very awesome guy he is funny and really a cool guy. He is the kind of guy who if youre borderline on a grade to help you out take him he rules
Galderisi gives interesting lectures. Summer class features takehome midterms and all questions in advance for final. He visits from Utah State so only teaches in the summer. Too bad, UCSD needs more like him.
Galderisi rocks! He was extremely helpful & really laid back. He even made lectures very interesting. Reading is reasonable and interesting. Midterms are easy Take Home & Finals were so easy b/c he gave us the questions ahead and even let us select the questions we wanted to do. Highly recommended!
He makes the boring statistics class more interesting and is very helpful in and out of class. I was dreading this class but ended up loving it. Great teacher!
If you are Poli Sci major you know you need to take this class so take it with this guy. I have seriously dropped Poli 30 every quarter i take it cuz i hate it, but Galderisi is by far the best professor for the course. He makes a LOT of Utah jokes and pokes fun at his Italian heritage, but the class is fair, he is helpful and kinda easy!
basically, a sav 4 life
Has all the BEST qualites required of a teacher: enthusiastic, funny, understanding, caring, young at heart, mature, open-minded, engaging, knowledgeable. He danced a jig for us when a cell phone went off in class. He is one of the profs I respect the most at ucsd.
he was entertaining but when it came time to give out exams or homework assignments he became too detailed when explaining things. He made it a lot more complicated then it needed to be and filled up students inboxs with emails either going into further detail which just made everything so much more confusing ... it got to be pretty annoying
Very enthusiastic, and very responsive to emails. Can sometimes make things more confusing than they really are, but if you ask enough questions and your TA is somewhat decent, you'll have no problem. Overall, he makes a boring subject interesting enough for you to learn well.
He is a very helpful teacher and responds to emails very quickly. He is fair and has a sense of humor. His lectures go quickly but his notes or online and I would recommend taking his statistics class.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Its not a regular poli sci class because it actually involves some math, which is a nice change. The subject is usually boring, but he makes this quite an interesting subject. If you are going to take this class, I sugest you take it with him. He's hilarious too.
POLI 30 is NOT unpleasant only b/c of Galderisi. Stats sucks, but he makes it tolerable. He has a great format to his class. No midterm, no final, just some easy homework assignments and a few mini projects and that's it. Makes material as fun as possible with his great jokes, decent powerpoints, and great personality. Little reading. Get him!
Wasnt excited about this class- stats are not fun but this prof is so awesome! He really cares about his students- format's great with take home assnigments & 2 quizes. My TA was good too, Melanie.Got an A in the class. Definitely recommend him! I'm taking another class b/c hes fabulous! Powerpoints, good email response, sense of humor! Great Prof!
This guy is awesome! He keeps class fairly interesting with his wierd jokes. He is also very helpful to his students, and would send out like 10 e-mails a day to make sure everything was going smoothly. No mid-term or final, rather some small quizzes and a final project. This guy made stat fun and not lame. Definitely pick this guy!!
Galderisi is hilarious. He has a ton of energy and is sincerely interested in his students. He's such a friendly teacher, I adopted a nick-name for him and his paternal nature: Papa Galderisi
Relatively easy - a take-home midterm and the final questions are given in advance, but the grading was relatively harsh. 95% of the material for both tests was on the reading, so an "A" is attainable without class attendance. Class however lost its structure after the mid-term. Galderisi treats his students like people, I highly reccomend him
This is one of the best teachers I've ever had. The material is, of course, tedious and repetitive, but Galderisi makes it tolerable. He genuinely makes you want to go to class, and you can clearly see how much he loves teaching. Be careful of the TA though, I got a total jerk, and had to get Galderisi to re-grade all my work. Great guy.
Awesome guy. You learn more than with any other teacher on campus. UCSD is stupid not to hire him full time.
Galderisi is probably one of the best professors I've had. I didn't think it was possible to make stats interesting, but he does it, and I can't even explain how. It's just great to listen to the guy, I wish I could take more classes with him.
TAKE HIM! i couldnt undertand a THING he taught, but still ended up with a B+. He's super funny and really into teaching.
He's entertaining and knows his stuff. Class consists of 4 hw assignments, a quiz, and final assignment, none of which is too time consuming. Sometimes his lectures can get unclear/disorganized so you may have to review some concepts afterwards in the book. The class is straight-forward though; if you pay attention and do the work it's an ez A/B+.
Galderisi is a great guy with good intentions, but Poli 30 is not his specialty. He was extremely unclear during lecture and taking a math class under those circumstances suck. Although, the TAs were terrible, they did help clarify things that Galderisi had trouble getting across. & the class was unorganized!
This class was confusing, but Galderisi is a great guy. Attending lecture made it so that I never had to read, and my TA was able to clarify any questions. If you have to take Poli 30 take him.
awesome prof, an A- goes down to an 87%. he is the prof for poli 30.
Galderisi is the bomb. Although I'm only taking this class Pass/Fail but I still had to study for it. Attend lectures, his lectures are fun, clear, and audible. He got jokes going too, so you won't be falling asleep. His exams are fair; reflective of the materials. attend lectures, read books, go to section. Matt Childers is a chill TA. =]
His lectures were interesting only because he elaborated on what you already knew. Class was easy, section very boring and unnecessary but mandatory. Midterm and Final were the same (not cumulative) True/False questions.
EXTREMELY unclear! Very bad, confusing and only haddd to take it for major?would NOT recommend this professor to anyone.
The class is not hard and he makes it interesting. Galderisi is a good guy but not such a good prof. He spouts his political views to his students and good prof's dont do that. It's unfortunate that he can't control himself becuase he could be great. A nice guy, dont get me wrong but too much political opinion to be a good prof.
This class is super chill. Exams are straight forward and derived from readings/lectures. One essay..graded easily. Relatively easy A
Galderisi is a really funny professor, which is always a plus. On top of that, he actually cares about his students. He makes a study guide for the final, post his own personal notes and even highlight key points for you. This class was easy for me because I have a stats background. Altho his notes are sometimes all over the place but TAs clarify!
Very good teacher. He has lots of comparisons to the real world. His midterm and final outlines are very representative of his actual tests.
His lectures are really good. He's funny. Good sense of humor I actually enjoy going to lecture. Tests are based mostly on lecture so it's better to attend. If you keep up with the lectures and review, Poli Sci10 is not so hard. Mostly review from high school civic class. I would recommend this prof!!
good teacher, and funny guy
he was alright..pretty easy, but really not that funny. i didn't like how the TA kept stressing that we had to make sure we understood galderisi's opinions. the tests were mostly from the readings, but you could get by if you just go to all the lectures.
This class has the potential of a major GPA-boost to any non-POLI majors (actually to POLI majors as well since they need to take the class) and I would highly recommend it. Don't get into any real statistics until 8th week. I never went to class and barely read the book. All you need to do to do well is read the slides and put in a little work
Galderisi is awesome, definitely one of the best professors at ucsd. He goes off on tangents sometimes but they are usually very interesting.
EASY class if you take it P/NP but if you're taking it for a grade, you're going to have to attend lectures, take some good notes, listen and study and you'll do fine. the professor is really nice.. he even replaced our stats assignment with some other easy one. there are like 4 assignments (one is equivalent to a midterm) and a final.
"Papa Galderisi" as he is often called, is a great professor. Posts lectures beforehand on webct, answers emails promptly. Lectures are helpful as the material is very applicable to the congressional project worth 35%. One take home midterm and one in class final. Take this professor if you want to learn a great deal and enjoy the material.
Take this professor if you want to be bored. Or if you want to know his opinions about everything. I was really interested in this class. Then I took it.
Very good professor. He responded to my emails very on time. This class by and large is not hard as long as you do the readings, some of which can be quite boring. But, hey, he gave out final prompts for you to prepare. What more can you ask of this awesome professor. Very fun guy by the way. My TA this time was also very generous with grading.
100DA. Helpful and entertaining prof knows a lot about American politics. Class consisted of reading assorted journal articles and about 12 pages of writing ? two midterm synthesis essays and one semi-research essay about congressional elections in a particular district (plus in-class final). He digresses some but overall prof & class = good deal.
100DA- The class had a take home midterm, a project, and an in-class final which I thought was cool. Class is not hard if you go to class. Overall the professor's very helpful and he's really entertaining.
He's an amazing professor! Really funny, so it keeps you awake unlike most professors. Do the reading and attend section. I'm taking classes that don't fit in my schedule just because he's teaching, he's great!!!
He is such a wonderful and helpful professor. If you put you efforts, you will end up with a good grade, but be sure to ask him if you have any question because he will help you.
galderisi straight up my favorite teacher thus far at UCSD. hes funny in lecture and just in general a chill guy.
Have taken almost all of his classes, 100DA, 100C, 102C, 10, 30... This guy is the man. have gotten A's or A- by only reading enough to write the papers. Go to lecture, he likes hearing what he says back to him. Easy grader, easy to reach. Cool Dude.
Super funny guy. One of the best teachers at UCSD. PSPP was a kind of a difficult program to use. The TA's were very helpful. If you go to class you will do good on all the assignments. The readings aren't hard or long at all. Almost no one skipped lecture out of a large class because he's so funny and an entertaining professor.
Weekly assignments are difficult yet extremely useful. I would have never gotten an A+ if it weren't for them. I suggest using study groups to do the assignments.
Took this prof for Poli 30 and 102C. His lectures are often unclear and the powerpoints aren't organized, but he definitely makes the class enjoyable. If you put a little time and effort into his class, you will come out with a solid grade.
Very entertaining... But not very clear. His lectures can be at times incomprehensible and he just goes off like a train off its rails. He started quizzes this quarter which were not my favorite thing but was definitely a grade booster. It keeps you on your toes. I did learn a lot though and his stories are hilarious. I would recommend.
&POLI 30. Look, I really like the guy, he's funny, makes things interesting, but going to class is useless, he lectures in a very circular convoluted manner, & the whole complicated reader process that he claims is a low cost "benefit" to the students, are just hassling & annoying. Also not really clear what the readings are every week.
His explanations are way overcomplicated and confusing.I really appreciate that he's approachable and enthusiastic about the subject. It's easy to pay attention to him cause hes entertaining, but its no use unless you can understand what hes saying.
He is a great professor, so passionate about his subject. the class is not too bad if you pay attention and keep up with the work. But he is very helpful to all his students.
He is very helpful and funny. The assignments are not hard at all, they take about 30 mins to do on average. Your grade is depended upon your TA because theyre the one thats grading your assignments. Go to lectures and that is all you have to do, the readings are exactly the same as his lectures. Overall, great prof. Take him for POLI30!!
No reading is required to do well in this class, but I had to buy one of the books because he required that you use citations in your essays. Lectures are stimulating and fun. Essay topics were interesting and not too difficult.
Great guy makes things interesting, but I would have enjoyed his class more if his lecture manner was clearer and his readers weren't as expensive. Other than that... take him!
Pretty funny guy who makes stats pretty interesting. Class is a breeze if you have any prior stats knowledge. As long as you follow his examples or the examples in the book for the assignments, you'll get an A.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I REPEAT *DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!* this teacher is VERY unclear on his lectures, not specific AT ALL and he relies on you to read the text WAY too much. it's as though the text is your professor and not the teacher himself. midterms was a nightmare, even with attendance, tests you on materials he hasn't even taught
he thinks he can teach without using a microphone to 500 students. you can barely hear his voice. all homework assignments you can't ask for help from others or it's considered cheating and if you ask the TA or professor "they aren't allowed to help you" the textbook is like 90 bucks take it with someone else
Galderisi is a funny guy but it's been difficult to get into contact with him because his office hours keep changing. Also we're behind if everything so I'm pretty confused. I feel that the work load isn't too difficult to actually grasp but just do. Alot of reading and requiring to follow the syllabus. Book espically a reader was so not required.
He's entertaining, but his slides are confusing and his lectures are confusing as well. I never do the readings in the book because there is too much info on those. He's nice and enthusiastic, definitely not boring, but it's sometimes difficult to get the information across.
I never did the reading and went to about 3/4 of the lectures. Everything on the tests is in his slides, lectures, and study guides. I got an easy A in this class and honestly didn't put much effort into it except going back and looking at my notes before midterms and the final. Plus he is pretty cool.
Easy A- without a ton of effort. I only opened the book for the paper and the final. Galderisi is pretty entertaining, so lectures were easy to sit through. Vladimir was an extremely helpful TA and not a hard grader either. I would recommend this class for anyone whether a poli major or not.
Galderisi is awesome, his tests are pretty easy and he lectures pretty well. Often goes on tangents about random stuff, but you'll enjoy these.
Second time I've taken Galderisi and same results. Makes class interesting, material is presented in a concise manner. Communication with students is great and his class is pretty easy. Do your readings and go to lectures and you'll get an easy A.
He was definitely enthusiastic, and really funny. Im sure he made us laugh in every lecture because he relates politics to his life and current life, so its easy to understand. Tests are easy and the paper was not bad at all. Didnt read text book at all and my attendance wasnt great either. Highly recommend him.
I'm taking my 3rd and 4th Galderisi class. Its a pretty easy A without too much work, but he isn't very approachable. I've emailed him a few times and only received sarcastic replies. Kinda discouraging. Still an easy A though.
BRILLIANT, SINCERE,VERY KIND, HELPFUL and HUMBLE PROFESSOR. This is the 3rd class I am taking with him and he has been an outstanding professor in all of them. Very down to earth, funny and caring. Loves, respects and cares about his students. Always helpful and supportive. The class is not difficult if you put a little effort into it. RECOMMEND
Weekly assignments are not super hard but not very easy either.WAY TOOOOOOO MUCH informatioN. ITS RIDICULOUS. its just TOO MUCH info. even TAs feel sorry for us. The final was HARD. They say last year it was much easier but this year it was VERY VERY HARD. Screwed up our grades. Overall TRY SOMEONE ELSE. NOT RECOMMENDED
This class is dull and dry due to its nature. But the prof really tries his best to make it interesting, fun and enjoyable. There is too much infor, but its managable. Prof is very helpful and tries his best to help as much as he can. Just work hard and be patient and you will do fine. I would recommend this prof for this class.
To refute any previous comments professor galderisi is one of the top professors at ucsd. His lectures are entertaining and he is by far the most approachable and helpful professors I have had the pleasure of taking. His exams are fair and as long as you put in effort you will succeed in his courses. Very knowledgeable professor and decent person
Honestly the best professor I have ever taken (taken 8 of his classes while at UCSD) He is a great guy, easily approachable, knows how to make even the dry subjects tolerable and is never afraid to let his humor leak out into his classes, which in my opinion makes me stay engaged
Great professor. Clear, organized, and extremely helpful during office hours. Course material is tedious and a pain, but he tried really hard to make it interesting and understandable. I recommend taking this course with him.
Great Professor. makes class humorous and interesting. Slides can be confusing and vague at times, definitely need to pay attention to what he says as well. Pretty easy class overall, just need to do the readings and go to class
Great professor. Makes class interesting and always tries to keep it funny. He's been teaching for a long time so he has lots of experience and knowledge in politics. His slides can be confusing at times, can't just rely on those. Will definitely take him again
Prof Galderisi is a nice dude. However, he is extraordinarily unclear about exactly what he wants you to lear. Extremely unclear lectures and terrible resources to learn from. No notes on TED, nothing than the book and his digressive lectures and then expect to write a giant paper with those resources. Nice guy but never taking him again.
Dr. G is the best. As a prof, friend and a person. If u expect to be spoon fed on everything then u should not be in college. He is more than helpful if u go to his office hours. Too bad I have taken all his classes. If u have a brain & put just a little tiny bit of effort u will be FINE. He is very generous with grades. TAKE HIM, HIGHLY recommend
He is a great professor. He has a reputation of being easy and if your fine with blue book tests then you'll do fine...
Reading was very dry... Difficult to get excited... He is a great professor and has a reputation of being easy and if your fine with blue book tests then you'll do fine...
Took him for both 102G/100E and he is one of the best political science professors out there who actually cares for the students and not just his research. His districting project felt like real political science work. He is definitely approachable and I can tell he is respected by both students and TAs alike. Take him, great man, great professor
The class involved quite a bit of reading. The midterm consisted of 2 take home essays. There was also a research paper which was pretty intense but he ended up making the final optional which helped. Great professor overall
I also took 102G. Got As in both. Funny guy, interesting lecturer. The graders are fair. The in class essays require a fair amount of studying but aren't too bad. Take home essays in both classes, hit and miss grading in 100e.
Amazing professor! I wish I could have taken more of his classes. He genuinely cares about his students and makes an effort to get to know them. I felt very honored to have him shake my hand as I walked across the stage this past June. He is truly one of the best profs ever!!!
Pretty cool professor. I'm going to take more classes with him in the future. Exams are essays (take-home midterm and a in-class final). He even gives you study guides to prepare for the final. The only con is the schedule for his classes is odd (late afternoon to night).
Impossible to fail the class. It's a take home midterm and in class final (study guide provided). He's a good professor and clarifies anything you don't understand. Enjoys students coming to his office hours and talking not just about the class but his incite on politics.
I really enjoyed this professor. He's very funny and passionate about his subject. His lecturing style goes quick and it's to the point, so a three hour class was a bit much. However, his 50 minute classes are perfect. He's great at holding the attention of his students. A take home midterm paper that's about 5 pages and an in-class final.
This guys lectures are so poor and digressive it's actually pretty funny. I took two classes with him in the same quarter and heard the same 3 stories in both classes. Very unclear, lectures are absolutely, 100% useless. That said, he seems nice and I pulled an A+ thanks mostly to my incredibly helpful TA (David Lindsay I think).
Galderisi is just another haughty professor. I've tried emailing and asking questions, but only received snarky responses. My TA was just as bad, as he did horribly at explaining and provide little direction on how to answer a question. Not to mention the adobe reader is hard to read and not cost-effective. Very frustrating class.
Lectures are very interesting, you'll learn a lot not only about American politics but about America in general. Easy class (take-home midterm and study guide for the final). Will take Dr.G again for sure.
If you're thinking of taking Poli 30 with Galderisi, do it! I heard all of the other professors are boring and make the class hard. There are no midterms or finals. There are 6 take home quizzes, 3 stats and 3 computer assignments. All you have to do is read and go to lecture. If you understand what he's saying you will get higher than a B. READ!
Professor Galderisi is one of those teachers that has an "eccentric personality" and could be considered "a nice guy". Yet most of the lectures focus on abstract and unrelated concepts, while statistics go largely unexplained. The course has little to do with politics, and is more of a basic statistics/SPSS training class with little instruction.
Very interesting class about American political history. Take-home midterm and questions provided before the final exam so it's an easy class. You must use readings in your essays to get A.
Great teacher but this class is hard and time-consuming because it is primarily designed for students who want to apply to law school. Interesting material.
good teacher and generous grading, clear explanation, definitely worth taking
He is very unorganized and his lecture slides are incoherent. He will go off on major tangents that are not related to the readings and the readings themselves are extremely long and are not helpful unless you have a strong background in Political Science. I would not recommend this professor on any level.
This class was a TON of reading. There are a lot of court cases and a few articles, all of which you must know. The midterms are 3 essay questions that but could involve any case. Final is a take home paper. Lectures are very interesting and fast and essential for midterms and final. Show up, take notes. It's tough, but you learn a lot. Great prof!
His lectures are not helpful, and while he is very charismatic, most of the time its just him quickly clicking through a power point, not offering much relevant information. If you mathematically gifted go for it, but if you arent Godspeed
Class was at first alright. His quizzes are kind of unreasonable at times where you don't even know how to answer the question. Then computer assignments and stats assignments really catch up to you. Fairly easy class, you don't even have to read the book!
Poli 10 was basically a repeat of AP Government in high school. You won't even have to read the book to pass! Lectures aren't a necessity.
He speaks very fast, and for the entire class. He can get ahead of himself and off track easily sometimes. It's hard to know what to write down for notes; you should pay attention to what he says more than trying to write what's on his lecture slides. Exams are straight forward and the paper is not too bad either.
I loved this class there is 1 midterm,1 take home midterm which is a paper and a final. I didn't study for the first midterm so missed out on an A so study like two days before you will be fine. Got an A on my paper. Grading distribution is cool because he weighs whichever test you did better on more. Awesome Prof. Textbook just for studying helps
Dr. G is a witty intellectual who truly cares about your success. His teaching style is strictly East Coast jabber - so sit back, pay attention, and listen. Don't take notes but ASK QUESTIONS aloud if you don't catch something. Then, GO TO OFFICE HOURS. That's where the real clarity is. He's extremely helpful and willing. Do this and win.
I LOVE Dr. G. I took his Poli30 and Poli 10 classes and now poli 102C. He is amazing at explaining, funny, patient, knowledgeable and very very kind. I got pneumonia and he delayed my midterm and paper turn in day without even asking for a note. Definitely go to class because it's fun and informative. LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM!
The professor understands that most people taking this class are not science major, so his lectures many seem math elementary to begin with, but that's because he wants the lecture to cover everyone. We did not have any pop quizzes in class and the ones in lecture are redoable and easy. No final, just a project. GREAT PROFESSOR!
Professor Galderisi is a hilarious professor and really cares about his students. His lectures are all-inclusive and provides a strong foundational basis for understanding the course as a whole. Strongly recommended!
Galderisi is a nice guy, but he digresses way too much during lecture. I never knew what he was talking about -- he wanted to tell us a lot about his personal life for no reason. His lectures are not easy to follow, he doesn't podcast, and his slides are terrible. I was confused 80% of the time (and still am).
He goes on and on about stories that have some relevance to the topic at hand but sometimes it is difficult to keep up. Lectures are not very helpful. If you get a good TA that can explain things well for you, you'll be ok. However, I did not get one and was unable to get help. If you haven't taken stats you might struggle in this class.
I took him spring 2017, and while I do agree that he rambles a lot (really funny), he is also VERY easy to approach and accessible outside of class if lecture wasnt clear. Most of the time, our lecture class was empty anyway soooo.. The assignments were hard but help was easily accessible and there was no midterm or final so it wasnt that bad.
It's easy for this class to trip up Poli Sci majors since its almost like coding. The key is to seek help if you need it. This is probably the one class in college where I reached out for help, and it paid off. Professor prepares you well for assignments, it just needs a little extra help since I was not experienced with stats/coding. Useful class.
he's great!!! 10/10 recommend- best poli prof at ucsd
Prof. Galderisi is a very entertaining lecturer who often jokes in class and is very clearly knowledgable on the subject. This class involves LOTS of court cases that you have to read and has 2 in class midterms and a take home paper final. Midterms weren't too hard as long as you had a basic knowledge of the court cases/readings.
If you can avoid this course; avoid it at all cost. Requires a lot of math, knowledge in stats and use of SPSS. The professor is nice, likes to jokes and stuff but the TAs teaches way better than he does. No mid term/final its 4 quizzes and 4 homework assignment and the assignments arent easy at all. You got to figure it out yourself.
Four Quiz (30%), Four Homework (60%) and Discussion session (10%). Attendance ain't mandatory and I wouldn't attend either. He does make lots of joke but I find his explanations hard to absorb and to be used in both quizes and homework. Depending on which TA you get, TA's HELPED me more than going to lecture.
This class is essentially homework and quizzes, and you need to do well in both to pass. Homework may seem daunting at first, but as long as you ask for help and guidance you should do fine. The quizzes were the primary reason I got an A- and not an A, though they are open book / notes. Galderisi is a good prof, though he does ramble.
He is the best :)
Prof Galderisi really cares for his students. Lectures are non mandatory but he makes going very enjoyable and actually interesting. You can also learn a lot just from sitting in and listening which makes the papers much easier. Class is graded on one midterm paper and a two-part final, half of which is take home. Overall, great guy and recommend!
Great prof. Good lectures
If you're a stats major you'll be fine. If you're not a stats major you'll find the lectures are really vague. You won't have a clue what your grade is till after the course is over for better or worse (summer course). Assignments are generally easy. Prof is a charismatic guy and makes lectures a breeze. Labs are mandatory, lectures not.
I took this class during summer session because I thought the prof would make it easier, and I was right. You only get 5 weeks to learn this stuff, so this class is basically a "how to take this class" instruction manual. You have weekly assignments that aren't graded that you put together at the end of the 5 weeks to form your final project.
His lectures are extremely vague and a bit unorganized. I usually just refer to my TA, the textbook, and online sources for guidance. While he is a nice person, it doesn't make up for the fact that much of his lectures are not very helpful in explaining the concepts in a concise manner.
Dr G is honestly one of the most caring professors I had at UCSD. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. But I do agree with some people that most of the time, you will learn more during discussion from your TA. Although he is very helpful during office hours to clarify anything, and I think the assignments are straightforward as well
Straight forward lectures that can be understood without going to class, but he clearly cares about his students and the material he is teaching.
Boring lecturer and bad at explaining statistical concepts. Also, his TA graded my final project incorrectly and when I emailed Prof. Galderisi consistently to update my grade for 2 months, he never did, and now I am stuck with this grade forever.
Always a pleasure to attend his lectures, he seems to be good with faces and chats you up before class, very personable and approachable. Always looking to help us gain internship experience by inviting campaigns to the beginning of lectures. Not reading heavy, papers are all definitely based on lecture and easily found in lecture slides. Awesome!
His lectures are super boring but you don't have to go to those and there's honestly nothing helpful there anyways. He just goes on long tangents talking about his time teaching in Utah or the car he dries. The TAs teach the whole class and section classes are mandatory. There's a quiz every week about and 4 big assignments in the latter weeks.
I stopped going to lectures cuz i knew discussions were more helpful. Textbook can be found online for free n u dont really need it so dont buy. Quizzes instead of midterm+final, n theyre easy if you go to discussion. Assignments r ab SPSS but those are doable ONLY if u watch TA guide videos. Overall, it was easy but only cuz i had a cool TA.
Please dont attend lectures; Professor Galderisi will actually confuse you more and unnecessarily stress you out. All you really need to do is attend discussion section and make sure you are putting in the work needed on your end. This class was an easy A for me.
Dr. G is a pretty good professor. I felt like his lectures didn't teach me anything at all and I learned everything from the TA. He is really lenient with grading and allowed lots of extra credit. I would say that if you have a good TA then you will do fine in his classes.
Avoid Galderesi at all costs. Readings range from 20-100 pages per week and are pertinent to passing the midterm and final. Midterm was timed and you had to write 2 essays (3 pages each). He made this class theory based and expected us to keep up with the readings as he mentions and guides his disorganized lectures on them. Goes on tangents. 0/10
Dr. Galderisi is my favorite professor, and I took as many of his classes as I could. Breaks down complex theory in an approachable way. Treats Poli Sci as actual science. His classes all take effort, but I learned more from them than any other Poli Sci class I took.
His lectures are not good, but he writes the the textbook, so I found it best to just read the book and skip the lectures because the chapters align perfectly. Honestly, the TAs teach everything and if you get Anthony Anderson as your TA or as one of the TAs in the class you're set because he makes great videos that explain every concept/assignment
Professor Galderisi clearly knows his material and is a competent lecturer. His class consisted of only a midterm and final, but they were easily answerable if you went to class and read the court cases he assigned. If you aren't interested in election law or court cases then I wouldn't recommend taking this class.
Dr. G is super cool and clearly knowledgable on the material. Overall this was an easy class. It seems like he has the same few TA's every quarter, and they are amazing. As long as you attend discussions and read the textbook you're good. Weekly quizzes that take no more than 10 minutes, and 4 assignments, one of which counts as your final.
so the pr may be nice but everything entirely depends on your TA, the homework are really heavy and require a great amount of time spent on them. i would hear my peer talk about them getting 97 on a homework while highest in my class would be an 84 for the same amount of work done, so just pray that you get a good and easy grader TA.
