He is a GREAT teacher!!!
He seemed like a nice guy, But I don't understand how he's a teacher. He clings to the textbook like it's Scripture and does not do a good job of explaining the material. I don't feel i learned anything. All he does is go to each bold word and make a student explain it to the class. All quizzes and exams are open book. That about sums up the class.
Peter stepped in my class when our original professor bailed. Overall, he seemed like a pretty nice guy, but the class was structured more like an online class. We read the textbook, watched Khan Academy videos about econ., and shared related articles in class.
Has you look up articles that relate to the economic topic each class. Makes it very "in the real world.".
Good teacher... I'm not a big fan of the sharing articles for EVERY class period. But overall great teacher. BIG ON PARTICIPATION. Open book test.
He is AWESOME! I've had a career and Everything he teaches is real world, current, and useful info. I learned so much in this class. His concern is not about making you stress over the work, but whether you really learn the material and how it's relevant in today's world. The articles help you tie the material to current events & their easy to do.
Peter's classes in a nut shell: - Starts class with Khan Academy video related to chapter concepts. - Article search to follow up on chapter concepts (ex: monetary policy). The article research includes: concept, publication, date, summary; report your article's title once you've found it. - Another video. - Another article.
He has an effective teaching method. It helped me to understand the material. The only issue I had was the final exam style was changed a week before. I think due to a complaint from a student, but I feel it was an unjust complaint that as a result I failed the final. Don't fix something that isn't broken. I prefer him to keep it the same.
Heavily participation based. If you don't feel like having to present in class readings every class, i wouldn't take it. I felt he was a clear, incredibly smart and caring teacher. The article searches are a bit much though.
One of the BEST professors I've had at this college in the past two years. I've had him for macro and micro economics. He focuses more on students understanding the concept rather than dealing with crazy charts and numbers.
One of the BEST professors I've had at this college in the past two years. I've had him for macro and micro economics.
He has a different teaching style that does not involve homework. He involves everyone with each class to discuss new topics. I enjoyed his class because I was able to learn the material during class and I didn't have to spend 10 hours a week on homework assignments. He is very educated and intelligent, especially with Economics.
Peter's class is lecture and discussions with participation by the students. You read a chapter and then come to class for the lecture and discussion of the material. He remains current on world economic events. Class participation is a must and I feel helps you understand the materiel better. He shares his economic career experiences as well.
Class is cool. He's very invested and educated on the topic.
Very good! Would take again.
Very informative with information given.
Excellent teacher! Mr. Cunningham makes taking an on-line class understandable. Communicates effectively so you know how you're doing. Is beyond fair with the understanding that you are putting forth a real effort.
This professor is amazing! He definitely saved my grade this term after I was having problems getting into the Connect Master and missed several dates. I would recommend him to anyone who asks!
Great instructor! Mr. Cunningham is a expert economist and gets to the point! Could not ask for a better instructor and is a must have for class. I give him a five star rating.
A great teacher that utilizes well both in-person and online resources. I very much respect him and his way of teaching, and hope to take another class sometime soon.
Very passionate about economics, but rushes through each topic, making it a bit difficult to keep up in class. Will call on you to provide examples to the class. Outside knowledge really helps in this class.
Great on-line instructor. Really helped me through the class, even when I was having a difficult time.
Taking microeconomics and macroeconomics back to back with Prof. Cunningham was great, especially being able to compare it to the real world facts the company I work with was going through.
Participation is what saved my grade in this class. There was a lot of information that needs to be quickly learned so he can get to the next topic. He also randomly calls on students to answer questions and give examples. Even if you take it in-class, the textbook is online so it is still very similar to an online class.
I joined the class late but with his help I was able to get caught up!
The class is centered around you not just learning but understanding the material, and yes there is a difference. In this class you will be asked at random to but the concepts into your own words and use what is taught in class and apply it to what you see going on around you in the United States and the rest of the world.
Peter is awesome! He is such a wonderful professor. I missed my final due to internet issues and he gave me an extension for my FINAL. I can't say any other professor would do that for me. If you want or need to take an economics class, make sure to take it with him!
I took web class and really enjoyed it. If you do all home work and participate in discussions it will help to take test and you will get a good grade. All clearly explained and no surprises in test. I would take another his class.
Not very helpful at all. He doesn't say a single thing until finals week. Most things are left ungraded until the end of the term. Homework and tests are fairly easy. If you are looking for any type of feedback however good luck.
Great instructor! Will help guide you through all your problems and answer your questions asap. Also gave clear instructions. Tests were hard though.
Peter is a great instructor and responds quickly to emails. His syllabus and schedule are very clear. The class consists of: weekly discussions, weekly online homework, midterm, and a final. Ive taken all of my other classes at CCC but registered at MHCC just to take economics with Peter because of recommendations from friends. One of the BEST!
Peter is a great instructor who provides feedback each week, keeps grading current, and responds to emails right away. Active participation is the key to learning and receiving a good grade in this class. Do the work and you will love this class and instructor.
Peter is a great Professor. He wants his students to learn and also achieve a high grade. He was very understanding when I had a family crisis and he allowed me to turn in late work.
Super easy and the teacher really works around your schedule and gives lots of help when you ask. If you participate and talk you will get an A. Seriously.
As an online class, it was pleasantly surprising to see such frequent and involved communication from the instructor. I certainly didn't expect this course to be so discussion-heavy, but it was enjoyable and succeeded in getting me interested in economics. I have since enrolled in further econ classes because of my time in this introductory course.
What a great online class! Discussion posts due weekly, fairly easy & nice because the questions are real world econ related. There's no way you wouldn't pass if you just try your best and do all the work, it was an easy A. There has been times where I was a day behind with weekly posts but still got the full points. Thank you Peter! :)
Peter is a great professor, the class is pretty straight forward just read and learn the material, show up to class and be involved and you'll pass. He's pretty lenient and understanding with deadlines he mostly just wants you to read and learn the material. His lectures are short, after each lecture you'll have a discussion on the topic!
I took micro and macro with Cunningham and learned a lot about economy. I took the class online, but wish I had the time to take it in class. Even online he is encouraging, always gives feedback, replies to emails quickly. And he will always go the extra mile to help you out, when you need it. He is one of the best teachers I have had at Mt Hood.
Mr. Cunningham is easily one of my favorite proffesors at MHCC. I took Intro to Economics with him, and found all the lectures intresting and informative. He incorporates students in discussion very well. If you're diligent with the homework and always attend class, the class is rewarding and pretty easy. I would really recommend it to a friend.
I totally recommend taking Economics with Peter because I honestly learned so much in his class. He's really good about getting everyone in class engaged in the discussions & won't make you feel stupid if you don't understand concepts. He'd apply current events to the material, & that helped me to grasp the material really well.
Great teacher but hard subject. Micro Economics knowledge helps greatly in this course. Mr. Cunningham is pretty flexible but be prepared to put the hours into the connect homework. Discussions online are helpful as well.
I had the peiviledge to work with Peter Cunningham both online and in class. He is a wonderful instructor. He goes above and beyond to ensure his student's success. Very professional and great human being. If you really want to know your material and excel in Economics, he is the instructor to go to.
I took EC201 and EC202 online with Cunningham and learned a lot about economy. Peter is a great Professor. He always gives feedback, replies to emails quickly. He wants his students to learn and achieve a high grade but he is pretty flexible. The classes are helpful as well.
My recommendation for you: First, register for his class then continue with checking out reviews. His classes fill quickly (popular and excellent instructor). As an online instructor, he responds emails really quick and grading is on time! Instructions are clear; he tries to help you as much as he can. Very helpful and caring, strongly recommended!
This instructor is amazing! This is my second term in economics with him and he makes it so easy! He is very understanding and flexible. I have never had an instructor be so kind an able to work with difficulties whether it be technological or personal. I would 10/10 recommend!!
Peter Cunningham is probably the kindest and most understanding online teacher I have ever had. He also responds to emails REALLY fast. Definitely recommend taking his classes!!
Mr. Cunningham is a really flexible teacher and always helpful when needed. I think Economics is a confusing concept to grasp, but Cunningham was able to extend some assignments that I was confused on so I had more time to figure it all out. Great teacher overall!!!
I took an online class and as I'm sure other people who take them know, it's hard to balance a full time job and your classes. He was understanding from the start and is willing to help if you just ask. Other than that, the work wasn't necessarily easy but as long as you did it and grasped the idea, you did well in the class.
I've had Mr Cunningham for both Econ 115 (on campus) & now Econ 201 (online). He has been super helpful the entire time. We always have really good discussions both online and in class. This was my first online class, and I high recommend taking it with Mr Cunningham! -D
Great class. The weekly discussions do a great job of putting the concepts learned in class into real life context.
Peter is a great teacher even though i have not met him personally. He lets you know what needs to be done throughly and also helps you to make sure you succeed in his class.
Peter is a great professor and also works with you and is understanding when personal life interferes with school work.
Great class, super chill teacher I would definetly take again
He's a great teacher. If there's anything that you didn't understand, he would clarify it for you. You must do ALL the discussions or else it will affect your grade.
It was a manageable and well paced course but i missed an assignment that put my grade down to a B. I contacted the professor and he worked with me and opened up past assignments so i wouldn't miss content and i could improve my grade up to an A. He seemed to genuinely care about his students. I would highly recommend taking his classes.
Gives good feedback. Workload is intensive, but not hard, so make sure to stay on top of it. Overall great teacher to have. Will be taking him for 202
This teacher has a new form of teaching and it works really well with modern day minds. He is super understanding and knows what's going on. You get all the valuable information without any of the annoying jargon or math.
I really enjoyed Peter's online course. We do weekly discussion Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. All his grading is with the weekly discussions, chapter quizzes, 1 mid-term, and 1 finals. His class is super easy and very easy to get an A if you read your materials. I would totally recommend him and would definitely take another of his class.
Peter is such a great instructor. Basically, his class was reading a chapter before a class, showing up to class, discussion (part of it was to summarize an article, in 1-2 min, that applies the concept discussed), taking chapter quiz online (in class/after class). Midterm and final were also online. I would definitely recommend this instructor.
The grading criteria is pretty clear. You just need to post 3 discussions every week, read one chapter every week, and do the chapter quizzes. There's only 2 test in the class. The teacher is very forgiving and will allow you to repost your discussions as long as you communicate with him. Overall, I learn a lot! Cool teacher.
Took both EC201 and EC202 with him online. Discussion boards are pretty much participation points. Weekly quizzes and the exams were easy and open book. EC201 was a little harder to follow as the discussions weren't lined up with the chapters.
Took this class online and was a bit surprised. Peter gets really good reviews on here but I wasn't that impressed. Grading is unclear and he doesn't communicate with his students very well. Discussions also do not match up with the weekly readings so it can be confusing. However, it's a pretty easy class with minimal work.
Its more of a class discussion rather than a lecture he is really engaged and makes the class quick and easy! I would definitely take him again no doubt.
Charges way too much for his own textbook; its just links to free YouTube videos. Unclear syllabus. Very easy class, all tests are multiple choice. Short questions due each week.
Great professor and an easy A class, I know I have a B, but that's mostly because in the beginning of the year I had a lot going on and I totally slacked off and didn't do anything. He still let me turn in everything late! we have 3 discussions once a week and two quizzes. super easy. all his tests, quizzes, and finals are true or false.
Easy A, but does not feel like a college level course and not worth the college level tuition price.
I love the way this class is set up. You have 3 discussion posts every week and one quiz. One mid term and one final. All the course materials are easy to follow and you actually get to learn some interesting stuff! The teacher himself is awesome too. He is super nice and very understanding. Would take a class with him again. Overall 100/5:)
His textbook is expensive for the fact that 90% of it is Crash Course and Khan Academy videos. But he passes that off as his textbook. It's 85$ to buy some free links, which is ridiculous. Also the grading system is really unclear and imprecise. The discussion questions in the beginning of the course rarely aligned with the 'textbook' content.
I had never taken a class online before and was a bit hesitant to take this one but the reviews were reassuring. The professor made the whole experience easy and understandable. He would always give great feedback and made sure to communicate with his students to ensure they all pass. If needed help the professor alway responded in a timely manner.
Just do the quizzes that you have basically each week. And you have 3 discussion questions each week must reply to two people per discussion question.
Professor Cunningham is willing to work with students and long as there is communication. He's flexible with his grading and cares for his students and wants them to succeed.
Professor Cunningham was great! He responded to emails in a timely manner and always helps you if needed. The course work is straight forward, you have 3 discussions/responses a week along with a couple of 3-5 question quizzes but everything you need is in the textbook. 10/10 recommended!
I wrote him on the first day of class asking if there were any resources to help pay for the textbook. He immediately wrote me back and told me that he will give me a free code to access it. The book we use is written by him and 100% proceeds go to scholarships for Economics majors. He is truly caring and a wonderful professor and human alike.
I would highly recommend professor Cunningham. His grading criteria is very clear and easy to follow. Each week we read 2 chapters out of the microeconomic textbook, and posted 3 discussion posts and replies. His class did a great job of teaching you the basics of microeconomic principles and theories.
Fairly easy class. All you have to do is read two short chapters from the textbook, do the quizzes that correspond with the assigned chapters for the week, write three discussion posts and reply to three other students a week. If you know anything about economics, the class will be a breeze. The teacher is also very understanding and caring.
It's a fairly easy class, and if you know anything about economics -- it is not challenging at all. The workload is not heavy and is very manageable if you keep up with the coursework, but the class will be hard if you let work pile up. However, if you do get behind -- the teacher is very understanding and will work with you.
Great professor! He knows the subject well and the resources he provides help you understand the material. He is easy to get in contact with and instructions are clear. There are weekly quizzes and discussions, so there aren't many opportunities to improve your grade if you struggle with quizzes but as long as you do the homework you will be fine.
If you take the online course, there is a learning curve for understanding expectations/navigating the textbooks. Easy course. Professor requires three discussions and a weekly quiz. As long as you stay on top of it, the class is easy and you can get a lot out of the reading. The professor has a lot of experience within economics, fast e-mailer.
I never met Mr. Cunningham as I took the class online. I enjoyed how he set up his class and always responded fast and nicely to any questions asked. If there is a class I need to take for credit and he is an option, I would take him again and would love to meet him in person. Very passionate about teaching.
Very easy class. Downside is him making you buy two of his textbooks. I felt like I was paying more for his class just so it could be easy. You have to share an article every class which gets old but overall very meh.
Peter Cunningham is one of the most caring professor's that I have witnessed, which really shows how a professor should be, there isn't a lot that does care, and he is one of them that does. He cares about your up to date work and will notify you if you miss ANY of the homework's and or exams, even if it's one. I recommend taking his class 100%
I would recommend any economics enthusiast pursuing economics to take economics courses with Peter. He's an amazing professor who cares about his students success & is supportive of their goals. I would retake his classes again if I could. Longtime economist, enthusiast and professor well-versed in economics, and it shows in how he teaches class.
This was a easy, straightforward class. Three discussion posts per week, and weekly quizzes consisting of 5 questions or less. The textbook covers a lot of interesting topics. I recommend this class!!
Nice short lectures and is very smart. Makes you buy two textbooks with the second one only being used for like 2 weeks which sucks but other than that not too bad.
It is necessary to buy two textbooks that cost over $150+ in total, which it is what it is. Very straight forward class, nothing to complain about. Keep it in your google calendar and do not forget.
Pretty straightforward class, learned a lot. However, if you take this course online be prepared not to know your grade until the term is over. As long as you do all the assignments, you'll get an A. Three weekly discussions with 3 responses (6 total posts), weekly quizzes, one midterm, and a final exam. Textbook is pricey but I heard he can help.
