Very hard prof. Qs on exams very tricky!Be careful when choosing him.
Encourages you to participate in class in order to make you understand. I enjoyed his class.

The case study examples that we did during lectures did not help with the exam at all.

His lectures are useless. As long as you have the online notes he puts up, and read the book, you're set.
excellent prof....very very coool....modir rocks
i m trying not to hate the players but the game but man, this guy sucks! he wants you to talk in class cuz he himself has no idea!
Very nice prof! I really enjoyed this course. He held the interest of the class and encouraged in-class discussions. NOT an easy marker, but FAIR! You have to understand the theories, and do not be fooled by the open book exam!
While the course was interesting, HE was totally useless. Not an original thought in his head, everything was from the slides (which he didn't make) or the book. Wants participation but then makes you feel like a dumbass for talking.
no good...o dont like his teaqching style.

Good professor, provides many interesting examples. He's pretty straight up on all issues. Tough grader though.
Complete Jerk!
very interesting learning styled class, exam is very irrelvant to class discussion, dont underestimate the open book test--marking is brutal in comparisson to the closed book exam
Very straight forward. taught his class, did the case and got out early. also very clear and interesting. word of advice on exams, examples = good marks
not a good prof
Wow, he's completely getting bashed. To be honest, i had him last year. He isnt as bad as everyone thinks. And mind u, hez not the one who marks the exams. He's very clear in conveying his message. All in he's alright. But of course we all know how hard open note book exams are!! so study!!!
class passes fast with this guy - only adms prof i found interesting
-not bad has interesting stories about software companies and going public, claims that he has raised money but I have some doubts about his skills raising cash or his biz plans capabilities. Should do more and talk less. All in all he is okay.
best prof I've ever had. Caught my attention, very funny and soooo hot!
He is very good. Now the exam was hard but thats a common exam. He did not write it. It was the only class where we no seats becasue everybody showed up.lol He is hot too.
Not very helpful, speaks about irrelevant things and is a very hard marker.
I enjoyed attending his lectures. His slides are easy to understand. Study the text book. His exams are fair. Case studies and you will do fine if you study your materials. He has his TA mark the exam papers.
His class is fine, he explains good and interesting stuff, BUT IT GETS USELESS WHEN THE EXAM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT HE TEACHES. Attending his lecture was useless. Fun, but didnt help your grade. TAs grade horrible, very stupid exam format. Be careful with the tricky exams and make sure you answer WAY MORE than what is asked.
I liked this prof alot. His lectures were very clear to understand. He gave us lots of hints for the exam and he really made sure we understood what we were learning. I'd love to take another course with him.
WORST PROF!!!!!!! Rather go with Karakowsky. Horrible prof, exam has nothing to do with what he teaches.
He is a good professor. Light and professional, he does good lectures. Attending class is important and he creates a light atmosphere, he gives hints for the midterm and exam. The exam DOES indeed make sense, but it's focused solely on one or two aspects of the course, so know the concepts. Write a lot. TAs mark horribly, be warned. Read cases!!
his class are always interesting
A rather good prf.. Gave lots of hints on midterm and exams. ALWays encourages students; telling them tere's still time to prepare themselves. TAs are hard makers though. and midterm and finals are long. HAve to write quite a lot and fast. TAlks a lot abt what is happ in the world at the beg of each lecture.
DUNT TAKE HIS CLASS, NUFF SAID!
By far the BEST prof I've had at York. Extremely clear and comprehendible. Uses the recent news as examples, which is good considering the textbook is a bit outdated. Interesting and promotes much class interaction - was able to catch the attention from the ENTIRE class. Was also helpful and available - constantly told the class to email w question
Once you get an idea as to how case studies are supposed to be done (which you should know after the first few classes), attending class is not required. But continue to read the textbook and case studies. Although, he was one of the more interesting profs I had, so I decided to go to each class.
he is a great prof......
The lectures were interesting but the exam wayy too difficult. I would not recomend anyone to take courses with this prof
He is intertesting in class but when it comes to the exams, you will see a different peter entirely. His final exam was so hard and closed book.
Very tough on his students. I had to try very hard to get that B I ended up with.
Whenever people answered a question in class they were shot down unless the answer was 100% correct which intimidated me. His email-replies were sometimes a few days late which was very frustrating. Not sure I'd take another class with him.
The lectures are very interesting but the exams are soOOo difficult
I liked him a lot.. know the textbook and youll do well, that's all there is to it. He's pretty hilarious
Good prof but his exams are way too hard. they don't seem hard but they mark it really tough.
Very good speaker. Keeps the class engaged and applies theories to current events. Too bad he doesn't know how to respond to emails. Still recommend him though.
Very good speaker. Keeps the class engaged and applies theories to current events. Too bad he doesn't know how to respond to emails. Still recommend him though.
I'm in fourth year and I found his exams very basic. After the second class he tells you exactly what he expects for you to write and from there itS just learning the theory. Don't bother attending class if you haven't done your readings prior cuz you won't get anything out of it. I could see some people finding him very intimidating ....
Really good professor. Keeps the class engaged and covers current events that are relevant to the material in the course. He's a great mentor with a lot great advice. Definitely take a class with this prof. He's been the best professor I've had thus far.
His lectures are interesting and you learn a lot; however, the midterm/exam is really really difficult. The class average was a C+ and there were a selected few with high averages. The exam questions are not surprising since he drops lots of hints if you go to his lectures, but the TA's that mark the exams are really tough.
Very interesting and clear lectures. He is a very good speaker. Read the book and go to his lectures and you will get a good mark!
He's an interesting prof. His lectures are interesting and you learn a lot. There's a lot of discussions and he's funny. He gives a lot of hints to what will be on the midterm and the exam.
The course itself is easy. The questions are straight forward and you only need the textbook. Easy A if you study the text well. The professor however, is arrogant, self absorbed and thinks too much of himself. Tries to scare students rather than explain exam procedures. Stupid expectations of detail for exams. Doesn't reply to emails.
Great professor, lots of enthusiasm. I would definitely advise taking the course with him since he's so active and knows a lot about the subject (due to his experience). You just have to make sure you go over his slides before class so you understand what he teaches!
He loves to encourage participation. However,he doesn't like to give full lectures and always talks about his own company without enough connection to the course material. Also none of my email is responded. The only useful experience I've got is to read business news. Won't recommend.
Great Professor! He gave us real life situation examples and connected it to course material. It made it so easy and interesting. I loved his class and I would highly recommend him.
Very easy course to get an A or above...don't need to go to his lectures but u must to listen the part where he explains how the midterm and finals gonna be other than that u study with textbook and don't need to go to his lectures in general!!
The Best Prof!!! He will tell you how to do well, follow what he said you can easily get A in this course.
He is a bit self absorbed but very helpful. Study the book inside outside out and you will get an A.
Very interesting.clear and concise but sometimes get carried away by his own story and has little or nothing to do with the material. he doesn't use the textbook that much.u still have to have it thou.for finals i suggest you study all the textbook material whether it was not covered and go a little beyond. some of the mid and final exam->unrelated
Wasn't terrible, wasn't warm and friendly either. Marks tests hard, the mid term is 40% and the final 60%, so no other assignments or projects to bring up your grade. Makes you write midterms on weekends.
Great prof who is clear on what you need to do to get a good grade. Lectures are based on textbook readings but he uses great examples and is an interesting speaker so I would recommend going to lectures. Exams are straightforward; if you study and know your stuff you will do well. The best prof I have had at York, by far!
Professor Modir is an amazing professor! He's lectures are very informational and he doesn't just lecture at you. He loves to get the class involved and always asks for participation from his students. I took ADMS 1000 and it was just a midterm (40%) and a final (60%). He's tests are all very straight forward, study from his slides and lectures.
A fine professor, explains the material perfectly and the lectures are actually entertaining but there is only 1 mid term and 1 final so you must read the textbook cover to cover and make notes if you want to pass. preparation is key so i suggest to all that you read the chapters and make notes on all "key terms" on the chapter before the lecture.
An incredibly inspirational person. One of the easiest courses at york. Read the book and lecture slides and its an easy A as i got one. Lectures are not boring. He talks about current affairs alot A must take course with him and an easy A
Amazing prof, by far my fav!
Great prof
Good prof but he goes off topic a lot. He's a great guy yeah but I'm here for the content so I had to cover most ideas myself
By far one of the BEST instructors at York! He's funny and engaging, his lectures are very entertaining! He uses easy to understand and connect to examples to help you learn the theory in order to be able to apply it. He tells you how to get an A in his class - define the theory and then apply it. Know the theories! I loved going to class!
Take this professor, and you'd enjoy going to university. He's business minded, like sports, teaches clearly, his lectures are the best! very engaging too!
He's a good professor. He teaches pretty well I studied only the sides and got a B+ in the midterm. Could've done way better if I had actually studied from the textbook, but then again his notes/slides basically cover up most of the stuff, especially because he adds on the notes in the slides, unlike my ADMS 1010 professor. Gave everyone a free +5.
Fine professor. Knowledgeable. Need to know theories and how to apply them (that's the ENTIRETY of this course). Didn't go to the majority of the classes, however, don't do this. Content was really useless (I retained info for exams then flushed away) he reads off slides, slides are posted on Moodle. 2 assignments ea 10%, midterm 35%, and final 45%
He's a really good teacher and incredibly understanding. Lectures aren't mandatory since everything is in the textbook but he connects lectures with real life examples to help understand the material. However, the tests are hard and you need to study a lot to get a good mark. Overall, a really good prof.
Horrible proof, these ratings are shocking! the material is straight forward however his grading is ridiculous. You can clearly show him you have full grasp of the material yet still will get a poor grade. I dont understand the ratings here because when the grades are released you can see everyones grade and his class average was 50-60%. Beware
Honestly, this was the only class I did not dread going to since it was pretty enjoyable. He explained everything very well and gave you real-life examples which really helped to retain the information. The assignments were marked a little hard in my opinion, but the assignments were that difficult. Great class overall with this prof.
I took this course thinking I can get a A+, however the stupid marking scheme ruins everything. You get no feedback for your exams so you dont know what you did wrong to miss out on an A+. Refuses to remark assignments. Decent lecturer, seems to be a successful business man. But the course is just trash, no one finished with an A+ in my section lol
Capitative lectures with a clear grading systeM. LIVELY CLASS.
This professor is amazing. He is precise and specific in his lectures, everything he lectures about is important to know. The mid terms are not difficult if you do the readings, case studies, multiple choice questions in the textbooks, and listen to his lectures.
At first when I entered Modir's class I thought this would seriously suck but I was way of the mark. His lectures are super helpful, concise, and clear. He had lots of real life examples while helps us understand the concepts a lot better. He also asks us every week to read the news and talk about it as it relates to the course.
He is unprofessional, during exams when he gets together with his colleagues he tends to get so immersed in the conversations he doesn't realize how much of a distraction he is. Course material is organized and easy to understand bravo on that. Needs to be less arrogant and condescending, as well as answer students questions with respect.
His lectures are entertaining, and most importantly, contain all the necessary information to pass this course. He motivates the students to do better, some may find his approach a little pushy but with it, he prepares us for the real tough world of business. I person, he is really nice, and everyone can ask him whatever question they want.
It not hard to get a great mark from the 8 assignments, but difficult to get a good from the midterm and final exam, especially for those who are not good at writing.
Professor Peter Modir, is one of the best professors at york university. His lectures are lengthy but they are very engaging and he gives many opportunities for one to get involved. If you pay attention, engage, and keep up with the assignments you should easily get an A. He goes over all the content found on exams through discussion based learning
About the least useful professor that I've ever come across.
Do what he asks, and the lecture is interesting
Great lectures with clear explanations yet mediocre slides. Wants us to do well in this class yet doesnt answer emails unless they can be answered with at most 7 words and are not about the course material. The professor didnt care much about maintaining the class page. Better than Keith, but take it with someone else if you have the chance.
He is a good prof tbh his classes are very engaging and his lectures are interesting. But his grading scheme sucks its very difficult to get marks in mid and final. If your mid doesnt go well or you get unexpected marks, drop becuase youre less likely to do good on final too
Honestly, if you do your readings you'll be fine. There isn't a lot of homework overall and the class itself isn't that difficult. He's very specific about what he wants to see and takes up assignments/midterm afterwards to let you know where you went wrong. Overall, he's a good teacher.
He's honestly a really good professor. His lectures are engaging and catch your attention. If you do the readings and the case studies, you'll be good.
I really liked his lectures, he talked about his real life experiences which connected to the topic we were talking about. I didn't really did the reading and just attended to the lectures every week. The mid term and final exams are both case studies. If you know how to write analyze essay youre good.
Modir is..okay. noting more, nothing less. his lectures are not very helpful- nor is he. Just learn how to do a case study and you'll be okay. The course itself is not bad, but if you email him a question just know he will ignore it and not answer :)
Proff Peter Modir was a decent professor. Took him for ADMS1000, course was straight forward and the lecture slides was all you needed to know/memorize to do well on the exams. Grading difficulty was very fair.
Take the prof Guriel's class if you can. she gives example cases. but prof peter won't. I guess prof Guriel's class would get a high score. prof peter talks so slowly like a meditation instructor. his phone alarm keeps ringing during class!! I would not take his class ever.
If I say so myself, I would consider Peter more as a friend than a professor. His lectures are somewhat clear but everything is just too slow. He overall is still very interesting and makes jokes in class. His phone keeps going off which is makes me question if he is secretly a celebrity.
Really good professor! The material is kind of dry but he tries to make it a little more interesting with jokes and by connecting material to some personal stories. He makes it clear what is expected with the case studies so grading is very fair. Know your stuff and you'll be fine. Overall, I enjoyed his class.
He tries to deliver the information in an easier format, so there is no difficulty to understand the material. On midterms and finals there are always things that he focuses on during the lectures. He is willing to answer any questions students ask, provides enough help and support.
Tried to rate him before but it was deleted. He is a bad professor, he is rude to students but begs for class participation. Grading seems to be random and he only says "it's subjective not mathematical". He thinks this is the most important class and he is the most important man. Ok dude you're teaching intro to business.
My favorite professor this semester. His lectures are engaging and informative, with slides that perfectly summarize the chapters, making one of the books unnecessary for studying. The only downside is the random multiple-choice questions on the exams, though the written sections are straightforward.
dont really need to buy the textbook, i managed an A without it. the material is kinda dry but he makes up for it. i honestly love how he teaches us like hes telling an ellaborative story - i always felt engaged. we had a disruptive student in our class who always asked questions - little annoying. but if you stick to the slides you will be good.
The professor tries to make the material engaging, though the lectures can be a bit slow at times. Focusing on the case studies and using resources like unstuck AI helped me do well in the course. Overall, a decent professor.
You could get a B+ just from paying attention to his lectures and slides alone. He's not like your average monotonous professor, when he speaks you can literally tell how intelligent he is. He also has a sense of humour that he incorporates into his lectures to maintain his students' interest. Definitely recommend him.
He is great
GOOD PROF. WOULD TAKE AGAIN
