this class wasn't that hard

Good teacher but is picky and hard when it comes to grading.

Yes, he's hard but I learned a lot about writing.

yea yea hes unclear but just ask and it will help his lectures are boring but somehow they help b/c he highlights the key points he wants mentioned in the essays his office hours suck but just ask him if u have questions he'll kinda clear it up I GOT AN A

good guy, but was a hard grader and was very boring. He doesn't seem to like what he does and gives a bad vibe to the rest of the class.

Nice guy, kinda boring lectures...but there's only little bit of reading, and 3 papers all semester, no other tests or homework...always willing to answer questions and help.

He is SO easy. Attendance counts, so you actually have to go to his class. Your grade rests on 3 papers and participation. The papers were really easy; I did them the morning they were due, and I got A's on all 3. Nice guy

very nice man. was fairly lenient with allowing me to turn in papers late. all we had to do in the class was turn in 4 papers. no final. no tests

guy cracked me up, all the stuff the people below said is right. if you want a good laugh ask him for directions to his office, he will draw you a map for like 20 min. very nice guy.

He was pretty easy. All you have are 4 papers. You have to turn in a rough draft for all of them and he gives you an idea of how to make your paper better. If you change what he tells you, you'll get an A. He hates to let you out early, but by the end he gets better. I'dtake him if you can.

nice and intelligent professor. Manley helped me become a better writer. The material can be boring at times but try to participate and pay attention in class and it becomes interesting. Go to class! it will help with writing essays and attendance counts.

he was very helpful and we did a lot of class actvities that helped me to write the papers. also he really helps you with your drafts so that you will know what he expects in the final paper

he starts the class by claiming that its advanced and very hard but its an easy class. you will not learn anything, but he is a nice guy.a good way to pass and get that class out of the way

i was supposed to do the rws 305w course to fulfill the english requirement, but got this course instead. 503w is much easier than 305 since there are no essays. simple grammar quizes like you did in grade school. simple assignments like resume and cover sheets. biggest project is the formal report and oral presentation which is also rather easy.

I loved this class. First off, I hate English, but I thought that he was such a great teacher. Yea, he was a little boring at times, but he was very passionate about it, and gave very helpful reviews of drafts, and really wants you to do well. Class is a bore, but his reading is all very interesting.

This is a good class to take to help your GPA. If you show up to class and do the work, you will do very well and learn a few things. It is a little boring, but what English/Writing class isn't? PROF Manley is a great guy and his grading is fair. Plus, he explains everything really well. If you hate traditional Writing classes, take this one!

Enthusiastic and knowledgable, but a bit dependant on Power Point. Fair grader and helpful when needed. He does tend to ramble though and the pacing gets irritating after a while. Texts really aren't needed

Takes attendance every class, so go. Grades are based on 4 papers. He grades pretty hard but if you pay attention you should do ok. Class is pretty boring, but you are only graded on 4 papers and no test, quizes, or anything, so things balance out. He goes over the material so reading isn't essential.

Writing for engineers. Easy class. Class got annoying after awhile because attendance was mandatory and nothing important was done in class. Book was very helpful, so helpful he didn't even need to lecture. He's wack on attendance and hates those who ditch. But seriously, there were way more important things for me to do than to attend this class.

The writing class for engineers was extremely helpful. The textbook really helps for future use. Not too much work. Must be willing to put effort on writing papers. This class is really beneficial for engineering majors.

Okay so I read the comments on here b4 attending class and I was so nervous. EVERYONE WAS WRONG. Manley is great! His assignments are fun and they allow you to be creative with your writing. He provides you with a rubric and if you make sure u follow that you'll do just fine. Quizzes are a piece of cake and his lectures aren't to bad! TAKE HIM!

I loved taking professor Manley. I thought he was a great professor. Quizzes are super easy if you read the book. He grades papers fairly and gives you a rubric that spells out what you need to do. I would definitely take him if you can!!! Some of the other comments are outrageous.

Awesome teacher to take during the summer. Very easy going and helpful. Three papers and one group final. Respect him, he knows his stuff.

Professor Manley is AWESOME!! He's very approachable and if you go to the voluntary days and have him look at your paper he gives you great advice and pretty much writes the paper for you, and you can rewrite it if you don't like your grade. Class could be boring, but it's an English class so what else would you expect. Overall he's GREAT!TAKE HIM!

He is looking for a certain type of writing, some characteristics which I thought were awful. His class is incredibly boring! I did not want to come to his class, ever! He talks to us like we are dumb. I do not understand why this is a mandatory class, it is unbearable to sit through. Work is pretty easy, though.

I've never rated a professor before but i feel its vital to warn other students to avoid the same misery I was forced to suffer through. Easy assignments, but hands down the most boring, tedious, mind-numbing lectures I've ever had to endure, I would rather hang out with Hitler for three hours than with Manley. Save yourself, he is the worst.

I took his RWS 305W. I used a résumé he helped me create and was able to land a great job. Mr Manley may be a little tough but if you do the work you can easily get an A and a great job!!!

This was my favorite class my freshman year of college. Professor Manley is not credited for being such a good teacher!! If you enjoy writing you will do good in his class. He BARELY gives any homework, is super helpful outside of class, and is not a hard grader.

The only downside to this class is his lectures are boring and attendance is 15% of your grade. Few EASY online quizzes based on chapters from the textbook, most questions are common sense. EASY group presentation. Essays that he grades EASY. Overall easy class but bring a pillow to sleep through the lectures (wait you can't he'll call you out).

Its very hard to get an A on his essays even a B. He takes attendance everyday. He's a very nice prof very caring.

Manley is a great guy and super caring. There is no problem taking this class with him. Very informative with what he wants for the assignments and grades them fairly. Don't listen to the reviews about this class being boring, how exciting can business writing actually get with any professor.

Manley is pretty cool, he may be redundant in his lectures, but it's better to be clear than concise + unclear. Most of you need to be spoon-fed, even if it means others have to hear the same thing 10x. Profs read lectures to us because they know we might not even look at them at home. He makes class and assignments easy, that's why it seems boring

Everyone complaining just doesn't know how to write a good paper. If you're a meticulous writer with good grammar and structure, it's an easy A. Manley was a cool guy who would help you if you asked for help. I never got less than a 90% on any of my essays. Maybe don't take him if your writing isn't the best because no, he doesn't give feedback.
