human physiology - took it in the summer, rough to squeeze all that info into 5.5 weeks... it took a lot of self-teaching to get the "a" that i have now. i think with some focus he could be a better teacher. you will work hard to learn in this class, but it is possible
Peter's lectures: a bit disorganized, will jump fr topic to topic, may be unrelated, easily led astray by student ?s which are also off topic. Exams: level of questions not consistent w/ level of teaching; he wants to focus on concept not details, but then exam ?s require detailed knowledge to understand the concept; expectations are unclear.
He is flexible, enthusiastic, & knowledgeable. He's consistently late to class 10-20 minutes of class. Tests don't reflect students' true understanding of material fairly.Exam questions don't match level of teaching. Lectures apparently seem to lack any preparation. Sometimes information is unorganized when he doesn't have an outline/vocab list.
even though it was a hard time passing his class his understanding professor unlike many peralta professors! his willing to help the students and just expect to study the textbooks and lectures notes. u have to put in your efforts. overall i recommend him and i think his one of the nicest professor out there. he also will grade on a curve!
His tests do not reflect his teaching. He is always late and easily distracted. Lectures are disorganized and confusing.
Peter is a decent guy who is very intelligent. His lectures are hard to follow most of the time, they appear to have little preparation before class. he is usually late several minutes. he does not handle questions well often. The labs are not worth much and are not worthwhile, but you do them. The tests are unpredictable. Study in groups.
Peter's physio class was probably the hardest class I've ever taken...and I already have my B.A! But, he takes the time to explain things and is EXTREMELY fair. Very nice guy who genuinely seems to love the material he teaches. I wouldn't advise taking such a difficult course over summer though.
One of the best professors I ever had at the lower-division level. Extremely good at what he does and very detail oriented. You'll learn a lot in his class.
The information I learned in Physiology has been extremely helpful in graduate school. Although, Peter's tests were difficult, I liked the fact that he tested concepts. He taught at a graduate level and remebering the concepts has helped me greatly in my neuroscience, anatomy, and psychopathology courses.
Repeat comment. Entered in wrong class info. The info I learned in Physiology has been extremely helpful in graduate school. Although, Peter's tests were difficult, I liked the fact that he tested concepts. He taught at a graduate level and remebering the concepts has helped me greatly in my neuroscience, anatomy, and psychopathology courses.
Excellent Professor, wish there were more like him.
Peter is great (and very fair). He makes it clear he is there to help you learn and pass, SO UTILIZE him! Stay after class, ask a ton of questions! My only wish is chem should be a prereq so no time is wasted in the earlier half going over atoms. My class had to rush through the end of the course which is the best stuff!
Give him a brake! He comes a little late but he also takes care of patients in the hospital (one of them could be you). I had him for Summer and many people got A's and B's.That has alot to do with him and the fact that students took time to study. Physio is not an easy subject, so don't expect it to be a picnic. He is fair, and wants U to succeed
the hot comment is stupid, folks, and reduces your credibility. this teacher rocked OUT. Everything he taught us has been non-stop useful in my nursing classes, but he also instilled a life-long passion for physiology. One of the best classes and teacher I ever had. 100% clear, fair, but challenging. GREAT CLASS
This class was the most well taught and useful class I took prior to nursing school. He expected a lot from his students and taught with enthusiasm. The class is difficult but he is a very fair professor. He is approachable and genuinely wants his students to do well in class. I highly recommend taking this professor.
I enjoyed the class and would recommend this professor for Physiology anytime!
I would recommend taking this class if you are interested in physiology and like to learn it.
Dr. Niloufari made me kind of love this class -- it was a difficult class, and I would not say he was an 'easy' teacher, but I ended up really enjoying it and felt like I got a lot out of it. He has a lot of respect for the material, and for the students. If you want to do well, he will do everything possible to help you, even helping you study!
Dr. Nilofauri is an amazing teacher. He really understands his subject material (unfortunately not true for all teachers) and has a very entertaining way of relaying knowlege to students. His clinical background also gives his course relevance.
He is an extremely caring and attentive teacher. He is flexible and listens to feedback of students. He can improve with emails as well as punctuality at times. Also because he is a doctor, he can be hard to follow because doctors are generally not natural teachers. But you will learn a lot! You will have to earn your grade but he is VERY FAIR!
This guy is a great teacher. He always took time before & after class to answer every last question. Yes, it's a tough class. However, he genuinely wants you to not only succeed, but to learn the material, and he will do whatever he can to make that happen. I absolutely recommend this class, especially for anyone going on in the health sciences.
Professor Niloufari is a genuine professor who's hard to come by. He takes time to answer questions and clarifies thing that may not be clear. He's very patient, understanding, fair, and articulates the material nicely. I highly recommend his class to anyone who's interested in taking the physiology class or any other class he's teaching.
Excellent lectures!! Always interesting, engaging, amazingly organized. Tests are very detailed,a little tricky. were I not so concerned about my grade being as high as I'd like, I'd strongly recommend taking a class from Peter.
Peter was a great teacher. He is a medical doctor and knows his stuff. This gets in the way sometimes because he expects very much from his students. He's helpful and not strict. Strays from the subject quite a bit. Didnt cover digestion in physio. Overall great experience!
There are heros and there are SUPER HEROS and Mr. Niloufari is definitely the SUPER HERO. He not only helps you with the text materials but "genuinely" motivates and encourages all his students that you can do it. We know its "Regina" who wrote that negative comment, its very sad that people like her always blame their failure on others. Shame on U
Awesome teacher. I actually started the semester in the Majlesi section and he was not my style. I switched a couple weeks in and I am SO glad I did. I kept in touch with friends in Majlesi's section and they were confused and angry with him and jealous of me. Dr. Niloufari is the best teacher I have had in the Peralta system. Many others agree...
Professor Niloufari was really nice and I learned a lot from him.
peter is a nice teacher and very helpful. I think only one person had problem with him but not let that comment stop you taking his class. not only he is a nice teacher but he is a also nice person
I would recommend taking this class if you like to learn, have fun, and at the same time challenge your brain. I am glad I took this challenging class with Dr. Niloufari who helped me learn the material in an easy way.
I found Dr. Niloufari to be extremely fair, passionate, and understanding. If you really would like to learn, please take him. His lectures are very lengthy but, there is a method to his madness... he tests predominantly from his notes so, it is of benefit to you... If you would like a teacher to coddle you, this is not the professor for you. He wi
Dr. Niloufari is an exceptional professor. He is someone who likes to teach and pass on his knowledge to others. He is a great help to all of his students and likes everyone in class to succeed.
He is one of the best teachers I have ever had. There was an old lady in the class who didn't like him, but other than her, everybody absolutely loved him.
Brilliant! Changed my life for good!. I had no Science background, except from high school, but made sure I attended all his classes, studied his notes supplemented it with the text, and I was good. He is not easy professor, but fair by all standards. He knows his topic and he is definitely born to be teacher. I highly recommend him. Azmera Hai
He is amazing. He knows how to teach. He uses lot of metaphors to make you understand any new concepts.
An absolutely awesome professor! Dr.Niloufari knows how to teach and loves doing it. He is always ready and happy to answer any questions. He has great sense of humor(helps a lot and makes learning fun and enjoyable)and is very nice. I highly recommend Dr. Niloufari to anyone who wants to learn P well, although do not expect the subject to be easy.
I took Peter for the Fall 2009 Physiology. I can't rave about him enough. The class is not easy, but if you want to learn I recommend taking Peter. Attend class! Lectures are long, but he is organized and very entertaining. He loves teaching and it shows. I ended up with a B. He's very fair and grades on a curve. EXCEPTIONAL INSTRUCTOR!
If you can read a text book you can take Peter's class. All his lectures are straight out of the book almost word for word. Don't waste your time taking notes just bring your book to class and you'll see that he practically will read the whole book to you throughout the whole semester.
Moves extremely fast through the material. Goes beyond the detail of the book. Teaches a med school level course. Condescending. Makes you feel stupid sometimes for asking a question and tends to go off on students.
He is a very helpful, approachable best known physiology teacher to me I have taken physiology before, you need to study but his lecture is half work done best thing record it.Knows the subject very well and is ready to help with the subject matter, till you understand it, believe me.
Peter is pretty good at relating real life situations to what he teaches, which really makes it easier to learn the material. Plus he goes over everything in a clear manner that we can all understand
He is awesome: I was totally bored the first two weeks, then once we got past the background stuff, he was on fire. He is an awesome teachers and his lectures are fascinating and engaging- don't let the first few weeks fool you! Oh, and he is super hot and adorable, that sure doesn't hurt :-) He will answer all questions (sometimes annoying)
Really great professor. I am very sad that he doesn't teach anymore classes! Honestly the best prof I've ever had (and I already have my BA from a "good" college)
Apparently several people have confused "good looking" for "good at teaching". He essentially reads out of the textbook and throws in occasional real-life application. Not really necessary to attend class- if you read the book, you'll be fine.
This is a really hard class no matter who you take it with. Peter Niloufari makes going to class as fun as possible. Again this is a hard subject you have to study and stay on top of the material. He is also very helpful if you have ?'s.
Peter Niloufari was the BEST Physiology teacher I could have ever hoped for! His class was interesting and he was so great about helping my lab group with all of our questions.
Warning: He doesn't care if students cheat. 1) He returns exams to students then reuses them the following semester. 2) He only has one version of all tests (including final exam). People were copying from each other / texting and he didn't do anything at all except to say "it makes me very uncomfortable when people cheat". Wha...?!!
Very interesting and covered the subject in depth, not just the superficial details. You definitely had to study hard and pay attention, but one should for any good class.
Great Professor! He's enthusiastic, interesting, serious and helpful.
I'd say he's one great teacher who's very enthusiastic, very helpful and takes time to answer all questions. He's very organized and fair, very easy to talk to. The class is hard, but if you're willing to learn, he's willing to help. I strongly recommend him.
Peter is a GREAT teacher and is very knowledgable of the subject. I took this class over the summer and it does require a lot of time studying, but Peter makes it very interesting. He does give up to 10 extra credit pts for each test and 20 EC pts on the final. I highly recommend recording the lectures bc that's exactly whats on the test. I listen
I'm 30 and have been in school almost my whole life (unfortunately). Bar none, Peter is within the top 5 professors I've had in my life. Inspiring, ENGAGING, structured, thoughtful, knowledgeable, supportive. He turned my life around. Truly one of the best. It's a real shame the Peralta colleges don't care enough to have him teach more classes.
Peter is a great professor. Engaging and enthusiastic, he provides as many clinical examples as possible to help tie the concepts into their medical importance. He takes all questions and enjoys a challenge. Truly use your brain and study deeply and regularly, you can definitely get an A. Read the book, take notes, go to classes, ask questions.
He is a great teacher. His lectures are filled with a ton of material. PPs are clear (straight from book) and his tests are very difficult. To get a good grade in this class you will have to wrk for it. But he is a very good teacher and a nice guy.
I would make 2 suggestions..when pressed for time, leave the definitions alone, they are readily and easy to find in the book. it would help to do the fill in the blanks first. Second. I think you should do a cummulative final on the presentations in order to make students pay attention and come on presentation day. Thanks Peter!! I had a blast!
Topic is interesting, but somehow I would fall asleep in his class. It needs something, even though he is a very good teacher.
No doubt Dr. Peter is an awesome teacher. You get what you deserve and you get plenty of tries to boost your grade you just need work for it. Do the projects and your fine. Failed just about every test but did amazing on the 3 projects and got a B. Just got to try hard and read the book and be at the lectures. Fun class just got to be active in it.
Peter is one of the top five instructors I've had in my life and I have over 300 college credits. He was a great inspiration for my choice to do an MSN. He is a professor's professor and most could learn something from him. Professors in my MSN program don't have a fraction of his knowledge or instructive ability. He is truly missed!
This teacher is the best instructor I have had in years and years. He has given me the confidence that I can go on to Nursing and do well. He explains the background and gives you the foundation you need before understanding the concept. His PPs are awesome, they are easily understood and with lots of helpful info. Peter is easy to approach as well!
Nutrition class was highly unorganized. He did not have a good sense for time and we bit off more than we could chew so the whole class felt watered down and unfocused. I liked the class discussions but they didn't really help when he threw out a couple hard and unrelated quizes at us. sometimes his tone was condescending and snobby...
Right off the bat, it is clear Prof. Niloufari is very passionate about his job. He is very knowledgeable, helpful, and presents his lectures in a thorough manner. The lecture and lab exams are tough, but the good thing is if you survive them all, the final is just a review. In short, tough course, but excellent professor. Best at COA.
Mr. Niloufari is hands down the best professor I have ever had at the collegiate level. From the first moment of class it is clear that he is extremely passionate about teaching. You will walk away from his class a smarter person and will be extremely thankful for his wonderful instruction! I recommend him to anyone taking Physiology!
Peter is a very talented professor. I really enjoyed his class and I will say that he is the best teacher i have ever had!
Dr. Niloufari is an awesome professor, he is definitely the best professor I have ever had. He is extremely passionate, inspiring, energetic, knowledgeable, very supportive and understanding. I took his physiology class over the summer and it required a lot of studying, but he made the lectures very engaging and fascinating. He is not only an e
I took Physiology over the summer and I found Peter to be a dedicated, organized, clear and very accessible professor. The class was challenging and required a good amount of time and dedication, but Peter's enthusiasm and practical/real world applications of the material made learning interesting and memorable. Highly recommend his class!
I like Dr. Niloufari's class a lot because he is clear about assignments, lectures and quizzes/exams. If you don't understand something from the textbook, he is willing to explain in details until you finally get it. He's reasonable and grades fairly. I highly recommend his classes!
He's great. A very caring professor &explains well. I worked HARD in his class. It's not easy but he is very fair &I hope to take a class with him in the future. Sometimes his tests are harder than he thinks. He gives study guides but study just a little bit more than he says and you'll do fine. Anxiously awaiting my grade right now though...
He curves the grades in the end. Quiz every week and 5 exams/final. I had to use a recorder to catch information from the lecture that was not on power point slide or book. These "little" informations usually ends up on the quiz/exams. Truly passionate about the subject and teaches it wonderfully.
Peter is a great and helpful teacher. He exudes a passion for science and it is seen in his teaching. The class is HARD. 5 midterms ,2 lab exams and final is cumulative. Overall, a hard class that you need to study for A LOT!!!
most disorganized teacher i've ever had, probably one of the worst. he blamed his incompetency on the number of people there were in class when in fact it was all his fault. he jumped around from one topic to another then back to the first topic and he went over the class time maybe 95% of the time which made people lose focus and interest in class
i was in the same class as the previous reviewer. there was a computer glitch that allowed too many people to enroll. no fault of peter's. in fact, he was very accommodating to all of us. this class is helping me, big time, in subsequent classes. he's passionate about his subject and super helpful. it wasn't easy, but you get out what you put in.
Professor Niloufari was an excellent professor. I learned a lot from him, and he made Physiology, a difficult course, enjoyable. He took the time to answer student questions, and did his best to make the concepts clear. He had a personalized approach to teaching, even with a class of forty. I highly recommend him.
Peter was great professor! The class is not easy and you need to put many hours and effort. He is very approachable and eagar to help. I have had BS degree but Peter is one of the best professor I had. Highly recommende.
Lowest drop-out rate (voluntary) for a science major summer session, especially in a community college. Enthusiastic about teaching, keeps students focused and interested. Well explained concepts and ideas about the subject, and professional knowledge complemented with clinical/RL examples. Drawback being not rich enough to provide scantrons.
one of the most enthusiastic professors i've ever had. His teaching style is very active, so he isn't just reading off powerpoint slides. This wasn't an easy class, but then again it was during the summer session. He uses every ounce of his energy to help his students succeed, so don't be afraid to approach him. Loved his class, highly recommended!
Dr. Niloufari not only was an excellent professor, but also a wonderful person. He explained concepts clearly, and if you were still confused he would take the time to further clarify the topic. Summer session was intense, and Peter realized that so he gave study guides and would even stay after class. Amazing professor with a great smile :o)
great teacher for physiology. you would need to study for this class. the summer class was very fast and time consuming but the fall or spring class would most likely be slower and have more time to study
Mr. Peter is a wonderful and insightful instructor. Although his summer session physiology course is fast-paced and jam packed w/info, he sacrifices much of his time after class to make sure that students understand the material. A great teacher that makes a demanding course less demanding!
Peter is amazing. The best teachers I've ever had. His knowledge of physiology is exceptional but more importantly he is able to explain difficult material in a multitude of ways to make it easier to comprehend. He's both clear and passionate and keeps you interested throughout lecture. Teaching is his passion, and it shows in his commitment to us.
If you like consistency and clear expectations Peter is not for you. Disorganized, poor time management. Covers something for 20 mins, then asks nothing about it on exam. Barely mentions something else, asks 2 questions about it. Lab practicals cover experiments that were never done due to lack of time. Waits until day before exam to email guides
I disagree. Peter is a top of the line professor. I wish he taught every science course, I would choose him hands down. Its true, time did not allow us to cover each lab but he explained what would be on the test and most imp. what would not! He answers each question no matter the topic and provides excellent analogies to clarify concepts.
Loves to teach and help people succeed!Helps develop good study habits and test taking strategies.Teaching style is very dynamic and he explains the material well with helpful diagrams. Many people complained about frequent quizzes but they helped prepare for exams. Very busy so remind him to email study guides. Study hard & frequently for class.
When I first starte this class, I was sure I was going to go into Radioloy Technician program. This class totally changed my life. I am now applying to medical school. Peter is by far one of the best, most honest instrutors I have ever had. His passion for physiology and medicine is very contagious and he just makes you love this very hard course.
Peter is a phenomenal teacher who clearly loves what he does. His enthusiasm for the subject makes class enjoyable. He genuinely cares about the success of his students and is very generous with his time. We are lucky to have him in the East Bay and I am grateful that I got to take his course. I took his summer Physio course at College of Alam.
I thank God that I wound up registering for Dr. Niloufari's summer class rather than the class offered closer to my home. He is knowledgeable, well-articulated, kind, patient, and it's apparent he has great talent for teaching. I would 100% recommend Dr. Niloufari to any student willing to put in the time and effort required for this class.
Dr. Niloufari was amazing. Took his class Fall 2011. I'm in nursing school now and am far better prepared than many other students because of his class. So glad I took him! I remember concepts from that far back and very well. His teaching style was great, and I recommend him to any and all who need physio or any other class!
Teaches UCBExt Physio class differently b/c we are “highly educated intellectuals.” Not for working professionals. Sent final exam study guide day of exam. Tests on material not covered. XC questions not in book/lecture. Makes mistakes and won't admit them. Never wrong even when clearly wrong. Makes promises and then breaks them. Dynamic lecturer.
Definitely one of the best classes I've taken. Great lecturer, extremely interesting topics covered. He's very knowledgeable and has a passion to teach effectively. Take his course and you'll learn a lot!!! Class is not easy, you'll have to go to all of the lectures and read your book to fully understand the material.
Very hard, doesn't make clear whats on the exams. Gives a study guide but it's pretty horrible. Uses hard specific test bank questions. He is very knowledgeable of the material, an OK lecturer but awful at student assessment.
His Physiology course last summer was INTENSE, educational and enjoyable. Passionate about physio, friendly as heck. Will go out of his way to explain, clarify, assist. I hadn't taken science for a while, but I've now gotten into several Masters nursing programs. This is the bread and butter of healthcare. Take it seriously - take it with Peter!
this course is HARD unless you have a background in the health field. But I learned so much. By the end you'll know the topics inside & out. Very helpful & really cared about his students & their success. Study from your notes, know all aspects of the study guides & get more information from those topics from the text & you'll do well.
I had a love/hate relationship with this class. I loved the course and Peter N. is a fantastic professor, however I made the mistake of taking this course during the summer. Please take his advice and avoid enrolling in Bio 4 as a summer course unless you did well in anatomy and have AT LEAST 30 hours a week to study. You WILL work for your grade!
I took Dr. Niloufari's class during Fall. He gives good lectures; however, sometimes his pace can be fast. I found recording his lectures was extremely helpful. This class is no cakewalk but getting an A is possible, but it will take lots of hard work. English is my second language, and I never had previous experience. If i can do it so can you.
I graduated with an engineering degree and I needed this class for PA school. Peter wasn't the best professor I've ever had but decent. I was spoiled by UC professors. Studied the night before or several hours before a exam and got 100%. Go to class, write things down even if you're not paying attention. Don't waste time or money reading the book.
The lecture is very enjoyable and easy to follow and he's a pleasant guy, but the exams are INSANELY HARD. He forgets that we can't remember and synthesize 9-12 hours of lecture material for each exam, and doesn't do a good job highlighting what is most important. Please - less cell biology and more practicality for medical professionals.
You need to go to class and take notes. Don't read the book unless its for extra credit on exams. Be prepared to do a lot of outside studying. Organization of lecture is confusing and a lot of concepts rushed. Final exam was difficult to study for. Not easy. Wish that organization was more clear and study guides were more representative of exams.
Peter was a very thorough and fantastic lecturer. He makes students feel very comfortable to ask him questions and to clarify confusing topics. He takes the time to explain topics as best he can until you understand. He also tries to keep class interesting by sharing some personal anecdotes and puns. Definitely enjoyed his teaching.
I think he is one of the best professors that I've ever had since college. He is so passionate about teaching and learning itself that I benefited greatly from taking his class and listening to your advice on learning. I am currently studying to take the new MCAT in Sept and I use his recorded lectures as a supplement:)
He WILL prepare you for any nursing schoolhealth care profession. He is a passionate teacher and wants you to learn the best to be the best. I've taken science classes at a UC level and I can say that I learned so much more. He teaches you proper techniques in lab that are essential for the health profession. Labs are fun! Record lectures!
For those that truly want to embark in the medical field Dr Niloufari's class is not only interesting, but also practical. Dr Niloufari way of relating physiology with currently issues about diseases as well as provide for us his own insight and expertise on the subject is truly useful and information that is incredibly helpful. Be ready to work!
Dr. Niloufari truly wants you to succeed. I took his class over the summer and he did not water anything down. Though this made the class extremely tough, it prepared me well for pharmacy school - he even went into more detail than some of the lectures in pharmacy school. If you are a pre-health student, he is a MUST-HAVE professor!
This class is hard ! Cumulative final which was extremely difficult. I can't remember every detail he provides through lecture . It was difficult to listen to his recording and compare it to his PowerPoint because he tend to go off track.
Peter's class is for those serious about health care. Do not take this class for a GE. Attrition throughout the semester was 50%. His lectures are dynamic and full of clinical references. It is best to record lectures for reference. Exams demand application of concepts, not rote memorization. BIO4 asks for 6-8 hours additional study time/week.
Took BIOL4 with Peter this semester and it was the BEST choice of my life. If you take his class, it is VERY beneficial to record his lectures (w/che allows) and ask clarification early on before you take his tests. THIS IS NOT AN EASY A CLASS you must put in the effort to understand the material, Peter will acknowledge if you're having difficulty
Peter is probably one of the hardest teachers I have ever had(and I already have a degree). His test are exceptionally detailed and VERY conceptual. YOU MUST LEARN THE MATERIAL INSIDE AND OUT NO EXCEPTIONS! However I will say that I learned so much from him and I would totally take him again. He is always available to help!
I took Physiology with Peter in Winter '15. It is one of the hardest courses I have ever taken, but by far one of the best as well. He is extremely knowledgable and informative. You will have to work extra hard to get a good grade, Thanks to Peter I now have a strong foundation in Physiology that I will carry with me for the rest of my career.
He's a nice professor, but I feel as if he makes his exam questions to hard for the beginning or entry level into physiology; to where his teaching doesn't even match the level/details of his questions. Teachers just need to stop teaching so many classes in a semester; you can tell their more stress and mind boggled, which effects our lectures.
Peter is the greatest! He genuinely cares about his students really learning understanding the material. You definitely have to study and work out side of class, but it is doable. Also, recording his lectures definitely helped me out a whole lot.
I really enjoyed Peters class. He did a really good job of thoroughly going through all the material in such a condensed semester. I learned a tremendous amount and would highly recommend taking his class. His course is not an easy A b/c it requires that students actually understand the material to do well on tests, which is doable but takes time.
Peter makes difficult concepts very clear and is very helpful when asked questions. Was a super hard class and required daily studying but was really interesting. Bought the textbook but didn't use it at all. Solely lecture based so I recommend recording lectures
This class wasn't easy. Needed to put a lot of time and hardwork to be successful in this course. Peter is such a great professor! I recommend taking his class. He makes the hard concepts easier to understand. Also, he gives a lot of clinical examples which is really interesting.
By far the best teacher I've had, especially for a summer physio class. He loves to teach, even though he could have been a pretty good doctor. He has very good handwriting, so you couldn't tell he is an MD. His lectures are so good that you do not even need to buy the book. He is repetitive in a way that doesn't feel repetitive. I learned a lot.
He is an excellent teacher. He knows the material well and is very passionate about his work. He is respectful of the students time and rarely keeps students for the whole lab time. The class was interesting and well organized. He gives practice quizzes to help absorb the material.
Awesome instructor! Very clear guidelines of what is expected, very succinct in lectures and offers good life and health-career related advice. Dr. Niloufari gives "pop quizzes" to consolidate understanding of different concepts learned in class the previous day and is overall a thoughtful, bright and helpful instructor!
Lectures are the most important, so attendance is required. Be ready to take lots of notes, they are key to the tests. PowerPoint slides are more useful than the book. Peter is very open to questions & really wants his students to succeed. I can only hope to encounter another professor as professional, thorough, & excited about a subject as Peter.
He has a great teaching style that breaks down the most complex topics in the most simplest way. His tests are very hard, so you must invest time in actually studying the material daily. If you need help, he is very approachable and willing to explain what you don't understand. He really wants his students to do well in the class.
If you have the chance to take this class with him, do it. It's lecture heavy but he does everything he can to prepare you for each exam. He uses a lot of clinical examples that make it easy to apply the material to every day life. Physio is a tough subject, but he made it so fun. Not an easy A but this class was very rewarding.
An awesome instructor, one of the best I've had as a college student! Course material is challenging, but if you focus (and really LISTEN) to lectures and study diligently, you can do great. Text is more supplementary, for extra credit. Prof really cares for his students and wants them to succeed, and is open to questions and discussions.
Peter is fantastic. Thought the subject is vast, Peter hones it into lectures that focus on essential concepts. The class moves at a fast pace and it is essential to attend lecture. His tests are difficult but fair. Go to class, take notes, ask questions. Peter loves the material and wants students to succeed. Easily the best teacher at Peralta.
Prioritize the online lecture videos/notes provided, supplement with the textbook. Grading and responses were often delayed. I was docked 8 points on a case study without a clear explanation as to why. Final exam was supposedly only MC and T/F questions, turns out the last several questions were short answer.
Prof. Niloufari was an amazing professor. The lectures were long and had over 100 slides but you don't have to go through every single one. Take good notes because that'll help you a lot in the class. Do the practice quizzes and study the slides in the order you take notes and that'll help make the material make more sense. Pay attention closely.
Peter was an amazing instructor. He is extremely thorough but has the best lectures and answers class questions all the time. He uses power points and does a lot of work on the board (pictures and tables of info for clarity). Study everything he says in class, record lectures if needed. Exams are the lectures. Labs-just participate, fill out manual
Amazing teacher. Peter is very passionate about the subject, and has a great understanding of everything he covers. Peter also throws in a ton of clinical/ applicable examples when teaching, which are both useful and allows one to retain the information. Class grade is solely based on exams. His exams are challenging, but not impossible. Just study
Peter is a really great professor, very animated when giving lectures. It makes understand the material much easier. I recommend recording all his lectures, most of his material comes from there. Tests are difficult but if you show up for class and study you'll pass.
Did not regret taking his class one bit! One of most impactful professors I've had. Tough class, but his way of teaching/explaining complex concepts will make things so much easier to understand. Put in the time to study, listen to his lectures you'll do well. I'm now in nursing school & still refer to his lectures for my pathophys/pharm class.
I actually wish he teaches all my nursing classes & be my MD because he is just that amazing! He really cares for his students and makes lectures super interesting and easy to follow. I learned sooo much. Take notes of everything he writes on the board. Record his lectures. SET ASIDE A LOT OF TIME TO STUDY b/c his exams are challenging but doable.
Physiology is a hard class, but Peter's was awful. He's a great lecturer and person, but his tests are so far off from what he stresses we need to remember and there were even things on it we never learned . (1/2 my class had to drop, remaining mostly have borderline D grades). His presentations are a mess, I'd say more if I could. Don't take him.
Peter is a great lecturer and wants to make sure his students pass by providing practice test questions, study guides, or reexplaining hard to grasp concepts. His exams are lecture heavy with questions that make you think. Write down everything he says or writes on the board because it will probably be on the test.
Definitely the best professor I've ever taken. Peter is kind, understanding, funny and a great person overall. He makes sure everyone understands the material, and is always willing to explain concepts in a different way to help you understand. Not an easy A, but take good notes bc test is pretty much all lecture material.
Peter was one, if not the, best professor I've had in my college career and I went to a 4-year university (taking prereqs now for grad school.) He really cares that you understand the material because he loves physiology. He understands that people have different learning styles and adapts accordingly too. Was a tough class but I highly recommend.
Peter takes time to make sure that you understand. He is available and enjoys interacting with his students. I am impressed with the quality of attention that he gives to each student, his scientific and Medical competence, and the delivery of his lectures. Complicated concepts become simple when he couples them with everyday life examples.
I was recommended by my friends to Peter's class. This class IS hard, make no mistake. But if you record the lectures, pay attention and put in the work, you can pass AND learn useful knowledge for work. Peter not only makes the material learnable and interesting, but cares and wants students to do well. Always ask him q's! TL;DR - Peter is the
Amazing professor! Took his Physio class in Spring 2017 at CoA and still love to look at my notes! Love learning anything about physiology and often read about studies in NIH after taking his class. Would take from any lecture by him again. Starting at UCSF this summer for NP program and grateful for Niloufari!
An amazing, Excellent, punctual, oriented of everything. I am lucky to for taking human physiology class with him.
Peter's great. I took his Physiology knowing it was going to be difficult instead of taking the easier professor. He's passionate about the subject and his lectures are really great and never boring! I will say his exams had some surprises in terms of material covered but I attribute that to covid and having to go virtual. LOTS of studying!
His exams are hard, but if you put in the effort then you'll be fine. Just make sure to watch the lecture video and take notes! Don't just have it playing in the background. I didn't really participate that much, but make sure to ask questions! He honestly wants the best for everyone! He has practice quizzes that helped me understand things better!
Peter is amazing. I took this class last semester and yet his class was so interesting that I think about concepts from it every day. Ngl, it was challenging. I wish I took it without two other pre-recs. There's so much information that I ended up writing a study guide over 100 pages long for the final and still barely made it above a C.
Dr. Niloufari is an excellent teacher and I really feel that I have learned so much from taking his physiology course. However, He is very hard to get a hold of and he is absented minded. You will need to remind him to post stuff on canvas because in the past lectures and exams have not been posted on time.
Honestly as a lecturer he is great, really answer's students questions and goes into detail. Exams are way harder than the UC Berkeley course I had to drop, as they go into detail about things not talked about in class/not in the text book. He is also a bit slow on grading exams, having them graded way later than promised.
His teaching style really good the lectures really amazing, I really love the way he explained the questions really detail. If some one really want to understand this class then you have to take him. His exam really hard and a lot of questions. The timing that he gave you can belly finish it on time. Really slow grading, never answered the email.
Peter Niloufari is an amazing professor! If you want to know how the body works physiologically in a molecular level and you're going to either pharmacy school, medical school or even nursing school this is the guy that can get you to understand how the body works! He is great lecturer. He made sure students understand the topic. He suggest everybody ask question and he is very cooperative to answer everything that you need to know. I love the way he teach, clear and concise. I can take subjects from him again. If you want to understand about Human Physiology. He is your guy.
Dr. Niloufari is excellent, caring and supportive. Show interest and willingness to learn and he will help, just ask. Lectures are very important, book is supplemental. Too many blank stares result in mini reviews of the material, different approach very helpful. Physiology is very difficult but Peter made it fun, enjoyable and relatable (Fall'23).
Dr. Niloufari is a passionate lecturer who makes physiology engaging. Lectures are a must, but the textbook is optional. Exams can be tricky, so stay on top of the material and use resources like Unstuck AI for effective study prep.
Dr. Niloufari is very knowledgeable and passionate for what he does. However I had a hard time following his lectures as he moves really fast and feels like you're always trying to catch up with what he's saying. The class felt disorganized and the syllabus calendar was not followed. He never posted grades at all. Grade mostly depended on exams.
circling back eight years later to leave my first rating: I had two dozen profs at Berkeley Extension but Peter Niloufari is the one I'll never forget. He is an outstanding teacher. We had a textbook but I don't remember needing it---if you learn his lectures you'll do great. It wasn't the easiest class but it was fair & exciting & fully worthwhile
