Wonderful instructor. He makes Economics interesting and enjoyable.

Hard class, but he makes if very easy to understand. Anytime you need help he will try his best to get you to understand everything.

I was really nervous to take this class b/c a lot of my friends had taken it and told me horror stories about it. Mr. Schumman actually made it easy to understand and enjoyable. DEFINETELY take him.

Funny and interesting and all his examples include pizza and beer. To me, he looks like Chris Kattan from Saturday Night Live- kept waiting for Will Ferrel to run in so they could sandwich one of the girls on the front row.

Mr. Schuhmann Was awesome! He was fun and made class go by REALLY fast. I enjoyed showing up for econ. Doesn't require too much work, just go to class and you'll be fine.

Dr. S made a class I never dreamt I'd take into something that I actually enjoy. He's psyched about what he does, he wants you to get it, and there really aren't any tricks. You come to class, you study the handouts he puts online, you got it. Finally, a class where you really decide your own grade.

If you take this class w/ Prof. S be ready to take notes!Tests and Quizzes are very hard and confussing!

Schuhmann explains very well, is a nice guy, and kinda funny...so goin to class aint that bad. His tests and quizzes are TOUGH, so you HAVE to study and take good notes. Do the handouts and practice problems to give yourself a fighting chance.

i thought this was a great course, i coudnt have picked a better teacher, very clear, very helpful, excellent notes, willing to help out in any way, i felt very prepared before tests/ quizes. you have to study for econ there is no way around it, if i didnt study it would have been very difficult

GREAT TEACHER. Econ is hard = STUDY! He prepares well for tests & quizzes by providing practice probs that are very similar to ones on tests. Funny guy & willing to help. An A is definitely possible. :) Don't buy the book.. lots of notes.

nice guy--funny--but dont take a big auditorium class. smaller classes are better since you can get to know the prof. better.

As long as you go to class and study your notes and handouts you will make an A. Tests and quizes are very straight forward.

He was a good professor, I just didnt get his material. It all confused me very much even though I showed up to class everytime. Definitely do NOT ever take one of the make up or replacement quizzes though, they are EXTREMELY difficult!

Funny guy, not a class to worry or stress about. If you miss a couple classes he understands just make sure you take the notes or make copies of someone elses and you will be fine.

Schuhmann is probably the best econ professor in cameron. He explains things until students understand it. He's always available to help if you have questions for anything, and his quizzes and tests aren't bad at all, just look over your notes. Defiantly the econ professor to take!

tough class with A LOT of material covered. you have to go to class everyday, not because of attendance, but because you will get SO far behind if you don't. its easy to get in touch with him but he'll make you feel really dumb when you ask a question. keeps class interesting though.

His class was awesome. Going to class is important but if you do his online quizzes before the actual quiz or test you will be fine.

This guy! He reminds me of Chris Kattan from the way he looks. Anyway, this guy is very intelligent. Pretty young too, probably in his mid thirties. I took it in the summer, so it was very fast paced and challenging. Some key advice: DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS ON HIS SITE. They will help you tremendously. If you study, you WILL get an A.

He makes the class interesting and explains things in a way you understand... you must study just because it is ecn and things can get tricky. But he really does a great job!

Schumann is not hard at all, hes pretty funny in class, and aslong as you attend the majority of his classes, you should be able to pull a high B or A. definetly the best choice for micro econ.

This is one of the best classes I have taken in the business school so far. Dr. Schumann is a great professor...GO TO CLASS and always look at the handouts, etc. on-line before you have a quiz/test. Dr. Schumann had made me want to change my major. overall its not very difficult, just go to class and study a little and you'll do fine.

Really great 221 prof. His quizzes are almost impossible to get 100 on, but if you're okay with 90's you should be golden. He really is clear and I never have a question about the notes. Dont bother buying the book, the quiz/ tests are straight from the notes. Very nice guy also.

Take him for ECN 221 and go to class and you will learn a few things

This teacher is great!! he makes class a lot of fun and hes pretty HOT in a dorky kind of way.. You have to take notes and study for quizes and exams.. And go to CLASS.. def take this class, and you dont need the boook. p.s if you leave class early he will get pissed..

Before taking this, I thought I'd do poorly, but Schumman makes it definitly worth it. I'm horrible at math, but put the time in and have an A. He is incredibly fair, you know what you are getting on tests/quizzes and everything is from his notes. I highly recommend even to non-business majors--you will learn stuff!

Excellent class. I switched from Marine Bio to Econ major because of him. He's very enthusiastic and excellent at getting the concepts across to the students. GO TO CLASS or you will miss a lot of info.

GREAT teacher. He is energetic and explains everything so well. I've never had a teacher i understood this well. Some questions on quizzes can be tricky if you didn't study . People who do bad did not go to class at all and it shows. If you go every day and listen and study for a little while before the test you will be fine. Awesome teacher.

I took him my first year at UNCW, and he is still my favorite by far! Funny, fair, easy to understand. After this class, I promise you will LOVE ECN -- until you take the next class that he doesn't teach. =/ Even if ecn isn't required for your major, take Schuhmann's class!

Dr. Schuhmann is awesome! attendance isnt mandatory but everything on his quizzes and tests are taken from his lectures. No book needed and no outside school work besides studying! Speak up and talk to him on a personal level and you will do well! He could teach economics to anyone and he can make it interesting!

Got an A pretty easily, most everyone in my class though he was a great teacher, i think he reads straight from the book. Tests try to trick you but are easy if you have half a brain and have studied the night before. Probably best option for micro.

He is an excellent teacher. He makes this class extremely interesting. Taking his class actually made me switch my major to business. He relates everything to real life situations and tells relevant stories in class. You do have to study for his assessments, but it is well worth it.

Like everyone else has said great teacher. But to give some insight here are the grades. 3 tests and quiz's can challenge one by taking a harder quiz but forfeit the original score by doing that. And he takes attendance for a grade randomly and if you get perfect attendance he adds 2 points on your overall grade. Best teacher I have had at UNCW

I would advise EVERYONE take him! Hands down best professor I've had at UNCW. Takes attendance 10 times/semester. Not really required but you MUST attend every class to understand what he's talking about. He really wants all of his students to understand the material and do well in the class. Schuhmann is by far the best professor I have ever had. His teaching style is flawless and he makes everything very understandable. That being said you do have to attend class to get all the notes and you have to study hard for the test. You will never meet a professor like this. Not only is he brillant and explains economics in a crystal clear fashion, but he keeps you interested and inspires you to want to learn more. Out of all the professors I've had at UNCW, he is by far my favorite and that is no accident. Dr. Schuhmann, you are the man.

Took this during the summer so maybe it was a bit more lenient. Doesn't take attendance but will have random quizzes every now and then and it could hurt you to miss one. Great teacher at explaining things and being helpful. Take down everything he puts on the board and do the practice problems before each test and you will surely make and A or a B

Schuhmann is the freaking man! I loved this class, by far one of the best professors on this campus. He loves what he does and makes class so much fun. His tests are hard though! He will even tell you that he makes the answer choices all sound like they could be the possible answers. Definately worth all of the studying though.

Mr. Schuhmann is an AWESOME professor. TAKE NOTES!! Write down everything he puts on the board. Notes and graphs! Study these for the test along with practice tests, understand the material, do not memorize, and you will be golden.

My favorite teacher at UNCW. I only wish he taught ECN 222. You must go to class though, because notes are very important and he takes random attendance quizzes. However he is funny and interesting and goes out of his way to help students, plus if you do badly on a quiz you can take a challenge quiz. Do the study guides!

This guy has a reputation around campus as being one of the best professors around. His rep is well earned. He focuses a lot on theory and math rather than just number crunching on his tests. If you have a passion for economics and want to work for it, take Dr. Schuhmann.

Great Teacher, my favorite out of the Economics Department. Multiply choice/essay exams: multiply choice can be tricky. Only teacher that I have paid attention too.

Schuhmann is awesome! His class is pretty hard, not gunna lie. But he is so helpful, especially if you go to his office hours. If you do terrible on a quiz, he offers a challenge quiz, it seems intimidating but I went from a 45 to an 80 haha so take it!! If you study and really make an effort, you should do fine! Cool and funny. Econ is just a hard subject. Really interesting but lots of details to keep up with and know. He keeps info interesting and will help you with whatever if you meet with him. SI helps. His tests included answer choices from A to G sometimes. That makes it difficult. Wording sometimes hard too but he will keep you interested in class.

2 tests(25 questions),3 quizzes(10 questions), and and then the final exam. Overall this class is really good, it is not an easy A at all. The notes are very helpful but they are not exactly like the the quizzes and tests. I struggled but I ended up doing average in this class. Very willing to help you if you are struggling!

Whenever i am asked who my favorite professor has ever been at UNCW he is the one that comes to mind. The best one by far! He makes everything easier to understand and always helpful outside of class. My advice would be to read and re-read the quizzes and test before you make your final answer (some are tricky) just study and do the worksheets!

Dr.Schuhmann is a GREAT professor if you are an Econ major or are interested in Econ. His tests are made to make sure you know the material. Some multiple choice questions are A-H. Two tests, three quizzes, one exam and attendance are your grades. Attendance is taken 10 times randomly through the semester.

LOVED Schuhmann. I took ECN 221 previously and did horrible, took it with Schuhmann and have had much better results. Go to class, pay attention, take notes and study those notes and you'll do well! Best teacher I've ever had. Tough tests. Participation and attendance not required, but highly suggested. No text book required. Zero homework. Very difficult to get an A, requires absolute understanding of the topics for tests and quizes. Not many grading opportunities, make them count. Easy to get a B.

Genuinely one of the best professors I've ever had. He's very passionate about the subject and he is hilarious. His lectures are long, but it goes by so fast and if you're interesting in the subject, you will be engaged. If you're not into the subject, you will be. His tests and quizzes are challenging, but if you go to class and you'll be fine.

I personally didn't like him that much. He was a great professor but something with him didn't click with me. His tests were EXTREMELY hard for me. There were over 200 students in my class so the personal relationship with his students wasn't really there. The good part about his class is no textbook and no homework. Just be prepared ro study hard.

Definitely the best choice for ECN 221. Schuhmann is such a chill guy and he cares so much about your success in the class. Make sure to go to office hours to review your past quizzes and exams. He offers a good bit of extra credit so don't worry if you don't do well on quizzes and exams. One thing to be aware of is that his exams are short.

Dr. Schuhmann is the best professor I've ever had (100+ credits). He's so skilled at speaking to hundreds of people that he could probably become a comedian or inspirational speaker for Microsoft or something. I can see him on TedTalks talking about the demand curve of life. I will be fulfilled if I'm half as cool as he is when I grow up.

Great econ professor. Engaging and an easy A if you actually try to learn and make connections. Gives lots of dad-like lectures about laziness and college being important etc etc, I didn't mind it but I know some people were annoyed by it. Attendance is taken at random times but it's pretty easy to tell when he's planning on taking it.

Great professor! His lectures are interesting, and he is clearly passionate about economics. Be careful, because there are only two exams before the final so you need to do well on both. Attendance is not mandatory, but he does take it randomly 10 times throughout the semester and if you are there all 10 times he gives extra credit.

This class is quite extensive. He makes you work for your grade. His lectures are thorough and he has great feedback. He is very responsive. For being an online course, Dr. S. allows students to discuss in forums online easily and effectively. He has lots of homework and weekly exams, but as long as you stay up to speed, you will stay afloat.

Despite being a class with a couple hundred people it was pretty easy to get questions out. I guess it depends on the person but for me it was one the easiest classes I've taken. Made me want to minor in economics.

He is a good professor, but even with attending class every class, and taking tons of notes, the quizzes and tests are very hard. Micro is supposed to be difficult, but he makes it hard with the testing. Do not take unless you have extra help/very smart.

This profesor definitely knew what he was talking about. His lectures were amazing. Since hes been doing it for such long time he can take every day real world examples and apply it to what we are learning in an instant, making the topics that easy to understand. Definitely not an easy class, but my too difficult either. Just go to class and liste

Potentially my favorite professor at UNCW. Extremely fair and understanding. You have to work hard, but he definitely provides enough resources for you to succeed. Great lectures that aren't boring and are applicable to real life. His test and quizzes are challenging but not impossible. You definitely need to go to class and take good notes. 10/10.

Great dude in general but an awesome class that I really enjoyed, not too hard but definitely not a free A. I ended with an A- in the class and could not be happier.

Lectures are not boring and attendance is needed for doing well in this class. The actual material is not hard to understand if you pay attention and take good notes. He explains everything very well and gives great examples that need to be remembered. He creates his own quiz and test questions based off of lectures and things he says during them.

Excellent teacher who is always willing to help. Pay attention and an A is guaranteed. One of the best teachers at UNCW.

Take this class with Schuhmann! His lectures are so easy to follow and he often gives hints about quiz questions. There are so many opportunities for extra credit that I literally ended up with over a 100. I will say that a quiz every week was excessive but you get to drop 3 quizzes. which was nice. Take him!!

Great lectures that made the dry material come to life. He used real world examples and explained the terms in ways that made it very easy to learn. He didn't use a specific text book so you'll have to take good notes during his lectures and study his hand-outs. He was funny and engaging, which was a refreshing surprise for a micro-economic class.

I took this class online asynchronous. He provided a textbook list with cheap options. He really cares about the topic and teaches it well. Easy class if you watch the lectures and do the practice quizzes.

Dr. Schuhmann is great at his job. He is a wonderful prof and his teachings are very clear and explained well. Make sure you attend class and count the graphs. If you need extra help he is happy to meet outside of class to explain things

Mr. Schuhmann is the best teacher you could possibly have for econ. He truly cares and wants you to actually know the material instead of memorizing it. He does tell you to count all graphs for extra credit. It is very important to watch the zoom meetings and take notes!! This will help you a lot when studying for the quizzes!!

Great professor! He sent several reminders to complete weekly quizzes! If you pay attention in class, which is not hard to do, you will pass!

This man is amazing! His lectures are enjoyable and there's only one quiz at the end of every work that he allows you to use your notes on so I recommend either going to lecture or watching them when he uploads them on canvas. There's no hw so this is such an easy A!

I took Schuhmann for micro and Natural Resource Economics. ECN330 is an awesome course, I really recommend if you're interested in the economics of the environment, super cool. Schuhmann himself is an awesome professor, lectures are easy to understand. Basically a 10 question quiz every other week, a few homework, a final, and lots of extra credit!

Mr. Schuhmann, is a great professor. He really wants you know know the information not just memorize it. He gives real world examples which makes it so much easier to understand. In the semester we were only grades on Quiz, one every week. But his lectures covered everything on the Quizzes.

He's a great professor and I really recommend this course! Everything was online this semester, but it was so clearly laid out and accessible that I loved this class. He makes the material very understandable. Everything's graded off of weekly quizzes, so just read the lecture notes and the practice stuff and you'll be fine. No textbook either!

The lectures in this class were wonderful and Professor Schuhmann's positive attitude and adaptability were refreshing. One quiz a week and that's it! as long as you paid attention in class you were bound to do well. I had to take a TON of notes though.

The only grades in his class were the weekly quizzes and final. If you go to class and take good notes, you will do fine on the quizzes. You can also tell he really cares about his students.

Dr Schuhmann explains challenging economics theories and principals very well. I learned a lot in this class (and I expected to hate it). Really take the time to do the discussion problems and you'll be okay on the quizzes. He gave us multiple extra credit opportunities. He was also very responsive over email.

Dr. Schuhmann is such a great professor. He is so passionate about the subject and that passion really makes you want to not just memorize, but learn and be able to apply the lessons learned in the future. He is also willing to meet outside of class to go over quizzes or anything you do not understand! I would strongly recommend taking him!!!

Absolutely fantastic professor. Excited about what he is teaching and it translates into his video lectures. Held a weekly review over Zoom to answer questions before quizzes which was extremely helpful. Not an easy class but extremely interesting information.

Makes lectures very interesting, goes at a slow pace, and is easy to understand. there is so much extra resources if you dont understand something and he really cares that everyone does well. definitly take his class for micro.

By far the best professor I've ever had. I'm so bad at math but he makes math seem so simple because he said that he has always struggled with math so he wants to make it as easy as possible for his students. So inspirational, approachable, and good at explaining things. He made me excited to learn and I literally hate school.

Take him! I wish I could take him for macroeconomics. He knows what he is talking about, goes at a slow pace, and truly cares about his students. He is always asking us if we have any questions. He takes the material and applies it to real life. He is also super funny and will crack a joke every once in awhile.

He is a really good professor and makes the information understandable. The course requires you to do work outside of the class room if you would like an A. Attend class and pay attention and you will pass. Exams are fairly tough but he gives you an idea of what will be on them.

Schuhmann is a great lecturer and it's important to be there. Attendance is not mandatory but you need to show up to pass. The only assignments are quizzes and exams. Quizzes were all online and exams were all in person. He did not have any required textbooks, just suggested we get them if we feel like we need them.

Dr. Schuhmann provides clear, concise notes and lectures. His enthusiasm keeps you entertained while learning the required material. He is probably the best professor I've had thus far, including undergrad.

He was a great all around professor. He puts all his lecture notes online so you can learn if you don't go to class. He took attendance like seven times randomly because it's a large class. He gave one extra credit assignment during the semester and two exams. No homework.

If you are someone that struggles with economics I would recommend this class. I have never had a teacher who cared as much as he did about seeing his students succeed. He posts lectures online and his lectures are very informative. There are 7 online quizzes and 2 exams plus a final. He will randomly take attendance so attend every class.

Dr. Schuhmann is the best professor I have had at UNCW so far. His lectures were very informative and I always felt prepared for the tests and quizzes. He takes attendance randomly throughout the semester, usually at the end of class. I recommend hand writing notes and going to class before a test or quiz because he gives you examples of questions.

Professor Schuhmann is extremely smart. This class was somewhat hard for me but my grade went up over the course of the semester. Just pay attention during lectures and take notes. Going to his office for questions goes a long way with him! He is always willing to help. There is an online quiz every week but he drops the 2 lowest grades.

The most entertaining and energetic professor EVER. He randomly took attendance multiple times for a grade, but you should go anyways. He has "note summaries" online but they don't compare to class notes on the board. His "don't memorize, understand" ideology was great and he loved to tell stories and use real examples to supplement material. 15/10

He is so nice and funny and is super into Econ. Only grade in the class are tests, which if you study for you'll do fine. He takes attendance randomly but showing up to class is a sure way to get a good grade, he's also very engaging so I don't have an issue showing up. He does prefer hand-written notes.

Cool and interesting guy with lots of real world experience. Exams are directly from study guide, study well and use his study method and you will get an A.

I truly believe he is the best professor at UNCW. His lectures are the best classes you can attend while at school and you learn so much. Studying is important to be truly successful in his class but going to class was something to look forward to. if you have a chance to take his class, do it.

Professor Schuhmann makes economics engaging. Attending class and taking handwritten notes is key, as is using resources like Unstuck ai for study prep. The workload is manageable, and he wants students to succeed. A great professor overall.

Genuinely the best teacher/professor I have had in my entire life. Knows exactly how to TEACH. I had a D in ECN221 last semester and am now sitting at a 91 in Schuhmann's class with one exam to go. Only quizzes and exams, but as long as you are engaged in his lectures it is very manageable to get a good grade.

Loved the guy, no homework at all, only grades were quizzes and tests. All were multiple-choice. He was very open about going over the quizzes and tests and was willing to work with me to review topics.

Schuhmann is awesome for learning the material. He uses the board and writes the notes along with us. He also does a lot of real world examples and teaches in a very lively and exaggerated way which is super helpful in order to pay attention. The only thing is the class is very test heavy. the only graded things are quizzes and tests in person.

I literally switched to an Econ major after his course! You can tell just how much he cares and that he's a genuine guy. He uses up ALL of the class time with his lectures, but he does a good job of keeping you engaged. If you show up to every class (extra credit) and take notes you should pass easily. Would 1000% take any of his classes again!

Professor Schuhmann's lectures were engaging and he made it fairly easily to understand what he was teaching. He dosent give out homework assignments so if your a bad test taker I wouldn't recommend taking this course, but the quizzes aren't hard as long as you study and take notes.

Dr. Schuhmann is a great teacher and is excellent at teacher micro-economics. For those who aren't going into business he puts information into a format that is understandable. For those going into business he challenges them and stimulates conversation. I appreciated taking his class, even though I'd already taken econ in high school.

One of the best professors I have ever had. There is no homework and everything is taught in class. With that being said don't skip, he takes attendance randomly. He's very funny and his lectures feel like a performance. He only writes on white boards so make sure you sit near the front. All grades are quizzes and Tests so make sure you take notes.

Schumann has easily been the best professor I have had at UNCW. The only grades he takes are quizzes, exams, and attendance. Quizzes and exams are simple and easy to pass. I'm halfway through the semester and have made a 100 on each one. Attendance is randomly taken 10 times. He makes econ easy! Def should study if you want an A.

No graded homework, 6 in-person quizzes, 2 in-person exams, 1 in-person final. Lectures are very easy to follow. He uses scantrons for quizzes and tests. You won't need to cheat. He understands how to teach this material to students who have no prior knowledge of the subject. Great guy!

Professor Schuhmann is the reason why I was able to enjoy micro. Genuinely one of, if not the greatest, professors I have had. With that being said, there are very few things he grades on. around 6 quizzes, 2 exams, and a final. Attendance is taken randomly, but a very small portion of your grade. Great professor, seriously.
