Forster is a pretty good teacher, but prepare to read a LOT. He doesn't ever lecture, they're more like class discussions about the reading you were supposed to do. He also gives 4 or so pop quizzes. But if you read, participate in class and do your homework assignments and papers, you'll be fine. He lays it out at the beginning of the year.
Awesome professor! I honestly thought I hated him at first, but as the course progressed, I found that he ended up being one of my favorite professors! He just wants his class to understand the material and will help you out and assign extra credit so that you will do well.
Favorite teacher I've had so far. He's so funny. His quizzes are super hard but they aren't worth too much of your grade. He's great and makes the class 10x more interesting. I highly recommend.
Absolutely amazing professor.
Forster is an amazing professor! I was a bit critical of his teaching style at first but now it has been 5 weeks and I thoroughly enjoy the class and look forward to it. We talk about real things in the media and watch lots of videos. There are pop quizzes but they are worth so little so don't stress. He really wants you to do well in class!!!
He gives a lot of reading homework because of the course. Take a lot of notes. Study all of your notes. The papers are easy and fun. He gives good feed back. The lectures are good but you NEED to participate. He usually always picks the same people to speak so just keep trying for attention. He is funny and makes the course VERY modern. It was ok.
A funny guy BUT would not recommend his class to anyone. He spends the 90 minutes attempting to stretch out what little content he came prepared with. The quizzes were difficult and not related to class content. Overall tolerable but not a desired atmosphere.
Peter is an amazing professor! He assigns 2 long papers, but all you really have to do is answer the question he asks (which are a lot & easy) and you will have your paper done. All he wants is for you to critically think. Everyone in class would get A+ on papers bc they answered every question. Besides this he really cares and knows his stuff!
Peter is one of the best instructors at DePaul! He has a great deal of passion for the material and you must be ready to critically think. I was not sure I would like him initially; however, after a couple of weeks that changed. You will need to read the homework chapters, to pass the quizzes. Pay attention and participate and you will be fine.
Lets you use your notes during the Midterm and Final so be sure to read and take quality notes. Be prepared to think critically and pay attention during class. If you do so it'll be an easy A. Definitely would take him again.
He is such a rude professor. You literally have to beg for help and attention. Be ready to read my friend. Please be as clear as possible in the essays. Pop quizzes on the readings. He does not only quiz you on the reading from the night before but he quizzed you on previous chapters. Participation is mandatory for a decent grade, I promise.
As stated on this forum, Peter is *by far* among the best of DePaul. He's funny, fair, and a surely unexpected character. He's been there; he's done that. He imparts his knowledge on his students. Know that he is incredibly smart and witty: he *will* be reading your eyes... so participate, work hard and you will absolutely NOT be disappointed.
My favorite professor thus far at DePaul. I highly suggest taking him because of his interesting and engaging lectures and the fact that he is British and hilarious. Although he isn't an easy grader, the concepts of this class are not hard, you just HAVE to read and you will be able to understand, and if you show this understanding you will get As.
Amazing professor. Picks on students to tease throughout the quarter, but mainly only the ones who speak up TOO much. MUST read for class for 5 quizzes. Several short essays, 2 long essays, OPEN NOTE MIDTERM AND FINAL. Gave so much extra credit that my grade was over 100%. Interesting and genuinely interested in topic. So experienced!
I could listen to him talk for days. Honestly, he's the most interesting person. If you are willing to listen, he will truly open up your eyes to a lot of interesting stuff. Definitely recommend him!
I have never had a more passionate professor. Forster was incredible and I wish I could take the class all over again. Pop quizzes are hard, but the papers are very easy with very clear criteria. Highly recommend Forster if you want a stellar understanding of Mass Communication.
Took this class a few years back and I still remember this professor. He's hilarious but you learn a lot about the subject. Be prepared to actually read and participate, but you will not regret it!
I absolutely adore Peter Forster. You HAVE to read to do well on the 5 pop quizzes and take good notes because the midterm and final are open note. Very strict about NO technology in the classroom. The papers are simple, very open-ended. I was initially intimidated by him but he's hilarious and very kind, he's one of my favorite professors.
His lectures are interesting and more of a group discussion rather than a lecture with notes. You will read a lot, but some of the topic are interesting and all of the papers relate to how you personally use mass media. If your going to take this class, take it with Peter! He's funny, an easy grader, and makes class fun.
Several in-class pop quizzes on the reading, not worth much. Two long papers and three shorter homework essays. Midterm test and a final test. Prof. Forster is smart, funny, and engaging. Just don't be an idiot, respect him and he'll respect you. Just apply the reading to real-life experience and study for the tests -- fun and easy class!
By far the best professor I've ever had at DePaul! He's really funny and will crack jokes about those who are slacking and those he really likes. You can use whatever notes you want for the mid-term and final. You'll easily pass if you come to class and read the book. Wish I could take him again!
5 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final, 2 medium papers, 3 small homework papers. You need the book and get ready to read each week. The professor is absolutely hilarious, so I actually looked forward to coming to class. You have to really work hard, so slacking isn't a great idea. He lets you use notes on midterm and final!
He is the best professor I have ever had, definitely my favorite. He genuinely cares about students and knows what he is talking about. He really wants everyone to thouroughly understand content. His lectures are entertaining because he is hilarious. A few quizzes, which are easy if you do the readings. You can also bring notes for midterm/final!
Amazing lectures! this class goes by extremely fast and is interesting. He makes you really think. There are 5 pop quizzes. Every class is an assigned reading to take notes. Notes can be used on the mid term and final! Also two papers that are not bad because you are writing about interesting topics. 3 little homework assignments.
Peter can be a little offensive. The instructions for assignments are not really clear. There are pop quizzes based on the readings and lectures. Attendance is mandatory. You have to work 3x as hard to sway him in your final paper. Overall I rate him average. Do not let the past reviews fool you. I took him for 3 classes.
Was not a huge fan of his teaching style. He tried to come across as a jerk so he students would respect him. Quizzes and tests were open note, but in order to do well on them you had to take very thorough notes which was very time consuming. Was an easy grader on papers though!
Worst professor I've had, he is very rude and not flexible at all. His pop quizzes questions were very tedious to the text so you have to read and take notes to pass them and the chapter are pretty long. I would NEVER take him again and don't suggest anyone to take him.
I loved showing up to this profs class every week. He is super intelligent and always encouraged participation/different points of view. There are a few papers and two long assignments but they were fun to write and he gave you a lot of freedom with tying in your own opinions. Be sure to get the textbook and don't use your phone in class!
Took this class as an elective. Peter's class was one of the best classes I've ever taken. He makes understanding the concept of Public Relations & Advertising easy when comparing it to current events and celebrities. His lectures are so interesting, it made me think about minoring in PRAD. Also if you do the reading, you'll do fine on the quizzes.
Prof Forster is not for everyone. I personally enjoyed having him a lot. He makes lectures interesting and makes you think. He'll pick you out of a crowd, but it's because he wants to hear your thoughts. There are 5 pop quizzes which are easy if you read the assigned chapters, 4 short answer HW, 2 papers, midterm/final. Class is easy if you try.
Peter is one of my FAVORITE professors at DePaul. His lectures are so thought-provoking that you will never want to skip class. Plus he's hilarious. I wish I could take him for all my comm classes. I got an A in the class easily. Just read every chapter and take great notes on each--he'll let you use notes on the quizzes/midterm/final.
This prof really gets into his lectures. He loves participation, but it is not required. Learned a lot in his class!
Best professor at DePaul University. He will have you thinking about topics for hours after class. He's lectures are amazing and he's brilliant. Topics are heavy but extremely relatable. Wouldn't recommend taking anyone else. Do beware of pop- quizzes and you have to do the reading! This professor gives you everything you are paying for! 10/10
By far the best professor I have had. He is everything you could ask for - personable, well-rounded, wise, intelligent, understanding, and genuinely interested in his students. He is very clear with his expectations - if you read the syllabus there will be zero surprises. He is also a good source for information and letters of recommendation!!!
I recommend taking Forster 100%. Great professor who really makes you think and connects lessons in class to the real world. Does give about 5 pop quizzes, so just make sure you read each chapter and TAKE NOTES. The notes you take can be used on quizzes and THE FINAL. Great class. Awesome professor. Take this class!
My favorite class and my favorite professor at DePaul. If you're a CMNS or MCS major needing a 300 level I definitely recommend this class. There's pop quizzes, short homework's, two papers, a midterm and final but they test your critical thinking more than facts from the textbook. The book is necessary but not expensive and helpful for the work!
Recommend for those who like philosophy or classes that make you think. Professor is cool/funny. The textbook is REQUIRED. Honestly, I spent most of the class confused and somehow walked away with B, as long as you can explain your thoughts, you're fine. Cumulative final, couple of 2 page papers. Professor uses lots of media (TV, movies) in class.
This professor was so hilarious I swear I was either laughing or questioning my existence 90% of the class, just participate and show him you care.
Do not recommend if you arent looking to be treated like a middle schooler. You have to call a break for everyone during the class if you want to go to the bathroom because getting up and going to the bathroom is distracting when really, calling a break for the whole class to go to the bathroom is more distracting
He's a good professor and he knows his stuff. He can be funny at times, but he can also be rude to some students. You have to read the book because he gives pop quizzes and they are detailed. Pay attention and do your work, you'll be fine. Come prepared for class.
Really enjoyed his class. I have never taken a class like this before, as we looked into ethics and morals and philosophy. We usually had a nightly reading, which sometimes in turn got pop quizzes. Just do the reading for easy points! Two extra credit opportunities. Participation matters! I am sad this class is over! Very interesting and cool prof.
Best teacher I've ever had. He's a sassy, funny, and caring British man. He's very passionate about what he teaches and I still remember everything he taught us months later. His class on media literacy caused me to look at news and media in an entirely new light, and - every time he sees me he greets me a hug. Highly recommend this teacher.
Peter Forster is hands down the best professor at DePaul. His lectures are SO interesting. I actually enjoy going to his class. Do not use your phone, he will call you out. You MUST be willing to put in the work. But once you do it is extremely rewarding. Homework assignments are easy and he is a fair grader. Can use notes on midterm, final, quiz.
By far, the best communications teacher I've met. His lectures really captivates you and makes you want to learn more. Pop quizzes but you get to use your notes. Hates any mobile device, will seriously kick you out if you look at a phone or laptop. But all around, amazing guy. 10/10 would recommend.
This class will make you think differently about the media around you. Super interesting. Lectures will make you think. Follow the syllabus explicitly with everything. Defines all assignments in it. DO NOT USE YOUR PHONE. Seriously turn it off. A fun and interesting guy. Taking another of his classes. I can so how you could love or hate him.
Hands down best professor Ive ever had. For once I can say I actually learned stuff that matters in the real world. Make sure you TURN OFF your cellphone- hes very strict about that. Hes super funny and smart.
I almost dropped the class in the beginning but by the end, I loved him! He is an easy grader as long as you put work into your papers, midterm, and final. You can use notes on all quizzes, midterm, and the final. I learned a lot from this class. He definitely knows what he is talking about. Have to show up to class. Would definitely take again.
I was honestly so intimidated by him in the beginning but by the end, he was a total sweetheart! Completely understanding about everything and really cares about his students, at least the ones that put in effort. Make sure to read his syllabus, put away all tech, pay attention in class and you'll get an A!
By far my favorite class I've taken at DePaul. Extremely interesting content matched with a great professor. Intimidating at first, but as the course goes on you continue to see how hilarious and passionate Professor is. Highly recommend you take this class. As long as you can explain your thoughts on the assignments you'll get an A.
I took him for Mass Com and Media Ethics and both times I absolutely loved him. He is my fav prof at DePaul and it would be a travesty if you do not take his class. His passion for the subject matter is evident every single class. He keeps the class interesting and really knows how to draw students in. Def worth it!!!!
probably the coolest and smartest person i've ever met
Prof. Forster is a really good professor. His no phone/laptop rule might freak you out, but it honestly made it easier to focus in class. His lectures are sometimes just us talking about our media life. Make sure to take notes when he is actually lecturing. Read!! He gives quizzes on what you might think are the smallest details from the chapters.
One of the most influential professors at DePaul. His class will make you think deeply and learn a lot! Make sure to write your papers from your own point of view. He's a wonderful teacher and he grades fairly easy. What we wants most from his students is personal views, not really what the textbook says.
Super funny, but thought provoking at the same time. Gives a fair amount of work and grades it very legitimate. Wild shoes man! FIVE CHILIS
AMAZING!! Many people will be scared by his rules and the way that he can be intimidating, but I promise you it is worth it! I have never loved taking a class as much as I did his. Make sure to participate and embrace the no phone policy, it really does make the difference. All he wants is for you to think critically about the world and yourself!
Forster is such a good professor. He has an interesting personality and teaching style, so there is an adjustment period. But once you're used to how he runs his class, you'll find him fascinating. There are only 5 assignments, a few reading quizzes, a midterm, and final. They're all easy to do, you just have to care about what you're writing about
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! He is thought provoking, inspirational, and he challenges you in a very positive, insightful way. His classes go by fast because the content that he shares is always entertaining and interesting. I left class with something profound every day. Attend class, use the book for quizzes and tests, and be engaged! You'll get an A.
Beginning of the class he was very strict but overtime it got better. Thought I was going to drop but thankful I did not. No phones at all but you get used to it. Attendance is mandatory. Papers are kind of long but he's a pretty easy grader. Make sure you do the extra credit papers he is very generous on those. Overall, better then expected class.
This was one of the BEST classes that I have ever taken! Peter is very knowledgeable, intriguing, motivating, and very funny. He made every class fly by. He just wants to hear your thoughts during discussion and in the papers. 2 big papers and 3 small ones. Midterm and final are simple. He's just the best!
Hes very rude to students and likes to shame people in class quite a bit
Peter is a great professor. You'll read a lot and write a lot of papers. He is very specific about what he's looking for so if you write a great paper but isn't what he's looking for, you're not getting that grade. He is very intimidating the first week but is a very kind person, he just wants you to take the class seriously. DON'T BE LATE.
Professor Forster's lectures are amazing. When I entered college I was afraid to have a class without powerpoint slides, but with his class I enjoyed that he just talked the whole time! He makes you think about things in new ways, which is part of the point of college. Such a fascinating class, was one of my favorites ever while at DePaul. Take it!
Honestly if you have the chance to take a class with him, DO IT. As a 5th year senior I took his media ethics class as an elective for my major and was not disappointed at all. Be prepared to talk about real life situations and connect it to the readings. Best class Ive ever taken... so good I signed up for a 2 credit course with him!
The most engaging professor at DePaul! Makes you work, but its worth it!
Fascinating subject matter, challenges your thinking, interesting assignments that force you to think critically about pretty dense subject matter by applying it to pop culture and real-life examples. Good feedback and fair grader. Take it in person; it's a TON of reading online, and this is a class that needs dialogue to be fully appreciated.
In class is absolutely required in my opinion. Bouncing ideas off of your classmates with Professor Forster guiding discussion is thought-provoking and intelligent. He is not an easy professor by any means. But if I said he isn't one of my favorite professors I've ever had I'd be lying. Respect him and his class, and he will absolutely respect you.
Peter seems to be very knowledgeable but does not lecture, only states his opinion and does not consider others in a discussion. His quizzes are so specific and, even with 5hrs of studying, you can't get an A on them. He is not accessible outside class or understanding at all, and can be rude.
He just rambles on right into a circle. The class is run on a paradigm related to Dungeons and Dragons and bad perfume commercials. He is not attune with the rest of the world. One of the mean nerds who finally found a space he could control; boring yet does not realize. Definitely read the textbook you just have to regurgitate it.
I really liked Professor Forster's class. He does a great job guiding class discussion and applying the textbook reading to the news and current events. There's quite a bit of reading and writing, but all the writing prompts were thought-provoking and encouraged critical thinking. I would take another class with this professor.
Honestly, I hated this class. You have to show up to get attendance, but other than that there's no reason to show up. All the papers you'll write in this class are based on the textbook and not too much what he says in class. You have to teach all the material to yourself basically.
This was one of my favorite classes I have taken at DePaul. Prof. Forster always wanted to hear your opinions and what was going on in your digital world. This class was so important, created amazing discussion, and I learned so much. He's so intellectual about the topics presented. There are few assignments and they are all interesting!!
The content of his course is very engaging and interesting, and Professor Forster does everything in his power to encourage and present thoughtful discussion. If you participate, put effort into your writings, and study the terms you will find success in this course. The material is awesome and I would highly recommended you take with class.
Direct quote from him: it's not my fault women are inferior to men. He's incredibly sexist and treats you like a child. He is out of touch with current events and refuses to learn. I'm surprised to see such high ratings for an instructor that is so insufferable, demeaning and disrespectful.
Taking this class felt like going back to freshman year highschool. Take your phone out for 3 seconds? He will make you leave class that you paid for. Show up more than 10 minutes late? Well you are already considered absent. He just seems out of touch, and frankly beyond insufferable. Take this course from another professor.
This was honestly one of the best classes that I have taken at DePaul. If you want an enriching discussion every class that will leave you wanting more, I highly recommend taking Media Ethics with him. He doesn't like people using technology, which is strange, but I enjoyed that policy because everyone was engaged in the discussion.
Really chill guy. Very few assignments for the class that are easy IF you read the material. Easy grader, cares more about your thoughts as long as you have a basis of reasoning behind it. Awesome class discussions as well. Would take him again 100%
One of my favorite professors at Depaul. If you engage with the work and just stay on top of readings, you will be just fine in his class. He always has fascinating and educated points of view, and he's very knowledgable. An overall amazing and wonderfully supportive teacher. Don't use your phone in class - it's not a big deal.
Peter is an absolute legend
Media ethics is epic.Took over December session, assignments very close to each other. If you follow his guidelines and the reading (just get the media ethics one, not Kant or mill bc they're mentioned in the other book), and post a good stance on something with responses, you will do well. I enjoyed this class a lot for it being over winter break.
Can understand the bad reviews.Honestly he was one of the most entertaining and engaging professors. Mandatory Attendance that also varies with participation, which SUCKS.Very unique professor, I enjoyed having him. The only flaw is him having a big stick up his a$$, read his syllabus and you'll understand. Hes a goofball, but definitely recommend.
Peter may seem intimidating at first, but he's a nice guy who wants to see his students succeed. He enjoys challenging students during class discussion, you just can't take it personally.
Professor Forster is a fantastic professor. I have taken three of his classes so far, and I found that a huge part of his teaching involves participation in class discussions. He will always prompt a great question to ask about the topic of the class and he makes you feel like your answers matter, and that no answer is the wrong answer.
He is a great professor and he is good at what he teaches, however, if you are looking for an easy class, this is not it. Demands you to think critically, which I honestly liked but this class isn't for everyone. At first, he comes off as really strict but he is a nice professor. Very long essay assignments.
Peter is an amazing teacher. He gives extra credit to people who earn it. Peter tends to take a while to grade assignments. Peter also expects very detailed answers to his questions.
Professor Forster was lovely, super lively, and overall kept the class both entertaining and fun. The textbook is a must for this class, and you will have quizzes! But overall he's a super easy grader, and if you read the book and do the homework you should do fine. Do not let the tests keep you away from this class, its easy if you read!
My favorite professor at DePaul! Peter is such an engaging lecturer and manages to make in class participation really fun. His assignments can be challenging, but he gives amazing feedback and is very generous with giving extra credit on well-written assignments. He's very approachable and eager to discuss anything and everything.
His asynchronous class was really well structured. The D2L page was very clear. The readings were really challenging but ultimately valuable. Often, he would post his own response to the media we were studying, incorporating quotes from our posts that helped the class feel more connected. He gives incredible feedback and extra credit opportunities.
Get ready to discuss in class. We watched a lot of Black Mirror episodes and we had to write about it. Also, there were 3 books required to read but I didn't, so you can still be fine if you at least search about the topic online. The midterm and final exam were fine if you listen to him. He is a great professor. The topics can be sensible.
If I could tell you a professor to take at DePaul it would be this guy, the first teacher I can say in every single year of schooling ive ever had. I actually wanted to get to his class and participate. Its always interesting and if you can take as many of his classes as you can, I would.
Please take his media ethics class if you have the chance! Gives extra credit on papers, very captivating class. His class is primarily like a socratic seminar but I always had a good time.
Surprised there's not more negative reviews, all of them are correct. Class is thought provoking and Peter is intelligent- but his opinions/attitudes are outdated and often sexist. He has a big ego, loves to argue and always believes he is correct. Strict no phones, requires you to completely stop class for 5 min if you need the bathroom.
It's extremely lecture and discussion heavy so you'll just be listening and commenting on what he says. You don't have to do any of the readings just show up and discuss. The papers are very tedious to do but he's an easy grader. Very entertaining class. I think the people calling him offensive oftentimes miss the point of what he's trying to say.
I love Professor Forster. This was one of the best classes I've taken at DePaul. His class requires showing up and listening during lectures (no phones or computers), but it is worthwhile, you will learn a ton. He also gives extra credit on papers and is a pretty easy grader. Probably my favorite professor.
This was for December Intersession, so I was nervous. I feel as though I knew very little about media ethics going in. But his class is paced and structured really well! I did genuinely learn a lot, and the workload wasn't overwhelming. His feedback and announcements are pretty funny sometimes but also quite knowledgeable and informative.
Great professor who gives amazing lectures keeping everyone engaged with the topics at hand. Makes you think about your ethics and question what is around you and given to you. Work load isn't too hard and the papers are interesting. Don't get hurt for having to think about your ethical positions. Great class would take another class with him again
He has good knowledge of the field, but he has an ego and puts students on the spot to get them to argue with him, but he will always inevitably win, because he has the stubborn mindset of "I'm right and you are wrong".
Genuinely looked forward to this class every day. The "lectures" were so engaging for it felt more like a conversation between the whole class compared to typical powerpoint lectures. Each student participated daily answering ethical questions or sharing something significant in their media feed, which led to so many interesting discussions.
A lot of the negative reviews say he's a bit controversial, he's really not. He definitely likes to argue, and he will argue with you no matter what you say in order to get you to think about what you're saying. If you're easily offended this class isn't for you, but he's a wonderful teacher. I loved Forster, favorite class by far.
Easy grader. he structures his class by attendance and then asks each person a question during roll call that relates to the daily lesson. I personally really liked this way of teaching and thought it was very interactive and entertaining. He does not allow any technology in the classroom and no leaving the classroom. Overall good class.
Media ethics was an interesting, insightful class and I'm glad I took it. Peter has a good sense of humor and very knowledgable. Class lectures were never boring, but toward the end of the quarter, were a bit monotonous (the key theme of the class was that social media is bad). 4 papers total and were the bulk of the workload of the class.
Amazing lectures based on discussion. Not too harsh of a grader. I feel like I actually learned a lot!
Ok professor, treats you like an elementary school child. Not allowed to go to the BATHROOM (unless everyone in the class agrees!!) or have phones or computers out. Very strict on attendance. Lectures consisted of off-topic discussions. Was OK, the workload and readings were overwhelming for my schedule so had to drop.
I LOVE Peter! He really makes you think, and he taught me how to perform in a college class. He is absolutely amazing. If you want to be challenged, take his class!
I quite enjoyed the class. I am a big fan of discussion/debate-based teaching. The material was interesting and we also touched on current topics. He plays devil's advocate so don't feel like you have to always agree with him. His views and demeanor as a whole were off-putting. He is incredibly strict and has no compassion for his students.
I am SHOCKED by the amount of good reviews on this man. While the class itself is interesting, he is so unsympathetic towards students and is overall just mean and sexist. There is a whole unit on how women sexualize themselves on what they wear and is just uncomfortable. He treats his students like children as well, then claims "we are adults."
I actually learned nothing and had to teach everything myself last minute. Lectures were based on him taking attendance and asking each student a question which would become an hour long debate. Felt like a debate class. Couldn't use the bathroom either... at least he's funny though
What a charmed life you lead if you think Forster is a bad professor. Probably the easiest ethics class to take here. Yes it's uncomfortable, welcome to ethics. Easy grading, papers I thought were half-baked got 90s and 100s. Just stay off your phone and take notes by hand.
Favorite teacher at Depaul
Professor Forster is unresponsive to emails, disrespectful of his students, and antagonistic to anyone who asks questions. I was excited to take his Queer Media class but ended up withdrawing because he made me feel so unwelcome. It's hard to build relationships in online classes, but he certainly managed to build an adverse relationship with me.
Professor Forster is an A M A Z I N G professor. He is so insightful and funny. anyone who says otherwise is overly sensitive and I'll STAND ON THAT. Professor Forster is a mirror and he'll treat you how you treat him. I can't recommend him more. 10/10
Professor Forster's classes are engaging and thought-provoking, with interactive lectures and insightful discussions. The workload is manageable, and while he can be a bit challenging, it's worth it to learn a lot. unstuck ai was super helpful for exam prep!
Took for Media Ethics, async over intersession. It was great! The readings are wordy, but if you skim textbook and read sparknotes for Kant/Mill, its more than you need. I watched any videos he attached and could do the assignments just off those. As long as you put some thought into it and submit on time, this course is a breeze! Def recommend.
Not much against the prof, it's the class overall that wasn't my fav. You have to read because he calls on everyone each class. Easy midterm, simple papers. Definitely some questionable things said but it's philosophy so… My only complaint is that he's always interrupting students and seems annoyed when they try finish articulating their thoughts.
Great if you like talking in class. He calls on every student every single day and makes you answer complicated questions. This being said, I learned so so much in this class and found it inspiring and thought-provoking. Great friendly guy. Just don't use your phone in class!
This class felt like getting yelled at by a British man for an hour and a half. That being said It was really easy as long as you sorta skimmed the reading and didn't take your phone out. He calls on you every class, but it honestly doesn't really matter what you say, he just wants to talk.
His Media Ethics class is life-changing. He can be very peculiar, but pay attention, he knows what he is saying.
I LOVED media ethics with Prof Peter! So far this has been my favorite class I've taken at DePaul, the class is super interesting and you learn so much. He knows how to keep you engaged and makes everyone talk at one point during class BUT his lectures are good! He may come off intimidating and his bathroom policy is annoying but he's a good prof.
He is one of the best professors I've had. His media ethics class was life-changing. I've taken away so many things I still apply to my daily life. Take him and you won't regret. He does short answer midterms and finals. But very easy if you pay attention to the lectures. He makes it seem like he's tough and but very caring and easy going.
If you have an opportunity to take a class with Forster, DO IT. Everything is pretty straightforward as far as papers and grading is concerned, and he makes classes interesting and fun to participate in. One of the best professors as DePaul hands down.
Took this course as part of December Session so it was asynchronous and only three weeks long. He explained the weekly expectations and readings extremely well and had a well organized syllabus. His D2L is also very clear to navigate. Be prepared for a lot of reading, some of which is pretty difficult. Overall very caring professor
