Any professor who starts out the semester by saying "Everyone will pass this class" is fine by me.
Good teacher. I respect him.
This guy loved the women. They got the grades no matter how horrible they were in class. Somehow in the field projects he hand selected the top people for his teams to supervise them and the best looking women. Way to set an educational example!!!
This class is ridiculously easy.
Easiest class I've ever taken in Albany. He's a good professor, just wants to see everyone pass.

1 of the easiest classes u can take at ua;hes real nice but class isso boring and theres really no need 2 ever go cuz he posts slides online. he does give mad easy bonus quizzes to reward the few who go so keep that in mind(tho if u do well on tests and hw theres no need4this)only 2 tests all mc;last few hw are hard so do good on the earlier ones
most boring class ever! how are you suppose to learn excel without a computer? basically, you must teach yourself in his class. although, he sometimes goes over the formulas real quick and u got to jot them down. otherwise, plan on teaching urself. goin to class is useless cus u dont learn anything but u have to go if u want a good grade
Really easy class. Dont get discouraged if you dont do well on the first test...just do well on the homeworks (which you have the answers too) and go to class (bring a book or other homework) because he gives pop quizes (and tells you the answers to them). Great class! Take this man!!

go to the boring class, do ALL the easy assignments, make sure your in class for the EXTRA CREDIT(which is the only reason i went to class) ,your golden.

Easy class, got no highr than an 80 on each test and got an A-. The excel hw's are really easy unless u have never used a computer. Offers a couple quizzes which boost the grades. You dont deserve to be in college if u get anything less than a B in this class.
Go to class. Do all the HW's. and you should do fine. Great Professor!

Take this class if you can actually go to class, have some knowledge of Excel, and GO TO THE LAST CLASS before tests, that is really important. Yea, and you leave in half the class period.
This professor knows his stuff, but I rarely went to class... but I did so well. I got an A-. Do all the projects, and he gives in-class quizzes, so make sure to be in class sometimes.
Easy Class. Do the Homework and get at least a 17 out of 20 on each, do good on the tests and you'll do fine. Be in class for Extra credit and your great.
Ross is by the book. Start the projects early in the semester and you will be fine.
This guy is worthless! When doing the excels, I attended his office hours where he proceeded to tell me that although I had done something wrong, he didn't know what, and he didn't know how to correct my error. "Someone knows how to fix it, just not me." was his response. Must attend class to get extra credit quizzes, without them forget an A.
This is an easy class. It consists of two tests and some excel homework, which he does half of in class anyway. Ross is not the most approachable, but helps if he can. Doing basic work will assure an A, he wants you to do well.
Take his class. He is very understanding of college students, and does his best to teach the material. Must study for tests and do homework, and if you do, you got an A no problem.
Okay class. Get the key terms for tests. Use excel book for casegrader. Not too bad of a class
Peter is hard. You gotta put your work in. Nice guy though. Good luck...you gotta take this class because hes the only teacher so there is no point in reccomending him or not. If you want the A get ready to put your work in.
39 As between 731 students this semester. Definately not the easy A it used to be. Go to class, do the excels and make sure you study for the tests and don't rely on the key terms alone, study the book. Not a particularly helpful professor outside class
Prof. Ross is fair, and you will definitely lean useful skills in this class. You need to read the textbook to do well on the tests- simply defining the key terms won't get you too far. His lectures are really annoying, but he usually lets the class out early. He gives pop quizzes, so go to class- it's almost impossible to get an A without them.
Fair teacher. Make sure you go to class to earn the random quiz points. The quiz is basically fill in the letter A for number 1. For the tests, do not rely on the key terms alone. Study the rest of the slides. Don't bother with the book. For excel, even though it is really time consuming, try to do the tutorials before the actual casegraders.
Not a hard class. Don't need the computer texbook but excel textbook is useful. Make sure you focus and do the cases really well, consult the book. Cases are huge part of the grade. Lectures are boring especially excel ones but you should attend class for free quiz points.
Easy easy class. Make sure you know the key terms and the tests will be a breeze. The homeworks are easy and if you pay attention in class, he goes through them step by step.
gave a quiz the day b4 spring break so i missed it..so boring..not easy..i pay attention and still cant do the hw! hes not very nice either. oh well.. there's not much choice for another teacher if u need itm. but if u dont slack off u'll probably get an a.
I can not complain. Professor Ross was extremely fair. Although attendence was not mandatory he randomly gave out a 20 point bonus quiz which was added to the final grade. He gives out 2 tests and assigns Casegrader which is time consuming but with a review book relatively easy. He is pretty laid back when you go to his office hours.
He is an awesome teacher. I really liked his class. He tries his best to make the class interesting but the stuff is little boring. Attendance is not mandatory but still go to the class everyday.
Professor Ross is a cool guy. This class is super boring though. He gives you a lot of info in class and gives you terms to study for the test. As long as you memorize the words you'll be in good shape as well as doing the casegraders.
If you do the cases and study the terms you will be fine. and go to class once in a while.

Ross is a hard ass. He won't help you if you haven't put in effort to begin with. 12 different HW's account for 240 out of 500 points for your grade. The other 260 are from 3 exams. Exams all MC, study slides and should be good. I found the course very interesting. PS he does half of the HW in class for you
Way too in depth and specific for 101 class. Don't buy the texts, especially the Excel one it DOESN'T help and is outdated. Only buy the Casegrader. The exams are absolutely ridiculous, don't expect to do well. I'm a computer whiz and I did awful on each. The Casegraders are the only thing which helped my grade. Exams too specific. Good professor. Moderately easy A. Go to class. He does the homework in class, which is a huge portion of your grade, and gives exam terms/questions. The exams cover a lot of information so study the slides well. The Excel part of the class is very practical and valuable for real world work. I learned a lot from the second half of the semester.
Ross is a great professor! Attendance is not mandatory, but you should go b/c he randomly gives key terms that will be on the exam and questions too! Make sure you have a study buddy! First half of the class is boring, 2nd half (excel) is more difficult. As for the case graders, get a tutor! I did bad on my test but managed to get an A-!
awful teacher...doesnt help the students at all or even care at all if everyone fails...the only thing he says is go see the TA...his test are rediculous out of 100 questions he gives you 20 key terms if your lucky and hes the only teacher for this class so have fun if your a business major
He seems like a nice guy. He cracks jokes every once in a while. His tests are very hard, which he does intentionally. He doesn't want the average grade above an 80. Only a couple of homework assignments, which are easy. Lecture consists of him speeding through powerpoint presentations. Taking notes is difficult because of how fast he moves.
Half of the key terms he doesn't put on the test. Doesn't prepare you well for the test at all. Very tough. Casegrader is fine...other than that the excel test are crazy hard....I get straight A's and this class is giving me trouble...
Very good professor, knows his stuff. Attendance isnt required but he gives extra credit randomly before breaks. 400 total points, 3 tests worth 100,100,50 and 150 points in casegrader(excel homework). Not an easy A youll definitely have to work for it.But he curves final grades and if you put in some effort you should get a B or better.Great class
3 test all on terms, and then 12 case graders. The first 8 are pretty simple, the last 4 can be challenging. Sure B or higher
Easy class, nice guy. Do the homeworks, it'll basically teach you everything you need for the exams, plus they're worth a lot. It's a big class, so deadlines are strict but he tells you due dates on the syllabus!
if you can not wait in long lines for the TA's you are on your own but its a mandatory class take with someone else if you can
does the homeworks at the end of class, do them all because they will help a lot and don't try and email your friends the homework, you WILL be caught and penalized for it. gives out keywords for the tests in class also and class usually doesn't run the whole time either. overall a very good professor and an easy A
He's an okay teacher but he's the only one teaching this class so it's not like you have a choice. To do well, you need to have a group of friends in the class so you can all do the cases together(so i suggest you make friends now) DONT cheat..you will get caught. I NEVER EVER went to class and still managed to get an A-. AND do the extra credit!
If the class as a whole does bad enough, the curve will be decent. (he says he doesn't curve but did at the end). He's chill, he knows nobody cares so he teaches accordingly the tests are a little hard but if you read the textbook you'll be fine. AND if you actually learn to do the cases (and not just copy your friends) the tests will be easy
Peter Ross was not very helpful when it came to assisting students during office hours.He would send students to speak with his TAs who were clearly uninterested in helping students solve problems. After a while, I stopped attending class because I found that Peter Ross just read off the slides. Just read the textbook. It helps with the Grader HWs.
Graders are not that difficult, you could use your textbook to try helping you instead of going to the TA's for help. Do good on the graders, study for test and you should get an A
Since there are no more exams in his class, I suggest working in a small group to get a decent grade on each assignment (w/o cheating). Lectures are somewhat boring and going to class isn't mandatory but he does part of each assignment & gives out a few extra credit in class. His textbook outlines how to do just about each step in an assignment.
If you're taking this class and own a mac, be ready to be in the library a lot! You need a PC to access and submit the grader assignments. That said, it is a super easy class that doesn't require much effort at all. It would be nice if more support was offered but P. Ross is a good communicator with clear expectations
Don't really need the textbook. GREAT professor and GREAT material on Excel and Access!! YOU WILL LEARN A LOT that you will benefit you A LOT...one class that I actually put to use Haha. Take this class but make sure you have time to understand or it will just be a pain and DON'T get behind. This class builds on itself.
Professor is very disinterested in students outside of class and is the typical "put my time in" professor. He teaches class and wants to do very little after. He is lazy in lectures and in student help. Rely's heavily on TA's. Received a B but felt I self taught everything.
Ehh. Not a lot of interest when he lectures but it is somewhat of a boring repetitive subject so I get it. What bothers me the MOST, is I'm getting a B+ because you have to submit your excel and access projects online, and they will deduct points for no random reason even if you got it right. I should have an A. What can you do though.
No tests, all grades are online projects. System is very buggy however. Attendance is not mandatory.
Terrible teacher. Does not care about students or care about teaching this class. You must teach yourself everything. This is not an easy class. Neither Ross or the TA's are useful or want to help you in anyway. Easily the worse teacher I've had and the class is very time consuming and a tough class.
Attendance is not mandatory for his grading purposes, but I highly recommend going. He goes through HW examples step-by-step. HW is pretty easy & done online. DO NOT CHEAT OR COPY. If he finds you cheating, he will fail you from the class & you will have no chance at the School of Business. Tests are extremely hard, attend review sessions.
Terrible class, he is such a grumpy old man who is not willing to help when you go to office hrs. TAs are not helpful either because they "can't help on HW". He flies through lectures, so theres no point in even going. Assignments and tests are hard. 16 homework assignments online (drops lowest HW grade) and 3 exams MC, T/F. All in all tough class.
He's one of the worst professors I've had in UAlbany. An individual can't get help from TAs, tutors or each other. If they do receive any form of help or assistance, they get cited for cheating and probably get suspended for cheating. If an individual learns it themselves and finds a function that works, it might be the wrong one and lose 50 points
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS, homeworks are difficult and will only get harder, attendance is not mandatory but tests are difficult, very unreasonable. do yourself a favor and try not to be caught cheating, it will not help. goes through FEW homeworks in class, but just not enough. find another professor to take this class with! please.
Easy class, make sure you do the hw with friends to get them right. but just keep it on the low cuz he considers that cheating. people who are saying he's hard must not study at all. the book helped alot. appeal the hws, i've gone from a low 80 to high 90s half the time. helps to go to class
This is a required class for so many students so many will not be able to avoid this class. Overall the work is really quite easy. Taking your time on the assignments is key. Ross actually said that this semester was the hardest ever offered. The class does actually teach a lot of important skills but it will be annoying at times.
The homeworks are pretty difficult unless you attend class and watch him go over an example. the textbook isn't necessary to purchase, if you can manage.. The TAs were pretty good except for one, and there's really little help to recieve for the homework. Don't cheat at all, he'll fail you, but go to class and record his examples-you'll manage a B.
He or his TA's are not good at helping but textbook and videos are! Attend only reviews! Also, he has very little curve don't expect much. I went only few classes and missed the extra credit, I got A-. Be ready to do everything on your own, it is very hard class compared to other sophomore courses.

Peter Ross is the devil, doesn't care about his students and although he does walk-through of the hws, hes very dismissive with any questions and even though I usually have good relationships with my professors I always had the sense he did not want to give me the time of day. Its too bad the class is mandatory, sorry prospective business students.
I've never seen a teacher who was so disinterested in helping his students. Material can be interesting and is probably easy to teach, but Peter Ross fails to meet the task. Unfortunately this class is mandatory to make the school of business or else I'd say to avoid at all costs.
What can I say? He's not the best "teacher" but he does lecture. He reads the slides like a book and thats about it. His TA's are too busy not making their office hours or changing their office hours to help, so don't bother. I'm a returning student so I had Excel background, but Access was a challenge. Taking the course now and its difficult.
lectures are super boring but at the end his either does the homework or an example. recorded it on my iphone and always got 100 on my homework online. easy A just got to sit through until the end of the lecture.
