This guy was great, his lectures were interesting, he made things clear, his tests weren't "tricky", and he's very friendly and has a great personality. I actually learned things in his class, and I made the highest grade I've ever made in a his
Great teacher. I recommended him to my brother and would recommend him to anyone. He makes history fun and applies it to the world now.

Peter Hacker is a no nonsense practical teacher, gives great lectures, and you should know your lectures to do your essay section of the test, they count for 1/2 of your grade.

A wonderful professor, and the first time I've actually learned history. He teaches with a personality, and it's always interesting. His projects are fun, and his tests aren't hard as long as you can do the essay.
A really great teacher, and his lectures are clear and easy to follow, which make studying for tests very helpful. Even though he is uncomplicated in that manner, don't be late, or miss excessive classes, nor bring food in, and those are his pet peeves.
Hacker is funny, and makes learning history easy. You must study in advance in this class to pass his tests.
Teaches history with a very left wing bias. He favors some students over others, and his 15 page term paper is a waste of time.
Good teacher, makes histroy more interesting. Makes everything understandable and the class pays attention!
His class is like story time in elementry school. He talks down to his students, and is never willing to admit he might be wrong.
Amazing class. The guy talks non stop. I never once had to take notes and I was making 95, 98, 100 on his tests.
Makes lectures interesting, and easy to follow. Tests are not hard, just study notes and key terms.
A pretty good teacher, he's probably one of the easier History teachers at TCC. All of his classes are lecture so be prepared to write a few pages of notes every day, he never goes out of the book. His tests are average in how hard they are, just make sure you study for them.
makes history interesing, never has a boring class. pretty easy exams as long as you study the reviews.
I was never bored in class, but stay awake and take lots of notes. Don't study just what's in the book but the notes will have more on what could be on the test. You'll learn sooo much but make sure that you study way ahead of time before the test date because it hurt me when i didn't. He can be tough teacher, but it just depends the way you study
Awesome teacher. He can't stand students that are absent or late a lot or talk when he's talking but that's understandable in a lecture course. Tests aren't too hard as long as you took a few notes and paid attention. He knows history like I know Bud Ic
He is one of the best teachers i've ever had. My two friends and I even took him again the next semester. I highly recommend to take Him. I changed my major to history because of him.
He's great. He makes History more interesting. You have to study hard for his class though. His lectures are really fun. Take his class if you want to learn and have fun at the same time. There's also hw and projects for his class. But don't let that turn you off. It's really easy. He'll explain it all to you.
He is a wonderful teacher!!!!!!
He is a great teacher, and its a really fun and interesting course. He really knows how to keep our attention and lecture to where it sticks with you forever. i never once opened the book and in 1301 and 1302 i got A's. he has to be my favorite teacher.
HACKER ROCkS> If you dont mind working, youll get the A. He lets you know exactly where youre at in the class the whole semester. Gives great easy assignments for alot of points and extra credit too! come to class, listen, study a little bit, get an A.
He accomplishes the big challange: Making history fun, his lectures are detailed which really helps on the exams. The projects are fun and can help alot if your exams are bad. This teacher is very helpfull, and I would recomend him over any other history professor at TCC NE.
just show up to clas and take nots and you will get a c. and study it is extrmely easy
Very helpful and fun class!! Makes the lectures interesting!! His test are hard but other than that it's a fun class..he even gives lots of extra points!!
THe biggest thing is that you wrote your own grade. He shows you exactly what it takes to make an A and gives you plenty of opportunities to achieve that A. If learning is more iportant than getting an A ths guy also rules. He is like a history buff from another dimension, he knows more than any one person should be allowed to know about history A+
This is by far the most interesting teacher I have ever had! If you go to every class and take notes, there is no reason you shouldn't make an A! He is awesome
Don't want to get bored studying history? take his class. He makes it really interesting. Good Lecture. His exams are sort of hard but if you study and took notes, you'll make an A or a B. His projects are not that hard. He's really helpful 2 students.
I hated his attendance policy at first( won't let you in class, til break, if you are late). However, I found him to be the most interesting teacher. I looked forward to his class. He's open to comments and lectures like a PRO. Will repeat the topic and waits for you to write. Class is full and Nobody misses many nights. Best ever professor!!
professor hacker gave clarity to every subject and kept the material funny and interesting. excellent delivery and great test structure. pay attention and it is a garunteed A.
If one thing irritates Hacker, it's a student who gets slightly ahead of him in lectures. And It's usually a student who is a history buff and knows as much as he. It was funny to see this one student keep doing that. Anyway, he's a pretty good teacher. I would take him again.
This guy is awsome he will actually close and lock his classroom door 10 minutes after start time. Some students are like kids and can't get to class and he puts an end to that. He also offers some nice points as attendance incentives. He is a history ace and really should be at a higher facility but actually likes to teach us. A++++++++++++++
I strongly recommend taking any of Prof. Hacker's classes. His lectures are very well structured, and extremely interesting. He tells great stories, and makes history fun and easy to understand. His tests come practically straight from his lecture notes, so attendence is mandatory (he gives extra credit for coming though). He's a great teacher.
He's so funny! He's not burned out yet, so he still likes to do his job. He's extremely helpful. He welcomes questions/debates in class. He has you read a lot, though. Also, the notes you take from lectures make from 50% to 75% of your test grade, so ATTEND CLASSES and if you don't take good notes, find a classmate who does! I'd take him again!
He is a great teacher! Knows his stuff. Makes class interesting. You have to work for your grade, it is not an easy give-me class. Exams, quizzes, and two writing assignments to help you get into history.
oh.my.god. i looooooved professor hacker. i usually loathe history but seriously, this guy is genius. i dont know how he does it but he explains things soo easily and i actually understood them AND remembered them!! tests are way easy if you even attempt to study, gay ass tardy policy though, he locks the doors, i hated that.
Hacker is mercurial but I thought he was kind of hot. He knows his stuff but he doesn't want to be upstaged. We had a history buff in class that always got ahead of Hacker. Needless to say, Hacker was not very pleased.
I actually looked forward to this class, and found it much more interesting than I had planned for, thanks to Prof. Hacker. I didn't buy the book, and that didn't keep me from getting an A.He gives extra credit throughout the semester.Online quizes due every week, pretty easy stuff. If you have to take history, take Hacker.
Great teacher. Do online quizzes, they will help your grade. Come to class, locks you out if you dont! Awesome lectures though he really makes History interesting and throws in little side stories to get your hooked. Willing to help students as well. Some papers to write but nothing harsh, just stay on topic and you will do fine. Highly recommended
Prof. Hacker is great. Do all of your Internet homework. Offers extra credit. Makes his class interesting.
Prof. Hacker is GREAT! I really enjoyed him!! :) He is a HUGE history buff and he is extremely knowledgeable! Understanding and helpful too!
I Love this class! Mr. Hacker is hilarious. He makes his class very interesting. He uses an outline to follow and then goes more in to dept. I like the outline method because it gives me something to go by. Test are easy just study vocab terms.
Mr. Hacker is awesome! He is very witty and his class is so interesting. He's very strict as far deadlines and getting to class on time, so make sure you go and don't turn in projects late. He's willing to help his students and the best professor I have had at TCC. He knows his history, and he conveys his lectures in a funny way. Loved his class!!
Prof Hacker is fantastic! He is hilarious and keeps you wanting to come to class. DO NOT be late to class (but welcome to college people!)If you are wanting a super easy class don't take Hacker; if you're in it for the overall experience, he's your man!
Prof Hacker is fun and effective. He'll make ya laugh, he'll make ya think.
He's very funny and will keep you interested in something that's very uninteresting =/ Makes history come to life and uses modern examples to help explain. VERY NICE AND HELPFUL!! =)
Must read book and take lots of notes!!!! Dont be late, he locks his door and takes attendance. Use all the extra credit you can get too!!!!
Great teacher, he knows how to keep your interest. Make sure you are there everyday or you will miss info for the test. Tests are relatively easy as long as you follow the study terms you will be fine.
Mr. Hacker was probably the best teacher I have ever had. He makes every interesting and presents the material with absolute clarity. You do need to be at class every day, but that isn't hard (seeing how it's a blast to be there). Take notes and you'll do fine!
Mr. Hacker is recommended for everyone taking history!! He makes his class interesting, making you WANT to pay attention to everything he says. He has a good sense of humor and sticks to the topic, talking about what you need to know. You have to come to class to take notes- alot-but very useful. He really is the best teacher!
Must go to class and takes lots of notes. Lectures can be interesting but if you miss one day your lost and behind. Dont be late, he locks the door and he will take your cell phone if it goes off. There is a quiz every week online and test are hard. Must study!!!!
AWESOME professor! He makes everything very interesting. the only homework is at the end of the semester... it's a 5 page paper, not too bad though. GO to the movie extra credit!!! he gives 10 points a peice. also, you must go to class. not a easy class, but study good and you should make an A.
Mr. Hacker was one of the best professors I have ever had! His lectures are actually very interesting. Even some people in my class who did not care so much for history admitted that the lectures were great. He isn't easy, though. Go to class and study. Tests can be difficult, but I definitely recommend that you take his classes!
Lectures are fantastic and some significant extra credit is offered. You better be a very skilled note taker as your notes are just about all you have to use to study. Office visits were met with an unwelcome attitude. Very meticulous guy, but compliments effort.
Great Teacher! You take notes everyday that's pretty much all you do so be prepared. He makes the class actually interesting. I recommend Hacker!!
Wonderful professor!! I took his for both 1301 & 1302. He makes class very interesting and he certainly knows his stuff. Tests can be hard for those who don't pay attention. All of the essay questions come right off of the overheads that he shows during lecture, though.
Hacker was awesome... I took him my first semester in college and he rules. Don't be late, show up, and do the home tests and you will do great. His lectures are the best out of what I have experienced in my short college career. I hear he is history department head now. Congrats Hacker.
Mr Hacker is a wonderful tearcher, but DO NOT take him online...his study guide does not match his tests and the exams are generated elsewhere (not his own) and I do not believe he pays attention to the questions, because no matter what you study from the study guide they do not appear on the test. DO NOT TAKE HIM ONLINE...DO NOT(REPEAT)
Hacker was really fun. He was always full of energy and smiles. All we did was take notes in class, do online quizzes that were 5 questions long, do a few in class exams (which were easy) I never even opened the book! He gave us all the information we needed to know to pass the test. He even let us out early a lot. I highly recommend him!
I just took his online class for the minimester and we had exams every week jam packed with atleast 80 terms you really need to learn. it was hard for me to earn a B. if you want alot of work, he's your guy
I took him online and his exams were very hard. He gives you about 80 terms a week and they have nothing to do with the test. Do not take if you do not want a lot of work.
He was wonderful! He gave very positive feedback. There wasn't to much work at all! Took him online, because I work during the day. However I wish I could have been in the class, I bet he's a great guy! Highly suggest taking his class!
He is a really good teacher. I am the worst at History. he really made it possible for me to get that passing grade I needed.
I took his DL class and it was no cakewalk. We had 3 papers to write 3-5 pages each, and his tests and quizzes came from very specific places in the chapter from the book. Definitely need to study and read the book to pass this class. Luckily, this class did not meet on campus, and he was very willing to help by email and office visits. recommended
Great teacher and amazing storyteller. Tests are on his lectures. Really laid back but strict about classroom behavior so if you're a fidgeter or social butterfly you may get chewed out. Good sense of humor and if you work you get an A.
I really enjoyed this class, professor Hacker made it very interesting and fun. He really knows his stuff. I would take him for another class if he had one.
Great teacher, made class fun and kept it interesting with stories. He had fun projects and tests were based of lecture. Attend the class and put a little effort in and you can easily pass with an A.
Take this man's class. He is genuinely interesting and cute, to boot.
This professor actually made History Interesting!! I have failed this class before, but with Professor Hacker, I actually found myself enjoying the class, and ended up doing really well. I would Highly suggest him!
If your looking for an easy grade this is not the class for you. He is a great teacher that knows a lot and will answer any questions even if off topic. He outlines his grades so you know exactly what you need to do. Everything is from notes which is given orally during class.
I'm a person who hates history, but this teacher made TX History SO interesting and enjoyable. He knows his stuff like the back of his hand. If you're looking for a blow off class, this is not for you. You have tests that include short essays, online quizzes, and two outside of class essays. I STRONGLY recommend him though, awesome teacher.
My first online class ever...and thank goodness I knew what was expected. I came to realize I do not like taking classes online, but it had nothing to do with Mr. Hacker. He was understanding and pretty much by the book and study sheets.
Had him for A.Hist. his tests come from notes and somewhere else, I don't know. He didn't use the book, and despite me reading it back to back plus the notes, I barely passed his tests which were frustrating long and tricky. Class is godawfully boring, and he will not be bothered much after class.
I LOVE HACKER! Everyday lecture is like story time, although heavy notes but all on the exam. Very helpful study guide, no tricky questions on exams. Will talk to you after class forever if you let him, he will call you out if you're talking, so just be respectful! I am taking him again, I hated history but now I love it thanks to him! Take him!!
Hacker is the bomb! His lectures are fun to listen to, but don't forget to take notes! His tests are mainly on his lectures and he will give you all the information you'll need for the tests. Very clear and in depth on his presentations and he just loves history and teaching. It shows in his finesse. If you can't stand lectures; he makes them fun!
Hacker is a great professor, Very helpful and always willing to talk. Seems to really love his job, can't go wrong with having him for your History classes
This guy is that good, I can't think of any downsides with him! Whatever you need hes got it!
He's the best teacher I have ever had. He is so interesting and enthusiastic. You can tell he absolutely loves his job and history. The best class I have ever had. He's the head of the board and doesn't have many classes, so if you see his class open, grab it ASAP and savor every minute.
Excellent professor. Very clear to understand and his lectures are actually interesting and actually funny. He engages the students (walks class from end to end; makes eye contact with each student). His class is relatively easy, but reasonably difficult (taking notes and studying is helpful). Would *gladly* take another one of his classes.
Best history teacher at TCC. Makes class interesting. I enjoy history, and learned ALOT in this class. Not the easiest class, but he will help you. Very understanding, very intelligent. If you enjoy history, this class is for you. (I took him for TX history)
Best I can figure is if you go to class, it's easy, but online is hard as hell. I'm busting my butt and still barely passing this class. Hard, Hard, Hard.
Always gives very interesting lectures. He obviously knows his stuff and is passionate about history. Definitely have to pay attention and take notes, otherwise tests will be difficult. Pretty nice guy, though he can be a little strict at times. Taken his U.S. and Texas History classes and I'd take him again if I had to take another history course.
I enjoyed Mr. Hacker very much. Do suggest that his students be prepared to take good notes in class and read the book. He provides vocabulary list for each unit of study. I suggest that student take time and prepare a detailed definition list for the terms.
Liked him so much I took him twice! (HIST 1302). His lectures are like story time! As long as you attend class, and read the book, you will do well on the tests. Do use his study aids. For each test there is a list of key things to study. Writing assignments are fun and creative. I looked forward to this class every day.
Great professor! Very helpful and answers questions pretty promptly. I would take him again. He provides a great study guide for each test. Use it and you will learn/be ready for the test.
VERY VERY good teacher. He makes his lectures fun and full of energy. He is very funny , will keep you entertained. Very helpful. NEED TO TAKE !
Very good teacher. Lecture sounds like a story and he tells it as though we are all there
Mr. Hacker is very hard if you are not already good at the subject. Yes, his lectures are like story time. He tells them as if you are there. His test are from his notes and from the book. His test are multiple choice and 3-5 open ended questions.
Took class online, there were 4 exams and one research assignment and 10 reading quiz. though over the whole 16 weeks there were only 5 due dates really. no discussion board! Very easy class to take but not be overwhelmed with a work load. Perfect online class! would definitely recommend him!
Hacker is a great professor who makes history interesting. Pay attention to your syllabus because his expectations are pretty clearly outlined. Tests are multiple choice and essay, straight from the notes/text, and easy as long as you do the work. Reading quizzes are simple. He offers extra credit directly to your overall points. Great!!
If you enjoy History the class is pretty much like story time. He gives out study guides before each exam and you can probably get an A by just really knowing that and his lectures.
Prof. Hacker is amazing!!! I wish he was available for 1302. Very humorous and makes history fun. Just do as asked and anyone can pass. 3 Exams and 10 quizzes and 1 major project. Pretty easy if you stay on top of it. I will truly miss him in the spring.
There are like 150 terms to memorize for each test with a few essay questions. You have one major project. Don't procrastinate. Take notes.
You have to attend every class and take good notes. Theres one major project. The tests are usually based off the notes but you're about to memorize 150+ words for it.. His tests are also very confusing but his lectures are funny.
Professor Hacker is amazing!! He is hysterical with lectures. Just take notes, study and you will pass. I have enjoyed him over the last several weeks. I would HIGHLY recommend him!!!
His lectures were great and felt more like story time. That being said, you better take good notes if you want to do well on his tests. He also makes you do a paper that is worth a fifth of your grade which I suggest you start early.
Don't give extra credit. Don't take if you want an easy A. Really interesting class but not easy. Got a C and I study a lot.
I have had Hacker for both Texas History and American History 1302. He lectures almost the entire class period and never lets class out early. But if you pay attention to what is on his slides and what he says about those slides that makes up 95% of his tests, you can easily ace the class without reading the book at all. Don't break his rules.
I loved professor hacker! He gives 3 exams, 10 online reading quizzes, and an EXTREMELY important paper at the end of the semester. Make sure to start early on the paper. His lectures are funny and feel like story time! You must attend class or you'll fall behind. I didn't open my book once.
Great teacher ,not hard and very good explainer
One of the best professors i have ever taken a class from. I am finishing my degree now, and I have had many more professors. Pete Hacker Is one of the few who still enjoys his work as a teacher and his subject matter.
He's awesome. Definitely one of my top favorites.
Hacker seems like a genuine guy. His lectures are hilarious and he explains information in a modern and easy to understand way. Tests are definitely doable if you take some time to study. He also offers extra credit as long as you don't wait until a week before the final. He doesn't make you memorize dates and makes old history relevant to today.
There are not enough words to describe how great of a teacher he is. It is so easy to learn from him with his entertaining lectures, and willingness to make sure you understand the material. He is a tough grader with tests, but as long as you attend class, study, and do the quizzes anyone can make an easy B. I wish i could take his class again.
Amazing professor ! Keeps you entertained during his lectures who also doesn't have a monotone voice. Book isn't really needed just take good notes , do his study term reviews and you should pass with a B or higher. He's kinda cute in the needy dorky type way
He does have high expectations for the students, but if you actually take notes and show up on time, then you will do well. He does give extra credit early, do it. He also assigns a paper due by the midterm, start early! He tells amazing stories that make him memorable. :)
Professor is probably my favorite teacher at TCC. He has a very sarcastic and dark sense of humor, which makes the subject of history and his lectures incredibly fun and interesting. He stays unbiased and impartial when speaking of political parties throughout history. He loves teaching. You'll get an A if you use the study guides for the tests.
I was never interested in history until this class. The professor tells great stories and just makes the class fun, you actually want to go and listen to the lectures. The tests have short answers but he gives you everything you need to prepare, and there's one research paper but you get plenty of time and it's pretty simple. Would recommend.
He is seriously awesome! just don't miss an online quiz, and never miss a lecture and you will easily get an A. He is also funny, which makes lectures way better
Hacker is simply extremely effective at what he does. His class is an easy A as long as you study and remember to take the quizzes. His tests were never hard and he is very direct about what he expects. His lectures are always intriguing and interesting. I always looked forward to his class. Never a dull moment.
Professor Hacker was one of my favorite professors this semester. His class is very heavy on lectures so make sure that you attend otherwise you'll miss notes and what will be on the test. He gives a few extra credit pop quizzes but all other grades are straight forward. Easy to get an A if you study and follow instructions
Ah Hacker! He's honestly such a great prof. because he made a 1 hour lecture interesting every single class. While you do need to read the book it is SO IMPORTANT that you show up for class and do your study terms b/c that is where many of the test answers are found. All in all, the best history class I've had and I can't wait to take him for 1302.
Professor Hacker just makes history so much fun to learn! His informational yet entertaining lectures leave me excited to learn more! His course consists of 3 tests, reading quizzes, & one other test grade (research paper). He always wants his students to succeed. i am now in HIS 1302 with him & plan to take other classes that he teaches!
My favorite professor! I took him for US History parts one and two, and for Texas History! I wish he taught more classes so I could take him again! Hacker for Prez.!!!
I love Professor Hacker and I wish he taught more classes. Make sure to always come to class and take good notes on his study terms, because if you do you'll easily make an A on his exams! He's very clear on how he grades- a few exams, easy online reading quizzes, and a paper. I highly recommend him for all your history classes!
Hacker is such a funny man. You can tell he's really passionate about history when he lectures. He makes jokes and makes the class laugh, so it's not just boring old blah blah blah about history. He answers questions thoroughly when you ask. He has pop quizzes, but they're 5 questions each and don't count against you. He wants to see you succeed.
I took Professor Hacker for both HIST 1301 and 1302. He is the most amazing professor I have ever had in college. His lectures are all clear, he explains the material clearly and funny. You must come to class everyday and take notes of his lectures. Focus on the study term and read the book before exams, and you will get an easy A. Highly recommend
He's very knowledgeable and can teach very well. He's also funny and makes learning history interesting.
A very funny teacher that convinced me to become a history major. As long as you pay attention in lecturers the test should be relatively easy, especially the final. Also don't forget about the reading quizzes!
I took Hacker for HIST1301 and had so much fun so I knew I had to take his HIST1302 class. I was not disappointed! Hacker is such a great speaker and makes the topics interesting. I didn't really need the textbook but it is CRUCIAL that you attend class since most of the questions on the test can be found from your lecture notes.
I took Mr. Hacker for the second half of History and absolutely loved it. I am actually taking him again right now for the first part of History. He is very funny, and makes History enjoyable to listen to. Staying on top of your assignments is important, as he only gives 2 tests and the final. 10/10 recommend to those who do or do not love History!
Professor Hacker is easily one of the best professors I've ever had. His lectures are interesting and actually make you want to learn. He has a point based grading system. He has a reading quiz every week on blackboard, they are easy 10 points. His exams are based on his lectures, so don't skip class!! If you are a good student, you will get an A.
Fantastic professor, all his lectures are interesting. His exams are based on them so don't miss any classes. I had him for 1301 and he gives one major research paper; the guidelines are very clear, I made a 100. He asks you to buy the textbook but I didn't use it all, everything you need to know is in the lectures. I highly recommend taking him.
Very clear grading criteria. Prof. Hacker has fantastic lectures! You will leave this class with a love for history. Take his class, you will not regret it!
Hacker is a wonderful professor. He lectures 24/7 but makes it fun and relatable. I recommend taking his class. Do all your reading quizzes and study hard before exams. 10/10 reccomend
THE FUNNIEST MAN EVER!! He makes 80 minutes of class feel like 5 minutes. I never look at the time because it goes by so fast. He's very funny, yet content in what he teaches. His lectures are very helpful and easy to understand. He will always help if you need it, whenever.
Professor Hacker was great! Make sure to keep up with the online quizzes and you'll do fine. Tests aren't too hard and instead of essays, he gives short answer questions. Occasionally he'll give out a pop quiz but they only counted as extra credit. You have you go to his office to see the specific results of your exams. Make sure to read the book.
The perfect professor, passionate about what he teaches and makes it interesting. Took him for both courses that he has for American history. Totally hot, too, in that daddy way. Surprised I could focus.
One of the best professors Ive ever had! Very understanding, basically saved my life when I got my dates confused about my final exam & let me make it up. (even though giving me a 10 point penalty). I took him for summer II online, do not regret it one bit!
Honestly a really great professor, his tests are a lot of material but he explains everything well and is really passionate about the class. He also would give side knowledge about the topics in class. A freaking M A N!
great guy and great teacher. funny, engaging, understanding, and makes you want to come to class
To do well in this class you have to read from the textbook which take up a lot of time. Your major grades are 3 tests and an oral presentation. Not an easy class.
Took this class online . with working 9 til 5 and one online course you may want to reconsider. He has no exceptions. This is not an easy A. He is clear on grading but if you fail you fail no make up work no extra credit. 3 major exams strictly from the book. Also 10+ reading assignment you must read or you will not pass trust me. 1 writing essay.
