Really good at explaining. Midterms are easy but you have to read the textbook. All his exams are straight out of the textbook. Lecture is good to attend but just memorize the textbook. Enjoyble class overall.
good prof, easy class.
Interesting lectures with power point notes. Midterms are straight out of the textbook and might not be mentioned in the notes. Overall a pretty easy class!
Great Prof! He made this class very interesting and enjoyable to attend although attendence is not mandatory. He posts notes online. Midterm and Final were fair, as long as you have read the text. GREAT PROF!
No complaints.
Super class. He's the insanely energetic little british man. His class was funny, engaging and easy to follow. Highly recommed.
Not a push over class in contrast to what everyone says. The tests are incredibility difficult to put it on a "Normalized bell curve"
has a horrible temper. heard great things about the teacher, makes class interesting. Though, tests are pretty difficult
Expects way too much from students. Not a very good prof. He's a little bit full of himself as well.
Hes an awesome guy, lectures are entertaining. As a teacher I wouldn't recommend him, very difficult one on one. Extremely difficult tests, averages will be in the 50% range, marks range drastically from 0%-85%. Would avoid him. Cool guy, bad teacher. Smart kids I knew in highschool got 40% on exams. Getting a good mark with him is a total fluke.
Great guy, awful professor. Exams unfair and incredibly hard. Class average was 50%, getting good mark in his class is by luck. You go in to a test thinking you know it all, you come out crying where he pulled his questions out of.
if your thinking to get a 3.7 or greater in this Psyco class, please i like to see you try... last two mid terms we had a average of 55 percent, and he dose not curve the class, he belief direct quote" i make my exams impossible to get a 100, and the only way your getting over 90 is if your smarter than me." no one got over 90,hes absolutly brutal!
Expects way too much from first year students. Brutal exams, arrogant, full of himself. Stay away!!!
I agreed with the other comments. He's a funny guy and makes class interesting. One on one the prof is very approachable and helpful. However, in lectures he is quite arrogant and presents students with difficult exams. I wouldn't recommend taking this class with this prof unless you are willing to work EXTREMELY Hard. Beware!
Very funny guy, and an optimal first year prof. The exams are hard (which is a blessing in a large class), and he's very knowledgeable and professional. I felt motivated by him, and I'd take another class with him if I had the chance.
Peter Lee is quite an interesting prof. He doesn't take crap at all; don't ever talk in his class or he'll throw you out (I've seen it happen a lot). Exams are way too hard for a first year course; averages are like 45-55 or so. He posts notes online so just print them off and read the text. Avoid him if you possibly can, he'll destroy your GPA.
I love the prof, he is a great person very helpful and aproachable... he gives great notes and is a good all around prof.... one big problem though is very hard exams, 50 to 60 average hard
Peter Lee is rude and has no respect for students, he enjoys making snide comments about people as well. Expects way to much of 1st year students and exams are really hard. His lecture notes are useless exams are text book based and no one every gets 90% or higher. If you don't mind having a self-absorbed prof then go for Peter Lee!
Great Prof, definitely recommend him! Very interesting individual and makes class interesting. I truly enjoyed going to his lectures. You have to work hard to do well. His exams are tough but fair, which means you will get the grade you deserve, as it is a curved class.
Nice guy, very hard to understand sometimes because of his British accent. Uses power points that guide you but also gives a lot of information only available from his lectures. Gives extra readings which are long and on the exams. Should go to his class if you want a good mark.
If you want to do good you really need to attend the lectures. That may seem bad, but he is hilarious. He makes the lectures worthwhile.
The material was interesting and seemed easy-enough while studying/ learning... but the exams were off topic and very random. I read and basically memorized the text-book but the midterms and especially the final did not seem to reflect the material. Do the extra readings and study things that you wouldnt expect to be tested on, because you will be
NOT fun or easy, the way psych's supposed to be. The lectures were all right, but his exams are IMPOSSIBLE. Barely tests anything from lectures, a bit from the superlong additional readings, but almost all textbook, and I hated memorising all those stupid details. Avg was always 50s, I'm praying the curve will bump up the 70s I keep getting
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.Unless you want to fail.I loved psychology, but he made me hate it.Im never going back to psyc ever again. His exams are IMPOSSIBLE he tests you on offtopic things you never heard of.If there is a question related to what we learned, he uses a thesauras to find synonyms that only those with high literary people will understand.
Terrible teacher, hard class, extremely hard tests, very mean, can't ask him anything. You have to be very smart in psych already to do well in dis class. He thinks he is hilarious but he is rude. Whatever you do, do not take this class with him, you'll regret it. He'll destroy your love of psychology. Terrible class.
Thought he was okay at first. Then I went to him for help and he ripped me apart for not knowing what he wants. Class average on a paper was below failing mark. He also told people their marks in front of entire class. Very disrespectful. He expects A LOT. Wouldn't recommend him but I think he is the only one teaching this course this year
Wow, I am glad people feel the same way I do. I LOVED psych before taking his class and now I deplore it; not to mention his attitude. He seems like he's seething all the time and I regret getting up at some ungodly hour just to go to this class and listen to him be rude and spew egoistic BS. Went to all classes, still did terrible.
His notes are the only things I used for studying. He does have a temper, but I understand where he's coming from. Psychology is easy as long as you go to his classes and actually pay attention.
He made class interesting. But his class averages were always in the 50s whereas other psych class averages are always around 70s. Needless to say his tests were a little tough and he didnt just reiterate textbook. I personally thought he was okay but i wish i took it with some other prof!
Who cares about his ego and temper - he's a prof not your boyfriend. You don't have to go to his class to get a good mark. I went to about half, and read about half of the text. Top mark on final. I admit, many exam questions are poorly worded. Just have to be willing to second guess his questions. In lecture he is hilarious and very clear.
i do not know one person in this class who liked the professor. maybe the kids who got top marks clearly but if you are in sciences and psych is there for a GPA booster, stay clear of this prof. he expects you to know the textbook, his notes, and everything he says inside out! it is beyond ridiculous.
I think people should stop whineing about the class being to hard for first years. This is University! With him you should attend class and listen, and read the textbook and extra readings. He may seem tough but He's not going to MAKE you fail. My mark may not be great but he didn't let me fail like I should have.
Having this guy as a teacher gives you some indication as to what it might be like to see your career flushing down the toilet. The exam is not hard as opposed to most people here say, but the questions are definately worded in a way to trick you into selecting the wrong answer. Your vocabulary needs to be epic to excel in this class.
I liked the lectures but you do have to pay close attention. He throws in some facts you need to know for tests. Overall average prof. If you want a good mark be prepared to work your butt off because you need to know everything and anything to be ready for the questions on exams that are tricky and wordy. High marks are possible with the curve
Thank goodness for the curve. Tests are incredibly hard becuase of the wording of questions and answers (MC questions). His notes sometimes contradict the textbook. Watch out when he's teaching the biology section of it, there were some inaccuracies in his lectures. Does not explain things very clearly when you ask for help.
This man is a beast. He's able to make the lecture interesting, and a heck of a guy outside of class. He's a man with stories. His notes are very detailed, but you probably have to go to class to make full sense of them. His tests are fair. Very lively, and overall a good class to be in.
TERRIBLE!! DO NOT GET HIM. EXTREMELY ARROGANT AND DIFFICULT MAN.
He is a good prof. Everyone else complains because he doesn't give lazy students the answers. He is not arrogant he just knows wayyyy more than you do about Psychology. If you don't like learning and you want an A for doing nothing don't take this class. I am sick of 18 year olds coming out of high school with no work ethic complaining :)
Excellent professor, a very interesting individual. Most interesting class I have ever taken, truly enjoyed attending his lectures. You will get the grade you deserve and if you want an A, be prepared to work for it. I would definitely recommend his class!
I don't understand the negative comments at all. I didn't do particularly well in his class, but I got what I put into it. The guy's hilarious though! He's like Ricky Gervais! Really interesting stories, and really interesting character.
Terrible prof. Negative approach to teaching. My dislike for his class took away from my interest in majoring in psychology.
I thought he was horrible. He doesnt use the text book, so dont rely on it for exams. There's WAY too many notes, and it's sometimes hard to understand because it seems like he makes up his own words. He was funny at times, but also very intimidating.
Makes class interesting but really hard tests. Don't take this class if you're expecting an easy A like most other psych classes.
He is crazy. His tests are ridiculously hard. Ruined psych for me.
Absolutely attrocious. His tests made me cry. He's rude, obnoxious, and a horrible person. Never take his class.
he is really funny and makes classes really interesting. puts good readings and notes on the net. his tests are very difficult but perfectly curved so it evens out. but you definitely have to study. he is very knowledgeable and has a great background in the subject
Great Prof. Always kept things interesting, he makes lots of analogies and tells funny stories to help you remember things. The tests can be difficult, but they really aren't half bad if you study and you don't let yourself get psyched out becuase you aren't 100% sure of your answers.
Interesting prof; comes off as arrogant... possible fear of students outsmarting him? Tests are fair, but challenging. Study his notes, extra readings and text for understanding.
His tests are tough MC but are curved so who cares so ppl quit whining, he's entertaining, does have a bit of a temper at time but usually friendly/easy going/approachable & lectures are clear. Overall good prof just dont be an idiot shouldnt be hard youre in university. Many complaints i think simply stem from ppl not being prepared/doing poor
Exams are fair. Read the TB and u'll do fine. notes are dec. summary of TB. Albeit, sometimes entertaining and interesting he is a rude teacher who treats students like crap. Would shootdown and insult students responses/questions. Asked him a few questions via email and responded arrogantly and pompously. an Ok teacher but can find a better one.
Everyone rating Lee so terribly obviously didn't go to class or read the material. His tests are fairly difficult, so study. He's very entertaing and I enjoyed going to his class. People who give him a bad review are obviously slackers. Stop complaining.
I loved this professor! He kept class interesting and entertaining even though some of the material is a bit dry. His examples are excellent and really help you to understand the concepts. He really cares about what he teaches and is very approachable if you have a question. Very fair exams as well. Make sure you attend the class and read the text!
I thought that he was brilliant. He was strict about talking and such but overall he was really passionate about psychology and if you studid what he highlighted in his notes and kept up with the readings his classes werent that difficult.he was always willing to talk to and interact with his students before and after class. definitely recommend hi
Wow. This guy has to the most arrogant person I have ever met in my life. He seems alright in lectures but if you ever have to talk to him outside of class.... don't. He doesn't release the online notes in enough time for you to print them off before. He expects you to memorize every little detail of his notes, plus a whole bunch of other stuff
What an astounding prof! He is super funny! Keeps the classes interest giving facts about details such as wolfgang koehler studied with monkeys. Very useful and makes everything easy to understand.
He has a huge ego and will freak out at anyone talking during his class. If he thinks you are not paying attention he will actually run up to where you are sitting to make sure its his lecture notes on your computer screen. He has often spouted incorrect facts so be on your toes and take anything he says with a grain of salt.
Good Prof
Very good prof. His lectures were very interesting and funny. He is very approachable outside of class. Tests are designed so no one can get 100%, but marks are curved. Just attend the lectures and be sure to read the textbook and you will do fine. He does have a slight temper so best not disrupt class.
I really enjoyed Peter Lee as a prof. He keeps the class interesting and entertaining. Also, he does not "sugar coat" anything, he says it like it is. He is very interactive with the students and will remember your name even though one class is over 400 students. Great prof, I highly recommend him to anyone.
Ok...where to begin... although its not a mandatory attendance he puts questions on the exam that you wouldnt know unless you attended.I found that I had to teach myself everything, the textbook was my teacher. His tests are extremely hard and if you don't read and memorize every caption in the book you will not get an A. Good Luck!
this class has alot of information, so be prepared to study lots! peters class was ok, im sure it would have been beter if it wasnt at 8 in the am. but i did not like that he made the exam worth 60%.not fun.he was interesting, and his exams were difficult, but as he explains, they are quite fair.if you are really interested in psyco- take his class
Funny and makes the lectures interesting but his tests are quite hard. Make sure you attend class and study days in advance for the test since you have to memorize everything. Plus there are no practice problems or anything to help study. Overall I wouldn't take a class with him again but if you like Psych and studying then you'd probably enjoy it.
Excellent teacher, but prone to outbursts of anger if people don't show or are talking...even if people just don't get it (though I admit, they were mostly simple concepts).
if i can get an A, then just about anyone can im not the brighest engineering student lol. enthusiastic teacher with a british accent =), just reading the book however is enough to get by the course
Definitely not an easy "A", but a worthwhile course overall! I would definitely recommend attending classes, b/c he will test you on lecture material. Nice guy. Woke us up for the 8am class. Come to class with a coffee. Be engaged. READ THE TEXT. and you'll be good to go.
Dr. Lee is an excellent prof. To get a good grade in his class, you need to read the textbook and pay attention in every lecture. He is very opinionated, but he catches himself when he crosses the line. He is strict about talking, but it is disruptive to the other students who have paid to take the class as well.
Tests are fair, easy if you keep up with the material. Entertaining prof in class. One day I had to ask him a question after class, I answered wrong and boy did he make me feel like garbage. Totally agree with other ratings on his poor behavior towards students.
Good, entertaining, hilarious prof. Go to class, it's worth the time. Not necessary, but will be worth it. I agree about making students feel stupid if they answer wrong/question his opinions, I was kind of afraid to answer questions in class. Definitely tests from the textbook. Overall an awesome prof though. Very entertaining
This is a great prof. He tries to make class fun and interesting. I felt that he was polite with students who didn't give the wrong answer, contrary to what others have said. Come to class & read the text book and you'll do well on exams. Great class and great prof! Cute too! Loved his accent & jokes!!
Go for the notes, stay for the man. Lee is hilarious. While study-wise, you're probably better off reading the textbook, you HAVE to go to his lectures just to watch him go. Enthusiastic, energetic, loud. He certainly doesn't take any nonsense, but he's fantastic. Watch out for the InfoLit: one of them is worth 6% of your mark!
best prof I have had thus far... makes the concepts easy to grasp with his examples and sense of humour. he applies the concepts to real life which makes them easy to understand. extremely entertaining. 1000000000% reccommended
Awesome Prof! Sometimes get off topic but not very often. Hates it when students leave early from his class, he'll put you on the spot. He's a funny prof and has notes as a guideline. What is in the notes is what you should read in the textbook.
Peter Lee is one of the most memorable profs I have ever had! He is so hilarious! After some classes he would invite students out to the pub (since it was a night class). He is truly a great prof and I recommend him to everyone!
Amazing. I had 104, 105 and 212 with him by choice. tough guy to get used to because he really expects a lot of you but it's fair. Exams are hard (averages are usually in the 60s) but he's hilarious and actually made me enjoy some of the more dry topics. Tough but so worth it.
Comes across as quite arrogant, I'm not sure he's quite as funny as he seems to think he is. Also, the pace of this class is too slow!
PJ Lee is an amazing prof, from what I understand he's a guy you either love or hate. Tests are pretty tough, and he expects a lot of his students, but it is definitely worth taking his class.
Classes were interesting but since he is atheist, he was fairly offending at times for religious people. Likes people that participate in class when questions were asked. Do not be late and attend class as there are questions on stuff only discussed in class
I took psychology 104 with peter lee, his exams are very tough and hard, make sure you attend class and NEVER miss one , because 1/5 of the questions on the exam are based on what he says in the lecture. READ THE TEXTBOOK and study every night for this course is crucial. you will fail this course if you dont not review day by day . Goodluck .
He made class really interesting and required that you actually care about what you're learning. DON'T take this class if you want an easy A, there are plenty of other psych 105 classes and profs for that. DO take this class if you have a genuine interest in psychology.
While I enjoyed his class, the exams were very difficult. There were many detailed questions on his lectures, guest lectures, etc. He said that if he sneezes, it is testable. Other than that, the class was great. I only fell asleep in one and it was at 8am!
Stats and Research Methods is incredibly boring, but Peter makes it bearable. He has funny jokes and good examples. His exams were hard but if you read the textbook and go over the slides you should be fine. By the other prof ratings it seems that he's the best prof to take 212 with. Very approachable and organized.
Great Prof. The material is really dry but I would have fallen alseep with any other teacher. Exams are tough but as long as you pay attention to the material you sbould be ok.
While he is an entertaining prof (especially for an 8am class), his exams were ridiculously hard. Anything and everything that was mentioned in class was testable, ergo do not skip. Take his class if you are really interested in psychology, but high marks will not be easy to achieve.
Intelligent and down to earth; he's there because he has a passion for psychology and expects that students are the same. Lectures are never dull and touch on most of the important topics and other points that he does test, so attend them. Tests are completely fair, and rarely are questions ambiguous. Read lecture notes and textbook you'll be fine.
Overall, I think he is a fairly mediocre prof. He says there will be a portion of the exam based on discussions in class; but after the first month, I rarely attended due to the notes being posted online and did just fine. I found his tests to be extremely fact based, and somewhat unprofessional - with lots of errors and spelling mistakes.
I had him for 104-105. Great teacher funny, entertaining & never boring. Attending class crucial, but if you have to miss 1 or 2 it's fine. He used to be in the military which explains his no-nonsense attitude, but if you're not rude & have a sense of humor the class will be no problem. If you are easily offended or a religious nut avoid the class.
He's a really great prof who encourages active learning. He says anything done in class is testable, but I found that everything you need for the exams can be found in the text or his notes. Study hard, learn the concepts/definitions and you will do fine! 1 Midterm (50 MC Q's worth 25%) and 1 Final (100 MC Q's worth 55%). Recommended.
Excellent lecturer, super funny and extremely clear and helpful. Midterm was very difficult, and included lots of challenging lecture based questions. Final was significantly easier. If you have a genuine interest in psychology, this is the prof to take 105 with!
Very funny guy. Gets off topic sometimes, but it's amusing. The tests are tricky, but it's curved so if you study you should do decent. Notes are online, so if you miss a class you can at least get the basics easily.
Very enthusiastic and passionate about what he teaches. Made a lot of jokes and really tried to keep the lectures interesting. Some of his test questions are very specific, so pay attention!
he is trying to keep the class funny, but sometimes I just dont understand what he's talking about, the psy104 will metioned some of the knowledge in STAT..I think the exam he has given was so hard, especially those words which came from Biology...and if you wanna take it in spring/summer,dont miss the class, or you will be hard to follow.
He is honestly such a great prof. He makes boring subjects interesting (research methods) and is a very enthusiastic prof. He really cares about his students and wants you to do well. His exams are a little difficult, but that's because he believes you should work for your grades. He is very fair and understanding. Very smart and cool guy.
Really he does know his stuff. Before i wasn't coming to a couple classes and it turns out that those were classes that in class discussions were on the mid term.If you hate biology bad at memorizing DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.He can be very strict at times, follow his request, should be ok.Listen in class if you don't well the letter F might show up.
Favorite professor so far. He is incredibly enthusiastic, engaging, and makes good use of the space. Make sure to attend every class and try to take notes on what he SAYS, not just what is on the slides. Makes you work for your grades, but not in a bad way. Very fun and intelligent guy, e-mail him with any questions you have.
An excellent prof who's both engaging and enthusiastic and makes the course interesting. His exams can be tricky and challenge you to think, but they're quite fair and aren't overly difficult at all. Posts notes online, but make sure to attend lectures, write down what he says, and read the textbook. Everything is fair game for the exams.
Very tough class, but he tries to keep it intersting. Do not miss class ever. On the exams he expects you to remember every little thing thats ever been mentioned and make sure you keep up with the text book as well because there will be questions on the exam that are not covered in class but are in the text.
Seemed like an awesome guy. I took psych hoping it would be interesting but it seemed like 70% of the course was all biology related, which I didn't like. I missed class a whole bunch of times and it really affected me, so make sure you attend classes. Lee isn't the best prof out there but he's not someone I would complain about.
Good prof, well structured class, lots of energy (keeps you awake at an 8 am class). Exams are tricky; very important to take class notes for any detail (anything can go on exam, do not underestimate).
Knowledgeable, good notes, explains concepts clearly, and is clear with his expectations. Notes cover basically all the topics he covers in his tests, but reading the textbook is useful; just keep in mind that he's not going to test you on your ability to regurgitate info you've read. My only complaint, he doesn't leave his opinion out of lecture
Although many may find his style of teaching to be enthusiastic, I found him downright intimidating. Excellent lecture notes, but I would recommend those who learn better in peaceful environments find another prof to take this course with.
If you go into this class not expecting anything, then this guy will surprise you! He is very enthusiastic and kind of intimidating. Can be annoying, but he's funny. He loves to get involved with the class, so if you like to ask questions he encourages it. Overall the class was decent,1 midterm and a final. His exams are decently hard.
Good course, hard but interesting. Don't ever email him though because he makes you feel like an idiot for no reason at all...numerous times.
Great professor. I love his enthusiasm and how interesting and dynamic he makes the class. He is also very helpful. His exams are tricky but if you pay attention in class everything will go smooth
He is a great prof. His exams are hard because some of his questions are based on things he says in class but if you attend the lectures doing well should not be a problem.
Attending class is a MUST. Anything from discussions, lectures, student presentations and textbook is testable. The key is to take notes on what he says in lectures and NOT just copy out his slides, which are available online regardless. DON'T take the 8am class if your not a morning person...All in all, good prof.
Awesome Professor! makes class really very interesting. Attending class is a must because he tests you on what he says in class and also has quizzes solely based on things he says in class. All-in-all an interesting professor.
Good prof, lecture notes are easy to access and follow. For the love of god, DO NOT BE LATE. Seriously. Trust me on this one
He is very passionate - it is infectious. I went into this course (conservation psychology) expecting to swap out of it, but his personality definitely made me stay. He requires an 'article review' every class, so attendance is mandatory. He really respects his students, and listens to them. He was also pretty helpful outside class.
Pretty decent prof, good at explaining concepts, very enthusiastic - enough to keep you awake most of the time even with an 8 am class! However, if you take 8 am class, be prepared to become a morning person, and DON'T BE LATE, EVER. He spent an entire lecture calling out every single person that walked in late. Exams fairly hard, study EVERYTHING.
Absolutely love Peter. He is by far the most engaging, enthusiastic professor I've had. This class itself is incredibly useful and will change you as a person. Highly recommend both Peter & Psyco 302.
I thought he was really fun at first, but towards the end he bores me. His quizzes are really easy, but if you did not hear him saying there will be a quiz posted or whatever, and past the deadline, you cannot take that quiz anymore. But overall, he might be better than some other professors.
Although there is no textbook, article reviews were due every single class. Out of the courses I have ever taken, this course was high up there in the amount of effort you needed to put in. Not the easiest A but the material is so engaging, at the end of the day it doesn't even matter. As Prof Lee puts it, Conservation Psychology is a mission.
He's funny and enthusiastic. He walked up and down the aisles in class to keep everyone awake and involved! Material is easy, but there is a lot of it. The tests are not easy, as they can be on ANYTHING. My advice is really keep up to date on your readings.
MUST ATTEND ALL CLASSES! His accent is cool but sometimes hard to hear. Great for an early morning prof, he really keeps you awake!
He manages to make a dreadfully dull subject somewhat more interesting. Attending lectures was necessary since he gave random pop quizzes. His exams were long and fairly difficult. In contrast, the research paper was marked surprisingly fairly. Overall, if you need this difficult course, I recommend this prof since he makes it bearable.
Must show upto class(he does quizzes) and his tests have stuff that he said in class. Final was very specific on who did what that was not n his notes but on the final....very funny and enthusiastic though.
He is awesome, respectful and passionate about what he teaches. He is very helpful and his notes are awesome! You can get away with not reading the textbook, if you go to lecture. Don't go late though...
He made an 8 am class actually enjoyable to attend. Attendance was mandatory for he had pop quizzes. If you pay attention in class and study his notes you can for sure get over a B+. Definitely one of my favourite profs so far.
This was my first university class ever at 8am. He told us all he doesn't care if we pass, and he told us we are all numbers to him.
