really into egypt, don't expect to breeze through that part. otherwise, he keeps it interesting.
he is such a mean professor he is not helpful at all he only talks about egypt
He is not an effective teacher. He never discusses the reading assignments and is very boring. Don't take this class!
This class is the worst class I have ever taken!!! He is not only unclear but he rambles about subjects that have nothing to do with the class!!! Don't take this class!!!
This is the worst class I have ever taken. You are expected to read, read, read.... He is always off subject, never clear on material and very boring. Do NOT take this class.
This is a horrible class because the professor makes it that way. He is very unclear. He lectures on one thing, but we read about something completely different. On top of that we have so much busy work to do. Do not ever take his class. Run like hell!

this is by far the worst teacher i have ever had...he will not help you and he is completely unclear in everything he says. Not to mention he is RUDE.
Prof. P. isn’t bad. His reading quizzes are tough, but his midterm and exam are pretty easy. He slashes up your papers (lots of red ink), but the actual grade you get isn’t as bad as you think it’s going to be. He’s more then willing to help you with pape
very nice man. fun if you like hearing interesting lectures on history. avoid otherwise
is a 10 page term paper equal to a midterm? if you miss a test with an excuse he gives you a 10 pg term paper. he rambles about word origins. and i feel like i wasted my money. do not take this man.
The BEST professor in the College. He is Funny, Interesting and reasonably easy. Your grade is always better than you thinkit will be.TAKE HIM!!!
he is a little difficult but knows what he is talking about
He is rude and demeaning. For a class that is needed only for gen ed, it requires a lot of work and reading that you have to interpret from 2000 years ago, with no help from him.
I HATED HIS CLASS!!!! Not one student in my class enjoyed it, or even understood. He is SO broad and runs off on his own little tangents. By the end of the year you will know he is an eygptologist because thats all he ever talks about!!! NO!!!
Oh where do I start? I hated his class. At first I thought he was nice but then he starts on with his better-than-thou attitude. His lectures were very hard to follow... but he did have an easy midterm!
I like him. He does know what he is talking about and can be a little goofy. The map and reading quizes are easy if you study over your notes and readings
Dr. Piccione is an extremely good professor. The man knows his stuff. Those that love history, like myself, have no problem in Dr.Piccione's classes.Where did the idea of him being rude come from?
Funny, entertaining, & enthusiastic professor. He knows his material and tries to keep things interesting. Half cheesy/half dry sense of humor-don't take his jokes personally-he means well. Be sure to read. Do NOT miss any tests, quizzes, or papers!
GREAT CLASS!!!! I loved it. He is one of the best Prof. @ cofc. However you do have to study a little... lots of map quizes(easy) and one major paper.
The worst teacher in school. Do not and i repeat do not take this man.
If you need organization to do well, Piccione is not the professor for you. He never follows the syllabus and his teaching methods are difficult to follow. Very confusing and made me hate history even more.
very good teacher who knows his stuff. Take this class if you like history because he makes it very intresting.
This class was so boring. He would ramble about things that were off topic so when its time for exams we didnt know any of the 200 terms he gave us to look up. He gives reading quizes which are pointless and that bring down your grade. Dont plan on missing class cause he excuses nothing
So, I thought this class was alright, figured I would study really hard for the final but WAIT...he didn't show up to the final because he forgot...I don't think a teacher like that is worth taking!!
Very easy when grading. Paper was so hard to write b/c no info on class material could be found anywhere. The class was such a pain and he is very stuck-up and hard to talk. He is a huge name dropper in class and he thinks hes really cool. you must be in class everyday for credit, very boring class.
Class was VERY interesting & U learn alot IF U attend and write good notes. He grades fairly and will help you IF you TALK to him...he is NOT stuck up! Very nice!!!
Hard, but informative and helpful. Can do well if you work hard.
A difficult professor teaching difficult material. Read the assignments and study for tests and you should easily get the B, but expect to work unusually hard for an A. Not always very clear and wanders off on sundry tangents off the top of his head (which are on the test, so don't miss class!)
Fair. Go to class and write down everything you hear..then there is no need to read the book. He goes on tangents but also test you on them. Pretty easy class if you go and then review his random terms before test.
He is good ol Brooklyn boy. Interesting lectures, nice, laid back, goes the extra mile to help students. 1 long research paper, but he has you meet with him so he can help walk you through it. Very fair grader and give lots of extra credit. All you have to do for an A is show up and take notes.
Awesome professor! He made what would have been an extremely boring lecture really interesting! Hes really animated. covers all the material in class. Read all the primary sources though, they are the basis of all quizes!
Not very polite, and very difficult to understand. Doesn't teach from the books.
Most boring teacher I have had here. Classes are soo boring but you have to go. very strict about attendence and hates atheletes. Can't spell so he just makes things up, and many times is very rude. Thinks he is funny, but just annoying. Awful, DO NOT TAKE!
mr. piccione is such a fabulous teacher. just a brilliant man, really knows his stuff. great personality, very animated and funny. he really makes lectures fun and engaging. he teaches very clearly and is always asking questions and getting the class involved, in a fun way. he is fair and very helpful. take him.
Great guy with a really good personality. His lectures are full of info and he strives to help his students. Passionate about his subject and really knows what hes talking about. Would recomend him to anyone and would certainly take another class with him.
Piccione is crazy! he goes off on random tangents (which is also tests on). but he's a nice guy, and all ramblings aside, i still made an A in the class. Don't do the readings---he NEVER goes over them. He's not that hard, you just have to get used to him.
Very bright, old-school lecturer. Notes are very important. Quizzes are easy, if you do the reading, but the midterm, final, and term paper can be tough. Very informative if you have any interest in history. If you don't, it might be tough. Take him.
I've got mixed feelings on Dr. Piccione. He's a great guy, really funny, easy to get along with and really helpful. Classes are really boring, especially since he rarely stays on topic and strays all which ways. Difficult to follow at times and often could make things more clear with info at the beginning he waits until the end to give.
Good teacher. Knows a lot about what he teaches, but he tends to spend too long in his specialty area (Egypt, Ancient Near East, etc). Gives easy map quizzes, easy term tests, and if you read the right book, easy reading quizzes. Only one term paper, and he is a real fun guy to be around.
I LOVED prof Piccione! I am NOT a history person and was not interested one bit comming in to this class but Prof. P made it interesting and fun. He did get off subject a good bit but its ok. His quizes are really easy and he grades the midterm pretty easily too.
Very difficult to stay awake in his class. His quizzes are completely based on the reading. Attendance is mandatory but it is difficult because his class is so boring and irrelevant to quizzes and essays. Extra credit is only offered if you have not missed any graded work...so if you really need extra credit you can not get it.
He is a wonderful professor with good stories. If you have any interest in history, I highly suggest this class. It doesnt require as much work as you would think, just attend class and listen to the lecture. he gives a study guide for each test, follow it and you can make an A. I learned more in his history class than any other
DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN!
He is not only the worst professor but a really awful guy. He actually enjoys punishing his students! His memory is awful so dont expect him to show up to appointments or return emails. And if you have any special circumstances he'll forget and then accuse you of trying to sneak it by him or something...then hell deduct points anyway
I don't know how else to warn everyone...it is SOOOO not worth it to take this class. He is a really rude guy and talks down to the class like we're in elementary school. DON'T TAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hands down worst professor at cofc
Piccione is...an interesting man. I almost fell asleep in lectures and the paper we had to do was sort of stupid, but he grades pretty easily, so it was OK. Boring, but not the most difficult class in the world.
Piccione is very boring and hard to follow. Gives almost no notes, and lectures the whole time, usually not relating to the reading. Term paper is extremely hard because the books that go with it are very boring and hard to read. Mostly short answer tests. I would not recommend unless you are a strong history student.
WORST professor I have ever had! I was so interested in taking the Ancient Egyptian Empire, and it turned out to be the worst choice. The entire grade was based on a single paper that he provided NO help with. He is a useless professor and spends 95% of his time talking about his feelings about other specialists in the field.
the entire class is based on one paper that is extremely hard to write because it had nothing to do with what you talk about in class so you basically have to teach yourself.can miss up to 8 days.extremely boring and very had to pay attention in class esp 8am.only reading is from primary text for quizzes so other book is not needed.not really recco
I am not sure who is writing the good comments on him, but I think it might be himself. Teaching style aside, there is no excuse ever to be as rude to anyone as he is to students. I am a classicist, my friend is a historian, we each pulled an A, and neither of us could give this man a good rating, so it has nothing to do with discipline or grades.
Really knowledgeable about material, but has absolutly no idea how to convey it to students in an organized or remotely clear way. Class is painfully boring, he just rambles on about irrelevant topics. Term paper is ridiculous and doesnt coincide with lecture, but then again nothing really does. He means well, just isn't cut out for teaching.
Prof Piccione is a wonderful teacher, and was a pleasure to learn from. He is especially good if you are into history, but is entertaining still even if you aren't. Fun class for me
His lectures are very hard to follow so it is hard to take good notes and the lectures do not parallel the assigned readings. However, if you actually do the readings, the quizzes are very easy. There is an 7-8 page paper due at the end of the course, which he does not provide much help for. He is a smart man, but not a very good teacher.
In the middle of this class, hating every waking second of it. According to his syllabus, six weeks into the course we are still going over material from the first and second week. He constantly goes off-track, talking about the most pointless things. Avoid like Plague.
Every class was boring, not including the 2 days we watched movies. He doesn't allow laptops, and the essay for the class was SOOO hard. He did decide not to have the final exam and that was really nice of him.
I think he is an intelligent man and an average to above average teacher. My only real gripe is that his lectures do not correspond to what you are reading and it can be confusing. However, he tries to keep his lectures as entertaining as possible and involve the class. He does go off into tangents often. His tests are easy if you read the material
This guy is on a TOTAL powertrip. Completely pompous and ridiculous. His "constructive criticism" is him demeaning his students & making you feel like a 5 year old on the first day of class. His lectures and the reading material don't even match because he gets 4 weeks behind. This class was SO aggravating. DONT TAKE HIM!!
Really fun guy and extremely sweet. He'll go off on tangents but at least in my class he didn't grade very strictly was always fair, just show up stay awake and ask questions and your set. His classes were interesting and relaxing and he is always willing to help. Take him! it's easy even if it is kind of unclear ;)
Does not keep up with assigned readings. Never stays on topic. The class is basically based on a 6-7 page paper due halfway through the term. He always goes on random tangents and is really confusing.
extremely intelligent man which is what causes his tangents. Tangents might not seem relevant but usually are connected to his lesson in some way. stay on top of the reading assignments because he doesn't always line up his lessons with the reading. Easy class if you study your notes from class and read the readings. Great guy
This class is a mixed blessing. The tests and map quizzes are sooo easy, but attendance is mandatory and affects your grade, which is basically because lecture is sooo boring that no one would come. Expect tangents that make you wish you were ANYWHERE else. Also the term paper is on a complicated topic with no instruction or lecture on the subject.
My least favorite class. SOOOO boring, soo confusing and lectures every second of the class. The tests are hard, map quizes easy, and final paper is next to impossible bc it has absolutely nothing to do with anything he teaches in class. Would Not recommend this class
This was my most boring class ive yet to have at CofC. He goes off on crazy tangents and never stays on track with the syllabus. his tests are ALL writing and there is a huge paper about the crusades due half way through the year. this class was so boring and i always had a hard time staying awake. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE I CARE ABOUT!
His class pretty much sucks. Lectures are boring and he is demeaning to students when they don't know answers. His lectures have nothing to do with the readings. The reading are random. His test are half lecture and half reading. So you are only really prepared for half of the test because the readings never get discussed Find a different professor
Don't take him! Unless you know your history then I DO NOT recommend him. Lectures seem unrelated to any assigned reading. He can get off subject and grades hard. Lectures were boring and my favorite part of this class was the two weeks he was out & we had videos to watch.
Teaches 200 level like it's 3 or 400. Very harsh grading, yet unclear about requirements. I would NOT recommend this course. At all. Lots of stress and very little learning.
I don't know why this guy is still teaching. Completely useless as an instructor, extremely rude to his students, and entirely unreasonable in his expectations. I've never truly hated a class until this one.
Nice professor, make sure you stay on his good side, but is willing to help as long as you do the work you are supposed to do for his class, he also gives you opportunity for extra credit 4 times. I ended up with a solid B+ and that is without studying more than 2 hours for all three exams combined and about only 3 hours on a 6 page research paper with 13 sources
Okay, I'm not a fan of history and after this class I'm still not. There are 3 tests which overall aren't hard, and if u listen to him properly on his expectations. Take notes! The 6 page research paper SUCKS BUT though he makes out as though he's not..he's a nice grader. I got a D in one test and still pulled a solid B..read the books!!
Okay professor, pretty nice guy who takes the academic integrity to a whole new level. Not a hard class though, you go to class, listen, take notes, you really don't even have to study or work hard on the research paper to get a solid B like me.
awesome teacher. kind of all over the place but hes very helpful and its obvious that he loves teaching. he has great energy and is hilarious!! def take his class. theres no final just a take home essay. highly recommend.
Nice guy, but...Goes off on random tangents. Lectures are disorganized. Doesn't stick to the syllabus. I can't stand this class.
Prior to taking his Ancient Egyptian Medicine and Magical Practice class, I read previous comments and was a little apprehensive. But the man is absolutely fantastic! Although a little scatter brained at times, he is brilliant at what he does and encourages everyone to do well. As long as you pay attention, take good notes, & go to class, youre good
Genuinely hopes that students do well, but he goes off on tangents, is extremely difficult to follow, and expectations with readings and the essay are ridiculous. Try not to take him.
He's interested in the subject but he does go off on tangents and it can make class a little painful to get through. He doesn't give makeup exams so instead you have to write a paper, which is not fun. He has a good heart and wants you to succeed.
DO NOT TAKE. Completely irrelevant teacher, and if you have any questions, he will make you feel stupid for asking them. You must go to class or he'll kick you out after a certain number of absences. Does not respond to emails, and if you have a seriously good excuse for missing a class...he doesn't care. Lectures are irrelevant and uninteresting.
Seriously, DO NOT TAKE HIM. His lectures are useless and do not help you at all. He's extremely rude to his students and when it comes to attendance/leaving early he deducts points from your entire grade. He also deducts points if you use technology (phone/laptop). I honestly don't know why CofC hasn't fired him yet.
Wouldn't recommend at all. I am a history minor, and expected to gain some knowledge from this class. He is very well versed in the subject, but expects you to be as well. Lectures are impossible to follow--he goes off on tangents that are unrelated. Term paper, but you aren't allowed to use online sources or class notes...Wouldn't suggest at all
My least favorite professor in the history department. Honestly, the man cannot give a proper lecture to save his life. Random tangents and general disorganization made lectures an unendurable bore. If you need a history, take anyone but him (I particularly like Bodek, Ryan, and Coates).
Lot of work and studying. LONG PAPER that requires like 2 books. Made a B. he can get distracted. I may have done better if i would have had time to study all the material- test on vocab and essay questions. good test set up- just be sure you have time to study for it & you can do good.
Lectures are very boring. If it's a large class he makes tests a take home which is nice but they are really long. There is also an absurd paper that requires a ton of reading. It's a lot of work. Not a good history professor especially if you don't like history.
DO NOT TAKE AT ANY COST
He's a really nice guy if you go to his office hours. He's extremely well versed on the subject but he expects you to know just as much. He's brilliant but his lectures on unclear and he goes off on tangents that had nothing to do with the readings. For his term paper you aren't allowed to use class notes or the internet. Attendance is mandatory.
He expects people to know basically everything he does. Makes the class feel very inferior if we do not know certain words he deems as "college level". Treats the class as if we were still in high school, however he claims constantly that he is like that because that is how the real world is. This class is a waste of your money, DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!
He's really not that bad. Heavy reading is required and he expects you to participate in class discussion. He does go off on tangents, but truly loves what he's teaching. Our test was a take home (or else I would have failed) but he's a fair grader and wants you to pass but you have to show effort. I strongly suggest going to his office.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. IT WILL RUIN YOUR SEMESTER!!!
Dr. Piccione is the real deal, an Oriental Institute trained Egyptologist. He is incredibly intelligent, with a depth and wealth of knowledge, but also very generous and fun to be around. For students with an interest in the Ancient Near East or Egypt, his courses are an amazing opportunity. Without a doubt the highlight of my time at the College.
Class can be overwhelming, but all my tests where take home and a crossword puzzle. If you go to him for help he will give you all you need to pass the class. Even if you never do any of the readings you can find all the information for when the take home tests come along.
Piccione really loves what he's teaching. He's a funny guy but his class is suffocating if you don't enjoy history very much. Our class only had two test and a paper in our grade book and he is a hard ass! Tests are taking home, but most people average a B or C on them. The paper isn't too bad, but it is time consuming. He offers extra credit.
He's confusing, his course's are confused. He never kept up with anything. He was rude, and unkind. He wanted you to read tons of stuff, but then he never mentioned it again. He hates cellphones, laptops, iPads, he will deducted points off your final grade if he see's him. It's a boring paper a pencil type of class.
I took this class for a final humanities credit- History isn't my strong suit. Gives extra credit for perfect attendance and a couple EC assignments. Tests were all take-home and ALL questions were from the readings. Term paper was a pain but doable. Fair grader- if you work for it, you'll do well. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS, he appreciates the effort
All of his tests are take home, but when I took him he kept forgetting to even give us tests so we only ended up having one grade, a huge term paper. His lectures are long and boring, he goes on rants about irrelevant things, and the information he talks about is useless. Don't even bother trying to email him or go to his office hours, he is gone.
Horrible, DO NOT TAKE HIM, he is lazy and believes "it is not his job to teach,he is just a guide." He was too lazy to give the online tests, so our only grade was a research paper, and even if you write and cite everything how according to his examples, he claims it is wrong. During class all you "learn" about is his ego.
I took Piccione for Pre-modern history 115 and it was awful! In the syllabus it outlined 3 take home assignments that were to be given throughout the course of the semester however these were never sent out. This gave our class only 2-3 grades for the ENTIRE semester, one being a huge paper on material that was never lectured on.
Most stressful class I have taken. He expects a lot from his class that we simply do not have (ie, we are not egyptologists). Need to do a paper that requires a lot of research. Will say that he is very enthusiastic and I learned a lot. At the same time, do not take this class. Just don't.
Read, go to class, and go to his office hours. I got a B+, and that was all I did. It's not rocket science, just actually try.
Very enthusiastic and intellectual guy. May not be the best teacher, has good days and bad days in terms of teaching. Very scattered brained and writes little "notes" all over the class. If you are an A+ or B+ student then an okay professor to take. WARNING: If you are not good student, then DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR. READING^
He might be a little scatter brained but he is very smart and if you put in just a little effort you'll be fine. He's really helpful if you go to him and he's very nice. He's a fair grader and he gives extra credit.
Lectures way too much, don't take a 3 hour 1 day a week class and have him as a professor. Never lets you out early (even if its 3 hours) and its midterm week and we still haven't gotten a single grade. We have done 3 papers and he hasn't graded a single one. Lectures so much and goes on random tangents about stupid stuff. Would not recommend.
I couldn't stand this professor. Saw him the other day and made sure not to hold the door for him.
I want to be thrilled that I get to take a class from one of the leading Egyptologists in the world, but he honestly needs to stay in the pyramids and out of the classroom. He's terribly disorganized, late every day, and don't dare ask him a question because he'll go on tangents until you're weeks behind in the syllabus. Nice guy, awful professor.
He means really well and people misunderstand him. He loves to teach people and you can tell he has a lot of knowledge, he just doesn't like to teach with the syllabus, that is all. You barley have any grades and he is an easy grader. I think over-all he is a good teacher and means well, just isn't good when it comes to syllabus teaching
Lectures are long and boring, emphasis very long and very boring. No tests which is nice but the assignments are nearly impossible to get good grades on and the research paper is incredibly difficult and instructions are not clear
Lectures are very long, but he's full of knowledge and loves to talk (a bit too much). Once you figure out what he wants, then he is a pretty easy grader. Just make sure that you're willing to put the time into his classes, and you'll be fine.
Professor Piccione is a great teacher, people just misunderstand him. If you put the time into the class and go to his office hours you will more than likely get a good grade in the class.
Professor Piccione is very smart but his lectures are super long. The first assignments you turn in you will feel super discouraged but if you put in the effort to go to class and talk to him he will make note of it. All assignments are take-home but that does not mean easy A.
He was pretty lecture heavy, but you only have four grades and three of them are easy As if you follow instructions. None of the assignments are done in class and if you like pre-modern history it is really insightful and fun. He can be old-fashioned and no tech allowed, but other than that it was an easy class.
I'm not even done with this class, I'm five weeks in and I can't stand it. This man goes off on random tangents and I literally I have no idea how he plans to relate it to what we're supposed to know for the course. I never know what's going on and it just doesn't seem like there's a big picture we're working towards he is just talking to himself.
Professor Piccione was my professor freshman year. I dont remember my grade in the class, but I enjoyed it enough that I continued to take more history classes at the College as electives. When deciding on a major, I thought about the class that most inspired me, and it was Picciones. He is passionate about what he does, especially Egyptology.
Piccione is a great guy; he's funny and he means well and plays cool music. But often he will go off on tangents that are not relevant to the topic, and his lectures have no format. I like history, but I never felt like we were learning anything through the lectures. There are a couple of major paper assignments, though the final paper counts most.
Dr. Piccione is very passionate about ancient history, and I respect that, but his method of teaching is disorganized, nonsensical, and entirely ineffective. The lectures are not lectures. He's just talking to himself. It's a 100 level gen ed but he treats it like a more advanced class. Write the paper early and don't fall asleep, you'll be fine.
If you're a history major and you're looking to get a real solid intro to writing history papers and a 3-week mini-lesson on how to be a historian, take Piccione! If not, even if you like history as I do, Piccione is not worth it. His assignments are too much for a 100-level class and he doesn't do nearly enough to explain them. For real, y'all.
Took for a GE history credit for Fall 2018. Easy class & I would take it again due to the lack of assignments. Although the class is very boring and you aren't allowed on your phone or computer, just stay awake. I wish all of my classes were like this one, 1 take home test & 3 easy papers. I am not a history person or good at writing & I did good.
Lack of direction, poor communication, expectations for assignments were unclear, very unorganized. We were constantly behind his schedule, and I felt as though I did not learn anything. This was a class about Ancient Egypt; I learned more about the Assyrians and the Hyksos than them. Really funny guy, but the class was a huge frustration.
Professor Piccione is extremely intelligent. His lectures are very interesting and contain a lot of information. He teaches history in a way I have never been taught before and I enjoyed it a lot. He comes off as very strict at first but eases up and is very pleasant. His class is pretty simple, just do the work. and its an easy A.
Can be a little snarky sometimes but I think it is just part of his humor. Lectures sometimes feel like he's just talking to himself. He takes roll so be sure to attend. However, assignments are super easy and there aren't that many.
Piccione is very passionate about what he teaches but is not good at explaining or pacing himself. I cannot say I learned much from him at all but he is a nice man who doesn't ask a lot from you. This class is not hard and you are unlikely to fail. (3 writing assignments, 1 video assignment).
Very old-fashioned professor who is anti-technology. Lectures consist of him talking to himself and you *trying* to take notes with no other media. Only graded on 4 papers, received the grades a week after the class ended (keep in mind the withdrawal date was a month into the class so we didn't know our standing until it was too late).
As someone who is bad at history, I can say this class is extremely easy. Teacher just lectures the whole time and I honestly just do other homework during class. There are very few assignments but all a very easy A. He is a very nice guy and is really funny. Attendance is required for your grade. Overall very very easy class.
Piccione is awesome and I wish I had known it from the get-go. I stressed myself out the first half of class because he seems like he is super hard on grading, when in reality he is just a sweet old man. I definitely recommend going to his office hours to make sure you're on the right track. He isn't as hard as he makes himself seem. Great guy!
We literally sat there every class and would watch him talk to no on the whole time. Everyone was on their computers doing nothing. There was like 3 assignments the whole semester. We didn't do anything. Do extra credit. Do not go on your phone.
He is very lecture heavy, but will go on long tangents about topics that don't mean anything to the subject matter. His class this semester was graded by 3 assignments, but he does offer extra credit with every assignment. Just don't have your phone or he'll take points off your final grade.
Not even done with this class and he is the most unprepared professor I've had. Want your grades from months ago? He hasn't graded them. Want to email him? Doesn't respond to anything. I have no grades in this class and midterms are over. He is a cool person but a terrible professor. Not to mention the longest lectures with no substance. Dont do it
terrible class, ended up ok grade wise but it was just rough. great guy in person but to take his class it isn't worth the stress and trouble. always received grades late.
Overall not a difficult class, but not worth the hassle. He has dumb rules like points off your final grade for phone usage and prohibiting students from leaving class to use the restroom. We only had three assignments, which were not hard, but he took a while to grade them. Attendance is also taken in every class.
Save yourself and DO NOT take his class. He won't let you use the bathroom and if you do you get 3 points off your final grade (can't be legal) He makes rude comments while grading your work and is very passive aggressive. He goes off on tangents and never stays on the topic of the lessons. Only good thing is limited work.
Peter Piccione is overall a nice man with good intentions. However, he is honestly not a good instructor. He doesn't teach in a way that's understandable to students and often goes off-topic. He harshly grades work and is pretty rude about it too. He also doesn't let you go to the bathroom. Fairly easy class, but not worth having to deal with him.
Very all over the place in his lectures and I wouldn't recommend taking his classes without already having a basis of knowledge on the topic. Despite this, he was entertaining.
Piccione's lectures can be disorganized, but the assignments are manageable. Staying engaged and using resources like Unstuck ai for study prep can make this a doable class.
This class was very easy. There were only four assignments the whole semester which he grades leniently and there are no quizzes/exams. I definitely recommend taking this class for that reason. Professor Piccione was a decent professor but has long lectures and took/grades attendance everyday.
You have 4 assignments and no exams, with two of those having little to no relevance to what was actually discussed. So, I came away feeling worthless about sitting through lectures--that were required--but essentially did not matter. If you are prone to stress, don't bother signing up. It was easy, sure, but not fulfilling in the slightest.
Was it easy? yes. Was it worth it? NO. Take any other prof., any other history class. One class it hit me that I paid to be there and I was just disappointed in myself. I should've listened to the warnings. Take something that is worth your time and money. If you're left with no choice, I send my thoughts and prayers.
Piccione is a sweet man who cares about his job and history, but you are not going to learn in here. His class was easy, but I felt I wasted my time every time I came in here. He doesn't conduct a final exam, but a final paper and you'll do about 4/5 assignments in total. Don't be scared you can power through but there are better classes here.
I got an A in this class because there were four assignments and he graded easily. I wouldn't recommend his class if you actually want to learn history. I took this for a Gen Ed credit, but history majors do not take his classes; he must retire. He's a very sweet man, but doesn't know how to teach to save his life.
Not even finished with his class and already hate it. His lectures make no sense. Currently doing his essay, and it feels impossible. Still hasn't graded my other assignments either. He is also never on task during lectures and gets mad when we go to the bathroom, and God forbid, do not let a phone go off during his class.
Attendance is counted in your grade but you get extra credit if you attend every class. He's super sweet but his lectures make NO sense don't bother taking notes. There's no tests just video and writing assignments, you don't need to do the readings or buy the book. I used his class as a study hall and there's minal homework.
An extremely easy class but feels like the biggest waste of time when you are there. Can't remember one thing from class the whole semester.
Not many assignments - but is a really tough grader on the few that he gives you so it's tough to get a good grade unfortunately. Doesn't give good grading feedback at all.
He's a good professor when it comes to the work but not the lectures. They're boring and long and I never paid attention to any of them and still did my papers fine. Only 2 papers if you get as far as we got and i think 3 video lessons. Overall not a hard class just hard to stay awake in.
