Excellent teacher. Highly recommend.
He is a wonderful teacher. He explains everything that you need to know really well and will help you with any questions. I would recommend him for anyone.
wonderful professor. Explains material very well. He is extremely fair. He gives an easy quiz at the beginning of the semester. I loved him. My avg was like a 99. Just study your notes and you will do great.
He is extremely fair, helpful and knows his stuff. He give 6 quizzes and drops the lowest grade. If you come to class regularly and take good notes, you can make an A or B and learn a lot.
If you have to take Chem... PICK HIM!!! he is the best... you will never regret it...
Excellent prof. Would recommend him to everyone. He gives 6 exams and he drops the lowest exam grade. All exams are fill in the blank and show your work, so he gives you credit for trying. If you come to class and take good notes you will get an A. He does not move on to a new subject until everyone in the class understands. I wish he taught 1152.
He is the best!!! I only made an A in this class because he was my professor. He makes it so easy to understand and gives you short-cuts to follow with certain problems. He breaks things down and explains them so it is easy to understand. He is so willing to help you before and after class.
I dreaded Chemistry, and he's the professor for students who dreaded Chemistry. He made it sooo easy to understand and he teaches very well. Better take him if you want an A for this class.
Amazing teacher. Great asset to Kennesaw. Makes difficult material understandable. He made me interested in a subject I was terrified of. I never took Chem in HS and still was able to get an A in his class by studying. He is strict on his grading so be careful not to make small mistakes. He's easily accessible before and after class for extra help.
Wonderful professor. I was never good at chemistry, but he made it very accessible. If you come to class regularly and take notes you will get a good grade. He is always willing to help before, during and after class. I highly recommend him. Very intelligent professor.
Absolutely AMAZING!!! Best professor ever!! I hated chemistry in HS, and I had least expectations of passing this class!!! I made an A. Attendance is not mandatory but you don't wanna miss any class. He gives very good notes, we barely used the text book.He Posts previous tests on web ct.If you take notes and attend all his classes you will do great
Take him! Breaks it down & won't move on until you understand. You have to speak up if you need help but he will always help you. I failed Chem in HS over 10 yrs ago & I had to work hard in this class but I came out with a B. I thnk, had I studied more, I would have gotten an A. Watch your units, rounding & sig figs, he doesn't play around w/those.
I had Dr. Bryson last semester and had to drop-she was ridiculus! TAKE HENRICKS!I got a B pretty easily. He makes this difficult subject make sense. He also teaches High School, so he is used to teaching Chemistry to people who have never had it before. No homework, 5 tests, and he curves! Hes down to earth, friendly and wants everyone to do well.
Henricks is the only teacher to take for 1151! He is awesome! He explains things very well and is very patient with everyone. If you work hard and study the material this class is an easy A!
Professor Henricks has the ability to explain the material in multiple ways so that all students can understand. He is a laid back and interesting character.
INCREDIBLE. I absolutely hated chemistry in high school and dreaded taking this class. Mr. Henricks actually made it enjoyable! He is very very clear in his explanations and gives you old tests to help you study. Very very possible to get an A if you do the practice problems and practice tests. I would take him for 1152 if I could!
He knows his stuff, and he knows how to teach it. he's the best chem teacher. his notes are crystal clear, he puts notes, hw answers, additional problems, practice tests online. they REALLY help!! he only teaches you what you need to know.take it and you'll get an A! he's really awesome! 5 tests and a cumulative final.
Take Mr. Henricks for Chem 1151. I practiced the problems often and attended class most of the time. Don't be afraid to ask a question! He always fully answered my questions and did not make me feel stupid. The final was HORRIBLE though. Either I did way better than I thought or he did a HUGE curve because I kept my A.
HIGHLY Recommend. Absolute THE BEST teacher for this subject. Funny, engaging, teaches with a style I've never seen before: forget the books, just follow him and what he writes on the board. Provides all notes online, plus examples of old tests with answers. Great stuff online ... very helpful. This was my favorite class and teacher this semester.
If you have to take chemistry and suck at it--you have to take him. His notes are straightforward, as are his tests. The final is killer. It's not that is is hard, but he words it differently than all the other exams and tries to trick you. I made out with an A, but I worked hard for it. You have to go to class, take good notes and STUDY! Take him!
Attend the classes and you will learn chem from Henricks. The tests are straight forward but the final was a killer! He does NOT drop your lowest test grade. He makes chemistry interesting. I wish he taught 1152.
Mr. Henricks is extremely helpful. He has study sessions and has pre-tests online along with answers that help prepare you for your test. He has a lot of made up words to help you remember things for your test such as 'protacticity'. I would recommend this class to everyone. Oh, if you can't handle sarcasm, don't pick this class.. much sarcasm.
This teacher was an amazing chem teacher! He was straight forward. We only used the book for homework problems[wasn't manditory]. The guy knows his stuff, although he is very sarcastic. He will anwser every question you have, but you will get a smart reply before the anwser. I would recommend him to anyone.
Loved him. I had never had chem before and I made an A and loved the class. His practice tests are very similar to the actual tests.Hw is not mandatory. Awesome teacher!! Sarcastic but funny
Great Professor. The textbook is only for personal gain, show up and you'll do well on the tests. Very clear. My only complaint is that he doesn't teach organic chem.
Most sarcastic smart-ass professor ever. He teaches at a high school during the daytime so it's really hard to get a hold of him. Doesn't respond to emails or questions on vista. Sometimes I feel like he's just teaching to make an extra buck and entertain instead of help. Gives a lot of smartass answers when you ask a question without answering.
If you care about your grade do NOT take him.His tests are very hard, he doesn't curve even though 2/3 of his class is failing! No study guides or old tests online. does not reply emails and he says he'll post problems for practice but he does NOT!
He's horrible. I took his class and had to withdraw, I have heard that other 5 people have also dropped. His tests are extremely difficult! He does not curve! We walked into the test not knowing what to expect.. Do not take him! I am a A/B students and had never dropped a class before. His class was a nightmare!
my advice: do not take him!!!!
Awful professor, did not enjoy his class at all... I had to drop him!
Does not care about students succeeding in class. Does not give you study guide for tests and does not curve even though more than half of the class fails tests. Seems like he cares more about making jokes than students doing well. He knows chemistry well but he just doesn't care. Do not take his class unless you are already good at chemistry.
I'm not really sure what all the negative comments are about. I have him this semester and yeah I would say he is pretty hard- but it's chemistry it's going to be hard no matter who you take it with. I find his lectures to be very clear and straight forward. The tests take a lot of preperation-so don't wait to study!
Hard class, but IT IS chemistry. Expects you to somewhat already know how to do things. Doesn't use the book at all. Tests are very hard. class went from 70 to 40 after the first test. Doesn't curve. I recommend someone else.
I'm terrible at Chem but Henricks is EXTREMELY good at explaining the concepts. He gives real-life examples for the info which is helpful. He is very willing to answer any questions, grades tests quickly and fairly. Very humorous and down to earth in lecture, which makes class more fun. I HIGHLY recommend his class. I wish he taught all the Chems.
DO NO BELIEVE THESE RATINGS. THIS GUY IS THE WORST TEACHER EVER. STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE THE OPTION. HE WILL TEACH YOU ONE THING IN CLASS AND THEN TEST YOU ON SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIF AND WHEN ASKED HE WILL SAY HE DID IT ON PURPOSE. HE EVEN HAS STUDY GUIDES THAT HE REFUSED TO POST ONLINE BECAUSE IT WAS ''TOO MUCH WORK FOR HIM TO TYPE IT OUT''
Best Prof in a long time. Was very good at explaining concepts and answering questions. PRINT OUT THE ONLINE HANDOUTS!!! this helped me tremendously. His lecture is straight from the handouts. Before the exams look over the previous years test he post online. I never opened the book and expect to get an A in the class. Notecard use for final.
THESE COMMENTS MUST BE FAKE. This is the worst teacher I have ever seen in college. People have passed Chem 1 with B's and are barely getting by in his class. It is a true statement to wonder how he still teaches at Kennesaw, he should be fired.
he's a bad chen 1211 professor. Hard long tests,I would not recommend him at all. I worked so hard in this class and my effort was not worth it. The final was brutal and they didnt curve so it dropped me a full letter grade. Oh he doesnt curve his tests either
He is VERY hard to get a hold of but if you like science and understand the concepts... it is not difficult. The other writers probably just did not like having to put effort into a class. Get a study group, go to class, and work hard... you will be fine!! I loved professor henricks but he is not lenient. i got an A.
If you want to fail Chemistry then take this professor. He is a funny dude but as far as helping when one needs help or going out his way to help his students that is a No.If your excellent a Chemistry then you are good. :)
Avoid if you can.He does not care about his students. No practice test,no curving, study guide useless, refuses to put any problems for students to practice,no bonus question on the test.Watch your letters on the test or loose points.Puts questions on the test that he never taught in class.Final is hard but curved.Does nor respond to e-mails.
To all the people talking about curving, it's not his decision. He isn't allowed by the department and could get fired if he curved his tests. Honestly, I think he's a very good teacher. He's really funny and explains everything very well. If you put in all your effort and didnt make an A then Chem isn't your subject and its not his fault.
So here's the deal with henricks. He is a selfish human being that has no passion for reaching his students. He was very vindictive towards Professor Lewis and truly tried failing nearly all students. He gives a larger volume of questions and more complicated questions on his test versus EVERY OTHER TEACHER. If you have the option do not take him..
Very cool teacher! Highly recommend everyone take him. Does not use textbook at all, but you may need it for peer led sessions in 1151L. Teaches from his power point notes and gives PLENTY of examples and helpful practice tests on Georgia View. Attendance is not a requirement, but helpful to receive extra notes and practice. Easy A!
What an amazing teacher!!! If you have to take Chem, take Henricks. He is so helpful. Don't bother buying the book, you won't use it. Tests come straight from the notes, which are posted online and he gives tons of practice in and out of class to help. If you go to class and study, there's no reason you shouldn't get an A.
Very clear on what he will be testing over and is good at conveying the info. Gives study guide tests.
I am not good at Chem, but he made it simple. He does alot of problems n class and if you can do them, you will make an A in the class. The tests are ALWAYS easier than the problems he gives in class to work out. Midway through semester, I was tutoring other classes students in what we had already learned b/c their teacher just assigned aton of hw.
I was DREADING chemistry class but was lucky enough to get the best professor KSU has. Mr. Henricks made Chemistry easy to understand and gave lots of examples to work in class. Go to class, take notes, and you too will understand Chemistry! I only wish he taught the next level. GREAT teacher!
I LOVE MR. HENRICKS!!! I'm going to miss him sooooo much and wish he taught 1152. He's so funny and nice. His class is easy and he puts up additional problems online to help study. This was by far my favorite class here at KSU.
I absolutely love him! I was really nervous about taking chem but he's made it super easy and somewhat interesting. He is very sarcastic, and a total nerd but that's why I like him the most he is so excited about what he is doing! Not an easy A.. you have to study and really know the material, but defiantly fair and attainable.
He's sarcastic and funny...which lightens the class up. He'll answer anyones questions. The only bad thing is the tests are your whole grade. he doesnt give quizzes or extra credit but he will curve a test if the outcome is bad overall. although it isn't mandatory, GO TO CLASS..you woulnt hve to buy the book if you do. TAKE HIM HES AWESOME!!
He made chem a breeze for me. If chem is not your strongest subject take him! He is also a high school teacher so I guess you could say he keeps it simple. You don't have to go to class but you do get pretty behind if you don't. You don;t use the text book, so don't buy it,
He is a great teacher and takes the extra time to explain things if you don't understand. He goes straight off a pwrpt and gives plenty of examples. He tells you pretty much everything you need to know, so you don't need the book unless you don't plan on attending class. We had 5 tests and a final that made up our whole grade. Overall loved him!
He is so funny. He gives a lot of examples during class and also posts worksheets on his website. I rarely ever touched the book. I just showed up for class and did his online worksheets
I loved Professor Henricks! haha he was very funny and kept the class alive. He was very helpful when I was not sure about something and he was glad to help out. His tests are not very hard but you need to at least look over your notes once or twice to make sure you get that 100. There are only 5 tests and that is it. I recommend him! he's great!
Great, funny teacher! The class itself has a lot of material and is difficult. But he definitely makes it much more comprehensible and fun wit his humor. Homework is optional. No quizzes, only tests. He provides old tests as reference and they are helpful. Do the optional hw it helps. Test questions come from book, hw, and notes
Great professor! Explains material very well, and provides many examples. Doesn't use book, but may be useful in lab! Tests are straight forward if you study your notes.Posts practice tests and powerpoints online. Love him! Best chem professor.
Great professor! He is funny and has a lot of energy! He is helpful and understanding and gives some pretty big curves on a couple of tests. You don't use the book but there are practice problems that can help you out. The tests are pretty straight forward, but can be a little tricky. Not too hard though. He is the best Chem prof! Take him!!
So far the BEST chem professor I've had. He is very helpful and breaks things down to make it understandable. Doesn't use book, only PPTs. Chem isn't easy so make sure to practice but he only lectures on what's on test. He's funny. Overall I learned a lot in his class. Study hard and you'll do good!
Henricks is GREAT! He sticks to the syllabus, only 5 test and the final! Come to class, listen, study and you will do great!!
Considering that this is Chemistry , he is amazing . Teaches chemistry like you never had it before. I'd recommend him to anyone
In high school, I nearly failed Chemistry so I was pretty nervous. However, Prof Henricks made it so easy to understand and I actually ended up liking Chem for the first time! I definitely recommend Prof Henricks. He's a great teacher and is very funny and does not hesitate to explain things over and over.
Prof. Henricks is a great, funny, and engaging professor. Go to class, even though it isn't mandatory, and you're much more likely to succeed. His tests are very straightforward. Even though I didn't study much, I got A's on almost every test. He really seems to care about student success and actually understanding the material.
Henricks is an awesome prof and very helpful. He goes through ppts thoroughly and will answer any question. He even has the ppts, notes, old tests, and practice worksheets on his D2L. Even though attendance was not mandatory, go. You will pass if you pay attention.
Y'all. He is literally the best prof! I made a C in High school chem and got an A with him! He explains everything throughly and asks if EVERYONE understands before moving on. Make sure you ask questions if you don't understand and he will take the time to make sure you do understand. defiantly take him! He's also funny!
Tough class if you are not natural at science- but AWESOME professor! 4 Tests plus the final are your only grades. Will take questions throughout lecture and will help you before or after class. Sarcastic sense of humor. Take him if you are a nursing major!
VERY good professor! Chemistry is a hard class in general, so I wouldn't say the class was easy. He is very helpful and provides study guides and I didn't even buy the book and I made an A! Take him!
Cannot recommend him enough if you haven't taken chemistry before. He does plenty of practice problems and examples in class. Tests are not easy, but definitely doable. Attending class, doing the practice tests, and studying are required to make an A. He does curve some tests, but the amount depends on how well/poorly the class did on the test.
He is a very good professor! Your grade is maybe up of five tests and one final. The first test is pretty simple, all you have to do is memorize 40 elements. I would definalty recommend him! People who wrote bad reviews about him only did so because they were too lazy to study and failed. If you study and attend class, you will do fine! -K
VERY easy class as long as you attend (not mandatory) and study his power point notes. He goes through his lectures at a snails pace to make sure everyone is on the same page. Asking questions in class is encouraged. He tries his best to ensure every one in class understands the material being taught. Wish there were more professors like him.
ALL NURSNING MAJORS TAKE THIS CLASS! Henricks is a great professor and makes class interesting. Made A's on all the tests. I thought that chemistry would be a lot harder, but Henricks makes everything so clear. Definitely recommend!
Take this class if all possible. He is an amazing teacher. He starts off like you never had Chem before and builds up from there. He is funny and makes class as entertaining as possible. He gives multiple study guides and post his power points. Also, gives a periodic table test which is basically a free test grade. AWESOME TEACHER
Nursing majors take him. I was home-schooled for HS, so I have never had chemistry, but he made it do-able and easy to follow. 5 testsyour grade, final is cumulative, he hands back your old tests to prep for the final. His lectures are mainly going over examples over & over so you get used to solving them. Really funny & down to earth prof
LOVED this class. Henricks is hilarious, gives clear lectures, and his practice tests are very similar to tests in class. It seems like everyone else in the class enjoyed it as well, even if chem is difficult. He can be condescending at times, but it's all in good humor. DEFINITELY TAKE HIM!!!
Great teacher. I wish he was doing Chem 1152. I thoroughly understood it and I wish every Chem class was like this. 5 tests each worth 100 points and a final worth 150. Go to class and you'll do great. I'm really going to miss him. Tests are clear cut and mostly multiple choice. He's funny too and shows us random videos every now and then. Take him
BA DA BING BA DA BOOM!!! hhahah he is awesome. his old exams are on d2l to help you prep for tests. pay attention in class, do all the additional practice probs & the stuff inside bubbles when water boilswater !!! love him, he makes chemistry bearable
I wish he was teaching Chem 1152 . Amazing professor! I took chemistry in high school so this class was a review for me, but he teaches like none of the students took high school chemistry and starts from scratch. Made all A's on the tests and 1 high B. Attendance isn't mandatory but I would still show up. Nursing majors please take him!
Henricks is an amazing professor for anyone who has never had chemistry! I have never taken chem before, but did well in this class! He assumes you know nothing about chemistry and teaches from there! Class is NOT mandatory, but I learned everything from lectures. Did not use the book once, was a waste of money.
Professor Henricks is the most amazing person ever! All nursing majors take this class! There are only 5 tests and a final but definitely an easy A if you apply yourself by going to class and reading the book. Attending lecture is not mandatory but it really helps. He explains everything really well and gives good tips on remembering things.
He is good and the class is an Easy AB course. All exams are multiple choice and makes everything simple and breaks it down for you. He is also a teacher at North Cobb High School. Not a Nursing major and took this for the science req. made a B. Nursing people take him. You can easily get an A or B in this course. Don't buy book, it's not used!
Literally the best chemistry professor you can take. Tests are super easy if you pay attention in class and know what you are doing. He did get kinda tricky on the final exam with rounding and units but if you pay close attention you will be perfectly fine. TAKE HIM. IT'S NOT HARD TO GET AN A IN HIS CLASS. P.S- He is really funny.
He is passionate about Chemistry and makes the material understandable. He is a high school teacher in Cobb- teaches at high school level. If you put in the work and time, you will get a good grade. He is very sarcastic with students and can be hurtful at times. I would take him again because he is a good teacher but do not like him as a person.
Easy A! Got A's on all tests, and there's a periodic table test at beginning of semester which is a grade booster. No quizzes or projects. Love his sarcasm and wit. Gives plenty to practice examples and makes chemistry easy and bearable! Don't but the textbook.
If you are a nursing major take him! 5 tests and a final exam. He does a very good job of explaining and gives tons of example problems for you to work. He has power points, chapter notes, extra practice problems, and old tests on d2l for you to use as study guides. This is an AB class if you attend lecture and study. Don't buy the textbook.
as he says everythings easy if you know what your doing. love the sarcasism
Great Professor, if you don't pass his class its a you problem. Use outside resources such as youtube videos. Textbook not needed, no mandatory HW, attendance is not mandatory
He's a great teacher! It's never a dull moment in his class because he's enthusiastic & he clearly loves what he does. I definitely recommend him!
Amazing teacher and has many sources on D2l ! he is also very helpful! the class before the exam he finishes early to help his students with the material! i am not the best at chemistry but i loved that class ! best chem teacher ever
Henricks was an amazing chem teacher. Really knows his stuff, makes lectures fun, gave LOTS of practice problems for the material, and overall engaged me in chem. I made high A's on his exams because I studied a lot outside of class. He's witty but was always willing to answer my questions over the material.
Chemistry did not make sense to me for the longest time, but Professor Henricks helped me finally make a break through. He is super clear but if you don't understand something he will walk up the lecture hall stairs to personally come help you. His tests are always multiple choice, he drops the lowest test grade, & his sarcastic humor is hilarious
He is an awesome teacher. Treats the class like a high school class. The first test is an elements test so there is no reason not to get a 100. He drops the lowest test. A little sarcastic but nothing rude. I recommend taking him 100%
I did better in this Chem class than I did in high school. Barely studied, just took notes on the power point slides. 4 tests 1 final and he drops the lowest test grade
BEST Professor!! Take him! His lectures are great and tests are fairly easy. You can get an A. You don't have to do any outside reading or homework just studying.
The best teacher i had all year, he was very helpful, clear, understood exactly what he was talking about and could give multiple examples on the spot. He's hilarious and made the class fun, he's not scared to pick on you or call you out, but overall i love the guy.
I started off pretty well in his class and had two high A's on the first tests, but then my other three fell off. Fortunately, I got to drop my lowest test and killed the final so I finished with an A. He really does make things very clear and if you miss class you'll most likely not do well on the tests.
He is a very good professor. This class is already pretty tough but he makes it manageable. One bad thing about the class is that your only grades are tests but he does give one fluff test at the beginning of the semester. He also posts old tests for practice. Just show up and pay attention and study and you will do fine.
This teacher was amazing! He fully explains everything in class and is very good about answering questions that students have. His lectures are long, but he is a funny guy so they aren't terribly boring. The tests are hard if you don't study but he offers study sessions and does a lot of examples in class so just pay attention and do your work.
THIS is a prime example of what an EXCELLENT Professor is! He's VERY clear as he lectures. He STOPS and tries to find ways to help you, if you need help. Loves being energetic & peppy. I'm sure he does that because he knows we're all dying inside. The material is HARD. GO to the SI Sessions. Study a WEEK in advance and you'll pass!!
Hendricks is by far one of the best teachers i've had. He's clear in explaining concepts and answers any questions you have (with lots of sarcasm). Do not skip a class or you'll fall behind like I did but luckily he drops the lowest test grade out of the 5 you take. Final is cumulative. Don't by textbook though, not necessary.
Henricks is an amazing teacher, he will do whatever it is he has to do to make you understand. He is sarcastic, silly and actually makes class enjoyable. The five tests are the only grades that you get. SI sessions help tremendously. Take him if you're a nursing major. Easy A if you put in a little effort.
Great professor, easy to understand and approachable. Tests are not too hard if you take good notes and study a little. I've never understood chemistry this easily in my life!
Great teacher. If you participate, you pass.
I love him!!!! I WISH he was teaching 1152 next semester. Grades are only 4 exams and a final, lowest exam is dropped. He teaches very clearly and works tons of examples, and if you show you'll definitely get A's on all your tests. He's very funny and sarcastic so don't take it seriously if he says anything mean lol. Best professor ever.
Great professor! I would definitely recommend anyone who is taking CHEM 1151 to take him. Class isn't technically mandatory, but if you skip you will be way behind. He is super sarcastic but really funny and gets the information across really well. If you go to class and study for the tests you will do great in his class.
He is an amazing teacher, but its a hard course. He's funny, relatable and obviously enjoys teaching. He always has Kool Aid. No eating in class, very joking, amazing teacher. Answers questions clearly all that good stuff
I have NEVER understood chemistry in my life, but Mr. Henricks was absolutely incredible!! He seriously knows what he is doing and loves to help students. It is really obvious that he cares for his students and he always makes sure you never walk away confused. He is very sarcastic which can rub some people the wrong way, but he's awesome! TAKE HIM
I was always so bad at chemistry and I was really nervous about taking it in college, but Mr. Hendricks makes it easy to understand. The only scary part of this class is that there are no other grades besides the tests and no extra credit, but he does curve the tests sometimes. It is not hard to get an a in this class if you pay attention and try.
Fantastic teacher! he is great, very clear with how to go about problems and if you have any questions he does everything he can to best explain and help. I enjoy chem while not giving too much effort and I couldn't have asked for a better chem teacher my first semester.
If you can take him, do. He is hilarious and makes the subject easy to digest. Attend class, actively practice the problems, and study his old exams and there's no reason you should not get an A. Chemistry made easy!
Very funny and wants students to succeed.
TAKE HIM! I hate chemistry, and I mean every single bit of it but I showed up 98% of the time. He's very clear in lecture and if you don't understand something, he'll go over it with you again and again until you do. He gives tons of practice problems in class which sets you up for success on every exam! Nursing major? This is your guy.
IF YOU ARE A NURSING MAJOR TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Best teacher I've ever had. Makes chemistry easy to grasp by providing SEVERAL examples in class. He's also hilarious so it isn't boring to listen to him. Show up to every class if you can though, because even if the notes are online his explanation makes it SO much easier!! TAKE HIM.
Prof. Henricks is by far the best teacher I have ever had while attending KSU. He has 4 tests (1 gets dropped) and a final. As long as you go to class and look over the previous tests he's given online, you'll make a good grade on all the tests! He is so funny and extremely helpful. I wish he was teaching 1152!!!
Professor Henricks is one of the more enjoyable chemistry teachers I've dealt with. He's very good at explaining things and provides lots of example problems to help you learn the material. The only assignments you have to do are the tests, which aren't too bad as long as you study. Overall he's a very good teacher.
Incredible professor. Posts notes, powerpoints, practice problems, and practice tests online (along with answers) but still go to class because he explains it much better there. Makes everything seem simple. 5 Tests, including an element test which is an easy A for a test grade, and a Final. Drops the lowest test.
Take him!! I thought Chem would be the reason I would be stressed this semester, but Prof Henricks made this class so easy! He breaks down the material and always gives practice problems. Pwr points, old tests (and answers), and practice problems are online. He is a great professor and wants his students to succeed!
TAKE HIM. 4 test and he drops the lowest grade and a mandatory final. Gives ample problems to practice in class during lecture, so do NOT buy the book. Test are easy and comes straight from the notes, no surprises. If you're a nursing major take him, you would have to try to not get an A.
I did not mind his personality. However, when it comes to the work I put in for this class, I did not receive the grade I deserved. I studied every single night and earned a D. Even going to SI sessions and test reviews, I have nothing to show for it. He teaches really fast, given the material is not the easiest. over 2oo people in every class
I believe that Peter Henricks is above and beyond the best professor I have ever had. I had to retake chemistry 1151 because when I first took the class at Georgia State I received a D. Professor Henricks quite simply knows how to teach effectively and if you show up to every class and do the practice problems, you will earn an A. 10/10
Henricks is the best chemistry professor at KSU. His lectures are easy to follow and although chemistry is pretty tough, he does a good job of teaching this material. I learned a lot in his class. He is, however, a VERY tough grader when it comes to exams so be careful. He drops your lowest test as well.
Chemistry has become one of my easiest classes because of him! You have to do a lot of math problems in this subject, but he gives you PLENTY of practice during class. And if you don't understand something, he will go back over it as many times as needed and does not believe in "dumb questions". Don't buy the book, you won't need it.
Only 4 tests and final. He's funny but sometimes it becomes annoying. His tests can be hard but he posts his power points online. He drops the lowest test grade which helps but you need to study a lot to get a good grade.
Henricks knows what he's talking about and teaches it perfectly. Got a C in honors Chem in high school, pulled a solid A in his class. 5 tests and a final and the first test is just elements, easy 100. Just come to class, do the practice, and ask questions if needed. If you're a nursing major, take him. Class not mandatory but I'd recommend going.
He can be a nerdy, smart aleck.. but he is good. I liked his lectures. Go to the SI's, go to class everyday, and practice you will do well! Five tests and a final. He is open to questions, he likes them. He is a good professor, great notes.
Chem 1152 was far easier than I thought it would be. Prof. Henricks has an engaging, witty, sarcastic style, and he is good at conveying information in a comprehensible manner. Unfortunately, he doesn't have office hours, so talk to him after class or go to SI if you have questions. Also, you get to drop your lowest test grade, which is helpful.
He is an amazing professor! He gives so many examples for each sub-lesson in a unit. Makes the class very simple and cracks jokes all the time. Go to class if you want to get a full understanding of the unit. Only 6 tests, the first is an element test (easy af) and then there are 4 unit tests (drops lowest of the five tests) and a mandatory final
If you're a nursing major at KSUTAKE HIS CLASS!! Easiest chemistry course I have ever taken and he tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests so there is no surprises. I was never good at chem, and he taught the class in the most simplest form ever! GREAT PROFESSOR!
Henricks is such a good teacher. TAKE HIM. He makes chemistry as doable as it gets. Test content is exactly what's taught in class and he uploads old tests which are basically the same as the ones you'll take. Pretty easy to get an A.
I took this class during Summer Semester! It was my first time taking a hard class like Chem during the summer and I did great! He has online powerpoints and gives SO MUCH practice in class that you do NOT have to practice at home! He makes everything easy and clear! If you are a Nursing major then def take him!
Probably the best chem professor you can have. The only grades are the 5 tests (drops the lowest one) and the final. If you come to class and study before the tests you shouldn't get less than a B. The semester is almost over and I have a 100 in the class. Hope I have him for chem 2
May seem intimidating at first because of his sarcasm but he is a good teacher! Gives about 5 test and a final, which can really help your grade. I have not made less than an A on any of his test, I strongly suggest taking him. Going to SI sessions really helped me through this class
Best Chemistry teacher ever. He takes time to explain the material and makes sure the whole class understand before he moves on! The test follows the old test that he puts on d2l. He has an amazing personality. The only thing is he is sassy.
Professor Hendricks is the best. He explains things in easy to understand ways and makes sure that everyone understands. He is kind of sassy and sarcastic but you get used to it. He is nice and cares about his students. As long as you show up, study and go to SI sessions, you will get a good grade.
BEST CHEM TEACHER! I have him right now and as long as you show up and practice you will be good. HIs expectations are clear, and his test are very easy (IF YOU GO TO CLASS AND PAY ATTENTION). He turned a class that is hard for so many people into a great class. If you can take him, DO IT
Go to lecture and pay attention to what he says in class and you can pass this course. The tests are very similar to the practice questions he writes on the board. The book is useless compared to his examples during the lecture. If you miss a class, you miss a few questions that will be on the test. His tests are predictable but a bit difficult.
Hated Chemistry in high school but this teacher made me love it! He explains stuff SO well and if you do his practice problems and listen to his instructions, you can easily make an A in the class. His tests are pretty easy too. He also uploads all his notes online. Also uploads multiple practice tests and practice problems online
TAKE HIM!! I hate chem and am very bad at it and was making As on all his tests. His lectures are very heavy on practice problems and he will do 20 examples to make sure you know what he is talking about. He is hilarious to and makes the class enjoyable. He gives funny short cuts that he makes up to make the material so so easy to understand
He can be a little harsh and his sarcasm makes you not want to ask questions but he's an amazing teacher who really makes the material make sense. He is a lot tougher in the first few weeks but softens up a bit. I found his lectures interesting. Print the powerpoints for class, find a buddy to ask q's when you're confused and GO TO SI!!!
Take him for Chem 1151! His PowerPoints are very to detail and tests are not difficult at all. Yes, youll have to study, but with the effort put in it should be an easy A.
Nursing majors take him! I did really good in his class and never took chemistry in high school. When he lectures he gives you tons of practice questions to help you really understand the material. Go to SI sessions! They help so much!
I actually like chemistry after taking this class. Henricks is an amazing professor. He can be REALLY sarcastic, so if you have to ask a question, be prepared for a snarky comment (he means no harm). Hes super funny and wants his students to succeed. Also, take advantage of SI sessions! They help a ton.
5 tests. drop 1. and final. So graded on 4 tests and 1 final to equal 550 points. Suggestion: SI sessions. I aced Pre-AP Chem in high school and thought I'd be ok. Well I just ended up having to work harder to get an A on the final to ace the class (I prayed to God thank you Jesus!). Nice teacher, sarcastic, but helps you! Powerpoints STUDY them.
I took Prof. Henricks for CHEM 1151. He is an excellent professor and he really knows what he's talking about. No homework or quizzes. 5 tests and a final. Lowest test dropped. He doesn't take attendance, but GO TO CLASS. It will help SO much. He puts power points online but in class gives practice problems that help you really understand.
He is by far the best chemistry teacher at Kennesaw! Although the content is a little heavy if you do your part you can definitely pass. He makes his lectures and tests very straight forward.
Great professor. I had him for Chem1151 and as long as you go to class you wouldnt even have to study. If you miss however, I suggest to look at his powerpoints. The tests are incredibly easy and he helps out a lot. Your lowest test score is usually dropped or replaced with the highest test score. This makes it so easy to receive an A
4 tests. 1 dropped. and a final. Don't ask questions unless you want to get roasted. He's pretty rude. You can tell this dude has been teaching forever, he's old fashioned. Nonetheless, you can get an A. Use your SI.
He actually taught concepts rather than just reading off of the power point. He also curves tests.
Super easy class, never had to study and made a high A
You are only graded by 5/6 tests but Prof. Henricks makes chem real easy. You do not have to go to class but it is in your best interest to go because although he puts all his PowerPoint's on D2L, he gives lots of practice in class for our benefit. I would only say, don't go if you can teach yourself based off the PowerPoint's.
TAKE HIM !! Hes very clear in his lectures and makes sure you understand the information and does lots of practice problems in class. The test are very straight forward if you go to class and attend the S.I sessions.
There are 5 tests and that's it in the gradebook so you have to do well on them. However, he drops the lowest one. Go to the SI sessions if you really want to get an A as they are very helpful. I hated chemistry in highschool and was so nervous about this class but ended with an A. Take him!
I'd highly recommend Prof. Henricks! You are graded on five tests with the lowest score dropped. He is an excellent professor with interesting lectures that don't involve just reading the power point slide. Class isn't mandatory, but he covers a lot of helpful practice problems that aren't on the ppt.
My favorite science teacher by far! He teaches the material very well but the tests are really hard. As long as you do not miss any classes and do not zone out during class you will be fine! There is no homework and the book is not needed.
He gives a ton of examples, so its not hard to learn the material. He made chemistry way easier than I thought it would be. I havent made below an A on any tests, and Im not really that great in science in general. However, go to the SI sessions, because they helped a lot.
All in all, a great teacher. Actually teaches the material and will relate it to your labs. Provides lots of examples that will really help when doing the tests. Tests are multiple choice and problem solving. Intimidating at first but stick with him! If you put in effort (study!!), you will totally pass. Also, GO TO S.I SESSIONS! They really help!
I really recommend him! Chemistry is a hard subject but he makes it easier. He does not read straight from the board. Its 5 test and one final, he drops your lowest grade and he curve some of the test. You dont really need a textbook.
He is a great chemistry teacher! He knows his stuffs very well and all his tests are directly from his lectures. Just practice the problems he did in class and you should be FINE. He knows his boundaries and is funny (which is an added bonus). He doesnt take attendance but you really should show up to understand the material. Do not buy textbook.
He was the BEST professor i have EVER had. Seriously, i thank him for being so attentive and keeping the class interesting with his jokes. wonderful man
Professor Henricks has a great sense of humor and makes chem seem not so bad. You dont need the textbook at all. There is only 5 tests with the lowest dropped. Study and show up to class and youll pass!
He is actually kinda rude and makes you feel stupid when asking questions but other than that he teaches the concepts very well and provides an SI leader who is there to help you study. Youre graded on 5/6 tests and he curves them. You have to practice the problems to pass the tests but once you get the hang of them they arent hard.
He is probably the best chemistry professor to take at KSU. He gives out 5 tests, the first test is memorization of 50 elements (easy A), and he also drops your lowest test grade. I would suggest going to the SI study sessions and asking as many questions as possible during the lecture. I think he is, overall, a good choice.
Henricks is a great chem professor. You definitely have to put in work outside of class, and SI really helps. The tests can be time consuming, but once you get the concepts, it gets easier. There is no homework and no attendance policy. It's all up to you. He uses sarcasm frequently, so if you're sensitive don't take him. Otherwise, the best prof.
If you don't go to class you WILL NOT PASS ! He lectures from start to finish and sometimes what he says is in the tests but not in the notes, so listen ! He was extremely funny and I would take him all over again if I could, it's only 5 tests and no homework or other graded work and they aren't that spread out so study hard and you'll pass !
ABSOLUTELY love him. I went into Chem1151 after dropping out of it first semester bc I had a horrible teacher. He is the best at explaining and gives many examples during class. I would recommend you go to class bc of the examples and walk through of problems. My SI was super helpful as well but henricks rocked.
Love him! Gives you practice in class which helps SO MUCH. Gives you plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Only 5 tests and a final. Lowest test dropped. Go to SI
Henricks is a fun guy but an intimidating teacher. He wants people to ask questions but can kind of come off as rude when answering them. Five tests with the best four getting graded and then the final. Other then that no other grades so studying for the tests is crucial. SI sessions help so GO!! Class is optional but not if you wanna pass.
He is a pretty solid choice if you want a good grade in Chem.
Great professor! 6 tests including the final. drops the lowest test, but not the final. Gives lots of practice problems! I printed the ppts, went to class, SI and studied and did just fine. You will have to study, and go to class! Don't buy the book. I was scared to take chem, but he made it easy, wish he taught 1152! He's also really funny
Take him for Chem 1151! 6 tests, including the final with the lowest one dropped so you are only graded on 5. Although I've always loved chem, it's never been easy & I ended the class with an A . He can come off as intimidating, but don't let that detour you. GO TO SI SESSIONS because they help a ton, trust me! Work hard and you'll do fine.
Honestly, you will learn a lot. He explains things well, but he's not nice at all. I was afraid to ask questions because he will often make you feel stupid for asking or mock you. He thinks he's being funny by being sarcastic. So, if you have thick skin, take him. Otherwise, find another professor.
Henricks is probably your best bet if you want a good grade in chem. Very sarcastic and funny and teaches the material very well. Soooo many examples but thats how I learn best so I didnt mind. 5 tests and a final but he drops 1 so 4 tests. I didnt go to SI but if you struggle, then Id recommend it. Overall, a great teacher!!
I would DEFINITELY recommend to anyone taking chem 1151! His powerpoints are easy to read/take notes/understand. He provides creative ways to help you memorize important things. Textbook isnt required, but it did help me. He can be sarcastic, but who cares? He definitely means well. All of his tests are straightforward and he grades VERY quickly!
Prof. Henricks is a super great guy! This class consists of 5 exams and the final exam. I made a C in high school chem, so I was super nervous about how I would do in this course, but I did much better than I expected because Prof. Henricks gives the dumbed down version of everything, making it so much easier to understand! He is the best!
Chemistry is a very difficult subject for me in general, however, he made it doable for me. There are only 6 tests in the class, but you get to drop one. If you want to do well, you do need to study a lot. Also, he is very humorous!
Love this professor!! Such a great teacher and doesn't waste your time teaching things we don't need to know... or things that are "above our pay grade", as he would say. Grades your best 4 tests and there's a final exam. He makes his tests. If you study and put the work in, you'll get an A. Go to class! Do NOT buy the textbook. Haven't opened it.
Henricks is a good professor. He moved through material quickly, but he gives lots of practice problems and SI is helpful. 5 tests, lowest is dropped, and a final. The textbook is helpful and has some really good practice problems, but isn't really needed. Highly recommend!
Henricks knows what hes doing but he is aggressive, doesnt care much about your feelings, and isnt the clearest lecturer. Luckily I had an SI so she helped tons with stuff that he didnt make clear but he essentially expects u to just be good at this class
very sarcastic personality. 5 test and final exam. lowest test grade is dropped. Reads off PowerPoints but works out practice problems with you during class, ask a question and you will get a sarcastic answer but that's a hit or miss. SI sessions are a MUST. DO NOT WALK IN FRONT THE CLASS ONCE CLASS STARTS!! remember your assigned test #
Professor Henricks was my favorite professor last semester! He is hilarious but also cares that you understand what he is teaching. He is very sarcastic and can be misinterpreted as being rude. He is very PowerPoint heavy, but he gives you so many practice problems, it's hard to fail his tests.
Henricks is THE BEST professor at KSU! I would take him again. He is wonderful, allows plenty of time for tests, and lectures aren't boring. Henricks is so funny and keeps chemistry easy to understand. He is the best. Easy tests, no mandatory attendance or book, nice guy, easy to understand material. He taught high school so everything is that easy
His lectures are easy to understand, he is kinda rude but I didn't really care as long as I could understand the material. 5 tests drops lowest+ final
For Chem1151 lecture, he's your ONLY solid choice - the other profs teaching this course are so much worse than him, esp in conveying info. However, I HATE his attitude. He is condescending, rude, and is overall a jerk. He is not understanding. He doesn't care if you do well, and he makes it clear that he doesn't have to. Least likable personality.
Professor Henricks is 10/10 all around. He knows chemistry very well and he makes learning It very easy! You wont regret taking him for chem1151. I feel as though if we wouldnt have been displaced b/c of COIVD-19, I would have gotten an A because he makes understanding chemistry a breeze. Pay attention & attend S.I. sessions and you will do well!
He is awesome! He makes chemistry really easy to understand. As long as you go to lectures and pay attention, you'll be good!
this professor made me meet my soulmate 10/10 recommend this class
I took his class in the fall of 2020 and it was super easy. I ended up meeting my soulmate in his class as well which is bonus points for him
Retook Chem1151 after a bad experience w/ another prof. Can't recommend him enough. This class is hard, no question about it. But he is great at explaining things in a way that really helps you understand it. If you need this class, take him!
Professor Henricks is an amazing chem teacher!! Take him.. You won't be disappointed!
Professor Henricks was a fantastic chemistry teacher. He made every concept easy to understand, and for one unit he even made up his own formula for his students to use instead of the usual long and complicated way of solving the problem. He was funny during his lectures, too, and would answer any questions you have.
Hendricks was okay. He moves quickly through lectures, which can make it difficult to follow through. The first two units are pretty understandable, but the 3rd and 4th are pretty difficult! Probably your best choice for chemistry professors. Also, hes not rude. Hes just sarcastic and doesnt like to repeat himself over and over. Hope I helped!
Professor Henricks wasnt hard in my opinion. Were graded on 4 test, 8 cumulative quizzes that you can use to replace ur lowest test grade, and the final. I think that as long as you keep up with the lectures youll do great! Also his SI helped tremendously, so go to the sessions!!
For CHEM 1151 he is really your only good option. I took this class completely online and you can view his lectures at anytime, you dont have to attend them live. His lectures are very clear and easy to understand and he does like 10 practice problems for each concept so theres no need to have homework. For such a hard subject prof made it easy
In this class we had 4 tests and quite a bit of quizzes. He averages up your quizzes to replace your lowest test score. For me taking his class online was very hard. If youre good at chem this class wont be too bad for you. Also just a heads up he uses lock down browser.
Henricks is an AWESOME professor! If you are taking chem, definitely take him. Chem is a hard class but he explains everything so well. He used to teach high school so he has lots of little tricks to help you. He has tons of extra practice problems & he curves every test. 4 tests and 1 final. Tests are very fair.
Mr. Henricks is the most caring person I have ever encountered and he is an amazing teacher and makes chemistry easy to understand. There are only 4 tests and 8 quizzes and he averages the 8 quizzes to replace a test if you take them all. Take him if you have the opportunity. Best class ever.
Professor Henricks is extremely rude and harsh. If you have questions about certain material. He is NOT the person to ask. The Si's in this class are amazing and are really the only thing that made me pass. His tests can be really difficult so you really need to know the curriculum inside out or you will 100% fail.
Prof. Hendricks is the best Chem 1151 prof. at KSU. He explains in ways that are so easy to understand and is always offering help to his students. There are 4 exams, 8 quizzes which are not mandatory, but are averaged to replace your lowest test grade if you do them which ultimately helped me get an A in his class! & a final exam!
Good professor, this semester the course was taught online due to COVID-19. 8 quizzes that werent mandatory but if you took them the average could replace you lowest test grade, 4 tests (just like the lectures), attend SI sessions if needed
Professor Henricks is a very caring professor and he will help you as much as you need! He is a very great teacher with clear, and to-the-point lectures. Tests & Quizzes are easy to pass if you pay attention!
Prof. Henricks was a nice man. At first he may seem rude, but thats not his intention. Its just how he talks. He was willing to answer any question, even if you asked 20 questions previously during the same session. The quizzes and the tests werent too bad for the most part. If you study and understand everything, this class will not be too bad.
Graded by 4 tests and a final. If you take all 8 quizzes, they replace the lowest test grade. Extra credit is given on tests, if he makes a mistake. Quizzes usually have 4-5 questions. He never tests or quizzes material he doesnt go over. Go to class, takes notes, ask questions, attend SI sessions, and dont buy the textbook. Best chem class !
He's a great teacher! He mostly taught by powerpoints & he took the time to give plenty examples and explain to the best of his ability. It was kinda tough memorizing stuff for tests, but the content wasn't too difficult if you understood what you're doing. Personally my only struggle was answering conceptual questions. Go to SI sessions & study!
wow, i took chemistry in high school and expected the class to harder but, thankfully that wasn't the case. hendricks was an amazing teacher and taught mainly through powerpoints. he gave many examples and went over material at the end of the session for those who were confused during the lecture. his tests were also very easy but please study!!!
Prof. Henricks is GREAT! He is very clear to follow and will explain things again for you. Gives lots of practice problems and uploads old tests/quizzes for even more practice. Definitely made the concepts clear and was a very nice teacher. I took notes and did light studying. Ended with a high A+. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Henricks was an AMAZING professor, he was one of the best professors I've had so far at ksu. Some people thought he would come off a little rude, but he just likes to get through the lecture. Test were straight foward regarding each lecture, he never tried to trick anyone in tests. He was also very sweet and funny I enjoyed his class very much!
Professor Henricks is such a caring professor. He takes the time to answer everyone's questions and is very accessible for office hours. He gives lots of practice in lectures and explains topics very well. The tests were all off of his lecture slides and he gave extra credit most tests.
Peter Henricks was a great professor despite the challenges of going virtual due to Covid. Hes funny and kind of dorky in the best way possible. Powerpoints in the lecture are concise. Crucial to work out examples to ensure you understand the topic. Homework is only recommended. Remember your significant figures!!!
This is a difficult class. Perhaps he would have been better in person, I could not say, but I wouldn't recommend him based on my experience. He was nice and answered questions but the lectures were so dense it was hard to take it all in. I did study and work hard and I still did not do well.
Don't recommend! He rarely answers questions in a clear way, yelled at us during his office hours, mumbles to the camera as he writes out the problems rather than actually teaching us. He also makes you feel so dumb when you ask a question. Only grades are on the 4 tests, so heavily weighted. To be fair, it was an online class, but still awful! :(
He is a great professor and teaches the material well. Attendance wasnt required as he records all the lectures but make sure you watch them as you can get very behind if you dont. He grades off of 4 test that are challenging but he does curve. There are about 10 quizzes that arent required but if you do them ALL youll get extra credit.
4 tests, 1 final. There are 8 optional quizzes. If you take all of them the avg can replace the lowest test score. He curves VERY generously, depending on the class avg, the curves can be 14pts. Pretty straightforward with his criteria and will answer all questions. The textbook is really not needed for this class. Just do the practice problems.
He is a very smart guy, but acts like you know or remember everything from high school. There are only 4 tests and 10 optional quizzes that can be done to get extra credit at the end of the semester. He doesn't engage with the students well. Like I said very smart guy, just not the best teacher to take.
Henricks is honestly doing his best for this as an online class. it is definitely difficult, but it isn't his fault per-say. There are 4 tests and a final exam and those are the only grades, so be sure to study and do some practice outside of his lectures. He is a great guy, though, and has good, simple lectures
only graded on 4 tests. theres 8 optional 5 question quizzes to take take. if the average of them all is higher than your lowest test grade, he bumps lowest test grade. he would probs be much better in person, the online lectures were not good. I felt so lost the whole semester. he curves tests by alot of points (10-14 for our class)
Only 4 unit tests and final exam, lockdown browser + webcam for all and had 8 OPTIONAL quizzes you could take as extra credit but only granted if all eight of the quizzes were taken. No textbook was ever used. Periodic table was given for each quiz/ exam. Join the SI sessions, study his powerpoint slides, practice and you will pass.
If you are a nursing major, take his class! Although I purchased the chem book, we didn't really use it. His teaching style is direct, no fluff and answers every question completely, so there's no confusion. The test material was always what we learned in lectures. He curves every test and will replace your lowest test score with the highest quiz.
Great person and teacher. His powerpoints were straight up and he provided many example problems to help us. He only grades by the tests but you could replace it if you did 8 quizzes. He curved a lot and was very helpful. Loved his class. DONT BUY THE TEXTBOOK, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Highly recommend Prof Henricks
He is very laid back but definitely a good teacher. If science is not your forte then you might struggle a bit because his lectures are a lot of practice problems. He also struggles a lot with technology so in person is the best way to communicate. Provides a ton of review material for tests though, so take advantage of that.
Absolute garbage. Better know how to teach yourself. Doesnt give you enough time on tests. His question he ask is any issues yeah of course theres issue cause we never learned this, dude. Yet he wont show you how to work the problems. Just expects you to try first and thats not how you teach. This dude needs to get it together or give it up.
His class is okay, but he doesn't really show how to do problems. I know personally I need to be shown how to do things several times. He puts a problem on the board and says okay do it without showing how it's done. Not a very big fan of his teaching style. Also his tests are VERY hard. Be ready to study your butt off.
Hes a nice dude. Test could be difficult if you dont prepare well. He goes over stuff pretty fast so it can be hard to keep up, but if you spend time practicing you will pass. I currently have a 98 and we are only graded by tests. 5 test w a final. Element test is easy 100.
10/10 wouldnt recommend unless you can put all attention/time into this class. Its extremely lecture heavy, and is only graded by four tests and one final exam which are all LockDown. He goes through his PPTs and just expects you to know everything before explaining it. Not to mention hes really sarcastic when you ask a simple question.
He only grades the exams. He is very good at answering questions. As long as you pay attention in the class you will be fine. His humor helps make the class fun.
the material wasnt too difficult and he gave ample examples. if you took all of the optional quizzes he would use the quiz average and substitute it for your lowest test. 4 tests total.
While it was an online class, he did not explain the problems well, and was often rude or sarcastic when students asked questions. He did not give long enough for exams and was not a very understanding professor. He would sometimes yell or get frustrated by students who asked genuine questions. I worked so hard, but still struggled to get a B.
I took Henricks and on the element test, I made an A. The first unit test, I bombed. The second test, I had technical difficulties due to my webcam breaking during the test, I emailed him immediately after telling the circumstances. He was not understanding at ALL. I even had a panic attack and he was aware of this. Do not take him. He is horrible.
took him bc he had the best rating but he was horrible. only 4 tests and a final in addition to an elements quiz. never showed how to do the problems. as a visual learner, it would've been helpful to see it. someone asked a question he would say we should already know or be reluctant to answer. no quizzes for in-person was probably an online thing.
The SI sessions taught me more than him but his tests are so tricky for no reason and he takes pride in having trick questions. all lockdown with webcam.
Go to classes and SI sessions!! We had no hw or quizzes and were graded on 4 tests and the final. He curves a lot and drops the lowest test grade. He always showed how to do practice problems so I don't know why people are saying he didn't. He is very sarcastic, but he never means it. As long as you put in the effort you'll pass!!
He really funny guy. Attendance isn't for a grade but you have to attend the lectures to understand any information. He is a really good teacher, actually goes over the material and gives a lot of practice problems. He even gives you access to old test from previous years for you to study for test. I recommend attending the SI sessions for practice
only graded by 5 tests and a final. kinda rude but he's funny. he curves all the test. this class is not easy and you kind of have to teach yourself but there's a TA for the class so going to the SI sessions really helps.
I LOVE PROFESSOR HENRICKS!!! He's seriously the best. He's such a funny guy and made going to class enjoyable. His class didn't have any homework or quizzes. Just 4 exams and a final. He curves pretty heavily. I totally recommend his class :)
it says a lot about a professor when each test has to be curved 10+ points. incredibly smart but cannot teach others.
Chemistry is a very hard class to begin with. With this professor, he makes it a lot easier. He teaches us the material and then gives us review questions so we can figure out the material. There are four exams, an elements test, and a final exam. As long as you study and go to the SI sessions, you should do fine. Besides, he really curves exams.
In general Chemistry is hard but the reason I did good in his class because I attending his lecture and learn the material on my own time in order so I know what is going on in that class. Curve heavy on test bc the only grade you have is 5 tests ( one element test and 4 other units test) and a Final exam. good luck :)
Professor hendricks is the best chemistry professor for 1151, we only had 4 tests and one final, he replaces your lowest test grade with your first test which is an elements quiz. overall everything is very straight forward, he has practice tests for each unit, these help. DON'T miss a lecture because you will be lost.
His teaching style is a little different and I was concerned at the beginning of the semester, but I learned so much. Class isn't mandatory, but you need to go to understand what is going on. If you miss one class you'll definitely be lost. He's very helpful and will explain things so you can understand. He also curves the tests which was nice!
Don't let the negative reviews scare you away. He gives a variety of examples on how to do each problem in class and people who say he's sarcastic don't understand how humor works. He gives lots of resources for studying. The tests only cover his lectures which are straightforward. (meaning you don't have to learn everything in the TB) TAKE HIM.
Professor Henricks is by far the prof you need to take when it comes to Chem 1151. He goes at a fast pace, but don't be afraid to ask questions. Some people have a negative POV of him, because they didn't put in the work required for the course. If you took a chem class in Highschool, this class should be fairly easy.
Professor Henricks is honestly amazing at what he does. I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews. He gives you so many examples to work through in class and gives you a plethora of study materials. As long as you take the time to study and apply yourself, you shouldn't have any problems in this class!
sometimes you will need to ask him to clarify things. The textbook is not needed for this class. study his PowerPoints, do practice problems he's provided on D2L, and go to SI sessions (if your class has one). Graded on 4 tests and a final. he has 8 quizzes and if you take all 8 he will average it and replace it with your lowest test score.
Professor Henricks made chemistry understandable. Attend every class and go to the SI sessions. Most people who complain about him don't put in the work. He provides practice problems as well as practice tests. Prepare to spend hours studying to achieve an A.
He is a good professor but he goes though things a bit to fast. He does quizzes but you don't have to do them but you should anyways! Your grade is based on 4 test and the final exam. He has practice problems/test on d2l to study. Just study, go to si sessions if you can, ask questions, look over notes and practice! good luck! you can do it!
Makes things simple for achievable A. Heavily based on math aspect which a lot of students have a hard time with, but once you get it, you got it. Don't expect to learn all the concepts base in chem, he goes over briefly and the rest of the time is spent practicing equations, conversions, and algebra. Practice his ppt for test, curves all of them.
You can get an A if you study. Do not buy the textbook. This class is heavy in math, not concepts. 4 tests and a final. Curve heavily on all the tests (up to 12 points), except the final. If you take all 8 quizzes it will replace the lowest test grade. My exam grades (104, 73, 72, 100) final 98.67, still pass the class with an A. Don't skip class.
This class can be challenging at times, as it is very math heavy. But if you go to each lecture and practice you will be fine, do not buy the textbook just do practices problems he has posted on D2L. He has 5 tests that are graded for the semester. Definitely very funny.
Out of all of the chem 1151 professors he is probably your best bet. There isnt a lot of great professors to choose from in the first place. The class is extremely lecture and math heavy. Attendance isnt required but if you do miss a day you will be completely lost. Only 4 tests and a final if you mess up on the tests its hard to get your grade up
He is not a bad professor. There are 4 tests and 8 optional quizzes that average together to replace the lowest test grade. Tests have many trick questions, there is also no study guide or many practice problems to go over. No homework. He's somewhat easy to contact. He'll make you feel dumb for asking a question, and is very sarcastic.
If you want to learn chemistry, take a different professor. His class is a game that he has constructed. If you'd prefer to play his games rather than learn chemistry, you'll be okay.
He's an amazing teacher 100% would take again!!!
beware this professor. lots of people say to take his class but i would not again. i pride myself as an all A student and this class has totally changed it. he is not very good at grammar so his tests can have a lot of trick questions in it. his powerpoints are straight forward but his tests aren't.
If you want to pass chemistry DO NOT TAKE IT WITH HIM. he's never willing to work things out with you. he likes to mimic students if he doesn't hear them clearly, then say its just his humor. if you have a question he'll answer it sarcastically, or response with another question to make you sound dumb, and make you doubt yourself. just don't do it.
His class was already difficult, being a chem class, but having him as a teacher just made it even harder. He is very sarcastic and makes students feel dumb when they are confused or ask questions. The only reason I got a B in this class was rigorous studying and using chegg to get explanations of problems. The grade is 4 tests and a final.
Sarcastic professor. He curves tests pretty well. YOU MUST attend class to understand the material. Math heavy and reading powerpoints are not enough. I strongly recommend going to the student instructor tutoring provided. Warning: don't walk in front of class if late, he will yell at you in front of everyone. Go AROUND the class to take a seat.
I LOVED his class! He gives "reading checks" every week but they're super easy and help boost your grade. Homework assignment on ALEKS every week which you should always be able to get a 100 on. His tests are typically 30 multiple-choice questions, and he curves them pretty well (I never made below an A). Just show up to class and study!!
worst professor I have taken in my entire life. Take anyone else BUT him. He degrades if u ask questions. There are 4 tests+final that will determine ur grade. Makes chemistry out to be more complicated than it is. Dont care bout his students or the feedback we give him instead gets mad.reads off a Ppt he hates his job.
The lab is very easy and straightforward. As long as you do everything you are supposed to do, you should not have a problem getting a good grade.
He is an average dude but for the love of god please do not interrupt his lectures for any reason! He is a pretty tough grader and the work can be a lot sometimes. Get ready to read and study for sure and just try your best to space out the assignments and give yourself enough time to complete everything cause it is very time consuming.
Tough professor, but engaging lecture style. Attend class, use the free textbook, and try unstuckstudy ai - it really helped me ace the tests. Workload is heavy, but the curves make it manageable. Not for the faint of heart, but a rewarding class.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE POSITIVE REVIEWS. i don't know how this professor has so many good reviews, he's extremely sassy and rude and it makes the whole class too uncomfortable to ask questions. his teaching style is very sloppy and rushed and assigns work over things he barely taught. you can find better chem professors here, trust me.
God, I don't even know where to begin. He's HORRIBLE. Each exam is worth 40% of your grade. You could get nothing but A's in everything else but one slip up on 1 exam and you're done for. Not to mention he's incredibly rude, easily irritated, and doesn't make a comfortable class environment. He'll literally yell at you in front of everyone. -100/10
I know people are capable of change and Professor Henricks has proven that-- he changed for the worse. I could go on about his ability to be curt and unwilling to help, but the thing that bothered me the most was how easily offended he is. He got visibly abrasive with a male student for having a pink calculator?? Very unprofessional. 0/10 stars
this man lacks any form of empathy and sympathy towards his students. do not take this class if you want to preserve your mental health.
he's genuinely the rudest professor i've ever encountered in my entire life. doesn't care if you're struggling in the class. please listen to the 1 star reviews, they'll spare you from this difficult man.
I hated him
HE IS THE BEST! Take him. The class is made to where you can't fail if you just study. He is also very sarcastic and funny... the students who are complaining he is rude may just not like the jokes. He was incredible!!!!! Would take him for every class at KSU in nursing if i could.
he was really good i loved him, of course at the beginning of the semester things are iffy but if you put in the effort and aren't afraid to ask questions you should be good !! he is sarcastic and will be passive aggressive at times but he is old so, its up to you but please don't be mean, hes someone's grandpa and loved one
He was okay. He goes over the lesson really fast sometimes it's hard to catch up if you get lost. He says ask questions but then makes you feel dumb about it. Not really a lot of stuff graded: Aleks, 4 test, poll everywhere, mini quizzes. No extra given SI sessions help. No cheatsheets for all the formulas.
This class is so fast-paced, and there is so much content all at once. It's definitely a passable class, but you will have to work a little extra hard and show up to class. He's an average professor. There are no reference sheets on the test, only a periodic table, so know your conversions and equations.
If you do not perform well on exams, do not take this course. There are 4 plus the final, and there is no curve, plus no options for extra credit other than an extra 2% from going to the SI Sessions.
Very difficult and not very understanding.
