everything comes straight from the book. he uses powerpoint everyday and the notes come directly from them. he usually does some type of experiment to show an idea, some of them are pretty cool. tests are all multiple choice and straight from the book definitions.

He's such a fun professor. His class isn't hard to sit through at all, he makes it very interesting and fun. His tests are hard, but only if you don't study. Don't just study the book, he throws some things in from the notes that you wouldn't know if you don't. Great professor.

great class. thorough notes, fair tests, funny, great videos and prepares you for all other psych courses you wish to take. final exam cumilative, but if you are satisfied with your grade up till then and don't want to drop another test, you can opt not to take the final.

Really good professor. He explains everything really clearly and makes the class really interesting. He is also really witty, and tests are really easy as long as you know the notes.

Shows alot of older films to illustrate examples of what notes are about. good sense of humor. Likes feedback, really relaxed. Class is a must; doesn't put notes online. don't have to take final if 1st 5 tests get you an good grade.

Good class. Attendence isn't mandatory, but going is the only way to get notes. Tests are straightforward and easy if you take a night to study for them. Tests make up 100% of your grade, and you can drop your lowest score, including the final which is optional

Very good teacher overall. All the notes are very straight forward. You really only need the book for vocab, class isn't mandatory but it definately helps to go and get the notes. He is very good at explaining topics and making sure you understand them. He starts off every class & day before exam with review. RECOMMENDED.

Amazing class. Dr. Wessels made everything so easy to understand, and as long as you went to class, took the notes, and wrote down key examples that he gave, you are guaranteed a good grade. Textbook use is mostly for vocab, but it's better to actually read the chapter since he likes to use vocab in practical applications. But Awesome professor!

You had to go to class because he didnt post his notes but there were no curveballs on the tests. As long as you took notes and paid attention youll do fine. Reading the textbook also helps a lot with clarifying examples

He's a really nice proffesor. Makes class fun. His tests are all application tests which makes them hard. He does want people to do well but is pretty hard. Don't take his class if you want an easy A because you definitely won't get it. Again, he is nice and tries to make class fun and you will learn alot.

I really enjoyed this class. prof. wessels made the lectures interesting and enjoyable to listen to and learn about so i didn't mind coming to class. The tests were not to bad if you studied. Overall i really liked this class and professor wessels.

Tests are easy as long as you study because although they are all multiple choice, he uses applied knowledge to test understanding. As far as the textbook, just study boldfaced words and that is all you'll need. Overall, a great course!

I love this class. Wessels makes class interesting and fun. There were a few papers but they were short and not too bad. Just STUDY for the exams and you'll be fine. Go to class, listen to his EXAMPLES and write them down, a lot of times they show up word for word on the exam. He is passionate about this subject and he is the reason I enjoy class

Wessels is the greatest teacher I've had this year! He made me love psychology so much more and I'm a psych major. He engaged the entire class, even though it was a huge lecture. If you are taking for the Miami Plan, I highly recommend as well. It's an easy and interesting class for MP credit. Awesome class, awesome professor. TAKE IT!

Wonderful class, fascinating teacher. Show up, take notes, and answer his questions (getting engaged with the class in this way will make everything much more memorable come exam time). A solid footing in psychology & an enjoyable way to fulfill the Miami Plan. Don't be like 90% of the class & start his papers the night before they're due.

Wessels is a great and entertaining professor. Class with him is extremely interesting though his exams are tough. He uses practical use questions instead of term and definition. It takes a little getting used to.

Great teacher! Lectures are engaging, notes are good and tests are not too difficult if you actually study. Don't technically need the book except for some of the online assignments. Easy class if you pay attention.

He is a very good professor. He makes his lecture engaging and interesting and has guided notes you can print off, which makes taking notes much easier. Also, there is no textbook, which is a plus. As long as you show up to class, pay attention, and study, you should have no problem getting an A on his exams.

He was very clear about all the assignments and made everything really easy to understand. This class is SO easy with him if you put in any effort whatsoever. Hardly any homework, only a couple of tests, and one paper, but also an activity grade -- meaning a+ in that section if you just show up! Be sure to take a few notes too.

Dr. Wessels is an excellent teacher. He doesn't use a textbook, so exams are entirely based off of his slideshowslectures. A decent portion of his class involves participation, but half of your grade is dependent on multiple-choice exams, which contain questions that require you to think at a moderately-high level. He's very personable and helpful

Wessels is very laid back, however, he makes a point to not post anything but blank slides with random parts of the powerpoint online so I mean it when I say that if you miss a lot of class you had better already know what he is lecturing over. His lectures are interesting, but he can occasionally move things at a pretty fast pace so pay attention.

He works really hard to get the point across to everyone. He kind of dumbs down the science aspects of psych which was really helpful for me. You are required to participate in studies which unfortunately takes up a lot of time but other than that it is a pretty easy and awesome class.

I am a psych major and was so happy to have Wessels. While the class is lecture based, he keeps it interesting and is able to give informative examples that help you differentiate concepts. He is very accessible and will let you come in to go over exams. The research paper is difficult and time consuming though. Great professor!

Great professor. Came in as a psych major and switched, so I won't take him again, but I really liked his class and am so bummed I won't take him again. The research paper is hard so heads up. If you don't go to class you won't know the stuff, but his lectures are super interesting and he always lets out early/ right on time. Funny and engaging.

Dr. Wessels is amazing! He is clear and straight-forward from the very beginning. The paper is challenging but as long as you put time and effort into his class you should do well. He gives great feedback and wants everyone to succeed! I'm excited to take him for future courses.

It is an interesting class and he makes the material very interesting. He asks for participation from students, which keeps you engaged in the class. There is a paper for the whole semester that has three deadlines, but it is a huge part of the grade. Lectures are Monday and Friday with a small group discussion with TAs on Wednesdays.

Dr. Wessels was really good at explaining in lectures and always open to help out of class. You do not have to go to class but what he says in lecture can be helpful for exams. You have one big paper due at the end of the semester but you have assignments to prepare you for it and discussion leaders for help.

He is my favorite professor. He tries to make you laugh every class and will explain things in 7 different ways if they will help you understand. If you have the chance, take this professor, as long as you're willing to listen to him- you'll get an A.

Great professor who always has interesting real life examples. The only difficult part is the research essay but you get lots of different points for it so it's not horrible. He even lets you drop an exam so I didn't have to show up to my final. Great guy!

Best professor ever. If you're taking PSY111, definitely take him. He has some learning quizzes and modules that you can get full marks for completion. Three exams, but he lets you drop the lowest one, and his exams are really easy if you take careful notes. Super funny guy, his classes are never boring.

He was funny, and told a lot of personal stories to get his class engaged. This was however an extremely lecture heavy class. If you don't attend the lectures, you won't learn any of the material and won't pass any of the 3 major exams of the semester. That said, he does have a lot of cushion point assignments that will help you with your grade.

He's a great professor, one of the best in the psychology department. Take this class if you want someone whos very fair, nice, and tests make sense if you pay attention in class.

This was an easy and interesting class. Its mostly graded by exams, but you can drop one. Showing up and taking notes is enough. This semester he let people zoom into class, which was nice. Exams are only 40 MC, including the final. There was almost no work outside of class that needed to be done. Professor Wessels cares and is very funny.

Dr.Wessles is the epitome of a great educator. He really wants you to learn even if it's just for Miami Plan credit, thus attendance is a substantial part of the grade. And the class is the perfect level of difficulty for the 100-level course yet comprehensive. You will leave the class learning something helpful and applicable.

This class was a lot of fun and not too difficult. Dr. Wessels lectures during class and then you have a few exams during the semester. PSY111 was very fun and engaging. The exams are quite difficult, but all the information for the exams is provided in the lectures. Easy way to earn extra points, and he is very easy to reach. As long as you stay focused and attend the lectures, it will be easy not to fall behind. Worst exam grade is dropped.

I love Prof Wessels! This is the first psych class I've ever taken, and he has inspired me to want to take more. He is a very engaging lector and there is no homework. As long as you attend all the lectures and take good notes, you should be fine!

I would say this class is pretty easy as long as you are prepared for the exams. Everything you need to know is in the lectures and class itself is interesting. There's only one homework assignment a week that takes like 5 minutes.

Professor Wessels is a great person! He's really funny and knowledgeable! Little amount of homework (very easy) but test heavy. For an intro level course, instead of explaining content based on "definition and meaning", the material was more applied in forms of examples (like videos or case studies) which was difficult at times to understand.

Truly wants his students to do well. A lot of your grade is determined by attendance and a weekly assignment that only takes about five minutes so if you are not a strong test taker do not worry. There is also only 3 exams and one of them gets dropped. My best advice is to show up to class and take notes.
