Fair, straight forward, dry sense of humor, very cute when he smiles, I would take his class again.
He teaches very quickly especially during the summer. Tests are difficult even with proper studying. I guggest taj=king Dooling if you can.
He is very knowledgeable about Anatomy and Physiology, but reads right off the overhead and goes extremely fast. I would suggest taking Doolin if possible.
It was my second time taking the course, Doolin is awesome lecture hard test. Lovells lecture is hard he goes extremely into detail, but his test are easier.
Yes...he is a hard teacher. But extremely fair. You must study for his tests. You will learn!
He is a good teacher. He will not take any let slackers slide. He does his job making sure you actually learn the material...very fair
Lovell knows his stuff but refuses to come down to your level as a student to make things a bit more understood. He uses his big words on powerpoint but uses everyday words in his lectures, leaving you confused as to what he really means. A $ P is a tough subject enough as it is but teachers like him make it more dreadful!!! Do Not Take him.
Very intelligent, and knowledgable. Very down to earth, approachable guy. Yeah, the class ain't easy, but he wants you to think (which is a good thing) and actually LEARN. Great teacher.
He's a real nice guy and easy to talk to , But the lecture is very very boring. Bring a laptop to class so you can make believe you are working on notes , etc. otherwise you might fall asleep.
Dr. Lovell is extremely smart. His exams are very wordy, so, you just have to pay attention to details.I took him for A&P I over the summer and loved every minute of it.
I took Dr. Lovell's class in August of 2007. He is very helpful, you just have to talk to him, he can not read your mind. I had some health issues due to an accident and he was very helpful in letting me know what I needed to do to pass. His class is hard, but that's because it is a hard subject. He is a must for a teacher.
Dr. Lovell posts all his notes for class online so you can print them for class. You follow allow to his powerpoint presentation and fill in answers. Very good at presenting information! :)
Awesome teacher. alot of people failed but i guess because its dbcc people EXPECT their material spoonfed to them along pre-posted online powerpoint. u take the info on the powerpoint in class and refer to the book so you learn it more indepth. best science teacher i've ever had.
I should have dropped him when I had the chance. He is a teacher that is boring and his questions on tests are very tricky.
SUPER difficult class....and he doesnt make it any easier! Tons of material to remember for 1 test....Try someone else or just study really hard for his tests....He is a cutie pie to stare at !!
This class is not easy and you will study or you will fail! The test are worded very tricky, so read questions carefully! Lovell is very smart but doesn't teach in a way to make it easy and fun to remember. Make sure you get an A in lab to bring your class average up. The only way to review tests you take is by going to his office to look it over.
He's SUPER friendly and HELPFULL! You dont ever have to feel embarrassed about not understanding the material. he just wants you to do GOOD, but its up to you to let him know, and he's SO UNDERSTANDING. This is college anatomy so you will have to STUDY. plus he has a super hot ass, and a GORGEOUS FACE.
Overall he is a very good teacher. Attendance is not mandatory. I suggest that you go to class or you wont pass the exam. All notes are posted online if you do miss class. Make sure you study for the lecture exams thoughouly or you wont do well. When you study for a lab practicle study EVERYTHING you went over because it will all be on the test.
Boring as heck. His tests are not easier-, I did much better on another professors tests in Summer A and he is supposedly harder but makes you want to come to class because he is interesting!
Love the class! Always willing to help. Will clarify anything you don't get! The greatest!
Very Good instructor...Is always there to clarify things that you dont understand...go to class and study hard and you will pass his class...Sexy too!!!
Had him for A&P II lecture. Found him to be kind of boring, but not terrible.
Very good professor. Took two classes in a row with him. As long as you attend class and study, you'll be fine. He's very big on process, not just memorization. He lectures well; you can tell that he really knows the material and doesn't just read off of the slides. If you're serious about A&P, this is your guy.
Wonderful class. Extremely interesting; Lovell is a great teacher. Explains things relatively for good understanding, tells you the truth about many misconceptions. A rich and challenging class...the way school SHOULD be. Anyone who says otherwise is a slacker.
Takes time with notes so you have time to write down, allows lots of time for asking questions. Relaxed, so you can be.
Very good teacher... very smart!
hes a smart man
He's a teacher of such high quality & intelligence. Who ever complains that "this stuff is too hard!", is just looking for an easy ride -not a CAREER. It's a great opportunity to be taught by a professor of such calabour.
Great teacher to listen to, he knows a lot. But the fact is you don?t practice anything which helps a lot of people. They do offer SI but who can make that with a full schedule? Also the tests are always confusing, I studied hard and never made higher than an 80. One good thing is that he gives you notes and curves the grades.
Dr. Lovell is a nice person, however he is so monotone that sometimes he can coax the tears out of an onion. he does not speak on your level but way above. He is very passionate about anatomy, especially that of a slug. I think he could make the course alittle more fun. He does know his stuff.
I loved Dr. Lovell. His tests are a bit difficult, but he tests what he teaches. I knew nothing going into the class and he made everything very easy to understand. I'm definitely taking him for A&P II!!!
Dr. Lovell knows his stuff, and explains it well. Tests are a bit difficult at first. I really had to push myself in this class. He definitely won't hold your hand through the material. No extra credit or test reviews, the way it should be with this kind of material. You want a medical career? You need to KNOW this stuff. Welcome to COLLEGE people.
Dr. Lovell is a great instructor. He is not monotone, if you pay attention, it's very interesting. Who has time to go to SI, ME!!!! I work 40hrs a wk,missed 2 weeks of lecture and still pulled a high B out of the class. With the help of SI and going to talk to Dr. Lovell about the stuff I didn't understand.
If you have any interest in becoming a Doctor, this is the professor to take. He's a brilliant instructor, very organized, and he pushes you to be your best. Contrary to popular belief, he is more than willing to answer questions if anything is unclear.
Good teacher. Very smart and obviously knows his stuff. Tests can be pretty tough, but very possible to get an A on. The medical field is not easy to get into, and he is doing his best to get you prepared for it. Definitely take if you are considering being a medical doctor.
Dr. Lovell is very knowledgeable about the Human Anatomy and Physiology. His method of teaching is okay but the wording of his exams are confusing. The language of anatomy is totally different as he stated he prove it on his exams. Very challenging class...
I took Dr Lovell for Anatomy 1 & 2 and got an A in both classes. He is VERY knowledgeable in the topic and makes the class very interesting and informative. I will say however, that he is not an easy professor, but yet very understanding and always ready and available to answer ANY questions. Anything covered in lecture is fare game on the test, so
Continued from post below....so study well. He does like to use trick wording on the tests so read carefully, but if you understand the topic the answer will be very clear. Also he grades on a scale which means that 85% and up is an A. I would highly advice taking him for both lab and lecture.
Dr. Lovell is one of the most intellectual persons I have ever met. He is very helpful, professional and insanely hot!
Dr. Lovell deffenatly knows his material, but if you are going to take him make sure you make enough time to study. i found his test a bit difficult and there is no review prior to the test. Either you know it or you dont.

I really enjoyed his class I sat up front so I would be forced to pay attention and ask questions this helped me stay focused. I thought he was very clear and fair. It wasn't an easy class that's for sure, but putting a curve on the class with his grading scale kept everything fair. I struggled at the end but still got a B. I would take him again.
Really Good Teacher
Prof. Lovell is very helpful and a great professor. He really knows his stuff, but is not prideful about it and will admit if he doesn't know something. His class is not easy, studying is definitely required. I'd definitely recommend him! He also rides motorcycles, which makes him awesome!
His class is not easy and Lovell is sometimes a little dry if you're not in love with Anatomy. He is a nice guy and is always willing to help, you have to ask exact guestions, though.I would recommend him but be ready to study.
Dr. Lovell, He went over tons of new information. He expects you to know it inside out, so he tricks you on tests, he does not do study guides or review well. Does not steer you well towards what you should know for tests. Very useful info, but his class is more than moderatly difficult. Take his class if you already work in the health field maybe
He is a very helpfull teacher. The course is difficult but when I was in need of help he was there. He allowed me to sit in on any lecture that I wanted and that helped me to get a better understanding.Dr. Lovell always had time for me and the people in our study group. Be ready to study, be ready to do the work, be ready to get your money's worth.
Very precise. If you have questions he tells you over and over to see him in his office. You need to study. If you are not prepared to put the energy into taking this class, don't waste your time. 60% pass rate. Took first test and class avg. was 65. Great teacher though. You don't need the text book but you do need the lab book.
Professor Lovell is an awesome teacher! Friendly, smart, presentation organized. He does not give reviews for test but if you pay attention in class and study. You should be fine. Take advantage of the help offered. A & P is not a cake class.
Currently enrolled in his course, he is a great teacher, gives you all of the information you need but you HAVE to study outside of class...NOT an easy class, not because of the professor, but because it is just very hard material! He helps anyone who wants it, wants you to KNOW the material inside & out...I recommend him for sure!
He is okay.It is not an easy course. He is professional, organized and efficient.
I've taken both Dr.L & Doolin. Both are great teachers! Neither class is easier, neither professor is better. Come to class every day, READ THE BOOK & UNDERSTAND the pictures & you will pass. Dr. L is helpful, down to earth and chill. He gives you the rope and you can run with it or hang yourself. See ya in AP2 summer B!(I know it will be hard!)
Dr Lovell is a really great professor. If you dont understand he will explain it and will let you ask questions. I found his tests challenging but if you come to class and constantly review the notes from his power point you can do well. He really made anatomy intersting and he has a great sense of humor.
It is a very hard course. Dr. Lovell is a good professor who knows his stuff. I don't think I will take him again only because his way of teaching is not the way I learn best. You MUST study outside of class and don't wait till the last minute to do so. Hard material to learn but he's willing to help those that help themselves.
Dr. Lovell is extremely hard. Yes, he knows his info, but his tests are ridiculously tough. I didn't clearly know how to study for his exams due to his thinking and wording. Even attending the lectures, made it difficult when it came down to exams. If I had to take this again, he wouldn't be my first choice...SORRY!
The material can be difficult to grasp at times but he is always willing to answer questions and even draw things out on the board. Not an easy class, you have to work hard, but Dr. Lovell will work just as hard to make it more understandable.
Good professor makes you think things out and will help and time he can
I absolutely loved Dr. Lovell. He was very fun to learn from and gave very easy tests. I learned a lot from taking Human Biology, and he was one of those teachers that a majority of the students were taking the class as a requirement, so he didn't push you to remember anything. I'd take this teacher again in a heart beat.
Really loving Dr. Lovell. :) Very sweet guy, explains things in a way that I can understand & is always happy to answer questions. Very cute too with a really sweet personality. I would highly recommend him. Sure, A&PII is hard, & he understands that, & does all in his power to help his students be successful. Hard to pay attention-gorgeous hair ;)
Dr. Lovell was an awesome teacher. You NEED to make time to study for this class! As long as you print up his notes and make sure you highlight what he has highlighted on the PP you will really don't need the book in my opinion. All test questions come from notes. Test questions will have one word differences so read questions carefully!
Took A and P l and loved it. Organized, intelligent, and interesting instructor willing to explain anything. Tests are challenging but if you come to class and pay attention you should do well because they're straight from PowerPoint notes. I recommend printing them out and studying them rather than taking notes. Also, his grading scale helps a lot (85-100 is an A) and you can drop one test. Absolutely recommend!!

Difficult class, but a very good teacher. Notices when you work hard and asks questions, and it will pay off for you in the end. Very sweet guy, hard to pay attention because he is so freaking GORGEOUS. That hair is worth taking the class for in itself, good lord. He makes me shaky!
Passionate & dedicated teacher who inspires students instead of just showing up to make the donuts
lovell a good teacher, not easy, but helpful. all comments on this site that he is so hot, okay i almost laughed the first day of class, thouhgt i was in the wrong room. otherwise great prof, enjoying the class.
Okay, this is ridiculous are we talking about the profesors ability to teach or how much or how little he turns you on? He is an excellent prof. and if you put forth a little effort you can pass the class. Study power point notes and ask some questions.
Hot Teacher But Really Easy To Fail His Class His Tests Don't Match His Lectures At ALL! If You Take His Class GET OUT WHEN YOU CAN. He Is An Automatic Failure.
Wonderful teacher! Take him and you'll have no problem! Just be sure to read the text book as well, but his power points generally outline everything on the tests.
Lovell is an awesome professor. He uploads all of his notes onto the internet for people to study from. Tests are EXACTLY what was covered in class, no bogus. He is also good at working with students who might have missed a test or class notes. Such a great professor. I will gladly take his class again
Great class! Definitely not an easy one to pass if you don't have time to devote to studying. He answers any questions and is very helpful. He emails grades on tests so make sure you keep track because he won't give you your grade again. All tests are straight from the powerpoints but I'd suggest getting the book anyway
Awesome teacher to have! Very informative with the material being covered. Powerpoints that are covered are on the test. No reason to fail his class if you attend and take notes.

What can I say about Dr. Lovell, he is an awesome teacher. He has a passion for this subject and his genius shines through. He has a subtle humor and if you can use logic you will understand his material. All that he expects is for you to understand the material and you can pass his exams. Good luck and enjoy the view..
Lovell is certainly not any easy teacher! However i do love that he enjoys what he teaches. When he is lecturing you can tell in his voice and body language that he loves the subject and i absolutely respect that. I do wish his test weren't so difficult. But if you study the notes and i do mean study them! there should be no reason not to pass.
He makes the test so that you'll fail. I've experienced this as well as many other classmates I've talked to. Sometimes I think he forgets he's teaching first year students! Nice person but not very helpful at all. If you are taking this class, GO TO THE SI CLASSES AS WELL! You'll NEED them!
I would not recommend this teacher. He is not to helpful, very critical. Actually if you think about it, you are sitting through a lecture with him reading a power point that you can view yourself. Tests set you up to fail- get a tutor!
He's an excellent teacher and his tests are hard but if you really know what you've studied you'll do ok. I'm in the second part of A&P right now and looking at these negative reviews makes me laugh. He's good - if you failed, it's your fault and I really wouldn't want you as my nurse or a doctor if you couldn't pass his class anyway.
The thing I love about Dr. Lovell is that he gives you everything you need to pass the class up front. You really don't need the textbook because he gives you all the info you need in the notes, and the test is made from his slides. If you fail this class, it's your own fault.
Hes a great teacher, very smart.. all the materoal for the tests for on his slides. Study and take you time on the tests and you will do fine. I suggest taking Dr. Lovell
Straight forward Lecturer. Recommend him for anyone take BSC1085/BSC1086. I wish more lecturer like him in DSC. Very Objective and NOT subjective on answering questions inside and outside the class. If possible take his Lab class too. He explains more and give better understanding for lecture.
Took Dr.L for API&II. The class is not easy, but its not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Read the notes, understand how things function and the rest will work it self out.
Dr. Lovell really enjoys his job and that shines thru in every lecture. However, his tests are very tricky! They are SO HARD, you have to devote a lot of time to study and truly understand the relationship of how everything works together. Nothing black & white on his tests. Only the BEST students can pull off a B or higher in his class. Good luck
I consider myself lucky to have met Dr. Lovell. He's a great teacher who truly enjoys job. His detailed lecture style really helped me in the class and I will go out of my way to take him again for AP2. He's got a dry sense of humor that is pretty cool. His class isn't hard. Tests come from his slides. Just study hard and come to class. I got an A.
He definitely doesn't teach things in layman's terms so concepts can be a little hard to catch on to, but he does try to keep the course interesting and entertaining. Requires A LOT of studying at home, but that's a given. Large classes, so he doesn't clarify things unless you ask, but when you do he is very helpful.
Brilliant teacher. Talks little too fast sometimes. Might be hard to understand at first, but if you keep up with the stuff covered, you won't have a problem. Good idea to look over notes to next lecture, cuz it builds up pretty fast!
Hardest class I have ever taken but ended up being my favorite class ever. I have learned a great way to study through his class and plan to use those skills in all my future classes. He is a great professor. If you want to challenge yourself to learn and not look for the easy way out, then take L
I have taken this guy for anatomy 1 and 2, and it was torture, do to the fact that he's just about the only anatomy teacher at dsc daytona. He talks very fast, and speaks as if you should already know the information. If you have a way out, DO NOT take him!!
Dr. Lovell is an amazing teacher. He really helped me understand the material and always brought a laugh to the classroom. He's a nice guy and not bad to look at either :)
Not bad to look at? Well, only if you like Skinny Jesus! Cool teacher though.
GORGEOUS to look at, hard to pay attention! HARD class, HARDER tests. Wording is way too confusing. He talks WAY too fast (he's too smart and doesn't realize we're NEW!) GREAT at his job and it shines through :) He's better in lab than lecture, I got an A, although 85 won't be an A after this semester in his class anymore. GOOD LUCK!
He's very wishy washy. 1 min. he act helpful and the next annoyed. I loved the class, but I am not too sure about him. I took him for both 1&2. He has a tendency to talk down to students a little. I dunno... enter at your own risk. He takes his job very seriously.
First of all, this isn't an English or Psychology class... it's science. You have to devote the time to study. It's not his fault this isn't an easy A subject. I found him very helpful when you approach him for questions. He will not not coddle you, you have to do the work, and put the time in. Glad to be done, but he was good!
He is a great teacher. He explains things well, gives great notes, and is there to help you with all that he can. Study the notes he gives. His test questions come, word for word, straight from there sometimes. Don?t be afraid to ask questions, he?ll take the time to help you understand.
He's a cool guy, but he sometimes gets annoyed when you ask questions. I took him for A&P 1 and for my first attempt at 2. I like how Doolan explains the material in a way that works for me, and Lovell's tests were written in the most confusing way possible. I never had trouble paying attention to Lovell, and he's a pretty good teacher.
He explains things really well and has a snarky sense of humor. Attendance is not mandatory, so if you're good, it's possible to just download his PPT notes and show up for labs and exams only. It's pretty tough to do in A&P though. Also he's a mega-hottie, so going to class isn't so bad.
Did not like him, had a better time learning on my own doing research on internet, which I did towards the end and my grades increased just not in time.
Lovell is a great professor. He makes his class very similar to how it is at a 4yr school. Attendance isn't mandatory but strongly encouraged because everything he says in lecture is on the exam. As long as you take the time to put in hours studying, you will do fine. Your lowest exam grade is dropped.
I consider myself lucky to have met Dr. Lovell. He's a great teacher who truly enjoys job.The class is not easy,I took him for A&P 1 and 2.I got A :)
Dr. Lovell talks down to students and is very condescending. He is not very approachable. Personally, I get the feeling that he does not like his job or even just people for that matter. Take the class with Dr. Doolin. He's helpful and easy to approach for help. He can also be very funny, while Lovell is beyond boring.
Dr. Lovell may be very intelligent however he talks down to his students. He is condescending and unapproachable. His tests are multiple choice but very hard, and purposely tricky and confusing. I learn a different way then how he teaches. Basically i need someone to dumb it down for me.
Dr. Lovell was an excellent prof. He makes powerpoint notes for you- great as an outline for your own notes- and the exams are right off those notes. His unexpected dry humor makes the class more enjoyable. He's eager to help with questions during office hours, and will go over questions you got wrong on exams with you individually if you like. A+
Go to class, pay attention. It's a a hard class, the professor really has nothing to do with it. You have to study to pass. The class will start out over full, and by the end less then half will be there.
Awesome teacher, he will tell you from the first day its up to you and it really is .If you want the grade be prepared to work for it. He will answer any questions you may have. If he doesnt know the answer( something more nursing or medical based) he can tell you where to find it. LOVED this class and this professor! excited for anatomy 2 with him
I have taken Dr. Lovell for A&PI, A&PII + Lab, and his specialty class, Cell Physiology. He is a phenomenal teacher!! Though, he does speak quickly, and does expect his students to be somewhat prepared before each class; but such is science! All questions are from powerpoints which are from the text book(good resource). I'd highly recommend him! :)
i wish there was homwrk,so i knew evrthing.stay on point from the beginnng.Lovell is alright..when you ask him quest.outside of class-he makes you feel as though you should already knw.but he answers everything you ask. He expects you to keep up.theres alot to knw don't fall behind.i do wonder how Doolin is in comparison.i hear his tests are hard
I had Dr. Pete for A&P 1,2,3 he is a Genious and if you have never had genious believe in you take his class. I think he is a nice person but I don't know what I do know is this year has been one of the most significant and stressful I have had and I'm a better person applying myself as his student. Good luck to you my friend
Dr. Lovell is AMAZING! I'm in love with him. His style of teaching is brilliant! Don't buy the book I had him for 1-2 and I have yet to open the book and got out with A's in both! He recommended I take his Self Phys class which I'm probably gonna do. Incredible teacher you do need to apply yourself though! Have fun! Doolin's got nothing on Lovell!
The class was amazing. I only wish I had of known now what I know now. I cannot stress this enough, buy a recorder, listen to his lectures until you think like him. What you don't understand read and re listen to him. He tells you everything plain as day in his lectures!!! I'm serious, buy a recorder, listen!
I don't know what this "stigma" surrounding Dr. Lovell is all about but he was a fantastic professor! I took A&P I over the summer and he allowed students to record his lectures and was more than willing to stay and explain concepts to you in both lab and lecture. He teaches off of his power points and makes you work HARD to get his "A"!
Dr. Lovell is an amazing professor. Your grade is definitely earned but if you attend class, pay attention, and study hard to grasp the concepts then you will succeed in this course. He explained things well and kept class entertaining with his side remarks. He is always willing to answer questions if you have any.I can't wait to take A&P 2 with him!
He is a great teacher. If you pay attention in class and show up, you can easily get an A. He does all of his tests off his power points that you print out and bring to class. I would definitely recommended him.
Here is the key to success in Lovell's A&P. Attend every lecture, record it, attend ALL the SI sessions and form study groups. If you do all these things, his class is the best learning experience you will ever have. He encourages critical thinking and makes you apply what you learned to understand the answers to his test questions.
Dr. Lovell is a difficult teacher but he know what he is doing. He pushes his students to think outside of the box, and to combine things that we learned in AP1 and through out the course. His exams are tricky, but if you study his powerpoints and take the time to think every question through, you will get an A. He will make you work hard for an A.
Dr. Lovell is a great instructor. You will learn a lot. Like others have mentioned, record lectures, attend lectures, attend the SI sessions. Dr. Lovell offers plenty of office hours. He lets you see your tests during his office hours. Test are hard if you don't study effectively. Forming study groups are very helpful.
Dr. Lovell is awesome! Review power points prior to class and when he goes over them, take notes on them. Record lectures if possible- relisten! He literally goes over every test question. Look at material on your own, then visit him. He's great at explaining anything one-on-one. He does not talk down to you. Learn the material, don't memorize it.
Dr. Lovell is a hard professor but an AWESOME teacher. You really need to be willing to study and put in the time, attend SI sessions. Its not an easy A. He is very knowledgable and explains things so well but his test are hard. I took this class without a text book and was fine.
Excellent teacher. I passed this class with a C simply because of my own personal slack. Record classes if you can. If you put in the effort YOU WILL PASS. His test questions come directly from the lectures. You will get what you put in!!!
First of all, attend every his lecture, second, do not hesitate or afraid to ask your question during the lecture, if you think you will seem stupid you are wrong! Third, study for understanding all information from his lectures and labs will be important for your career.
Dr.Lovell is a great teacher. I had another teacher in A&P I and I only wish I would have had Dr. Lovell. The material was so much easier to understand with him. he is very straight forward and does not add in alot of off topic comments. This was a great class and a great teacher!!!!
Dr.Lovell is a great teacher! He is easy to understand and easy to ask questions to. All of the test come from either lecture or his power points so there is no confusion. It was a great class, i would recommend Dr. Lovell highly!
He uses a lot of helpful analogies and makes a difficult class easy. He teaches off of powerpoints that are available online and bases the test off of the powerpoints. I would recommend him to any type of learner.
So far so good. His lectures are difficult sometimes but he explains things so you can understand what he's talking about. I am currently attending his class and I have yet to take a test first one next Monday.
Dr. Lovell has been my favorite teacher I've had in a very long time. Lectures are very clear and if you aren't getting something don't be afraid to ask, he likes you to ask questions, and for you to be able to answer his questions. You earn your grade you put the time in to learn the material and you will pass. I will be taking him again for AP2.
I didn't think his test were too hard, just make sure to study the material. The questions come right from his powerpoints which he posts online so best thing to do is print them out and take your notes during lecture on them, then just study that. He explains things really well, and makes sure no one has any questions before moving on.
Dr. Lovell takes AP to a different level. He makes you think. Critical thinking, Hmmmm, sounds like something you need for a medical career. I appreciate his method of teaching. After completing the semester you actually leave with knowledge that you can take with you into your field. He is always there to help you with any questions you may have.
He's a great Professor! I really like his class! You should definitely STUDY if you want an A or B in the class.
If you want to learn, and keep it, take his class.
Dr. Lovell is an amazing teacher. Yes his tests are difficult but if you study and pay attention you should be fine. All of his tests come from his power points not the book. You really need to learn the material not memorize to pass his tests. He is always willing to go over anything again and will answer any question.
Lovell turns difficult material into something so easy to understand. I would recommend going to every lecture (and recording it).
The class was hard but if you study and actually get to the point where you understand the material not just memorizing it, you will do fine! Attendance isnts mandatory , there was only 4 tests and he drops one at the end. I didn't go to class ever just studyed from the online PowerPoint's and passed with a B no need for a lecture book only lab!
Lovell is a genius. I took his A&P courses, both in 6 weeks and a year apart. Reckless? No. Lovell makes you want to learn. I would take any and all of his classes if I could. I'm in nursing school now and I aced Pathophysiology easily because of the foundation he gave me. He is a wealth of information and he's funny. Go to class.
Took him for lab. He is a great teacher, he'd only get aggravated when people were clueless which I understand. I retained a lot from him and all the quizzes come from the handouts (Squires makes the quizzes/exams) I definitely recommed him. Has a laid back hippie vibe lol
Love the class, have him for lab as well. He's great! Can't wait for AP2
Dr. Lovell is awesome, he's a genius. I have him for A&P 1 lecture and lab. He goes over the power points in lecture and his tests questions come straight from it. Don't memorize the material, learn it. He makes things very clear and answers any questions. Do NOT skip class, he goes over a lot of material in one. He's pretty laid back and funny.
Dr. Lovell seems harsh but just wants to see you put an effort into your grade. Is always extremely helpful. Record the lectures and listen to them again with the notes taken in class. It really helps improve your grades. From the first test, I went from a 72 to 92 by relistening to them. I also recorded the lab lectures, Go ask Lovell questions.
It was awful
lovell is awesome. he is very clear and expects you to do well. record the lectures! study! pay attention. not an easy a, but if you study you can do well. try to understand the material- dont just memorize. he will ask things backwards on exams from how he teaches them to be sure you understand material. im taking him again for ap2 in the summer
Dr. Lovell is an amazing professor! Is A+P easy? No! But for those going into the medical field, you can't expect it to be easy! If you want a good grade -show up, listen, and study. That's it. If you spend 30 minutes a day going over the material, then the tests won't be hard! He doesn't give homework OR extra credit so STUDY THE POWERPOINTS!
This class was great! Dr. Lovell is a great professor. He explains everything with such great detail and clarity that any student taking his class, will understand the material. Definitely show up to class. Yes, his powerpoints are online, but he goes into great depth in class! Don't just memorize the material, learn and understand it!!!
If you're looking for an easy A this is not it! Dr. Lovell gives amazing lectures which really help you understand the material. His tests are tough and thought provoking. You must be able to think through the material to get a good grade.
He was an amazing Lab teacher. I felt that I learned more in this class than I was able to show on tests. You must memorize spelling exactly. There is no word banks for labeling. You would learn about things through a book, but wouldn't be same format on test. Lots of applying what was briefly touched in class. Worked extremely for a C!
He talks very very very fast, and goes through everything fast fast fast. He isn't a bad teacher you just really have to be a little more advanced to keep up with him.
I have had Dr. Lovell for both Anatomy and Physiology I & II, lecture and lab. He is one of the "few" best teacher I've ever had. His lectures and his powerpoint are gold. I keep going back to them until today while in pharmacy school. I got A in both classes but it needs work and study. My advice is ATTEND ALL his lectures and take notes.
Mr. Lovell was THE BEST teacher I've had yet, and I'm going through the Nursing Program right now! You won't regret taking him, but be prepared to study. RECORD HIS LECTURES. Recording is pure gold for making sure you got everything he says in his lectures, which is a lot of stuff. Great guy and very smart! Wish I could take him in more classes!
Just finished a 6 week summer class for a&p 2. This class is very challenging but so worth it. Lovell is the best teacher I've ever had. You'll learn so much from him, but you have to put the work in. Record the lectures. Form a study group. As long as you put the work in, you won't regret taking him. I wish there were more like him
Knowlegable of subject material, though lectures and exams are unecessarily complicated. It ends up being more of a class on your reading comprehension than A&P. I typically know when I miss exam questions, but with his exams I end up missing 5-10x more than I thought because the questions are not straight forward and designed to trick you.
Hard class (obviously) and a horrible teacher. Tests are very tricky the answers will be very similar. He expects you to learn most of the material on your own and his lab teachers suck. Take Lovell if you can/want to be challenged but dont take him if you want to fail. I failed every tests and had to drop the class half way through. Dont do it.
I loved having Dr. Lovell as a teacher. It is true that he goes through material fast, but he explains the material very thoroughly. If you leave class so confused it is your job to go to SI, tutoring and get help with this class because Lovell will move on in the next lecture. As for his tests I was surprised at how straight forward they were.
So many people complained about Lovell, and I have no idea why. He is extremely smart, but explains everything to you in an understandable way. He makes it very clear what you should study, and suggests how to study. No attendance taken, didn't use the textbook. Got an A by studying lecture notes 3 times a week and drawing his diagrams over & over.
Took him for A&P, both for lecture and for lab. I highly suggest that if you are required to take a chemistry class for your degree that you take it before taking this class. You'll need the lab book you won't need the text book. There are 4 , 50 question multiple choice tests. The Lab Midterm & final have no word bank or multiple choice .
Seriously, this guy is great. He's not easy, but he gives fantastic lectures and really forces students to understand how their bodies work.
I had to take Professor Lovell's A&P 1 class twice. First time I had to withdraw, second time I passed with an A. He's an amazing professor. He really enjoys what he teaches and he has some quirky ways of making you remember it. Both semesters, the class started with around 50 + students dropped down to less than 30 by the time of the final. STUDY
I am currently a 3rd semester RN student at DSC. I remember Dr. Lovell telling us we would remember his lectures when we get to RN school. HE WAS RIGHT! When I take exams in the nursing program, which are NOTHING LIKE prereqs, I see his face, remember his lectures and the answer comes to me. I am scoring well in the RN program, and I owe it to him!
Good teacher for a hard course. Even after I took his class i stopped by his office to ask a question and he went in full detail and even drawing out a diagram for me. He was definitely intimidation the first day but dont let it scare you off.
Overall he is a great teacher. If you don't want someone blunt with the way he tell you the truth, don't take him. If you don't study and pay attention in his class YOU WILL NOT PASS, end of story. He knows what he's teaching, so pay close attention, draw his diagrams, and record the lectures.
Although Dr. Lovell's classes weren't the easiest I've taken, he's still a fantastic professor and I really enjoyed both A&P 1 and 2 with him. He's a super smart guy and really knows what he's talking about. As long as you organize your notes and STUDY, you will be fine!
Dr. Lovell was my favorite teacher I have ever had. I took him for A&P 1 &2. You are going to need your lab book for lab, but you dont need a textbook for a class so dont bother buying it. MAKE STUDY GUIDES , RECORD THE LECTURES, and GO TO SI and you will get an A, from someone that has never gotten under a 90 on his tests both semesters.
I took a&p 1&2 with Lovell and I am now in a RN program. I remember his lectures and diagrams in my head and refer back to what he taught me all the time. Just study and don't be afraid to go for help
Students getting up/down throughout lecture to leave class were annoying bc I sat up front near the door. I think once lecture starts, you dont need to be in/out class or youll miss important info. I found his tests to be challenging but thats on me. Lovell is witty & put enough humor in lectures to stay interesting. Id take A&P too if I could.
Dr. Lovell is a wonderful professor. He's incredibly smart and passionate about his field, but he's not arrogant. If I had a question in lab he would sit down and discuss it with me and make sure that I understood the material. His lectures are great and he does his best to make them interesting and entertaining. Would take his class again!
really good lecturer. everything on the exams is discussed in class, so it's probably not a good idea to skip.
AP 1 is a hard class, no matter who the teacher is. Dr. Lovell is an amazing teacher. His lectures and slides are clear and help a lot. He gives a lot of time for questions. His personality can be intimidating, but over all he does care about the subject and students. If you want an A in lecture and lab STUDY STUDY STUDY. And then STUDY some more.
He is very clear with what you are being graded on. 4 or 5 tests in his lecture and lowest is dropped. 12 (or so) quizzes and two practicals in his lab class. I passed his lab with a B+ but failed his lecture horribly. Making my grade a 69.7, failing his class but this was my own fault. Great teacher, wish he could of bumped me a bit. Learned a lot
If you record his lecture like he says, and listen to those as your study tools, you will pass easily. Study the way he tells you too at the beginning of the semester, it works!
Tests are the only grades through lecture
Lovell is the best prof I have had at DSC. His lectures are clear and simple to understand, he is very knowledgeable, and he is happy to answer any questions. You MUST show up for class. He draws great diagrams and drops hints for exams. Funny and makes the material easy to understand. Take notes, study, and pass.
Great Teacher. The material and ideas of A+P build upon each other so it is wise to start studying your best ASAP! Pay attention to diagrams. Record lectures. Print the PowerPoints. Memorize the information, but make sure you understand it! Blind memorization is pointless! Everything on PowerPoints and labhandouts are fair game for the tests! STUDY
Awesome professor. Definitely changed my whole perspective about the human body. His lectures were so entertaining, I could listen to him talk for hours. Prepared me for nursing school 100%.
He is so knowledgable on this subject, and super enthusiastic about it. Any one who has questions, he has an immediate detailed answer for it. There is a lot of material to understand but if you study the lecture notes and pay attention in class, you should do fine. He also will drop one of the lowest test grades you have.
I'm currently in his class now SI and any extracurricular activity that could help me and I'm still having a difficult time passing this class. Lovell is rude unapproachable sarcastic and speaks extremely fast in his lectures that you'll be left teaching yourself his test are nothing like what you learned designed to trick you he is terrible !!!
I really like him as a person, genuine, good guy. But there are too many exams in his class. He does drop your lowest score, which is really nice of him to do. 4 exams + a final, in addition to the midterm and final in lab is a bit much. The final is also 2 days after the last exam. This course gives me anxiety. Too many EXAMS, should be quizzes.
I am about halfway through his AP1 course, and I absolutely love his teaching! It is really important to manage your time between the lab portion and the lecture. He teaches exactly what will be on the test and creates a helpful powerpoint for each chapter that students can print out on their own. Always attend class because it is fast paced.
The class is not easy, and it's very test heavy. So much material, and the tests are hard. Dr. Lovell can tell the hard working students from the bad, and I appreciate that. He takes time for the students that put in effort, even if they're struggling.
The man's brain is an absolute weapon, and he's by far one of the most brilliant people I've ever met. His speaking abilities, he knows so much about this topic its as if he's a human textbook. He's right there to shoot back a detailed answer to any question you have. I recommend Dr. L to any person interested in pursuing any health related career.
Lectures are drawn out and he explains every little thing. Tests are hard with trick questions, but it requires you to think critically. You have to study! Ive learned so much. Overall very good professor and very smart.
Dr. Lovell has a rep. for being a hard ass, and while he can be, it's only towards students who are looking for an easy class and want to pass without any work. I've taken him for both A&P, and am happy I did. I learned a lot from him. Don't take him if you want to coast. If you want to really learn about AP, I highly recommend Lovell.
Attendance is not mandatory, but in the lecture he tells you everything that will be on the 4 tests and final so I wouldn't skip if I were you. If you could, taking his class for lecture and lab will be the best option. Funny
Everything thats on the test comes from his power points and if you pay attention in class everything you need to know for the exams he will go into great detail about. Study a little bit every day and you'll be just fine. You can see him during office hours if you want to review exams and see what you missed. You don't need a book!
Dr. Lovell, hands down, is one of my favorite teachers. His criteria is fair and easy to follow. I suggest you record his lectures as they are very enlightening and worth keeping. Also note the concepts you are struggling with in class and ask either Dr. Lovell or the SI instructor for further explanation. Stay organized and print his power points.
Dr. Lovell, is one of my favorite teachers. I've taken him for both A&P 1 and 2. Follow his clear instruction, records his lectures and don't be afraid to ask him or the SI instructor questions. I refer to the information he taught daily, and you may too if you go into the medical field. Thanks Dr. Lovell, keep up the great work!
Hes great. Literally one of my favorites. His lectures are amazing and the way he explains things in his own words kept my interest. Grades on tests only and he drops the lowest grade.
Great professor! He's passionate about A&P. Get ready to study 2 or 3 weeks before the exam. Understand the diagrams he draws and pay attention to each detail.
Class has a lot of info so make sure you're keeping up studying; info you learn at the beginning of the semester is still relevant at the end. The class is 100% lecture but he's a fantastic teacher; explains stuff well & its practical applications. Don't skip class; the most important info is given during the lecture.
I took him in the fall semester on campus and I must say his lectures were very entertaining for both lecture and lab. Quizzes at the end of each lab and homework due beginning of each lab. Anatomy and Physiology is a generally harder course because of the amount of information you need to learn, but he makes it stick. Must attend class and study.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!! Wish i could take him for AP2 but he told me that he would still help me if i reached out. You will learn so much.
His study guides and lecture material was never on his quizzes. No matter how hard u study, you will struggle.
An amazing professor! Very caring, you can tell he loves what he teaches. He provides amazing lectures that will give you lots of information. If there is anything that you don't understand, he will be more than happy to explain it to you until you understand it! One of my favorite professors!
Dr. Lovell is such an amazing professor! The lectures make the material super clear and Dr. Lovell is always happy and available to help by email or during office hours. I would definitely take him again and wish he was teaching AP2 next semester! Such a nice and funny person too. I definitely recommend taking him for AP1.
His study guides and power points do not cover any of the material on the quizzes. There is no final, just quizzes. I studied hard & I still struggled. He is nice but, beware.
Insanely obtuse instructor who seems to purposely avoid ANY practical aspects of A&P! As an LPN, I actually APPLY A&P knowledge in my work and this class focuses on largely irrelevant biochemistry without real-world applications. The tests are not weighted to the emphasized aspects of the lecture or textbook. No relevant basics are included.
If you really pay attention to his lectures and understand the material, you will be fine. He goes over his lectures based off the PowerPoints and study guides. I advise you to print those out!! Overall, great professor who cares. Strongly recommend for AP1
Dr. Lovell gives great lectures. They are very clear and he explains things very well. The worksheets provided for the SI sessions are very helpful to study before taking the quizzes.
Loved taking this class, easy work but tests were very difficult if you didnt read the book and watch lecture videos. Great professor!
I took Dr. Lovell's AP1 class, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I worked hard in this class. He always emphasized that I should not memorize the words, but understand them. I recommend going to his office hours, he explained things as many times as I needed it. When I asked for help, he was more than willing. He wants his students to succeed.
I took Dr Lovell for A&P 1 and he was amazing. As long as you watch the videos first then go to his lecture you will pass the class. All his quizzes are easy if you study and ask for help when you are confused you should be fine!
I had taken the accelerated version of this class and the only positive that came from it is that it ended quickly. The lecture is 60% while the lab is 40%, his test had questions that he definitely just came up with and made no sense at all.
Dr. Lovell's lectures are good but VERY fast. You'll have to rewatch multiple times to understand and process everything he says. The class is extremely hard, but that's with any Anatomy&Physiology class. You need to study every day, or you're gonna have a really hard time. Also, don't fall behind, you'll drown. Super content and test heavy.
As long as you are applied, you can easily get an A. Had Lovell for AP1+2, his classes are challenging but very educational. If you study regularly, and take decent notes you will do well on tests. Tests can be challenging and confusing but if u dedicate time to understanding the material they make sense. Genuinely enjoyed these classes!
Dr. Lovell is an amazing teacher, but you have to go to every lecture and take really good notes if you want to succeed in his class. The only grades in the lecture portion of the class are tests so you have to make time to study constantly. You will not succeed if you try to cram right before a test.
Professor Lovell is a great teacher. In lecture he really makes sure that students understand the concepts rather than memorization. I studied for this class by watching the recorded virtual lectures & comparing notes that I took in lecture. His exams are hard and questions will throw you off but he gets rid of the lowest exam grade which is nice.
Absolutely amazing. I will be selecting him as my professor for APII.
Dr. Lovell is the most intelligent human i have ever met!! He is very enthusiastic and explains everything clearly. He also stops between topics to ask if there are any questions. He also provides extensive office hours to help his students do better. The course is tough but he makes you WANT to come to class and learn more.
If you do not need to take this class don't do it.
This was the hardest class I've taken. Lectures were not mandatory but you NEED to show up if you want to understand the powerpoints and be ready for exams. Honestly, Professor Lovell is really great at explaining things in depth and he gives many opportunities to clarify so ask questions. My biggest tip is to show up to his class and study often.
I took Peter Lovell for AP1 and AP2. The lectures were pretty good as this professor is very smart. I do feel though at times he went through topics very quick providing less time to finish taking notes on what the current subject was. I did enjoy learning and understanding anatomy in this course. This professor pops and a few jokes here and there.
Dr. Lovell was great. Many in my class struggled but the class itself is not easy you must put in the work. Dr Lovell goes over everything in the online classroom from how to study for his class and how you should prepare. If you read everything and do the things he says you will do fine. This is not a class you can just skate through.
I took him for AP 1. He posts every lecture video online and makes content so accessible online. HOWEVER, I HIGHLY recommend attending lecture. It's not mandatory but it will truly give you an understanding of anatomy and physiology, like watching a youtube video. He is so incredibly knowledgeable he also adds in other anecdotes that add context
The best professor ever. He has such a wealth of knowledge and makes the material so comprehensible you'll feel like you're watching a buzzfeed video the entire time
Professor Lovell's AP1 class is challenging but worth it. His lectures are engaging, and he provides great explanations. Attending class is crucial - it really helps solidify the material. I also found Unstuck ai super helpful for exam prep.
The material is hard for people with no prior knowledge and he doesn't make you feel bad for asking dumb questions or not knowing. The tests are extremely hard if you don't study. You have to study in this class and attend lectures to pass. Im so happy he was an option at daytona state, truly gave me a passion for this subject I didn't know I had.
Dr Lovell is one of the most respectable teachers i have ever had. he gives you everything you need to pass, as long and you put in the effort. I took BCS 1085 last semester and it was difficult but with Lovells help it was a breeze. Attendance isn't mandatory make sure you show up because his lectures explain everything perfectly. Good Luck!
My goodness, love him so much! Easiest course! 4 exams, optional 5th of you do bad on the one of the previous 4. To not pass this class is a literal crime. Show up, his classes are under 1hr most of time, most finish exams in 15 minutes, like me. He gives you everything you need & you can test outside of class if you get permission.
I wish Dr. Lovell could teach all of my classes. You can just tell he is super passionate about the subjects and explains it in a way that anyone can understand. In my course, the lecture was graded by one online quiz a week, granted they were a bit difficult but nothing he didn't cover. There was no final exam. Definitely recommend him.
Dr. Lovell is a super intelligent guy and he explains the material extremely well but you have to study really hard to pass his class. The content is very heavy so it was kinda hard to learn but I also slacked and ended up getting a D. Bottom line is that if you are disciplined enough then you will pass.
Professor Lovell is a very nice guy and he knows his stuff- however, if you are unable to be taught based mostly by someone speaking and not writing down things on the board I would not recommend him. His lectures are extremely specific and can be confusing at times. The tests will not be written the same either. Studying will take hours each day.
Very thorough, you can tell he cares. Grading criteria was clear and self-explanatory. He answered all questions and encouraged them. One of my favorite professors of the semester. His class is an easy A, if you come to class or go through the lecture slides you'll pass with ease.
