Probably biggest ego at UNB, and biggest hardass around.
Needs an attitude adjustment, and some throat losenges
Hard class to pass, but interesting lectures... study up dumbasses.
Evil, evil, evil...............why is he still here?
I think he's great - he gets better after the first biochem.. Attitude=his charm

Worst Prof. award with an attitude problem
Definitely an acquired taste but a definite source of biochem knowledge!
Amazing teacher, but hard course
Kiss his ass, comment on his *ahem* muscles, get invite to his A+ party for sure
Excellent prof, however, the course is a real challenge
great guy but you gotta like to style - the AHEM, the stick, the boston accent
When is this guy leaving? He gets our hope's up every year... he's falling a
worst prof ever. full of himself
Horrible - absolutely without a doubt the worst prof at UNB
Worst prof ever. Thinks he's guardian of the gateway to the medical community

Too much work for anyone who has more than one course. He's often unfair to many.

it's been 20 years since I had him and from the other comments it looks like nothing has changed, still the guardian, still hoping to clear his throat, still giving passing grades to those who schmooze, good thing we filled out those course eval forms!!!

I have never come across a worse professor, no a worse creature, in my life! arrogant, unintelligent and basically a totally useless part of the course. ure notebook is more useful than he is!
I took his course in 1990-91 ( BIOL 2200 ) and then took Biochem 3132 the next year. I credit him with teaching me what it takes to succeed and he was unquestionably the most influential person in my academic career. His sports references are timeless.

This was the absolute worst professor I have ever had.He is arrogant, and abusive, thinks he is a god,and this is the kind of prof that gets tenure.I nearly switched programs after having him,but luckily I stuck through. And this is from me who got an A+!
This prof is a total ****. It's hit or miss with him. If you get on his good side (ie kiss his ass and do well in biochem) then you'll be guarenteed and A+ in any other course, even if you dont go to class. Otherwise, you are guarented an F.
Grow up..very intelligent and intriggue. Might be a bit tough, but he gets the point across.
Perhaps one of the best Professors I have had. Presents what can be advanced material in a way that makes the course enjoyable. The material covered is both relevant and interesting.
The Bill Parcells of Biochemistry (football analogy). He doesn't accept academic mediocrity. No one has gotten more people into the big leagues of medicine or graduate studies. Sometimes he can be an SOB but he teaches you what it takes to succeed.
Cashion is a great prof if you can put up with the hacking. He makes you think and work hard and rewards you with good marks for doing so. His courses are all very interesting and his funny antics make them quite amusing.

Cashion will really make you work for your mark, though if you stop to talk to him, let him know you're into sports, you'll have an easier time of it. I've heard stories about him marking based on if he likes you or not, but he seemed fair & fun to me.
A good prof that knows his material well, but he HAS taught the same stuff for thirty some years. I disagree with the "I am God, suck up to me and come to my parties, and I'll give you a good mark". Give me a break.

The course itself isn't hard, it's the amount of work you must put into it to do well. He knows his stuff and gives great sports analogies. I've heard rumours that u get an F if u don't talk to him, thats complete bull. I did great and never talked to him
very good
He may be able to teach it but when your final is only based on 3 questions it's hard to do well. I think it's time for this guy to finally retire and give someone else a shot, not everyone can be scared into learning.
He is simply the best prof at UNB. He challenges his students to think for themselves as well as strengthening their ability to accept and learn from critisim. He is the hardest working prof at UNB, He teaches at least 3-4 courses a semester. The best!!
Hardest working prof at UNB?? haha, he doesn't even do research of course he teaches more than others. A real jerk at times, does know his stuff though. Old school attitude is too in your face and ineffective for 75% of students.. RETIRE!
Cashion is a sweet prof! He's funny and makes you think. He has no patients for people who don't want to work. All the rumours aout having to do well by talking to him and going to his parties is bull. I never talked to him until after I got an A and I never went to his party!
This class was completely amazing - very interesting. A lot more work than biochem, so be ready to work ur but off. Final took the whole 4 hours for everyone, and the 4 questions were based on things that didn't even seem important. Hard - but fair.
I took Biochem twice. Got a D the first time (first class I had ever bombed) and I got an A+ the second time. I learned more in that class than any other at UNB-I'm almost done my PhD at McGill now. I hope that my students in my bio class take away half as much as I have from Cashion's courses!
If you don't have ESP then don't take this course. Expect to have 75% of the exam based on topics hardly discussed in class. His teaching style is not effective his visual aids are hen scratched notes on overheads, get with the freaking times. Thank god he is retiring!
He expects too much of a second year university student and only having 3 questions on your exam is not an accurate measure of your learning. Also his scare tactics to get you to learn are ineffective and just plain wrong.

Cashion is an amazing prof. The first time I had him, I was rather skeptical about the truthfulness of all the information that he gives – but it definitely is! He makes you think, he’s tough, but you know your**** when you finish the course he teaches. I’m in veterinary medicine now, and his cours
I took into Biochemistry back in 1990 and Biochem II in 1992. No one ever got people more ready for medicine and graduate school than P Cashion. I give him alot of credit for what I did and what I became ( I was shy kid from a small hick town in NB , and I'm now a physician in Ontario). Sad to hear he's retiring. A living legend.
Believe what everyone says about him it's all totally true...he totally favors students...I know stupid people that have an A+ in all of his classes and like C in everything else...simply because he likes them...and I'm not saying this as a bitter person...I got an A+ myself because I worked twice as hard...he's****ty

RETIRE! Yikes he is back again.
Not nice to look at, Not nice to listen to hack hack and definately not a good person.
I think Dr. Cashion is great. I personally like his teaching style, I do not think this course could be taught effectively in any other way. The notes are confusing but once explained are very helpful and effective. He expects a lot, yes, but you leave feeling like you've learned something in the course.
Favouritism, rudness. Definitely not someone who should be teaching.
Awful teacher, if you can even call me that. Don't take his class if you can help it.
All I heard about his classes was that you had to study tons and he expects a lot!! It's true, and the studying helps. Exam is hard, but once you get through with the course you actually feel like you learned something for once!!! Plus first class that i never fell asleep in
just as terrible the second time around
The final will have you ripping the hair out of your head, but if you studied and understand it, you should be fine. His handout every lecture are crazy, but once he explains them, you'll understand it all. He explains it good, but I always took noted on what he was saying to make sure I understood handout, and I got an A+... does kinda play favs
Great at teaching material...classes very interesting.. however grading is unfair and questionable. So sucking up is needed. will get good grade if he likes you enough.
material isnt that bad but there is way too much of it. the class material is more than someone can reasonably know in a single term. immuno final, studied 45 hours to cover the material once well and the final was mostly on take home assignments which he gave out like 3 per class, at least. dont even think about missing a class, you will be MIA
I learned so much, I thought my head would explode. That aside, this man is an amazing teacher. Never was there a concept I never understood. And as for the favoritism, I never talked ot the man personaly one on one before, I just payed attention everyday in class and took notes whenever he explained somthing, and I got an A+. Amazing teacher
If you are a dumbass, or even if you THINK there is a SLIGHT chance that you may be a dumbass, a Cashion class is not the spot for you. You have to work for the A+, but it is very possible to get.
this prof was ridiculous. expected way to much of a second year student. Def played favorites. After discussing my final exam with him which was worth 100% and questioning him on it. He proceeded to tell me i was stupid and shouldnt be in univeristy. I later graduated on the deans list. That will show him. Horrible, try to avoid taking
cashon is the man, if he was your uncle he would be the crazy old uncle. Dont cross him tho, he could kick your ass if he needed to. And if you know about the lotion in the exam, well, then you know . . .
not as good as advertised
There's A LOT of material, you have to work hard, and yes, he is a hardass, but this is by far the class from which I have learned the most. He really gets down to the why and how of biochemistry. Don't let the crazy handouts scare you-they make sense once he explains them. He can seem unapproachable but he is usually happy to answer questions.
Excellent professor - I strongly recommend his classes to anyone who is interested in post graduate or professional studies. The expectations are high but they will provide rewards for your future education.
I've taken three courses taught by Cashion because I think he is an amazing teacher! His classes are a lot of work but they are totally worth it!
Great Prof
Rumours about having to attend his parties to get a good grade are totally false; I never attended any. There is a lot of material and you can't afford to miss a single class. I recommend recording his lessons and rewriting them immediatley after class.
In the first class, you'll be warned that this is not a course for lazy people and take heed. I've taken all of Prof Cashions courses offered and he's one of the best prof's at UNB IMO. Only way to get an A+ is to attend all classes, rewrite your notes immediately after class, and study every day.
Great Prof. Hard but very fair, don't miss class b/c you will fail. Textbook readings are a waste of time...just recopy the sheets he gives you and you'll ace this course
Dr. Cashion is rude, not at all helpful, he plays favorites, and he would stab anyone in the back given the chance. A friend of mine asked for a referral for med school, Dr. Cashion said yes. My friend had a bad feeling about it, so opened it and Dr. Cashion gave him a TERRIBLE referral. Textbooks are useless in his class. Terrible person/prof.
Prof Cashions classes will be a self assessment on whether you should go to medical school or not. His classes are very hard and require you study every day for atleast 2-3 hours. However they are not as challenging as medical school. If you can't deal with his classes, maybe you should be looking for a different profession
Had this professor a long time ago. His grading system is arbitrary according to his own system. Unfair and heartless best describes him.
Just awful. The worst at unb.
