Peter is very helpful and approachable. His tests are fair, but if you are looking for an easy A this is probably an easy B class, you need to do a bit of work for the A. Overall, I will definitely try and get Peter as my prof for future econ classes
I look forward to my Economics classes every week. It's a really straight forward and easy course, just as long as you keep up with the reading. Peter's an excellent teacher, and is able to relate to students easily.
Peter expects a lot from his students. You must keep up with all of the reading in the text and be ready to discuss it in class. Pet peeve: Please stop playing with the coins in your pocket, it's very distracting!
Great Teacher so far! It's a must you need to keep up with the reading or the powerpoints because of quizzes and comment cards!
he's cool. he teaches well
Peter takes the time to make sure you understand the subject he's teaching and asks if everyone understands it.
Peter is a good teacher for lectures, on the other hand I think it needs more assignments or something that could be done to hand in instead of going on total memory. To do the homework between classes I think I would learn more.Having been out of class and academics for some time it easy to have to work on a schedule.
do more problems in class and have less multiple choice on the exams and assign specific problems so we can get an idea of what to specifically study
Great Teacher! Wants his students to understand. Is willing to ensure lesson is clear. Has high expectations. Reading and attendance is a must.
Honestly, he is a great teacher. But I think that he is going to make the final hard because a big chunk of it is waited on the hard chapters such as 13, 14, and 15. Even though he was making it look like he made it not too hard because he did some of the things that we wanted when he wrote the final, I think the final will be very challenging.
Wow! He is by far one of the better econ profs at TRU. He is pretty tough, but he makes up for it by always making himself available for extra help... it's clear this guy cares about his students. Keep it up! ;)
Given that this was his first year teaching and he is already a better teacher than many others in the department, I'm very impressed. The use of calculus was a little heavy, but he didn't test us on it. Keep it up Peter.
LOVE the way peter teaches. Amazing, makes the material super easy to understand and he's very casual in the way that he teaches his students. Stand up guy.
One of the best at TRU. Easily the best ECON Prof. Recommend a million times over. Super helpful and cares about students' performance and well being. TAKE HIS CLASS, you won't regret it.
Best.Prof.Ever. I dreaded anything economics before I took Peter's class, but he made tough subjects much simpler and easier to understand. Really cares about his students and knows how to relate to them. I wish I could have Peter for all my subjects!
Really bad teacher. His assignment keys and midterms are everywhere . When he caught on, he failed half of the class . Really lazy. Really hard midterm . Treats girls better than guys. You won't learn anything but do good for sure. Terrible teacher if your in it for the knowlege. Needs to be replaced asap .
best econ prof makes the subject interesting scraped by the first two econs not understanding anything and peter helped change that
Peter is a great Econ prof. He has extensive knowledge on the subject, but can deliver it in a clear, understandable way. His exams are challenging, so be prepared for them! The text book is helpful and I found it interesting and easy to read. He is very approachable and is always there to help the students.
Great teacher, teaches well. Tough tests though
Very difficult marker, but I promise you can't find a cooler or nicer or more helpful prof for stats! :D
Peter is a good instructor. He's relevant and interested in the topic, and in teaching! This makes it interesting and relevant to the student. An interesting guy, and wants to challenge you (read: hard marker).
Peter Rocks! I was nervous about economics because it is not a subject that is introduced in high school but he makes it so relevant. I'm a super picky student when it comes to my profs and Peter exceeds all standards. Take him and you will not regret it =)
Great teacher and a great guy. made 830 class fun and pretty exciting. definitely recommend him as a teacher, really likes what he does.
AMAZING!!! GO PETER! Loved statistics, if you study you will do insanely well. Is really clear with all of his assignments and tests and there is NO reason why you can't get at least a B in his class. He's just that helpful and that good of a prof! He makes statistics fun and that says a LOT!!! Take him ANY chance you get.
PETER IS MY BOY! best prof ever had him twice once for managerial economics and once for stats 2. super helpful, interesting, and if you do your work you'll pass for sure. Highly recommended take him whenever possible!!
Makes tough stuff simple to understand. His good looks are a little distracting though.... ;)
I had Peter for Managerial Economics. I do not really like his teaching style, he moves super fast, and scribbles things up on the board so fast I usually don't have a clue what he's talking about. He does will not provide the answer key to practice questions, it makes it really difficult to study. Assignments are vague & extremely time consuming
Explains everything very clearly in his lectures, lots of review throughout the lectures from previous chapters. Forces you to read(puts in textbook questions that could be debated) dislike. Some questions are vague. Overall great teacher and makes the course very manageable. Keep it up.
He knows his stats and he can relate to us too. Very nice and helpful.
Peter challenges his students and makes them learn. He is passionate about his field and is open and approachable.
Great
He is a realy good teacher, when comes to teaching. Notes in slides are really good, and you'll never need to look at the textbook. Midterms were quit easy, but final was really difficult. He asks tricky questions so you have to be well prepared from his slides for final. I recommend to take his class if you really want to study.
Peter is a fabulous professor. He's entertaining, interesting, and really knowledgeable on the subject. He made micro econ interesting and easy to comprehend when I didn't know anything about it. His notes are all on moodle and one really doesn't need the text book. He's a great teacher and a great person, and I would definitely recommend him!
Peter makes going to class interesting! I knew nothing about economics before I took his class now its my favourite subject. He makes class fun and really wants you to succeed. He's always willing to help and will explain it to you in terms you can understand. GREAT TEACHER! I would recommend him 1,000 times over!
Peter is an awesome professor! Super willing to help! Always loved going to his classes. Very good at describing the material and making sure you understand. Knows his stuff inside and out. I'd definitely want him as a teacher again!
AWESOME!! The BEST prof in the department!
Learned a lot! I will take another class with him again if possible!
I took econ with Charles Anaere before. I learned nothing and was completely turned off economics. Now I have taken it with Prof Dalley and I totally get it. He makes the material interesting and actually cares about his students!
Very involved and helpful instructor. Always makes time for students who have questions, even if you go on his lunch hour. He challenges his students but if you put in an honest effort, you will do well.
Bad instructor!!Enjoy making life living hell of students,no book no material nothing and tough questions on exam..Never ever take summer semester with him, exams are more difficult and more assignments and more chapters than fall or winter semester! His marking is strange,Overall avoid him!!
Peter is obviously very knowledgeable about economics but he can be hard to learn from. Very helpful and will answer your questions. Written answers on exams are difficult. His assignments also seem to be a waste of time as they take forever and you don't really learn anything useful for them. All in all though a very friendly professor.
Here's the truth. Peter is a great guy and very knowledgeable, but you will not score high in his class if you don't put in the time. The case studies are relevant to the exams. I would take his class again.
Hes a good prof but why recommend a textbook when the slides explain everything? overall hes a good prof makes class entertaining
Makes everything seem more complicated than it really is. Furthermore, things called "comment cards" are almost impossible to do well on, even if you study all the course material. He's an alright teacher if you can get past his arrogance, but good luck getting past his abysmal marking scheme.
Makes a challenging subject far more interesting than I thought it would be. He's a very good instructor and I sincerely hope to have him again. I would highly recommend him. Very approachable, friendly and eager to help. Thanks for a great semester Peter.
The matertial itself is quite hard and requires a lot of practice and studying. Some of the final questions were the same as the midterm. Peter does his best to cover the topics. I thought he was quite a good prof and always willing to elaborate if need be. And he is almost always available to answer questions via email. Would take his class again.
The course is difficult, but Peter makes it interesting is explains things well. He is always available for help, and if you actually do and study the questions at the end of the chapters you will do well on tests. His power points and in class examples are so good that you wouldn't even need the text except to practice/study the questions.
Very good and respectful teacher. Classes very organized and time is well spent in his class.
Peter is one of my favourite professors at TRU. Not only does he make class enjoyable with his charisma but he knows the material well. For myself to receive an A in an advanced statistics course means he is an amazing instructor. I would highly recommend him.
very good teacher, learned a lot. attendance is highly recommended, tests are long and usually push the time limits.
Took Peter for Managerial Economics; he is a very tough marker and gives hard tests, but is really there for his students. You will have to work your butt off, but you will truly learn the concepts and apply the knowledge post-graduation with him as opposed to other profs at TRU. And if you are stuck writing the midterm just remember.. MRMC ;)
Cares about his students. Often doesn't give any kind of criteria and forces you to wing it. He is very smart and well respected, however it is very difficult to do well in his class. Make sure you get the textbook or you will be so lost. Definitely does not teach to the tests, study old exams if possible and make study groups with other students.
Great prof. Challenges students. Makes you work hard. Always available to help. One of the few profs I actually learn from. Will def take his classes whenever I can.
He is an ok teacher, but very annoying with his marking, to the point of being discouraging. Would have done better if he explained the math more instead of treating it as arbitrary and making us piddle around with Excel and type up fancy looking reports, but I'm just a masochist like that...
A great lecturer and very charismatic. Knows his material is accepts questions from the class and answers them clearly. His test, however, are very tough. They do get into a lot of detail so you really have to take his advice and read the textbook a couple of times and make sure you know more than just the general concepts but the details also.
Peter helps students to pass his class. He is happy to see students in his office and in Economic Help Centre. Take a class with him.
Yes, Peter is tough. But you actually learn in his class, and if you need help, he is always available. If you want an easy A, look elsewhere. If you want to gain knowledge, definitely take this course with Peter. He will challenge you. Personally, I thrive on being challenged. That's why I'm at university. Thanks Peter!
Peter is super tough, especially with his "comment cards" (these make attendance practically mandatory) which can make you lose a whole grade if you're not keeping up with the readings. That said, you actually learn a lot in his class. His tests can be hard if you don't know what to study for as well. Would probably take him again.
Great prof. Definitely going to take more classes with him.
Flunked his class and have to take it again. Attended every class but was mostly lost in what he was saying and eventually couldn't catch up.
Super nice and always willing to help. His exams are hard and he expects you to know everything, kind of knowing something wont be enough. Quizzes are super easy, right out of the text book.
Awesome. Will take as many courses with him as possible. Tough, but fair and definitely learned from him.
Got an A in the midterm and was expecting getting at least a B for my overall grade, ended up with a C. The second midterm and the final were way tougher than what I expected. Kind of regret taking him. If you want a good grade do not take him, but if you want to learn things you should consider taking him.
Really cares about his students and wants them to succeed, has interesting lectures but difficult exams. If you want a good grade, you have to put in the time and work for it.
Peter has a very condescending sense of humor which I didn't really enjoy but he is a top notch professor and one of the few at TRU who can communicate effectively in English in the Economics/Business school.
What a guy. Awesome. Cool. Friendly. Coherent.
Makes a tough boring class interesting. Unlike other classes in SoBE you'll actually learn something in his class, but prepare to work.
Hard professor he is personally a nice guy and very intelligent in the subject matter but his teaching is not clear. If you are a fast learner and majoring in math or econ take his course you will probably enjoy it. For those not, it probably best to stay away. Lessons go by fast sometimes he misses steps so it is necessary to read on your own time
Good prof to take managerial ECON with during the summer. Tough course, but it goes fast! Strongly recommend taking during summer session if you can. Thx Peter for a great semester!
If you want to succeed at this course, you MUST read the book. At the end of the course, you'll be sick of it, but it will help you with understanding the material. Peter on his classes explains the same material of the textbook just in simple words. So, reading a chapter before the class will be a good idea.
Wow! I actually learned something! He makes you work, and he is tough, but he's always available for help. So glad I took stats with him!
He is a tough grader . prefer some other professor if you want really good grades and make your life easy.
Dalley is a tough grader, he will make you work and he will help you every step of the way to earn the grade that you deserve.
Don't Take Him, Worst Experience Ever. He expect you to know everything. And Very Hard in test.
exam are not easy to tackle. Hard to understand in class.
Just had Dalley for Stats 2 in summer session. Learned so much. highly recommended!
Amazing Prof! I've tried to take as many courses with him as possible. so far i've taken 3 with him. best prof in the dept easily. even better now that he has video tutorials available for stats! thx!
Great Teacher
Wrost teacher ever. please do not take him for stats 2. he gives you case study with different approach. dosent tell you what or how to do them. also his mid terms sucks. only reason you want to get your money and time wasted, attent his class.
Peter is a great teacher and mentor. Strongly recommend. if you struggle with English, then his statistics course may be a challenge, because it is writing intensive. His online videos are a great help! Thank you.
Peter's classes are basically him reading off the slides he posts on moodle. I personally didnt take notes in his classes and still managed to get a good grade on the midterm(s). That was just through reading the textbook and powerpoints on my own without his help. You are only marked on quizzes, the 2 midterms, and the final. So know the material.
Wow, finally an instructor who makes you earn your grade. The workload is heavy, but worth it. I would caution students with poor language skills to be aware. His stats course is writing intensive and those who struggle to write, will struggle in the course. Peter makes stats about a lot more than just formulas and numbers.
Tough class. Must read textbook. Peter covers tools of economic analysis in lecture, but tests you on how well you understand how to use and apply those tools. Questions on exams are unlike anything you see in class.
Awesome professor! He challenges you to understand the material rather than memorize, which I prefer! You can actually leave his class and explained what you have learned to someone who knows nothing about the topic. His contribution will benefit me greatly!!
Peter is very knowledgeable... if this is your first econ class you will struggle a lot at the start because he doesn't fully explain simple concepts and focuses on the advanced student's questions. You will learn a lot though. His midterms are very hard but quizzes are easy marks if you read the textbook.
Omg I've never had a prof care as much as Peter! He loves his students! Especially those who are willing to work hard. I suspect those who feel otherwise are the slackers, who I can understand why he wouldn't care about!! Haha! You work hard to learn and Pete will work hard to teach you. Thx for a great semester! Online videos are a huge help too!
Most helpful, approachable prof ever. will take as many classes as possible with him. Was never interested in Econ. Now I'm as passionate as he seems to be! If I become an economist, it'll be because of Peter.
Peter is a great teacher, I've had him for both micro and macro ecomics and both were great! Stats is a really hard course, but Peter is always there to help explain any concepts. He has online videos and a workbook that I found to be extremely helpful when studying for tests and just to get any extra practice in I can. Definitely recommend him
Peter is easy to understand and knows the material thoroughly. He tries fervently to get the class involved and gets very excited when Economics-related discussions happen in class, even if they are not quite on topic and eat up some class time. I am definitely looking forward to his Stats class. Great professor!
Peter was an excellent instructor. He really knows his material and he presents it in an interesting way. His exams are hard and you need to study, but he is willing to help you if you just ask. Attendance is not more mandatory than other business classes, but there are participation marks via random "Comment Cards".
Peter is a great economics prof and really knows his stuff. He makes you work for your grade, so read the textbook as much as you can. His exams are a bit tricky and you need to study for them. He is very helpful as long as you ask. Attendance is important as he gives out random comment cards and only warns you of a quiz one class in advance
If you're a normal student, you're probably taking statistics because it's mandatory; take it with someone like Peter who explains the material clearly and has practice problems complete with video tutorials. He'll give you a few case studies, but they're made to give you practice with the concepts you've learned. He's a great econ professor.
Peter is a great teacher, but you will need to work for your grade. If you attend class, do your homework and participate you should do well. Peter cares about his students and is always willing to help if you just ask!
great guy, lousy proof
Hahaha lousy "proof". Yea, that kid has it together. Peter is great. Take him whenever you can. I'm majoring in econ because of him.
Peter is a great prof, he is very enthusiastic about statistics and knows the subject very well, his online workbook would be worth subscribing to in my opinion, i only used his videos and was able to get 80%+ on midterms, they are a good substitute for the textbook and much cheaper. Case studies are easy if you follow his format he lays out for u.
Peter is one of the better profs at TRU. He has a bit of a reputation for being a tough prof, so please don't take up a spot in his class if you're looking for easy marks. If you're looking for someone who teaches well and challenges you to do your best, then Peter is your guy. Expect weekly case studies too, but they aren't that bad.
He's a very respected professor, and I believe he knows what he's doing but he isn't great at explaining things. Be prepared that if your class doesn't know answers to questions you'll get a lecture about how you aren't prepared for the final and how he doesn't know how you'll do well instead of just taking the time to explain the concepts again.
Weekly reports are pretty hard but eventually you understand how he marks and your mark will improve, at the end, each of them are only about 2% of your grade anyway. Midterms are ok, mostly multiple choice and then usually only one written question. He's very approachable and happy to help if you need it.
Peter a good professor. He explains the material well and gives you every chance to succeed. But you have to work for it. Do the work, use his You Tube videos and use his Statistics Workbooks and you will get through statistics. Unlike other Stats professors at TRU, his exams are not surprises. What you practice will be similar to the tests.
Peter is an amazing prof. Had him for managerial and stats two. He really cares about the students who reach out for help. No cheap shots or surprises on the test. Not an easy marker, but very fair. He challenges you to have a true understanding of the subject and his enthusiasm is contagious even if you've always hated Econ. Would take again!
I would love to just keep having Peter as a prof. He cares a lot about his students, is easy to get help from, and does a thorough job of teaching. I told him I wanted an A+ at the beginning of the semester and he helped me achieve it (but I had to put in a lot of effort - stats requires that!).
Please don't take his class. It was the worst class ever. Report homework every week. You won't learn anything class. You'd better study by yourself with any youtube videos (not his). Awful, terrible. even rating 1 point is tooooooo much for him.
Peter was fantastic, he is not a Prof for an easy A however. But even though I got a b is his class as a straight A student, I still felt accomplished at the end of it. Super hard working guy and just requires you match his efforts. Definely recommend.
Peter makes you work for your grade but if you put in the time and effort you will do great. If you go to his office hours he will make sure that you get the grade you want on your paper. There are assignments due every week and you have to attend class in order to receive credit. Best stats teacher at TRU.
This class is very important if you are planing to work for a company. You will need to know calculus and stats well. However, Peter Dalley is not the best to take the course if you really want to learn. He explains awful and if you are not a fast thinker in numbers you'll get lost easily. The exams are hard and not from class or book.
Hard course. Peter doesn't explain properly so you will be constantly confused. Book can save you if you read every chapter before class. Exams and quizzes pretty hard. Unfriendly teacher.
Tough class but Peter is an excellent teacher, I have no complaints at all. Tests are fair, marking is fair and you generally know what to expect. Peter will tell you to study the material ahead of time before the lecture. This is VERY GOOD ADVICE as the the topics take repetition to get a grasp of.
Best teacher of stats in TRU. He teaches so well. exams are easy. expect the material that he teaches in class. Gives proper instructions how to study for exams. Assignments are bit challenging but as one start doing them will find those easy. Peter is easily approachable even outside classes. He guides his students but makes you work for course.
Peter is awesome. He is a hard marker but the course overall is a tough course, if you put in the effort he treats you kindly and is helpful and approachable. If not he can be harsh and condescending. The assignments sucked for this and were a ton of work for not a lot of worth of the course. Definitely, need to put in the effort and you'll do fine
Good guy, can be tough on students and you must work hard for your grade. He is a smart guy and knows his stuff, uses examples that are easy to understand. Keep up with the pace of the class and you will be fine. Use the textbook!
Peter doesn't care for the students. He'll give you easy midterms but the final will be soo hard that you cannot even think of passing the course. Attendance is mandatory otherwise you cannot submit the assignment that he gives every week which are very tough. Worse prof ever. Regret taking him
Worst teacher ever.
He was extremely caring and very helpful. He has absolutely zero tolerance for excuses, dishonesty, cheating, and laziness. He expects his students to work hard and to earn their grade. Unless you plan on working hard and being a good student, I would not recommend taking him. If you want to be challenged and learn lots, he's the best there is.
Amazing stats prof! Great course. So glad I took it with Peter. Lots of homework, but its very helpful to learn the softer side of stats (communication vs mathematics). Attendance is crucial. Reading the textbook and watching his videos a huge help. Hes mean to lazy students, but otherwise, wow! Give this guy a raise!
Definitely recommend! Econ 2900 is a tough course and Peter understands that and does everything to help. He cares for his students a great deal. Be prepared to work hard, read lots, study, and learn. If I could take other courses with peter, I definitely would. Hes among the best in SoBE.
Peter is a great prof! He gives wonderful interesting lectures and explains everything several times with simple examples. However, this course is not easy and if you want to pass - definitely read the textbook, do practice tasks in the book and come to the class even though Peter does not normally take attendance.
Took him last fall, I was scared when he presented the outline at the beginning but every assignment, every work he gives has a purpose. Study hard, attend classes - Stats 2 will not be tough when you take it with him. He is really a great teacher. Looking forward to take more classes with him. He is really great! :D
He doesn't care about student success, he is rude. I would never take a class with him again.
Amazing. Brilliant. Absolutely wonderful person. Thank you!
really good teacher. I liked him so much, we had 3 quizzes and two midterms. you are better not to skip the class because he has comment cards to check who is in class. his questions for quizzes are from the review in the book. Final weights 40% but it is similar to midterms. I have never felt boring on his lectures, he shows a lot on the board.
Worst in TRU
Best in TRU
Amazing instructor! Explains everything thoroughly several times in class, gives good examples. Clear grading criteria. 3 quizes with open questions, 2 midterms. HOWEVER, be ready to work in his class: read textbook, do practice after chapters and dont miss lectures as they are really good. It was my second course with him, got an A+, my fav prof
The kindest thing I can say is that it is only 75% true that he is the "w- in TRU." He expects the students tove ESP. Because what he teaches, is not what is assessed. Neither reading the textbook helps. If he knows this is what his students need to know, pave that too in teaching. NSFL students. ? retained,? dept. objectives,no good econs avail.
-Best Econ Prof in TRU
people have wrong opinions about him. He is an amazing professor he gives a lot of examples to make students understanding about the course material more clear. Be ready to read the material before class. He is always prepared for his class so he expects the same. overall he is a nice professor but a tough grader :-)
If you want to excel in stats 2 this is not the professor for you. Weekly assignments with no clear criteria how to do them. Then he marks them them heavily. The final exam is crazy literally you feel you did nothing
Peter is a great professor, he will tell you what you do and do not do from the beginning of the class. If you feel it's so hard drop from the class. If you find that you want to stay, you have to follow his rules. His class has assignments every week but through that you can understand the lecture well.
Too much assignments, tough grades and difficult final exam
Peter has great knowledge about the course but he's way too tough whenever grading. Instead of focusing on making his students learn he focuses on failing them. During the course, you have weekly assignments and midterms come pretty heavy.
Peter Dalley teaches really well on his videos which we have to pay extra. In class, he is really lazy and teach the bits, very harsh on checking assignments and will only tell you what's wrong in your assignments after checking, atleast a heads-up on how he wants the assignment would be great. Overall, lot of stresses...
He was an amazing professor, if you just study the chapters, you'll pass the class
He is a tough grader for sure but if you put in a bit more effort he makes sure the concept is easy to grasp. Overall, would recommend him to someone who is genuinely interested in microeconomics or read to put in extra work.
MAKE SURE TO ATTEND ALL THE CLASSES AND SCORE MAXIMUM ON MIDTERMS AND ASSIGNMENT, EVEN THO IT'S A PROBLEM PAPER MY FINAL WAS MORE THEORY. GOODLUCK GUYS
TAKING HIS CLASS IS LIKE TAKING UNNECESSARY STRESS HE TRIES VERY HARD TO BE DIFFERENT THAN THE REST OF THE TEACHERS IN THE PROCESS MAKES HIS STUDENTS STRESSED OUT AND FRUSTRATED. CHAPTERS WERE TAUGHT IN A HURRY ASSIGNMENTS WERE NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO COMPLETE ALTERNATE DAY QUIZ . REFUSES TO GIVE PERSONAL ATTENTION
very rude no one knows how he grades his papers as he does not show them just posts grades in moodle Unnecessary challenges that will make your life tougher. your future in this course depends on his mood he seriously doesnt care about his students you will not receive any help but only sarcasm from him I am glad my semester will be over soon
He taught hypothesis testing well but after that all other chapters were barely taught. He asked questions in the midterm from the incomplete chapters. You wont know where he gets his questions from so reading textbook or videos dont help. He is rude and has a bad attitude which makes his students very uncomfortable. I will never recommend him.
Holy smokes it looks like a few students were grouchy with Peter! The guy is great. Yes, he expects you to work. Yes, he expects you to have a grasp of prerequisite material. No, he has no patience for immature attitudes or poor work ethic. If you want to learn, take him. If you want an easy mark, stay away. He is ALWAYS available to help!
Really helpful if you have questions, but reading the textbook helps
WORST PROFESSOR IN TRU. NO HELP WITH THE ASSIGNMENTS AND VERY LITTLE EXPLANATION OF THE CHAPTERS. HE DID NOT FINISH ALL THE CHAPTERS BEFORE MIDTERM YET HE ASKED QUESTIONS FROM THOSE CHAPTERS. VERY DISAPPOINTMENT WITH HIM. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND HIM
I was really excited to take his class as his videos are helpful but in the class he was a real disappointment. We did not receive any extra help. He has no consideration for students. My assignments were marked incorrectly and even after continuous requests he did not respond. Dont take him if you are a little weak with numbers as he will not help
Loads of assignments, No help, No consideration, Lot of attitude, Does not show the papers after grading so you will not know why and how you got the grade. Does not provide any extra help or support. Videos are easy but pointless as the problems asked in the exams are different . My recommendation would be DO NOT TO ENROLL FOR HIS CLASS.
One of the sternest professor in TRU, expects too much from students.
The worst faculty in TRU. He taught us in the class but it was useless as in the exams he asked questions that was never discussed or taught. He has a bad attitude towards everyone. Extremely average teacher pretending to be a know it all. My advice would be don't waste your semester and money on this entity find another professor.
Peter has a lot of experience in the field of economics, he uses this experience to break down difficult topics to explain them in a much simpler way. His exams are heavy and he is a tough grader for sure. He wants your answer to be 100% exact what's in the book else you lose marks.
He is tough, but in a reasonable way. He challenges you to really push yourself to get good grades. He may have quite an attitude to some extent, but honestly, it's hilarious! His lectures are amazing, his exams/assignments are similar to whatever materials he has given and he has been doing great delivering the course content online recently.
Taking him for Stats II wasn't actually too bad. Definitely not an easy A, but if you attend all lectures, take lots of notes!!, do the (easy) preparations he tells u for the assignments, and do his practice questions, u should be fine. Actually pretty entertaining guy sometimes
Peter is an awesome guy but tough grader. Definitely makes you work for your mark. His midterms hovered around a 40% fail rate if that gives you an idea. It felt like he tested more material and tested more specifically than others in the department. Once classes moved online cause of covid he uploaded an extreme excess of materials. Overwhelming.
So much material to study. Gives less time to complete exam. Never understood what he wants students to write. If we write what he teaches he puts case of violation of academic integrity and if we don't write the exact concept then he doesn't give marks. Would never take his class ever again in future. Doesn't care about students opinions n rqsts.
During such times, courses were supposed to be a little bit easier on students rather Peter uploaded whole bunch of material on moodle. In 1 month course there were tonnez of topics to study and Peter is a very hard grader. This course was made so much difficult and overwhelming with a lot of syllabus. Will never recommend to take a course with him
He is a good guy but is a tough and late responder. I won't take a class with him again. He tries to complicate the material and put fooling questions in all his assignments and midterms.
Peter was a very hard professor. There was often 10 lecture videos to watch a week and the ideas in the lectures were very seldom on the tests. I never got higher than a 70 in his course and the average on the midterm was 52% when I am usually an A student. He is an unnecessarily hard professor. Would not take a class from him again.
Such a waste! of your time and money. Do not take this professor otherwise, you will regret it. The expectations of the professor are too high. Poor teaching skills. Poor communication skills. Have a negative attitude.
Amazing prof! Tough course. Worked hard and aced it! Thanks you! So helpful and always available to help. And youll need his help! Course is tough! He makes lots of resources available. Dont take advantage of them and youll probably have a tough time!
Peter is a great statistics prof, but his class is hard. He has youtube videos of him doing practice problems which is very helpful to learn from, however don't take this class expecting an easy pass. You have to work hard in this class and put in the effort to pass. Weekly excel assignments were very helpful to know how you were doing withtheconte
I won't recommend him ever to anyone. He always tries to make it complicated although during the lecture time he says he is simplifying!!!! He is not clear on what he expects from students, there is a void between him and class. I wasted my time and money taking ECON 2330 with him. I wish I took OL instead.
Peter's serious attitude and care for students are obvious, but he really made this course difficult. Evaluate objectively, if you are looking for a reasonable way to spend ECON2330, Peter is not a good choice. Some of the accusations against international students below are absurd. As an international student, I feel very chilled by these comments
I hate students' false accusations against him. Knowing his stuff, he is a great Professor and has clear expectations for students. Taking a course from Open Learning would solve your problem? I don't think so because a person without discipline really can't do well in it.
Awesome teacher, for my first year in business Peter, is awesome and honestly was one of my best profs this year. Thank you for making online teaching great!
One of the best professors at TRU. Peter truly cares about his students and always expressed how much he respects his students and how hard they work. He is great at teaching and his assignments and tests really reflect what he teaches. He is passionate and I would definitely recommend him.
Peter is a knowledgable professor but lacks enthusiasm. His class lectures are asynchronous but has weekly Q&A's where students submit questions before the class. If you don't attend you loose participation marks. Marks were made up of a few assignments which acted like tests as well as a mid-term and final, the rest was participation marks.
When your classes midterm average is 53% your know the teacher isn't doing something right.
you will have assignments every week and even if you follow his instructional videos of how to do it, you will received a bad grade. He doesnt give enought time for either midterm and final. You will be running out of time for both part of the test and getting more frustated and stressed. This class will only make you fell stupid and less.
Peter Dalley gives too much workload to his students, and after all that, you still end up with a low grade. I would not suggest taking his class because it is a waste of time and money.
Dont waste your time taking his class cause even if you try to do everything good you will get a very low grade and he will just give you stupid non sense feedbacks. He is the worse prof he doesnt help you on anything and he will make you feel a total stupid for this class.
If you are taking a course from Peter, I advise you to watch all the lectures, take notes and solve practice problems. Then you will definitely pass the exam. Peter himself is friendly and quick to respond to e-mails.
STUDY HARD ATTEND HIS LECTURES TAKE NOTE BE RESPECTFUL AND STILL YOU WILL END UP WOTH AN AWEFUL GRADE. i TRIED TO COMMUNICATE WITH HIM TO FIND OUT HOW I CAN IMPROVE BUT WAS SHOWN THE DOOR! IT FELT LIKE HE DOESN'T HAVE TIME FOR HIS STUDENTS AND GETS IRRITED BY QUESTIONS. TAKE THE GRADE HE THROWS AT YOU AND LEAVE I WILL NOT RECOMMEND HIM
Just dont waste your money and time with Peter! He will act like he cares about his students but in reality he doesnt. Dont matter how hard and how much effort you put on this class you wont pass. Find another professor please !!
Don't take him! He makes you watch hours worth of videos and expects you to know everything after watching useless boring videos.
Highly self-centered person. He teaches to show what you do not know rather than you have the ability to score good marks. He take out the confidence to study economics & statistics. Not at all helpful in clearing doubts. 1st he will frighten you with his expectation and his questions in class will be easy while assignments of very difficult level.
Peter is a very friendly and fair professor. Most students are lazy and assume you can pass STATS with minimal effort which is not the case. He tries his best to make a difficult subject as easy as possible. The guy even tweaked his formula sheet to make it easier this semester. He's not an easy A but you will definitely learn a lot from him.
You have to understand that Peter is not a professor for those who don't want to put effort. He is a tough grader, but he is an AMAZING teacher. He explains everything, gives all the materials to study for his tests and exams. You just need to take it and study. He is available to help. He is the prof with whom you learn, not just pay to sit there.
To every student who isn't good at stats, I would recommend not to pick Peter as ur professor. U need offline classes more rather than watching YouTube videos. Pick a professor who teaches and solves problems in class where ur doubts can be solved on the spot. Here even if u have a doubt u will have to wait for his reply or meet him for a meeting.
If you put the work in you will do well in this class. Professor Dalley provides you with the resources you need to succeed. His online workbook and youtube videos are extremely helpful and really prepare you for the exams. The quizzes and assignments can be a bit tricky but if you follow his feedback and read the textbook you will do fine.
Peter is an amazing professor. His video tutorials and feedback are awesome. His marking is tough but fair, and his course will challenge you to do your best work. You have to study a lot for this class, theres no other way around it. But, if you study hard you will do well in his class.
Never ever take this Prof if you want to pass the course.
Highly recommended. Amazing professor!
Attend the class, ask questions
Just a passive-aggressive fellow, who brings negative energy into class. It deters you from wanting to speak to him or ask questions, his quizzes and exams are fair but learning shouldn't be a negative experience.
Peter is a good teacher but his tests are hard. You will get questions about things that will definitely throw you off, no matter how much studying you do. They aren't very straight forward. His class will require lots of studying, so do not take other hard classes alongside this class. He teaches tons of material in such a short amount of time.
Two phrases, artful vagueness and deliberate overcomplication.
He keeps saying how basic this course is, and when you look at it, it really is basic. It's just him overcomplicating it, which is not his intention but could make the course unnecessarily complex and tough to go through. With such tough grading, learning and understanding become secondary when thinking about grades.
Gave a normal difficulty quiz and assignment, then made the midterm WAY harder than it had to be.
Peter made very simple things very complicated. Otherwise not horrible.
He is good at lecturing, but is always rushing because he needs to have an in class assignment every week. So the lecture days are basically cut in half ( 1 day per week). It would be nice if he could ease of the assignments and lecture a bit better. But the stuff is really not that hard when you watch his videos.
Professor Dalley runs a challenging but rewarding class. His lectures are a bit rushed, but the video tutorials and feedback are super helpful. Using Unstuck study alongside the textbook can really boost your study prep for his tough but fair exams.
He is an amazing prof. If you read the textbook carefully, you will do everything well.
Peter rushes through complex topics quick, and his exams are very tough. He is very knowledgeable, but I do not like his format at all, where he has an in-class assignment every week that must be finished and submitted before class ends. I missed a quiz once because I was sick, and he did not let me take it again. Do not recommend.
He is rough person
Having a professor like him is less likely to help you love tough subjects.
He may know more than others but that doesn't make him a good teacher
He is better at twisting words than teaching students.
Exams have EXTREMELY difficult MCQ's!!! Not a very practical or fair grader. I'd recommend going to the Sacred Heart Cathedral pre and post exam, as you will need God through this course! An intelligent man cursed by his own complex-mind. Can't simplify things to save his life. Should stick to YouTube videos - Aggrieved Above Average Student
He's good, lots of resources
Peter's the best stats prof out there. Attendance counts (comment cards), but missing a few won't kill your grade. Missed a quiz because you were sick? You had 24 hours—use a reminder. Weekly assignments are tough but fair, and his prep videos help. Exams are hard, but easier than Charles's. Review quizzes and practice problems—you'll be fine.
Don't put much focus to his YouTube videos, the calculations he does on there barely have the answers to the kind of questions he'll be giving you throughout the course. the lab assignments are very critical to helping you understand his course and credit to him, if you understand the assignments you'll definitely pass his course.
Course is tough, but you will learn a lot regarding implementing statistics in real world.
He makes sure to give feedback for all assignments and midterm. He gave an opportunity to make up for a bad midterm, in a section of the finals. He makes sure you understand the important details and his videos are helpful.
Peter is straightforward, kind, and helpful who truly cares about his students. If you put in the effort and time that ANY economics course requires, you will succeed. He always comes in with a smile and never fails to make us laugh. As a student with a difficult courseload, his class to brighten up the day makes all the difference.
chill guy
