Great teacher, very thorough. His tests are unusually difficult, plan on spending MANY hours per week studying and doing hw. Make sure you complete all work because a large percentage of his students don't pass (I know from experience).
he is a good teacher. Easy to understand and follow. Alot of homework, but if you keep up it will help on the tests. The tests are alot of work, so be prepared for that, but there are lots of opportunities for extra credit. Available for help when needed.
He is one of the best teacher to present a good lecture. The only problem, he is very demanding and he expects a lot in the exam. I recommed for any student to use the free tutoring. Overall I got an "A" and he offers extra credit.
If you can a handle a very monotone voice with very flamboyant phrases than he is the teacher for you. he is very easy but his voice is EXTREMELEY annoying. offers alot of extra credit, and alot of office hours. does not always go over what is going to be on exam.

goes too fast over new material, not willing to help students when needed.
I don't agree with some of the other comments. I do believe he's very demanding but i feel that he isn't a great teacher. Honestly, he is the type of teacher who would love to flat out fail you if he could. when you approach him with a question he's unhelpful.doesn't really care
I have mixed feelings. Generally a good teacher, can be amusing when he wants to be, but sometimes doesn't feel like being helpful. Overall he's okay
He's a pretty nice guy...The only problem is that I can't laugh at his jokes...It's really difficult for me to understand his jokes.
I think Rojas is actually a very good teacher. He covers a lot of stuff (quite quickly, though), is willing to help during and out of class, and most of all, he seems to enjoy teaching. His jokes can be a little cheesy but I think if people would loosen up they'd find his class a lot more enjoyable. Watch out for the homework, though.
I liked Rojas the first week because he used a lot of handouts and the class seemed to go by quickly also he seemed nice and funny. He turned out to be not very helpful or nice. He offered extra credit for visiting him in his office but when you got there he acted like he didn't like you or want to help you...i don't know...left a bad impression
I cant stand him, the first day or couple of days he seems very nice and tries to be funny, tries being the opportive word, but more importanrly he belittles anyone who asks questions in class and makes rude jokes about you, he offers extra credit to those who who come in office hours yet is extremely unhelpful when you do go in.
Although the material may be difficult, Mr. Rojas does an awesome job explaining. I found him very helpful and willing to go out of his way to make me succeed. He's the man!

I think that he comes to class stoned sometimes???? he tries to help, but his jokes get in the way and arent funny
corny math teacher humor is GREAT in his class!
peter seems like a cool teacher the first couple days when he makes a few lame math jokes but as the class goes on it just becomes annoying and a distraction. the material is unclear and unorganized and he is extremely unhelpful when you ask a question. really boring class i dont recomend it at all
He is awesome. His jokes are so stupid that they're funny. He's really nice and helpful and easy but the classes do tend to be boring but what math class isnt?
Boring, and unclear on what he wants u to know for the tests. puts a ton of stuff on the review sheet thats not on the test. tests are pretty confusing, along with his scattered teaching style. does give extra credit tho.
i would not recommend taking his class. he is a jerk! he seems like he cares about how you are doing in his class, but when it comes to it he really doesnt. I would recommend a teacher who cares and wants to see you pass their class.
He does not explain the subject clearly and is not very helpful. He does not care if his students suceed or not. If you are not good at math I would not take his class.
Peter is the best! His lectures are clear and to the point. For the students who do thier work, take Rojas because you will learn a lot!The class did move fast, but its an accelerated math class, thats what they do. He can be a little corny, but go with it and try to have fun.He is always down to help if you need it.Do all the xtra credit, you'll need it
Worst teacher ever!!!! Didnt pass me by one exam question on the final and then i tested out of it a week later in student sercives. very unhelpful if you visit in office hours. very sarcastic man who picks on the students and does not care if you understand the material or not. DON"T TAKE HIM!!!
He is great!! He is the best teacher i had in this semester. He is clear and make complicated stuff simpler.
Great teacher, straight to the point and very clear. Tells a lot of jokes...sometimes they're so stupid they're funny. Tests were fair, and his grading is pretty lenient.
Very good teacher, helpful and clear at explaining things. The AWESOME math jokes can get a little old sometimes, but he's trying. :) Gives you lots of worksheets PRE-HOLE punched (you don't realize how awesome that is until you don't have it) so its easy to stay organized. Overall, he's a really good teacher, take his class
Not a great teacher. He likes to pick on students and has his favorites. He chooses the hardest questions for the test and is not a "nice" grader. Don't take him.
i had him in the summer & he's hilarious! His tests are pretty straight to the point(no surprises) if you do the review sheet(which he goes over).hmwk helps too.gives extra credit on quizzes(maybe only 4 summer). i liked him
Great teacher, cares for his students if they show any interest in learning math. I wish he could teach all of my math classes!
well, i do not think anyone in my class likes this guy, including me. unless ur a math wizard ur not getting an A
awesome teacher, helpful, extremely clear. his tests are difficult but fair. homework is extra credit and is collected randomly, but trust me you NEED those few points. the class halved in size by mid semester, but only because the material is difficult. rojas is a good teacher.
he's really helpful. do all the homework. it seems like too much, but u'll be fine on the exam if u do the homework. dont waste any extra credits opportunities.
I had this guy for the summer and I'm glad he was the one teaching. He made the material extremely easy to understand and even though the class was three hours long, five days a week, he made it fun with his corny jokes. He gives out a whole bunch of extra credit thru quizzes and review sheets so be sure to get as many as you can to help your grade
rojas is hillarious. you wont regret taking this class...especially if it is your last math requirement. either way, if you go to class, you will have no problem on tests and assignments
mr rojas is the best, funniest math teacher at sbcc! he makes going to class fun. he offers TONS of EC. there are 4 tests including an accumulative final. his class is pretty straight forward. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!
I took 130 and I though he was the worst teacher I'd ever had. He was unnecessarily rude and unhelpful. I know it's a hard class anyways but do NOT take this teacher if you can avoid him!
Peter Rojas is a really good teacher. He gives a lot of ways to earn extra points, all of his tests are based on previous reviews and homeworks. If you pay attencion to his class and do the homework you can easily get an A. But there is no miracle, if you don't act like a student you will never get an A in anything.
Mr. Rojas is not the type of teacher who is motivating, helpful, or pleasant. I took his class and understood nothing and failed. I retook it with a different teacher the next semester and got an A and understood everything. Do not take his class!!!
He is really helpful,he explains and right away gives you a sheet of exercises to do at class then they all get done at class one by one.During class he checks students one by one to make sure that all are on the right track and he helps you to get organized.
Rojas is a nice guy but he is more busy trying to be GROOVEY then to formualte a good leason plan. Material covered in class wasnt on homework. He would sometimes pick the homework right in class, showing how unstructered he was.Better if he labled the sections on handouts and had a handout for each ideal lastly predetermined homework prior to sem.
Rojas is underrated. He is possibly the most interesting man in the world. He has perfect posture, extremely eloquent and he is a man of many talents. Many corny jokes to lighten up the class. offers a lot of extra credit. I wish i could have him as my teacher again but it didn't fit my schedule. Do all homework and dont fall behind for an A
He was very hard to understand. If you want to go back to 3rd grade and do pointless worksheets then hes right for you. On tests he makes you show every single step and if you miss one step he will mark you down. Or if your work is unorganized then you will get marked down. He makes you feel completely stupid when asked a question. DONT TAKE HIM!
He doesn't teach the theory behind math, he only gives you worksheets and you work on the sheets together in class. Because of this, I spend the majority of time quickly trying to write down how he got the answer, all the while he was already starting to work on the next problem. I barely passed the class!
Mr. Rojas did not act like he wanted to see his students succeed. Unless you understand the concepts he teaches prior to his explanations, the only way to pass the tests is to read the book.
got a C in mr. rojas' 137 class and an A in 138 with another teacher. should tell you a little something about how he teaches
He has an attitude if you are not a math wizard, his tests are tricky and he is not helpful during office hours but did offer extra credit for office hours(though very little). He assigned loads of hw but never collected it! Let's just say I worked my heart out and did not pass:(
He gives you a worksheet each class lecture. They're really helpful because it makes it clear to understand. He can be funny and only rude to those disrespectful. I got an A for his summer class. I reccomend this teacher. Seriously if you need to take math 4 definitely choose him.
Class based entirely on tests but not impossible. He's a pretty funny guy but with a weird sense of humor.
I love calculus to be honest, but Rojas made me hate it. He made me feel stupid when I went to office hours of all places, as if I was supposed to know everything already when he should have been helping me succeed. His tests are way too hard, even if this IS a hard class.I recommend taking any other teacher for 160, he made me hate my major & mat
Rojas is such a bad teacher... I have never tried to hard in a class. I spent over 20 hours a week studying for this class. He is not approachable, seems out of it all the time. His tests are impossible he picks the hardest problems. His exam reviews are pointless he does not even give you solutions. I usually enjoy math but he mad it miserable
this guy is a joke, especially in a class like 130. He doesn't give you proofs for anything making it that much more difficult to learn. He just tells you to "take my word for it" which by the time you hit the practice problems is worthless because you have no sense of how to approach the problem. AVOID HIM. Tests are beyond difficult as well.
Dont take this professor. Im an A/B student and failed this class. his average on his tests are 61%. He is not willing too help you. (even if you go to office hours) and he does NOT like when people ask questions and he makes you feel stupid for asking. I took this class in high school, same curriculum, understood it, got an A. doesnt help you
Mr. Rojas is absolutely great. He listens and is nice to everyone. He never gets upset or mad. His class is moderately hard but he gives out massive amounts of extra credit points. He also gives out study sheets so you don't need to take any notes! He is a funny guy and takes the time to engage with his students.
Nice guy whose helpful and has a good sense of humor. He doesn't get too mad if you're late but he definitely notices. The materials easy and he sometimes talks to you like you're dumb. The tests don't always reflect what he's taught you, which makes them hard. But if you know the material well, pay attention, and do your homework, you'll do well.
Rojas is very hard to follow. Before enrolling in his class I've consistantly earned A's in all of my previous math classes. He isn't very good at explaining things and doesn't collect/grade homework so you never get any feedback. Your entire grade in the class is based off of 3 tests and there are few chances for extra credit. Avoid Mr. Rojas.
He is a really good teacher, if you do homework, you will do well on exam. It is easy to get an A
Peter is GREAT! Practically everything you do is extra credit, even quizzes. If you do all the extra credit you could bomb one of his 3 tests and still get good grade. He emails back quickly. He is funny. He doesn't care if your late or leave early, but he does notice. All test ?'s are copied from the HW. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!
Prof. Rojas is a great teacher, I have to admit things are a bit fast paced sometimes, but if you participate in class and do the homework you are well prepared for the extra credit quizzes and exams(which count a lot). Also if you need help understanding something, he will help you for sure!! I really recommend him!!
Very clear, great teacher!!
He is the best math teacher iv'e had so far. He is very clear and goes at a slow pace. He doesn't make you do ridiculous homework assignments that count for points or give stressful quizzes (since his are extra credit) the tests are definitely hard but if you know the material well you'll do fine- a very stress-free class.
Great teacher. He is so nice also very patient. He really does care for his students and does everything he can in order for them to pass. My favorite teacher so far at sbcc
If you want to learn the subject this guy is teaching do yourself a favor. Buy the Alex math software and teach yourself! He is the worst teacher I have ever seen. Take my word for it take another class. In his quest to stamp out ignorance he needs to work on himself. Get it
My all-time favorite sbcc math teacher (next to miner). He is very slow so you can always follow along with the examples he does and he never tries to cram too much work into one lecture. He is very organized and his tests are tough but he prepares you for them by teaching well! TAKE HIM!!!
Rojas is such a really teacher... I haven't tried to hard in a class. I spent over 20 hours a week studying for this class. He is not approachable, seems out of it all the time. His tests are impossible he picks the hardest problems. His exam reviews are pointless he does not even give you solutions. I usually enjoy math but he mad it miserable
He is NOT helpful answering questions, tests were usually filled with unexpected material and problems, despite having good amount of studying done beforehand. His extra credit opportunities are ridiculously hard to get any points from. He makes a ton of mistakes In class while teaching which often lead to a lot of class confusion. Wouldn't suggest
Math 100. Go find another teacher! Regret taking his class. Barely any xtra credit. Everything based on test. Beware!
Peter was my favorite math professor I had during my time at CC. He's clear, funny, and is super helpful during office hours. Because he saw I could get my in-class assignments done early, he would bring practice problems just for me. Do the homework and you'll be fine!
Professor Rojas is a great teacher, cares about his students. 88% for an A, gives lots of extra credit (all quizzes are extra credit). Hands out study guides for the tests that almost directly resemble tests. Easy A if you put effort in. No need for the $100 textbook. Homework is online.
Rojas could have been a great professor if he taught more rather than fill in the blanks on his worksheets he hands out for lecture. Attempted to go to office hours for help and left even more confused. Had to hire a private tutor in order to understand the material because he didn't teach it well. If you struggle with math, don't take it with him
Show up and do the work and you will be fine. ALL quizzes are extra credit and optional so just do it and get some extra points towards your grade. Easy to talk with and gives clear directions of what he expects.
Peter is an amazing and professional math professor. He is very understanding that not all students learn the same! If you do the work and study you'll pass with no problem. Gives a ton of extra credit, do it! All these bad reviews are insane to me! They must of been right out of high school to not understand what type of teacher Peter is.
He's a great guy, I enjoyed him as an instructor. I found his class to be an enjoyable experience. I missed a lot of class which isn't good but i still got an A. He's very chill.
This class was probably the worst math class I've had. He is not approachable at all and will call on you in class during lecture to answer a question. If you say you don't know he won't even both to help you. He offers extra credit but his tests are really hard and a lot of pages. If you struggle in math do not take math with Peter.
If you have to take him then take him, but he shouldn't be your first choice. He can be pretty funny but isn't so approachable. Tried talking to him a few times but he seems like he just doesn't care. Doing good in the class, but I'd rather not take him again and get over finals week already.
He seems like a great gut, but his tests are way too hard. I had no problem completing the homework (100%). But I got 50% on the tests and with almost no extra credit I am going to fail this class if I don't get 90% on the final test.
Do not take this class!! Professor Rojas is extremely unhelpful and his tests always have surprises on them. Worst 130 teacher you can take! This class screwed my gpa
Definitely not a good first choice. Friends warned me about his classes, but I didn't listen and ended up regretting it. Always put surprises on tests and the study guides were of no help at all. If you're down to sit and watch him do some fill in the blank worksheets then this class is definitely for you. Strongly suggest not taking his classes.
I had Peter Rojas as my Math 130 Calculus teacher. Don't get me wrong, Peter is a nice guy but in my opinion, not a great teacher. I did all of the homework and got 100 % on it and did extra credit and show up to every class and go see him in office hours and weekend labs and I studied non-stop. He failed me near the end because he grades harshly.
His exams are extremely hard and the material on the exams isn't material that was covered in class. His notes aren't organized at all, they're all over the place and his lectures aren't straightforward. It would be helpful if he posted notes online.
Horrible Professor! Trust all these bad reviews, he's awful. How he grades his tests does not reflect the material you know. I am good at math and I thought to myself that I will be able to teach calculus to myself, but no matter how well you know the math you will fail the tests. He is also very condescending. Avoid him at all costs!!
Although Peter is a nice guy, i do not reccomend taking his class. He has no give when it comes to grading and is not very understanding. If you can avoid his class i would
I don't understand any of the reviews giving him a 1 on quality. He is a very straightforward teacher. He expects you to put in your own time on work and learning the material but he gives you everything you need to know and touches back on any basic algebra concepts you don't understand. he One of the best math teachers I have ever had. A+ quality
Peter Rojas may not be the best lecturer, but he is definitely not the worst. His tests are quite difficult; however, an A is very possible, as he gives a generous amount of extra credit opportunities (all of his quizzes are extra credit).
I would not recommend his class unless you do not have any other option his teaching can get confusing, he just goes over the material he is teaching it like you already know it which is very difficult for me considering I find it difficult to understand math. His study guides are not useful at all.
Professor Rojas is the greatest math teacher i have ever met. He gave us plenty of extra credits by taking quizzes. And his exams are not very hard if you pay more attention to all materials that he gave to you. He is nice and respected I hope you guys can enjoy his class..·
he is a Great Professor if you struggle with math, are in DSPS, or just need things explained to you better. he doesn't rush or try to make you feel bad if you don't know the answer.
The funny thing is Professor Rojas could not speak any slower in class lectures but at the same time the speed at which we go through the material and is insanely vigorous ! I have never struggled in any math course until I met Peter Rojas. If you learn by repetition and cant perfectly execute a problem after seeing it ONCE-do NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
Very good and funny professor
I would recommend Peter, he's a great professor! I'm horrible at math but professor Rojas explains step by step which helped me very much. He gives plenty of extra credit, you can earn over 30 points of extra credit. He gives good study guides and the exams are not hard, except the final. Only two homeworks per week which are easy!
Professor Rojas was amazing! He went at a great pace and as long as you go to class, the material is pretty easy. We did not use the textbook and the homework was online and easy as long as you understood the lectures.
TAKE CHRIS PANZA, Peter is sarcastic and an unpleasant class to sit in. Has a bad attitude and rude again just unpleasant and there are way better teachers
Do not take Peter, he's rude and judges you for having other responsibilities. He will find any reason to deduct points from your exams and Hw assignments. He also doesn't let you use a graphing calculator for a CALCULUS class, and all he does is "fill in the blanks" worksheets and the exams are completely different than the worksheets.
He was very bad at explaining mathematical concepts and only makes things more confusing when he tries to help. He is not understanding of you having any outside responsibilities or life. He picks certain students to be exceptionally rude to simply because he can. I will never be taking a class with him again.
