Fun dry sense of humour. All around good guy. Really smart - master of the law
GREAT PROF. One of the smartest guys in the University. He knows everything there is to know about OHS law.
Great Prof Easy to understand, makes OHS Law concepts interesting. Great lectures. Very knowledgable and a great sense of humour.

one of the best minds at this crappy institute. ryerson is underutilizing him. very good sense of humor and explains the toughest of concepts with extreme ease. made a very dull, boring course, extremely interesting. hey, i'm a business major.
Knows his stuff...these classes would be SO deadly boring if it weren't for his wonderful sense of humour! VERY funny, smart guy. Notes are really dry to read...and he should consider changing the font (to a serif?).

Intensive course was a blast... He's a great prof, kept the class alive and let us out early. 5 days and the course was over.
What can I say about Dr. S? He's got the personality of a slug and rivals that of Ben Stein. Bring a pillow to class, you're going to need it. He's a brilliant man on the other hand, he just shouldn't be a prof...should be a lawyer instead.
I dont think Ive ever met anyone more boring that Strahlendorf...he talks in one monotonous voice alllll the time....and itz wayyy too much material to knw for the midterms and the exams. talk about B-O-R-I-N-G!!!
Peter ROCKS! His monotone delivery can put some people off (especially if you're sleepy!) but then you would miss all the jokes! He's a riot! He explains complex legalities so that they're understandable to the average student. The amount of material is somewhat daunting at times.
Smart Guy! Funny guy! Take this course. It's worth the time ,money and grade.
Thanks to proff strahlendorf he made the 1 week intensive occ health very easy. This proff is brilliant, an expert in his field and he displays this during the lectures.
The one week intensive class was great! The course material is rather dry, but Peter is able to keep the class interested with his sarcastic sense of humour. I highly recommend this course.
Professor Strahlendorf is a wonderful person. He is boring at times, I'll admit, but he is so intelligent and informed about what he says that you become captivated in his lectures. His sense of humour is greatly appreciated every monday 3-6!!!
What a sweet, sweet man...you have no idea. I know, I know...you wouldn't think! He is wonderful, accomodating and brilliant. I only wish more people could get to know him. He's a terrific guy.
The man can be boring, but is sometimes hilarious. He babbles off topic sometime, but is generally a smart man. He is highly educated and can answer almost any question related to the scope of the course. He Provides good lecture notes uses good examples in class.

i could only say good things about this prof!! i don't know him this well but that's it.he's professional in every way! and shut up, he's not boring, you're boring if you don't get his jokes:P and he manages to make the most complicated material bearable. wow thanks prof
The material in this course is about as boring as it could get. The prof's monotone voice doesn't help any.. Sure he makes jokes and we laugh, but oh my god.. I was ready to kill myself. The readers (ya there's two of them) are MASSIVE and guess what else.. BORING! Avoid taking this course unless you have to.
One Word: YAWN!!!! His lectures are boring as hell & its such a shame b/c he knows his stuff and teaches with passion. But MAN is he ever monotone plus the freakin lectures are always like 3 hours STRAIGHT...no breaks in between! However he'll give an occasional sex joke to get the crowd moving...it doesn't last long though.
He's a nice person and a good professor who did his homework, knows his stuff and for sure knows what teaching is all about. He tried his best to minimize the pressure in his one-week intensive course, without sacrificing his teaching objectives. For those who are bored and are looking for excitement, don't go to class ...go to Woodbine.
Gives many useful workplace examples. tends to talk quietly sometimes.
I give him alot of credit for knowing his stuff. He is very well educated in his field and I don't think there's anyone out there that has a knowledge as comprehensive. His lectures arent that exciting but what law class is. think about it.
I have not had the exam for this class yet....but this Prof is absolutely great. He's extremely nice and accomodating if you have a problem. I'm enrolled in the DE course and fell behind and he was extremely nice about letting me catch up rather than telling me Touch Luck. I love this Prof! But course itself...not one of the easiest readings :(
Great guy, very understanding. Knows his stuff. Material can be boring, but he has hilarious stories to help you remember stuff. Last week, he had us all laughing until it hurt. A+ Prof.
Strahlendorf, none like other. Awesome prof.
I am taking this course as an elective course. I am 4 exams away from graduation and so far this was the smartest professor I had. And not only this, he is very well prepared and makes a boring subject be really intresting. He is helpful, funny, understanding and extremelly talented. This was the only course that I really enjoyed at Ryerson.
One of the best professors I've ever had!
Peter is a great prof. He has a vast knowledge and understanding of law. His weekly lectures go for almost 3 hours straight (no breaks) but he is able to teach us a complex topic in that amount of time.
One of the best professor I have ever had!
Ok, I took this course as a print so to admit I have never met this prof. in person, so I can only comment on the material. I would never take this course again as print without in class instruction because material is dense However, marking scheme for this course is a joke, so is the final exam. You can easily get an A+, but take it in class.
very easy course BUT you need to read the textbook not once...not twice...but AT LEAST 3 times in order to get A-....gives out hint on midterm and final...attendance is not mandatory as long as you read the text...
Probably one of my best classes - not because of the content, but because peter's to the point - none of this assignment, test, test, quiz messing around just midterm/exam. Doesn't waste his time with short answer questions either.
He is an awesome professor who keeps a very BORING course interesting. I loved going to his class!!!!
Have had him 4 times throughout my program - subject matter is tough but he's very relatable. Very thankful that he doesn't waste our time with short answer, assignments etc. its either you know it or you don't - that's the way all classes should be.
Not gonna lie, the material he teaches (law courses) is tough. He does usually have wayyy too many slides for any student to be happy with, but he's smart, he explains things really well and he's a no-nonsense teacher with a great sense of humour. There's nothing better than a prof who knows what he's talking about and a low b.s. tolerance.
Amazing Prof!
VERY WELL DRESSED WEEKLY! Well prepared... COUGHS A LOT! GET SICK EVERY WINTER SEMESTER... Perfect class to fall asleep
Can go through 300 slides in one lecture. Smart, good sense of humor. He teaches one of the most usefull courses in OHS and PHS.
do *NOT* take online courses with him. He'll give you 1500 pages and tells you to study. Assignments are worth 5% each, and you have to work like a dog for 10 hours a week to get them done. He is THE most educated professor in Ryerson, has like 4 Bachelors, and 2 Masters and 1 PhD, and a bunch of Certificates. He's VERY *helpful and nice*.
Very good, despite the huge amount of material required to be memorized. Does a few really funny animal impressions. Very well educated and it shows.
This man knows his field, but he has an extremely monotone voice which makes the lecture drag on forever (usually 2.5 hrs anyway). The course material is boring and the exam is worth 60% but 2nd half of course easier than first and if you understand his slides than it shouldn't be to hard. Overall a nice guy but his material is boring.
Smart guy, funny.
I took the online course. Texts combined are MASSIVE. Expected to spend 10+ hours per week. Assignments are worth 5%, but consume a lot of time. Final exam is cumulative and worth 60%. Discouraged from asking the prof questions and discussion board was taken down. You're pretty much on your own. Would not recommend taking the online version.
so. much. reading. i took this in class and currently it's a 40% midterm and 60% final exam non-cumulative. both good and bad. prof seems cool but never really spoke to him. super large class and he was sorta stand offish and his voice is super monotone but cracked jokes here and there. no ppts so you HAVE to read and it's almost 2000 pages...
He's great but reads off the slides. So attendance is not mandatory.
course requires a lot of reading but if you study hard you are sure to get an excellent grade.Attending prof's class will help reinforce what you have read.I had an A+ in this class.
he is one boring prof that i know of -_-
Just finished the midterm and man did everybody choke! 66% was the class average. Test was not easy. A lot of information to take it. Apparently the second part of the class gets much easier according to 2nd year students and the Prof himself.
Good person overall, but I don't like how he makes the first exam hard to see who's an A, B, C, etc student. I feel like he's putting us into boxes, as if we are objects. His reassurance doesn't help.
Peter is very admirable. Knows what he's talking about and is fair. The material can get a little dry but he does his best to make things interesting. First law course I ever took and finished his class with an A+! If you show an interest and willingness to understand what he's talking about, you can do great.
This guy REALLY knows his material. He is well-versed and is still working in the field. He is very helpful and was very approachable.
Is always on time and makes sure you get the information you need (ie slides emailed). Great dry sense of humour, really know the material in all his law classes and is extremely fair with his examinations and grading. Really dense classes with a fair amount of reading, going to lecture helps - especially review day.
Peter is a very knowledgeable prof. not only he know what hes talking about, he knows what the students need know for the future. lots of reading, but if you show interest and do your part, its very easy to get an A. Hes smart, funny and very approachable, by far my fav. prof.
Awesome prof, Materials dull- but it's law. He does a very useful "exam review", and bellcurves depending on the class average. GO TO CLASS! He skips a lot of the material from the powerpoints (which can go up to 200 slides), and helps when studying for exams. Grading is usually 40%/60% for exams.
Dr. Strahlendorf is well versed in Occupational health and safety courses . He is definitely an amazing professor
Material is dull but the teacher is great, his slides wont make sense because they are taken straight from a government page and they are the actual laws so go to class. He explains well and hes very funny. Exam reviews are IMPORTANT and he will read out questions from exam. So study!!
Great prof who explains the intricacies of law well. He has a very sarcastic and dry sense of humour. He literally tells the class what's on the midterm or exam the lecture before--follow that. It's actually what's on the test. He also bell curves the grades.
Lectures are super long and super boring, but there is no textbook so you have to go to class. His lectures dont really make a lot of sense but he explains things verbally very well. He tells you exactly what's on the midterm (worth 40%) and final exam (worth the other 60%), and bellcurves grades.
No textbook, lecture ppt can go up to 400 slides.. They are just a compilation of statutes. You need to go to class to understand the context of it and he'll tell you what is important. Exams are quite tricky, make sure you know the section numbers for each law. 40% MT, 60% final, non-cumulative
Very thorough, lectures are full of information. Covers topics fully. Only problem is his voice. Very monotone; makes it hard to focus and makes you sleepy. Has funny jokes. Sends you notes for some of the lectures. Overall a decent prof.
Great guy! Attend reviews though!
If you have a friend who goes to all his lectures and takes notes, they need to become your best friend. Although his classes are droning and boring with a monotone voice, he gives the best reviews for the exam, and a whole lot of space to make mistakes His bell curves are wonderful, and give you a great bump up.
Teaches a very boring subject. His classes require a lot of reading, however it is impossible to get a poor mark in this course as we will bell curve everyone up.
Peter is a great prof. The material itself is very boring and his slides are very very long BUT if you go to class he does explain it in a way that you will understand and he gives examples. You have to go to his review classes before the midterm and exam. You will find yourself falling asleep in his classes until he says something really funny
Not going to lie, he's kind of dry. He does however, make funny jokes. He's been teaching this course for about 30 years, so he really knows what he's talking about! don't let yourself fall behind, as the midterm is 40% and the final is 60%
Peter Strahlendorf is definitely an extremely bright and knowledge individual, but as a professor he is downright terrible. He copy and pastes entire acts into his slide shows with little to no commentary in them. He has a very monotone voice and is generally boring. The course is beyond easy but an absolute bore.
Must attend every lecture to do well and study a lot. Every powerppoint has over 100 slides. Lectures are heavy with no break and lots of information. Tests are all multiple choice and are not tricky if you know your stuff.
Peter is a Great Prof! He is so educated & you learn so much in his class. He is hilarious, lectures are 3 hours but he releases you after 2.5 hours. Go to class so you know what to study because law itself is a different language so your presence in class will help you alot. He provides you with an awesome review for each exam so you're set!
It's a me a mario
He gives you a full break down of the midterm and the exam the week before, so you can study exactly what you need to know. It's a hard class but if you put work into it you'll do alright. Plus the class average is usually around 60% so he bell curves up to about 74%.
He has a dry sense of humor which can be appreciated. His teaching style is very dull, and there are too many slides(200+) in each lecture. He just puts up the regulations with no explanations. For the midterm and final exam, he does give you an overview of what will be on it which helps a little. If there was a choice, I wouldn't recommend him.
The exact opposite of concise. Powerpoints are hundreds of pages long and he talks very slowly for 3 hours. But he tells you whats on the exams.
HOT :)
Even though the material is pretty dry since you're just going over the OHSA in entirety, this prof really sets you up for success. I think he does a great job of teaching the material, and the review classes before the midterm and final exam will let you know exactly what to study. I would gladly take every OHS course with Dr. Strahlendorf
If you have any ounce of energy to keep awake, this prof is a real gem. Yes, he does have an incredulous amount of information on his slides, and yes, 40% of his power point is skipped. But his jokes are hilarious, and his explanation and interpretation of the law is second to none. He tells you whats going to be on the tests the week before.
He's extremely knowledgable but very boring to listen to. The course would be 10x better if he made powerpoints to present instead of going over literally 1000's of pages of actual acts in class that we skip most of anyways. He gives you a list of question topics before tests because there is no way someone could reread everything he's given you.
1000's of slides not helpfulat all
Extremely boring prof and hard
Only graded on midterm and final. Multiple choice, intentionally confusing language. Lectures consist of hundreds of slides copied from legislation. Monotonous voice drones on for 2.5 hours with no break but a few dry jokes (which ARE really funny). Had him 4 times, not mad that I won't have him again.
Rather late review, but I was in Dr. Strahlendorf's class in Jan-April 2020. I would highly suggest taking any classes taught by him, as his sarcastic wit and humour makes early morning lectures relatively enjoyable, even for a night owl like myself. His tests are m/c and fair, as long as you go to class and take notes based on what he says.
Don't take this couse!!! He posted 45 pages word document for a week's content and does not perform lectures at all. He just post materials andduring the class time he just answers student's quetsions. For the 3-hour lecture, he only use 30 mintues and then he leaves. the assignment has 119 fill-in-blank questions and there are 4 assignements
This course consists of 8 equally weights assignments/quizzes, due on a periodic basis per unit. He promised to give ample time before due dates for assignments (ie three weeks), but winds up sending out the assignment details a week before. Final essay for the course needed to be announced months ago as well, but is new and in middle of everything
Most unorganized prof Ive had during my 4 years at Rye. He gives assignments VERY late & expects us to hand them in on time and makes excuses for sending out assignments and materials late. He said he has 3 courses to teach as an excuse for sending stuff late but many of us students are taking 5 courses.. the only difference is hes getting paid.
He is like daddy material, but the only materials we're getting are assignments after assignments. Not specific with answers or any instructions as a matter of fact. I am guessing half of my works and he just assumes we all know how to write a case brief without teaching us how. He reads off slides like he doesn't know what he's teaching.
first of all we're in the middle of a pandemic and there is no d2l for this course. just sporadic emails containing powerpoints and assignments. Four assignments that are 20+ pages long which consists of going thru said powerpoints. doesn't teach us how to do major assignments, so unorganized. google is your best friend with him, don't do it.
Ive had this prof every year for 4 years and I would definitely have him again. Although his teaching style is different and he doesn't use D2L, he is very knowledgable and provides a great learning experience. His tests are somewhat challenging, however he is a fair marker in assignments. His jokes during his lectures also really corky and funny.
He is.. an interesting prof. Teaching method was a little weird, made us submit assignments and quizzes over email. Powerpoints were just a bunch of laws and regulations but it's what his assignments and quizzes were based on. Seems like he doesn't care about his students, but when you talk to him one on one he is very kind and caring.
Did not like this prof at all. There was so much work to be done. The fill-in the bank assignments was so annoying and confusing at times. According to him, all you need for the tests are your completed fill-in-the-blank assignments which is NOT true. Did so badly on the tests cause of his advice. Also took the whole sem to get most of your marks.
Very mundane personality and does not have the energy to answer specific questions. This is probably due to his upcoming retirement, there's just no more vitality or passion remaining for what he does. Tests were almost impossible to study for and pass. The assignments were free marks however. Assuming you don't cheat, read 2 hours a day to pass.
His lectures were easy to listen to and the assignments that went with the lectures made learning and remembering the material easier.
Super lecture heavy. Slideshows 220 slides and separate voiceovers were 2-3 hours at times. Around 12 units and seemed okay, but the tests were so hard and the class average is LOW (covered 3 units on average, get 0-30%). Fill-in blanks assignments easy. Bad response time for emails. Teach yourself and show up for slotted tests. Don't take :(
Only negative is that he refused to do the course on D2L everything was administered through email which made it a little unorganized, other than that he just posts prerecorded lectures (don't waste time watching) he just reads through the lecture slides which have all the information you need for the assignments. Ctrl + f slides for assignments
Have gotten great marks in all his courses(3 OHS courses 1 ENH course). He makes it very easy. He cant help that the material is boring.... Just on midterm and one final. PROTECT THIS MAN AT ALL COSTS
Extremely overrated. Copies and pastes legislation verbatim to his "slides". No longer has any passion for teaching and makes you feel like explaining concepts is none of his business.
