Very bad lecturer. He looks up at the sky when he talks, and repeats himself too much-to the point of stupidity. He doesn't explain things, he just says "so on and so forth.". He asks if any one has questions but doesnt can't answer them. He's
Not clear at all. Doesn't really explain anything and doesn't answer questions. Stares at the ceiling when he talks. I don't recommend him.
He stares at the ceiling but he is there for you for extra help. You just got to do the work and read your notes after each class and you will get an A in his class.
He is very vague and unclear. His class didn't teach me much and i found myself getting frustrated with the notes i had. His test are scattered and sometimes confusing. Weird teacher. All the other ratings are pretty precise

He's a nice man. He definately looks at the ceiling while talking and does add "and so on and so forth" alot in his lecture, but he writes everything on the board, is very thorough in the notes and moves at a nice pace, not too fast. This class is all about memorization. Take good notes, that's key
For biology majors, Dr. Osei is one of the best ccsu has to offer. His descriptions of basic anatomy n physiology will provide a good foundation for upper level bios. No spoonfeeding and will make u think. Take quality notes n ample time studyin n u will be rewarded. Oseis the man.
Very vague and unclear...looks at the ceiling ALL THE TIME! Tests are impossible and never follow the notes...difficult class, if you can take it with someone else!
an awesome professor
The instructor is one of the best on campus. He explains materila very well using good everyday examples. Osei is the man!!
The best class I have taken at CCSU. The professor is so smart he does not look at any notes. Take this class!! You will learn so much! The tests are challenging, but his notes are so organized. Keep it up, Dr. Osei
His tests and class notes went hand and hand there was no deviation from what was taught in class, so if you attend class you will get a good grade!
Yeah, he looks at the ceiling... but he is a great teacher. And very helpful if you have questions. He knows this subject so well that he has every lecture in his head in clear and concise order. He even writes all the important stuff on the board so you have time to copy it down. Just read your notes and you'll do well.

Nice guy, but his teaching style is very difficult.
This is my first professor rating and I had to do it for the sake of others. Professor Osei did a horrible job in my case. He dances around questions, reads verbatim what his slides say in class, and doesn't make anything interesting. Bring a pillow if you actually go to class. Last but not least, he is subjective, if he dislikes you you're screwed
Osei is clear on content. The class is hurried by the students. When you are finish with experiment you can go. Take homes reports, due every other week, are tedious and he WILL take points off for the SMALLEST mistake!
genius. but he doesn't act like it. IF YOU STUDY you will learn a lot in this class. IF BIO IS YOUR MAJOR you will walk away with a world of knowledge and a better understand. LET ME POINT OUT everyone that has badmouthed osei does it only becuase i guarantee they didnt STUDY which is a must for this class.
he appears to be a smart man but i disapporve of his teaching style he just puts note slide at a time on the projector and reads off them theres no need to go to class and be prepared to study a whole very general list of things just to be tested on a handful of them hes one of the worst teachers ive had in quite a while i wish he knew how to teach
This is my first time rating a professor but I had to do this so I can give others a heads up.Osei is definetly not a good professor at all, the worst ever that I had to take in my life.He is so strict, serious, doesn't like his job so he brings it up on us, yells at us,no eye contact, doesn't want anyone to get even a B.slides guy.Tests very hard!!
Try not to take his classes. He didn't help you, all he says "go and read the syllabus". Makes the exam hard as possible and some questions there is no answer (means the answer to that question is "none"). Didn't give enough time for the exams. The teacher has eye contact with ceiling not with the students and ask questions that he didnot even know
While he'll drop your lowest test grade if you show up to every class, you will probably still only get a 50 average because his tests are so damn hard. Don't trust only the Powerpoint slides (or your own notes, for the matter) to study. Most of it is useless questions asking to explain a process in excruciating detail.
Useless professor who lectures for 5 minutes and expects graduate school work. Do not take, waste of time, you do not learn anything.
this guy has problems but he means well, i guess. if you're a bio major, he won't bother you. you have to study for this class; there is so much info. lectures are basically a repeat of his slides...so there's no point in paying attention. but go to every class to get a test grade dropped. you will learn so much in this class. don't miss out!
good teacher, easy tests. he's fine with you rushing through labs and getting out early.
little hard to understand sometimes...funny at times. just rewrite the power points and you'll get an a. labs are rediculously easy
tests on intricate details, they are in the bio notes, but just not something a normal person would study. plays favorites, will test the lowest test grade if you show up to every class tests are based entirely on his powerpoint slides, which you have access to. He is hard to understand, is is very rude. He doesn't have good social abilities.
Horrible professor and advisor. Gives random advice that are useless and sometimes false. stares up at the cieling during lectures and does not offer help to boost your grade. When approached he gives responses like we went over this or belittling comments. I would not reccommend him to anyone ever
I had prof. Osei for Bio 2. He has a really strong accent, but with time you get used to it. His tests are difficult but if you study you should be ok. Go to every class becuase he will drop your lowest test grade. He is kind of awkward but still he is a decent teacher. He is really intellegent and sometimes doesnt understand that people are not o
i had him for bio lab. EASIEST lab in my life. u cant understand a word he says bc of his accent. laugh is very creepy and weird. no social skills. but his labs are self explanatory and SO EASY! easy grader. hardly pays attention to students in labs, but this is a good thing! i wld def reccomend him for BIO LAB. not lecture.
This man has no business teaching it's one thing to be knowlegeable it's another thing to teach he has zero people, and social skills if you can find another person to teach you this course or take it elsewhere
only take the lab with him if u have to, lets you out extreeemly early but his lecture r torture, just reads off powerpoint, stars at the ceiling and has a very creepy laugh at things that arn't even funny. also likes to embarrass ppl for asking questions. he thinks hes a know it all.
Does this guy even speak English? Seriously!?!? Avoid if possible! This is why tenure should be abolished!
Horrible!!! Rude and weird!!! If u can take any class with someone else PLEASE do so. Lecture class 3 test and a final. Lab 2 lab report 10pgs min. 7 quizzes and 2 other assignments. I do not recommend him at all.
Awful. Tests are impossible unless you have previous knowledge, and in his lab he assigns significantly more work than other labs at that level. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
He can barely speak English and yells at any student that asks a question, especially if you don?t raise your hand. His exams are so hard. The answers are usually about little details that he briefly goes over. He spends more time talking to the ceiling and the white board than to his students. AVOID taking his class. It's not worth it.
Tests are impossible, don't even bother to study. Has favorites and hard to understand. Don't take him, unless you want to be buried in work
After reading comments here I was fearful to take his class. I am pleasantly surprised. He is really helpful and I enjoyed his class so much. I am a Comm major, do not like Bio but he made it interesting. I went for extra help and did well on his tests. I would take him again if I had to. :)
So I thought this class would be very interesting because it's about food. It is not! He manages to make food sound boring. Dr. Osei is horrible. His notes are not helpful at all- just one worded on the board. He is very hard to understand and is aloof and rude. I barely passed the class when I actually studied. He seems like he is out to get you.
Sort of helpful but can be rude. Very boring.
Dr. Osei was a wonderful professor. I enjoyed learning more about biology from him. When he understood that I wanted to work in medicine, he spent more time explaining things that had to do with my area of interest. I appreciated taking this course from him and walked away learning a lot!
he reads off the powerpoints and when he has something else to day he writes it on the board.. his hand writing is hardly ledgible, and his accent is very thick. also even if you study the tests are very difficult. i wouldnt take another class with him.
Easy A. He teaches like a high school professor by writing everything on the board. His accent is think, but you can understand him. He doesn't require textbook and gives a study guide before every exam that ends up being the same as the exam! Really easy course I recommend taking it with him
Not helpful and very impatient. I took him for lab and my lab group did not get a long at all. Instructions were not clear and once when we asked for help, he became inpatient and snatched our handout from my partner. Do not bother and take it with another lab instructor.
This was the BIO lab. I took this course for fun and actually enjoyed the small experiments we did. However, Osei is very rude at times and will yell to you about reading instructions and make you look stupid. Easy A if you put the time in.
Worst professor. Grades different and is very rude. Boring class but has a fun lab.
At first I disliked him but than I realized the class was not even that hard. In my opinion is a great professor. writes EVERYTHING you need to know on the board, gives power point notes, and gives a study guide for an exam which is very similar to the exam.
Asked for help and he laughed and said to read the notes. Asked for extra credit there is none. No study guides. No review. 90% of people dropped the class. I thought this would be fun and easy now I have to take a summer course to graduate. His 100 classes are easy but not any higher level
Horrible professor; my only bad professor this semester. Such a boring class, the only reason students show up is because if you have 100% attendance, he drops your lowest test grade.
Super weird guy. His English is a little rough and he spends more time teaching to the ceiling than the class. However, if you show up to class he is a good teacher, the powerpoints are clear and he does extra work on the board to help teach. His exams are easy if you study for them. His social skills are off but his class is not crazy hard.
he is the worst teacher that I have ever taken at ccsu because he doesn't help his student and take time to talk to himself instead of the student. he is a tough grader and don't care if you pass or not. this is my second time taking him. don't waste your time taking him if you a passing grade. AVOID HIM ASAP
I loved this class. It was an easy A. He gives atleast 20 points of extra credit at the end of every exam. All of the information is in the slides and the exams are directly from that information. He may be a tad socially awkward but he is really a sweet guy! My favorite class this semester!
This was a great class. I was never good at BIO in high school but Dr. Osei made it easy to understand. This is a class you can't skip, textbook was never used, exams were just based of power points and what was written on the board during class. There were also bonus questions on the exams. This was a great class to take overall.
I'm currently taking his Intro to Nutrition class and it was a big mistake. Class and lectures are very boring. The 4 quizzes are the only grades we get and are very hard. I got a 58 on the 1st and a 65 of the 2nd (Which I studied probably 4 hours for). His accent is pretty bad and you can't understand many words. Not a bad guy but terrible teacher
Easiest class I have ever taken. You don't need to buy a book, you just go to class, do the lab and leave as soon as your group is finished. Every other week you must do a lab report on the lab you did during class. Take him! It's an easy A! The class is supposed to be about 2 hours long but the latest I've ever left class was 30 minutes.
The four exams, which include the final, are all based on powerpoints and lectures. Posts review questions for exams. Take notes and the tests are not difficult. Dr. Osei is pretty quiet and stares at the ceiling when he talks but is easy to understand. Helpful if you go to office hours or stay after class. Attend all classes & lowest exam drops
Powerpoint lectures every class, however he adds content to the material by teaching on the whiteboard, that's why its important to go to class. The material on the slideshow and the material on the whiteboard is on his tests. There are 3 tests and a noncumulative final, provides a study guide prior to each test. I studied directly from notes&pass
I failed this class and it sucks because his accent is really thick. No homework. He uses power point. Test are really heavy and hard. Me and my friends both failed his class
The class is super easy you just show up and do the labs and lab reports once a week. Overall hes a pretty dry and bland guy, dont get caught using your phone.
Osei has a very tough accent to follow but you can understand him most of the time. Lectures are extremely boring, if your phone is out he will ask for your name and deduct 5 points off your next exam grade. Study guides match exams perfectly. He has some jokes, smiles to himself a lot!!! Looks up to the ceiling a lot as well.
Took him for the BIO lab and its generally an easy class. Its supposed to be 2hrs long but most I've stayed in lab was 1hr. You finish when your group finishes. He is a very harsh grader probably the harshest in the BIO dept and don't get caught on your cellphone or its ten points off the next lab and late lab reports are 10 points off.
If you attend all the classes and take notes, you'll be fine and pass the exams. He hates when you ask questions and hates when you use phones. Will call you out and take your name down. Says he will drop you lowest test scores but has a lot of rules to follow to get him to do that.
Super easy! Every lecture powerpoint is on Blackboard and he gives a very helpful study guide for each exam. I got literally over 100% for my final grade. Cons: He has an accent (not too bad tho), makes no eye contact, is strict about phones, and only bases your grade on the 4 exams. Literally just pay attention in class.
If you pay attention, take notes and go to every lecture you will pass this class. The tests have very detailed study guides and are based off of his lectures no book required! He is a great professor! I will be taking classes he teaches again!
most difficult bio class i have taken. If you are not as his lectures, it is almost impossible to pass w/ an A. Every question on the test, he either writes on the board or says in class, but you cannot rely on the ppt alone. On most exams, he gives over 10+ pt extra credit -people still fail. Write everything down, and dont bother asking questions
Lectures are very dull and slides are sometimes unclear. He has a habit of putting his leg up on a chair next to students (which is very uncomfortable) when lecturing. 4 exams w/ bonus questions and a term paper (8pgs for undergrads, 16 pgs for grad). His course is manageable.. just show up to class and try your best to pay attention. Tough grader
You will pass if you go to class and take accurate notes. I wrote everything I could down and filled out his online study guides and got over 100's on every test. Thick accent that you'll have to get used to, and when answering questions he is brief and may not answer fully. Don't take this class if you don't plan on going.
Class is all lecture but he gives you the powerpoint so you can work at your own pace. A great choice3 if you are not a bio major and just need to take classes for credit. DO THE STUDY GUIDES bc they are very similar to exams.
The class was based on 4 exams. Doesn't give your exams back, you will know ur grade via blackboard. Gives you an 11-page study guide 4 days before your exam. Do not have your phone in sight. He's very mean when you ask questions, as students should. He just doesn't know how to talk to his students when they need help-he just laughs in your face.
Okay I don't know why people rated him bad for his lab class. I took him for Bio 113 and it was an easy A! He gives you a guideline on how he wants the lab reports. We literally did labs that I remember doing in high school. As long as you follow his guidelines (WHICH ARE SO EASY) then you will get an A. Spent 30 mins doing lab and left. TAKE HIM!!
For someone who doesn't like bio in general, this class was an easy A. I don't know what he is like as a lecture teacher but one should deff take his lab! We didn't stick around for the whole class and you are free to go once your group is done. Prof is very straightforward with what he wants and as long as you do that, you will pass!
DO NOT TAKE CLASSES WITH THIS TEACHER! save yourselves, i am taking 400 level courses but this 111 somehow is the toughest. The professor just reads word for word off the power point and also uses this horrible phone app called tophat so he doesn't have to talk. He literally stairs up at the lights while he talks, again might be the worst professor
Hes a good professor, had him for regular bio and a lab - the lab is very easy and if you pay attention to the study guide youll do fine on the tests - gives chances for extra credit on the test too, I got a 107 on the first one.
Lectures arent bad. He reads from the slides because the exams are just based on the slides and some side info he writes on the board. Attendance is only for participation points. He posts all slides on blackboard. His study guides are literally just exam questions. Easy interesting class.
Super hard to understand and almost impossible to keep up with in class. Once we went online he only posted 200 slide powerpoints and expected you to do good on his exams. This class was honestly a joke with him teaching. I learned next to nothing. I would only recommend him if you like making your life a struggle.
I would rather contract corona than to take his class again. He made no effort in trying to make sure we understood the material when the class was moved online and made the exams 10x times harder to ensure that no one passes.
His English is not easy to understand. He is super hard when it comes to writing labs. I personally wouldn't take him again.
I took this biology class last year with this professor and it wasn't the easiest. The class consisted of straight lectures where if you asked a question he would get mad and or ignore you. The four tests covered material that was said in class so yes attendance wasn't mandatory but is recommended. Overall, the professor made this course difficult
Dr. Osei is one of the most genuine professors at central. He teaches hard classes, but he really cares about his students. Its not an easy A but no STEM classes are.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but dont skip Everything is based on the slides which he uploads and what he says in class. I had some personal issues so my grade is only a 78 but honestly if this had been a normal semester I think I would have done way better. Take the notes and study no hw. His slides are a little confusing, the order is repetitive
This professor is very unclear. He doesn't like to clarify what material will be on quizzes and tests.
Posts a study guide then says that if you study just the things on the study guide you'll do poorly. Very unclear about what's on tests and quizzes.
This class was pretty easy if you do the study guides and study in general. Only exams and no homework or assignments ever. The professor is kind and understanding even though it is difficult to understand him sometimes. Take good notes during class.
The worst grade I ever received in my 4 years of college. This professor is very unclear as to what he expects. You ask him any type of question and it seems like it's a problem that you're asking him a question. He posts a study guide for each test but tells you if you study only the study guide you will get a bad grade. Everything is so unclear.
Do not recommend at all. Just lectures throughout the whole class and gets kinda upset when someone asks a question, or if someone responds to a question wrong.
Professor Osei is very professional and gets straight to business. He has never missed a class, he starts right on time and ends right on time. He is very lecture heavy. He has a very heavy accent which is hard to understand. He does not make connections with students, he teaches then lets us go. Take good notes, study them, then you will pass.
Exams are based on the TopHat questions that are done in class. You can pass this class easily without learning a thing but you could also learn a lot if you pay attention to his lectures.
He just talks at you and expects you to learn. If you like your GPA the way it is right now don't take the class.
Would not recommend this class to individuals who do not like lecture based learning. It is sometimes hard to understand him, he often doesn't like when students ask questions or gets aggravated when students don't get a answer correct. Lowest grade I ever received, he is a very specific grader. Majority of the grades are exam based.
lecture styles class all quizzes online. Very easy and all the answers are on the PowerPoints he goes over and shares on blackboard. Uses Tophat for attendance and participation grades.
He is not a good professor. Does not genuinely care about his students performance in his quizzes or exams. Does like when students ask questions whatsoever. I do not recommend taking him
the class is extremely lecture heavy and he doesn't due a great job helping when you ask a question in class. You are basically graded on attendance, weekly quizzes, questions online during the lecture and three tests. He NEVER gives study guides for the tests, doesn't give any specifics about topics you should study, which makes tests way harder
As long as you do Top Hat you are going to pass easily. All the test questions are top hat questions so study from those. Go to class because he explains everything very clearly and there is very rarely class participation, and you will not be called on unless you raise your hand. He has office hours to go over tests.
Pay attention, take notes, and ask questions!! I did all of these and am still struggling. The professor is super nice but does contradict himself a little bit and that is what has confused me in some lectures. Top Hat is fun but I wish there was a textbook with assigned reading for class. It would make some of the lectures easier to understand.
Peter Osei is extremely lecture-heavy, if you do not take notes or pay attention you are very likely to struggle. None of what was on the study guides were on the exams either.
Mainly uses TopHat and slideshows to teach. Class can get boring after a while, but if you just take notes and stay engaged then you'll do well on assessments. A lot of stuff is repetitive anyway. Chill guy. Online quizzes, in person exams, no midterm, no final! Has a slight accent, but still understandable.
Professor talked a bit at the opening of each class about the day's work and let groups work independently while he walked around to answer questions. Can be a bit hard to understand at times, but mostly fine. Main work is lab reports, with one quiz near the end. No final as it's a lab course.
Can barely understand him. TopHat questions are easy but exams are difficult. Nice guy but a difficult course.
actually the worst professor. says that procedures needs to be written in past tense which make no sense because the procedures are written before we even do the experiment. He clearly doesn't know what hes talking about. do yourself a favor and run if you see this man.
He was an amazing professor! make sure you have a good lab group, as long as you show your dedicated he will love you! He's a great professor and an even better person. I would love to take this class again, best lab ever!!!!
I took the lab bio 113 with him and it was probably my favorite class at CCSU. He is nice, funny, and wants you to succeed. I looked forward to my lab weekly. Attendance is mandatory, but if you skip and give him a reason then he will excuse it. He is an amazing professor, and he will love you if you pay attention and do the work. 100/10
A really great course with a really great professor. I felt as though I was actually learning in this class and not just memorizing the material for the exams. He really created an environment which fostered to my learning. Lectures are material heavy, but if you pay attention and take notes, you'll be golden. Would take again in a heartbeat.
Professor's lectures can get dry at times, but stay engaged and you'll do well. unstuck AI was a lifesaver for my study prep - much better than just relying on the slides. Overall a chill professor, but the assessments can be tricky without proper preparation.
Dude didn't speak English. It made it very difficult to understand him. He wrote things on the board and would erase it after 2 seconds. Exams were 50% with 4. Attendance was mandatory. He also looked at the walls or ceiling the whole time.
He just wasn't a good professor. Made tests very difficult. Class was just talking and he never answered our questions. Do not take him
The professor is smart, but his accent makes it difficult to understand him. There are communication issues between him and the students. He does write on the board, but erases even faster. The presentations could be more organized. The exam questions are worded strangely and he is a strict grader. Tophat is not compatible with his teaching style.
