The best professor I've ever had!! His classes were fun and engaging. He is enthusiastic and connects well with student.
Great! guy. Perdio!
Great! guy. Period!
Really funny and nice guy.. I enjoyed his class!
Peter Finn is an excellent teacher. This class is so easy, but I'm a psych major. All you have to do is pay attention in class and read the chapters, and you'll get an A. If you don't go to the lectures, you will be lost!! I recommend him if someone is looking for an easy p102 teacher!
His lectures are clear, but you HAVE to go and pay close attention or you won't get good grades on the exams. It's as simple as that.
Great professor, really made me feel like i could approach him with problems; which i did and he solved so much! Overall, just definitly need to go to class (IMPORTANT!) and make use of his office hours hes so nice and helpful
His tests were way too hard for a 100 level class. He only brushes over each topic you are required to know. As a Junior, this is one of my most challanging classes I've taken. Aviod if possible!
He's very helpful if you go to office hours - definitely go to class even if you're tempted not to. Most of the exam material is from his lectures, class is easy because he posts partial slides beforehand and then fills them in during class, but also be sure to read the book!
What a great professor! This guy is funny, enthusiastic, and has an awesome Canadian accent. The class is ridiculously easy. I don't know what the deal was with the junior who said it was super hard, but it's not. I didn't read the textbook at all. Go to class, take notes, study for like 2 hours before every test, and you'll be fine.
His tests are hard. Seems to be a bit challenging for a 100 level course!
The required text is easier to understand than he is. His lectures aren't as detailed as his tests
Don't take this class.. he speaks above your head considering he teaches a 100 level class.
He's a good guy.
He is a fun, enthusiastic guy. He taught very well and as long as you go to class and pay attention and study for 1-2 hours before test, then you'll be fine. Also, be sure to make use of office hour if necessary, he's very helpful! Great professor! Don't understand those juniors who said his class was too hard!I took this class in my freshman year.
Professor Finn is a really great teacher. He's funny and interesting most of the time. I really didn't find his class or tests difficult, but I did take AP Psych in high school so that could be a factor. If you attend class and read the book a bit before the exam, you'll be completely fine. His tests are fair.
He's a bit boring, but not a bad class.
All round good teacher. Tests are pretty straight forward and lectures are well organized.
He's funny, easy to relate to. GO TO CLASS!!! I punted off the PowerPoints for the classes I missed and didn't understand the concepts well, but I food it easy to remember most of the details from the classes I attended. The tests aren't easy, but they're manageable. He's nice. One time I slept through a test and me let me make it up the next day. Do connect & the psych experiment participation. I like the way he says sorry
His test questions are from the book and from lecture so go to class. He's boring, but not a bad teacher.
Very funny and personable guy. You don't even need to attend class he puts all his power points online and they already say everything. Study the power points for the tests.
Dr. Finn does a great job of explaining the material and the tests aren't too hard but you can't blow them off. Attendance at lectures are not mandatory which is nice if you want to sleep in but he does give test hints at lectures so I'd say attend as many as possible.
Dr. Finn is pretty straightforward. Attendance not mandatory but stuff in class on test that isn't in textbook, and he tells you whats on test, or hints. Interesting enough lecture. Grade is of four scantron tests and four completion grades. Make sure you do the online completion stuff, or else your grade super drops.
Buying the textbook is essentially worthless - everything on the test is lecture-based. He is very clear in lecture, but the tests are more challenging than other P102 tests. Tests are 95% of your final grade as well.
Professor Finn is my favorite teacher so far at IUB. He is extremely clear in what you should do to prepare and know for the test. While attendance is not mandatory, make sure you come to class to fully understand concepts and gain extra knowledge that is not in the book but on the test. He makes his class very enjoyable to go to as well.
Favorite Professor so far. Super easy class. Go to lecture and he gives you tons of hints for the test. Don't read the book. Just do the five online assignments (graded on completion) and put a little bit of time in studying the night before the test and its an easy A. The 5 test are scan-tron and no cumulative final!!
He's a really engaging and open professor. Go to class, take notes in lectures, do the book assignments, and you should be fine.
Very, very clear about what you need to know for exams and a super nice guy. Exam questions are nearly word-for-word with notes. Go to class!!!
Make sure to go to class! The book is basically worthless. If you are struggling, GO TO OFFICE HOURS. You will get the help you need and it will be worth it! Very nice professor!
Professor Finn is THE BEST psychology professor I have ever had and most likely the best professor in general. His class is structured very easy come to class and listen and you will pass with an A. He makes it super interesting especially his section on abnormal psychology. If you get the chance TAKE HIS CLASS I promise you won't be disappointed.
Super helpful with anything you need clarification on, especially if you meet with him during office hours.
Professor Finn was an excellent lecturer and made it clear from the beginning that he would be there for students that need more guidance. His tests are straightforward, based mostly off the lecture slides. Show up to class and you will be fine.
Dr Finn is a great teacher. His lectures are interesting, helpful and funny. He's always willing to help students who come to class and make an effort.
Professor Finn is an awesome professor. His class was challenging but rewarding because he expected students to contribute and actively think. I would recommend Dr. Finn simply because he cares about each and every student and wants you to learn and take away information after class, not simply memorize things.
This class was very easy but he did not provide very engaging lectures.
very easy, lectures are a bit on the boring side. nice enough professor, though.
Brilliant person in every aspect, always available to speak to outside of class. Lectures can get a little boring though, especially at 8am
Prof. Finn was a pretty good professor. He tried to keep his lectures engaging and interesting. He also provided many examples for difficult concepts we discussed in class. His tests were pretty straightforward but definitely require some studying. Overall, his class was fairly easy and he offers a lot of extra credit!
He is really understanding and tries to keep things interesting, considering it was an 8 am class. He's really energetic and passionate about his job. He also has really interesting personal anecdotes he shares often. He's just really great! Highly recommend.
Great person in general, very intelligent, willing to meet but is a very busy person, gives amazing feedback, office hours are great, much of lectures are on exams so do NOT skip them
Professor Finn is awesome! He's hilarious during lectures and just in general! He's a great professor and has great lectures! Don't miss your chance to take this class, iIhighly suggest it! It can be challenging but if you study and do all the extra credit ops you should be fine!!
Professor Finn was one of my favorite professors on campus. He is intelligent, funny, and truly cares about his students. He tries to make the material as interesting as possible, and he really does want his students to succeed. I definitely recommend him as a prof.
Dr. Finn was pretty great but as someone who took AP psychology in high school I knew most of the material so I pretty much just coasted along. Exams are worth 95% of grade so be wary of that. But other than that he was very engaging and fun, but having it at 8am kinda sucked.
Dr. Finn taught me how to take psychology exams. I finished PSY101 with a C+ and thought I would never be able to major in psychology. After taking his course and with his help I was able to succeed in 102 and further courses. He met with me outside of his scheduled office hours to go over his lectures for a second time to make sure I understood!
An easy class if you're familiar with basic psychology. The tests are multiple choice, extra credit is offered every section, & the homework is easy. His lectures are fairly interesting. For my class, eventually he made students email him to let him know they were in class in order to get the full lecture notes however, so attendance is important.
One of the best professors I have had. Funny and gives great lectures plus some extra credit assignments. He does a great job of meeting one on one with students if they need extra help. Grades are test heavy, but if taken seriously and with a lot of studying it is a decently easy class.
Dr. Finn has some amazing stories to tell, and his lectures are very engaging. His tests are clear and to-the-point, and as long as you study the powerpoints he posts and actively listen in class, you are guaranteed an A.
Super easy if you show up and listen in class, might as well give away the test answers. Really awesome teacher, makes lectures interesting and super easy to reach out to for help. Solid 10/10 professor.
Prof Finn was the best I have ever had. He cares so much about his students and did amazing doing this class during the pandemic. He explains everything well and if you reach out to him, he will not let you struggle. An amazing teacher!
Love Dr. Finn! His lectures were engaging and his commentary much appreciated.
Such an amazing professor!
Lots of watching videos, but honestly, such a funny guy, so helpful and is very helpful with time conflicts. Best prof I have ever had!
Please take him if you get the chance!! The most I ever have learned from one course!!
I took Dr. Finn's Psych102 class online and it was great! His lectures are very easy to watch and entertaining. He responds to emails very quickly and does not want you to hesitate to reach out. As long as you watch all the lectures and take good notes you will do well in the course plus he is a super nice person.
best professor ever!!! definitely take p102 with him!
This was the best professor I have had thus far. He solidified my choice in majoring in Psych. He is an amazing lecturer and makes it extremely interesting to learn. Fast email responses and does study sessions out of class and if you go to a lot/all of them then he will give you extra credit. Do the work and you will succeed.
Good professor, but you're graded on few things, so it's hard to support your grade if you do poorly on an exam. Exams were open note (for online class) and was relatively simple, as long as you read the lecture slides and did the homework
Don't have a lot of points for opportunities but still a great professor. Very helpful and accessible, and makes lectures interesting. Would highly recommend.
Dr. Finn is one of the most laid back professors I've ever had. The class was seminar based and attendance and participation was mandatory. Overall the class challenges you and prepares you to read and understand scientific literature. If you show up to class you will pass!
Notes were a strong blue with neon yellow, professor had monotone voice in lectures, made me fall asleep. Material covered was interesting, just wish I had a different professor. Emailed him to see what my final grade was, and he specifically implied that I can't do basic math in his email back. Very unprofessional and hope I never have him again.
His class is one of the easiest class I had this past semester. Since this was an online class, his lectures were pretty much what he tested us on. There were no quiz, just homework, experiment assignment, extra-credit assignment and exam. His exam are also open notes, so as long as you prepared beforehand, it is hard to fail his class.
There is about 1 assignment every two weeks that is about 10 questions. Tests are worth 90% of your grade, so definitely watch the lectures.
Very easy class, nice professor
I took P102 this spring and I really enjoyed his course! I did the online asynchronous and it was not too demanding at all. He posts video lectures for all the chapters that are fun and easy to follow. The homework is straight forward and he provides extra credit opportunities for each chapter. Looking forward to other Psych courses with him.
I would definitely suggest this class to another person or friend. You will be totally fine and receive a great grade as long as you watch the lecture recordings! That is key to doing well in this class. The exams (content all from lecture recordings) are really the only grade in this class, so it is important you do well on those!
Finn is the best Introductory Psych teacher
Love this online class!! Professor Finn seems like such a cool dude, I almost wish I would have taken this class in person. Very minimal assignments, lectures are straight to the point, tests are easy. Professor has a lot of cool stories about his life and seems like a very nice and interesting person--he drives race cars as a hobby (so cool)
Professor Finn's lectures are interesting to watch and he makes the class very easy as long as you watch the lecture recordings. I really enjoyed his class and I highly recommend him!
love him! incredibly sweet man who always makes students smile!
Lectures are amazing, he knows how to make class fun. Super nice guy and really cares about his students, easily one of the best professors I've had.
Prof Finn makes tests like 90% of your grade, and all you have to do is take the time to watch the lectures and take notes. I am not a great test taker but I barely studied after watching the lectures and I got As on every test. He didn't assign any readings , only 1 short easy assignmnet
Professor Finn is a great teacher! I was unsure that I would not do well as it was an asynchronous class but his lectures and assignments were all so easy! He sends a recording of the lectures every week, and also gives out many extra credits. If you need to take a psych class, take it from Professor Finn. P.S. he is hilarious
His lectures are him reading off slides so just put the videos on 2x speed, listen to see if he says anything that isn't on the slides like real world examples. Otherwise, tests are open note so you can just download the slides as your notes and you'll do well. He is super nice and I wish I could have taken a class with him in person.
i loved him as a professor. he made the class easy by giving thorough lectures, providing examples, and always answering his emails. i'm about to attend graduate school and still read over my notes from his class to refresh. they have been useful with the current job i'm at also; i'm a behavioral specialist at a middle school.
Dr. Finn is a really funny guy and clearly lays out what will be on the tests. This class was completely online and he spaced out the lectures over the span of a couple weeks
Dr. Finn was a good professor. His lectures were interesting and easy to watch. He only grades by exams, assignments, and research credit, but he does give extra credit. The exams are hard if you don't know the material but are very doable. I would take any psych class with him because he isn't a boring lecturer.
I never listened to the lectures. You don't need them. As long as you look through the slides, all of the exam questions are on there. I took this class for an easy A and it definitely was, so no complaints.
Professor Finn is mean, for a lack of better words. He basically degraded me in a email, inferring that I was a bad student and stupid. He sent me three emails at 1 am at night attacking me, telling me horrible things. I would not take this class unless you want to get bullied.
I was struggling and Professor Finn was willing to meet with me weakly to make sure i understood the concepts. Was very kind, caring, and willing to help. Only got As on exams after meeting with him. class was also enjoyable and easy to understand, you can tell he just enjoys psychology.
This class was easy, but you are basically only graded on exams. I got a B on one exam out of 5 and my grade ended up as a B+. Only take if you are a good tester!
Professor Finn is a really funny and interesting person. All the lectures were online and you really only had to go in-person for the tests. 90% of your grade is based on 5 tests and the extra credit adds up to only 2.5%. The tests weren't hard, and all the material came straight from the slides. It still requires some studying though.
Professor Finn was always able to help outside of class when I emailed him. I did this class through a hybrid course where we met once a week and he posted all the lectures online. The tests were worth 90% of the grade but were pretty easy if you actually watched the lectures. Professor Finn is always energetic and an amazing professor!!
Professor Finn's class was VERY test heavy. I think the grading scale was 90% tests, 5% assignments, 5% experiment participation, and half a point of extra credit available with each unit. If you listen to all of his lectures, though, you should be able to do great on the tests!
