The best professor i have ever had. Doctor Bryan is very passionate about helping his students learn anything and everything. His tests are tough but if you study what he tells you to study you'll be fine. Gives extra credit. Very personal and extremely nice. Will take time to help you if you don't understand. I have nothing bad to say about him!
I would highly recommend Dr. Bryan's class! He is an excellent teacher. He makes Biology fun!
Very nice and humble person. I took this class in 6 weeks course a lot of home works because it was 6 week class. His tests are hard but doable. I am not a bio major but still managed to pass the class. Highly recommended bio teacher
Dr. Bryan is a ball of energy. He comes to each class with an excited smile and his passion for Bio is shown everyday. Excellent teacher. Very fair. I found it hard to keep up with the amount of homework since I worked full time, but he gives you plenty of chances for extra credit. Definitely recommend.
Dr. Bryan is an excellent professor. I'm not a bio major but he made it very interesting! Very enthusiastic and engaging. I highly recommend his course!
Dr. Bryan is great! He's extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. He's also a natural teacher and did a great job of explaining concepts so everyone could understand - he's also more than willing to work with students who are having trouble. Extremely fair grader.
He did everything he could to make biology fun and easy while still working to make sure everyone actually learned and retained the material. If science isn't your strong subject but you still want to get a good grade, and learn without a lot of stress, take Dr.Bryan.
He's a really awesome guy, but goes way too fast. Before you have even learned the material you're already being tested on it. No study guide, no review.
He is no doubt an awesome guy... but he goes so fast with the material that it is impossible to actually learn it. He went through an entire chapter each class and within a week was already testing you on the first 4. I ended up having to drop because I couldn't keep up. Avoid this!
Best Bio professor at Annandale hands down!! So much energy and always encouraging learning. Very smart guy. Genius! I was failing this course because I could understand the material with a different professor but as soon as I transferred into his class everything clicked. He def knows what he's talking about.
Dr. Bryan is the best! I never really liked bio but he really knows how to teach it so it's not hard and he is really passionate about biology!
By far the best professor I have encountered. Truly passionate about biology. Provides insights to biology that only first hand experiences surpasses them. Not only does he grasp the students' attention, but he maintains students engaged throughout the semester. Ultimately you end up learning due to his charismatic personality;how ever you learn.
Absolutely the best professor I have ever taken at NVCC. He's clear with all his lectures & makes the labs worthwhile into something where you can both learn & have fun. Had no desire to take this course at first but i finished with an A & now a switch in my major, I couldn't ask for a better professor. Get him while you can! No regrets.
Dr. Bryan was one of the best professors I have ever had. Gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. He was very helpful, friendly, and super duper nice. He knows a lot about Biology. He is very passionate about what he teaches. You will learn a lot So take his class and you won't regret.
This professor is super smart! He really knows his stuff, and offers lots of help. If you want to be inspired, take his class.
Best teacher I've ever had. Took the 6 week course and learned way more in his class than I did in my Advanced Placement Biology course from high school. He really loves Biology and it shows. Do yourself a favor and take him
Dr. Bryan is a great teacher- super smart. Gives a few pop quizzes, so read the chapters. Also gives extra credit though. Tests are multiple choice and short answer, and he sometimes gives short answer q's in class- pay attention! Turn in all assignments, even if theyre late, and you'll do ok. Bio isn't my strong subject but I still did okay.
Okay, where to begin. If you want a high quality education of bio, do your self a favor and take his class. Professor B isn't your average professor. He is very knowledgeable in his department if not the best. Don't expect to walk in and get in A. You really need to work for the grade and show him you want it. Best Professor EVER!.
Easy class so far. Just need to study in advance then you wont feel too exhausted with the studying. there are 4 test and 1 final with quizzes that are very easy if you study. Bio is not my major and my interests, but so far with efforts, it is great!!
He is an awesomeprofessor, but not an easy A. If you don't do the assigned readings, you will struggle. You can tell he is passionate about Biology, definitely recommend
Professor Bryan understands not everyone is very passionate about biology, but he is willing to help you succeed in the class. Don't skip and do the readings, you shouldn't get any grade lower than a B. He is also very funny and interacts with his students on a personal level. Good luck
Average work load. He's always willing to help, especially when you put in the effort. Amazing Teacher!! Definitely recommend.
Professor Bryan is one of the nicest professor you can find for Bio. He tries his best to make sure all his students passes his class and he is always there to help a student understand much more about bio. His tests maybe a little difficult but his class is very easy and lab super fun and easy.
One of the best professor for Bio, know a lot about Bio material and keep the class entertain! Really funny professor and will help you a lot. But be prepare for test because it's a little hard. If you read through all the chapters and you will be fine!
Professor Bryan is very good,He is a cancer researcher and has a love for medicine and science. His tests are VERY TOUGH, it's hard to say anything bad about him because he is so nice. If you actually put in effort he will work with you Unfortunatley, a lot of people got low grades and tried but I really respect him. Got an A, but it came natural
Great professor. Has great enthisiasm & passion for what he teaches. Truly repsect this man, he will work with you if you take this class seriously or willing to put effort. Passed with an A
Very VERY nice professor and he is extremely passionate. But exams are HARD. Make sure you go to class and ASK questions-if not, he might hand out a pop quiz. Do well in his labs. They are easy. Finish all your essays and it should help bring your overall grade up. And lots of extra credit as well.
His exams are tough and gives pop quizzes but theyre fine if you go to class and study. He's easy on the eyes.
well let me tell you this.. he is a great professor but his exams are really hard. he doesnt give any study guide, he just let you know what will be on the test (that means that you have to read a lot) he also gives pop quiz and one presentation in class.
Professor Bryan is funny, amazing, dedicated, and willing to help when ever BUT he is THE hardest bio professor. His exams are nothing like what he teaches and the workload is a lot more than any other bio professor. Only take his class if you are 100% serious about going into the science/medical field. Learn a lot but grades not so hot.
Prof. Bryan is a very enthusiastic teacher. Although his class is hard(exams) and requires major studying time, he also provides extra credit opportunities that, if done, will improve your grade. Honestly though, if you really want to learn BIO and you're dedicated student then this class is great. Very approachable, funny, all-around great guy!
Definitely enthusiastic and credible. Hardest tests I have ever taken in my entire life. Show you care and he will care. He moves really fast so make sure you read and understand the material before class. Definitely some eye candy though.. mmm those dreads. Can get lost on tangents so we didnt finish all the chapters. 2 finals, 5 tests, 3 quizzes
PB is the MAN! No doubt one of the best professor/teachers Ive had in life. Ive hated science my whole life UNTIL I took his class. Hes so knowledgable and makes lectures legit fun! He wants to see students to do well. Do ALL of the readings, take notes/come to class, participate and show you care. Do all this and you WILL wanna take him again!
he's a great teacher and a great person. He is soo chill! he treats everyone like an adult (with respect) so don't expect him to hold your hand with everything. he knows his biology and is very passionate about it. I'd highly recommend him, if you're someone who will put in the effort.
This teacher is awesome. his grading is really tough but if you work for it you will get an A. he jokes alot in class and gives a ton of extra credits. his quizez and exams will be ok if you are a person who likes to study. if you are really into biology i recommend you take this class
professor Bryan is a very nice young man that is passionate about what he teaches.I would recommend him for bio majors. yes his test are tough and you have to study a lot for his test, but he does give extra credit and lab is easy. he also has study sessions that you can go to just ask him what days and time, those were my life savers.
Professor Peter Bryan is a great, passionate professor when it comes to Bio. The course itself is tough but he tries to make it as easy as possible. Read before class. Ask about his study sessions and go to them if you want an A. Lab is easy. Pop quizzes so pay attention in class. Many extra credit opportunities. Super cool guy. One of the best
Exceptional Teacher! Knows exactly what he is talking about. Very understanding. But beware of the tests!! They are difficult
Very good teacher. I personally had a difficult time in class because Bio is a hard subject for me. Prof Bryan really makes sure you understand material. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. You must read the book and study to do well in this class.
I took Professor Bryans Bio 102 class in a 6-week course. It was definitely fast pace. However professor Bryan knows his materials. He knows what hes talking about and is very knowledgeable and therefore it is easy to follow through during his lectures. He doesnt teach in a professor-student relationship, but more in a friend-friend relationship
Take Dr. Bryan, you won't regret it. He's nice, he cares about his students, and he offers SO MUCH extra credit. He's also very clear about what you need to know for exams. Everyone in my class agreed he's a great professor. You'll also learn A LOT about biology so if you're a science major TAKE HIS CLASS! 5 stars. Also he's funny.
One of the most best teachers I've had at NOVA. I took him over the spring in 2016 and although the class is challenging, Professor Bryan is the smartest person to learn from. Very knowledegable in biology as well as a chill ass dude. Side note, dope hair. The best, by far. Take him if you want to actually learn the material.
really knowledgeable about science; overall great person. funny, but beware his class is hard. read the book, take good notes (show up to class!!!) and you'll pass, but you gotta work for an A. great prof though. highly recommend to anyone wanting to go into bio/chem.
Professor Bryan was the best Biology lab professor! He explains everything so very clearly. He was able to reached by email anytime! He's smart, funny and knows what he is talking about. DEFINITELY TAKE HIS CLASS! Show up, do the labs and you will pass the class! He explained everything so clearly. The labs are grouped based too! It's super easy :)
Peterrific! He's a great professor. He explains the material and helps you if you're stuck. I took his BIO 101 Lab and it is hard because it's biology, but he works with you. There are pop quizzes so don't expect to just show up and do your lab without actually trying to understand the concepts. Make sure you read the lab manual also.
THE BEST BIO PROF IN NOVA. Tests are hard. Ask for help, he's there for you. He gives extra credit & review sessions. UR textbook is ur new BFF. Very professional, smart and knowledgeable. AMAZING lectures, somewhat fast pace but manageable. If u need bio as a requirement don't take this class, but if u wanna learn and have fun takem He's AMAZING!
Dr. Bryan is an AMAZING biology professor! He's such a geniune, smart & funny person! Biology is a tough course but Dr. B makes it understandable & enjoyable to learn. Exams are challenging. You really have to put in the time & effort to learn the material. He does give out extra credit so take advantage! I recommend biology majors to take him!
he's a great professor. If he sees you're working hard and trying your best he'll do his best to make sure you get the grade you worked for. Would definitely recommend him to everyone!
He is a great professor. He is always willing to learn and he is extremely patient. Sometimes go over the same concept multiple times if he was asked to.
Great Professor, really knows his stuff and knows how to teach. I am choosing him for BIO102 as well.
Dr. Bryan is a great professor! He's very passionate and truly wants to make sure his students really learn the material. He goes in depth but doesn't ask for an impossible amount of work and does a good job making the material interesting and fun. I definitely reccomend him to anyone who wants to learn biology!
He is the type of teach you can tell enjoys teaching, he is very enthusiastic toward what he teaches, breaks down everything to make sure you understand. Great personality and great hair!
In order to pass, just show up to class, do the readings and he'll work with you on grading.
He gives amazing lectures and ensures his students understands the material. He's very good explaining and very personable!!! He's a great person and professor!
Dr. Bryan is the BEST biology professor ever. Took both bio 101 and bio 102 with him. Learned alot!!! He is very passionate and he knows what he is teaching. Labs are super easy and fun. Take him!! You wont regret it :)
Dr Bryan was honestly probably the best professor I've ever had. He makes you WORK for that grade though. But you're learning. He's a kind hearted and successful man who cares about his students and wants you to learn. If you love BIO definitely take him. Thanks Prof!
I think Peter Bryan is an extremely nice person. However, I don't think his teaching method is very good. He would skip a lot of the material, would not put the powerpoints on BB, and did not have a study guide. I think if you want to actually learn about bio 102, take the class. If biology is not related or your major, do not take him.
Dr. B is a real gem, EXTRAORDINARY professor, extra credit king, passionate about bio n knows what his talking about, makes you work for the grade, very funny, caring, you'll really learn bio, "pop quizzes", hard tests but manageable, awesome hair, kind, will help you, makes bio simple n learnable, 10000% would recommend if sci-major
Dr. Bryan is a great professor, he is very easy-going, knowledgeable, and helpful. Gives lots of extra credit, so its hard to not do well. Exams can be a little tough as they make you think critically about the information presented. If you want to learn bio and have fun doing it, take Dr. Bryan, and this is coming from a bio major, won't regret it
Prof. Bryan has a relatable "young" sense of humor that keeps the class focused and entertaining. He is very smart and very good at explaining things. He curves every exam by at least 10% and usually cuts class short. I would 100% take him again.
I really miss him, he's the best biology professor you'll ever have. He taught us all so much, and he didn't dumb it down. I saw kids in nova reach their full potential in his class. I wish he taught more classes so I could take another one of his classes. If you don't take him, that's on you.
He is an amazing and super cool guy. Very cooperative with the students. He wants all his students to pass the class with good grades and he works with them on that. curves the grade. Labs are super easy and very short. definitely will recommend him.
Honestly it's all the bio nerds who gives him a good rating. He makes it wayyy harder than it should. The tests are 50 multiple choice and like 5 short answers. He's knowledgeable but he's teaching style isn't structured, skips over most of power points. If you are a structured learner then avoid him.
No Study guides for the test. Very unorganized lectures where you barely get a chance to write more than a page down. Labs are super easy but that is the only easy thing. His test are all concepts and he has 10 short answer questions per test which are worth 30 out of 150 of the test which is a lot. Test are worth a ton don't take him. I dropped
Professor Bryan is a very nice and caring teacher, however it is almost impossible to do Gods in his class because of his exams, I studied and studied yet I could never get above a C, hes a great teacher but his exams are very complicated
Professor Bryan is a nice guy. He wants you to understand the material the best way you can. He'll help you along the way and his test are difficult and you will have to dedicate a good amount of time reading the text. Lectures help to provide a path of what to focus on for the test, and ask for help if you're stuck, don't expect to get it quickly.
I've taken 3 other science courses but Prof. Bryan's course was where I learned the most and got the best grade. He knows the material by heart without hesitation and is very open to students asking questions. He always says whats really on the exam so theres no surprises. This class is best if you want to really learn the material so it sticks.
"Bio nerds" aren't the only ones who like him. People who actually bother learning with their tuition money like his class. If you couldn't do well, that's on you. He gives tons of extra credit and is super willing to help you succeed. Super caring professor. Good luck at a 4 year university with your attitude. Nerds forever!!
The man knows his stuff and how to teach it. I actually enjoyed coming to lecture which is pretty rare. 4 exams that are each crazy in their own right, but he knows they are so he curves each one. He's really flexible with his students and willing to adjust things so that everyone is satisfied. Take him!
DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU ARE NOT A BIO MAJOR, other than that hes a great professor, super cool but if you need this as a requirement and dont really understand bio you will fail! DO NOT TAKE IF YOU DO NOT KNOW BIO! you will have to teach yourself.
Dr. Bryan is an awesome professor. Super passionate: He works at Georgetown for cancer research. He always hits us with jokes, and insures we understand the material. Ive had him for bio 101 AND 102! I recommend him constantly. He lets you know EVERYTHING thatll be on the test, however they are quite difficult!! You can get exempt from the final!
Growing up I have always dreaded Science classes. Not only is Dr. Bryan the best professor I've ever had, but being his student has made me reconsider switching my major to BIO. I plan on taking his BIO 102 too! He gives you everything you need to succeed+extra credit, but tests are a beast. In order to combat this I'd redo notes at home to study.
Professor Bryan is a really cool guy. But man is his class hard. I get why people like him, but honestly I struggled a lot in his class. Tests are extremely hard even if you really study. Short answers are easier but multiplie choice TRIPS you up. Lab is is easy and he curves grades.
He was definetly one of the more down to earth teachers ive had. However, id only take his class if you were going to major in biology. If youre trying to get an easy grade this is NOT the class to take. I wish I knew this before. Test are EXTREMELY difficult, youd have to have background knowledge of biology to get an A.
I am an ECONOMICS major and even I LOVED his class. Biology is my worst subject but I put in the work to get my A's. This class is NOT easy. Do NOT take it if you are lazy. I put in 6 hrs+ of studying to get an A. He is funny but most of all he TEACHES. He prepares you for a 4 year school not just NOVA 2.0 AKA(GMU) His class is fun!
I was very surprised how well I did considering science has never been my thing nor my major, biology is just hard in general but Prof Bryan made it so digestible! My method of success was taking rough notes in class based on his ppt and going home and rewriting them with the textbook as help. You need to spend lots of time studying but doable!
Excited/felt prepared/like a good fit til the census date passed. Super difficult tests and if you can't learn through reading you WILL NOT PASS. He expects every student in his class to be a full-time student/put in at LEAST 6 hours of studying per week. Tests are application and detailed recall. Pre-labs are like an extra essay to write. just OOF
If youre going in with a poor understanding of BIO and you dont like BIO you're unlikely to do well in the class, tests are HARD and you have to put in a ton of work to do well. Even with studying I never did well on the tests. There is so much reading to do and I never felt like I could possibly understand the information well enough for the tests
Prof Bryan is incredibly intelligent. Buttt his exams are the hardest exams I have ever taken. Even if you study hard before the test, you might not even get a B. If you aren't willing to study throughout the semester, don't take him, you won't pass. Attendance isn't req, but go anyways! I had him for lab as well and that part was fairly easy.
Dr. Bryan is hilarious and makes learning Biology really fun. However, this tests are insanely difficult, especially if you're a non-Bio major. Just going to lecture isn't enough because there are a ton of specific questions taken from the book. And all of his questions are about applying concepts, so memorization isn't enough. Be ready to work.
Professor Bryan is very personable and funny! He really challenges you to apply real world examples to the things youre learning in Biology. Be prepared to answer his questions because he requires everyone to participate. Overall, Prof. Bryan is a great teacher who makes you learn and apply the material he teaches you.
I didn't learn anything at all, makes the material too complicated to understand. He's a nice professor but his way of teaching for me wasn't good, exams were difficult. Took this class with another professor and I did amazing and learned so much more.
The tests were extremely difficult. If you do not read the chapters daily, you won't be able to do great on the exams. There was no homework, which I think was bad because we didn't get to practice enough. The lab was really easy, you should just show up and turn your pre-labs and lab reports on time. Tried really hard, and still ended up with a B.
I would like to say, if you are not a bio major take his class. He is a good teacher honestly but he just does too much for no reason, he expects you to know as much as him by the end of the semester. His tests are very difficult so you better study extra freaking hard if you wanna pass. Overall great person ..... not a great professor in my opnion
hardest tests ever. but a good guy who gives a lot of extra credit
dr bryan was lazy and late to every class. unavaiable and unwilling to answer questions. he is vague and would rather you fail his tests. no matter how much you study its impossible to get an A. do not take this class unless you are a bio major. hes also extremely unorganized. one of the worst teachers i have ever taken.
dr bryan is nice but not a good teacher. his tests are extremely hard, unclear, and so long that he ends up curving all of them or else everyone would fail. very unorganized, no hw, no study guides, no power points online. lacy teacher. late to every class. feel like he didn't take it seriously or care.
He's definitely a knowledgeable professor and give interesting lectures, But his class is very very hard! He uses lockdown browser with eye tracking and asks mostly short answer questions on tests. My class personally averaged around 40% on our tests. I wouldn't recommend him especially if you're a non-bio major & not into reading a lot.
I made an account just to rate this professor, with having to move classes online he doesnt seem to do well in an environment that isnt a classroom. He is a really cool guy, but im here to get my elective credit and dip. IF YOU ARENT A BIO MAJOR OR LOVE BIOLOGY DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Theres 4 exams but drops one. NO specific study guidelines.
Prof. Bryan is not a skilled online teacher. He read off the powerpoint over Zoom and that was mostly it. He would argue with us when we asked questions. He is unreachable for office hours I had to call the dean to meet with him before an exam. No study guide. Tests are not fairly graded and it's unclear why points were taken off.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! You dont need a nice person. You need a professor who will actually teach you the material and be im available during his office hours. He told my class to pay attention to his hints Bc it will be on the test and after he was like Dont ask me what the hints are Bc I dont remember. Make that make sense. No study guides.
Tests questions are worded a lot harder than they need to be. The short answer questions have to be basically exactly what he said in class. We expressed our struggles and he didn't really help us at all. He didn't record any of the zoom lectures and would also go off topic a lot during the lectures. No study guides for the test. A lot of reading
I am not sure how he got a 4/5, I am not sure how he is with in person class but as for online he is barely an average teacher, you dont get study guide for your exam, your hint he will not repeat it cuz he doesnt remember, read the textbook cuz he will ask question, if the class cant answer he will probably give you a pop quiz and youwillfail
If you are a bio major/nursing student/pre-med, this is the prof. you need. He will push and challenge you, but I learned so much I am prepared for anything! He does care about his students personally. Study hard and take initiative and you will do amazing. Engage in class and come prepared to learn and love bio!
I FELT LIKE I WAS IN HIGHSCHOOL. There were around 25 students in the beginning and there are only 12 left. He thinks we are supposed to know everything like we are some doctors. Picks on you for questions. His exams are so hard and you can't use notes. Labs are not hard but they don't help you with your grade that much.
Dr. Bryan was really informative. I'm glad I took him for bio 101 and look forward to 102! Study hard and stay ahead on readings and you will be fine. He gives alot of extra credit too
He is a very respectful and knowledgeable professor who knows a lot about biology, attendance is not mandatory but you'll miss out lecture hints every lecture. Other than that he know what he is doing and he makes It easy for us to pass the class.
Professor Bryan makes BIO fun. This class was one of the hardest I have taken but Professor Bryan was understanding and always wanted his students to succeed. He was easy to talk to and gave time for questions to be answered.
Professor Bryan is a fair, yet challenging professor. Earning your grade is not easy. You MUST read, you MUST show up and you MUST be ready to participate in his lectures. This may seem scary but it will make you a better student in the long run. I enjoyed his class and I learned a lot. He is a great professor.
You have to pay attention and really takes notes. Make sure you read ahead and be ready for FUN assignments.
Learned a whole lot of information in a short period of time. This course is not easy, and I had to restructure my study habits, but if you can adjust your schedule to meet the needs, you will learn a ton.
If you read the Textbook and Listen to his lecture you will pass this class. Professor Bryan teaches really well and tells you what is going to be on the exam so you can study it . Also he is very flexible with lab grades. I recommend taking this course if you like science or are a science major because you will learn a lot
Dr. Bryan is an incredibly energetic and passionate person. He truly knows his material and isn't afraid to admit when he is doesn't know something. That being said, he isn't a teacher you want to choose if you are not going to be a bio major. The tests are difficult and he is a hard grader. Reading is essential to passing.
Dr. B killed it this semester, especially on Zoom. I felt like I was in a real class; no other professor I've had has achieved this level of participation. Dr. B's class is tough, no doubt about it, but he wants his students to learn. I genuinely learned so much throughout his class I'm grateful to have had him while I pursue my science degree.
First of all, he is a great professor. He really made our online class engaging. He is hilarious and very good at explaning complex concepts in a simpler way. However, his class is not easy, and in exams he can ask way more detailed questions than you would expect. So, make sure that you definetely read, take notes, and study well.
Professor Peters is a very knowledgeable instructor. Although his exams are very tough, he prepares you pretty well for future science courses. As long as you put in effort, and STUDY for the quizzes and exams, you will learn a lot and be able to get a good grade. Opportunities for extra credit also.
He is a tough professor so only take his class if you're ready & willing to learn (science majors). He challenges to study to really understand the material. Yes, this class was a difficult course but it made me a better student overall. If you just reach out to him he will help you catch up, & get you back on track.
Even though I found this course to be very challenging, Professor Bryant was complimenting to my success. He made time to help me in areas where I was struggling and I always provided positive feedback. He provided the class with extra credit to help with your grades. Professor Bryant was very knowledgeable of his material.
Dr. Bryan is an excellent Biology professor. His knowledge about the topic is amazing. Learned a lot information this semester and would definitely take his classes again. His exams are difficult but he prepares you for it and gives extra credit opportunities. He is a great professor.
Very passionate, energetic, and inspiring. He's really interested in making you engaged with the material. Tests include questions that ask for detailed explanations of concepts so I'd recommend watching supplemental videos such as from Khan Academy to make sure you have a firm grasp on things.
Great professor he makes sure he answers your questions fully and clearly until you understand he is also lenient when grading and gives you opportunity to earn extra credit would definitely take another class taught by him.
Pop quizzes almost every week, randomly select students to answer the questions during class, questions on the exam is nothing like he teaches, take the exam using lockdown browsing with the camera on, assignments overload, no study guide is fully provided before the exam, don't take this class if you're not a major bio cause you are going to fail.
Dedicates upwards of twenty minutes of limited lecture time to debunked conspiracy claims (AIDS was cured by diet, milk causes early death), quizzes and grades people during lecture on info that hasnt even been gotten to in the curriculum yet. Cultivates fear a student literally said Im afraid to answer, in class, because of him.
He is a nice professor but the way he teaches is not for everyone. Being in his class made me feel terrified because he asks questions about things we haven't learned yet. Don't take the class if you are lazy and do not like to read the textbook.
This Professor is awesome!!! So knowledgeable on the subject and gets you to participate and get excited!! He will help you learn outside of class and gives lots of hints.
Great Professor, great at keeping students engaged.
Professor B is a professor who really wants you to leave his class a changed person, because I sure did. In the beginning, it is super hard! There are pop quizzes, conceptual exams and lengthy short answer questions. But there are also numerous extra credit opportunities, relatable and educational (and funny) lectures, and HINTS.
Professor Bryan, is at this point the #1 professor I've ever taken, I didn't attend class for a whole month. I explained the situation and rn before the final exam I got a 72. He is the absolutely the best professor and will be the best professor, no cap.
He is a good professor. Very Knowledgeable. Gets the whole class engage. Just make sure you read before you come to class and write down all the hints.
Definitely a knowledgable professor. Lectures are going to be difficult if you do not thoroughly read and understand the material before hand. Class is almost like a case study type class where you take the information you learned from the textbooks and apply them to real world scenarios. Be prepared to work hard to pass this class.
Hands down the best proffesor, u can tell he truly cares for his students and their success. He is generous with extra credit and giving hints on his exams. You should read the chapter prior to the lectures. And you must understand the concepts. He is super helpful with trying to make small concepts relate to a big picture. Take him u won't regret
Professor Bryan is a one of kind teacher. In my humble opinion, the best NOVA has to offer. At first I thought I was going to hate the class because of all the reviews I was reading but quite the contrary. Out of my 6 classes I was taking this semester, this was always my favorite to attend. He makes you realize this is a college level course.
This is the best professor I've ever taken at nova. He requires you to participate in class which I hated at first but its actually great and I never missed a class. He makes sure you understand the material and makes it fun. You'll love him! 4 exams, 3 quiz, final, easy presentation. Get an A on all exams you're exempt from lab and lecture finals!
He genuinely care about his students and is very helpful.
Professor Bryan is really nice and so funny. Also, he is so generous to give extra credit. Biology 102 is not easy, but you will love it, thanks to him.
Professor Bryan is passionate about Biology. Participation matters. Make sure to read the chapters before class. He gives good feedback. The tests are heavy! Pay attention to the HINT HINT HINTS. Overall, he is a great professor and will answer any questions you have.
Mr Bryan is very straightforward with what's going to be on tests, even if his lectures can feel longwinded and boring. Pay attention, take notes and you'll easily pass his class.
Great teacher you will truly learn the material. Make sure you read, pay attention, and show up for class and you'll do fine!
The material's not hard but he makes it harder to understand and remember... be prepared for him to be really mean to everyone for no reason, too... punishes the whole class for the mistakes of the few... knowledgeable on the subject, but, def not an enjoyable professor to learn from...
This is my second time taking Bio 102, and I can say that I learned more in one of his classes than I did the entire semester when I first took it. PAY ATTENTION! Do not skip class. He goes over every chapter thoroughly and will answer any questions you have. If you pay attention and read the chapters you will pass.
Professor Bryan is very passionate about what he teaches. You are quickly going to figure it out his love for biology. Before lectures, READ the material you guys are going to be discussing. There are some pop quizzes, but he will never quiz on something he hasn't taught you yet. He is very understanding and down to earth. You will learn so much.
Never taking Bio again cuz of him. Worst experience ever of my life.
Professor Bryan is definitely a very knowledgeable professor, who makes the lectures engaging but the material can get pretty difficult at times. Take advantage of office hours, and also the extra credit! There are no shortcuts, your grade is earned!
Dr. B has been one of the best's professors I've had at Nova! That being said this class is not for people who just want to show up and pass. You have to work hard for your grade and read the chapters before class. He gives out a lot of extra credit opportunities for every test. He hints at a lot of the questions from the test during the lecture.
Dr. B is an easy going professor who makes lectures bearable as he engages the class. Although I do agree with other students that his class is extremely vigorous, requiring a lot of repetitive studying, his methods are respectable as students will leave the class having retained at least some material. Hes also understanding of studentssituations
Professor Bryan is one of the best professors I have had at NOVA. That being said, you have to put in work in his class. You have to read and probably take notes before lecture, because he will expect you to know everything. He tells you what to study for on the exam too! If you are a bio major I really recommend this class, he is super funny too!
This is by far the worst Professor I ever taken. Be aware that you have to teach yourself the material to be tested on it in lecture. The labs are very unorganized and there is hardly any study guides or tools to help you study for the exams besides your notes and the book.He makes things very complicated than it needs to and very harsh professor.
the best professor ever. just do as he says and you'll be good :)
4.1 out of 5 yeah right more like -4.1 out of 5 everything in this class is already hard to grasp and understand but he just makes everything so much more DIFFICULT to understand even though I BARELY passed with a 72%!! in which I have no clue how I passed he is very lecture heavy and wants cameras and MIC turned on during zoom! please STAY AWAY!!!
Professor Bryan was a great professor! He was lots of fun and tried really hard to make sure everyone understood the material that was being covered. The tests were hard, but if you came to class and took advantage of extra credit opportunities, it wasn't hard to do well.
Dr. Bryan is engaging, fun, and very knowledgeable of Biology. He made the Summer course, and Bio 102 overall very exciting, easy, and stress-free. 10/10 would recommend!
Fun professor!
Professor Bryan made lessons fun. Tests were hard but he gave us *hints* during class that would be on our test that made it easier to study.
Professor Bryan was a great instructor. He was very knowledgeable, and he made the lectures fun, even when the concepts were harder to grasp. Prepare to do a lot of outside studying and reading, but nothing was unreasonable. Would definitely recommend to take for biology.
Dr. Bryan makes lectures fun and engaging by asking questions and keeping the class involved. Its clear he is very interested in biology. Multiple choice portion of exams can be difficult but if you read the book you'll be fine.
overall he is a good professor, you can tell he really knows his stuff. I took the 6 week session so if I missed one class I was already behind a chapter and the exams were pretty hard but if you take the time to study you should do fine.
Very positive and knowledgeable. Gives extra credit opportunities. Exams can be tough.
He was very nice but you basically had to teach yourself.
Dr. B is a great instructor and brings positive energy into the classroom. Lectures are fun, engaging, and you learn a ton of cool stuff. The exams are very reasonable n easy if you put some time into studying and reviewing the chapters. Lots of extra cred opportunities and *hints* about the exams. Overall, super understanding and chill professor!
Easily the best Biology professor at NOVA, I take him for BIO 206, only hard thing in his class are the exams but he gives *hints* for every question that's going to be on there, labs are always easy, he makes lectures entertaining and is a really easy grader when it comes to the group project, also includes one field trip, REALLY ENJOYABLE CLASS!!
Dr. B truly cares about his students and shows passion for the subject. There are many opportunities for extra credit. He responds to emails quickly and has flexible office hours. The class is lecture heavy but he will answer any questions and ensure you understand the material . I highly recommend him for Biology/Biochemistry majors!
Dr. Bryan makes such a difficult subject extremely enjoyable. He is a great person and is very passionate about the subject he teaches. There is a lot of textbook reading, but if you keep up you will be perfectly fine in the class. Dr. Bryan wants to help all his students succeed, there are a lot of extra credit options. Great teacher, take him!!!
If you're looking for a professor who is knowledgeable, engaging, and truly cares about students, then take his class thank me later. I took Bio 206 with him, the textbook is hard, but his lecture is amazing. He will give Hints for the exam, a lot of extra credit opportunities, review days, and study guides that are so accurate. Highly recommended!
The best Biology professor at Nova, so much extra credit, exams are hard but he gives hints for every question, overall really amazing and would definitely recommend
If you are a biology major or someone who's really interested in biology you need to take professor Bryan. Cell biology can be hard and material heavy but he'll make it fun, interesting, and easy to retain. He will give hints about the things that you need to focus on for the exam and will also provide study guides and review sessions.
The professor is amiable and would help you if you ask for help. If I knew about him before I would've taken all my Bio classes with him. He does not give homework and gives extra credit to help the students with their grades. Exams are okay as long as you pay attention in class and take notes of hints that he gives out.
One of the best BIO professors so far. Amazing lecture.
He is a good professor and gives hints about what is important w.r.t the exam's point of view . Pay Attention in class, he does ask questions . He does give extra credit and reviews the content of every exam. So, if you put in a little bit of effort, you will ace this class. The labs are easy and fun.
Dr. Bryan makes lectures fun and engaging by asking questions and keeping the class involved. It's clear he is very interested in biology. Multiple choice portion of exams can be difficult, but if you read the book you'll be fine.
Is very passionate about his subject and is flexible with the exams and about grading.
Great professor, very knowledgable. Very lecture heavy but gives hints on what's gonna be on the exams. Flexible with the schedule. One presentation towards the end of the semester. Four exams plus final, difficult but if you read the textbook you should be fine. Very fun class, both lec and lab!
youre going to read alot and learn a lot and if you don't read you're definitely not going to pass. he does offer a lot of extra credit but exams are the only grade
He is super caring about his students and is really easy to talk to and work with. There aren't a lot of grades other than the exams but if you get As on the exams, you're exempt from the final. The exams are tough but he does in class review, gives extra credit, and curves the grades. Overall he's a fair teacher and really approachable.
Great professor. Read the chapters ahead of lecture and you'll be good to go. Has great review sessions and study guides prior to exams. Super understanding and accommodating to students as well.
He cool, exam 3 kinda hard though, gives good hints.
This mans KNOWS HIS STUFF!! Take him Biology will be engrained in your brain, he will also explain the biology behind that process as well
Probably the best prof you could take for this class, exams can be hard but plenty of extra credits to boost your grade.
Dr. Bryan is really nice, that being said his class is very challenging. It's like almost 100% based off this textbook THAT SUCKS. He explains stuff well, and if you ask him questions he takes time to make sure you understand. Attendance isn't required but if you miss class.. good luck lol. Lecture grades is all exams and one group presentation.
I dont even take this professor anymore but I was his student last semester and passed with an "A", believe me when I tell you this, he's a legend, I took the MCAT practice test and realized every question on there was something that he taught me, If you wanna pass than take him, easily the best Biology professor to ever walk the campus.
He's a wonderful instructor! He makes a wonderful classroom environment with a wonderful mix of educational and whimsical. I greatly suggest this professor for this course.
Good class to take. Professor is very coherent and teaches well. He is sometimes late to class and the tests are moderately difficult, but I do highly recommend this class.
chill teacher and he tries help
Amazing professor
Very good professor, classes are very textbook heavy and he will challenge you to really understand the material but he helps to clarify any questions and helps you learn the material more efficiently
Professor Bryan will make sure that you understand the topic well, and he will explain in an easy and understanding way
In order to succeed in this class, you need to ask questions, read/study outside of class, and memorize all his "hints" he drops in lecture. He explains things in a lot of depth, but he's very willing to explain things to your understanding during/outside of class. Topics can be super heavy, you cant slack in this class whatsoever He talks fast!
Professor Bryan is a very chill and nice guy, this being said his class is very very challenging. You can NOT slack off in this class. Exams are super hard and everything is based off the textbook. You will get some pop-quizzes or "fun activities" as he likes to call them. Overall class is good but not easy. It's either you work hard or get an F.
Hard but very fair and really makes you learn the material. Extra credits given regularly.
Good class if you're really into biology. He provides powerpoints and lectures in a way that its easy to follow. He gives lots of extra points/extra credit opportunities that really help. Funny professor and pretty understanding on situations.
Professor Bryan's lectures involve a lot of participation which I felt helped me engage more into the lectures than previous courses. The test were hard, but there is more than enough time to prepare for them. Overall, I'd take Professor Bryan again as he made lectures worth the long drive.
The professor was so nice and helpful, he explains everything in detail.
Peter Bryan was an amazing professor and very helpful. He was very cool and very intelligent. Very funny and very engaging!!
Prof. Peter is very respectful and very funny , he is amazing with his lecture making it easy to understand and he is fair with grading.
I took BIO-101 with him, and I do not regret it at all ! His lectures are fun and engaging and I really learned a lot more than I expected. You can tell he is very passionate about biology and enjoys teaching, always making sure you understand the concepts. This being said, his exams are very difficult so make sure to study and take it serious :)
You must be well prepared for tests and memorization, and you will pass this class.
I had the pleasure of taking BIO 101 with Professor Bryan, and it was a fantastic experience. His teaching style was engaging and thorough, making complex biological concepts accessible and interesting. He give us many chances for extra credits
Pretty easy if you keep up with reading the textbook. Few assignments are given and grade is reflected quite heavily on test-taking ability (there are curves though). He'll call on your butt in class even if you aren't raising your hand which is lowkey annoying because I'm half-awake usually. Labs are easy. Overall he's cool
Good Prof
Good prof, lots of communcation and open office hours
This professor is one of the more caring professors ive had at NOVA. I totally recommend him to anyone who is taking BIO101!!
ONLY take this class if you are good at biology. This class is not for the weak. Your only grades are exams. No homework or opportunity to bring your grade up at all. Nope.
He is an amazing professor and takes pride in what he teaches. He did a great job making sure everyone was engaged during lectures. However, I recommend that you take time to read the chapters prior to the lecture so you're not lost. Very big on exams so be prepared to study, the lab was easy just pay attention and participate.
Very nice professor, his exams are what's worth your lecture grade so be ready to study! He's very nice and lots of extra credit !! You will have to read the textbook, but i recommend to take him! Attendance isn't mandatory but if you miss his class, you will miss a lot of material.
Definitely recommend taking his class for BIO! He's very helpful when needed. I would recommend reading over the chapters In the textbook and looking over the slides provided to help get you ready for upcoming tests because they are a little bit difficult. Overall he is a great professor and he really knows his stuff about biology
when you take his class make sure you pay you full attention to the topics he will be discussing, you have to take notes or you will be lost. The test are hard so if don't want to fail just pay attention! Professor Bryan is really nice tho, if you have trouble understanding he is always available to help you either by email or office hours.
Extremely knowledgeable prof if you are a science major. If you are doing this as an elective: beware. Exams are the hardest since its a combo of memorization (short/long answer descriptions of each step) w/ 80% multiple choice but utilizing examples where you have to /apply/ what you learned. Do not rely only on textbook, use outside sources too.
A fun professor who's clearly smart. Pay attention; his fast-paced lectures require note-taking. Review notes and read the textbook to aim for a B. His tests focus on critical understanding rather than memorization. He reviews and hints at 90% of test content. Ideal for active participants who review regularly. Not recommended for procrastinators.
Professor Bryan is a very good professor and his lectures are great. The material itself (BIO 102) can be a little challenging at points but he does his best to help you remember. And the labs helped so much to make you understand everything better.
Professor Bryan is knowledgeable, but the exams are challenging. Staying on top of the readings and attending class are key. Consider using resources like unstuck ai to supplement your study prep. Overall, a rewarding class for science majors.
Do not take him
As long as you attend all lectures you should be fine, go over notes after each class
great professor, all of the test questions are hints he gives us throughout the lecture. makes the lab and classes super fun and light. so many opportunities for extra credit and he always curves the exam grades. I would definitely take his class again. and I would recommend you take him too.
Gives hints for major things to remember for exams, gives multiple extra credit opportunities, Lab pretty self explanatory and fun as long as you attend.
There are lots of opportunities for extra credit. It's a fun class, and he explains concepts very very well & clearly
One of the most engaging classes I've ever taken at NOVA. There are many extra credit chances and exams are curved. Professor is so nice and very inclusive. I regret not taking him for BIO 102.
An advice that I would give to future students is to read the chapter before lecture, study before the exams, and take notes.
He is very knowledgeable about the subject and explains concepts clearly during lectures. The material is well-organized, and they make even complex topics easy to understand. Overall, a great lecturer.
Take this professor if you want to pass the class with an A and extra points. Respected and caring and always willing to help you learn and understand 1 on 1.
The class is very test heavy, but he gives us hints every lecture of what will be on the test and what will not, which makes studying a lot easier. He also gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, which helps a lot.
Professor Bryan is a great teacher who gives hints for questions and topics on exams throughout his lectures. Offers many different chances for extra credit throughout the semester.
He's a great professor, very funny and nice He will tell you the hints for the exams and PLEASEE do all the extra credits he gives during class because they help a lot on the exam and also he will curved your grade He's very generous and will you extra points.
4 exams 1 final, get 4 A's and get exempt from final! Had one pop quiz, one big presentation, LOTS of opportunity for Extra credit. Do it all!! He gives hints on what's going to be tested on. Curves tests!! He is funny and informative. Short answers on tests. I'd recommend!! Labs are easy. The class may be a little hard but it was my favorite!
BIO 102 is an inherently difficult course, so you have to put in the effort to get a good grade, but Doctor Bryan is a great professor who knows exactly what he is talking about. He gives clear lectures and highlights important information but most importantly, he is kind-hearted and treats you with respect which I can not say for every professor.
Dr. Bryan is a really nice man who cares about his students but his classes are pretty hard. Dr. Bryan used two textbooks during the class, the one that the school wanted him to use and the one that he liked more. This made is confusing as to what I needed to read to study and I ended up just winging it for all the exams.
Bryans's class is hard you have to do studying outside of class, you have 4 exams and a final, he gave a quiz because no one studied. this semester he put the 4th exam as the highest exam grade you have, which helped a lot, he gives extra credit and curves all the exams ,he's nice its just the exam multiple choice is harder than open ended ones
Professor Peter Bryan is the only guy who can make mitochondria hilarious. He's caring, quick-witted, and somehow turns every lecture into a comedy show. If you skip his class, your GPA and sense of humor will both suffer. If you're lucky enough to get Professor Bryan, prepare to learn, laugh, and question why all professors can't be this cool.
He doesn't care if you miss his class but if you miss, he will leave it up to you to figure out what you missed. He won't tell you. Lectures are well explained but the tests sound nothing like what you learned about, at least the questionnaire part because he puts written answers part as well. Besides that, he's funny.
Dr. Bryan does care about his students, but you also have to do your part. His tests are more base on your understanding on the subject, than the actual memorization of concepts. Attend class because lectures are clear, participate in jeopardy games (great review sessions). Be ready to read and study before class. He ask questions!
Great professor who really knows biology! He gives helpful exam hints, offers extra credit, and has a great sense of humor. He does exam reviews in a fun Jeopardy-style format. We also did a group presentation that helped reinforce what we learned. Bio was tough, but his teaching made it enjoyable. I wish I could take him for the next class too!
Professor B is the real deal—caring, smart, passionate, and super experienced. His tests are tough and he's a picky grader, but he truly wants you to learn. He gives helpful hints, talks fast but will explain in detail if asked. I was nervous at first (looking at you, cellular respiration!) but now I understand bio on a whole new level !!
took him for a 6 week summer course bio 102. he got behind and gave us 3 exams and 2 quizzes during the last 2 weeks. for the last exam, he didn't teach it to us and we all had to present a part of the chapter and learn from each other when the exam was the next day. would neverrrrrr take him again
ONLY take this class if u r majoring in anything science. You're expected to actually know the information you learn. His tests r hard. He gives you hints on what'll be on the test throughout lecture. He also has extra credit opportunity which was nice. You get extra credit if you fill this out. His class made me dropout of school first time around
Most annoying class ever! whatever happens, don't take him for a 13-week ONLINE class. So many readings, 8 quizzes, and 4 exams that are on honor lock, which should tell you enough about him. Since it was online, I had to learn everything on my own, so he didn't really do much besides reply to emails. all the assignments were automatically graded.
Don't take him online especially if you aren't majoring in science, no extra credit or drop grades, 4 exams worth 400 points out of the 1000, you cant miss a single lab or its automatically 30 points off He is funny and I do enjoy the labs! However, the way the class is set up online is harder than it needs to be. Take him in person!
great professor, cares about his students, attend lecture and study the hints that he gives for the finals. Extra credit is provided.
Professor Peter Bryan inspired me to study more Biology. He is a great professor!! If you want to have fun learning biology take him 🧬 He's a 10/10!
Dr. Bryan is very knowledgeable about all the topics he teaches. His lectures are very detailed, so your responses on tests are expected to be detailed as well. He is very funny and pleasant to be around! He responds to his emails quickly and gives many opportunities for extra credit.
One of the best professors I had in terms of lecture. Gives specific pointers for exams and presentation, easy to succeed in this class if you pay attention in class. We used Campbell for the textbook instead of the All Access one because Campbell had better sections and slides. Would take again for a stem class. 👍
Dr. Bryan is one of the best professors I've had in NOVA. He genuinely wants you to succeed and gives you a lot of extra credit opportunities. He pinpoints what will be on the exam so you just have to put the effort in to learn and you'll be alright. 10/10 would definitely take again.
Dr. Bryan Hands down the best professor anyone could ever take, most thoughtful and genuine guy out there that cares for his students and always wants everyone to try their best. Lectures were very fun and engaging and I would 100% recommend everyone to take him for Bio 101 and 102 as I did!
Dr. Bryan is a very amazing Professor. I really loved labs, lectures & presentation. The class is challenging in a good way.
Professor Bryan is an amazing teacher great lectures very informative and engaging
Nice + funny professor, that has plenty of extra credit opportunities, be prepared to read and take notes for sure! When in lecture he will say “hint hint” for what will be on the exam, overall always be attentive.
Hes super chill and nice he does help when needed and gives us a lot of extra credit
Dr. Peter Bryan is a caring and hilarious professor. The professor takes time to explain topics that students weren't able to grasp. He is very understanding. His slides are quite helpful. Not much homework. He also does fun revision such as jeopardy and gives out hints during classes for exams. Very approachable!!!
Dr. Bryan is an understanding and funny teacher who makes class enjoyable. He offers extra credit and Jeopardy review games that help us learn the material in a fun way. He clearly cares about his students and puts in the effort to make sure everyone has the chance to succeed.
He's really chill and gives extra credit but definitely study for the exams!!
Lectures are well paced, with complex ideas being broken down into simpler parts. Professor requires constant engagement and uses discussions as a way to break down ideas. Dedicates significant time in crafting lectures for better understanding. Professor makes the learning space feel comfortable and values student's time.
Great professor! He really focuses on making sure you understand the material instead of just memorizing it. He's a genuinely good guy (+ hilarious) and always willing to help. There are plenty of extra credit opportunities, which really take the pressure off.
