His tests are too dang hard. That's all.
tests are friggin hard
His expectations are way too high.
Worst math teacher ever had, WAY too hard and not clear
Smart guy, but tests are too difficult for the level they are meant for.
Bad teacher!!! i hate him he should quit

teaching at its worst, reluctant to do problems, especially ones which appear to be difficult, mediocre explanations (covers the main material, but ask a question and prepare to be insulted) tests are harder than they should be avoid his class at all cost
NO HOMEWORK AND TEST ARE A LITTLE HARDER THAN EXPECTED. TEACHER TOO CONCERNED WITH TIME AND NOT LEARNING, DOESNT TAKE TOO MANY QUESTIONS
He is the the worst math teacher EVER! Very knowledgable in math, just not a good teacher. Cannot teach what-so-ever, never give HW, doesnt' do great with examples. Does exmaples ALREADY given in the book. Tests are HARD! Stay AWAY FROM HIM!
He is Freaking ambiguous and hard. DROP IT NOW! it's not too late. NO hw HARD tests. DO NOT TAKE THIS DUDE. Never Take ASIAN Math teacher cuz they are too good at math so they do not teach well.
Get out of his class now!
Never have I ever had a teacher as HORRIBLE as this guy!By the end of the semester, about 10 people were left because this guy was so terrible.Everyone dropped his class! If you are in his class, GET OUT NOW!!

GOD BLESS U EVERYONE. ALWAYS PRAY BEFORE ENTERING THE CLASS.
talks to fast, doesn't care if you dont get it, doesn't get the material across
i admitedly suck at math but this guy doesnt make it any easier. very hard to understand him speaking and even harder to follow his lessons. only take his class if you already know how to do math because you wont learn a thing.
he doesn't speak english, his tests are based on knowledge acquired in higher math levels, extremely complicated. he is sooo vague and useless as a techer. take murray for math2, he is the best
At all costs DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! I received an "A" in Precal & had a 3.7+ undergrad GPA & I still found this class IMPOSSIBLE.You need previous, ADVANCED knowledge of Calculus to pass this class. No HW, he PURPOSELY tries to stump you on te
ANY math class by him is BAD~ DO NOT TAKE HIM~! DROP NOW~!
he is awful...you cant understand a word this guy says and everyone in the class failed the first three tests...dont torture yourself
good thing i had previous calc experience. like everyone said, you can't understand his english, he's a VERY poor teacher, and aims to stump.
if you're Korean, take this guy- he'll give you an A, especially if you're an international student. He's VERY intelligent, but he's also too insensitive to the needs of students. If you want a challenging teacher that also cares, take Taka. Lee is fr
This teacher is worst teacher i have ever see. All he tries to do is fail students. If you pass his class i will solute you.
i don't get it at all..i had him last fall for diff. equation. dude, it wasn't that bad..my friend and i both got As, and the one of midterms was exactly same as sample test he gave us. Also, he is very intelligent.
professor Lee seems like he wants us to fail. He tells us not to ask questions and then doesn't understand why we don't get what he is teaching us. He knows the math, but doesn't realize that we are just learring! HORRIBLE!
DON'T take this teacher. However, if you done advanced math before then you should be able to keep uo with him. When I took him in summer 2004,he just went over everything in the sections. Even though,we asked questions but he never cared if we understand
So he's not helpful at all and he gets annoyed when you ask questions, jokes arent funny, makes americans look dumb, he teaches as if you KNEW the material already, his grades are ONLY based on test and final, not helpful,WARNING DO NOT TAKE HIM AT ALL!!!!
Pro. Lee is not that bad. Just study and do not miss his class lectures;do ask questions and you will do just fine. Got an A as a final grade.
this teacher is definitly the worst math teacher on the face of the planet!! He is hard, and makes his students feel stupid. If you take this class your confidence in math will drop dramatically. ifu are in his class GET OUT OF THE CLASS NOW!!!
Horrible! He doesnt teach nearly at the level he teaches. He doesnt assign homework, so I read every section and did every odd problem, and I still got a D on his exams, I had to drop with a W. Do not take him!
Prof Lee is the worst math teacher that i have had. he goes over everything as if you know the stuff already his tests are super hard!!! when he teaches he is vague!! he doesnt like answering questions and makes the student feel dumb!! dont take him!!
this guy is REALLY messed up i dont understand why he is still teaching.
Don't Take Him!!!! He is very bad. It seems that he got punked when he was little, and now he wants to take it all upon the students. His exams cover everything that he covers and everything he doesn't cover in class. How can he still be teaching?

Every1 who said he was a bad wasn't tak'n the same teacher I am now. This guy is so funny b/c he tries to be funny but he isn't. He does care if you understand, he answers questions if you ask them. He goes over each type of ? that will be on the test step by step. pay attention...
If you love math take this guy. If you are only meeting prereqs, RUN AWAY!! If you get him buy extra textbooks and GET PLENTY OF TUTORING! Also, Take copious notes as much of his metodology is his own and is NOT covered in the book. Again, non-math majors think twice, then think again!!!!
Good professor! His tests aren't difficult. You can fully understand Mathematics, if u take his class. I get A in his tests.
Taking a class from this guy is like having your learner's permit for about a week and then being expected to drive on the freeway by yourself. Have fun crashing and burning! It not his fault, he is incapable of teaching any other way. But he's got to wonder why 75% of the class dropped. SUX!!!
I completed 100 units at SMC. Lee was the worst teacher, not because of the difficulty, but his pleasure in making students feel inferior. Gives preferential treatment towards Korean students. If the class drop rate is an indication of teaching ability, this guy should be tarred and feathered.
Hmm, is there more than one Peter Lee who teaches math? Becuase the Peter Lee I had was excellent! He's very funny, his class is entertaining, and I got an A. That in itself says a lot-- an A and math do not mix, for me, at all, ever, until now! study and you do well.
Robotic students will do well in this guy's classes. Robots are programmed, human beings are taught. If you are the latter, I would suggest a different instructor. He is really not a bad guy, he's just a robot disguised as a human.
This class reminded me of childhood when my mom threw me in a lake and said, "sink or swim." This time around, I was thrown into this pit of mathematics and sunk miserably to my demise, while Peter Lee burst with sinister laughter, brandishing his pitchfork at the very death of his fellow students
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!If you like threats of failing the class, this is the guy for you.First of all he has a strong accent so its hard to understand him. Second, half of his lectures are on things that you should not do. "don't do this" is his famous quote in the class. nice guy, hard to pass.
Studied everyday for his midterm and bombed it. While handing back midterms, he slammed mine on my desk and said "must do better," making me look bad in front of this fine ass girl that was diggin me prior to the midterm. Now she ain't gonna give me none. He a playa hater cuz I good lookin'
i took a class equivalent to this in another school that didnt transfer. he confused me with methods i had already learned. however, went to him for help numerous times. i bombed quite a bit on my tests but still left a class with a B.
Worst math teacher ever, confusing, and yes he teaches what "not to do" instead of how to do it. Test are hard and confusing with problems not covered in class. Do not take him
Not very encouraging, recommends that students drop the class if they don't do well on the first midterm. Why not recommend that we study harder?
OH, NO!!! this teacher was not helpful to the students. makes test harder than they are and does not like to answer homework questions. he is a rushy teacher and wastes no time in going quickly through chapters.
this guy's a horrible teacher.he refuses to help you in class unless you are very assertive, but even then he gets irritated and tries to make you feel stupid for even having to ask the question.he's patronizing and expects you to read his mind.Mr. Lee is a disgrace to the tecahing profession.
DO not take him. God he has seriously made me lose interest in mathematics. Try not to take him unless you have no other option(thats what happened to me and i am suffering now). can't understand what he says in class. just runs through the book like we already know everything. DO NOT TAKE!!
I took his math7 before.I don't know it's because math15 is easy or what, Lee's Math15 is pretty easy.Good thing about him is he never takes attendence and his tests are pretty easy.If you see him in person, he will answer every question you ask. a very nice guy
It was such an easy class. I got an A easily. Also, he is a nice guy. My friend got 60 on the first midterm, but he got an A because he did well on the rest of midterms and the final.
hey people! Professor. Lee's classes are easy!!study his sample tests! And go to every class..what is so hard about his class? the easiest math 13 class at SMC!! If you do not get good grades on the midterms, then do well on the final..
Dummies, I tell you people that he is an easy teacher in math. But u gotta know that math is a tough subject. Even though teacher is very nice, u can still fail the course. He is easy on grading (a lot of partial credits) and straight forward proofs on the test. I would recommend him to those people who study on their own.
His tests are not hard, but he takes off too much points for mistakes. He's not a good grader. He's funny and helpfull to answer to questions at his office hours.
i could not understand a word he was saying, and there were too many times when the students had to correct him on problems we worked on during class
tarrable teacher does not explain well gives test without reviewing.
This Class SUCKS! waste of time
avoid this teacher! he is not a fair grader and he isn't pedagogic at all. it is not in his interest to help and pass the students! pick only if you have no other choice!
First of all, his tests are hard. If u do sample test and understand it completely, that would really help to do well on the test. I recommand his class to those people who likes to do their own. He does not care about attendence and there's absoultley No Homework. I really hate his corny joke.
He's a good guy, but if you're not good in math, then DO NOT take him. He gives 5 test, no homework, but u don't really understand how to do things, since he will teach u like 1000 different ways to do a proble. If you're good at math then go ahead,IF NOT DO NOT TAKE HIM. He makes jokes sometimes. Hes seem ok for independent learners.
Prof. Lee is OK.He put stuff on the test differently than he explained in class.I went 2 tutoring b/c I didn't undestand something, and he made me feel sooo stupid. There was like 40 students in the beggining and we ended with about 15-20. I would not take him again.Hes not that lenient either.5 test at 15 percent each and the final is 40 percent.
really kind and helpful, available as and when you require help. i highly recommend him! as long as you attend classes and practise your sums, it's a totally easy A!
You will not understand one word he says. If you are extremely bad at math, just get a tutor...hes test are not THAT hard because he tells you exactly whats going to be on it. The way he grades makes the class easy. He drops your lowest test and then averages your two highest and replaces the lowest with the average. 55% is tests. 10% HW. 35%final
This teacher is horrible. Does not explain things well. He expects you to be PERFECT. Dont take unless you have no choice.
I am sure he would be a great professor during a regular semester but during the summer, he is HORRIBLE. He does not explain things well and becomes impatient with people when they ask questions. It might have something to do with being rushed through the 6 weeks but I would absolutely not recommend him for short semesters.

although his class is really tough, i love it because he is so hilarious
what s wrong with people? if u cant or refuse to learn, it s not a teacher's fault. he s an awesome guy. class is tough, but very easy tests if you just do his samples online. insanely smart i have to say. always willing to help. best math teacher u can have in SMC
He made the material harder than it really was, but after his class, many of my ohter classes have been easy, because he over prepared the class. He draws sad faces in the zeros ...ha!
Peter Lee is a great professor. His descriptions are very clear, and he will go far out of his way to to give you the help you need if you take the time to seek it from him. Tests are challenging, but not too hard as long as you do all of the examples in his notes. Honestly he's one of the best profs I've had at SMC.
He is an Asian style math teacher - harder than American style teacher. But thats why I enjoyed this class. I recommend you to take his class if you like spicy questions.
just ignore this guy below me. peter lee is a really good professor and really cares for his students. Show him you are trying hard and he will indeed help u out. Math is always hard, and all this negative comments must have come from not very hardworking or just dumb students... PETER is the MAN!
he is the best math teacher i hv ever met! yea, it is true that his class is hard!! but if u wanna learn math, take him!! u will learn more than u have expected! my math has improved a lot after i took his math 7 class!! he is so patient to teach me during his office hour. and just dun be lazy!!
i love Professor Lee! i got a 40% on my first test and ended up with an A in the class. if you stick with him and try hard you can get a good grade in his class. i learned so much from him, and his class is really enjoyable. he has the greatest sense of humor. watch out for spicy problems, sad faces, and pieces of meat!
worst teacher.the class started with 28 students and only 6 left before final.his tests are impossible. avoid him at any cost
funny, and cool professor
He is really good teacher. Very Fair grader. if you want to learn smthing and also if you want good grade take him. If you do your homeword this class is easy. He challenges you. so you'll learn smthing too. Really nice, helpful, fair grader and fun teacher.
worst teacher I've ever had. I kept saying every time in class. This is a really really bad teacher. he's hard to understand, doesn't explain things well at all
i agree worst prof. i have ever had! i dread going to his class..you have to buy the book for around 100 dollars and we havent used it once. If you ask a question he belittles you in front of the entire class and his jokes are lame. DONT TAKE HIM!
yes i agree, this teacher is mean. I did not like his class and many people had difficulty. if you ask a question, he cannot answer it properly and then he makes fun on the student! crazy.
I agree with everyone here. This is absolutely the worst teacher I've had in my life. He is not helpful at all so i do not recommend him.
good teacher. you need to have a strong base. not that many people finish the class. does not give you homeworks and relies heavily on handouts. tests are hard. but the final was ok.
If you love Mathematics, you will love this teacher. His approaches to problems are not the standard textbook approaches. I think that he is one of the best math teachers on campus. My major problem with him is that his chalkboard presentation is very disorganized. He goes fast, so it hard to take good, organized notes.
the beauty of Prof. Lee's teaching he that he is not a by-the-textbook teacher. He demonstrates in lecture innovative, and non-textbook approaches to the problems. I literally get a high watching him teach. Math is a subject which disciplines the mind; if you put effort in. I'm considering taking lower math classes just because he's teaching!
lee's class was horrible. he thinks he knows everything and his chalkboard teaching is horrid. you cant understand him because of that heavy accent and when he tries to crack jokes he just looks stupid because its not funny
D0N`T TAKE THIS CLASS !! this teacher is the WORST teacher EVR !! often confuses himself during a problem. Also,if u use hw to help u practice, don`t take this class because there is none, he it too lazy to grade it. don`t think about asking questions cause he`ll either say i dont know or make fun of for not already knowing it.DON`T CHOOSE HIM !!!
I am warning you.... do not take this class. Peter Lee is the worst teacher at SMC. the worst teacher... without a doubt, the worst teacher I have ever had.
I truly love math....But in my opinion, this guy sucks....I couldn't understand this guy at all, and above all....he's a friggin idiot. I can't stand his jokes. Don't take this teacher. Take either Professor Jiang or Professor Terry Green, because they know how to teach.
do not take if you do not have a SOLID base in the subject. HE goes very fast, wants you to "struggle" (his words), challenging a student is great, but he makes it impossible. More than half the class dropped, the only ones who stayed had taken the class before. I learned alot, but if you are trying to transfer your grade might be at stake!
Well...I took this class durring the summer and wow, he talks and goes over the chapters faster than the speed of sound. I did not know if he was talking english or Korean at some parts of the class. And his example problems are SO hard and long they take up the entire board left to right..I was stressing the 2nd day, and I LOVE MATH! DONT TAKE!
ok, i dont know what are you guys thinking are saying about LEE, but i took his class on summer and how can i say that he was the best teacher i've ever had? he's funny, fair, cool and innocent. i guess if you want to learn math and get a good grade next to it, u have to take him! i really recommand him! best ever)))
I don't know what is wrong with this people. Professor Lee is funny and active, and he cares about each of the students. If u want to add Math2, take it with him. Don't even try to go with others like Graves!!! Take him, learn something and get your A.
GREAT I LOVE THIS PERSON!!!!! TAKE UR MATH2, AND PASS IT WITH EASY A.
I took 2 classes with this person, and he's hilarious. Funny and intresting class.
This math class is the longest class i've ever had to endure. The teacher loses the attention of the class within the first half hour. People leave after forty-five minutes and he doesn't even say anything. He will repeat the same stupid question over and over again even if someone answers. He just talks to the board and doesn't teach.
Horrible teacher. Too fast paced and does not answer question. Thinks he's funnier than he really is. Don't take him.
Horrible!!! Worst math teacher ever. He limits students questions to no more than 2 per class. He teaches his classes using his notes and doesn't explain the material well. He makes stupid jokes and gets annoyed when students ask questions, and he can be very rude sometimes. I recommend you NOT to take his class.
NO NO NO NO, Please, I beg you guys. I took his class in the past Fall in the morning. He thinks he knows a lot and he always ignore you. Tests are really hard and he doesn't care about your HW.I begged him to drop me with W. He didn't even pay attention. Finally I doped with the help of a counselor.
At first, didn't like him, but in the end, he is a really good teacher. Wish I could take him for Math 7, but he's teaching it late at night in spring. I'd feel really good going into Calculus with him as a prof. I never asked him many questions, but whatever I asked he answered. Has practice exams on his website, VERY helpful. Thanks, Mr Lee!
it's not a easy class, but not impossible to receive a good grade. i've learned lots and enjoyed his class very much. only take him if you are ready to put some effort.
prof Lee is hilarious! This is a class where you need to stay on the ball with homework and studying. Their is a midterm about every 2 weeks, and you go quickly through the material. He goes off on little tangents and is easily distracted when he lectures. Class is mainly lecture. Make sure you study everyday, no procrastinating or you will suffer
TAKE HIS CLASS!! HIS TEACHING IS VERY CLEAR AND IS EASY TO LEARN ALGEBRA! HE GIVES U EXTRA CREDIT IF YOU SOLVE PROBLEMS IN A RIGHT WAY. HE IS FUNNY, TOLERANT GOOD TEACHER. IF U DO UR HW, THIS COURSE IS EASY TO GET AN A^^
Honestly this teacher is hard, but teaches pretty well and really tries to help u understand. He's really nice, but if u decide to take his precal class get ready to do some major studying. SERIOUSLY. If math is your weekness DON'T take this class you will get lost for sure.
EASINESS IS BASED ON CLASS NOT THE PROFESSOR. Taken over the 6 week session Professor Lee was awesome. Knowledgeable, will answer your questions, prepares you fully for the his tests. Highly recommended.
Professor Lee is a great teacher. He is funny and explains everything in a way that you'll need for your next math class. If you have any questions raise your hand, and he'll go over it as many times as you need. Talk to him after class if you need extra help. He was a great Math professor. I recommend him, especially if your new to math.
He says that you can ask only two questions per class AS A JOKE. Tough teacher but you need it if you want to go to higher-level math. A really good mix of higher-university level and junior college level teaching.anyways If you think his class is WAY too hard, then you shouldn't go beyond Math 07.
If you read his notes you will be well prepaired for his exam.
His teaching is not clear. He says even if we dnt understand,we cnt ask him.Weird accent, notes are not useful. His jokes are not funny.Do not take him. He is the worst teacher u can ever get.Very unhelpful & unwilling to help students with questions. He says we should go home and learn it ourself.even if we dnt understand,we have to say we understand
Nice guy. Extremely willing to help. Answers questions thoroughly. Does not go by book and tells you up front. It is a tough class and his tests are tough. Not an easy grader. Extremely knowledgeable. Recommended for those who are REALLY good at math and wish to go on in math.
Took him for Spring 09. Makes fun of himself often in class. Very goofy. VERY Fast-paced lecture on his handouts. No HW. Tests can be a little tricky. But if you get the overall concepts you will do just fine.
Knows the material, Cannot teach it well. His tests are brutal and he likes it like that. Be prepared to study your ass off, and use study groups. not a professor to snooze through.
Taking this Prof right now. His tests are the worst I've ever seen. He deliberately takes the most absurd and hardest problems he can find. Some of the problems are nowhere to be found in the textbook, extremely hard, I have a C now, but I doubt ill pass. He makes up some of it by being a generous grader.
bad teacher will not help you.....very rude...does not know how to teach lower level classes...bad grader....dont take him
ooohhh.....do not take him...SMC's worst teacher ever, infact worlds worse teacher..do not take him even if you need that class cus u will never pass his class,,take green best of all
Oh man I crashed this class cause i needed it bad. Gets really hard no hw and really slow teaching the easy stuff and now towards the end we do 2 sections everyday. YIKES never again. calls you out in class too telling class who has good scores and low scores. class started with max 36 students now has about 10 do not take him
Pros: No hw, doesn't really care about attendance, teaches most of the material well Cons: Can be rude, rambles on way too much, his tests are the hardest of the hard with unnecessarily large numbers, spent way too much time on early material now since hes behind is blazing through last chapters, tries to embarrass you. Bottom line: take dif prof
A really great teacher if you like math. Hardly ever uses a text book. Very enthusiastic and funny. If you don't like math to begin with, you'll probably be irritated by him. One of the best teachers I've had. A little disorganized though.
If you are the type of student that needs a interactive teacher in order to better learn material or just learn in general, this is not your guy. He tries to make jokes but they get old, annoying and unnecessary. He does not help you in class even though he says he is open to questions. He is difficult to understand. Not worth it.
This class doesnt seem bad at all, so he's not the greatest comedian ever? School is for learning not for jokes, nd well he explains the problems when i asked him for help. No HW, yet i would recommend going through the examples and STUDY.
Precalculus with this teacher is ineffective. I reccommend a lot of studying. He doesn't give homework and his tests aren't hard but understanding his lesson plan is nearly impossible. He expects you to do a lot on your own.
He is very knowledgeable in the material. However he assumes that you are too. His class is very easy for SMART people. If you struggle at math, DO NOT take him. His grading scale is top heavy. A= 87+, B= 75+, C= 65+, D= 60+. That may sound easy, but if you struggle at math, its very easy to get an F. 2/3 of the class has already dropped. No HW.
No, just no.
Not helpful, Not caring, Not a good math professor, not recommended! JUST NOT!!
i got an A in precalc and counldt follow the guy. in theory his teachin method is good, he doesnt teach, he spouts. speaks and writes a million words/probs a minute and expects u to be with him every step of the way like u have a PhD. for some odd reason, he revels in the fact that more than half his class ends up dropping out every semester...
I got an A on Math 2, But this prof is impossible... He gives me a headache and confuses me every class. It is a NIGHTMARE. Don't take him... Maybe that way they will fire him someday
Took this teacher for math 20 and I must out of my head or simply dumb for taking him again for math 2. He pretends to look at the roster to choose a student to answer the problem but he only looks at the first person on the list, which was me! He does this again for the next problem and the next and so on. He'll try to embarrass you. He expects yo
This professor gives you the class's first exam on the 3 meeting of the semester... Isn't that absurd!! One advise to you, this guy will f you so be aware..
Beware of this Professor! Here's a list of all the negatives: -has a heavy accent -expects you to know a lot! (I took the placement test and placed in this course and it doesn't seem to be enough for this class) - lets class out late everyday -gets mad when you don't understand an example -teaches you a simple example but tests you on an extremely difficult problem (In fact, some test problems we've never discussed before but he expects you to already know) Positives: -Rarely takes attendance.
If you like Math, take him and get an A. This professor will make you like Math much more than before. He teaches what other teachers never teach. And they are really helpful to understand easily. If you get an A from him, you won't be afraid of Math 8 or higher class for sure. I'm sad he teaches only Math 7 or lower.
Good teacher ..... If u do well in final... U will get A…
math 31, an let me tell you, if you?re a good math student; like you only make 1 mistake per 20 problems... Then this is your guy. Otherwise if you?re a regular math student, who makes a fare mistake or 2; I wouldn?t recommend you take this teacher
Peter lee is hilarious, but above all a good teacher. He will get you ready for the next course. He got me interested in numbers, taking math 2 now.
He's harsh! Period. Never uses the Text** but your only grade in his class are the test. SO if you do bad on the test well THATS your new grade:((. Also if you dont know your DECIMALS and FRACTIONS well, yall fail thee course. Those are thee only numbers he uses to test you with.( HE's HIGHLY INTIMEDATING &HALF his class has already dropped Asusual
THIS TEACHER is only for those who are GOOD in MATH already. HE's Not for those Trying to Brush upp and become better math students little by little. SO IF YOUR JUST GOOD IN MATH BECAUSE NUMMBERS ARE YOUR THING TAKE HIM. BUT notice most of the ppl who commmented that like him say " there already good in math an things are simpler now!!!" NOTICE!!!
Professor Lee is one of the best teachers I've ever had. Yes, his classes aren't easy and you really have to work to get an A, but you'll know the material better than anyone. If you like being challenged in order to become a better student then this is your guy, if you don't like to work hard then you may want to reconsider your college goals.
It requires a lot of self-discipline to pay attention in class AND use the worksheets on his homepage. He goes quickly over material in class, so go to his office hours. His problems are harder than the ones in the book DO THE WORKSHEETS. If syllabus says he drops lowest test grade REMIND HIM. Talk to him if you need to pass and he'll help you out.
I thought teachers were supposed to help you to learn new things. He teaches you very basic math, but once the test shows, hope you prayed to god the night before because you would really need him at the time. This isn't even including that your Math grade is solely based on 60-80 questions if you miss 20 of those well do the Math. :)Good LUCK!
Mr Lee is awesome! He is a great teacher and a super funny teacher. Even though his lectures are quite fast pacing and the test can be a bit challenging; Mr Lee is there to help. Great teacher! c:asdf
It's a class for people who want to fly and not swim.If you're looking to cruise through his class because you think you're gifted then you're in for a surprise. Great techniques in math that takes frustrating hours to learn; but the eventual result will be GRATIFYING.
Go into this class a bad math student; and if you work hard, you'll come out of this challenge more competent and skilled in math.Put away your ego and work hard. No free rides or swimming in his class. You'll have to fly or sink. Study his notes; they will be more relevant during the test.
He is a great teacher. His lecture is clear and fun, and he will help you not to memorise all of the formulas. He will try to make you understand all of the concepts. He rarely checks attendance, but don't be absent(it is the first step to get an A in this class).
He uses his OWN method. if you're natural in math, take him. if your major consists of taking higher levels of math, take him. don't take his tests lightly. he's a brilliant man yet can't explain easily to those NEW students. you need to know MATH language. if you fail his midterm 0, drop him. you simply aren't ready and do not belong there.
I like his class. we did't need the book for his lecture because we used the notes. It's not hard to get an A if you are good at math. However, for students whose math is not that strong, they need to work really hard. make sure to understand everthing for his lecture then you will be fine. Otherwise, blame yourself. highly recommend!
he will help you understand and memorize the formulas. it is so great because you dont need to learn by heart. even you can not get a good grade, you still happy because you can learn a lots from him. I love him so much
AWESOME!! If you are good at math, he is great. If not, be warned. His tests are a little more challenging but if you go to class and study a little, an A should be no problem. And you will be in great shape for Calc. Class is very relaxed. You can do whatever you want as long as you aren't disruptive. He doesn't take attendance or assign homework.
His lectures don't follow logical order, I had to teach myself. Hard tests 100% of grade. He's hard but fair, doesn't put up with slackers. Also, he doesn't spend enough time on PreCalc review for his Calc I class.
meh. took him for summer 2012. he is a funny guy. and know his math. he doesn't really seem helpful. I would look for another professor. his tests are fair, but can be hard. overall, he is slightly less than decent.
I am not good at math but I got an A in this class. He doesn't grade homework. Only tests. He never used the book so don't waste your money. If you really pay attention in class you will understand the material. He is helpful if you ask for it! I studied maybe a total of 3-4 hours the entire semester. He grades final in your favor.
Lee is not a bad professor, in the beginning I was intimidated because I knew his class was not going to be easy, but I got a descent grade at the end so I cannot complain. If you want to pass his class do not miss any days and do all the practice exams. He gives no homework, rarely takes attendance so you have to have a lot of self discipline

how i got an A: DO ALL THE ONLINE NOTES HE POSTS, make sure you understand the logic behind EACH and EVERY problem. enter the AMATYC contest and try to get at least 5 right. study previous AMATYC problems posted on his site. also do practice midterm. any problems you're struggling with, go to the book for extra practice; graphing arcsin, arctan etc
At first, he frightens the class. He makes it a point to scare off those who are not suitable to survive in his class. By no means is he easy. However, he has challenged me and turned me into a math enthusiast. I HIGHLY recommend taking Lee if you are up to the challenge. You will fall in love with his class if you are prepared for the endeavor.
He is a funny guy, but he can be a little faced paced. He didnt use the book for my class so dont waste your money, only if you want to do the math lab hours online then go ahead. He grades prety fairly. Just be in class pay attention and your only homework is to study.
He only gives test, so if your a horrible test tacker like myself don't take this class. I knew this class was going to be difficult but i was determined to keep trying. I would go to office hours almost every day and study at home. He helps in office hours understand the material but it didnt help enough. When it came to the test i still did bad.
Funny jokes to keep class entertained. Some of the stuff lectured wasnt even on most of the tests which were fairly hard. Not really a fan of his style of teaching, strictly lecture/test nothing else.
Where do i start? This guy seriously rambles on and on about his life, and he seriously compares everything to food (GO Figures), and O on his test it's not whether or not you got the answer right it is based upon if you did it in his manner. Seriously spare your time with this guy this class is only good if your setting yourself up for failure.
Great guy with a respectable sense of humor, but he openly admits he makes his problems difficult (yet short). I took Calculus I twice before and got a 'B' both times so I can't see why he needs the course to be so demanding. He hardly even used the book except to monitor progress through various topics.
Mr. Lee is pretty good, he knows his math; however, I do not think knows how to teach others, he assumes that everyone already knows everything that his course provide, and sometimes he gets mad when you ask him a questions. "Best question is no question"
If you are a new student or have not been in school for a good while I would not recommend this instructor. He never asked the students to open the book and gave homework once or twice. He shows you 4 to 5 ways to solve a problem in each section which can be very confusing. He creates his own test and says its hard because he wants you to think.
He definitely knows what's he talking about, but if you want to maintain a good GPA absolutely don't take his class. The methods he uses are nowhere to be found, he doesn't assign any exercise and he makes his own tests with exercise that are not on the book. During lectures he doesn't explain anything and gives all the content for granted.
Noticeable accent but otherwise spoke ok English. I took him over the summer. Do not take him for wintersummer. Dude's smart, but his tests are ridiculous. When a student showed him her work on a problem she didn't understand, he said it was incorrect and pretty much just called her dumb in front of class. His fast explanations not clear enough.
He would never review any of the homework. did not assign any homework AT ALL.
Literally the worst class, ever. If class started at 7:00am, he'd start the class as soon as he storms in the room AKA 6:40 or 6:50am. He wants you to learn HIS way of how he understands math. He does easy problems on the board and hard problems on the test. NEVER reviews work and only had 1 homework assignment, im glad I got dropped. Lol
Professor Lee is a very funny person but he gets off topic easily. He also makes sure you really understand the material before moving on to the next. Unfortunately, his test are very challenging and he is a tough grader.
Worst!! Teacher!! Ever!!! He gives easy problems During lectures and insanely hard problems on the test. He hardly gives hw which means that his hard tests are worth even more. You're better off taking someone else.
The professor teaches quick and at time is confusing. .The class is his domain, and he wants every one to learn his way. .If you dont asks he wont explain. .
Worst Teacher ever, his tests are super hard, he does not assign any homework, so he expects that you learn everything on your own.
short 10 question tests that are made tough on purpose to make you a more logical thinker and prepare you for the next course. he's in the computer lab weekly and will help you 1 on 1 if you seek him out. most of all he's down right hilarious..
Great professor. He is tough but because he wants you to have good fundamentals for future courses, MATH 84 is just the beginning. Very clear in his explanations, if you ask he repeats the material over and over again. He teaches easy methods for complicate calculations. Funny and entertaining. TAKE HIM.
Professor Lee is one of the best professors at West LA College. He wants you to learn, and he expects you to study. I am glad I have the opportunity to take Pre-Calculus with him since my goal is to learn. Hi does his job well since he explains very well. It is the student's job to go home to study. He is respectful, serious and very knowledgable
He explains the little problems and then when the tests comes.. bam! Gives you Calculus type problems. He only lectures, so if you learn better doing group work and class work, I suggest you don't take him.
Professor Lee was a terrible professor. Not only does he not show up for office hours, but he also will not even attempt to help you after or during class. He gives 5 Midterms that are about 10 questions, and gives zero credit for work shown if the answer is wrong. No option for extra credit. Do not take if you tend to struggle with math.
He is a tough grader no doubt, but if you really come to class and pay attention you will pass his class, it isn't that hard. His class starts out full and people drop bc they give up, but if you stick with him he will help you! Plus he is funny and sweet
Professor Lee was a terrible professor. He gives 5 Midterms 10 questions each, and gives zero credit for work shown if the answer is wrong. No option for extra credit. He's not clear with his lectures! Drop the class before its to late..
I took Lee P 2 times for differents classes. He's Amazing, explain everything. Ask him when you dont understand, he'll take time for show you more. Never miss his class because his lecture is important. The same exemple or exercise come back to test. Pay attention to the long exercises because you will see the exact exercise on test.
Professor Lee gives no homework. You have two textbooks that you never use. The way he teaches does not match the text book. He is so slow with the easy stuff. Then when it comes to the hard material he goes way too fast. Then on the tests all of the hard material is on the test.
He doesn't teach from the book and his test are more difficult than what you'd expect. I have tried to review with the book but it just gets confusing. The test are short and there is no homework so you'd have to take extensive notes in order to study. You don't really need the textbook but you may need the online code to complete the lab hours.
does not take roll, only once a month. attendance is not mandatory AT ALL. No homework only once in the semester and no test/quizzes maybe once. Basically all midterms the whole semester! Teaching wise he's funny but moves too fast. Easy grade if you cheat like most kids did. Can fail all semester & pass if you pass the final midterm
he is a good teacher tells jokes and will answer any question u ask, he lets u put problems up on the board that u may have not understood maybe thats why his lectures take so long. he gave extra credit once and takes attendance once a month both he does after the break in between my 2 hour class
The BEST WAY TO LEARN MATH. I COULD LEARN THING THAT I NEVER UNDERSTOOD BEFORE.
Not only does he not cover anything in the book, but he goes on and teaches lectures that are not even part of the subject. I was in his Pre-Calc class and he gave a lecture on Calculus. Then expected us to know everything for the test. He also, gave us a study guide and it doesn't help you with the midterms at all.
Super easy class Doesnt give much homework Long lectures Overall pretty cool
He does not go by the textbook & has his own materials online that you NEED to download & bring to class. Always on his pace & if you don't ask, he will assume you get it. His office hours are useless because he will explain without making sure if you understand. You basically have to study on your own. Take him if you're up for the challenge.
Unless you know a lot about the subject you plan taking, do NOT take him. This was a fairly easy class but the material seemed so much harder than it was because of him. He talks a lot during lessons and only answers questions very few often. It was hard to understand him sometimes I spent a lot of time w/ a tutor and still barely passed.
he constantly changes the dates when tests are assigned I failed one because I was absent the day before and was not prepared, I spent $200 for a book we NEVER used, tests are usually only 10 questions and you will get marked down if you don't answer them specifically how he wants he's a sweet old man but I wouldn't take him again
He made us pay 200$ for a textbook we never use. He has his own questions on his own website. His teaching method is tooooo different from other professors which makes me confused all the time. BTW all of the Korean students get A's on the tests except others, funnily the professor is Korean too. I don't know whether they know his style or not.
One of the worst professors I've ever had. When you take a test/quiz you need to show the process on how you got the answer. If it's wrong you get no points. Book is worthless hardly use. Don't take him
Lectures confusingly. Does not let you make up any points. No homework. Makes humorless jokes throughout class.
I was a little wary about taking Prof Lee during the summer, because of his RMP rating. Luckily I was proved wrong: he is a great teacher, funny, and teaches great tricks for math. If you ask questions and want to go over work, he's fine with that but don't be too pushy on how much. Uses his own wrkshts from online for all work in class. Great Prof
He teaches by his own material that is found online not by the book. If you do not ask questions he will assume everyone understands and moves on to the next topic. He is difficult so you will have to seek help outside the class.
Recommended to print out notes for lectures.
His teaching style is very different from other professors. Never uses the textbook so dont bother getting them if you only need math 7 for your major (but if you need more maths then just get it). His exams are very similar to the examples he has on his notes and the sample tests that you can find in his website. Overall a good professor.
Definitely not a good professor.
Avoid at all costs. He spends a full lecture breaking down easy equations, just to put the hard ones on the quiz. He gets mad if you don't ask questions; then proceeds to get frustrated once you do have a question. Terrible professor.
He is a great professor.
THE WORST CLASS I'VE EVER TAKEN! Whole class is based off of 4 midterms and a final exam worth 40% of your grade! DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He skims over lessons and expects you to know everything on the midterms, gets annoyed if you ask too many questions and overall cares ZERO about the success of of his students. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
This professor expects you to keep up to fast pace lectures that are not clear enough to understand. This professor makes learning more difficult and you must got to tutoring if you want to earn a decent grade or else you will fail the class. Think about your choices before choosing this class.
At first of taking this class, I thought I it would be no big deal at taking this class. He seemed easy. But as the weeks passed I regretted my decision to stay and just withdraw the class. He is detailed at explaining the problems, but too fast paced for math. He gives no homework or pop quizzes, but give midterms that has more than three chapters
WORST MATH CLASS EVER. The professor literally compares problems to food. He does all his grading on 5 exams. Think you will pass? Every exam is 60%of your grade. To top it off with a final that is 40% of your grade. Not to mention gets angry when you do bad in exams. Youd think the pop quizzes would save you but you will just fail. Fail hard.
Only take this class if you're good at math (really, really good) and you're fine learning on your own. He gives the easiest examples in class and the hardest on the test. The test also contains problems from ALL chapters done since the beginning. Started with a large class and it went to < 20. Even the smart kids dropped. Choose a better professor
Worst teacher ever. Never ever take his class.
This professor was the absolute worst! He never talked clearly, he barely explains things, and the worst is he takes off 8/10 points if you dont use an arrow or equal sign when showing the steps
-over complicates everything -doesnt stay on task And talks frequently -gives pop quizzes -makes jokes that arent funny -expects everything to be known already -no extra credit -assignments are virtually useless He has a bad rating for a reason please do yourself a favor and avoid him.
He is by far the best professor I had. His way of teaching is very thorough and he makes sure he breaks down every single problem to the details. He spends a lot of time explaining the material. However, he is a very tough grader so if you are not ready to have points chopped off for minor mistakes, I wouldn't suggest you take his class.
Don't take this class. he is a tough grader. my friends dropped out from college because of him. different style of teaching.
WORST FRICKEN MATH TEACHER EVER. EVER. unless you want to self teach yourself all the material and watch him TRY to lecture/yell at you for two hours then don't take him. His tests are so much different than what he teachers in class. No homework graded so if you get a bad grade on a test YOURE DONE. Makes you feel stupid when you ask a question.
seriously avoid this man at all costs. does not care about the success of his students. seriously have never met a teacher that cares so little about his students. loves to make his students feel stupid for asking questions. also dont bother trying to email him trying to communicate, ask for help or an extension.
Professor Lee is one of the worst professors you will ever meet. Does not give any homework, does not use a text book, and BARELY gives instructional notes. Does not give credit for work shown, and will only except his methods. Has made me cry 4 times in the past week. NEVER TAKE THIS CLASS ITS AWFUL!
this professor is the worst teacher at SMC. if u want punish you self or learn how stupid u are u can choose otherwise don't take it.
the worst teacher ever. he wont listen what is student saying just ignore it. and he only accept his own solution.
Although I'm sure Professor Lee's intentions aren't for us to fail, it's just difficult for him to show that he genuinely cares. He is just not accommodating to online Teaching which is very different from in person classes. A very tough grader, requires double the study time and lots of outside help.
This professor is absolutely awful. The class averages on him exams are in the 60% range and he doesnt curve anything. He doesnt care at all, and seems to not be bothered when a majority of his students are failing the class. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
If you can spot subtle clues in test problems and apply formulas flexibly, this class is doable. If you can't, you end up with a D (avg score on test was in the sixties). Tests are made of questions where you have to combine things you learn in class. You have to know the material by heart (impossible to do in 5 week semesters). TL;DR DON'T TAKE
The absolute worst. Test heavy. Disrespectful towards students when they are asking for a more thorough explanation. Overall don't take this professor during the winter semester. Not very well at using technology since the class is online during Covid-19 so lectures are not recorded.
Professor Lee is hands down the worst math professor i have ever had at SMC. I am so sorry if you decide to take him. The averages of his quizzes and exams are around 30-65% and he doesn't seem to care. There is no extra credit, no curves, nothing. He yells back at students for asking questions (I'm not even kidding). DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR
if you read this yourself, I tell you you're in wrong profession. Such uncaring, rude person doesn't deserve to be a teacher. He is the absolute worst teacher and person I had in years. I hope this creature loses his job. he is there to see people fail, I hope he fails miserably in his pathetic life too.
If you look at the grade distribution there is not one person that got an A and theres a reason. He gave us a quiz the first day and took off points for nothing. If your work doesn't match his exactly he will take off all of your points even if the answer is right not to mention he screams in class. TERRIBLE PROFESSOR DO NOT TAKE HIM!
I think more than half the class failed (calc 1 winter). Tests were all made of complex and long questions, and most people ran out of time. He doesn't curve, yells during lectures, and mocks students for asking easy questions. I had an A in an Asian Calc 3 Equiv. class but spent 3 hours/day to keep an A. Don't take him during winter or summer.
Dont do it. Take math somewhere else or some other professor. I hope I just saved someone from failing.
Only gives exams and quizzes, when he is teaching he just shows the class a problem and does it himself and expects the class to understand without guidance. constantly yelling at students, confused as to why they do not understand. terrible professor, terrible class.
Although his materials and teaching are challenging, I felt like I learned a lot from his way of solving problems. There are weekly tests and quizzes so you have to study every day. His grading is very clear and he expects you to show all the steps so if you show up to class and listen carefully, you'll understand what he is looking for.
I have been in multiple colleges over the year with many different professors. Out of all these professors there were none as bad as this professor. He will yell at a student who asks for clarification questions. He rarely reviews, and skips large sections of material. It started with 40 classmates ended with 6. If you have the chance Do not take!
Stupid prof. He teaches class with test is so different, and skip some more lecture. Even u use way from the book, But he didn't teach, u will get the 0scores in the test or quiz. If u want to pass, get other prof, please!
Be prepared to have your ear screamed off on how you aren't good enough amd how you don't use enough equal signs and how 2A does not equal A. Syntax is everything to him. He doesn't care about whether or not you got the right answer. And you best be sure to over show your work. Or he will think you are cheating
the only reason his class is difficult is that he does not teach. he'll solve a problem on the board and not explain it. way too much yelling at 8:00 am. I don't recommend taking this class if you actually care about learning.
Does a two hour zoom on two pages of the textbook and then expects you to understand the entire rest of the material. It was one of the worst classes i have taken at SMC. I tried to with drawl but was late by two weeks for personal reasons and he did not care at all. Stay away from Prof. Lee. But if u do have to take his class, get a tutor.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. Class started with about 20 students or more than as the semester progressed it dropped down to 3 or 4 students. He's even self aware he said "if anymore students drop I'm going to get fired", so what's taking so long SMC??
doesn't know how to teach and gets off topic so much, he doesn't really try to help you at all, he says this when it comes to test " if you don't understand the question don't write anything if you write something and I don't understand it i wont grade it and you'll lose all the credit for it"
Even he knows he's a bad teacher as he constantly says he's in danger of being fired because of how many kids drop his class. The week before the drop deadline only 2 poor souls were left in there. An incredibly frustrating class I don't recommend at all. I would go on about his faults as a teacher, but I can't because of the word limit here...
Every quiz is unannounced. He will yell at the class and teaches you what not to do instead of what to do. He tells you to just study everything. Your grade is based 100% off of tests and quizzes. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
I got dropped off on the mid way in the Spring and now i'm having trobule with classes and units to maintain my visa valid dun take his class if u dun want to lose ur money or get a refund especially if u are international student but the way he taught is good ngl
Horrible and unnecessary poor grading.
This professor's teaching style is unconventional - lots of yelling and little guidance. Use unstuckstudy AI, the textbook, and study sessions to survive the exams and quizzes. Attendance is mandatory, but the class is a tough one.
This professor genuinely sucks. The first week of school he given us a quiz already, when students were done and gave him their tests he embarrassed each one of us saying “everything is wrong you're not leaving” or “what is this?are you kidding”.He sent me back to my desk bc I “wasn't done”. I was 25minutes late to my next class.
Never seen so many people drop a class in my life. Before I left only three people attended lectures so take what you will with that information. - no calculators - makes you study on your own (instead of teaching) - gets upset for students not knowing what he is teaching - rambles instead of lectures (wastes time) - why is still a professor….idk?
The worst mistake I could make was not searching him up on RMP!! He yells a lot and gets mad at us for not knowing what he's teaching us?? Like I took this class to learn the material I DON'T know! He gets angry at us for asking questions and then wonders why we all failed the exam. He doesn't explain ANYTHING. Self-teaching is the only method.
