of everyone i know having different teachers.. seems like i did the least amount of work with this teacher.. not only that but he considers almost everything you turn in as 'a' quality work.. u have to read a few books though.. theyre not bad but a lil pricey and a lil long

The most laid back teacher I've taken so far. You can lose consciousness for several weeks and still get an A.

He's very laid back! We're given so much restraints and restrictions in life, he gives us the power to let it all hang out in our writing. He's very easy, & great to talk to. Has some great stories to tell, and come reading, but I recommend this class to anyone looking for a great expereince! EASY!

Hargatai is very laid back and funny. He is not out to fail his students and is always willing to talk. He doesn't teach any grammar, so if you're looking for grammar intensive, don't take his class. He focuses mostly on personal writing.

If you're looking for a broad overview of classical literature or a development of grammatical skills, then I suggest that you take another section. Hargitai's class is definitely an FIU institution. Definitely quite the character! Focuses in more on creative writing more in tune with one's needs.

This dude's insane when it comes to teaching. Completely unorthodox in his methods. They work for some, and they don't work for others. Either way, it's an easy A. My friend didn't turn half the assignments and got a B+. Simply put, it's an easy A.

Amazing Professor, if you don't pass this class with a B or an A you have serious issues!!

this teacher is awesome..out of all my professors he has been the best. my enc 1101 teacher was super hard and everything to him never was enough but hargitai always gives his students a chance to fix their work and thats how we learn from our mistakes..so if u want an easy but fun teacher pick him because u wont regret it... TRUST ME

All i have to say is that hes awesome. Take his class i highly recommend it. Hes funny and def. talks alot esp. about himself and his personal experiances.

Wonderful professor! I enjoyed every minute of his class. I rarely skipped class, only when I had an emergency. He's very helpful and understanding. Honest and Knnowledgable. Take his class if you are willing to learn and at the same time have fun. You won't regret it!

This professor basically revolves the class around his own books and his life. His class is an easy A, he lets you rewrite things as many times as you want to get the grade you want. There is no way to not get an A!

Loved his class. Never thought I would read so much Hungarian writers in so little time, though very interesting. He is a great guy, great to talk to. Willing to help. Will make class time fun with crazy conversations and topics you woudn't picture in an average english class :)

Talk about easy! This guy is awesome and totally out there. There's never a dull day in his class, he's hilarious. He's not into the technicalities of writing, he just wants you to write the way you feel comfortable. Def. take him!! He's always willing to help.

Very easy teacher. Only reads his books in both classes. Hes fun and out going. I dont think we had any test. At the end of the semester he makes us do a portfolio. He will give extra credit assignments which he doesnt remember but if you put them in he'll give you the credit.

His class is very easy but moreso is extremly enjoyable. He's outgoing and funny and will always be engaging in class. Very open to everyone and everything. He's a bit off his rocker sometimes but in a positive way. He will always make you smile.

Awesome teacher. Not a few assignments that are super easy. You read about 5 books but you don't really have to finish them. The tests are just to write a summary of the book. He loves to talk freely and he's extremely funny. You can turn in your assignments whenever you have them.

Ok, so you have to read some of his books. But trust me, they have alot of depth and are interesting. He is a really good teacher, hilarious as hell, and lets you grade yourself. Take this class!

My favorite teacher in the whole university. Have taken him for two semesters. Every teacher should be like him, very relaxed, and in the end you come out of the class a changed person. Great perspective on life, and not afraid to show it how it is. Absolutely amazing, best thing I could have done to satisfy my english credits.

Great Professor. He's very interesting. He is also extremely understanding. He's the best professor that I've had at FIU so far.

I worked with Prof. Hargitai on an independent project, and he was very helpful. His input gave me a better understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of my manuscripts.

Hargitai is a very cool guy. He’s really funny and speaks about the most taboo of subjects (like sex, masturbation, death eroticism) every class. If you get a bad grade in a test, he’ll let you rewrite the test and it’s not due until the last class of the semester. If you enjoy laughing, take the class with Hargitai.

It’s not like a regular class. Actually, wait, it’s not like a class. He is not your professor. According to him, he is your writing therapist. Did I mention sex? Oh yea, sex is a biggie in that class. So for those of you with virgin ears, prepare yourselves. I have ADD, I dozed off like only a handful of times (that’s a compliment by the way).

This professor is a little nuts, but not hard at all. His papers are very easy to write and his quizzes are relatively easy too. He's a bit obsessed with sex, so if you incorporate that into your paper you should be fine.He's very helpful in & ou of class. Def. recommend this class!

This class is very fun! I really enjoyed it. He does like to talk anout sex and suicide so I dont recomend him if your easily insulted. Otherwise his class is uber easy!! Highly recomend him.

Very good class. In most english classes you learn just grammar and structure, but in this class you learn the things that they don't teach you in school. This professor preaches free writing and lack of cencorship. He also tries to teach tolerance, although some people take it personal. He's a funny, helpful and sincere professor.

I took this professor for both enc 1101 and 1102. He simply kept me awake, and anyone that can do that is amazing. We had writing assignments we mostly did book reviews and we had a research paper at the end. He tells jokes, talks about interesting subjects and he is really big on class participation. And put out the effort because he notices that.

I took this teacher for both ENC 1101 and 1102 and definitely recommend him! He is truly inspirational and encourages students to think for themselves. Though he focuses on sex and the complexes involved in sexual identity, this makes writing his papers even more fun and unique. He is a stellar individual with a big heart. TAKE HIM! :)

He is really a great professor. Although you have to read a lot in this class, and write a lot of reviews, the idea of having a portfolio and fixing your work before turning it in is great. I definetly recommend this teacher. =)

I don't know what that kid was talking about. He says that Hargitai did not teach but to my standards he taught me a lot more than other professors that only care about your paper following the "format" no matter what junk you may write. He makes you keep a journal that you MUST write in everyday also.

ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS I'VE EVER HAD. I'VE NEVER HAD A CLASS SO INTERESTING BEFORE. He promotes creativity and freedom of speech. If you're not a writer, you're going to leave as a writer.

This guy was funny. He loves the movie meet the Fockers. He may have a substance abuse problem and approves of foul language. He has an offensive odor and enjoys a night cap. You learn how to express your emotions in writing. Some may feel you learn nothing. But you will learn the importance of real communication and how to convey thoughts.

this inna is my dawg.. hargitai says bad words a lot n he's a mad g. He grades rediculous but if your good at bs'ing like me, then you will never need to read any of the assigned books. A must TAKE

This guy is hilarious, really bright and great writer. You have to read all his books throughout the semester but they are truely interesting. There are many papers to be written considering it is a gordon rule class. In the portfolio you turn in at the end of the semester: give yourself a good grade, or he'll give u exactly what you asked for.

Very easy. I read one of the 3 books and then realized I was wasting my time. The class was easy as hell and I passed with flying colors. Too easy. Teacher is very random and due to his ADD gets off topic alot. Beneficial to those who dont like lectures. HEHE.

Prof. Hargitai's ENG2012 is a fun and interesting course, not only is he good at teaching but he's also extremely helpful and flexible when it comes to attending class. It's mostly a reading/writing course, where the student has the opportunity to write and reflect on the books read in class. His books are fun and easy to read. He's very nice.

This is a GREAT course, I would recommend it to anyone! Prof. Hargitai is not only a good teacher, but he also makes the class fun & interesting. You get to read some of his books and watch movies that have to do with the books read, and after that write a paper. He has a really good way to getting students to write "freely". A MUST TAKE CLASS! : )

AWSOME PROFF. GREAT PERSONALITY, SENSE OF HUMOR! UNDERSTANDABLE, NOT A LOT OF WORK, BUT STRICT ON THE LENGTHS OF THE ASSIGNMENTS. NOT TOO ROUGH ON ATTENDANCE OR TARDINESS, AS LONG AS YOU GIVE A REASON. OVERALL, GREAT TEACHER.

I think Prof. Hargitai is not only one of the most reasonable prof. on campus, but he fosters a really open and free environment for students. His class is great for majors and non-majors alike, he's all encouragement and open regard.Very caring and willing to discuss a broad range of topics. One of the most self-aware and genuine people on campus.

His grading is grammar based,books are an easy read and all you write are journals/reviews. I recommend him if you write well,and don't mind reading so much. Class is HILARIOUS, you learn and laugh a lot! perfect Attnd. is extra credit! He teaches from his books because he knows them best. Much better then teaching from a book he doesn't know well.

The class is very chill. He shows movies. All you need to do is write reviews on the books and movies assigned and there is a midterm. He is very funny and interesting. I reccommend him.

Very chill, super funny, and creates a fun learning environment. Class is very informal and always fun to be in to see what he's going to say. He assigns like 5 novels to read and you write some papers on them. Longest he'll make them is 8 pages. I got an A and had some great laughs in that class as well as a little more appreciation for writing.

can honestly say that this class has been my favorite class at FIU. Professor Hargatai's passion and love for his books motivates and inspires me to do the same. His class allowed me to freely express my thoughts and feelings with no barriers. I recommend anyone to take this class!

This guy was real funny. Sure, he did go off on little tangents of random things, but definately gave us the info needed. Watchd movies in class = awesome. Altho I'm never a good "spur of the moment writer" he let us run free w/ our writing. 1 thing not liked: he pickd the person who wrote the most (whom never changd) & no one else to read in class

Not your typical english class. More of a free class style. You learn more about yourself than you do about english. Recommend this teacher to anyone who hates being taught exactly by the book and prefers a more relaxed teaching style.

This professor is something like, Robin Williams in 'Dead Poets Society' with ADD and a dark sense of humor. It may be true that you don't really learn that much about literature, but you won't care. I used to be almost afraid of writing, but now I love it. AMAZING class! Funny, intelligent, and understanding professor. Funnest A you'll earn.

Awesome man! Easy grade! Attendance isn't required! I highly recommend him if you hate english, especially literature and all that nonsense. If you REALLY want to learn english or if you hate cursing and talking about unconfortable topics such as sex, take another teacher.

Easy 'A'. If you like literature, i wouldnt recomend this class. He makes you read his own books and you watch about 3-4 movies in class. Other than that, the class discussions contain a lot of cursing, and uncomfortable topics like sex and politics. Great class for a slacker, but not a good choice if you want to learn.

Great professor who truly enjoys writing.Students should take the time to read the books, even if the books were written by him.They are actually good books.People often mistake his kindness for weakness.Those same students that come on here and put him down are the same ones that dont bother to come to class and try to learn something from him.

Professor Hargitai is an asset to the university and college experience. Hargitai's teaching style is centered on ethos and pathos. I attended his ENG 2012 lecture my freshman year and he's one of - if not the only - professor worth remembering. To be frank, any student who clings to a syllabus probably won't enjoy college.

Eccentric. yes. In a good way though, he keeps class fun and interesting. Recommended for those who aren't uptight and desire to improve the quality of their writing without being put to sleep.

His unorthodox way of teaching appeals to me the most. He's not like most teachers that demand your full attention followed by a lengthy paper. He gets you interested in your paper's topic by having a discussion about it. He's very funny and easy to get along with. Intimidation is left at the door! I highly recommend him.

Take his class! I have never liked any of my English teachers but Professor Hargitai is an exception. He gives interesting topics to write about and helps shy students become confident. His assignments are not difficult and his feedback is very helpful. I guarantee that you will learn in his class and you will get at least a B+ if you try!

Hargitai is the BOMB! You'll laugh and have a great time in this class. He uses his own personal experiences to get you to understand the topic at him. i definitely recommend anyone and EVERYONE take him! Best ENC 1101 teacher you can have!

TAKE HIM!. He might not be the best proffesor at FIU but he is definetly a good professor to take for this class. He gets very personal with his life and always makes jokes on students. I definetly recommend him if you enjoy not being bored for an hour.

This professor will make sure you do not fail. Practically no one receives a grade lower than a C in the course. There are easy quizzes, two papers, and a daily journal entry to be done. Very chill class. I would recommend taking him.

Hargitai and I had a rough start because I'm used to specific guidelines for papers and he doesn't give you that. His assignments challenged us to think outside the box and "take the monkey off our back" as he would say. He wanted us to enjoy writing and he definitely accomplished that.

I have had him for 2 classes now: approaches to lit and creative writing. Trust me when I tell you this will be the easiest A you will receive at FIU.He is the Winkle of the English Department =)

Professor Hargitai definitely earned my respect throughout the semester. His lectures are hilarious and unstable, but there is an incredible underlying depth to them. The only professor, so far, that I'll have a lasting, fond memory of. Be careful with your grade though; you need to do the essays correctly! Carpe Diem

Great Professor. really wants you to succeed. always emailed back. would take again if i could. you dont have to go every class but since he doesnt really follow a schedule, youd be lost if you came in at the end.

Crazy professor but i enjoyed his class. We did have to read alot of material(most of which was his). He tends to ramble alot but overall an easy A if you read.

this class is very easy but you do have two 10 page papers! he gives out extra credit like nobody's business but he is organized so follow up on it. he does have favorites and frequently talks about sex. write about sex in all your papers and if you can... flirt with him.

Beyond funny, considerate and very experience in the field of literature. Take him you'll be glad that you did!

This professor changed my life. He is my favorite person at FIU by far. Ok so he says bad words but it is such a small price to pay and most of the time its in a humorous context. The man is very funny and very helpful and he cares about his students. He opened my eyes to a world hidden in plain sight and I would never trade that experience.
