This is a fun class. Just show up for classes and you made it. The tests are easy and short. Homework is doing the chapter test, and it is due by the day of the test.

I found Pete to be a good teacher. It was easy coming right out of HS for a summer class. Pay attention and take notes and you're good to go. Study the chap tests for the final.

Pete is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is very understanding and the fact that he gives you the chance to work out the problems that you missed from the test, is very helpful because you get to find your errors and get some extra credit.Listening to his stories makes everything easier. Mr. Herrera is one of those rare professor that actually likes his job. He is very helpful, very clear. I took Math 45 during the summer and passed it in 6 weeks. I am not a math person. He is so awesome and funny. Really cares about his students. Would HIGHLY recommend. Stay away from Mr. Cellili, he is absolutely the worst

Mr. Herrera makes rules logical. He breaks it down and doesn't just say, "it's a rule." I would highly recommend Mr. Herrera. He likes what he does and is serious. He is there to teach and help you understand, not just to write numbers on the board. Great Job Pete!!

Pete is an excellent teacher. He is understanding, helpful, easy, and funny. Just be sure to take notes and do the HW and review tests and you'll pass the class. He gives extra credit, and allows you to make up points on tests by re-doing the problems. I highly reccomend taking Pete's class. (He's a great story teller too!)

Keeps it real, teaches you what you need to know for the final and constantly asks if there are any questions even if the class looks dead that day. Had a great time; i would take him again. Highly recommended.

One of the clearest math professors I have had. No surprises, gives extra credit that actually makes you learn the material you missed on the exam. Doesn't take any crap in his class as he is ex-military. Felt prepared for Math 250 after taking him.

No quizzes and no homework, just if you want extra credit. lets you drop the lowest test score, and lets you improve your test score if you did extra credit by doing the ones you got wrong on the test over

he goes by pete, he looks like al from toy story 2, and overall, he's a really good teacher. he literally goes over each step for each problem. he tells random stories that are very sarcastic. i dont believe any of the stories he tells us. but take his class. you'll be entertained and you'll learn. if you already know the material, its good review.

Pete is a great teacher and knows his stuff. He'll have you laughing most of the time if not all the time ha ha. Exams are pretty straight forward and no surprises. They come from the chapter tests and he even tells you what will be on it so you can study and be prepared. Strongly recommended. :]

244 class during the summer. Lots of work, but Pete made it as painless as possible. No HW other than test corrections and Chapter Tests. Good lectures, easy to follow. Cracked jokes here and there to lighten mood. Tests were sometimes a bit long and involved, but not unreasonably difficult. I would definitely recommend him for precal/trig.

This teacher is Godsent. He is the perfect description of what an outstanding teacher should be. In addition, his personality is magnificent and he will make you laugh hysterically. He will explain everything thoroughly. You will actually LEARN! I'm devastated because he's not teaching my next math class :( TAKE HIM!

Well I just gotta say that It was a class that I enjoyed studying. It was a lot of hours but he still managed to keep it simple and easy going. We did work a lot and kind of went fast with the chapters, but he made it look easy. Would definitely recommend you take his class. Be aware of the Arnold Scharzesomething.... (governator's) impersonation.

Class is actually easy. He likes to goof around sometimes and imitate Arnold Schwarzenegger and also Matt Damon, but overall he is a good teacher. You actually learn in his class and he makes it seem easy. He goes over the problems step by step. You don't need to by the textbook he uses MathXL online. Only $30 compared to like $70 for the book

You dont need the textbook but you need mathxl, he is very very funny (i find some of his jokes and stories funny)also i think some of the stories he tells are made up but they're still funny. pete is really easy to understand you have a test almost every 3 weeks but they are so easy if you go to tutoring you get extra credit and he makes you go only if you had a bad grade on the test... he is fun and flexible.. he understands you if your having a hard time in your family.... i dont mind his jokes he makes math fun!!! This is my first college math class and after being scared and not sure what to expect, i luckily stumpled across Pete's class ( he doesnt like being called Mr Herrera). He's a pretty cool prof. He's very strict with the attendance so watch out. Pretty much he explains what you need to know on the board and then you do hw via math xl and then exams. Hw is always harder than the exam, and exams are harder than the final. He also gives extra credit, very good!!!!!

Great professor, schedule, hw and lecture is clear. His lectures are helpful to the point where I never needed to look at the book or go to tutoring. He is not intimidating to talk to and walks you through the answer to your questions. Overall he was helpful and funny enough to take 3 semesters.

This dudes cool. He's got a detailed method of teaching that makes it easier to learn by seeing all of the steps in solving the equation. If you pay attention & do your homework, you will do well on the tests,and you will get a good grade. Also,he keeps it interesting with his stories and humor,very funny dude and teaches well.

It's true that this guy is sometimes late to class himself and he likes to tell jokes, but other than that he knows how to teach. You don't need a textbook, because it is available online on WebAssign which is also uses for homework. He encourages his students to get tutoring assistance, and also offers extra credit when you do poorly on the test.

Took this class last fall and loved it! He gives lots of extra credit and is not boring. I took the fast track course and passed with a high "B"!

He is a really good teacher and you can see that he actually know what he is doing. He makes the class fun by telling jokes soemtimes, yet when is time to work he focus. However, you MUST DO YOUR HOMEWORK because he takes your lowest test and replace it with your homework score. His test are based on the notes =)

He talks about respecting him and his time, yet is consistently late for class or from break. If this were a drinking game I'd be dead. Took him for 244. It's a strenuous course, because it's 101 and 104 mashed into one class, and now we have a shortened calendar. Do the homework, study for the exams, and attend class, and you'll do fine. Treat this course like a real, college course or you will not pass. His instructions are very clear.

Math and I have NEVER gotten along. But Pete really makes an effort to make sure you understand. He's a fantastic math teacher because he cares. Homework is online and is mandatory to pass. There's a test for just about every chapter. But he does give partial credit. I'm grateful to Pete.

I enjoyed his class over the summer, although it was more work than usual since it was a short span of time. He pretty much lectures everyday on new material, but he loves doing what he does and he makes sure that the class understands the material. Also, the hard part of the class was listening to him make jokes.

Despite being mean and having a big ego Pete is a good teacher. His class is simple & effective we are graded on exams & hw & final. Although he puts down students when they ask questions(Sometimes they ask for it), jokes a lot, and goes way too fast at times I would take him again. For the most part he knows how to teach pretty good.

Pete was a good teacher and he was clear and direct in what he expected you to do. Just do the homework and keep up in lectures and you should be fine. The only personal problem I had with him is that he told too many stories and said some problematic things lol. If you don't get offended by political talks or anything, then you should be fine.

Pete was a great teacher who taught A LOT of shortcuts that saves a lot of time when taking the exams because they are all fill in , no multiple choice (except the final) But he really pushes you to try your hardest which really helped me because I wasn't the biggest fan of math. Fun teacher, urges you to ask questions and tries his best to help you pass the class. Informative and patient, I didn't see the tyrant some of these reviews try to portray. You need to put in the time to pass outside of just going to class; he will not hold your hand. You'll deserve the grade that you got. Only issue was the mandatory attendance.

A lot of positive things to say about Pete. If you're a hard worker and care about your grade, take his class. He is very clear about what he wants from you, gives you the opportunity to work out your mental cob-webs in class, and is pretty direct. Seriously. Not many professors out there like him. If you're mature and ready to work, take him.

The tests' have problems similar to what you see in the HW and in class. Go to class because you WILL miss something important. The material is hard at first but becomes easier. HE wants to interact with the class. Gives you enough time to do the HW and study. Is available after class. The HW has a min of 50+ problems. Teaches you whats needed.

Pete was a great professor and made math bearable for me ! I first took his math 45 class about 5 years ago, and now that I am going back to school and switched majors that involves math, there is no doubt that I will chose his upper level classes.

Love this dude. In my opinion, he is easy to understand and very open to all questions (no matter how dumb you might think it is). As long as you're doing the online assignments and actually STUDY THE QUESTIONS you'll pass.

Homework is minimal, and this class is definitely only 3 credits. Calculus isn't easy so don't expect it to be. This professor is entertaining and still teaches well. Study the 2 before & the 2 after on class problems and you'll pass the test. Most questions are pulled straight from the textbook, but most people fail to study these!

He doesn't give quizzes but his HWs are short compared to other professors I've had. His test questions are specifically from the HW just some numbers changed and things like that. Always available to ask questions, very funny.

I consider Pete to be a mentor and he has been my favorite professor by far. I have taken him for any math class he has available and always left feeling like I had genuinely learned the content. He's a huge nerd and could talk about it indefinitely. He will also try to convert you to a math major.

Pete was a great professor, with the transition online due to the health crisis, Pete really made himself available to his students beyond what was expected or required. He kept us informed and on track. Gives a reasonable amount of homework, anywhere from 55-70 questions with a week to work on them, code is expensive though. Highly recommend.

Pete is a good teacher. If you don't get it, then ask questions, he helps too. Yes, we have a lot of homework but keep up with it and it's no biggie. Since tests are online, he'll also grade them on hand to give any point MyMath Lab missed. Sometimes late, but who cares. Yes, makes bad jokes but I think it's funny. Also has good lectures.

Pete isn't just a professor doing his job. He is everyone's friend who does everything he can to make sure his students succeed. He'll even give you thoughtful advice on not just the class, but also on your life and career choices. Taking two of his classes will forever be a highlight of my college career even if he doesn't like Final Fantasy.

Pete is easily one of the best professors I've ever had. Surely, MATH250 is not an easy class, but he makes it entertaining and explains the concepts in a way that actually makes sense. As someone who took Pete's twice, hating him the first time, understanding what I did wrong the second, I can say with certainty Pete has been a great teacher, he gives his time after class to help other students, encourages others to ask questions, and is a chill guy. You just need to understand that learning starts in class and ends with you.

Easily, one of the best professors I have had so far. He is very engaging with his lectures and he is very visual which helps a lot for many. STAY ON TOP OF HOMEWORK. Super cool teacher, this was my 3rd attempt at calc and this professor totally gave me all I needed to pass the course. Definitely could have achieved a higher grade, but thats my fault not the professors'. Would definitely recommend.

Very cool teacher, make sure you get an understanding of his class. Participation is key. Asking questions is also key. Probably my favorite class.

I could never thank Pete enough for his unwavering fairness and belief in me, having always struggled in math classes before, Pete changed the way I approached math for the better. Behind that bellowing voice and playful yet studious demeanor is one of the kindest hearts you'll ever know, Petes the kind of teacher you tell your kids about one day.

This is a professor that cares a lot about his students as people. If you need any help or any advice with anything you can feel free to ask him and he'll find the time outside of class to help you as much as he can. Make sure you do the homework since the exam questions are similar to them. I got a C+ but that was more my fault. You can get an A.

Having taken Petes 244 class, I already knew to expect a great teacher but I was still doubting if I could achieve an 'A' taking calc 1 during a summer session, but to my surprise math 250 with Pete was even easier to understand than precalc, which I believe is a testament to the fact that Pete will strive for your success as much as yourself

I've gone to 3 different colleges and technically have 97 credits and I have never, ever had a teacher as wholesome as Pete. Pete really does care for his students. He's a great teacher who will answer any question you have especially outside of class. He teaches the material well and takes off your worst test grade. I don't know what better combo

He is a funny professor, but can get very serious sometimes. The lectures were kind of rushed by the end of the semester though. He's a good teacher, but if you struggle with math, you really need to put an extra effort to get a good grade in this class. Otherwise, you should be fine.

Great teacher, I understood his lecture better that the textbook. He is a bit funny, and makes the occasional joke. The reason I am giving him 4 instead of 5 is because he always is late for class, and it takes a while to get the results of the tests. but overall I would take him again.

He is a really nice teacher. Calculous is definitely not made for me but despite that he was really helpful and did a good job at explaining, tells some jokes from time to time and makes the class easier. The last four chapters are a race against time, so you better pay close attention to details.

I enjoyed learning from Prof. Herrera. He was knowledgable in explaining and breaking down calculus for those who may be bad at memorization. He'll help nurture your knowledge in the content since you'll need to understand previous content to move forward. A little fast but he is willing to answer any and all questions, no matter how dumb.

Pete is an excellent professor, I always looked forward to attending his class. Although, he sometimes arrives late and deviates from the topic his lectures are thorough and easy to follow. He encourages questions and provides help. His tests are not difficult and the final is MULTIPLE CHOICE, he doesn't assign quizzes and gives extra credit.

Pete is a very caring professor. He will be available to help students in his office or zoom and makes himself available on the weekends. He's pretty laidback and will not judge a student's questions even if they think that their question is stupid. Although I got a C, I can say that Pete's teachings had me enjoy math.

He was really good at explaining and going over problems in class. Also pretty cool and cracked a lot of jokes, I'm glad I took this summer course with him it was a good time.

Professor Herrera is knowledgeable, but can be inconsistent. Lectures are thorough, but he's often late. Utilize resources like unstuck study alongside the textbook to stay on top of the trig-heavy content.

He definitely cares for his students and is willing to help you out with any questions. Something he brings up about Calc 1 is that you NEED to have proficiency in algebra. You can't really pass this class without that. Take his advice to heart and study, then you should be fine. Although difficult, I wouldn't say I hadn't learned from this course.

Great person and professor. Cares for his students, and genuinely wants them to succeed. A few words of advice: Practice your trig identities. Make a note of important room numbers. Practice the two problems before and after on the class notes and you'll be fine. (those are his exam questions) It's challenging, but he gives you tools to thrive.
