He is a really funny guy. His lectures are long, but also interesting. He tells you exactly what you need to know for his test. I strongly recommend him.

This is a hard class in general, but if you put in the time and effort to study it should be easy. Tests for lecture come directly off of the notes you print out off of blackboard and lab tests he gives you handouts to study for everything except the first Lab test. Overall he is a good teacher and very helpful and willing to answer questions.

I had Dr. Porter for bio180 and 181. he is overall a good teacher and knows what he is teaching. the notes for the class are good, the lab tests are not to bad, the lecture tests are a bit harder but not unreasonable if study.

his lecture exams are IMPOSSIBLE to pass. he words them so diffuclt to the point that everything you studied makes no sense. the lab praticals are from memory and have to be spelled correctly. on the plus side you do learn alot and hes very entertaining. if your going into the medical field and want knowledge over an easy A, take him!

I took 180 with a different teacher and failed bc the tests were impossible and every single part needed to be identified, but Porter really helps you understand the material, Lab practicals are fairly easy provided you study and the same with the lecture exam its all from the notes! I had Mr.porter this semester. I ended up dropping the class because i had a packed schedule and was not ready for this class b/c i had not taken bio before it. He is truly an awesome teacher. This is your ideal teacher. His class is very hard and takes a lot of work on your part, but Porter is rooting for you! You can tell he loves what he does and is very into the class. His grading is very strict - you earn your grade. Awesome classroom experience.. just be ready to work really hard!

First and foremost, his tests are extremely hard! But if you study the lecture notes and lab notes, you will do great in his class. I'm not sure why people are saying he doesn't offer extra credit, because he did for Spring semester 2010. He is very passionate about what he does, and I think that's important in an instructor.

Dr. Porter, or as I like to call him, "The Nutty Profesor," is one of the coolest teachers I ever had. His teaching style reminds me of something from the Furnance on 512 College Street. No one, and I mean no one, knows Biology like Dr. Porter does. Besides teaching, he has awesome skills with knun-chucks, Elvis inpersonations, and brewing beer!

I took the condensed 3 week summer class. Very in depth hard class. Dr. Porter made the subject interesting and made clear what information to study. Be prepared to study a few hours a day. No time for any other class. Lecture tests are very difficult. Read the material. Lab exams all fill in the blank. You do learn a lot, overall a great teacher.

TOUGH teacher, but you really learn. Your entire grade is based only on tests: lecture exams and lab practicals. The only way to pass lecture exams is to memorize EVERY detail on his long power points. When I started doing that, the highest grade I got on lecure was a B. No homework, study guides, or assignments to help you prepare. Study hard!

He really cares about the subject and puts so much enthusiasm into what hes talking about that it made me WANT to listen and learn it! The practicals are easy if you just really study the material. What you put into this class is what you will get out of it. Study the lecture slides for the exams to the point of memorization and you'll be fine.

Took him for the 3 week and 4 week accelerated class for BIO 180 and 181. Explains everything clearly and tells you exactly what you need to know for lab practicals. I took BIO 180 with an "easy" teacher who only had MC type exams. Problem was he what he lectured, what he handed out and what was on the exam were all different! Dr. Porter is not like that. Yes its hard but when his done explaining it makes so much sense. He walks you through everything! He teaches you what you need to know!

I couldn't have asked for a better Biology teacher. He knows and loves what he's doing and beats you in the head with the material to make sure you understand it. Attendance is mandatory, but with so many easy points from the labs, it's worth going. Take the time to do the objectives and go to lab and you'll ace it.

Ok, first of all anatomy is hard. You have to go to class, you have to study, you have to work at it. This is not one of those easy classes you can just sit back and get a decent grade. Porter is just a really good teacher. If you don't get at least a B in this class you really weren't trying. He doesn't play an tricks like some teachers do.

Dr. Porter is AWESOME! Took him this summer in an accelerated course. All 15 weeks taught in only 3 weeks. At first I was really nervous, but after a couple days I realized that it wasn't even bad! His examples help you understand whats going on, and you can tell he loves teaching this subject. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Professor Porter is a great professor. Lectures are very clear. All his exams are from his power points he post on blackboard. No book needed! Just memorize his power point and you'll be fine. If you ever have a question, he answers it very clearly. 2 online open note quizzes and 15 point extra credit quiz.

Peter Porter is an asset to the faculty at MVCC. He makes a very important but boring subject fun and unique. His lectures are anything but boring. The Lecture exams are tough but fair. They will show if your diligent as you should be. The Clinical exams are nerve racking, but overall pretty easy. They can help you gain points lost on lecture.

Don't get me wrong, Porter loves what he does but when it comes to helping you out on a personal level he is anything but great. Asked for lenience on attendance and he was very mean and cold. His tests are extremely hard and I have always been an A/B student. Do not expect to take his class and pass with a high grade.

anatomy is hard in general so dont miss class or youll miss valuable info. good teacher, tries to make it fun and is very clear. anatomy 2 was easier for me so i did not need to study as much as i did for anatomy 1 but still you need to try in order to pass. exams and practicals as well as 2 quizzes in grade book and extra credit.

Dr. Porter is one of the top three instructors I have ever had. Although I took the hybrid version of BIO180, his teaching style shined through in the videos. He also made the four hour lab informative and bearable. In one word, he is fair. His tests are challenging but not designed to trick you. He wants you to succeed and be prepared.

He is very helpful and to the point. He gives alot of lab time for studying. UTILIZE this time and go over the structures. BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD AT MORAINE.

Just study/memorize ALL his ppt slides for the exams and you'll pass his class with an A. If he doesn't lecture on a chapter, he'll post an open note quiz online where you'll need the textbook. He's not big on extra credit, there was only one open note extra credit quiz on canvas (worth 10.2pts) . Hope this helps.

His class was very straightforward; study powerpoint easy A and same goes for the practicals. Gives only 10 extra credit points. Everyone should take this guy because he genuinely cares and wants whats best for his students plus he gives really good advice. And with all the knowledge he has he's very humble about it making him kinda hot.

I took the A&P Hybrid course with Porter & he was GREAT. Very straight forward in what you need to focus on. His videos cover everything you need to know on exams. However, you will need to put the time & effort in if you want to pass, this is not an easy A but that is because of the material not the teacher. It is mostly memorization.

Great professor, I just dont like how you pay for a class and are told to not go on ur phone at all and that attendance is mandatory or hell drop a letter grade or fail is after 3 absences. We pay for the class not him.

One of the best professors I have taken. He does teach a lot and there is a lot of studying involved so don't think its the easiest A. But his story makes sense and most importantly doesn't make you feel stupid feel stupid for asking questions!! (plus he does not make you suffer way too much compared to other prof. and relates to you)

Since I took his class online, I watched the lecture videos as many times as I wanted. If you take him in person, pay very close attention! I'm assuming he's as good in person as online. Only graded on 7 tests and 1 open note quiz.

FANTASTIC PROFESSOR. What he tests you on is all in his lectures!! You don't need to go hunting through a ton of other books and material! I had a previous BIO teacher who had stuff in a ton of different books and online sources. Dr. Porter keeps it simple and his lectures are very clear and make it easy to learn. Really good professor, his slides are straight to the point, test questions are literally the info that the slides contain. For lab tests, you can study the structures till the end of class, also very clear and organized, don't study until the day before the exam. The slides are heavy packed, give yourself a good 5 days to study and memorize it.

He is was a RN so knows his stuff. Has a gift for teaching. Can teach bio 181 to kindergarteners and they'll be ready to perform cardiovascular surgery upon leaving the classroom.

You can tell Professor Porter really cares for his students. This class is difficult and I think he did a good job with helping us understand the lecture/lab materials. You really have to study for the exams because that is all your grade consists of, which was the only thing that I hated about his class. Overall, I would recommend taking him!

This class was so enjoyable! idk why there aren't any ratings for his CAN class yet but this was the best class I've taken at Moraine.He provided so much extra info for those of us looking to further our knowledge in cannabis.There are 3 quizzes and a final, all the answers are given to u from the lecture videos which he gives points for watching!

Professor Porter is amazing!! Hes super awesome and friendly. This class is easy as long as you study. If you do not study you will fail. The library has all the models you will be tested on so definitely go. The class is super fun.

The best A&P professor that I've ever had! Dr. Porter is an amazing professor to learn from. Although A&P is a notoriously hard subject, he takes the time to modify and personalize the lecture notes so that it is a bit simple and it doesn't overwhelm you. Being attentive is crucial to pass this course.

Professor Porter is the best professor I have had at Moraine. I struggle with understanding anatomy and he makes it clear and easy. he gives multiple examples/ ways ti learn. Pay attention in class because his lectures are helpful and resemble e the test very closely. 100% I would take Porter again, I strongly recommend.

I took Porter for Anatomy 1 and 2 and he was one of the best professors I have ever taken. He is tough but that is only because he wants you to actually learn the material and remember it for when you enter nursing or any medical related career. If you pay attention in class, spend time understanding the power points, and study you will pass.

Mr. Porter is such a cool guy and I really loved all the assignments for this course. Very easy grader and is always giving positive feedback. If you're interested in this class take it! There are very interesting lectures and very few readings!

Professor Porter is such a nice and cool teacher, his lectures can be long but he makes them entertaining and he posts the lecture videos on canvas. Everything you need to know are on his PowerPoints, and he has no other assignments besides the exams. I would definitely take this professor again!

Porter hands down is one of the best A&P teachers Ive ever taken. I have tried multiple and he is the best out of all of them. When he lectures he is right to the point on only information you need. He writes his own exams and they are very straight forward/kinda easy. If you study his PowerPoints you will be fine. I wish I took him for A&P 1.

Professor Porter's BIO181 class is challenging but rewarding. His lectures are engaging and align closely with the exams. To succeed, stay focused, utilize the textbook, and try out unstuck AI for study prep. Overall, I'd recommend this class for students interested in nursing or the medical field.

Professor porter is the best professor ive ever taken. Hes caring and well educated on everything he talks about. He has no problem helping since it is a very tough course. Ask questions hes always willing to answer and study and take notes. The lectures are long for the class but he makes them good.

Mr.Porter is really passionate about anatomy and teaching. He even went through nursing school for the sole purpose of being able to better teach his students, since a lot of us are going into nursing. If you study his powerpoints until you know all of the information like the back of your hand, you're guaranteed to get an A on lecture exams

Currently taking 181 with this professor and he is genuinely one of the best professors I've ever taken. He is intentional with his teaching and wants all of his students to succeed. If you pay attention in class and take the time to study outside of class you will do just fine. FYI the only grades are 4 exams, 3 lab tests and some EC.

AMAZING professor. He gives you everything you need for the lab exams. Those are easy As. Lecture exams require you to study a lot but it is doable. He makes everything as simple as he possibly can. Has a great way of explaining concepts thoroughly. This is an anatomy class though so you have to study a lot. Best tip: study way in advance!

Genuinely the best professor ever. He explains everything very well and makes the class interesting. Breaks things down in a way that clicks and repeats enough times that it actually sticks to your mind. He tells you exactly what you need to know, so full marks are totally doable. Passionate and knows what he's doing. Best Bio teacher ever!

Professor Porter is one of the best professors I have had at MVCC. I took his bio180 and 181 class hybrid and 181 accelerated and Professor Porter teaching style remains my favorite. I recommend him for both anatomy courses

The BEST ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY PROFESSOR.

My favorite anatomy professor ever. Lectures were great. Anything in lectures is always fair game on the exam. Lab exams are easy As. Study EVERYTHING and study days if not weeks in advance and you will do great! Love him and highly recommend!

I cannot stress this enough, just take him. I took it over the summer and it was so fun. His lectures are phenomenal and easy to understand. His labs are easy. He makes anatomy so much fun and very interesting. I have never heard anyone complain about him. He is super sweet and wants us to succeed. The most caring professor on campus hands down !!

Make sure you study well because the exams can be difficult; some questions are worth more than others and a few are clinical scenarios. We had a total of 4 exams and 2 labs practicals, no homework. Don't recommend if you have a heavy course load. If you're looking for an easy A, this isn't it. Only students that work hard will pass.
