This has been the worst class I have taken in my four years at York. Even though his tests were fairly easy, his lectures were pure hell. He was abrasive, couldn't answer questions clearly and was extremely unorganised. My advice is skip his ridiculous lectures and study for the exam from the book
The first part of the course was similar to PSYCH 2030 and I found it somewhat boring (reliability and validity). The second part, which dealt with different psychological tests from a more broader perspective, was much more interesting. Lectures are on the Internet, which is helpful for review.
Regarding the prof: to me he seemed like he was trying to be nice, his lectures are OK. IF you read the textbook or otherwise get familiarized with the content, his tests will seem relatively easy, but he will make up for the difficulty with a research assignment, and essay question on the final.

he really tries to help you understand the material. very apprachable and avilable. Was a bit scattered at the beginning, but got better with time. Little unclear with expectations for the assignment, tries to make it seem easier than it is. Lot of material for 3 credit course, but soo useful

course load seems like a 6 credit course rather than a 3 credit course
Great prof! Stories were interesting and tests were fair. There were a few questions where you had to know statistics, so be sure to memorize those.
THIS IS THE HOTTEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD, LOVED IT!
Taking abnormal psych with him this term and so far, he's been great. He's interesting, funny, and clear, and gives us an opportunity to get 2% in bonus marks added to our grade. His stories are also really entertaining. Haven't had any midterms yet, but hopefully they won't be that bad. He seems really nice!
He's a really nice guy. Fair tests (all MC)and one paper. His stories are really funny. Cute, too.
Hes a pretty good prof. Uses tons of examples to explain concepts, sometimes too many. Tests are all multiple choice and are fair.
He's very nice and has some interesting stories but his lectures aren't very clear. He focuses tons of time on seemingly irrelevant material. Also, his tests are full of really random and irrelevant questions.
Tests are straightforward and fairly easy (no tricks!). Prof is a nice guy, tries to make class bearable, gives opportunity to increase overall grade 2%. Tests are heavily text based, occasional questions from lecture.
He is an OK person but there is NO POINT going to class or reading the textbook for that matter because his tests have absolutely nothing to do with anything and I studied and I went to all classes. I cannot stress how AWFUL his tests are they have NOTHING to do with the material. I actually think a leprachaun wrote the irrelevant questions.
This class was excellent! I loved it! The tests were fair (all m.c) and the lectures were very interesting! Never a dull moment! The Prof was very engaging, enthusiastic, he really knew his stuff, and he has great stories to tell! One of the best courses I've taken! Overall, it was an amazing course with an excellent Prof! Hey...and he's cute too!
The Good: very interesting lectures, entertaining real-life stories and personal experiences, funny and good-looking. The Bad: not so good with answering questions and a stickler for statistics on exams...above all, course highly recommended.
He is one of the best prof's i've ever had. Finally someone how doesn't regurgitate the text. Plus he's so HOT. I couldn't stop staring.
Hot prof! easy exams as long as you read the textbook (but he fixates on small things like percentages so be careful). he is cute and funny and has relevant examples, but his lectures are so regurgitated from the text that he doesn't even writes his slides, the book's publisher does.
Amazing class...this guy has too many stories to ever bore u in one of his lectures...how bout a schizo. cut off his toe and actually ate it...what's not to love...tests are OK, basically understand the txt, and remember a few stats that he mentions in class and you'll be fine...this class is worth taking!!
Amazing Proff!!! and he has pretty good and helpful TA's too!! His tests are all MC's which are fairly easy. He does test you on the statistics so make sure you know those!! Lets you write a 1% bonus quiz online (where answers are ALSO provided!! ) and a 30% essay which will get you an A if the guidelines were followed
Excellent professor. Clear, to the point, simplifies concepts, gives many examples. Willing to help you and is definitely approachable. Tests are easy. Everything from the textbook. Nothing is from the lecture, although ppt slides are a good supplement for learning since he provides them online. Still worth attending lectures. Great fashion sense:)
Good prof with interesting stories that keep you listening. Really funny and drop dead gorgeous. Read the text and online lectures ladies cause it's pretty hard to pay attention to what he's saying while you're watching him walk around *swoon*. Otherwise, good content but a bit too much work- huge assignment and exams for a 3 credit course!
Great prof. I had him for an internet version of abn. psych. and it was a great experience. He was organized, helpful, as were the TAs, the course was well structured and I really enjoyed it. I thought the textbook was well chosen and he used it well and divided the information in a way that made the tests fair and not too hard yet challenging.
It was an internet course. His test are ok but he uses random stats to seperate the A students from the B's. He revised the grading scheme after the fact with participation by stating we would only have to post our answers online by the deadline to get our mark then 4 wks into it we realize his TAs a deciding if are answers are good enough.
Okay, so he's decent looking, but the man can't lecture. He pauses at the wrong times, and all his classes are basically a waste of time. I got an A, and that's because I stayed home and read the textbook, to take away the temptation of dropping. Polite, can speak english, but his CLASS is just a waste of time. Seriously.
He does not provide any assistance whatsoever. Also, he show any initiative in his class and he is not approachable.
I had this professor for a correspondence course, he does not provide any assistance for tests, he tells you to study everything and he will randomly select what he chooses to test you on and it will generally be some statistic you may have forgotten. Study hard because all the material is fair game, TERRIBLE TESTS WITH IRRELEVANT MATERIAL.
He does not like to respond to emails. His tests are too specific. He does not provide any class notes. He takes forever to post marks. Your marks will drop if you have him. I got an A but I had to study 8 hours a day because he doesn't tell you what is on the exam. It is like he doesn't exist. For one moment I thought he left the country. AVOID!!!
Worst professor ever, if you can even call him a professor because he does not teach, fails to provide with any notes, and if thats not enough, he doesn't even have the decency to respond to emails. Exams are toooo specific, everyone complained about their marks, study five days a week, memorize every WORD because he does not tell you whats tested
He does not provide you with any assistance during the exam. he doesn't respond to your emails. He makes his tests to specific so that you can fail. He doesn't want his students to succeed. Maybe because he want's to be the best and maybe afraid that there are peopel better than him. Papa takes forever to post marks. He is a useless teacher to have
This professor doesn't help you for nothing. His tests are toooooo difficult and he always tests on statistics. He expects you to do everything on your own. He doesn't assist any of his students in coresspondace couse. Don't take his online course whatever you do. Oh, and he takes forever to post marks!!!!!!!!
HE DOES NOT LIKE TO POST YOUR MARKS!!! HIS TESTS ARE BRUTAL!!! HE TAKES FOREVER TO RESPOND TO EMAILS AND YOU WILL DO HORRIBLE IN HIS COURSE. I TOOK HIS COURSE AND BECAUSE OF HIM MY GPA DROPPED. THANKS ALOT PAPADOGIANNIS :(
He took 2 wks to post marks which is about the same time it takes other profs to post grades. He had 200 students in his class so I think that 2 wks is reasonable. He even gave bonus mark to aspease people in class. Was an easy class as long as you did your readings and understood material.alot of people did well while some others did not.
Ok, I do very well in school and although I did finish with an A, I had to work harder than any course I have ever taken. His tests are unreasonable because his questions are poorly structured and if he is to test statistics, he should make them accurate not approximate. Two weeks to post marks, in an accelerated course, is excessive by any std.
He is a horrible teacher. I finsihed with a B- and I always get A's. This is the first course I have gotten soooo low. I don't know why profs get a kick of making tests sooo hard. His wording on the tests are TRICKY. you can get a question wrong not because you didn't know the answer, but because you couldn't understand what he was asking for.
Well, the majority of you people forgot to factor in the fact that you go to york. Most yorkies are idiots in my experience. I took 3090/3140 with this guy and got an A/A+ respectively. Most of you people probably took psych because you thought it would be a bird major or you all wanted to be psychologists lol..so much for both of those eh? hahaha
He has a lot of practical, applied knowledge, and not much theory under his belt. I thought he did a solid job with this course, plus he's friendly and interesting. But this is not something that is going to blow your mind. The multiple choice questions involving stats are unusual for a psych course. Doesn't have a dry voice thank god.
Great professor. His lectures were great and brought more meaning to the subject. The tests are challenging but fair if you've studied. Do your work and you will do well. Fair course.
I had him for behaviour in groups and abnormal behaviour. It was nice to have a younger professor for a change, he was clear, interactive with the students, and even made some of the course material interesting. The tests were easy, half the questions came from the online study site.
I really don't know why everyone is saying this prof is bad. I took abnormal psyc with him in the summer and I actually found him to be the best prof I have had at york. I found his tests very straightforward and I thought he was an excellent professor. If you study you will do well, if not you won't. It's that simple.
Hello, I think he is great. I also took his class in summer and loved it. I ended up with 96%, the highest final grade I ever got. Interesting lectures and tests seemed very fair,at least to me.One of the best courses I ever had.
Awsome professor! Wrote a letter of recommendation for school for me!
Very informative!
I took Behaviour in Groups and he was not as bad as every1 made him out to be. Test questions can have tricky wording but if u've done ur reading u should be fine. I scanned/read each chapter 2-3X & got 90s on the tests. Go to lecture to get material not posted (only few question on them tho) Stats q's were v. basic & no calculations were necessary
If you take this course, come to lectures and do all of your readings, twice. To the person that did get A's, she was unique:) He's an interesting prof, but a very hard marker
Straight-forward, no-nonse prof. Lectures are typically good and content appropriate. Challenging but more than fair M/C exams (no short answers). A 90% mark or higher is more than realistic. A rock solid prof.
he's a very helpful and nice prof. Totally recommend his course :)
awesome!
Clear lectures, approachable, easy going & nice, interesting material, test are fair and relatively easy, group project can be long but the process is fun. Highly recommended.
Great Lecturer. Awesome Curriculum. best course i have taken in my 5 years of University.
i am in love with him! lol
Bad bad bad!!! Oh god. That class was sooo boring (behaviour in groups)- and psych is my passion..! his lectures are power points that are a COPY of the textbook. he chooses a random topic and talks about it BRIEFLY. he never goes to depth about stuff. the tests are like, made to trick you. READ the textbook and you could do well.
This class isn't as boring as it sounds. Study the text for exams. The research project is harder than it appears so start early. The prof is very approachable and knowledgeable and was good at facilitating class discussion. However, I still haven't received two of my marks and it's January (one assignment I handed in in November)...very annoying.
AMAZING PROF!! Incredibly accomodating if you have a problem, very approachable. 3 Exams, 1 essay. Exams are easy as pie. 50 MC, should take only 30 minutes. Take his class!
Awesome Prof!! Lecture just goes over textbook. Theres 3 easy exams and one essay. Do the reading and youll have an A+
I really cant stand this prof. I mean the course material is ok...but he makes it sooo boring. And to make it even worse, he never posts the marks of the exams. It is crazy. He takes his sweet time while the students are eager to know what they got. This prof is not the best prof as people say he is. Don't take this class if you don't have to.
I expected this course to be more interesting and it was not! The professor lectures on the text and adds a few extra examples (not insightful). He is not helpful when you ask for assistance and takes forever to post marks. The TA's were useless and rude. Avoid this course and prof if you can!!! Trust me!
i love himmmmmmmmhe is the best prof ever...and he soooo sooo hot
Good teaching skills, love the way tests are done and assignments nice. He is also cute :). He likes to give additional info so make sure you are in class....otherwise....no trouble at all
Exams are pretty much straight out of textbook. Prof is interesting lecturer. Final essay is about 30%, moderate difficulty - research needed. Exams are all m/c
He has good intentions and his heart is in the right place, but he doesn't really know how to get the material across in a clear, concise way. PP slides were all over the place. It was hard to know just what exactly was necessary material. Also not very helpful when i got sick and had to defer my final exam. marks posted fairly quickly
Fantastic professor! Lectures were interesting. He took the time to answer questions and was very approachable. The exams weren't too hard as long as you went to class -- he tells you what to focus. The research paper wasn't too difficult but very time consuming. Do NOT leave it for the week before it's due!!
Hottest prof at york, clear lecture style and the slides are helpful, he tells you which stuff is important for the test. The group activities are fun but should be worth more than a percent. Interesting examples, only mcqs on the test, which can be a bit tricky. Final paper was 30% worth which required a lot of work.Highly recommended. Hotee:)
I thought he was pretty easy, friendly, and a good guy overall.
One of the best professors at York. He is EXTREMELY clear with instructions, gives plenty of bonus assignment opportunities, and takes what could possibly be some of the most boring material in psychology and makes coming to class worthwhile. 2 tests and 1 exam, all MC from lecture notes and text. 1-2 papers. Lots of work but very clear guidelines.
This class is extremely easy! He gives several opportunities for bonus marks so take advantage! Exams are really easy but 30% of the examis based on lecture material so attend class n take a few notes. He tells you which parts of the lecture to really study for the exam. Only 3 chapters per exam. The prof is nice and approachable, he clarifies theo
He teaches Behaviour in Groups. One of the best profs I had!! Love the bonus mark games and this class was a great chance to make friends because of the groups he puts us in. Normally not a fan of group work in uni, but this was AMAZING! TAs are friendly as well. : ) I recommend this course as he's very passionate about it.
Great prof, very clear on instructions. Easy bonus marks.
Relevant course structure, gives bonus marks for mini-group work. Really makes the class idiot-proof. strict on deadlines. nice guy overall and encourage his students to come talk to him during office hours (which are VERY short unfortunately). personally didn't enjoy his class for some reason but almost everyone else did...
knows a lot, very experienced professor and clearly enjoys his job.. he is very clear communicating his ideas and exams are very fair. you do however need to work on a group project, as well as on an individual project. readings are very easy. gives you A LOT of opportunities for bonus marks too. definitely reccomeneded, getting an A is possible.
Great Prof, very interesting subject, moderate difficulty tests. Lets students get bonus points for extra work. The only problem is the assignment: for some reason a lot of A students got pretty low marks after putting a lot of work into it. The textbook is available online for free in pdf if you look hard enough. Overall a great course!
The textbook is actually used, lectures are all over the place and feel pointless. Read the powerpoints at home for the exam. Exams are M/C and fair. Research assignment is unclear and the marking's unfair. Group work is annoying but expected in a class like this and you can get bonus points. I didn't like the class but it's not horrible.
Peter is incredibly nice and very helpful--he wants all of his students to succeed and will give bonus marks to students for completing small assignments. The assignment was a little vague but the tests were fair. At times, he let the class control the lectures and wasted time on irrelevant discussions. He rarely let us out early.
NICE PROF BUT HIS PPT ARE SOOOO INCONSISTENT THEY ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WORST PROFESSOR EVER!! HAS A PHD AND USES ALL THESE BIG WORDS!! TRIES TOO HARD!! IRRELEVANT PPT!! WASTE OF MONEY BUYING BOOK!! HARD EXAMS!! NOT ENOUGH TIME!! RUSHES US ALONG!! SHOWS US POINTLESS SHORT VIDEOS!! NEVER AGAINN!!!!!!
His exams did not test knowledge. They tested who was able to figure out his games better with the tricky wording. The highest mark on the group paper assignment in our class was a 73. Our group got a 72-second highest. He thought these were phenomenal grades.. skip his class if you want to maintain your GPA or want to actually learn something
good prof. was a little confusing to follow at times but always provides examples and is very fair. overall an enjoyable class.
He's so passionate about psychology and he's so organized, that it's really hard not to want to do well in his courses! He's very precise in what he expects and always follows through. He does use a lot of "big" words (was a chllenge for me, since I'm not Canadian), but if you go over the slides, you don't even need to read the book for the tests!
He himself is very nice but taking the course online with him is a bad idea, I wouldn't suggest it. A lot of students were frustrated with his online teaching as well as confusion during exams.
Peter can't stay on topic, he talks about completely irrelevant things which makes it hard to follow. He doesn't answer questions at all without talking about how important he is. I'm not taking this course at York but I couldn't find him under Guelph-Humber.
He is a good Professor, very passionate but his exams are very detailed. Exams are not based on concepts, bolded terms, or even lectures, it is all detailed stuff from the textbook
He's a little intimidating but generally wants you to do well in the class. He definitely is one of the best profs at York. He is also really funny so going to class is quiet entertaining and his bonus marks help a lot too! Exams are based on his online lectures, the text and in class convos (he gives a lot of hints in class on what to focus on).
3 Tests (all MCQ, non accumulative) and 1 Essay that requires a lot of current study references. Gets to work in actual groups. Although groups are chosen by surname's alphabetical order, all successful group works are only bonus marks: you don't actually lose mark by having an unsupportive group members. Ends early & post online videos to fill it
He a gd guy but the course is tooo hard!!! 1 midterm, 1 final, weekly responses need 2 academic sources, final research paper (marked very hard..i always received an A for all resaerch papers in other classes).. too much work for a 3 credit course
Very organized, clear, detailed and what you would expect from a 3rd year course. He gives you many opportunities to prove your understanding of the material (1 midterm, 1 final, research essay, weekly assignments) yet it seemed difficult to get an A+, however relatively easy to get an A.
challenging to get an A but definitely possible with enough effort. Need to keep up with the material as there are weekly assignment, midterms were difficult - need to know many specific seemingly irrelevant details
Clearest professor ever. He explains things until even those undeserving of their acceptance into York can understand. VERY animated and lively, approachable and respectable. The material is well laid out and manageable. Weekly group work, 3 tests, and a 10-page research paper. A pretty busy course, but it makes you think - like a U-course should.
Probably my favourite prof so far in three years at York. I look forward to his lectures, he's funny, personable, helpful and gives you just the right amount of challenge. Just wish there were more like him at York!
The material is relatively easy, however, the tests were very difficult. There seemed to be a disconnect between the material taught and the material on the test. The class average was around 55% as a result. Don't fall behind on the course work. One of the very few courses in psychology that I had to struggle to get an A.
Great prof, the online lectures really helped. He focuses on the DSM V so make sure you don't skip that in your textbook. If you read the chapters and watch the lectures, you will do fine. Lots of work though, weekly assignments, one 5-6 page paper and 2 exams. I would love to take more courses taught by Peter.
He speaks well, so going to class is useful because it is easy to pay attention. Tests are fair, he gives hints during class too. Lots of opportunity for bonus marks. My only complaint is that I wish the instructions for the research assignment were more clear, the way it was outlined was confusing at first.
Best prof i've had so far. Really enjoyed the lecture.. cant say that for most classes. Definitely would recommend.
nice prof & tests pretty easy. the only reason i didnt like the class was because the childlike group assignments we had to do. the final essay is vague beyond words. 10 page research assignment based on absolutely NOTHING! the group assignments were very immature i felt like i was in high school. he's nice tho and it wasn't too bad of a course.
What a hottie! He's very entertaining in class so it's impossible not to pay attention. His exams start out easy but then get really hard so keep up with your readings and take notes in class. I enjoyed this class and learned a lot.
If you attend class, listen, take notes and keep up with the assigned readings then the tests will be easy. The tests are mostly application based so make sure you understand the definitions and concepts you are reading in the book. The 30% assignment is vague and is marked harshly. Overall, it was a decent course.
lectures r provided weekly, but the voice sounds monotone and the quality of recordings is poor. Tests r MC, but questions r written in the most confusing way possible;class average was low. There's also weekly discussion questions that u have to answer. If u have option of taking this course in class with a different prof., don't take this one.
He's funny and talkative. But he sometimes goes out of topic and it makes me hard to follow.. I know he wants us to have fun while listening to his lecture, but it's gotta be more concise I think real life examples are more than enough ;
He is one of the best profs in the psyc department here at Yorku. He is so funny and helpful and respectful to all his students. his exams are super fair and the essay was fairly graded but required lots of research which was not the easiest. It is a class that you want to go to and the after class group activities are really fun but childlike :))
I love him. So much. I took abnormal (online) with him and ya'll know that's a hard course cause it has like a million things you need to know but he made it enjoyable and interesting. I also had him for behav in groups and he was cool there too. Just do the readings, pay attention in class and you'll be fine. :)
He is the first male psychology professor that I enjoyed being in class at York. Professor Peter makes behavior in groups interesting and fun to be in. His tests were good and easy but his assignments marked by the Tas were horribly done. He puts extra bonus marks from his in class assignments on each test but you just have to participate and doit
Great professor his lectures are enjoyable. Exams get harder each time so study hard. The essay was very straight forward. The bonus marks really help so take advantage of it. Overall a great class.
He is one of the worst professors I've ever had. He teaches irrelevant material and then tests you on it. The material is in the old version of the textbook but tells you to buy the new one. He is the slowest talker I've ever had, his online lectures are tedious and outdated. Would not recommend.
One of the best profs at York. TAKE 3430 WITH HIM
Can talk for hours without saying anything. Never finishes on time & makes you go watch terribly recorded online lectures. Dr. P if you are reading this, change your slides. Not only are they filled with spelling mistakes, but they're very difficult to understand, lacking any logical order. Makes you drive to Georgetown for bonus marks. Ridiculous
You really get what you pay for with this class. He is a great lecturer; animated, not monotone. Semester consisted of 15% midterm, 25% midterm, 30% 10 page essay, 30% final. Chances to get bonus marks through weekly group assignments to hand in. Tests are all multiple choice, 60 questions for midterms and 90 on final. Textbook absolutely needed.
While it is possible to get an A - it is an annoying class. Far too much work for three credits (mini research assignments weekly, two exams, a big research paper). Lectures are also outdated (he recorded them in 2012) and required textbook is current which causes lots of contradictions and confusion with the material. Don't recommend.
He is a great instructor but the course itself is really boring. If you do not need it do not take it. A lot of reading. Tests are from 3 chapters only. The group project is needed for your paper. Bonus marks help a lot. The assignment is not that easy. Start from beginning and do not wait for assignment talks because it will not help you.
This course was so interesting, but it definitely requires you to memorize a lot of things! But he was clear to the point and made the course interesting, and his tests were fair. It was all MC. Would love to take his course again
Nice guy . Very clear about what you need to know. If you go to lectures, that is at least 10 -15 MC quest in you pocket. It could feel like a lot of memorizing , because there is a lot of terms , ppl and concepts. Can do very well if you study lecs only. There is no glass ceiling in this course, you can achieve an A+ if you put the effort in.
Great class w pretty interesting material. Some of the theories are dry but Prof P is very lively and fun and gets students to pay attention. Beware his tests get gradually harder so make sure u study! Do NOT write your final essay at the last min cuz its alot of research. He chooses your group members for assignments so u don't have a choice.
He is an alright teacher, his lectures are too long. He provides a lot of irrelevant information, way too much background information, redundant at times. Also, he is not understanding when it comes to late assignments, won't make exceptions for legitimate reasons. Overall, he is very boring and redundant.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU DONT LIKE GROUP WORK There is a paper worth 30% of final grade and it is utterly dependent on the group you are forced to work with EVERY CLASS including a HORRIFYING scavenger hunt to BRAMPTON. BEWARE! Also- he's taught the class so many times its like watching a stage performance rather than a lecture BORING
Great professor (actually better than 99% of the nursing faculty)
Never opened a page of the book, got an A+. Memorize the slide, and attend lecture. Gives a lot of hints and bonus marks. The assignment is not that bad, look at the citations of the samples he gives in class to get a sense of direction and save time researching. I was annoyed that he rarely finished a lecture and sent us to watch his videos
Peter was one of my favourite profs here at York. He really wants his students to succeed so he takes the extra mile to explain assignments, test expectations, etc. He cares about participation, so if you engage in the two multiple choice quizzes he offers throughout the year you will certainly see it helps you on the tests. Very smart about psych.
Take his class is all I have to say, the first 3rd of the first lecture was music to my ears.
Very bad lecturer. His lecture are boring, the lecture slides are inadequate. I regret taking this class, and my group members have given me anxiety, to now I'm taking anti-anxiety medication. If you don't work with the group you lose 30%, so I have no choice. Avoid this class if you can.
Engaging lecturer, but he sometimes reposts lectures from years ago that don't correspond with the textbook. Midterm was pretty easy but final was very hard. Weekly online discussions: very picky with APA citation and you can lose a lot of marks if you don't learn to do it properly. Takes a long time to respond to emails.
Very taught on marking research paper which screw the whole picture and feel like wasted time trying to get as much information as possible to support the points. The average is 20 out of 35 points. The best mark is 28 out of 35 and only two three persons. Lots of work during semester. The lectures are interesting, tests are ok but be ready to work
Prof. Peter as he calls himself is the most inaccessible, confusing and unorganized instructor I have ever encountered. Takes weeks to responds to e-mail and when he does, he is short and does not address you by name. He provides useless assignments and SO picky about APA format taking off marks for missing a period. Avoid him at all costs!
I thought Abnormal Psychology was an amazing course! Prof. P made sure he explained everything in detail (or so he could for an online course) and the textbook was extremely interesting! The exams (which are at York; not online) were a bit tough (all MC) but the essay was easy as long as you really support your arguments. TAKE THIS COURSE!
I had an online course and his videos were great, very easy to stay focused (something i GREATLY struggle with). You have an online post every week which is easy if you know proper APA. Other than that, a midterm and final and one paper. All graded fair, tests are easy and final is not cumulative! Would highly recommend :)
I would 10/10 recommend this prof to any student. His exams are EXTREMELY reasonable and fair, and during lec he even highlights "stuff to memorize". Although participation work (for both psyc 3140 and psyc 3430) can get kind of tedious, overall it is easy to achieve good marks with mediocre effort. Also he is super nice and approachable!
He's a very caring prof. the group work and paper are annoying but the the other 65% of the course is easy A. do the group thing for 15 minutes a week and work hard on the paper for a week or so and you'll easily ace the course.
I've taken abnormal and groups with him and have gotten A's in both with minimal work. Didn't use the textbooks, just took detailed notes during lecture. Put in some effort into ur research assignment and you'll do great.
Peter's online lectures were a little outdated and difficult to listen to at times because of redundancy and is VERY strict on APA format, but as long as you participate in every course discussion and quizzes and it will be an easy ride. Test was very fair. Overall, an interesting course and learned a lot. Would recommend this course and prof
Hands down the best professor I have had in my academic history. He makes the content come to life with amazing examples. His lectures are nothing but boring, tests, 1 paper and a final. Tests are 60 MC, exam is 90 MC, paper is 30% worth. Attend and you will ace it, its merely impossible not to. Oh and he is a charmer too, which only adds to it.
Awesome prof! Lectures are clear, concise, and engaging. You do need the textbook to do well because the tests/exam comprise both the lecture content (ppt slides) and textbook readings. Tests and research paper fair. Test 1 (15%) 60 M.C, Test 2 (25%) 60 M.C, Exam (30%) 90 M.C, research paper 30% + bonus mark assignments.
If you go to class you won't even need the book. Just listen to what he says in class, he tells you what you NEED to know and how he will test you on it. Do the group work its really easy bonus marks for your test. There are bonus marks for every test so you are always getting bumped up a few and the group work is easy.
Truly the best professor I've ever had at York. He is SO kind and extremely willing to re-explain material until you understand. He's the type of prof that makes 3 hr lectures very tolerable, and it's the only 3hr class I don't fall asleep in. A+ is easily possible.
So far I love this class! He is a great professor and you can tell he enjoys what he teaches which makes learning even better. The class isn't boring at all, probably my favourite class this semester. He tells you everything you need to know for test. He's also easy on the eyes which makes the class even better! 10/10 would recomment
Prof Peter is incredible! He's incredibly clear with his expectations (which are not high - study key concepts and you're good!), explains things very clearly, and keeps you engaged during lecture. The course does have group work, so be aware of that. Genuinely one of the best profs at york (and I've had some gems here). Super straightforward!
This is my favorite class of the year. His lectures are like Ted talks. He makes the 3 hour lecture interesting by using examples from his own life. He gives two breaks (10 min. each). Tests were 60 m/c based off lecture (he tells you exactly what to study in class) and textbook. You get easy +1 bonus mark on your tests per weekly submission.
A gem of a professor. Super clear and straightforward lectures. The group work was a refreshing change amidst all the courses I was taking and it had a purpose in helping you write a solid research paper. The tests are fair as can be and he gives you hints in class as to what you should study or understand in particular.
Solid choice. He lectures very well and is very clear in the expectations of the course. Unfortunately, the strike has resulted in me having to do this course again.
My main annoyance with him was that he talked soo slow in his online lectures and you couldn't speed them up! Lots of info is packed into his lectures and slides and you need to pay attention to detail! He also asks stuff from textbook so make sure to read that too. Takes a long time for him to reply to emails... Extremely picky on APA format.
The lectures aren't so bad. He has guest lecturers for most of them and they were pretty interesting. As long as you do those, the weekly assignments and the readings, the tests will be no brainers and those weekly assignments prepare you for the final paper but cause you have to do a little research and having it in APA format, not too difficult!
Peter is by far one of the best profs I have had since I started my undergraduate. Im in my third year. There are two exams the midterm is worth 30% and the second is worth 35%. Just make sure to do the readings for that week and keep up with lectures hes super clear with what he wants. Make sure you do APA properly and do the posts every week!
His tests are very easy and simple. We have online discussions every week worth 2% and the amount of work you have to put in for 2% is not worth it. Requirements are 2 references and PROPER citations. He would deduct .5 off if you capitalized or italicized the wrong letter. Ridiculous.
The course had a lot of work for an elective. The TA's didn't know what they were doing most of the time. You have to work extremely hard to get the 2% online discussion mark. I enjoyed the online lectures. Peter sometimes teaches the material that is not in the textbook so the readings and his lectures are mandatory for success in this course.
He is an great professor! Cares about his students and the topic of the class! The textbook used in the class is also great and very clear and easy to read! His test are a little tricky with the wording, so take your time to study and understand the concepts. Explains everything clearly and is well coordinated.
Peter is a great prof. He explains very well, brings real-world examples to illustrate the content and he is open for questions inside the classroom and outside the classroom. His tests are super fair. He is very straight forward with what is going to be on the test and the test contains a lot of common sense and interesting content. I loved it!
Unreal. Best prof at York. Very helpful, accessible, teaches you what you need to know, takes time for his students and is an amazing lecturer. Definitely recommend!
Pretty easy course and hes pretty chill too. His tests are straight from his lecture slides. He talks alot. The paper for the course is extremely long and heavy for a 3 credit course.
The professor speaks loud and clear (w/o a mic) He uses life examples and is interesting. He is open with what you should expect on the exam. He does talk a lot, repeats himself. There is group participation - He groups based on last name and give bonuses. Two tests (3 ch. each), 10 pg research paper, final exam (based on 3 ch.) Not testbank based.
Peter is one of my favourite professors at York. Shares his real-life experiences & stories to elaborate on concepts which make important content understandable & memorable. He's easy to listen to & funny! His tests are mostly word-for-word what he says in his lectures when elaborating on powerpoints. Txtbook - study/theory/model details. Know APA!
It's an easy class, 3 exams and a 10 page essay. The essay was tedious and a chore but not difficult. For exams, skimming through the slides and textbook was enough for me. I didn't like Peter as a lecturer however, he moves insanely slowly and I didn't find him very useful. I would recommend showing up for group activities though for bonus marks.
seriously take another course if you can, too much stuff for a 3 credit course with such an egoistical professor
Amazing prof. He really explains everything incredibly. Super easy tests and even though essay was 10 pages, easy to complete within 4 days. If he is your prof, you're lucky. Easy to approach and encourages involvement in class.
Engaging lecture style and provides real life examples to help you understand concepts. His tests require both textbook and lecture slides, but if you do the group assignments, he'll give you bonus marks. The paper is 10 pages but he provides you with examples from past students to help you.
Professor Papadogiannis is easily one of the best professors I have ever had. His lectures are great and he is very clearly on what information you will need to know for the exams. The exams were non-cumulative and all multiple choice. He is a very fair marker. I am currently taking an in-person class with him and he is very engaging and relatable.
He's better in the groups course but don't take this online course. His lectures are so unorganized and terrible. The guests lectures are even worse. A ton of work for a 3 credit course. Textbook is also long and extremely boring. Content is interesting but pick a different prof.
This class is a bit annoying since there are group projects every week (always same group). They're for bonus marks but need group experiences to write the research paper... He picks them so you can't even be with friends... each week have project to do with them... tests are straight from his slides so it's important to memorize them!
I like Peter. I believe he is super clear in lectures and gives real life examples that help for the tests. Group assignments each week we're a chore but worth it for the bonus marks that get added to your test marks. Also, didn't like the 10 page essay. Wasn't hard but REALLY tedious. A LOT for a 3 credit course though. I anticipate getting an A/+
The lectures were quite dry and boring. The course was uninteresting. The assignment and bonus marks really depends on your group - if you get a good group to work with. However, Prof. Papadogiannis is easy to talk to. Not sure I would take his courses, as his presentation of the material is terrible. Plus he tests a lot on names.
This course is just straight up boring. The prof is very full of himself and thinks the subject he teaches is actually important. Most useless course I've ever taken. However I found the tests very easy. THE 10 PAGE ESSAY IS JUST TORTURE!!!!
He is great at explaining concepts and makes everything seem so straightforward! The course itself requires a lot of reading but Peter definitely made it possible for me to understand all the content with ease and get a good grade.
Peter's actually a huge beauty. This is the first proff at York that I wholeheartedly believe is awesome at their job. You can really tell that he's taught this class before because of how well he executes each lesson. 3 things you should know about this course: 1. There is group work. 2. 10-page essay. 3. Stay on top of things and you're blessed.
Great prof! Really straight forward about what he expects, guides you through the online course in detail. Make sure you do the discussions with proper APA format (strictly), read the textbook, and you're good to go. He also gives examples for the paper which is helpful.
The course (3430 Behaviour in Groups) was very straightforward and Peter made the questions on the exam very direct from the textbook or slides. The paper was very rigid but in a way made it easy to complete.
Peter Papadogiannis recycled all lectures from his summer class, most lectures are done by other people not even the Peter himself and the PowerPoints are long consisting of at least 40+ slide. Personally, I think he could've put more effort and thought into the class considering students pay full price for this.
The online class this semester was a joke. Half the lectures were not even done by him and if they were they were old prerecorded lectures. He posted numerous powerpoints in one week (6 ppts in one week) and just expected students to find the time to go through them. Very poorly run course and a waste of money.
If it isn't mandatory, I would not advise taking a course with him. He gives a bunch of instructions for the papers but still manages to find other random criteria to give a bad grade.
He is a professor that cares for his students as persons and genuinely wants them to do well and learn. Great lecturer, very knowledgable, beloved by students and an awesome person! He went above and beyond any expectations, such as when, he gave me back my lost lunchbag.
He is a great prof., but, the people who he lets guest lecture are awful. I found them very confusing, don't really explain topics properly, and jump from one thing to another. Peter is great though - the tests and assignments are clear cut and implore the knowledge you should have learned during the class. I just wish he did all the lectures.
Seems nice, didn't have much interaction. Lectures and prerecorded and the entire class is self propelled. Offered question periods on Sundays at 6pm, could never attend as I work weekends, wasn't helpful. Midterm test was fair, make sure to do your readings.
Peter was a great professor and the TA's were very fair in marking. He really sets you up for the final research paper weeks and weeks in advance. Has a clear grading criteria. This class is an easy A if you actually pay attention to lecture material and complete necessary assignments.
The class was composed of 2 tests, forums and an essay. Found it easy to get good marks. APA is very important to the prof so you have to be careful with it. The exams were all MC and pretty straightforward.
I personally enjoyed Peter's class. I felt like he gave amazing and very clear instructions for the papers that were assigned in this course. The exams were OK - really felt like they were more lecture than textbook concentrated. I would definitely take him again.
Professor Peter is one of the better professors I've had at York. If you just keep up with his classes then the discussion boards are relatively easy and straightforward to complete. If you follow his presentations than his exams are straightforward and he doesn't pull questions out of thin air. Would take another class with him.
Professor Papadogiannis' lecture format transitioned very well to the online format. His recorded lectures are very easy to watch and during the occasional live meetings he's very attentive to student questions and concerns. The Forsyth Group Dynamics textbook was very good and he expanded on it very well in his lectures.
The professor seemed nice. Out of all of the lectures, only 2-4 of them were taught by him, everything else was taught by guest lecturers. I studied a LOT for this course; the test and exam seemed easy but the marking is SO hard. The research assignment was also marked ridiculously hard. Don't recommend, you will drop a letter grade.
Overall, a good course to take & very interesting. Exams were MC and not too bad, just a little tricky. Just listen to prerecorded lectures & read the textbook and you'll be okay. The assignment & forums weren't too bad either. I liked how he was clear & gave a lot of examples. Very picky with APA. 35% midterm, 35% final, 20% paper, 10% forums
PSYC3430 with Dr. Papadogiannis was awesome and I would take a course with this prof again. His lecture material was interesting and he was easy to follow. The whole course was well organized, manageable, and he made his expectations and grading criteria super clear. I also really enjoyed the written paper for this course.
His lecture is practical and helpful, even outside of academia. He brings examples from his mental coaching and sports counselling practices, making content more memorable for students. A very fair marker with clear criteria and is accessible outside of lectures. I highly recommend his class and would retake any of his courses in a heartbeat.
Very knowledgeable and used a great deal of examples during lecture which helped to solidify certain concepts. Easy to listen to and understand, and really knows how to capture the attention of the class.
Nice guy but wasn't a fan of the class, I expected to really enjoy it but didn't. His slides are disorganized, he never finishes them because he goes on too many tangents. Also refuses to post the slides. Also 5 mini group assignments, super annoying and useless.
Very entertaining and relates lectures to his field experience. Very helpful visualizing concepts through his stories. Refers to textbook but bases tests off lecture material. Makes very clear his expectations as well as what should be studied. Slides are uploaded but not recorded, so important points will be missed if you dont attend. 12/10 for me
I'm not too fond of his PowerPoint slides. They are too messy and he tends to skip some slides instead of going over everything. You gotta rely on the textbook to understand the materials. The only thing I like about this Professor is his energy - enthusiasm and funny.
His PPTs... are unorganized. Glad someone said it too.
Loved this prof for PSYC 3430. Attendance isn't mandatory, but going to them is useful for preparing for exams. Very passionate. I had his class in the morning, but his energy had me still paying attention to all of his lectures regardless.
not a very nice guy.
Really nice prof, let me take the midterm at a different time since I was travelling. His powerpoints are a bit messy to follow, but pretty easy to take notes from. midterm and final were 80 multiple choice but straightforward, and the case study essay was clear and easy to write since it is just answering questions.
Prof is okay. The PowerPoints are not organized, attendance is mandatory, and textbook is used in class. TA Sharon was a VERY strict grader.
Professor Peter is generally good, but the guest lecturers can be hit or miss. Focus on the textbook and his slides, and you'll do well. Try using Unstuck ai for efficient exam prep.
Peter is an awesome prof! Super kind and genuine, and lecture makes you feel engaged. Attendance is important as there is no recorded parts and he points out what he will quiz on in class. Participation can be difficult if you don't know APA format correctly. Always wants to discuss with students and is super attentive during office hours.
Professor tells you what to study for the tests during lectures. TAs are not consistent in marking, very little adherence to the rubrics. Prof told us on a few occasions that students at Guelph Humber were better than us, which undermined the learning environment. Show up, read, and work with your group and you should be fine.
This professor is absolutely awesome. Lectures were at a bad time (Friday @8:30am), but he showed up every week with great energy and always stayed extra to talk with you and give you feedback if asked. I would highly recommend this professor and would take his courses again.
Honestly, BEST prof ever. I mean it. Go to class and listen to lectures; they're very interesting. I honestly just took this course cause I needed a 3000-level course, but honestly, I don't regret it at all. 1 paper, 2 midterms, and final (not cumulative). Very doable if you pay attention and go to class. Overall, 10/10 recommend.
He is definitely passionate and knowledgeable in his field but this course feels less like a psychology course and more of a business course focused on psychology... It was super boring, group work is required, he lectured down to the last second in class. He tested on topics he didn't teach in class, read the textbook and know specific people.
I took abnormal psychology with him, and it was fine. The grading is a little confusing for me, no matter how hard I tried, I always missed something in the discussions and lost marks. The exams were fair but not easy. Definitely read the textbook. I didn't enjoy the lectures, mostly relied on the textbook.
He was a good lecture and passionate about what he teaches but he often gets side tracked and then doesn't go through much of them material so he uploads poorly recorded videos for you to watch instead.
The professor is very nice and accommodating. He often misses what he needs to cover in the lectures. Although he will say attendance isn't mandatory, it is in order to do the group work and he sometimes mentions things in the lectures that are important but not on the slides. The class mostly got Ds and Cs. You need to study a lot for the exams.
I wish he taught more classes, I'm not a psych major but his two classes made me wish I was, its so interesting and I loved attending his classes, although I agree with others that there's memorization involved for a lot of part but hey its not cumulative! And the research papers are easy, clear and he gives lots of examples in class.
honestly a really good and clearly passionate prof. you done need to go to class, but he gives bonus marks and its easier to hear him than to just read off the powerpoint slides. tests are fairly difficult, very ambiguous questions, you definitely have to study and read textbook to do well. but just do the work and youll succeed
