BEST PROF EVER!!! Peter Taylor is the MAN!
Very nice guy
No Comments
An awesome professor and squash player
Easiest teacher ever, do everything he could to make sure students get high mark
The guy gives Leo Jonker a run for his money! Awesome Prof!!!
His tests are really easy and same as previous years! very helpful in tutorial
A great math teacher. Teaches Slowly and clearly. very nice and caring person
one sexy dude
Awesome
makes frequent errors when explaining, but he's clear and slow
Excellent prof. I dropped OAC algebra but got an A in 111 thanks to him.
Great prof! Absolutely the most motivating and supportive ... a great pleasure!
outstanding prof! ghetto exrpress is a funk machine!
I would rate him 6 out of 5 (> 100%) he's probably the nicest and fairest pro
Best teacher I've had at Queen's, actually seemed to care about students
Really good prof. I actually got something from that class!!!
great at explaining and really wants the class to do well
The nicest prof I had in first year. A real genius. makes the subj interesting
Very nice prof. High school style teaching makes understanding easier. Quizzes were a joke for most of the term but the application problems near the end of the term and on 50% of the exam are extremely difficult and definitely something to watch out for.
The term work is like REALLY Easy (Very Easy Tests and you can get help in the assignments too and score perfect)More than half of the final exam was straightfoward too, but the application theory questions are very complicated-study them ahead of time
Taught very well and cared for the students. Very approachable and fair.
Coolest prof at queen's, the nicest and most understanding dude at queensu
One of the nicest Profs at Queen's. It was a pleasure being in his class. Very kind and considerate. Teaches slowly and very clearly
Awesome person and very caring professor. Loved his class. Great teaching style
Excellent. Can't get a better Linear Algebra professor than Dr.Taylor. Makes the concepts crystal clear and is always willing to help. This has definitely got to be one of my best and most enjoyable classes this year. I wish all profs taught so well.
My friend, math profs do not get any better than this. Extremely nice and caring, and very good at explaining topics to students.
Other profs should learn from him. A very fair honest and dedicated professor who has genuine concern for the well being of his students.
Absolutely fabulous professor. He teaches so well and prepares us well for the exams. One of the best profs at Queen's
Prof Taylor is an amazing prof! He works hard to make his own notes, problems, tests, coureware, homework problems. Also he is greedy in trying to make loads of money off expensive courseware material. (sells all needed materials for only $15)
Peter Taylor is the best math prof ever I've been fortunate to have. His lectures are so clear, he cares and respects the students. Take whichever class he is teaching any time. A very nice man who makes everything easy to understand and enjoyable.
Linear Algebra is a tough class, but Dr.Taylor teaches very well and makes math a lot of fun. My favourite prof this year. Attend class regularly, keep up with the work, ask questions, study hard and you will be rewarded with a good mark
He's terrific
I always looked forward to attending his class. I found his lectures were very useful and he is a very cool prof.
I found that he assumed that too many people knew what he was talking about at the beginnig of the year and kind of skipped over details that could have helped the less mathematically inclined.
Best mathematics professor at Queen's University. Nuff said..
Great prof! reccomend him to anyone! especially for Math111
This prof is probably the greatest teacher you'll find in a university setting. You will not come out disappointed after sitting through a semester of his classes. Straight 5s.
OUTSTANDING prof. Really nice and wants students to do well.
best prof in math department. explain the difficult concept using easy examples and extend the idea further more the next lect. he is amazing
MOST awesome math prof of my 4 years in mechanical engineering!
Great teacher
PETER TAYLOR RULES
Brings the whole new meaning to math and algebra. He really opened my mind. Exceptional professor. Mathematician but artist in heart, truly interesting. Thank you, Professor Taylor.
The Fundemental Rule of Professor Taylor: straight 3-Fives! A great mathematician from Harvard. He re-exdefined the meaning of "teaching algebra greatly".
Great prof, but more than that exceptional human being.
Great teaching style, fun games
Math profs don't get any better than him! He rocks. I love his class.
He is an excellent professor. His teaching is of the highest possible calibre and he makes fair exams. He cares about his students a lot. A very very nice and gentle professor. My love for math has definitely gone up since I'm in his class.
very good
Great teacher, easy marker. If you study well enough for the tests/exams, then it isn't hard to pull off high nineties.
I loved this prof. Made the course information seem much less daunting. I highly recommend Prof. Taylor to any student. You will love him. He is the only prof that I have had whom I think feels an actual concern and responsibility for his students' performance.
Dr. Taylor is really NICE!!! This course has lot of difficult concepts, and attending every class is cruicial in order to get good marks or even pass.
The example problems, etc were easy, but then it came to the exams, and you thought you were prepared, and you just FAILED miserably. The questions were ridiculous
Professor Taylor is the most compassionate Prof I've ever had. His teaching style is unique and far beyond that of most conventional profs. He's awesome!
Genuinely cares about his students and loves what he does. Exams were generally fair, and assignments/practise tests were good preparation for them. Can get carried away on tangents that have nothing to do with the material though.
IDIS 303 (Math and Poetry) was super awesome. Taylor gave us really interesting problems to discuss that only required high-school level knowledge of math, but called for that extra leap of creativity. The only fun math course you can get.
One of the best profs at Queen's.
A passionate professor who is a wonderful teacher.
Genuine prof. Really caring and actually wants you to get good marks. Exams were very fair. Had him many years ago and still think of him as one of the best profs ever.
This course was required for me and I really struggle with math but because he makes attendance and group assignments a big chunk of the mark everyone has the ability to do well...
yous a cutie
I graduated about 4 years ago but I still think PT was one of the best profs I ever had.
He really wants to see everyone succeed and is the best prof i had in first year.
Amazing professor...the only one I had who genuinely seemed to care about the sucess of his students.
Great Professor, he is a tremendously kind and competent educator and is well deserving of his sterling reputation.
This man is a legend.
One of the best professors at Queens. Wants nothing more than his students to excel. DON'T miss his lectures or you will probably fail the exams (he does all his explanations in class). Only challenge is he believes all his students are as smart as he is, and moves fairly quickly through his material. Overall, great and friendly prof!
One of the best profs at Queen's. A really good guy who wants all his students to pass. As others have said he does sometimes overestimate the intelligence of his audience. Just make sure you go to lecture and talk with him personally if you get the chance.
SUPER NICE GUY! but his lecture is confusing cos he doesnt explain what he is doing. he just does them and expects you to know why he is doing it
Absolutely incredible prof. I'm not great at math but Dr. Taylor made things very clear and interesting. Unit tests are simple, assignments are challenging but doable, finals are pretty difficult. Videos are posted online for some material. There's no textbook but a $10/term workbook that is used every day. Class attendance is essential to do well.
Very helpful, will reply to any e-mail you send him, and always tries to get people to think.
PT is a beaut. so, so smart and extremely helpful, always looking to inspire students to appreciate math. He really cared about each student and went really in depth on every problem we did.
Great prof! After taking his class I chose to major in math (Apple Math)
great guy
He is an amazing professor, my only concern is I think he is just so smart that he isn't aware that students may not understand what is going on. There are many assignments in this class, which are difficult and time consuming but it's possible to get 100% on each. Peter is always willing to help students after class and outside of class hours.
Peter Taylor is alright. In lectures he gets caught up in the details a lot and I find it hard to see the main picture. However, his notes are very clear. The assignments are tough, but it helps you learn to solve problems. Practice tests are always easier than the actual thing... He likes to think you're as clever as him.
Man is a legend
Peter Taylor is the best Prof I have had at Queen's. The lectures are a bit boring but I would go and try to pay attention. His assignments are hard but prepare you well. His tests and exams are fair if you study the practice problems. Overall, he is super intelligent and a great prof.
My favorite prof. He inspires you to learn and makes math an interesting study rather than tedious number crunching. He really cares about his students and his grading is very fair. Pete Taylor is actually the greatest.
He is a great prof. Care for his students, fair grader. His test maybe a bit difficult. An angel indeed
Absolute beauty of a human being. Passionate about math and has some top notch stories. Listen to what this man has to say because he is as wise as he is smart and he has a PhD fro Harvard so he is pretty smart. Overall great guy and makes the class far better than what it really is.
I hate Linear Algebra but P.T. made it bearable. He teaches so well and answers questions like a champ. He is also the true embodiment of a grandpa, so get ready to hear some pretty weird/hilarious metaphors. 10/10
This guy actually made me enjoy math, lectures can feel a bit slow for you if you catch on with math quickly, but his teaching style is great
Gonna miss him:)) He teach pretty well in class and he does listen to students. He is an easy going prof. He is your best choice!
Perfect prof,
In the middle of COVID-19 this man's online lectures are about to save my whole grade. Now that I have access to his lectures my grade is actually going to be higher than it would have been pre-pandemic.
Best pro ever!!!!!! Just take his course!!!!!!!!!!!!
Peter Taylor is frighteningly terrific! He can come off intimidating, but take the time to know him, and he clearly wants the best for his students. He is very articulate and passionate about what he teaches, and it shows through the extra effort he puts in. Put in the work and this class should be easy!
His lectures are very interesting and he starts from the simplest of explanations, which he then builds into more complex ones. It's very easy to fall behind though. If you miss a class, you're going to be lost by the next. The assignments are hard. He generally posts a problem set before the midterm and final, which makes it easier to prepare.
Take the class with him. He's a great prof. He maybe thinks that the class is much smarter than we are but he will explain thing if you ask during the lecture. I only had him for half the 2nd half of MATH 111, but he would come to TA hours to help. The assignments are doable. He posts question sets and answers online before the midterms and finals.
I like Peter a lot, he is a very responsible prof, but the assignment is really hard. He also add complex questions involving with statistics and error coding in his linear algebra level, and it is a level 1 class... I am like whoah that is really deep. So prepare well.
Linear Algebra is a hard class, but I still look foreword to Peter's lectures. He has made the most of online class, answers questions well and in a detailed manner, and will always stay patient and positive. Get ready to work, but that is expected in an introductory math course like this, and this prof is definitely the best person for the job.
Peter Taylor is by far the most amazing prof I have ever had. Everything about his class was just great; he cares so much his students, makes the lectures super interesting, enthusiastically answers questions in great detail, is very clear about what he expects on his assessments and in overall just a really great guy
Peter Taylor is the best teacher I have probably had from Kindergarten to University. He is so accommodating to people having struggles with assignments, teaches at a great pace for math, and has adapted so amazingly to online learning. 10/10 for this absolute gem.
Peter is by far the best prof, he really do be caring for his students
This is by no means an easy class, and Ive always hated math class. Peter Taylor has made this by far my favourite course of the year. He was so kind and clearly cared about our success. I also enjoyed our class chats for people who stayed behind after the lectures. He clearly is passionate about this course & his students. Want to give 10 stars!
Great professor super helpful and lenient with assignments and any issues that may arise.
Math will become more apparent after he explains!
Peter is an absolute gem. I've never been a "math kid", but he makes math so much more enjoyable; I look forward to all his lectures. He's enthusiastic about the subject and it comes through in his lectures. MATH 111 is not an easy course, you'll still have to work for a good grade, assignments are hard on purpose, exams are can be challenging.
Great prof
Great teaching style, and illustrates the beauty of mathematics well to someone who previously did not invest much time into math classes.
Total GOAT, could listen to this man talk all day
All around amazing prof. Great lectures, interesting assignments, and very easily accessible.
By far the best teacher ive ever encountered. Clear that he has spent years perfecting his teaching style and continually looking to improve every lecture.
Peter is a great professor. His lectures are slightly hard to follow when going over difficult concepts but he is a great lecturer and a great guy.
so good
The sweetest professor ever. Cherish him
the second-coming of jesus christ
Dr. Taylor's online lectures were horrific. The course was made so that difficult problems were covered first before basic ones, which meant nobody knew what was going on. One time when the Zoom classroom limit was reached, he proceeded with the lecture as if nothing happened. The take-home midterm was extremely (and needlessly) difficult.
Peter Taylor made me truly love math. The material is difficult, but I developed a strong appreciation for what I'm learning and always felt really proud of myself after finishing a take-home assignment. I hope that one day I can be as smart as his high schoolers.
Easy if you attend every lecture and pay attention. Majority of grade is from assignments which are 100% doable and you get a lot of time to complete them (also the midterms are pretty much assignments). Nice guy, you get the feeling he really wants students to succeed. I found the midyear and the final exam relatively easy.
Very clear that he enjoys what he's teaching. Lectures can sometimes be slow but are very helpful. Assignments are usually tough but doable with groups and help from TA's. Makes his exams easy to do well on if you understand the material. Enjoyed his class thoroughly.
THE GOAT. Best prof I've had. Course is difficult but if you put in the work and go to class you will do very well. Peter prepares you very well for the exams. He is extremely understanding and you can tell instantly that he wants every single student to succeed. Would 1000% recommend.
Makes sure he explains complex ideas in an easy to understand, digestible way. Overall just a great teacher, no complaints whatsoever. Also responds to emails fast (usually responds under the hour from my experience).
Such a good prof
Great professor!
This man is amazing. So well respected and caring, he genuinely tries hard to make his classes interesting and easy to understand
Prof Taylor is amazing - he genuinely cares and makes the material engaging. The work is doable with focus, and Unstuckstudy was a big help for exam prep. Would definitely take his class again.
The goat - got an A in the class
Seems like a sweet old man but in my limited personal experience he was fairly dismissive and not very open to helping. Im sure he's a great lecturer in other courses but this was his first year teaching this course and they are some of the most confusing lectures ever and honestly not worth attendance. Course is fairly easy. Wish him the best.
PT was always very concerned about how we would do on the tests/ exam. Was very active in the group discussion board + posts very informative test guides. If you have MATH130 pray you have Pete.
Peter D Taylor is a person who emits a certain passion for mathematics. Given that MATH 130 is for life science students, you frankly may not care. He is however, very specific on what will be on the 4 mastery tests, and the exam. His teaching wasn't very good, but it's still possible to get an A.
I've heard great things about Professor Taylor but my experience in MATH 130 was that his lectures were so confusing that many chose to disregard them altogether as a waste of time. His exam had some questions that felt as they were extremely under covered if they were covered at all.
Professor Taylor was extremely accommodating and it is obvious he wants all his students to succeed. The exam and tests were all very true to the reviews he provided. His passion for the subject was very evident, and he even went out of his way to ensure his selected office hours worked well with majority of the student's schedules.
Very kind and genuine guy, clearly has a passion for math. However his lectures were just theory which was never tested, making his lectures not worth attending. The midterms were very fair and true to the review, however the final was significantly harder than the review and had multiple topics not covered at all in the review.
Very kind professor, who deeply cares for his students, he provided great insight and review to what the content of the midterms would be. However, failed to provide proper preparation for the final exam, with the test only being on half of in class learned concepts, with the rest being problems never mentioned in class, nor in the review.
Lectures were not great. But test and exam were very similar to the practice test that were given. Very easy to get a good mark.
Nice guy, but the lectures were not the best. He taught a lot of basics and theories of topics, which were not tested, making the lectures kind of pointless to go to - I found myself teaching myself every unit. The midterms were pretty easy, but the final was nothing like them, and the exam review only covered half of the actual final. Final is 52%
I can tell that he's very passionate about what he teaches and loves his students, but he unfortunately does not do very well in big lectures. He mumbles during them, making it difficult to understand what he is saying. I had to do a lot of learning outside of the class as I left his lectures feeling confused.
He very clearly wanted us to do well and provided good materials for all quizzes and exams in the class. However, lectures were unorganized and a waste of time. He made a lot of mistakes throughout the course which was frustrating. Assignments were totally unrelated to the course content 80% of the time. Nice but was not a great teacher.
