lectures are clear so don't bother buying the book, I did and I never once used it. Plus you can find it online. He loves calling out people and having them come up to the board. His call and response game gets really old really fast. And you get a note card for the test.
He has a tendency to question what he says which makes it confusing to follow. For example, "definition of investment: to... WHAT?... To put your time and money into WHAT?" He asks as if we should already know everything. Day before tests he asks if we need clarification or pointers on the test. His response: know everything. HE DOESNT CLARIFY.
I took him for Eco7 and Eco8 in the same semester and passed both with an A. If you come to class and do the work he assigns, you will pass. Studying is a must! He likes to call out the people who did not do the work or are not paying attention. He's a tough grader and expects you to know the material but you will actually learn a lot in his class.
Hardest subject, I dreaded this class. You have one or two short reports on current events that are about 5 minutes each you have to present to the class. Total of 4 quizzes that you need to study for. Expects you to understand after he shows you one problem. He will call on everyone sometimes having to go up to the board to show how you did it.
Professor Boelman is tough. Your whole grade consist of 4 exams and one extra credit assignment. However, his lectures are awesome and he is willing to help the students completely understand the subject. He is VERY fair when grading and grades on a curve. Take him if you want to learn
By far the most bogus class I've ever taken. I don't understand he has such a high rating. You have to DIG for information, he expects you to understand all the material after explaining it once. Teaches off record from the textbook so you have no where to look for reference. He is the worst nit-picker on tests, 1 word wrong can cost your test 25%
He tends to say "what" alot, but once you tune that out, he's a great professor. I took him for winter and to some people it might be tough because your whole grade is based on 4 tests. He's not going to spoon feed you, you have to take notes and listen. Take good notes and his class isn't hard at all.
if you have a hard time taking exams that are based on you understanding concepts vs being a study guide memorizing then you will struggle to stay alive with that C. the multiple choice is literally impossible to study for he picks the most random questions you would ever think to study for so pray you do amazing on the word problems like i did.
Tests are extremely easy. Required studying is two days before the test. Take notes in class and never miss. Do the one and only extra credit assignment. Do not buy the book regardless of what he says. Study what you take notes on in class and you will be able to pass with an A easily. He also curves if you some how mess up.
wow! TAKE GOOD NOTES!!!!Boelman explains lectures good but the class is only based on 4 exams which makes it really challenging.. he is really getting your ready for UC/CS Read all chapters... he likes to pick on people for answers
Personally I found this class extremely difficult. He is a.. knowledgeable person, teacher, not so much. 4 tests for your your grade, good luck.
I took my Micro and Macro with him. Great professor. Never relies on powerpoints, which i personally despise. No homework assignments in Macro or Micro, just one extra credit assignment he gives on a random day, SO DONT MISS CLASS. 4 tests, no cumulative final, notecards on every test. Also has a weird grading system that makes a 76B and 62C
He is a good professor, his lectures are his version of the book. If you know how to take notes you will be fine. I went off my lecture notes for every exam and barely touched my book, however his multiple choice questions are difficult, very tricky! so make sure you really understand the material.
Prof. Boelman is passionate about econ. His tests are difficult, yet all the information you need to study on is on his lectures so pay attention and take really good notes. Reading the book as well can help to understand the material better. It's college, so studying your butt off is a must. Though I found econ tedious, I did learn a lot.
Winter Eco 7 and it was a great class ! Yes you will need the book and the software that comes with it for an 8 week class. His lectures are clear and to the point. He grades tough on the exam but there are only 4 of them. Yes, you will have to go to the board at times to show your work. If you miss class you will be lost ! It was a long 8 weeks.
the type of prof that likes to hear himself talk through the whole 3hrs of class. No PowerPoints, assignments, videos,HW,quizzes, study guide or worksheets. Very broad and ambiguous on what's on the test. Will like for you to know everything from 4chaptersbut only asks 14 questions on the test. Each worth 4-15pts. The whole grade depends on 4 exams.
Only 4 Tests, 2nd test is the hardest. *MAJOR KEY ALERT* (You have to record his lectures and play them back if you want to pass!)
3 - 4 exams the entire semester make up your grade. He's also very sarcastic and makes you feel stupid for asking a question. He also does this thing where he asks a question and answers himself within the same breath. I counted once and he did it 44 times in one class.
Super rude. I have to retake this class but I'm going to drive to RCC campus just so I don't have to take him again. I never felt so lost in a class before and scrutinized for not knowing the material instantly.
His lectures are clear and concise. Make sure to take detailed notes as his lectures really help you understand the material for tests. I found myself making small silly mistakes on exams, so make sure to double check your graphs. If you're having trouble, don't be afraid to email him or visit him during his office hours; he is very helpful!
Don't miss a day, take really good notes, ask questions on what you don't understand because it might be on the exams. Watch a lot of YouTube videos on economics. Grades hard on (4) exams and it's really upsetting at times. If you don't take this class just go to the Riverside campus because he is the ONLY Economics teacher on the Norco Campus.
P. Boelman is a great professor. If you're looking for an easy A, this isn't the class. But if you're looking to really learn the material & prepare for upper division classes upon transfer, he does just that. Write down as much as you can from the lectures, go to office hours -- getting an A is hardwork but very doable.
Grading is based on 4 tests. He does give one extra credit assignment that significantly helps your grade. Also, on the test he lets you use a large note card that you can write anything you want on. Take good notes and READ THE BOOK and you will be fine. The class is not too difficult if you stay on top of things just don't procrastinate.
You'll only be graded by 4 exams, one extra credit and it won't help.
Only econ teacher at Norco. I suggest you take this class somewhere else.
Multiple choice questions are tricky, so you need to understand your note, test is based on note. Take good note, and he give us a big notecard to the test,do the extra credit, you can get an A.
I took Boelman for econ 7 and 8. He makes it clear and easy to understand, just take notes on what he writes on the board and learn the definitions. He says you need the book but you really don't. Be sure to not miss class though. Once you do, it's very difficult to keep up. Don't take 7 and 8 at same time - they're too similar
Hated the fact that this guy doesn't accommodate students that aren't the best test takers like myself. Class is based only on 4 hard exams and pointless extra credit that'll maybe bump your grade 3%. Currently taking it with someone else in riverside and doing much better.
With the online book it highlights parts of the book that you should read to understand the entire chapter and gives you questions for each chapter to study. Its quite useful if you dont do well with lectures and will help you understand what hes saying in his lectures.
Professor Boelman is a decent choice for an Economics professor. However, he is the only economics professor at Norco College. His classes comprise of 3 midterms and 1 final. He does give out homework, but none of it is graded. Your grade is based on the 4 tests. Essentially, there is less room for messing up, so, showing up to class is crucial.
Worst teacher in Norco College ! All he does is read the workbook. He likes to pick on students and ask them difficult questions. Not worth your time !
I understand in college and your suppose to read the textbook and review your notes. But this teacher's teaching method is so weird. Instead of teaching, he ask the class questions. And every time he teaches he always falls asleep. If the teacher thinks the subject is boring, then how else do you think the student will enjoy it ?!
Hardest class ive ever taken because of his tests!theyre hard&tricky. You lose points over silly mistakes, you dont need the book, its at the library, take notes of EVERYTHING he says. Hes knowledgeable&very helpful tho, knows his stuff. If his tests werent so hard i would take him again. Hes also strict about being on time! 1 min lateabsent!
I don't want to sound hypocrite but I was pulling myself to class. There is a difference between independent study and can't teach. This teacher CAN'T TEACH ! Everyday he walks in like he hate his job. He sound like he is about to pass out when he teach ! If this is the type of teacher they hire at NC, the employer has problems !
I learned SO MUCH from this class that i feel like an econ major myself! He goes into detail, his tests are difficult, its not an easy A, u really have to work hard for a good grade. Book is expensive but you dont need it! I enjoyed his class!
This teacher is straight up lecture. He will not hold your hand period ! Your grade is based up 4 test. 25% each. Note cards allowed on test. But here's the thing you screw up on 1 test, BOOM, your grades goes from an "A" to "C" No room for mess up. Tip: ALWAYS REVIEW YOUR NOTES BEFORE AND AFTER CLASS !!!!!
Extremely boring class. I was thinking sticking around until the end of term hopefully it will get better. Nope, its worse. No discussion, straight up lecture ! Whats funny is that when during first day of Spring 2019 it was a full class. 1 month later 1/2 of them left. Take with someone else. Save yourself
Doesn't check papers well
He doesn't do any power-points so its all word of mouth. Pretty chill but come to class ready to focus, no distractions. Test are difficult but lets you use your note card as a reference. overall, he's great. I learned to copy fast because he speeds through lessons at times
Hes a really great professor. He makes sure that students understand the material. Hes accessible outside of class. Since our class got moved to the online format, he tried his best to help the students. He continued to do zoom sessions and gave us practice work.
Peter is an excellent professor. He provides you with power points and a lot of useful information that if you read, you will be ready for it. Class is complicated and confusing occasionally. Don't miss any homework because if you do, you will probably not make it. A lot of exams and a lot of reading. Overall he is an excellent Profesor!
I took ECO 7 and 8 online. The only "con" I guess would be no zoom meetings ever. That being said, you have to read the book and take thorough notes on the power points he supplies to understand this class. I used the self Study by McGraw Hill to help. In other words, work hard and you'll pass. I now plan to double major in economics.
Took it pre-COVID19 and it wasn't that great. Not that he's a bad teacher, but just the class is very monotone. I'm a pretty social person and I like having a class discussions and hands-on work rather than note-taking. Little to no work besides studying for exams Basically your grade depends on 3 test and a final
Beware! Do not take this class with this teacher. You will regret it. Each test is worth 22 percent of your grade so the homework really doesn't matter. You will study more than you ever have and still be lost when it comes to the tests. The tests are timed and he does not give you enough. Don't expect any help from him for he is useless.
Don't bother taking his class, his class is 100% pure note taking that is it. No hw no cw only a few papers that is literally it. Along with 4 test that is 25% with an extra credit that only push 1-2%. Save your money and avoid him
Save your $$ and time. This teacher gives out worksheet yet none graded. So you basically are doing work for nothing. Whole class is 3 test and final with extra credit that boost 2-3% of your grade. Pointless
It is odd that his lectures deviate from the textbook, but know that the tests are based on his lectures. What I mean is that if you had to choose only lectures or only textbook, please only listen to the lectures then. Other than that he loves the subject he teaches and wants his students to learn.
If you want an easy A class, get out. Professor Boelman is a very professional teacher and while he grades hard, it's also a tough class too. So working hard is a must. Don't slack off or procrastinate. ALWAYS REVIEW YOUR NOTES. Most important: Ask questions make sure you go home and practice the examples and you'll be fine
Prof. Boelman's teaching style is asking "what ?" every sentence. He asks students questions instead of giving information. I've never met a teacher like this. Let's just say his notes are irrelevant instead of junk to the exams. So even if he does give you a notecard, you ain't going to pass because none of it makes sense.
