Great professor. A "B" is very manageable, and an A is within reach with some effort. Not impossible by any means. The key here is to use the easy first test to boost your grade, and for the second test, LEARN THE REACTIONS AS YOU GO. Makes the concepts much easier to study (rather than having to cram reactions). I'd take him again in a heartbeat.

Study, study, study! And go to SI. Dr. Livant is a very good teacher; he is straight forward and I felt like he wanted students to do well. His tests are really hard, but he saves you at the end of the semester by taking your final exam grade as your final average if it's a good grade. First teacher I've had that I feel actually cares.

Livant puts his notes online and has a lenient grading system. He allows you to drop your lowest grade (between 3 tests and a homeworkquiz grade) or you can even choose to not turn in a test. He taught my chem 1 class as well, which was fairly easy. 2070 is HARD. The material is really hard, the tests are extremely hard. Definitely a weed-out.

Take him because he makes you know it. But for all that is good in this world, do NOT skip class. You will try to pick it back up and be completely lost. Work problems like your life depends on it, read the book BEFORE each lecture, and you will be fine. He is very straightforward about what he wants.

Organic chemistry is something you have to study over and over again to understand it. He taught well. Three tests, 6 quizzes, and a final. The final was a bit harder than previous tests. He also will use you final exam grade as your final average, if its better than your test average. Im taking him again.

I took this class because everyone told me it would prepare me for the MCAT because he forces you to know your stuff, and boy were they right! This is not a class you can skate by in just by cramming for each test and studying for the occasional quiz. Go to class, go to SI, read the book, and you might come out with an A. You have to earn it.

Lectures are sometimes complicated and you'll be lost if you don't put in the work outside of class. He makes you LEARN OCHEM.

It's organic chemistry, so it WILL be a weed-out class. By far the BEST professor I've had. Read the book BEFORE Class. His exams are very straightforward. What you get on the final is what you get overall. If you want to actually LEARN the material for the MCAT, take him,but don't except it to be like Parish, where you will easily get an A.

Dr. Livant is a very nice professor, but does not in any way go into enough detail during lectures. The textbook is the lifeline for this class. Old exams help but don't guarantee good exam grades. Therefore, I made an A in the class. Never went to class because the notes were online, and I did terrible on the quizzes. Just read the book and do the Sapling
