great lectures, very informative. This is a good class, uses articles instead of a text book. He has an excellent grasp of material and keeps things interesting. Highly reccommend this professor.

a great teacher... very informative and not dull at all. funny sometimes, too.
An easy teacher if you attend lectures. Not only is he informative and well-learned, but he also gives the class a bit of enjoyment with his subtle humor. Tests are based solely on the lectures (and one or two articles); he even allows a 3x5 note card!
great teacher, always willing to help his students and spend extra time working with them so they can understand the material. lectures are long and somewhat boring, but it's biology! his tests are hard but he tries his best to help the student succed
Great teacher! I took this class during the summer, and he made it very easy during the 5 weeks. There were 4 4-5 page papers, a few in-class papers (more like worksheets), a midterm, and a final. Very interesting topic, too. Plus, he's a cutie ;)
Damned good teacher who definitely knows what he's talking about.
Peter Ingmire is the finest man I have ever seen. His dead-pan humor and general dorky facade are the hottest attributes to ever hit the planet. The girl who gets to shag him gets to know both his nice body and protein production in great detail. Thank you Ingmire, you work wonders for Biology.
He is a bad ass. With his subtle and randomly funny jokes mixed with so much interesting stuff its hard not to learn a lot and get a good grade. If only i wasn't an art major i would be taking more than just one class from him. take him if you can expecially if your gonna take Disease!
I totally agree with everyone! He is very knowledgeable at the same time interesting. He is very willing to help those students who show effort that they are trying to learning the materials. Pay attention to his lectures and , that where he gets his exam materials. Him being a hottie is a plus A+++
he is such a great teacher. fun and interesting lectures and always have time for students to ask questions. very knowledgable, great sense of humor, and exams are fair if you study. overall great teacher,, great class. i would recommend him for people who are interested in bio. such a great class!
If you go to ALL of his lectures, and take good notes, you should be fine. His exams are fairly easy if you study.
Very knowledgable about the material. Very funny. Very friendly. Challenging exams, he tries to make sure his students get the "big picture." He is not definition tester. I highly recommend this professor.
Knows his stuff. I was undeclared until i took his class. gives really good analogies so you're able to comprehend the material. One of the best teachers i've ever had.
This is an easy class, but you have to go every time. For the quizzes study all your notes and the study questions from the labs and i guarantee you an A.
OUTSTANDING. seroiusly, why can't all teachers/professors be like Ingmire? He knows the material through and through-and because of that-he's able to explain everything simply and CLEARLY. Concepts I've been trying to learn since my freshman year in high school are so clear to me now. BEST professor I've ever had.
great understanding of the subject, very helpful and clear, didnt use the book at all in my opinion, just lectures, YOU HAVE TO PAY CLOSE ATTETNTION
SOOO freakin HOTT!!!

So Cute. It's fun to pretend to listen to his lecture and just look at him. No, but really, he knows his stuff and the class was very interesting.

He's HOT! and yeah also very interesting. you seriously won't take your eyes off him. test was super hard though.
He's HOT! you seriously won't take your eyes off him. very interesting lectures, but the test was super hard!
I have to agree with everyone... this professor is easy to fall in love with. He's amazingly intelligent- people would ask him completey unrelated questions and he answered them with ease, he's got this amazingly sexy geek chic thing to him and beautiful blue eyes, and he's also just an excellent teacher who knows his subject material. It's not an easy class per se, but you can do well and it's not difficult when you have a professor as good as he is. I recommend him to every person I can, and they thank me
It's like listening to a monotone computer voice read a DVD manual for three hours.
I absolutely LOVED this class, and I'm crap at science. Ingmire makes it so interesting b/c he knows exactly what he's talking about. He's interested, so you're interested. Plus, he'll throw in the occasional joke which will startle you, b/c he's usually so straightforward, but you love him for it. Oh, and he's INSANELY hot.
This was the worst class I have ever taken. I thought, according to this webpage he is funny, cute and interesting. Well to each his own I nearly died of boredom. The tests were not at all like the lecture and the lectures were about as interesting as salt in your eye! If thats ur thing enjoy...
One of the best teachers, ever. This is the way teachers should be -- enthusiastic, knowledgeable, able to put the book down and just talk. The mark of a great teacher isn't that he gives you kindergarten-level work, it's that he likes the subject so much, he makes you like it too. He's also great in office hours. All tests are covered in lectures.
okay the people who said his class is easy are LYING!!! the papers are easy yes, but the tests are not. he is cute yes and knows what his material but he just sounds boring. supposedly everything on the test is from the lectures but if you want to get a good grade or even passing you need to know more than that.
He was a really good teacher and he really knew what he was talking about but the tests had nothing to do with the lecture. The papers he assigned were easy but the tests were killer.
Good lecture notes and very clear
He wonders off to seven million topics and then comes back to the main one, but he explains things pretty deeply. Also, don't expect to be entertained, he is a good teacher but not a super fun one
If you understand what the biology is, this class may be fun. You really have to know every details to take the test. The test is like an advanced thing, not just like a test to check if you attend the class. The textbook does not really help.
DUDEEE..his class stresses me outt! Can't help but to put my head down on my desk and snooze to his monotone voice! Sure he's nice to look at and gives occational funny analogies but boy are HIS TESTS HARD!!
To all those who think Ingmire is hot,you guys are sick.He is a bucked teeth, four eyed wanna be jock ****. His lectures are incredibly difficult to follow, not only does he have a monotone voice, but he goes off into tangents. And here's the kicker-His tests are insanely difficult;you have to understand the concept and then some.Headache galore!
So many slackers here. Ingmire rarely uses the book, so he creates his tests from scratch based on his lectures. I didn’t study, I just listened, and I got an A every time because of his insane grading curves. On one test, out of 22 questions, 15 is an A! He is quiet and easy to tune out, but just listen to him and he’s real funny and interesting.
very detailed and clear teacher. knows his stuff well. his tests are open notes (sometimes) but taking good notes is the key to passing. also showing up so u actually understand whats going on. his tests are not basic questions, so be sure to know your stuff well. great teacher. was my favorite class this sem.
The class material is kinda hard. The teacher is a nice person, but like others said before... he has a monotone voice. Sometimes I got confused with the way he presents the material. Some info is just oral, not in the book nor in the board. The keys are taking notes of his explanations of the material and going to lectures. Ok class, though boring
Not the easy class I was hoping for. It's probably best you don't take his class once a week, if possible, because he gives a lot of boring information, and he's really hard to listen to.
i dont know what these people are talking about.. this class was soo bad i think only reason why this guy gets so high ratings is becaues girls think he's hot. His exams are extremely hard and completely based on his class lectures which were unclear as he mumbles all the time. Class avg on tests were always low yet he still doesnt curve as much
his tests were hard, but he curved the test a lot so it helped, the few assignment he assigns are easy and gimme points, going to class is mandatory or else you wont have a clue of what is going on because he doesnt follow the book much, take good notes
I think he assumes that everyone is a BIO major. I was clueless it was the worse class ever. If you are a little rough on the edges when it somes to BIO take someone else. Ingmire curves his test but his tests are hard as hell. Take Auleb!
This teacher was wonderful. His classes are challenging, but rewarding. I took Biol326 just because he was teaching it. And to the person who said it was because of his looks, I am married and not at all interested in a teacher's looks. He really knows his stuff and is very organized.
Very very difficult quiz/tests. His lectures ARE very clear, and even if you think you know everyhting he lectured about, you may still fail the quiz. Don't bother with the book for anything but visuals (which are helpful in their own way) I found him interesting but very challanging.
He is very clear in lectures and will answer questions. But you *have* to attend every class and read everything in advance or you'll be lost. Tests are difficult, but assignments are gimmes. I'd take another class from him.

semi monotoned voice... tough curriculum... pretty clear lectures though
This professor is very difficult. I took his BIO 100 course and he treated us like we were future biology professors. His tests were VERY difficult. If you are a biology major, then this professor would be perfect for you. I ended up withdrawing from his course, but that was for other reasons.
all in all its a good class, but I didnt do well simply because I missed it too often, didnt study, and didnt read... if I had, it would have gone much better... go to class attentive and ready for a lecture... hes funny, and very physically fit... hes like.. spider-man
I think people are way overexaggerating the difficulty of this class. As long as you pay attention and take good notes, you'll be fine. Personally, I loved Ingmire. I'd definitely take another course with him.
He makes the class interesting although the coursework is quite a lot.He summarises everything very well and explains it very well.Knowledgeable and knows what he is doing.Attend lectures and you'l be fine.Easy assignments, tough exams but he works on a scale which really pushes up your mark.
Very funny guy, he made boring subjects interesting. He grades on improvement and effort, and he's extremely fair, so even if you don't do that well on tests, you can probably still pass if you do well on the papers (which there are hardly any of).
Very good teacher! Got 3x5 notecard for exams (2 for our final) Made it very interesting and fun! Take him if you can!
he was very passionate about what he taught but i had a hard time applying what he taught on tests. It was hard for me to understand alot of stuff because he covered the material really fast and although we had index cards to help us on our tests, i still struggled to pass his class. recommended if you're really into biology.
I have taken two classes taught by Peter, BIO 326 and 327. Both classes were awesome. Be sure to attend class and take good notes - doing this will assure a good grade. He is very knowledgable and I highly recommend him.
Excellent Professor, one of my favorites at SFSU. Knows his stuff and is very easy going. Organized and tells you what he expects. Easy class if you plan on going and taking notes, not so much if you're just into finding the easiest professor ever but I assure you that he makes class interesting enough.
Only class at SFSU with an !
The lecture is boring but participation points depend on in-class clicker quizzes & activites. His online quizzes & midterms are hard. Paper is ok. About 80% of the final exam come from online quizzes & midterm. Overall, the class doesn't have much pressure if you've science background. As almost everyone said before me,Yes, Peter is good looking.
This was a challenging class. I wouldn't recommend taking it as a once a week 3-hour class- because he always uses the entire time. The lectures can be interesting, but they are pretty intensive and you have to take really good notes! The tests are really hard, though he does curve.
this is an interesting class with alot of pretty cool info, but some of his powerpoint lectures get kinda boring after a while. A or B is easy though, as long as you do the quizzes and midterms, which are easy-straight from the readings mostly. Ingmire's really knowledgeable and he tries to make it fun.
He's simply the best teacher for Bio. Though the class is challenging and exams little hard, but his teaching makes everything so interesting that you WANT to study and do well on the exams! That itself says a lot for a good teacher! Just dont miss class and take very good notes, it helps a lot for exams. The short paper topics are very easy.
He is good looking. He knows what he is talking about. He is very passionate about bio and can answer almost every single question. I had CR for this class because it was very hard for me. I had no idea how I passed with CR since I kept getting D's in his quiz. Quiz are also curved. Overall good class if you like biology and is good at it.
Amazing teacher. He can answer any question you have and is EXTREMELY fair with his grading. It's a pretty challenging class but if you work hard, it's rewarding. I will for sure try to have another class with Ingmire!
Simply the best teacher I've ever had in any class. His explanations are very very clear and he curves exams very generously. Exams are not too hard or too easy: you just have to study for them. And he's just really nice too
Ingmire is the man. He's a fantastic teacher and does a good job of making the subject interesting with funny analogies. It's a tough class, but with decent notes and some major studying the day before exams, you can do well.
Unless you enjoy beating yourself over the head w/ a hammer, DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!. Teacher was not helpful, barely learned anything -if you fail the final you fail! Should take Human Bio 101/102 before taking this class or you will be extremely lost as I was & those who did weren't lost. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT CLASS! Definately not an easy B.
People unnecessarily freaked out that the final is 50% of the grade-keep in mind that it's the easiest final ever written & that the other 50% is online quizzes/projects. Idiots probably ignored the Bio prereq (not that the material is difficult) or didn't realize that the book is crystal clear. He's hilarious, sarcastic & really fun in lecture.
run the other way! If u space out for one minute in class, your lost for the rest of the lecture!
This class is only for students who have a passion for learning things in life. It was a very hard class but no gain without pain. I had to put an effort into this class and I can say it was worth it. I learned a lot and am more aware now. He is a very cute and helpful professor. Its very hard to find men with the right qualities in a perfect blend:

Ingmire gives very challenging exams, BUT the final grade is based on your improvement throughout the semester. I didnt do that well on the exams, okay on the papers, and i ended up with a solid A. There are 2 long exams, 3 short exams, and 3 papers. The class is hard, but you learn soooo much! TAKE HIM.... ;-)
I really liked this class, even though it was pretty difficult. You really have to pay attention and go to lecture. Reading the book is helpful too, but not necessary. The biggest thing for this class is to take good notes.
this man knows the answer to anything and manages to pull everything off with a witty twist. no attendance sheet. i never bought the text and pulled a passing grade. he does a weird averaging thing that benefits everybody. if you must take bio, take with this guy.
WHAT EVER YOU HEAR DON'T DON'T!!!!!!!!! TAKE THIS MAN CLASS YOU WILL FAIL IF YOU ARE NOT A BIO NERD. His class his hard as hell.
This class sounded interesting on paper, but for the love of GOD it is absolutely terrible. It's literally just slides. More quizzes than you can imagine and if you're not all about Biology, you will want to kill yourself. This was likely to be my least favorite class I've EVER taken...
Hated this class, but I love biology. You have to buy a $50 clicker to sign in every class, he teaches off a powerpoint and talks as if he's speaking to 4yr bio majors. I though he was boring, gave my clicker to a classmate to sign me in and stopped going. I was extremely disappointed with this class. Don't take it if you don't have to.
Ok so here's the thing...boring class. Super boring..everything is online which is awesome, and you have many attempts for the finals and quizzes. I went to class 6 times...literally, 6. Studied a bit for the final (50% of your grade)...I pulled off a C+. If you're tryin for the A, I suggest you go to class a little more than I did.
This guy is clever and humorous. Lectures somewhat interesting but if you're not a biology major work is tedious. Tests are extremely hard. reading and note taking is a must. tests are curved. attendance is not mandatory but i would recomend going because the lectures are so important.
great professor, funny sense of humor too. got an A and I only went to class half the time. the tests are somewhat difficult but are extremely curved and there are a few papers that aren't that hard, so its not that difficult to get a good grade. definitely take this class.
This class was very difficult. He teaches the class as if it were catered to upper level students in a biology major. I took this class for GE and I was not expecting it to be this difficult! He curves his tests generously but keep in mind that they are very difficult.
Professor Ingmire was FANTASTIC! we was helpful, interesting and not to mention extremely good looking. all his test and quizzes are online and you can take them multiple times. on the final, he allows you to use a cheat sheet. i got an A so if anyone says that it was too hard, its not. you just have to do all the work :)
I am terrible at science in general and this is the first time in my entire life that I got higher than a C in Bio. I got an A. The exams are difficult but the curve helps incredibly and he cares about students. If you go to him for help it improves your test score dramatically too. Cell essay is pretty difficult but the other two are easy.
Very hard class but he is a good teacher. Paying attention and going to class is really how you get your grade because lectures are important in passing exams. He is a very fair teacher. Tip: do all papers because you could still pass his class even if you did poorly on the exams.
Hard tests but he curves them A LOT. (i got D's and C's on my tests but ended up with an A in the class). on the last few tests, if you ask to use notecards he'll let you. papers=easy points. you can get by without the textbook. i suggest going to class because if not, you miss a lot. ingmire is really smart, he knows his stuff for sure.
ok heres the deal!! you can miss about three classes and still pass..do the papers. notes are clear...go through them. explains stuff in class. looks....he has a hot body! his arms especialy! he is a geeky guy with something hot about him. funny and answers all questions.take the class!! its not bad even if ur not a bio wiz.
Great teacher! Textbook not needed as long as you go to class. Take his night class. It was long, but very worth it. I would definitely recommend!
He can be a bit overwhelming and make you think as if he's speaking a totally different language, especially if you have no solid biology background. Nevertheless, I love Peter 'cause not only does he know the material VERY well, he brings (excuse my fanaticism lol) good looks and deadpan humor that makes this class entertaining and worthwhile.
Prepare for big words and scientific terminology without any explanations of their meanings. I have taken the pre req's for this class and this class is Advanced and overwhelming for me (I have a 3.78 GPA and I am a junior)I wish the professor would slow down and say for once "Red blood cell..." and not erythrocytes... etc.
Peter Ingmire is a great teacher! He got me interested in Biology for the first time and now I can't get enough. He knows the material very well, makes it interesting and adds humor!
omg why does peter have to be so good looking... thats probably why im gettin a c, but hey he knows the material so well he breathes it and eats if for breakfast, this guy is a bio genius, bow down to him
He is really good-looking. His class is challenging, though. Definitely stay on top of taking notes in class. The notes from class are all you really need to pass the class.
This man is Great! He has a great teaching style, and presents the material with clarity. Yes this class will make you feel as though you have just entered the world of graduate studies, but you will learn alot! Plus who can't help but just stare at this man!
Bio Genuis!!! round of applause to this man for his looks and his brain! teaches with amazing clarity and is very open to questions and discussions. class attendence is highly recommended. a lot of note taking but you learn tons! applies bio concepts and theories to the real world = helpful. If you can get past drooling over his looks you'll pass:)
I am only writing this because people complained that Bio 327 was a hard class because it had Biology material in it. Uh...IT IS CALLED BIOLOGY 327!! NOT Coast Through Class 327, or Social Science 327. How do you plan to learn about AIDS in a BIOLOGY class without learning the bio aspect of it?? Its not for bio majors, but it is STILL a bio class!
very good professor, understanding, funny and know his bio!!!i am guessing he's a medical student
great professor!!!! knows his stuff too well. i ll bet he's a med student... funny and keeps students interested.
excellent teacher who knows everything to do with biology. on tests and quizzes he grades on a curve (he explains the curve which is different in a good way) you dont need the book for most of the class but it does help alot. there are 2/3 short papers one of which you can just draw. overall a great class & teacher. taking his bio 326 hes that good
Best professor at State. The smartest person I've ever met - he knows EVERYTHING! SO passionate about Bio & he makes you appreciate & think about your body in a new way; applies bio to real life. Have to really work for an A but he'll reward you if you're trying (curve, extra credit). TAKE NOTES, go to EVERY class!! Ah so gorgeous/funny, take him!
Tests are difficult. He isn't hot. HE OLD. :]
It is difficult for a GE class, so if you are looking to sleep through class, do not take this one. I think he was a great teacher, and I learnt a lot and easily. You HAVE to go to class and take notes if you plan on doing well on this class. He grades on a curve and has a couple short essay assignments. He is a GREAT bio teacher
HE IS NOT HOT! But, he isn't a bad teacher. He's a little bland at times, I didnt like the way he took notes, and his tests are kinda difficult. Go to class and read the book, you'll be fine. He lets you retake the online quizzes at the end of the semester. His tests are unpredictable so read everything in the section. He's a pretty good teacher.
I really hate this class. His writing is really horrible even people wearing glasses struggle with reading his writing. His notes are all over the place and his drawings dont help at all. I can truely say that i dread going to his class. This class is my worst nightmare!!!!
Uses clicker questions for attendance, online quizzes and midterms. Barely went to class... thought I was going to fail since the final is 50% of your grade. Did well on quizzes/midterms, missed a 20 point assignment, got a C on the final and still got an A- for the class. Truly wish I actually had the time to learn interesting the material!
He is a very good teacher. He knows tons of information on basically every disease known to man. This is a very fun and informative class, however his tests are hard and there is no curve. 2-3 short essays 1 research paper w/ oral group presentation. Great class but little extreme for a Seg 3 class! Would definitely take it again. Just study hard!
I've heard his Bio classes are simple, but Disease was VERY HARD and VERY BUSY. I thought I was failing the whole semester, but I think he curves the final grade a lot since everyone does so badly - I somehow got an A. his handwriting sucks but he's kind of cute. ;] don't take this unless you're really good in science! and even then, GOOD LUCK.
This guy knows what he's talking about. He's very direct, and as long as you go to EVERY class and write down EVERYTHING he says (not just what he writes down!) you'll learn a lot. Note review and reading the book helps. He grades on a curve, so you can definitely get an A!
Amazing Professor! Loved his class. He grades on improvement, so even though I got a D on my first test I got an A in the class.
NOT an easy class but if you invest time into reading and studying class binder, pay attention in class and are a serious student you will be fine. I hate biology but it's all about what you put in. Can't miss class without getting behind. It's the most challenging class I've ever had & the most I've learned. Absolutely love his style and the class
the class wasn't easy, he wasn't particularly clear or helpful outside of class. I bombed most of the tests and still got an A. He's he really knows his stuff, don't miss class, do every assignment, take good notes and spend time clarifying concepts on your own via internet/etc if your not able to make his office hours. I learned alot overall.
Great guy, very nice and very helpful but the class is HARD!!! I know that it says that it is not intended for Biology majors BUT DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU ARE A BIOLOGY MAJOR!!!
HARD CLASS! It's an elective & not intended for majors when it should be! You learn a lot through his lectures and he's a great teacher who is genuinely very interested in Disease and interested in teaching it. However the tests and papers KILLED ME. I would not recommend this class.
very fast paced class with hard material but if you are interested in the subject its fun to learn about. definitely a class that needs a lot of studying for. He is a very intelligent professor and is great about answering questions and go to for help. Take the class if you are dedicated to actually spending time learning the material.
this class is stupid. He asks a bunch of dumb assed questions online quizzes. He expects us to have mental telepathy because the questions are really left up to interpretation yet if you don't answer the way he feels is sufficient you get the answer wrong. The textbook totally incomprehensible and guess who wrote it? there should be a law against
He is funny in lecture and know everything there is to know about AIDS. He has an online quiz for ever section that are easy to pass because you are given mulitple tries on them. The final is the only tough part and is cumulative. Attendance and his clicker questions will save your grade. Hes the sweetest guy I know right now.
I highly recommend this class!! Human Sex was my favorite class this semester. One online quiz due once a week, three online midterms, one final (in class). He also gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Clickers are used for this class, so attendance is mandatory. Youtube videos, short films, and guest speakers keep you "awake" in this class.
This class is very manageable if you stay on top of the readings. iLearn quizzes after each section, midterms after 3 sections have been covered. Although the description says its intended for non-bio majors, having an interest in biological concepts will be very helpful. iClicker questions used for attendance
Reader for this class is QUITE pricey, but it is very helpful when studying for quizzes. Powerpoints (avail on iLearn) are taken from the reader, so reading beforehand helps. iClicker is also required, don't sell yours! Aim for 100% on the quizzes, and study for the final, its 50% of your grade. Got a solid A :)
you have to buy a clicker for this class to show that you were in class. online quiz are given every week and you can do it as many times as you like to get the highest score. midterms are also online but only get one chance and is timed. all you have to worry is passing the final which is 100 multiple choice that is worth 50% of your grade.
I love peter! He's so smart and knows so much about what he is teaching, but he manages to work in jokes and be a funny guy. Even though you HAVE to go to class and buy a clicker, his class is definitely worth taking to get a science class out of the way
I was kinda scared about taking this class because according to this site, he's hard. BOLOGNA. His class was definitely a no brainer. Attendance is mandatory-its also how you earn points cuz you'll use a clicker. Also keep up with the quizzes online.
pros:some quizs and midterms you can take more than 1x. EC avail. Term paper is easy if you have something to write about. 1pg note for final. Work hard early on because even if you did bad on the midterm like I did you can still pass.Cons: lecture has TOO MUCH stats(%, #'s) to remember. Lecture tone is not loud.Final is like from quiz/midterm.
This class is definitely interesting & the prof is funny. However, his online quizzes can be tricky because he intentionally words them that way. Also, he's not very good at responding to emails & doesn't seem to care much about your concerns. He gives lots of extra credit. Participation is recorded through clicker Q's so be sure to attend class.
Interesting subject. INTERESTING, not fun. Read the book, attend all classes, take good notes, start study guide for final early on and you'll be fine.
Lots and lots of work! Read a thick book on AIDS and make sure you understand the material. High clicker use. 50% in class/quizzes and midterm. 50% Final. You fail final you fail class. Study hard!
BIO 327.There will be 10 superhard tests(VERY TIME CONSUMING!),3 huge midterms and one very long and hard final(50% of grade)rules for test are changing.Book is not interactive (black and white ink).Lectures are boring.Long-never ending PowerPoints, lots of info. You never know what you need to know.Do not take this class for any reason!even if BIO.M
It is a fascinating subject and Peter presents the material slowly in a logical way that builds on itself. IF you get lost or fall behind, ask for HELP!! Peter's office hours are helpful. Also, you are encouraged to take online quizzes in study groups and you can take them more than once. Study sheet to take into final as well!
corrections from statements with PROS: & CONS: I was ment to say FINALS not midterm. You have to pass finals to pass this class and of course you will have to do good on quizzes, midterms, etc... So if you did good on quizzes on midterms and did bad on the final(60/100) like I did you still pass!!
Hard, but great at explaining everything. He is definitely approachable and you get to learn a lot from his bio class. Study hard and it shouldn't be too bad at all. He definitely knows what he's talking about so don't be afraid to ask for help.
Yes, it's a hard class, but it's a really complicated subject; so if you're lazy don't even think about taking this class. Lots of quizzes on ilearn (everything but the final is done on ilearn), a 10 page paper, three midterms, and a final worth 50% of your grade. It's a very interesting class, so if you're up for the challenge, I recommend it.
AMAZING professor. He is very helpful to the students and extends both quizzes and some assignments. Plenty of extra credit opportunities are offered and all your quizzes are done on ilearn. I highly recommend him.
The class is tough. There's a lot of material, but he is very good at explaining and he's funny. All of his quizzes and midterms are online. The quizzes aren't timed with 3 attempts. The midterms are timed with 2 attempts. The final is in class and cumulative. Also, he does iclickr quizzes every class, so it's almost mandatory to be there.
Prof. Ingmire is a great teacher, he's takes questions in a class of 700 students, not many prof do that. The reader is a must but 80 bucks for some printed work book is kinda nuts. Overall he's funny and a great teacher. Take this class!
A helpful, humorous teacher. I-clicker attendance taken every class. Quizzes you have multiple attempts but you will def need them. the 2 essays aren't difficult. I hope the poorly edited $80 reader gets revised; it has a lot of important info. Final is 50% of grade but not too hard. Overall time consuming but interesting class!
Oh my lord, this class is HARD, especially if you aren't a science major. Ingmire is the kind of prof that likes to trick you on his incredibly hard quizzes. This class is a lot of WORK - dont take if you have a big course load. If you bust your butt you can pull an A. I did, but it was haaard work. Interesting subject, though and he can be funny.
This class is the hardest class I have ever taken at SFSU. It's like his aim is for you to fail. The lectures and book are informative but not easily transferable to test taking. I SHOW UP TO EVERY CLASS AND TAKE VERY DESCRIPTIVE NOTES. Still not getting good scores on tests. The only upside- the term paper is a piece of cake. 50%Final. STUDY HARD
The material is boring, book is junk ($80 for photocopied B+W graphs/tables, no pg #s, and it doesnt follow the lectures very well at all-for something designed specifically for this class, they missed the mark), the HW quizzes take hours, and he lectures like everyone already knows the material. Nice guy but not a great teacher, at least for 327.
The class wasn't structured well. I took detailed notes on the lectures and found them to be useless when it came to homework, midterms, and the final. The questions are based on the reader, which wouldn't be a problem if the reader was actually a lecture outline, but The majority of it is material not discussed in class. I wouldn't recommend.
Avoid taking this class if you're not a bio major. Literally one of the hardest classes in state history!! He's very tricky
Class is hard but Prof. Ingmire is a really good lecturer. He offers extra credit and he gives you plenty of resources to do well! I think this class would be near impossible without Bio courses under my belt but its not as if Ingmire doesn't warn students about that day one. I have awful study habits but tried and did extra credit, still got an A.
What a nice person! He curved the grade on final. I got a C for the final and got A- for the final grade. Just keep learning the whole semester and you will be fine.
Dr. Ingmire is a great teacher. Very informative, funny and sarcastic. The class is tough, so be prepared to work hard to get that A. But he offers alot of extra credit and is a great source of info. He's also very flexible about deadlines. Read the reader, attend class, and do your homework and you'll be fine.
The workload is pretty hefty but it's online and open for about a week. Midterms are online and a little hard unless you've put some effort into the homework. Final is a breeze if you study for a week beforehand. Overall, interesting class, cool and polite teacher, only con is the amount of work he gives.
He makes you write 2 essays that are hardly relevant to the many topics he covers in class. Bring your clicker to every class to get points for attendance. Hw is online, due every Thur -- get in the hang of doing that, you'll be fine. Everything he teaches is from the reader. Bring the reader to class and take notes on the margins of the pages.
Incredibly smart and clear professor. Peter's class was definitely my favorite of the semester - very interesting material combined with a fantastic, knowledgable teaching method. Buy an iClicker and attend class every day, maybe do some extra credit too. You will get the grade that you want.
This professor is a tough one, but if you put in the effort there is no reason you shouldn't pass. He is fair and is very flexible with his students. He is very approachable. I would recommend recording his lectures because he does move at a fast pace.
At first this class seemed intense and extremely difficult to receive a passing grade (I'm not a bio major), but everything is online (except a 10 page personal essay term paper, and the final) and you can take each quiz 3 times. You can easily get A's on almost all quizzes/midterms. Gives you a full sheet front and back for final. Not too bad!
Is all about memorization of every little fact, his lectures are very fast and jammed pack with info, he doesn't tell you the right answers on the daily quizes which is unproductive and frustrating, hes a very smart guy but a very poor teacher in my opinion
My dislike for the course comes more from the fact that I thought it would be a lot more interesting. His lecturing is okay, but he does zip through information like a bullet. It's a lot to take in, especially if you're like me and not at all a science person. He's not terrible though. Just a bit frustrating if science isn't your thing.
Nice professor, very flexible on opening homework after the due date to review, BUT the homework is long, expect avg. 2 hours on each one. Due thursday nights iLearn. VERY DEATILED - so read the (poorly edited) reader thoroughly and take exact notes in class from lecture.
is extremely technical and detailed with lots of small details. The subject matter was interesting but he moves through the material too fast and expects you to know ALOT very quickly, hes a cool guy hes just moves too fast. The reader is very poorly written and organized too.
he moves fast and hw is difficult but overall hes a good professor. very intelligent and open-minded just expects you to put in effort
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS... Unless, you are a bio major with no other priorities. I realize that this is a segment three class, but come on Ingmire I have a life. Grading is awful.
He's very rude to student if they ask questions during class about exams, quizzes, etc. He says he tries to accommodate on iLearn for our homework but he always moves the dates around and grades extremely hard.I feel like I'm being graded on my ability to pass a test more than I am on learning the material. Would definitely not recommend .
Absolutely regret taking his class. If you are looking for Segment 3 classes, you are better off with Ivy Chen. Ingmire spent most of the semester teaching biology and quizzing us on our ability to take quizzes. He never posts his lectures online. The only nice thing is he postpones homework assignments if asked.
i took this fall2013, i dont think he was hard, but there were so many assignments. He gives mutiple tries on every assignment, even the tests, so its easy to pass no matter what. attendance is must, since there are clicker questions. EASY class but somewhat time consuming, if you delay doing hw and tests. final is 100 questions, though, but not ha
He puts so much info into each lecture and expects you to know the exact stats of things. The quizzes are testing your ability to read and notice small changes of the facts rather than knowing the material. Attendance is taken by clicker questions. All Qs must be answered in order to receive attendance, miss just one and you're considered absent.
Took this class once a week for three hours so... I do not recommend the once a week class because of the jam-packed information he gives. He is a great teacher and IS OPEN TO ANSWERING QUESTIONS SO DON'T BE SCARED TO. Very intelligent and knows the material but the tests are HARD and is more of application so make sure you're prepared.
Peter is a very intelligent men. However his class is difficult, its way too much information for students to take in with only one semester. He is over detailed which make its very hard for student to actually know which information to focus in on. too many quizzes and homeworks definitely need to narrow down his topics. Do not take this class.
10 quizzes on iLearn that are multiple choice but have multiple answers. 3 attempts but if you ask in class for an extension or an extra try, he will generally give it to you. Tests are easier than the quizzes and the final is cumulative. Study the quizzes and tests for the final. He gives you a 8.5/11 cheat sheet for the final.
This class was not easy, at least the semesters work wasn't. Its not that the professor wasn't good, he's a great professor, quite funny, very knowledgable. Its the material thats most difficult, especially of your are not a bio major. But when it came to the final, that was a breeze. Just show up and pay attention. Work for it and you'll get an A.
You do not have to attend class, but you will probably fail if you do not come. There are a few essays and about 4 tests. The points are not weighted, so it makes the class much easier. I never used the text book, but you need to buy an iClicker. There is homework every week, which is not too hard. If you go to class, stay the whole time.
Professor Ingmire is extremely smart. He actually LOVES biology and explains concepts really into dept. There're are 4 exams which are difficult but he curves a ton, 3 essays that are easily graded, weekly homework, and iClicker in-class points. If you attend every class and stay on top of your assignments you'll get an A. You learned a lot!
Took the class to fulfill an UD requirement and regretted it immensely. He gives a 30ish question quiz every week, 2 midterms, multiple projects with vague instructions. Rude when you email for help. Says as long as you show up for class and "click in" you'll receive participation credit but that's been proven false. Would not recommend to anyone.
just fyi the class is not an easy A/ it is a bio course after all. there were three midterms but they were on ilearn / very lenient with deadlines if enough students tell him. one big paper and a couple of small ones/class was really interesting and challenging at the same time /as long as you show up and read up you should be fine
I do not recommend this specific class (it was incredibly difficult for being a GE requirement--I even had medical students look at my homework and they told me it was very difficult even for them) but I would definitely take Ingmire again. He's funny, replies to emails in a timely manner, and is overall a really nice, sympathetic, pleasant guy.
Peter is a great professor. All of the quizzes and the three midterms were online. He posted lecture slides before the class. There were quizzes every week, but they barely count for the overall grade and they actually help you remember the material. He was also very flexible when it came to assignment due dates.
Do not take this class. Ingmire over loads you with work, and it's extremely hard. I only missed 3 classes the whole semester and did not pass. The home work assignments were too much works. Also he gave us a midterm due the day that we took finals. The 8 page final paper was due 6 weeks into the semester. Please don't take him.
Super great teacher but his BIO 100 class felt way too difficult. He's a tough grader so he curves all the tests, but still, I had to work extremely hard for this class. Otherwise, I learned a lot from him he's super interesting and funny.
Professor Ingmire is an amazing teacher and I loved his class. He makes talking about human sexuality funny and light. There is a lot of work though(homework every week). If you do all the work (all online and all possible to get 100%) then you will do great. Only complaint is we had 3 midterms and our last midterm was due the day before our final.
Although the reader has material used in class and on exams, skip buying it if you plan on attending class and paying attention to his lecture. 3-midterms & weekly hw on ilearn, in class final. You need the iClicker for participation, he is willing to extend assignment due dates if students ask. Some topics are really tough to follow.
This class is the hardest class I've EVER taken in my entire life. His notes don't relate to the homework at all and the homework is super hard. The midterms are even worse. The final is super long and you have such little time to complete it. You will not pass the class if you do not keep up with the course material.
I was worried his Human Sexuality class would be really difficult but I actually learned a lot and enjoyed the class. Just finish the online homework on time, use the book, and attend class and youll pass.
I love peter, he's the nicest person alive! Very helpful and just wants us all to succeed.
peter is a great professor and i can tell he cares about his students
Hard course material (especially for those of us non-bio majors), but if you show up and befriend classmates, getting an A or B is definitely doable. Peter is passionate about the course and if you ask him to reopen any homework/midterm, he will do it. The final exam is worth 35% of the grade but it was nowhere near as hard as I had anticipated.
He lectures for the whole time and basically gives you all the info you need to pass. Iclicker for participation in class so you have to go but you get credit even if you get it wrong. Online homework, midterms and in class final, all MC. Very lenient with deadlines, just ask! He's super cool and makes the class more fun than it would be otherwise.
Doing the homework can be a little frustrating since they're based off of someone else's reader and some questions come from his lectures and if you don't pay attention 100% of the time you can miss an answer. He's really lenient on deadlines if you're okay with asking in front of 300+ people (worth it!). WRITE DOWN THE ANSWERS TO CLICKER Q's!
He is super nice, funny, and interactive however if you don't need this class for your major DO NOT take it, it will seem like molecular biology and so much work for a class that is not even for you major. The homework is extremely hard and due every week and theres like four midterms and a two part final, as well as a midterm due AFTER the final.
My favorite professor at SFSU outside my major. This incredible human shattered so much stigma against groups of people in his Sexualities and AIDS Epidemic class. Although the homework is intense as are the tests, he grades kindly. Students who did poorly ended up with Cs & up. He has enlightened me the most out of any professor and saved my life
Super easy class everything is online on quizlet got a 100 percent on almost every single assignment including midterms, He gets you on the final because he knows everyone goes online so its in class and worth 30 percent of your final grade. Other than that, if you show up and turn in your work in, you're chilling.
Makes his class impossible... to the point where its alittle ridiculous. Took this class as an elective since Im a bio major, and dropped this class the first week since it wasnt worth the stress. In my opinion, The way his HW is structured is directly aimed at making his students fail. Do yourself a fail, unless u need this class take another.
Things I wish I had done the entire semester: -Label main ideas w/ sticky notes as I'm reading the textbook b/c it's difficult to find info while doing the hw. -Take online midterm IMMEDIATELY then use the questions as a study guide (3 online attempts given). -Seriously... label the textbook. Peter is tough but very fair and will work with you.
Ingmire really wants you to succeed. He wants you to understand and appreciate the information, and he will work with the class to make sure everyone is doing as well as they can. It's v hard but satisfying work, and I'm v glad to be taking a class on AIDS during COVID. He's got a lot of empathy. Also, pre-class music is always fun. !Tech-savvy!!
This man assigns a reasonable amount of work, you really need to pay attention unless you can teach yourself.
Great prof, really chill. Class content is really interesting. Quizzes and midterm are super easy, found a lot of it on quizlet. Show up and take notes and you can pass with minimal effort.
Lots and lots of homework and participation. Lectures are quite boring for a human sexuality class.
Peter is truly one of the best professors I've ever had. This class is very intensive and can be extreme for some people, but that just means it's all the more informative. Peter respects all intersections of identities and dispels lots of misogynistic/societal/cultural myths around sexuality. He's a libra too so you know he's smart lol
Peter was such a gem for my class. He was super understanding about online learning and everything going on outside of class. He was open to modifications for assignments and really heard his students. He is lecture heavy so I would definitely recommend paying attention in class. But he is a great professor.
I took Ingmires biology of human sexuality course this fall. I was hesitant due to it being a biology course but this ended up being my favorite class. He is lenient and very understanding and will make adjustments for assignments. Dont be afraid to ask for any help! He is an easy grader and the class environment is very welcoming!! Best teacher
Peter is truly the best Professor on the face of this planet. His human sexuality course has been the most informational and interesting class I've ever taken. I have learned so much from him. He is funny, kind, and understanding. The material is little dense but is interesting enough to want to understand it and then becomes easier. Take him!
Peter was an amazing professor and really helped the students out, especially during the pandemic. He is very generous person when it comes to reopening assignments and others as well. I would for sure take him again. You will love his class and just love him in general. AN AMAZING PROFESSOR
Took him for human sexuality. I was very excited for the course and it was rewarding. Interesting topics, good info. He's very understanding and flexible, especially during COVID circumstances. There wasn't a book, the tests were based off lecture and ?s on weekly hw. Make sure to take notes and make study groups.
PLEASE TAKE HIM! with Covid happening, he made the class very accommodating ! Super easy grader and the class was so much fun! Take him if you get the chance! Pretty sure you'll receive an A as well :)
He's honestly such a gem, took his BIO327 class a few years back was one of my favorite classes in my undergrad. The information in the class was hard to understand but he did his best to help the class really grasp it & learn the concepts. Really values students learning the information above all & was very understanding. Super knowledgeable.
Super lenient/laid back. Extended every assignment we had. Class is always interesting, but sometimes he talks and that day's lecture get's carried to the next meeting. Most assignments were on quizlet, but MC are usually 'select all' so you really got to think. Couple writing assignments that aren't long. Breaks midterms up, 1st part done in class
Prof. Ingmire is a great professor. He is very patient and understanding about the virtual learning. Hes very flexible with deadlines. His main goal is for his students to actually learn. Work load is moderate with short papers. Midterm and final are devided in parts which you get to work with the class for the first part. Great class! Would rec!
Probably the best professor I've taken at this school. He truly cares about his students and actually wants us to learn. He treats you like an adult rather than a student, which is very refreshing. I would recommend him to everyone.
Profesor Ingmire is one of the best Professors on campus. He is very easygoing and is very accommodating to the needs of his students!
Honestly, he is patient, and respect students, but lots of homework and a lot of things need to do to prepare for the exams. And the exams are difficult.
Summer Class (1 month class): Honestly, this class was stressful the entire time. He does curve the exam based on the class average. There was like up to 1-4 hws due every day. 4 Exams & 2 Papers. No exam the first week and a exam each week the next four. Professor Ingmire himself was nice though and is passionate about Human Biology. Easy grader.
Very difficult class.
Professor Ingmire is a very understanding and lenient teacher. However, he was extremely unorganized in terms of the ilearn page and his lack of communication through email, which made the difficult content much harder to grasp. By finals, I had absolutely no clue what was going on. Honestly I don't know how I ended up with an A.
VERY adaptive in regards to due dates and listens to his students' feedback! Read the rubric! He's considering adding a reading material. Smooth sailing until genuine biology for me, but ALWAYS go to lectures as some homework questions are based upon those & not found in the slides. Slides heavy. He's genuinely nice. Ya needa put in the work!
Summer online zoom class. This class is a lot harder than what I was expecting. The whole class is him talking about notes but it is way too much to take in. Lots of homework. There were 5 attempts in the beginning but for some reason now there is only 2. Tests are hard, homework is hard. Almost fail.
The course modules are very unclear a lot of times and it was hard to take notes a lot of the time. There's a lot of quizzes with unclear/vague answers. There's a lot more biological/developmental content than I expected too.
He's super caring! Always willing to accommodate. Attendance is necessary, but if you have friends to get notes you'll be fine. Tests are very hard! but their group tests so sit with smart kids. Online portions of anything are super difficult to be ready. He kinda goes on his own thing, but its overall a pretty cool class.
Peter is very clearly passionate about biology and he wants his students succeed. He's very accommodating. While the material is intimidating, he welcomes questions and is very happy to answer them and expand more on ideas, even if loosely related. Honestly loved his bio class! (My grade was cause of life stuff unfortunately lol)
Prof. Ingmire is a flexible and understanding teacher who truly wants students to learn. With accommodating policies and Quizlet resources, the class is manageable. Unstuck study ai can also be a helpful study tool alongside other prep.
Very forgiving, wants you to pass. Need an extension on every assignment?Even one from a month ago? Just ask for one. Attendance not mandatory, but missing a lecture will be rough because he goes over a a lot and is extensive. Take him if you get the chance you wont regret it, especially with a heavy course load.
