Law becomes very interesting in his class.
This guy has a million & 1 stories to tell
Made law fun and interesting but not a very easy marker
great guy! the material is a little difficult, but he makes it fun
Amazing instructor! Tough, but very fair.
tests and assisgnments are brutal
Tough tests and assignments, but he cares and is there to help.
law is not justice, and justice is not law! if you have older exams, you win!
EXCELLENT teacher! Definitly deserving of a hottness factor.
covers a lot of materials. do not buy the text for this class, just study off his note package. cares about his students and keeps his class interesting. good class to take with him.
Peter is really funny and makes his classes really interesting. I would recommend to take law with him. like a stand up comedian, good for a night class.
Love his stories in law class
Entertaining, lively and gets the point accross
Pretty tough course, but crawled my way back with the final. Is it just me or does he look like Michael Douglas?
Good Class, but tough. Peter makes the class interesting.
harsh assignment. make flashcards from the notes he gives u and u'll be fine for exams. he's very entertaining. he'd be in showbusiness if he wasn't a lawyer. stories make tough material understandable. yay.
good class to take
GREAT TEACHER. Just read his notes and you'll do great. Study the old exams and your guarnteed at least a B.VERY ENTERTAINING !!!!
great teacher. hard teacher. study hard kids. thanks for a fun term Peter.
This is a hard class, but Peter is a great teacher! Keep up to date with the readings, make q-cards,and go to class to survive the exams. This class takes some effort on your part, but Peter improves it with his quirky sense of humour and funny stories.
all comments true. Peter rocks! Make sure you thoroughly double check his marking. (I found enough extras to boost me by a letter grade). I will definately be taking It'l trade law with him.
he's a very good teacher. Highly recommended. his lectures are real experinces and it sinks very easily. he midterms are very fun and enjoyable.
Yeah, Peter's a pretty good prof. Makes the class interesting. Anyone besides me think he looks like Michael Douglas?
Good guy, good teacher defintly keep this guy around
Peter, your a funny guy, but we dont know the law like you, so slow down, this teacher is kind of an ass, he is pretencious like most lawyers and most stories he tells are about how he's like "Im a lawyer.." like people are so impressed.your a ****! Member your story about a sterotypical blacks!?!
The most enjoyable class I have ever taken. His stories and examples are entertaining and educational. He knows his stuff very well. Very nice guy!
definetly a class you wanna go to!! HE's got great stories and is the funniest teacher i know at cap so far! I studied alot for the midterm exam and found that he is a damn hard marker..so when it comes to exam time..go above and beyond what you should study!
Peter is one of the funniest people I have ever met. This class is hard, but testing material is made very clear. He only tests you on things he actually talks about. Study HARD for the exams. It is just allot too remember. Great class. I definetly want to have Peter again for another course.
Peter is soooo Michael Douglas. I hate law but don't hold that against him. What's a case? All I remember is Hilda Hamhocker, he obviously married a woman with a sense of humour like himself.

peter is fun, humouous, effective, and an all-around excellent teacher; this is a class i look forward to. bring peter a donut, and say hi to Phyllis Frumpsteader and Arnold Abacus! oh yeah, study LOTS, and he is a hard marker.....
A Class Act Peter is the main reason I wish to persue Law in the future... well him and John Grisham =)
Holden is the only instructor that can keep you awake during lecture time. He's the best business instructor at cap because everything that he teachs in class will relate to your future. Exams are difficult (gives you an idea how law school would be tough) Overall he's a challenging teacher that will reward you for your hard work.
Peter is the best teacher. He's hard and you better study, but he's very fair and is willing to help. Not only that but totally hot! Peter will be missed!
Peter might be the best teacher in the school of business. His class will save your ass in the world of business....TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM!...hes not a hard marker because the material difficult so if you study at all you can get a good mark.
Great teacher, funny as hell, made law interesting. Exams are really tough, my class average was 65% on his midterm. He is helpful at times but if you bother him alot he withholds answer from you
Straight up #1 teacher at cap...nothing more needs to be said
awsome instructor, if not the best, one of the top 5 for sure. Funny as hell, yet quite serius and educated when it comes down to teaching. I didn't miss a single class eventhough I don't like law. Overall excellent.
Peter is an absolute genius. He is so funny and so smart, he is also a very decent person which everyone can respect! He made my law class my absolute favorite class even though it was pretty damn hard! BEST TEACHER EVER! Thanks Mr. Holden!!!
Great Teacher but study the torts for the midterm. I think he is the only person that could make such a boring subject interesting.
The best instructor I had in Cap. He is very clear in law. He makes law fun, and takes away the dullness of the textbook. I seriously recommend taking business law with this wonderful professor. He is a good teacher. He is the only one in college who knows actually how to teach law.
Good guy, funny, great stories.... but we went through the notes guide and he said certain questions would be on the test for PART B (5-10mrk Q) so i studied them and they weren't there so wtf. but besides screwing that up hes a good teacher and person.
Peter is awesome. Hes my favorite prof at cap. Hes a pretty tough marker, and you have to study hard for exams but he is very clear about that. Make sure you buy his course pack. He is also really funny.
Great great teacher. Definitely take this class. So helpful for the REAL WORLD. Excellent learning experience - excellent teacher!
Really cool guy...liked his teaching style!
One of the most amazing teachers I have had at cap. He explains every thing taught with an anecdotal story, to make you understand the reason behind each law. The exercises he makes you do help immensly to understand the law. Use common sense and intelligence and you will do very well!
Great teacher! I thought Law would be dry, but he brings it to life. With real-life examples, and extensive knowledge of what he teaches, it is clear that he enjoys teaching, and that all of his students enjoy his class.
thought law would be boring, but his stories allow you to comprehend what the law terms really mean. The stories really helped during the exams because you can picture him telling them (they are pretty funny) while you write
I thought Business Law was going to be boring. Peter made this class so fun for me that i learned everything without much effort he tells really fun stories which make the concepts stick with you for life. he is the best prof i have ever had and i cannot beleive profs like him even exist i absolutely love him and the way he teaches he is amazing.
I LOVE HIM!!! He's honestly the best teacher I have ever had in my 15 years of education! SOOO much fun and absolutely hilarious! Makes you never want to miss a class, its actually entertaining just to sit and listen to his stories (and he has LOTS of stories!) And he's just the cutest little thing ever!
he is an awesome teacher!he is my favourite!great sense of humor.always there to help you i loved his class i wish he taught more classes =]
he was an awesome teacher!! he is there for you when you need him.always answers your questions =] i loved his class. i wish he taught more classes. i totally recommend him. he knows his stuff. =] my favourite teacher =]
The bestest teacher you could ever have! hes always there for you. answers your questions. makes class fun. =] i definitely recommend him.
Very very entertaining class. I learnt A LOT that can be related to many things you will experience in real life. However there are other teachers who allow you to use open text book for tests. Peter Holden's tests take hours upon hours of memorizing everything in order to do decently
Peter is a really entertaining guy. He knows so much about the subject. He's also got a lot of entertaining stories to tell. The midterm in this class is brutal tho. He doesn't seem to like to repeat himself when answering questions.
Peter is a great teacher! Perfect example of a first year teacher, tells so many stories and explains everything in real life terms. You will enjoy his class if you like his corny jokes! exams are long and hard, other teachers allow open book for the exams, he does not. take his class either way because you will actually learn so much!!!
Great, entertaining teacher that can make a boring class fun. However, information on assignments and marking criteria are rarely defined. He is also rarely available during office hours. Would definitely take one of his classes again.
Very entertaining guy, many stories. Very knowledgeable about topics. I showed up to 75% classes baked and still managed an alright grade. only downside is hard midterm and exam
best teacher ever. always helpful and his stories make the class. it makes it relevent, not just out of some book.
Great teacher! very interesting stories, very clear. Great notes (didn't read a single page of the text book). would recommend!
Peter...Is...Fantastic. He takes an intensely dull subject (Canadian business law) and makes it interesting and pertinent. Out of all of my classes, this is the one I most often found myself discussing outside of class. Be warned: his teaching style is informal but his marking style is extremely strict, so his attrition rate is pretty high...
Classes material is often boring, but his examples are usually quite entertaining. Very fair marker
Best teacher by far! Has a lot of interesting stories that help teach you the content of the course. Just study hard for midterm and finals and you will do fine!
Best teacher at cap! I took 3 classes with him and loved every single one. He's so interesting to listen to that you actually look forward to his classes!
Peter is an excellent teacher with a huge depth of knowledge. He does use storytelling as a tool for teaching, but I found that it enriched my learning and helped me understand the material. He's funny, interesting and a great teacher. Highly recommend.
Not good instructor
If you are passionate about Law, you'll do great with Peter. If you are taking it because you have to, it will be a very difficult class. Hard exams. Lots of story telling. Classes are typically boring and repetitive. I wouldn't recommend.
Peter is a good prof., but BADM107 is not an easy A if you do not study and make notes. His lectures are interesting, and he is a funny guy. I appreciate that his materials include past midterm and final exams, so students know what to expect from him. He also accepts old textbook editions.
Peter is actually quite overrated on this board. He's perfectly nice and entertaining, but I'm not sold on his abilities as a professor. He is definitely knowledgeable, but I felt that we went through things as if we were already familiar with the concepts. Midterm was quite simple and clear, but I found the final to be unnecessarily difficult.
I highly recommend taking a class with Peter if you have the chance! I took BADM307 as an elective and enjoyed the class a lot more than expected. Peter uses his real life experience to liven up what has the potential to be a very dull class. And as he said on the first day of class, flashcards are ridiculously helpful.
I took Advanced Business Law 307 with him, and boy is it ever fun. He's really nice, funny and has good stories to tell and can apply himself really really well. Word of warning though, if you hate lectures where the prof just talks the whole class, you won't enjoy him. Grades usually depend on your presentation skills :)
What to expect: Breakdown: Term Assignment worth 20% (This just 1 assignment that's worth 20- a memo) Oral Presentation just 1 worth 10%, Midterm(25%) Exams are not cumulative , manageable to study for chapters, Contract drafting assignment worth 10%, Participation10 Final25. I highly respect him, will definitely help if you struggle-
Peter is a very friendly and helpful instructor, he will be there when you need help. However, you have to study hard and read the textbook, otherwise it is impossible to finish his contract assignment/risk management assignment. Be ready to expect exam dates changing haha, it changed 2 times for the midterm.
Just avoid. He is always unclear about what he wants and honestly i prefer just to go the my own creative way. No proper guidelines then complains about people not doing well. Exams are just unclear not the simple multiple choice short answer format. Uses unclear fill in the blank question that make 0 sense. I got a B- in the end, but come on!!
I took 307 with Peter, he was extremely unclear about what would be expected on his midterms, and assignments. Then marked everyone very tough, he said the highest mark was one student with an 86%. I would avoid his classes if I had a choice, unfortunately at Cap there is never much of a choice.
Peter is a lawyer by education and it shows. He's a hard marker, but if you work, it will be in your favour. Overall, I really enjoyed his lectures. Buy the class booklet, the actual book is not really needed. Do the exams in the booklet.
Great professor! Lectures are interesting and engaging. He does tell a lot of stories, but they add flavour to the class by highlighting real world applications. Assignments are very straightforward as long as you pay attention in class. And he's very approachable and easy to work with. Easily one of the best professors around :)
1) Tough - You need to study, read and use logical sense to understand the law material. Just memorizing won't help. However this class is easier than average law class, because this contains international business elements (management, marketing, negotiation ...) 2) Ask for help when you need, he is really helpful and willing to clarify.
Peter is one of the best Professors in Capilano University. His lectures are clear, interactive and super entertaining. Participation is not mandatory but I think it should be.
Peter is an interesting teacher, his class is enjoyable to attend. The only issue is his assignment and tests are way too difficult for a first year course. He expects a high level of understanding of the law that is difficult if you have never taken a class in it before. Be prepared to work hard.
Peter is a great teacher. He is interesting and engaging. The contract assignment is difficult but the exams are easy. If you listen in class he tells you exactly what will be on the exam. His lecture slides are a great studying point.
Excellent instructor. Very clear + makes the law lectures interesting - easy to understand. I started the semester expecting a boring course but he makes it fun. Exams are well prepared, if you come to every class and pay attention you should have no problem. Participation is required. Buy the extra course material. Work for your marks.
I did not enjoy his class. The majority of the time he tells stories that have nothing to do with the lectures. I'm pretty sure most of the good reviews for him on Rate my Prof he's done himself. Do yourself a favour and take the course with Chris Hardcastle
This guy is a decent teacher... Has a quirky sense of humour that he uses through the case studies he creates for the course. Super nice guy and is a fair grader. Instructions are clear and if you need further clarification he is good at explaining things further. I would recommend.
Peter is one of the best teachers at Cap. His classes are interesting and his tests are so easy. Honestly, all of the people complaining are clearly the students that didn't go to class. If you show up and listen, he tells you exactly what will be on the exam! It's an easy A and you will have fun in his lectures.
IBUS 340 ( International business law) itself is not an easy course. But with Peter, you will love it. Best instructor ever.
Not a very clear professor, his assignments instructions are very unclear. he tells us what he wanted us to do after the assignment was due and once he noticed everyone was unclear. His tests are confusing, especially the fill in the blanks, it seems like there is a lot of unnecessary information that only confuses you more.
Awesome teacher. Open minded and entertaining. Clearly wise beyond his years. This is a great professor don't miss out on his lectures. Does a great job of incorporating real life situations and experiences making the material relevant in life. His teachings have actually come in handy in the real world.
There is a LOT to learn in this course but with Peter's guidance and eagerness to help you, you will pass with flying colours, as long as you put in the reading and study time! Peter knows his topic inside and out and makes Canadian Business Law so much fun - how is that even possible? Hands down my favourite course.
As someone else mentioned, I am sure he writes some of this reviews himself. He is a great person. However, as an instructor he is very unclear. His assignments/test are not straight forward and so confusing . It seemed like he thought that his class was the only think we had going on in our lives avoid taking classes with him if you have a life
This a course that's going to help me my whole life. Peter makes it so easy if you go to class and do the assignments. He lectures cause there's so much info, but he's really entertaining. The students who don't like the course don't do the work - simple. He will help if you are lost. He basically tells you what's on the exam BEST TEACHER EVER
I've taken Peter for a few courses now and love his real life story. Being a lawyer, he has an uncanny ability to use anecdotes to convey teaching points. Though a dry humour, he's hilarious. One of my favourites at CapU.
I am on the fence whether or not I like Peter. So far he's been very vague about assignments. You think you are doing great, then he tells the entire class 2/3 failed to understand. He goes off on anecdotal stories that only somewhat matter to the course and you are clueless to what the class is even about.
Do yourself a favour a avoid any class with Peter. I'm an A student and I'm finding this class extremely difficult to follow. He never gives any criteria for assignments. He is VERY disorganized. He constantly changes dates for presentations without any warning. I'll ask him questions and he says he'll get back to me next class and then NEVER does.
Not very organized. Slightly rude, not compassionate.
Peter knows law. I have learnt more in this class than any other class I have taken at cap. As long as you show up, take notes and listen, you will do great. Peter is very helpful and the coursework is very manageable. You will learn more than you need to know for not only business but for life. Definitely recommend.
BADM 107 was great, essential for your education and everyday life. The people complaining either didn't show up or didn't listen. Good luck in the business world if you can't handle a little hard work and grit.
He's a good person and all, but his assignments are very unclear, he's slightly rude and snarky and make sure once he returns your stuff you go over it because he misses things. Most of the class didn't do well on the final and doesn't upload your grade until you're super close to the final. His lectures are good though
Peter is one of the best teachers at Cap. Does not make the course difficult like other teachers. He is very VERY nice teacher. Easy A if you just attend class, lay back and listen to him, take few notes here and there. You're good to go. Actually, i look for courses by his name, any course he teaches, just take it.
One of the assignments was unclear but overall Peter is actually a really good teacher. If you ask him for help he will help you. Parts of his exam are a bit tricky and difficult but if you go to class and follow his instructions you'll get a good grade. Really good teacher.
for this course you must study the book and attend the classes , he is very very knowledgeable , helpful and funny It never gets boring in his classes and he always has a case as an example listen to him and his lectures and you will easily get a good mark
I had 3 classes with Peter, he is fun and always keeps class enjoying with his stories. He almost always have a story or something to say about any education material. But, make sure to understand a lot of material, because the tests are too long and you should memorize a lot to get A or B. If you are taking BADM 101, you will pass it easily.
He is very friendly and patient to all his students. Always smile, always trying to make class or exam interesting. Really like him.
Other business law classes have it easier. The lectures are beyond what's needed to be taught. Gave us a project without prior lessons on it causing many students to get below-average marks for it. All tests are fill in the blanks making it extremely difficult because you have to keep memorizing. You don't get to apply what you've learned.
He goes off on stories that hardly apply. Lectures are way more compact when theydon't need to be. Gave us an assignment on a chapter he didn't even teach. Have our midterm with 3 weeks left of classes. The midterm has 3 units on it (one of which he didn't teach) and he has 6 more chapters to teach us in 3 weeks. Any other teacher would be better!
Peter is NOT accessible outside of class. I've told him I would be at his office hours twice and both times he doesn't show up. He told us that most students got the same questions wrong on the quiz... I'm pretty positive that Peter writes his own Rate My Prof reviews. The textbook that is required he wrote and we NEVER use it. Don't buy it!
Amazing teacher and person. Some lectures can be dry and boring. Tells lots of stories from his experience as a lawyer. Recommend seeing him in his office hours as it helps alot; especially with assignments. Easy to talk to. Go to class because sometimes he will tell what is on the tests and some notes are not on moodle.
I really liked Peter as a Prof. I learn well when examples are given and he has many stories to tell. He was extremely easy to talk to. Amazing person, very knowledgeable. Was hard subject to learn. I enjoyed the subject I was barely passing. I got out with a C+. Tests are long, if you know your stuff you'll be fine You NEED to study and memorize
His class is very difficult to follow and his power point is ancient. He never uses visual aid or anything. He can be funny but a bit insensitive at times. He teaches you things that you don't really need making the material extremely complicated. Other business law sections are not as hard as his.
Peter is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to law and teaches through examples and his experiences. The exams are difficult but if you attend class and make note of the questions he says will be on the exam and memorize all lists you should be able to get a b. Don't take if you aren't willing to put in the work.
Lots of material, however, Peter uses many of his own experiences to add context and understanding. It's business law so memorization is important, however, the key to assignments and exams is the ablility to critically analyze the questions in order to better apply the law. If your logic is tight, you'll do well.
Do not take his class, he takes the midterm and final exams out of 100. He follows obsolete ways to prepare question paper. Very lengthy and tough question papers. He failed 50 percent of the class in midterms.
His lectures are great and filled with fun (usually) relevant anecdotes, but he is never clear about what he wants on assignments and he marks ridiculously hard. I would avoid this class if you don't need to take it.
NOT GOOD: Half the class failed the midterm, and to make up for it, he gave us an extra test. Which 75% of the class failed. 99% of his lectures are these long-winded stories about how great he is as a lawyer without giving us any practical advice. We get it, you make enough bank to live on the west coast; at least try and help us live there too.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Some said he's tough, or his lecture is unexciting, but I find most of his lectures quite interesting and fun to listen to. He likes to teach through his own experience. You NEED to read the book, memorize essential things, and listen to his tips and tricks to get a good grade (it's a law class c'mon).
Was very rude and made me feel like a complete idiot the whole time I was in the class. Terrible person, made a few students leave crying. Attendance is pretty much required since you will never be told when the quizzes are in the class. I've had him for two semesters now and both have been terrible. Find a better professor/avoid his class.
Terrible teacher honestly, I wish I never took this class. We didn't use our textbook at all, he doesn't teach, and his lectures are terrible.
Peter Holden is by far the worst professor I have ever seen in the Lower Mainland. He lectures you all class with boring stories about his career in law and never helps you apply it to your learning. His instructions for assignments are extremely unclear and no rubric was ever provided. Has a PowerPoint that looks like it was made when he was born.
Tough grader & the main project was vague at the start- with that being said he's easy to get in touch with via email and readily answered all my questions in depth. Did not need the textbook at all but as long as you're taking notes of his lectures & listening to what he's saying you're good. Will straight up tell you what's on the exams.
If you want to actually learn something take Peters's class. If you're soft, go somewhere else. Apply yourself, invest in your learning and you'll do well. Took 107 + 340 with him. Tests are HARD. His classes weed out the weak. Come to class, ask questions, take notes, don't be shy. The people who complain about Peter are the ones who did poorly
He lectures you all class with boring stories about his career in law. You have to buy his book. Exams are difficult. Boring class!
Boring lectures. He talks about his personal stories. His exams are difficult.
Peter is very funny and I wish to have had an in-person class with him. Unfortunately, his tests are extremely difficult and assignments are convoluted. Be ready to memorize massive amounts of information including statutes and their section numbers. I read and took notes of the entire textbook and there was still material on the test not covered.
Easy going!
One of the worst profs ever had in my life. Even I transferred from a "terrible" college in Van. He requires to buy his self-published textbook but he doesn't use it at all, his lectures are not a lecture, everything's about his career talk. Almost everyone failed quizzes and tests. Avoid him and take an actual "5-rating" prof.
He is literally the best professor I've ever met.His lectures are so damn great. There is going to be a lotta reading though and you gotta work real hard, but seriously, take his class.
Talks about his personal life all the time without providing a clear connection to the subject. He made us buy textbooks and has never taught us something from it. deadlines so tight made me feel like I should die.
Everyone saying he is a bad prof is lazy. Took BADM268 w/ Peter in a CONDENSCED summer sem and still finished with 90% - he's the easiest marker. The assignments were very fair and the exam was a breeze. He is a great lecturer and is such a nice old man. If you ask for help, he will do more than that. He is ALWAYS reachable and answers super quick.
Dont take him very very hard marker
Most normal yapper in ohio blud was tryna spit facts all lecture but failed to do so. If you wanna hear the longest yapping session ever then please take this course
He teaches quite well in class but don't worry if you somehow missed his lecture his lectures are also available on youtube
I find his teaching style hard to understand and the projects are not well explained and confusing
Tough grader
Tough grader. Difficult to understand the concepts.
the professor is not good at all ,not supporting ,will not give grades . i would suggest not to take this professor ever , it was like a night mare . worst professor ever .
He is an amazing professor with lectures that keeps your attention. As long as you show up to class you will not fall behind. He is an old school teacher with paper and pen. He is gracious with giving extra credit if you have a good excuse for missing an assignment. You know where you stand with the guy and what you need to accomplish to get an A.
Fudu professor pencho.. na leyo .. adhi class fail krti ehne.. kuj smj ni aunda
..and we, the students, are the fans of the Cowboys, this guy has been getting paid the best money, yet we have to suffer because the man leading it all, is not doing his part. So if you have come across this while doing your semester-ly course registration, well I hope you make the right decision, and if not, then I failed to do my part. (7/7)
..How is that going? Well the Cowboys so far have lost more games than won, and whether you want to blame it on Dak Prescott, the coaching staff, the owner, the players, he played a part in this catastrophe of a season for “America's Team”, and I would say that Peter Holden is kind of like Dak Prescott, (6/7)
..which actually boggles my mind quite a bit I must say, because he is getting paid top dollar, but doing his job at a bottom level, absolutely no love for the game. It sort of reminds me of Dak Prescott, the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, recently at the time of this writing, he signed the biggest contract in the NFL's history, (5/7)
..and once in a blue moon, he will connect it to something related in the broad course that is Business Law. Don't even get me started on the textbook, so he wrote his own textbook for this specific class and maybe others, and I'm sure we all know the reason why ($$$), he has also mentioned that he makes a lot more than other teachers, (4/7)
..well I'm sure that's already implied, but to say the least, I'm not that delusional of a person myself, but if you taught me the subject for 30 minutes before each class, I think students would prefer if I was teaching the material rather than whatever he thinks he's doing in his classes, which by the way, is telling stories about his life, (3/7)
..just to tell people about his life and what he's done, and extra money, I mean there is no other motive I can possibly think of as to why he would consider this teaching job, but man do I wish he didn't. Now I don't want people to see this review and think of it as just another rating, but rather a warning. As to what the warning is, (2/7)
..I usually don't give ratings during the middle of the semester but wow, I don't need any more time to make up my mind about this guy. I mean where do I even begin, the part I looked forward to the most about Peter's class every week was leaving it. I would say there's a very high chance this guy wanted a teaching job (1/7)
Peter is such a nice guy but he's not for teaching. Lectures are sometimes irrelevant. You need to do side study to understand the materials. His tests are interesting but hard. Choose your group wisely. Dont be afraid to ask questions or come to his office to ask for clarifications. I like that he prepares you for the real professional world.
Don't listen to all these people whining in here. They are just lazy, wanting easy credits. Peter Holden is a excellent professor. If you ACTUALLY want to learn Business Law, he is the guy to take. He's a retired lawyer, who teaches through his experiences. He teaches you the law and how not to fail or get sued while you build a business.
Doesn't explain anything and provides no criteria.
As long as you go to class and listen, he gives you a breakdown of what exactly will be tested. Participation is a must in this class so if it's just for credit, maybe avoid. Can be a little confusing at times but very accessible via email and will take the time to listen and help you with any questions. Really kind and caring prof!
Tough grader, but the lectures are engaging. Use unstuck ai and the free textbook to stay on top of the material. Attendance is a must, but the professor is fair with extra credit.

he's a great guy but i agree with the person that said he's not for teaching. i never payed attention in class bc i could not focus, his yt videos saved me. i had a perfect gpa and his class ruined it. there's a bunch on final/midterm that he doesn't teach in class and you have to guess. but overall an amazing person and gave me extra marks
Probably my favorite professor in my 3 years at Cap. Seems as though some students in here are trying to sabotage his good rating. The people upset in here are either lazy or wanted an easy grade. He's a retired lawyer who actually teaches you about law. I've learned so much from him and got a good grade because I paid attention and showed up.
I think that Peter is an "okay" teacher at most. A lot of the class is him talking about experiences, sometimes he will go off topic. This is a class you will definitely have to pay attention in (even though it is quite difficult). He requires a textbook which he made. He is a pretty funny teacher though. Wouldn't recommend this class for credit.
if you can't focus in class, don't take Peter
My biggest mistake was taking his class
Don't take peter for the sake of your grade, All he does is go off-topic which requires you to self study a lot of the time
Terrible professor. Never reads emails and you need to self study, Peter barely teaches in class. Doesn't respond to email and is impertinent. Textbook is also barely used. I don't recommend Peter, this class will 100% hurt your GPA.
Save your GPA and your misery by NOT taking this class. Peter's teaching can be very difficult to understand, especially when he goes off topic and starts talking about his lawyer career. His grading is weird, midterm and final formats are weird. Reads through his slides, makes you buy his book and doesn't teach out of it.
Class feels quite convoluted, hard marker and doesn't respond to emails. Peter can also be quite snarky at times
It is evident that Peter is extremely knowledgeable and was successful in his law career. This course is poorly formatted. He is the only one who teaches, so if you have to take it, good luck. Lecture notes are confusing. Lots of personal stories. Does not give rubrics or explanations for assignments. Midterms are formatted horribly. GPA ruiner.
Not a teaching teacher. Class materials are formatted weirdly, very confusing when explaining and heavy on his own personal stories and his career in law. If you don't focus and take notes, good luck.
Had no choice since he is the only one who teaches IBUS 340. I don't like how the course is laid out and the midterms are formatted excessively weirdly.
I think that Peter is a pretty good person, his stories are quite fascinating, and is definitely an experienced man. My only issues are the classes can feel disengaging at times, you may have to self study and all his assignments aren't very clear in-terms of instructions. This class is not easy so I wouldn't take it if you need electives.
This class has been more than a headache. Peter definitely knows his stuff and is a story teller but he's not a teaching teacher. His lectures are hard to follow along to, unengaging, his grading criteria is unclear, the quizzes, midterms and finals are weirdly formatted. I did take away some useful information but I wouldn't recommend Peter.
Probably my favorite professor I've had in my 3 years at Cap. Hes controversial because of his teaching style which is where he talks the whole class about his lifes work as a lawyer and he ties it into the lesson. I liked his class because he doesn't just teach you what the law is, he teaches you why. You have to care and pay attention to succeed.
Literally talks about personal stories all class that do not relate to course material whatsoever, and when the whole class failed a quiz he blamed the students instead of taking any accountability
Assignments are confusing and grading is unclear. Makes you buy the text book but doesn't use it more than 2 chapters. Everyone in my class failed a quiz and blamed it on us rather than his all over the place teaching style. GPA tanker would not recommend his class.
Peter straight up told us that we are the reason that we failed his contracts quiz. Everyone in the class practically failed which indicates that there is an issue with his teaching. You are only marked on 4 things and the biggest one and first one is worth 25%. Assignments are formatted weird. Save your sanity, don't take this class with Peter.
He is a nice guy but he shouldn't be a teacher. He only talks about his life during the lectures and there is little to no relevance to the course material. His slideshows don't have enough info on them as he expects you to take notes but even if you do you will still fail. Only graded off of 3 assignments and exams are very long and confusing.
Peter's teaching is very weird. It becomes hard to understand what he says at points and also throws in stories that makes it a harder to listen to. Marked off few things, only two assignments 40% of your mark, slides have barely any info which makes it harder to study, and the textbook was barely even used.
A first year class shouldn't be egregiously this hard. I've put my full effort in this class and it feels that the effort isn't worth it. Peter's quite a hard marker so keep that in mind and keeps a close eye on attention to detail. His teaching is all over the place which made it very difficult to learn.
Peter is a nice person but as a teacher the class is very difficult. All assignments and tests are unclear with weird word formatting. You can study as much as you want but everything that appears on the final is not what you would expect. It is very hard to pay attention in this class as a lot of his lectures go off topic. Not a great experience.
The topics on the quizzes and midterms is something you have to pray you study for. You don't know what's going to come up. Peter is an alright teacher, the lectures become extremely hard to pay attention to. Class failed a quiz and blamed the students. Definitely is not a teaching teacher.
I'm very disappointed with the instruction I got in BADM 107. It felt very hard, the lectures were not easy to follow along to, and combine it with the stories, which are nice don't get me wrong, makes the class just completely difficult to listen to. Textbook is only useful for doing the end chapter questions for "shadow marks".
this class was not a good experience, I would not recommend
This class gave me a huge headache and made me stressed often. Textbook is just a paperweight, often goes off-topic and when you see the assignments, midterms and exams, you go "huh???" when you see it and don't understand it because of it's confusing wording
Peter Holden is not a very good teacher!!
I wish I would have taken another elective. Peter is overall not a great teacher. Slides after slides, always talks personal stories that don't relate to the course content, graded such few assignments with high percentages, textbook isn't used, is quite a tough grader. Stay away if you want to take any breadth electives.
don't take this class. quizzes and tests have material in which there is no chance you will study for because its hidden in his lecture slides
What makes the class difficult is the wording of the assignments and the way the prof teaches the content to the students.
Don't take him he sucks
Peter grades students by only a few things. In the class you have only around a few assignments, midterms and exam. One of the assignments are worth as much as the final which is a little weird. His teaching style was hard to follow to and he just reads through his lecture slides.
He's alright but also is not that good. I wish I were to learn quite a bit but it feels really hard to learn. The quiz was horrendous and I'm pretty sure our entire class failed the contracts quiz.
Oh yikes. Avoid if you can. If you can't, start making a QuizLet/study guide EARLY. Will give you the previous years tests to study, which is good. Confusing assignments, minimal criteria. Bad at emailing. Can be condescending. Really smart guy, funny, good person. Would not recommend as a prof tho. Study hard and ask questions, you will pass
You 100% need to take notes in his class. If you can, I'd use an AI Notetaker so it makes it easier. Weird wording on all the things worth stuff on your grade, his teaching is alright, at times not great. Definitely be prepared for his stories, there will be a bunch. Careful as he is quite a hard mark so really read the rubric. Would avoid.
Peter is not that great of a teacher and marks very hard
Didn't teach at all, lectures were hard to follow along to.
Not the greatest prof, unengaging and the content is honestly quite difficult to study because it's all over the place and some things he said will be on the exam werent
He only talks about his life
Not enough assignments worth marks (only like 3-4), confusing wording on assignments, lots of personal stories alongside him reading off slides, does not answer emails frequently enough
If you can, avoid Peter. He's not much of a teaching teacher, his textbook was a bit of a waste because most of the things you need for the midterms, quizzes and exams are on his lecture slides. Very heavy on the personal stories. Make sure you take notes and use something like an AI summarizer to make it easier to study
Interesting lectures and content. Strict, but fair. Get ready to read and learn a lot in this class. Practical lessons where students act as a real company.
Often doesn't respond to emails, didn't feel like I learned much because I couldn't focus because his lectures were pretty much read off the slides + stories which don't relate to the days lectures, quite a harsh marker, and can be quite snarky at times. Textbook wasn't used but if you did the questions in the book, you could get "shadow marks"
The class isn't that bad but Peter isn't that great of an instructor. He has his own weird formatting which gets confusing, the many reviews about his stories are accurate and they do indeed become hard to listen to. Bought his textbook and I didn't really use it much. His teaching style is weird and his lectures sometimes are all over the place.
dont take this class for the sake of your GPA
I'd avoid. This class is just not it. Business Law interested me at first but after taking it, I was extremely disappointed. Most of his lectures are reading off the slides and like the reviews says, he adds in his personal stories and constantly gets sidetracked by his own personal stories making it hard to learn.
class practically failed quiz, i did well but you really need to lock in. the reviews really speak for themselves
Didn't teach well. He is nice but didn't give great lectures. It was hard to study for tests. Would not take again.
I will simply just say I will not be taking this professor anymore, he is a very tough grader and his classes go off topic pretty quickly. Not a great teacher, will not take again.
If u care for ur gpa and want a respectable teacher don't take this class w this man
