Peter is a nice guy which reflects the comments below-as an instructor he blows!
Nice Guy. Bad prof-way to left wing!!
A very intelligent, entertaining, and thought provoking teacher. Wonderful.
Great class. Not easy, but worth the $150 or so. Opens the eyes...
Really nice guy, but out in LEFT field. Easy marker for 1160 but not poli econ.
great prof, best prof at langara
Not open to any ideas that stray from the left.
Peter is a nice guy.I found that he really didn't teach me anything though. Less critical analysis of left's work(which would certainly raise the level of discussion in leftist circles)than I was hoping for. less cheerleading-more critical thinking please
Great teacher and easy marker
Great Professor, very Left, but interesting lectures
This guy is on the left of Marx himself! I voted for Campbell so go figure my political view! Curley hair is not hot!

Great prof! Very left in views, but if you're ok with that, then you should definitely take a course with him. Great at answering any questions, always in good mood, and knows his stuff inside out!
10 thumbs up to Prontzos and his amazing ability to learn everyone's name in his larger than average class. Most inspiring teacher i've had in due to his sensitivity and compassion reagarding issues that matter.

Karl Marx... Oh sorry I mean Prontzos makes it very clear that Socialism is good. I feel Marx, oops... Prontzos, I feel Prontzos is not very open to the right side even though he tries to be. If you dont beleive in socialism or cant prented you do, run!
Great Prof! Very enthusiastic and passionate. Try a lil bit and you'll get an A on the exams and on the paper!!
I diagree, I consider myself to be on the right side of the political spectrum yet was able to enjoy and appreciate this course thoroughly. I think pete's an EXCELLENT professor, relatively easy marker, very helpful and always in a good mood..hes cute too
This Prof is one of the best I have ever had. His lectures are fun and clear. Lots of interaction in class. He's a very NICE person.Very helpful and friendly. I loved his class and I recomment him to anyone interested in POLI SCI. Overall an easy-marker.
Never once showed up on time for class, was even late for the final but he made up for it with his marking, always fair as long as you put in the effort. Tends to go very far off topic in class but it's usually interesting. Great speaker!
This guy is a bloody liberal. Nothing radical about him. Has a very traditional veiwpoint ie. workers first, and racism feminism is secondary.
AMAZING prof!Very helpful and friendly, and as long as you put in a little effort, you'll get good grades.Lectures are interesting and very clear and helpful, always willing to answer questions.4 quizes(easy),a paper, midterm and final.Highly recommend him
Very good teacher. Definitely a Lefty; that's ok because what is really 'right' about the Right, besides the name, anyways? He helps inform the next generation of important issues which can only help everyone in the long run.
Best. Teacher. Ever. Great lecturer, I rarely had an opportunity to yawn. 4 simple quizzes and a paper, easy enough if you put in the effort. Learn up on Sandismo and your in like Flynn. Even though he was late to every class...I knew he cared.
Such a nice guy, the atmosphere of his class is always positive. very fun but could be a little more interactive.
If you do your readings your set. Great lecturer, answers questions in class, good guest speekers. Go on Fridays, it's the only day he does attendance.
Peter is an earnest guy, though not very organized at all. Lectures go off topic constantly, and do not usually illuminate course conntent. Copious discussion of the US and Iraq. Found him to be a very hard marker. Knows lots about economic democracy and how it could/should work.
Goes off topic quite a bit, but the information he presents is interesting nonetheless. Prepares students for the midterm and final by giving possible essay questions in advance, but the multiple choice questions are usually a bit of a guessing game. He's a fair marker and damn goodlooking.

Very friendly guy.Yes he often goes off topic, but when he does the information is great as he is a very informed prof.Gives potential questions for quizzes and midterms and is a very easy marker because he does all the rationalizing for you while marking! One of Langaras best profs.Hardcore leftist

has one idea and that's his own, nice guy but i find his views to be one sided.. too bad... BIG TIME LEFTISIT
Great teacher, one of my favourite classes ever. Even if you are not into Political Science I highly recommend his class. He is interesting, passionate and brilliant.
He is a great teacher! He makes every points very clear, makes you learn. But keep in mind he is leftish.
Good Professor and nice person too. Just to let you know, I have yet to meet a Langara Professor that is not on the left politically. Since he is teaching Political Science then of course his preference will come through. It does not take away from the course. If anything he is anti-USA (Bush)lol.
awesome prof! i never used to be into poli sci before taking his class but now it's one of my favorite interests. he's leftist sure, but who gives a crap. highly recommended
Very passionate and engaged teacher. Lots of speakers and current events. I agree the atmosphere at Langara is very leftist, maybe even a bit stifling, but he is a wnderful teacher.
Only take this class if you are willing to spend 4 hour a week listening to lectures that always break down into a discussion of all the negatives of North American society. I found it a bit depressing. On the other hand, it was very informative about the ideologies.
great teacher, very helpful and cares about his students, intellectual, classes are ok, multiple choice quizzes, and generally wants students to do well, recommend his course.
The classes tended to go a little off topic often; however, they were still quite informative. He always backs up his assertions. And is fair and equitable regardless of your political prefrences. All in all I recomend taking a course with him.
He's the best teacher I've had at Langara. He's very passionate and thought-engaging. He brings in everyday events to the readings and makes you connect the dots. Fair marker. Very nice, will take the time to know you. Yes, he's leftist, but more importantly, he makes politics and ideologies interesting.
Peter is a great guy, but he is extremely biased. Most classes are spent listening to conspiracy theories, or general leftist criticism of the policies of the United States. His Reader contains several letters that he himself have sent to newspapers containing his ideas (read these, you will be quizzed on them).
He's very intelligent and opinionated; sometimes speeds through some issues and over-explicates others.
Excellent teacher, fair, but leftish & biased, everyone must take a course with him, he's a really nice guy and excellent proffesor; his course was a little bit depressive, sick and sad world must be the name instead of international political economy. Do not leave the opportunity of taking a course with this guy.
Great guy. Very nice personality, fair marker. Unbelievably in our last class we learned he had actually been a US marine for 2 years.
WOW! An awsome course and an awsome prof. Considering he was born in the U.S and a former Marine, he really hates the U.S and its policies. You have to take a class with him. Make sure to always read the reader and be really careful during the quizes because his quizes are really tricky. U will be on his good side if you see him in office hours
Peter really is a fascinating person with a wealth of knowledge, which makes showing up to class worthwhile -- but not necessary. In order to succeed, focus mainly on the readings and show up for evaluations. The class, while fascinating and insightful, tends to follow the readings closely with tangential personal stories and information thrown in.
He's a pretty easy marker as far as exams and midterms go, but he gives papers to a TA to mark which makes his feedback useless. As a plus, he isnt at all bad looking!
A socialist. Late to every class. Grading is not so difficult. If you are a commerce major or favor capitalism, don't take his class. He over emphasizes the criticisms of capitalism, and the positive elements of socialism. He tries to be fair, but his political view comes out very clear. Not a bad guy though.
Exceptional lecturing ability and very reasonable and engaging. Does not provide enough time for quizzes as they are at the end of class. Ten minutes was not enough time for many in the class. Overall, an instructor I would pay my money to be taught by.

Prontzos is a great lecturer. If I had taken his class sooner I would have studied more Political Science.
Prontzos is a good lecturer: clear, succinct and passionate (about Poli Sci anyway). He's also very friendly and WILLING to help (when you approach him), but not actually helpful. He doesn't bother to write any feedback on his exams - squiggly lines don't tell us much! He leaves the forum open for questions, but his exam expectaions are unclear.
Great Prof. Took 3 classes and enjoyed all of them!
A fantastic instructor. I took three courses and found each one of them interesting and engaging. He is extremely helpful and will even go out of his way to look at essays before they're due. Easy marker, but if you don't mind a biased left leaning instructor than take his courses. A true genuine and sincere instructor who cares about his students.
He's the best. bar none... anyone who doesnt like him is either an idiot or a free market capitalist.
Good prof, but as said, he favours socialism to the point where his bias limits his ability to be fair, balanced and objective. Overall, still good to listen to and is engaging and highly intelligent.
excellent, friendly, smart professor
he is the best teacher I ve ever had at langara. I learned sooo much his classes and he is very helpful
Not as deadly as I thought a 3hr Polisci lecture would be. Definitely a left-leaning socialist who's not into Bush and American policies at all (but reasonably and honestly so). Great at facilitating claas discussion; try to participate and contribute a bit; you'll get out of the class what you put into it. Really caring and helpful; willing to make time to see you.
Not just a great prof, a great person. A overall happy guy who cares about the students. He trusts you and therefore is lenient on certain situations. His trust and overall non-judgmental attitude towards students make his students want to be better people. Thank you Peter for sparking an interest in Political Science.
Peter is awesome!! His class is fun, he is a wealth of knowledge, he is so interesting to listen to and his class is fun. I didn't even like politcal science before I took this class. If you listen and read the text then exams are straight forward.

Amazing brilliant person. Awesome teacher. very easy and will teach u so much! =D take his classes if you can.
Great teacher. Attending class will help with the material. Bias but is open minded and won't put you don't for arguing. He really cares about his students.
I can't say enough good things about Peter. He is passionate about what he teaches and it shows, in fact it's contagious. Open minded to other views, encouraging, and fair. An amazing prof, Langara is lucky to have a teacher like him. An exemplary human being as well, I've never had a prof that I liked more, EVER! Thanks for the inspiration Peter!
Peter is a very very nice guy! He is an overall happy person, and his happiness projects every time he steps into the classroom. His lectures are ambiguous, as his teachings are from a leftist perspective, but still the material is very interresting. Key to success in the class is to attend each class - easy marks then! GREAT GUY!
He gave me my first A-paper ever!
Nice guy; save the world type. His heart is in the right place. Some prior knowledge would be helpful, otherwise a good class to take.
Just amazing, fun, cool, funny what a great guy
He gives very interesting lectures and makes poli sci fascinating. He doesn't provide any notes so it's best to listen to what he says and write them down. An overall really nice guy
Awesome Prof! First time ever taking Poli and I loved it thanks to him, great class discussions that feel like they are off topic but arent. At first I thought i was learning nothing but studying for the midterm realized what we discussed was relevant. Highly Recommended
Excellent and encouraging instructor, very nice man, he is so helpful, makes his classes really relevant. Take his class!!
Extremely nice man. Very reasonable and understanding. His class is very interesting, almost consist completely of class discussions, a great way to learn. Definitely one of the best profs I've had! TAKE HIM
Amazing prof! highly recommended!
kinda Bias, but refers to alot of academic scholars, very interesting points made and amazing class discussions, you definately learn alot from him and he pretty easy, but he does pick favorites so talk alot and smile. youll do well
Ayn Rand lovers beware, he's VERY biased towards socialism. But still tolerant of other views if you argue for them well. Its SO easy to get a good mark if you show up & pay attention! Very interesting discussions go on in class lectures and the quizzes are so flexible and easy. It's a real GPA booster, and you'll learn a lot. Highly recommended!
Amazing prof, enjoys teaching ,def one of the best profs at langara
good teacher for the subject, still found the class long (3 hours) and very dry. Did not really get a full understanding of the subject, would have liked more side by side comparisons and much more structure to the class, its always a bit of a mystery what is going to be talked about or how far the lecture will go.
Prof is excellent, unbiased for the most part but will take jabs at Bush once in a while. Has a great smile and will try to make the class enjoyable and will add humour when appropriate. Likes to cite interesting information from notable sources and connects the material you learned with the real world. Quiz + exams are based off course material.
Peter is a really nice guy. He answers e-mail really quickly so he's always available to help you.
Excellent professor. An easy A if you do all the readings. An excellent human being as well. Very left-wing thinking but most of his arguments are correct and are backed up with plenty of evidences. Highly recommended!
Peter is an extremely insightful person and a very good man. Is personally engaging and helps those with a real interest in the material and relevant issues to understand. Classes are discussions based off readings as starting point. Doing all the readings is absolutely crucial to understanding and doing well in the course. Replies to emails fast.
The readings are engaging and I broadened my world view. My one criticism is that the views presented are really only from one angle. While I do agree with Prontzos on a lot of issues, it would be perhaps more academic to have a broad understanding of the issues and to have a discussion of the merits of differing points of view. Great class!
He's super helpful, super nice and his class is super interesting. Best prof I have had. The course is interesting and he is very open to all questions and different opinions. Very clear and expectations are easy to meet if you do the readings and show up.
I found this class to be a bit dry at times (go through about 7 ideologies), due to the lengthy lecture, but I liked how Peter let the students discuss what they thought of certain ideologies. Discussions were engaging. He marks quite fair, especially on papers. He is a very kind prof, and he knows his stuff! Very pro activism + socialism.
Great teacher. Fair and has a good sense of humour. Left-wing guy. The textbook we used was pretty concise, and he assigned extra reading (which I mostly skipped). He gave us free range on our term paper and the exam was essay-based and he told us the topics ahead of time.
Fantastic professor. Taking him again for POLI 2260. Lectures in POLI 1120 can run long but learned a lot and lots of class discussion. A very kind, interesting guy
Great prof - explains everything very well. Encourages class discussion - sometimes it goes off-topic. Tries to let everyone say things so if you've already spoken you won't get priority (and he might ignore you). Wasnt clear in expectations for midterm (length/depth) Keep up with readings, attend class and you will do fine. He is helpful if u ask
One of the best instructors I've ever had and a very very nice man. Pay close attention to what he draws attention to and you will do well.
AWESOME PROF! Thought he was going to be really difficult, but one of my favourite profs at Langara. Very good sense of humour, engages class in the material, class discussion encouraged, very approachable in office hours, replies to emails quickly, just an overall nice and awesome guy!
Yes, he's a nice guy, but he's more interested in sharing his worldview (a view I happen to agree with) than in teaching the subject or helping students develop. Provides no feedback on the mid-term essay exams and minimal feedback on the paper. Often has his "back in 10 minutes" sign out during office hours. Text book is dry, dense and outdated.
Peter is clear and approachable, the class is discussion based so it makes the time pass a lot faster. I think I'm much father left than this guy, I'm surprised by the comments! He is very old, not very attractive, I think he got that chilly pepper a loong time ago. Be sure to do the readings, quizzes will boost your mark, always use references in your exam! Will offer extensions for just about any reason. He sometimes goes on tangents.
Peter is probably the best prof i have ever had. His readings are extremely interesting and he is the most helpful prof ever. his class discussions are always interesting too. he really changed my life from the things that he taught us. highly recommend taking a class with him if you can
Great professor...extremely helpful, we would go above & beyond to accommodate students. I really enjoyed his class. Peter would see you during office hours and make you feel like you are hanging with a friend. One of the best professor I've had in college. GO FOR THIS CLASS...GPA BOOSTER!
Peter is an excellent teacher, very personable and he actually made politics interesting for me, which I didn't think would be possible.. I definitely recommend his class, he is very passionate about his role...
Students participate in class most of the time because this professor makes the lectures worth learning from.
Peter is an awesome prof. Taken two courses with him now, and he makes something boring to learn (for me anyways) interesting. The guy speaks the truth on how our world really works. Did y'all know he ran for MP twice.
He is very approachable and very helpful. In lectures he is very accommodating, unfortunately some people take advantage of it and go on and on about unrelated political opinions, I wish Mr. Prontzos would regulate more and stay on track. Overall a pretty good course.
This man...I have no words to express how sad I am that he is retiring from teaching for now. I hope to see more of him in academic circles. This political philosophy class was amazing, sure some "interesting" comrades participated in discussions, but Peter was respectful and super insightful. His class was a real treat!!
this was my favourite first year course at langara :) peter was very approachable and helpful when i needed to meet with him after class. would definitely recommend to first year students
His lectures are quite inspirational, he's very passionate about what he talks about and you can clearly see that. The problem I find in this specific course is that he goes about many different random topics with way too many readings and you end up getting lost along the way. You also need to read all the texts, his lectures alone won't do.
Professor Peter Prontzos is quite friendly and rather enthusastic about his "democratic" philosphies. By "democratic," I mean he would cancel the class if the majority of the students vote not to attend it. However, he does throw a few extra credits for those who attend his class regularly. All-in-all, if you read his materials, it's an easy course
Very inspirational guy. Thoroughly enjoyed the lectures. The class was not very difficult (for me anyway), I just found that you really need to read the materials and make use of his office hours if something is unclear. I think he is retiring so I'm happy I was able to have a semester with him.
He was a great professor. Too bad if you haven't had any chance to have a class with him. But no worries he said he'd be back soon.
Peter is a fantastic prof; in an age where so many people are uninformed about the world whether they went to college or not, Peter clearly has a read and studied from many great sources and is there to not just inform us on what really goes on in our world, but also create class discussions that are fun and engaging and express ones opinion freely
