Peter Tracey is one of the craziest, most crotchety old men Ive ever met, but somehow he manages to be the greatest economics professor at the university. Although he acts rigid and unyielding, he actually tries his best to help students understand the material. EVERY single class he lets you leave early, his tests may be tricky, but not impossible
Tracey is the weirdest pro I've ever met but he's VERY good at what he does. He likes to crack jokes about his age and hates technology but he is the best econ prof at the university. His midterms and finals are kind of hard and long but if you go to review class he gives you free answers to questions on the tests. Textbook is VERY helpful as well
He's kind of funny- not extremley funny like some of the other comments say, but his class is really easy. almost too easy...
One of the best profs I've ever had. Very entertaining, and explains concepts in an easy to understand manner. Does exact midterm and final questions prior to the test. I would strongly recommend him
I took Tracey for econ 201 and 203, by far the best prof i have ever had, if you dont like him, you will not like any professor ever, and if you think his class/tests are hard, maybe university isn't the place for you, try something a little easier because Tracey walks you through everything you need to know a hundred times over every class!!
Quite the prof... Gives a percent of answers on each test.
Really good prof. Had him for 201 and 203. The 203 final was BRUTAL! Believe him when he says students do much worse in 203. But overall I would definitely recommend him.
BEST ECON PROF EVER. Gives away answers for midterm and final. Finishes classes early and finishes course material early.
Tracey is bizarre but approachable. He doesn't expect much from students, which is why he has high marks on this website. For those going on to higher-level economics, stay away from Tracey: his classes are easy precisely because he does not cover much, preferring to keep things incredibly basic. If you're only after an easy A+, go for Tracey.
Awesome old man. Makes class fun. fairly easy midterm and final. (he gives a few answers to them prior to the tests.)
Tracey is hilarious, makes class interesting and ends class early. On the other hand, I prefer more structured course material. Tracey writes all his own notes/diagrams = class mandatory & his writing is hard to read. I had Mingshan Lu for 201 and I prefered her b/c she used powerpoints and put them up online. Depends what type of learner you are.
All you need to do to get an A is attend class and memorize his notes. Before midterm he gives you 8/33 questions from the exam, word for word. Ends class early, cancels it a few times, and you don't need to buy the textbook. Very funny.
Really great prof if you are taking econ 201 or 203 as an easy option. He wants his students to get a good grade so he simplifies everything and uses examples almost identical as on the test. 203 is a bit harder than 201 and you actually have to study but go to class and take good notes and all will be well.
As stated by previous comments, his midterm is an easy A, however, final exam will be much harder, although not impossible. For this class, memorization will not suffice; understanding concepts and being able to interpret graphs will benefit you in the long run. Overall, excellent instructor.
Awesome Prof! His classes are easily understandable and fun! Midterms and finals are no stress!
Great teacher and an easy A
Such an easy class! He is a bit high on himself and easily angered at times, but he gives you questions right off the finals, and the aplia assignments and midterm and final are extremely simple!
Such a great prof! He was concise and straight to the point in the course material, and didn't waste our time on material that was not necessary for the exams. Take his courses!!
Easy class, great professor, sometimes repetitive with way he teaches so class is not that entertaining.Clear with course content.Best ECON professor there will be.
One of the best econ teachers. Great notes and very easy to understand. He also can be funny at times
Tracey is one of the best profs on campus. You do not need the textbook to understand any of the material as his notes are very easy to follow and really well organized. He is funny and keeps the course material interesting with his social commentary.
Tracey is very clear on explaining concepts so you can understand it right away. His midterm was easy, but don't expect the final to be a walk in the park.
Peter Tracey genuinely wants his students to do well. The midterm and aplia assignments- very easy. However, the final was brutal, so beware. You should be able to get your mark up high enough prior to the final though to get a decent mark in the class
What a guy. He is a grumpy man but so funny. All you have to do is go to class and its an easy A .
Easy course, easy midterm, very challenging and tricky final. He is pretty funny and teaches you everything but study a lot for your final because he makes it a lot more difficult than your midterm
Peter Tracey was the best prof i had for my first semester of university, class attendance is mandatory but its not bad at all. He tells you questions that are on the midterm/final. I got one wrong on the midterm and 100% on aplia assignments so i basically didnt even have to study for the final and still ended up with a great mark. Gd Prof
If your lucky to get him for 300 levels your set. Though he won't help you in the long run (if your an Econ major) his 300 classes are the easiest and most simplistic. First A I have ever got and I put twice as much time in my other 300 Econ. Tip: ever assignment he gives is questions from textbook. So.. Google them and you'll likely find your answer!
I took 201 and 203 with this prof. He makes everything very easy and understandable. Assignments and Midterm are EASY! You should ALWAYS take advantage and get 100% in both. Final is very tricky. He makes you think a lot in just 2 hours. He gives away answers for midterm and final so its good. I would really recommend him! Good luck ;)
He is one of the best professors. Attend every class and take notes (Reviews included) then you will ace the course.
Tracey is a hero
Just apply yourself he is so much easier than the others. I have taken a few classes with him and in every one. on the first or second day the maintence guy happens to walk in and tracey asks if he wants to say something, the maintenence guy then gives a little speach on applying yourself and hes an award winning prof etc. what a coincidence eh?
Highly recommended!! Really good professor, fun to have lectures with and really available for students. As long as you go to class you'll be fine - he even gives out questions for the test as part of review!
This guy is still a legend even in his senior 300-level classes. He even addressed his meme in class. Not going to lie, some classes really drag, but you can't help but love this guy. Tests and assignments are very fair. Great option to take if you have a heavy course load. Ask him what he thinks about animal circuses.
Take advantage of Aplia assignments and midterm. Midterm was fair, but try and ace aplia because the Final exams for Tracey are HARD no matter how many answers he does give you, the remaining ones DO make you think a lot in two hours! Read the textbook, DO NOT SKIP Class, and STUDY!!!
Fantastic overall, Tests are on the hard side but if you go to class, he'll prepare you for them.
Great teacher, explains concepts clearly and expectations for exams and assignments are crystal clear. Actually learn in his class
If you are an Econ major, DON'T take any courses with Tracey as he won't teach you anything but Grade 6 math. If you are looking for an easy option after taking 201 and 203, his 301 class is easier than the said courses.
I got an A-. Tracey was fairly easy. There was 1 MT(30%), 1 Assignment (20%) and 1 Final (50%). The final questions were a little tricky, but he went over the possibilities before. He goes over assignment questions in class and goes at a slow pace. He got crabby near the end, and was really mad during the final. Easy B+/A, you need to go to class
Midterm is very fair - there was even a marking error and he even gave extra marks to make up for it. Final is challenging but not impossible. Go to his review classes - it is SUPER helpful.
midterm is easy. Final is the killer.
Had Tracey for both 201 and 203. If you attend class the midterm and final won't be too bad. High recommended.
Easy class! He is great prof i also had him for 201 and 203 and i highly recommend him! he gives one assignment which he basically gives all the answers to.. and tells you exactly what 3 questions are on the final and midterm :)
I highly recommend Peter Tracey. He is a very clear instructor, and will provide you with excellent help if needed. Even though he seems a little cranky at times, he is actually a kind-hearted and compassionate man (You can see that through his support with his wife's love for animals). Go Tracey!!
I wish Mr. Tracey would teach forever. He was the best prof I had in UofC. If you get a chance to take a class with him, don't even doubt it, TAKE IT!
Best Prof at the UofC. Clear and concise! You must attend class if you wish to do good. He is worth going to class for his humour, and teaching skills. MUST GO TO MIDTERM AND FINAL REVIEW CLASSES. He pulls questions from the exam and gives them to you. Best prof!
best prof by far at u of c... this nigga is too easy, like you dont even have to go to class, just attend the midterm review and final review and youll be good.
Super decent. My mother died and he made accommodations for me whenever I felt better, although I did not need to take them. I missed 60% of classes due to family emergencies and passed with a B, because he is kind and helped me and has compassion for others. Not prejudice, but very reasonable. Gives clues to exams in class if you attend.
Tracey is great and he truly cares about you. Make sure you go to his classes because he gives you hints and midterm/ final exam questions. He is also super funny, so the class wont be boring. I would definitely recommend taking a class with him!
Good prof. Was very knowledgeable, and also hilarious. Makes ECON straightforward and easy to understand for people who aren't that interested but want to do decent in the course. Also, love his taste in music. I discovered a lot of great bands when he played music each time before class started.
A nice guy with good intentions, but if you are an ECON major his teaching style destroys you. He teaches you the bare minimum you need to know and does not set you up at all for higher level macro courses. Assignments and midterm are beyond easy, but I'm pretty sure he didn't write the final b/c it was really hard given the way he taught.
Very kind prof w/ the capability of teaching the course material very clearly. He knows exactly what he's talking about and always asks students whether they need to ask a question or not. Not enough time is given for Midterms. ATTEND ALL LECTURES!
Very kind prof. Knows exactly what he's talking about. Always asks if students have questions or not. GIVES OUT EXAMS QUESTIONS here and there. Not enough time given for midterms. MUST attend all classes to do well.
Mr Tracey is one of the best econ profs I've had. He is very friendly and kind. He might seem dry but he tries to make it lively. All depends on the students enthusiasm. I will recommend him and looking forward to future econ courses with him.
Best professor I've had so far! Awesome taste in music and a good sense of humor! He cares whether his students learn or not. He makes the class really easy and gives hints about the final exam. Anyone in econ should take a class with him! WONDERFUL PROF!
He's great. Literally gives you answers for the exams in class.
He is the funniest prof ever! Loved his class and looking forward to take another class of his
Good if you want to get an easy A, not so good if you actually want to learn Econ. He openly admitted that he skipped chapters that other lecture sections covered.
Great Prof! He is super funny and his notes are a good summary of the textbook. He also gives exam questions throughout the year so make sure you go to class!! If you put in the work this class is an easy A. Also, don't underestimate the final, it is a lot harder than you would think.
Easy midterm and assignments, the final exam is very fair. He is also a very fast marker.
A lot of the material is very straight forward. He does a great job of explaining the graphs and making the course seem very small. He writes all of his notes so its important to go to class. Although he gives questions/answers for the final exam, the final was still ridiculously hard.
He's a good guy and wants people to learn. He makes the class material seem so easy but his final is tough stuff. 100 questions in 2 hours and it was kind of tough but not a difficult class overall.
Midterm and assignments were easy. Final is difficult but not impossible. His lecture notes are clear and simple so I'd suggest reading the textbook for a more thorough understanding. Attend class because he gives out 20% of the final's questions! Genuinely cares that his students succeed.
easy A
Some say his lectures aren't mandatory but if you want hints for the tests i would not miss one! He goes through material at a good speed and always asks if anyone has questions. The assignments and midterm were MUCH easier than the final, that being said you really do have to study for it!
One of the best profs I have ever had. He really wants you to do well, and if you attend lectures he will give you half the test questions (sometimes directly) in class. He provides many opportunities for you to excel, very easy class and his dry sense of humour always made my day
Really easy class! He wants you to good, and even gives away answers to the exams! His sense of humor make class much more interesting! DO TAKE class with him if you can! Awesome prof overall !
Wonderful professor for an easy grade in 201. However I had him for 303 and am now behind in all subsequent classes before I've even started.
Best ECON203 prof by far. Great sense of humour and a wealth of wisdom. Its a shame he wont be around to teach future generations.
He gives answers to test questions but then expects you to do extremely well. It is not helpful. He gives too many questions in too short of a time period.
I really liked having him as a prof. He actually gives you enough time to copy the notes down and repeats important concepts multiple times. The midterm and the final weren't easy considering amount of time that we had.
Do not take any upper level economics with tracey unless they are an option or GPA booster. if you are an econ major you will not learn the necessary information for your other courses. Tracey is a nice guy and easy going but he teaches the bare minimal.
Easy class but useless. Does not really teach anything that you do not already know from 203. If you want easy marks, take him but do not take courses which would then take you to take 400+ courses
Plays music at start of class. Does questions in class that will be on tests. Writes out notes on projector, so you need to go to class to get the notes. Could just use textbook. Online assignments easy.
One of the best profs i had. He really made things clear for students. He gave out questions on the midterm and final so that was cool.
Despite what others may say about Peter, he is an awesome professor if you are/are not an Econ major. Extremely clear on topics, leaves plenty of time for review, and simplifies it as much as possible. Took this class previously with him and received an A (been told its one of the harder econ courses) would definitely recommend.
Peter Tracey is an economic god. His teaching methods are excellent. He is always able to use real world examples and explains everything perfectly. He does not try to trick you on the final exam either. He is always willing to talk to you. He is the best professor I have had to date. Strongly recommend.
2 assignments and 1 midterm all semester which were pretty much a joke because of how easy they were. Definitely recommend if you are taking ECON
The legend of Peter Tracey lives on, what a beauty! Took 203 with him and it was super easy, 303 is even easier... He's an amazing professor, you understand the concepts even before you start studying for his exams. If you're looking for a senior option take this course!! Seriously, you will not be disappointed.
I've never had a professor who structured his notes so well. I was able to re-write all of my notes within 3 days of the final exam, so when I took the test it was essentially just an extension of the notes. I learned a ton and enjoyed myself while doing it.
Very friendly; answers all questions; teaches extremely well (goes at a slow pace but covers everything very quickly). He expects students to be respectful, which is supposed to be common sense (don't talk during his class please). A lot of people say his final exam is difficult, but if you read the textbook and go to class you'll be good.
He goes at a really good speed for teaching and doesn't rush at all. Classes will end on-time or sometimes even before. He is funny and just a great prof.
Great professor, tells you everything you need to know on the exams. His classes are very enjoyable and theres absolutely nothing difficult about them. If you attend his lectures you will easily come out with an A.
Great prof, exams were extremely easy and he tells you about 50% of the answer directly in class. Don't need either textbook, tests are straight from his lectures. Only downside is his marking rubric is very steep, 90 for an A-.
Super easy. I didn't so much as look at the textbook, went to all but one of the lectures, did a single practice test before the exam, and came out with an A. Nice course with a heavy course load.
Has a grumpy demeanour but is overall very nice and wants his students to succeed. If you like listening to old timey music and Taylor Swift before class, he's your man! Can be a little mean when you ask him questions. LISTEN TO EVERYTHING HE SAYS, HE WILL NOT HELP YOU IF YOU WERE NOT PAYING ATTENTION. Demands a lot of respect, but deserves it.
Tracey is a good prof that provides clear explanations. His notes are really good and condensed as it summarizes each chapter very well. The midterm and assignments are easy.Do SUPER well on them or the final would be a pain, as it was only two hours long with 90 questions. He could be grumpy at times, but his dry humour lightens up the class a lot.
I can't imagine that someone could explain better than Tracey
I was not a big fan of Peter Tracey at all. He avoids explaining the meaning of anything, but avoids complaints by basically giving students easy A's. Take him if you have no interest in economics and want to get in and get out. If you actually want to learn something, he is awful.
Easy class, however he doesn't take criticism very well when you appeal your exams or assignments to him. To him xy=fc is not the same as x=(fc)/y
This class was EASY. Do not bother buying the textbook, his notes will be all you need for this class. Solid professor but a big warning for econ majors, do not take this or ECON 301 with him as he teaches only to the final, taking him will destroy you in higher classes further up. Was very clear on final, midterm and assignment expectations.
BEST PROF EVER!! all you have to do is go to class, he writes down notes for you, is extremely funny and clear and straight forward. you will not regret him. he has a reputation for being the best econ prof
Peter teaches the bare minimum. When studying for the final I found it difficult to understand some concepts as he had provided little to no explanation in class. Overall, he makes the class very easy, but I find his finals to be a lot harder than one might think, given the degree of easiness experienced throughout the semester
Tracey is honestly one of the best profs i have had for econ 203. This is the first time I've ever had him, and yes he condenses the material pretty briefly. For the final I studied Tracey's notes, the slides from the textbook website, and the econ study guide to the textbook. His final I felt was fair if you study, you will get a good mark.
Tracey is a very easy professor and teaches the bare minimum. Lectures are generally dull, but concepts are easy to understand and they are taken straight from the textbook. It takes minimal effort to get an A in his class.
If you attend class often, you will like Tracey as he explains the concepts thoroughly. I've taken a few classes with him now and I've learned not to trust what he says is "exam material" and what isn't. You'll have to do problems on your own time as he'll never work through any in class, just concepts. If you're okay with this, Tracey is great.
Exams are easy! Only materials from his notes and he gave about 15/100 exact questions and answers for the final.
Easy A! Only two questions on midterm and 3 questions on final, he will tell you the questions are on which topics and one of the final question was exactly the same as the one on assignment, so you basically need to study for the 3 questions. You must have his notes and his examples!
His notes are important, especially his example! If you understand his examples, then you will be fine for the exams! 3 questions on the final and 1 was exactly the same on assignment and the other two were similar to his examples!
Tracey is the best econ prof out there. Although this course gets tricky, he really helps you by simplifying the notes. ATTEND CLASS & DON'T USE THE TEXTBOOK.
Mr. Tracey is a great guy who just wants students to pass his class. If you attend lectures and study the material he emphasizes you should have no problem getting anything above a B
His expectations for testing and assignments are super clear, which is what makes him a great instructor. Class is WAY more important than the textbook, and his class examples often show up verbatim on tests. The second assignment showed up word for word on the final in both classes I took with him. Textbook is good for supplementary theory.
Didn't need the textbook at all! Attending class is extremely helpful as everything is based off of what was covered in class. Easy assignments (guaranteed 100%) and fairly easy midterm. Make sure to go into the final with a high mark. Provides quite a few answers in class.
He explains the content extremely well and gives you answers to the exams. The assignments are not that simple, but you can look up the answers online. I read all the textbook chapters suggested before exams, but the lectures cover almost everything. He is definitely one of the best teachers I know!
Mr. Tracey is very good in explaining the concepts and examples in lectures!! Very clear but I don't feel that he prepares you for upcoming future things but he is decent
I like understanding the principles behind a theory and Tracey doesn't teach that. He gives you the basics that you need to pass, not necessarily what you need to succeed. Contrary to everyone else, none of his courses have been easy for me (B to B+s in all 3) so make sure you read the textbook and attend class because he is sassy!
I found him to be alright -- not the best but not the worst either. He would give you the basic knowledge to do well in the course as well as some answers to exam questions. However hardly anyone finished the midterm exam because we had so little time to write it and the final was also very difficult. He is a very nice guy though.
Professor Tracey is a fantastic individual. If you show him respect (cell-phones off, no talking), you will succeed. Show respect and he will literally go over exam questions prior to an examination. Highly recommend.
The best easy teacher.
Tracey is the best prof and the class is very easy as long as you attend class
Professor Tracey is easily the greatest professor to learn economics from. He has an excellent spin on the typically boring content, and a vast amount of experience. If you attend class, he will ensure that you not only pass the exams, but do exceptionally well.
Pete is a really good professor. He goes over the bare minimum material that you need to know for midterms and finals however. If you are a student that likes to know why things are the way they are, Prof. Tracey might not be for you. He also does not like cell phone use in class and will get angry if there is not complete silence during lectures.
Tracey is the best professor in the entire department. His assignments are straight forward and as long as you understand them, you will be prepared for the final. His exam prep is awesome as well, he really really tries to help. As long as you work hard and respect him, he will help you. Do yourselves a favor and take him for 357!
Peter Tracey is the man. He pumps sick beats before lecture, makes fun of current celebrities and makes old people jokes. He makes learning enjoyable and this course really isn't hard. His lectures are skippable IF you intend to read the book and learn for yourself. But he basically went over 60% of the ACTUAL Final in the last 2 weeks of lecture.
Peter Tracey is one of the best profs of all time in U of C!! Straight forward&very clear lectures. Follow his instructions in lectures and come to his review lectures and you will do really well in his class :)
Very interesting course with a great prof. He tought money and banking in very great way!! He does review lectures before exams ,goes over some actual exam questions and gives answers which helped out in doing well in exam and course overall. Highly recommend this course
Amazing prof! He's here to help. He wants you to do well and his lectures are crystal clear. If you attend the lectures you will pass. GO TO THE REVIEW CLASSES. He can be really funny too but he doesn't play games when you break one of his rules. Hide your phone. Try to get into his class ASAP because the wait list usually doesn't budge.
Peter Tracey, I know you read these, so hopefully you see this before the end of the semester. I've noticed you like to play music before each class. It'd be great if you could please crank up Rock and Roll by Led Zeppelin. That would be awesome!!!!! :)
Great prof, take his course if you have the option
This class was an easy A with Tracey. Gives lots of bonus marks.
He's a great prof, know his stuff, is hilarious and always finishes class early. Starts class with music. However, his final was actually difficult, which was deceiving considering when he taught everything seemed simple until you had to do an assignment or a test. You should read the textbook bc he puts random questions from stuff in the book.
totally awesome prof. attend his review sessions cause he gives you the answers. his classes are good in that econ isnt boring. his assignments and exams are fair. be good and he gives free marks to the class! doesnt post notes online.
I don't recommend taking ANY courses with Tracey if you intent to study higher level economies. It is not hard to get an A+ in his courses, but you will learn nothing and ultimately pay the price in later courses.
Even though he's an amazing prof, but it's very easy to get sidetracked by his monotone voice. He writes notes and doesn't post them on D2L, so go to class. Assignments and midterm were very fair, and lets you out of class early when he's done with the material for the class. WOULD RECOMMEND HIGHLY
I hope Peter doesn't retire before I am able to take another course with him. Clear with what is needed, doesn't waste time. Any student that doesn't respect or think he is hilarious are just idiots. Very generous in giving tips about the midtermfinal as well as rewarding students with extra marks for any mistakes he makes.
If you have to take econ, take it with Tracey. He makes it as interesting as possible and is genuinely helpful.
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dr Tracey has a wicked old folk sense of humour and he makes class entertaining with his rants. He gives out answers for exams and assignments so you gotta go to class!! Didnt do as well as I would've liked on the final because it was at 8am on the very first day of exams so there wasnt enough time to study.
Good prof, but it is time for him to retire. He is getting too old to even think straight when it comes to telling us how things are graded, and what to expect on the final and midterm, a lot of contradictions here. Also I found him to be rude and arrogant at times. Other than that, if he sticks around any longer, I do recommend, he knows econ well
He is a great teacher, if you go to class he'll give you test answers which either calms you, or makes you lazy. He is a minimalist teacher, meaning he'll provide the punch line for a concept but not necessarily break it down. You'll do well depending on your learning style. This course is tougher than 201 and requires some reading to get it.
Easy midtermsassign. Went into final with 100 but final is worth 50% and is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. Pretty high scale for an A too. Didn't do as well as I hoped because of this. Gives out some exam questions ahead of time which is nice. Only chance to ask for help is during class. After class and things sent in email aren't really responded to.
FINAL WAS BRUTAL!
Tracey is hilarious but he teaches you the very minimal. He doesn't go into depth or expand on important concepts. I felt like there was a huge discrepancy between the easiness of lectures and assignments and the difficulty of the final. If you plan on taking senior econ courses, don't take Tracey for introductory ones, you won't know anything.
If you have common sense, you'll probably get an A. I however, do not have this common sense. He gives out some midterm and final answers out in class. In fact, some midterm questions ended up being on the final! He only teaches the basic rudimentary understanding of concepts so I don't recommend him for if you're going to study ECON in the 300 lvl
taken: summer '15 7 week course; goes through chapters fast - given that i took a 16 week course in 7 weeks- but even then makes sure everything is understood before moving on and loves when you ask questions. gives great lectures, tests after every ch. uses mathxl. umulative final. He knows his math!!
He is very detailed in his class notes and makes it very clear what to expect on the midterm and final. Attending class is critical!
Tracey is a absolute gem. Having taken ECON 201, 203 last year and now 301 and 365 this year I can say that he is my favourite professor. He is to the point and gives you everything you need to pass. Attend his class, take notes, and you will be fine. Sometimes he can be slow but use it to your advantage. A+ Tracey!
Very easy A prof! Hilarious and clear on grading criteria. Pretty interesting material.
Very easy A prof! Hilarious and clear on grading criteria.
Very good lectures, with clear notes. textbook not required. Only had one midterm and he goes through a couple questions during class. Go to each class and copy his notes and its an easy class
GIVES EXAM TEST QUESTIONS!Tests questions pulled off of the internet, so, just search up ECON 201 midterm. His assignments are on Mindtap now, so you gotta purchase that. He will say that the access code is on the course outline, but he means the URL to purchase. BEST ECON TEACHER, guaranteed A but go to class to get exam questions.
This prof is amazing. He is clear on what he expects. Definitely go to class. He knows how to teach and I'd take his class over again and again! I can't stress enough how good he is
What can you say that hasn't been said. Tracey is an Econ God.
Absolutely zero practice on D2L. If you miss the notes in class there are no slides posted. No practice problems or suggested material to study for tests.
I didn't feel ECON is interesting until I took Tracey's course. He gives exam questions before exams. The most important is that he can explain everything in an easy way to make you understand. I really enjoyed the classes. Wish to take it again. Highly recommend!
Peter Tracey was an amazing professor. His lectures are clear and concise, however notes aren't posted to D2L, but the textbook we used was extremely easy to follow in case you needed to review something. He's hilarious in a self-aware grouchy old man way and he often gives information from the midterm/final ahead of time, sometimes even answers!
Great prof with super clear lectures. However, he will inflate your mark going into the final by giving easy assignments and easy midterm. BEWARE OF THE FINAL. Don't be lured into a false sense of security because that final was toooough. There aren't any practice problems or anything to help study for the final so know his review inside and out.
Pretty mediocre professor with terrible understanding of Economics. He's a decent enough guy, but your mark will get screwed on the final. I had 100% going in and only ended the class with a B+. Just not a good professor, overall.
Tracey is a great guy and have taken several classes with him. This year though, his teaching level has went down considerably not to mention the brutal final exams. Studied hard, went into the final with an A+ to end up with a B overall in the course.
Peter Tracey is an easy going professor, the midterms are easy, but the final can prove difficult if unprepared. Go to class, especially the review ones if you plan to skip, and then revise your notes at a later day. The final was fair, everything he taught in lecture was on the test. PREPARE FOR THAT FINAL. IT WON'T BE HARD IF YOU STUDY FOR IT.
Professor Tracey is a very funny guy. He is super helpful and tests are very easy. He gives exam questions in class so go to class for easy marks on the exams. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
Tracey is a great prof but I really didn't enjoy this class. I actually found it hard and there was too much to cover. He gives you extra marks and assignments are pretty-straightforward. Make sure you read the textbook because sometimes he doesn't cover a certain topic but it is still covered on the test. There was only 1 midterm and 1 final.
Professor Tracey is a wonderful teacher. He teaches you exactly what is needed for the midterm and the final. A few exam questions were done in class which was great. Assignments were a breeze, the final however can be tricky. I recommend reading the textbook if you are looking for an A.
Being a first year, having a Prof like Tracey made my semester. Take his class if at all possible! He's very understanding and clear in lecture, he cracks jokes and adds bonus marks when he feels like it. Something in his class that some might want to know is that he's an animal activist and shows a movie on some stuff. Also, turn off your phone ;)
Nothing I can say that hadn't been said... There final caught me off guard I just needed more time...
Very enjoyabe. Gives out answers to tests in class, and has also shown parts of the test in class. You should read the textbook as well, as he skips some material.
Awesome teacher for a class I was dreading. I don't like Econ or math and he made it really easy to understand. Actually gave word for word questions from the midterms to study so easy to get a good grade. Just go to class and write the exact notes he writes for you.
Really good prof as you've probably heard. Eased all us first years into university.
Mr. Tracey is crystal clear with his expectations. If you go to every class, take good notes and and review them well (plus read the textbook a little), then this class is a guaranteed A. The one thing is that he doesn't hold office hours, so you must ask them during class.
I took this course because everyone said Peter Tracey is the best economics prof. He is not. If you want a good grade and know exactly whats on the final, sure he is fantastic but you don't actually learn anything. He is quite condescending with his students and he is very very slow. The content of the course had nothing to do with the outline.
Fun times, just dont bring your phone :P
The midterms are relatively easy but the final is incredibly hard. Not an easy course, put some work in.
Excellent prof - tries to keep the class short and relevant. The midterm's are super easy so everyone goes into the final with a high mark -that being said, the final is extremely difficult (to bring the class average down) Ace the midterms so you don't have to stress TOO much about the final!Overall great prof! But NEVER bring your phone to class
He is unapproachable when it comes to asking questions but he is a decent prof. He basically hands out answers and its pretty hard to fail either of the midterms. However his final was brutal and kicked everyone. His notes are hard to look back on because there isn't much to them unless you write down every word that he says (kind of hard).
hes a funny guy and his lectures are quick. However once midterms come around his lectures are almost useless and you need to read everything in the textbook. For the final he put up literally no practice material which isn't that surprising because he doesn't even put his notes up online. He makes the cours easy and gives answers to tests in class
Loved Tracey! Sassy prof, but only if you give him stupid reasons to. Definitely knew his material very well and explained things clearly in an easy way to understand. Also gives test questions in class word for word, sometimes just hints, but definitely helpful. Attendance is a MUST though, as he doesn't post anything online. Made econ easy.
Dr. Tracey was very vocal and transparent about his expectations for the exams and the final. However if you do not understand a topic, don't bother asking him a question as he will simply repeat what you didn't understand or will begin to lose his patience relatively quick. Best econ prof? I think not.
Professor Tracey is a delight! He gives midterm and final questions away as well as hints, so go to class!! Midterms were easy but the final was pretty tough. Don't waste your time reading entire chapters for the final, just skim over it (mainly the graphs) and go over the lecture notes thoroughly and you'll do fine. I learned this the hard way.
Dr Tracey is what you expect in a great professor. He's clear in his explanations and fair in his tests. His lectures are interesting, informative, and a crucial part to doing well in this course. If you treat him with respect and turn off your phones he might give midterm and final questions to the class. The final is much harder than the midterms
Good Prof. Come to class and pay attention, you will pass. The best chances of acing this class is through the midterms. Ace them then you are good. Final will be hard! Skip class and you won't pass. He tells you some questions and answers that will come on the tests.
Midterms are easy! Final is very hard. Peter gives some answers for exams in class. If you skip, you won't pass. Good Prof, but inaccessible out of classrooms. Answers the questions asked in class only. Tough Final, totally different than the midterms. Midterms are more math based and final is a lot of theory.
Peter is simply a great prof. Does not seem to change his notes tho, had them from a few years back and he was writing the same stuff on the projector word for word. Make sure you go to lectures because he gives away test questions. Easy enough for non-business kids as well. Would recommend him for any econ class.
Peter Tracey is an awesome prof. Always get a laugh from him every class. Jot down more notes than what he writes, write down some of the things he says as when you go over the notes, graphs specifically, they can be quite blank. Easy midterms, the final was NOT hard, as long as you give yourself enough time to learn the graphs and what they mean.
His tests usually only have 20 questions which sucks because if you just got 2 or 3 wrong your mark drops a lot. Also his grading scale is higher than other econ profs so its harder to get an A. He claims he's easier than other profs because he gives away test questions but the questions he gives answers to are easy anyway so its pointless.
A great prof and lover :)
I love Peter! He has been extremely helpful and always makes time to see you outside of class if you need some extra help. He is very clear with his expectations on midterms and assignments. He will tell you exactly what will be on the tests so you can focus on studying specific content instead of multiple chapters . AMAZING PROF!
Peter Tracey is so genuinely caring. He really wants his students to pass and he really cares about what he's teaching. If you're struggling just go see him! He will help you out. Classes are a little dull, but he's so nice and funny you don't even notice.
Hilarious & genuinely caring professor. Went over the types of things we saw on the final exam, but not in so much detail that it was a breeze - it was TOUGH, and required a really solid understanding of the material. Grading scale is pretty brutal (84-88% leaves you with a B+!), and 301 isn't an "easy A course", but take it with Peter if you can.
Peter is one of the best profs I've had in university - his lectures are incredibly great and he brings a really interesting and educational perspective to economics. He gives students all the tools to succeed and answers questions respectfully. Not to mention he is hilarious and engaging. I will be taking another class with him in the future.
If you're taking Econ 201/203, don't take any other prof but him. He's the besssst.
HES A GOD
You won't regret taking his class.
Awesome guy, goes through practice questions and actually helps you prepare for the midterm
He is great at teaching and goes over everything before tests and assignments. Really recommend to take a class with tracey!
Loved taking a class with Tracey. He goes through everything you need to know. Also is really funny.
You have to go to lectures to get notes and know what is going on. But his tests and assignments are extremely fair if you go to class and pay attention, he may even give hints and help. Love a fair and funny prof.
Best prof ever. take this class if u want to get an easy A. he gives 2 practice midterms which are worth 50% in total and he puts the same questions in the actual test. the guy is a legend. the final is a bit harder but thats probably cause the class average going into it was 90%
Pay attention in class, write notes, and put your cellphone away, you'll ace it.
Great Prof. His lectures are extremely useful. If you don't go to class you'll have trouble with certain concepts as he sometimes teaches things differently from the textbook. Would recommend taking a class with him.
Hilarious prof, take Econ only with him!! Super helpful with exam material.
Seriously the easiest Econ class ever and Peter some how makes econ interesting.
Tracey is far by the best Econ prof! You can pass this class without going to class as long as you get the notes from one of your friends because he doesn't post notes online. He usually gives out free answers to the final exam and midterms. If you take this class with him, it's an easy A.
In the words of this great man. "Booo!! Shame!!!!" - Peter Tracey Tracey is one of the most respected proffs at the U of C and makes ECON interesting. Coming from someone who hates anything related to numbers I'd take his courses in a heartbeat. If you're going to the U of C and need ECON for your degree, there is no other choice but Tracey.
Peter Tracey sure knows how to make the class interesting. You had to attend his class to do well. He gave out questions to his midterms so memorize them. The final is non-cumulative yet brutal. It was nowhere as easy as his midterms. Study your butt of if you want to preserve that 4.0 after the final.
Tracey is a great prof if you're looking for easy marks. He gives out exam questions (final and midterm) like candy and throws free marks at you. I really enjoy his class because of this and that he usually ends early but still covers all the course material. He is very understanding and nice. He hates cellphones.
Tracey is one of the best professors I have ever had at the University. The entire term is enjoyable, his teaching style makes it very easy to learn the material. He doesnt reference the textbook almost at all during the term, so it was not needed. But beware of his final exam, it was nothing like the midterm.
In my opinion the best economics prof you can get. You have to attend class as he will not post lecture notes but if you do attend expect easy to learn notes, clear funny examples and a professor that understands his students. Listen to him as he literally gives test questions away, pay attention and write down anything he says.
no homework, no online code needed. I got a B because I stopped going to class after the first midterm. I believe it you go to every class, you sure will get an A.
He is the best! He is so funny and makes class fun. He doesn't give assignments though, so your grade is only the midterms and final. His final is so hard, but aside from that the class was good.
He's da real MVP
Peter Tracey is so genuine. Other words to describe him? A god, a gift, a gem. He cares about the class and cares about what he's teaching. Show up to class!! He wants to see that you're engaged and care about it too! Also the cutest: brought in a poster for an event his wife was holding, wanted to go because it was so adorable
Best teacher super clear about everything giving goos examples, really sets you up for all your exams. Super funny as well.
Best prof I've had in uni. If you have the chance to take Tracey for any econ class at all, do it! I've taken a couple classes with him now and have not missed a lecture. He makes you want to be there and makes even dry content interesting. I have all the respect in the world for Dr. Tracey and highly recommend. Read the reviews!
One of the best profs, show up to lectures, pay attention, and read the book and get a Easy A.
Amazing teacher. I cannot stress how great Tracey is. If you show up to class and take the notes, you are golden. He is straight forward and willing to help you after class if you don't get something. He will do multiple examples of math problems to maximize learning. Tests/assignments are derived from the examples. no one better than Tracey!!
The only Econ prof who will make you want to go to lectures. Uses great examples that are clear and concise, and the bonus is that those exact examples will reappear on midterms/final. He also doesn't make you buy mindtap which is a bonus!
Mr. Tracey will treat you as well as you treat him. If you show up for class, pay attention to what he says, and write down the notes he provides, he'll go out of his way to help and you will do fine. If your idea of attending class is sitting on Facebook or chatting with friends, expect to be called out and not get a lot of sympathy.
Best Professor in Canada and one of the best in North America, you don't even need to try you just have to listen to his lecture for about 40min every class, they are engaging.
Peter tracey is one of the best profs ive ever had at the university, his humor enlightens the mood every lecture, and makes the course interesting
Greatest of all time. Although Economics gets extremely hard in the 300/400 levels, this prof makes it clear as crystal for his students :) Class attendance is however mandatory, and just reading the book is no good
SO GOOD! He wants you to do well in this course. Always has time for questions and makes sure you are very prepared for exams
Tracey is the best. He tells you what is on exams, and he's really organized. Barely used the textbook, don't buy it. All the hype is right - the full U of C experience requires a class with Tracey.
He gives us pretty much free marks and goes over the some of the midterm before we take it.
Best prof. If you have the chance, take a course with him
Peter Tracey is one of the best professors I have ever had. He makes class enjoyable by making jokes and has funny lectures. He gives away a lot of hints for upcoming tests and goes through examples. As long as you attend the lectures and put some work into the class you will pass no problem!!
Favourite prof! I look forward to his classes. He really cares that you do well, and gives you everything that you need to succeed
Tracey is amazing! If the quality of teaching was as high as Tracey's in all u of c classes, u of c would be the new Harvard.
WOULD ANYONE LIKE TO A ASK A QUESTION ?
His one of the best profs at the uni. His midterm and assignments are pretty straightforward, but I have to say his finals are on the more difficult side. You do have to attend class however as he goes by his notes.
One of the best profs ever! And don't listen to people the final isn't hard at all if you study from the notes he gives in class
The hype is NOT real. He is an okay prof. Midterms and assignments are easy until you hit final RIP
I have taken many courses with him and trust my word he is only good for 200 courses and not the main 300 courses (options are okay for him). You wont learn much and will suffer if you take your main 300 courses with him later in you econ degree.
He is an amazing professor and you should try your best to get him! He uses a lot of important/relevant examples so come to class! You can ace it as long as you show up, pay attention and take notes. If he says something is on a test, make a note cause he doesn't lie! He does a lot of test questions in class as well. He gives away some answers too!
Peter is a great prof. His notes are very concise and he literally only tells you what will be on the tests, so everything he writes down is important. If you understand the notes, you'll be fine
He comes across as a curmudgeonly old dude, but he's actually hilarious as long as you are respectful during class. He says you don't really need the textbook, but read it - it helps you better understand the concepts that he covers in the notes. Easy midterms, very tough final. Warning: Stay off your phone!
Peter is a great prof and makes boring Econ seem interesting. Make sure you go to class, because he only tests off of what he teaches. He also covers things not in the textbook. Beware on his tests, I find his instructions very vague and a little confusing.
Peter is probably one of the best profs I've ever had. He is very funny, and makes econ fun. GOOOO to class because he gives out answers to the final. Midterms should be an easy A, since he gives out the questions beforehand. The final was tough so make sure you study enough for it. Good luck!
Tracey is my most favourite professor at the university. He is amazing, funny and wants his students to do well!
Best classes I've taken are with Tracey. Wish he could teach everything! Really nice, friendly and has amazing lectures.
loved the class and the lectures! looked forward to this class. Tracey is the best most generous professor!
Best prof you could ever take for an Econ course. He made a subject matter I hated with a passion and made it my best class with his clear, precise notes and dry sense of humor. Just make sure you go to class and take notes because they won't be posted on D2L. There's 2 leniently marked written assignments + 1 midterm + 1 final.
Peter is grumpy, but is actually a great prof. His lectures cover what you need to know and he is very clear in lecture. He isn't the most patient guy, but as long as you attend class and pay attention you will be fine. Beware that the final is much more difficult than the painfully easy midterm!
Such a good prof! Understands that most people take Econ to raise their GPA and helps them with that
He tells you exactly what to study and what will be on the tests if you show up to his lectures. Just go to class and youll get an A.
This man is a living legend. Has an extreme level of understanding for what students are going through, so although you do learn lots in class, he makes it very fair and is known to end classes early on Fridays. Wonderful man - he has expectations, and if you do what he says you will do great. No ambiguity. I would follow this man into war
Thought the class was going to be an easy A as it was supposed to be for years. There's a lot of concepts and graphs to remember and Tracey doesn't give out practice questions. He helps give hints on what the assignments will be and a guideline of how to answer. Make sure you attend classes because he posts nothing online and doesn't reply to email
Tracey is a blast to have as a professor! He's always open to questions if you don't understand. It is tough to NOT do well in this course as long as you show up to class. He will provide questions similar to those on midterms and the finals, even questions directly from the test. I didn't open my textbook once so don't bother buying it.
Look at all these first years inflating this guy's rating on here, must be because he gives out free A's to everyone in 201. He is okay for the 200 level courses, but as others have mentioned, he teaches the bare minimum. Avoid if you plan on taking senior level econ classes, feel like I lost out by taking him for 201 and 203 as an econ major.
The final was extremely hard and he gave out no study tools and did the bare minimum of review for the final, leaving out a lot of key concepts. very funny to listen to and tries hard but for a final worth 50% of the grade he needs to better prepare his students. also he does not post notes online.
Stopped reading the textbook halfway through the semester bc you really only need to go to class to know what you need to know in the course. Midterm is aight but the final is really hard. Tracey lets you know what will be on the finals/midterms but he also was seemed very condescending when answering student's questions!
Tracey gives concise lectures about what he wants you to know, but you might want to read the textbook beforehand since it feels like there's no context behind his teaching. The final was hard, but it's just because it tested literally everything he taught. If you really understand how to do everything he teaches in lecture, you'll do well.
Best 201 prof. I hardly put in any work into the class because he handed out test answers like there's no tomorrow, made the class interesting and explained things in a way there was no way you could not know what was going on. I spent a fraction of the time my friends did in this class (they had a different prof) and finished with a higher grade
made the final way too hard! gave no practice questions or study tools. Very boring to listen to, puts the class to sleep and very dry notes, barely touching the topic, yet tested on every detail on the final. He is always angry/grumpy, was very cheesed the entire semester at students for no reason. Showed disrespect to many of us during lecture.
Peter Tracey was a pretty good prof. His exams are purely based on lectures so attendance is mandatory and the textbook isn't required despite the fact that it helps to solidify concepts. The final is the only challenging part of the course, and extensive studying is needed to prepare for it. If I studied more, I probably could have managed an A.
Tracey gets a lot of hype and I feel it's partially deserved. His lectures are simple to understand and to the point. However, HE TEACHES TO THE BARE MINIMUM. Excellent lecturer, BUT TO THE BARE MINIMUM he'll teach. You WILL NEED the textbook to succeed. Very easy assignments/midterm with a very hard beefed up final. Study with the textbook.
Very disappointed with this course. Yes, his lectures are simple to understand and his notes are clear. However, he's very lazy. No practice problems/final was posted to prepare for a very difficult test. If I hadn't read the textbook, I would've done far worse on the final. In addition, he's very arrogant when you challenge a grade. Take Schlenker
Tracey is an amazing professor, and genuinely wishes his students to be doing well in class. His in-class notes help with studying for the final and the midterm. If you study the study guide notes given by Tracey you will ace the final, the final exam is a little tricky but if you study you will be fine.
His notes are really simple and he teaches you the bare minimum to do good on the test. I wish he could've went more in depth with the material. To do well, you just have to read the textbook and takes notes from it. Overall, he is a decent prof but can be a great prof If he spent for time going in depth with the material.
The lectures are straightforward and its easy to understand but Tracey teaches the bare minimum. To do well you'll have to read the textbook and find practice quizzes/test online (he doesn't post any practice tests). The assignments and midterm are super easy if you go to the lectures but the final is brutal and its worth 50%.
Tracey was a good prof, none of his notes are online so you have to attend his lectures to get them as he teaches some of the concepts in different ways. He explains concepts slowly and in a simple way making them easier to understand. Downside being that exam questions were a little more in depth and he doesn't supply practice questions.
Did the bare minimum in class yet the final was incredibly hard. Was a good prof for econ 201 but regret taking him again for 203.
I've had Tracey for both Econ 201 and 203, receiving an A+ in both courses. I really like Tracey's clear teaching style. His lectures can seem slow at times, but that's because he respects the fact that not everyone may be up to speed on certain concepts (like algebra). He is a very caring prof at heart and wants people to do well. Read the book!
LOVE PETER TRACEY!! He is the best prof I had in my whole university experience. He helps students out remarkably and is well respected.
He is unlike any other prof that I have ever had. When he is working on something complicated, he does not make you sit there and listen for 50 minutes. He dismisses you early sometimes so he doesn't force info into your head. He makes you write down a lot but I found it useful because studying becomes easy & gives answers for assignments in class
I have always struggled with economics but Tracey made it super easy for me. Just need to pay attention in his lectures and take notes.
Peter Tracey lives up to the hype. He's a fantastic prof that really cares as long as you care. If you show up to class, pay attention, and ask questions you will succeed in his class. He made challenging content easy to understand and apply. He's quirky but an absolute gem and will keep you on your toes when taking note ;) (occasionally messes up)
He is a good prof, he made the lecture material seem quite simple. However, he always puts questions on his finals which are not in the class notes so you're going to have to read the textbook. He always tells you that as long as you read the notes you'll do good but that isn't true. Make sure you read the textbook, especially before the final!!
This is an easy class, but to get an A, you literally need to get 100% on everything. Also he is getting very old, he makes you copy down everything on a projector for most of the lectures and most of them are irrelevant to the final exam. The structure for this class is disorganized, pieced from other econ courses, very little with actual law
Noice hat. Noicer music
The class wasn't too difficult in terms of the content that was covered, however he grades only using letter grades opposed to percentages. Because of this, the grading on exam questions can seem skewed or unjustified. For example, you'll see 2 check marks on a question and then the letter B written beside it with no justification for that letter.
He always ends lectures early and loves playing loud music at the start of class. Don't be fooled by his appearance, he's there for a great time too! Only 2 assignements and has no filter.
If you attend all the lectures without fail, you will 100% get the mark that you deserve. Although if you start skipping class/not paying attention the 2 assignments and midterms really catch up to you. Although he kinda seems rough around the edges at the beginning of the semester as time goes on he became my favourite professor so far.
Awesome prof. He understands that the class has a lot of non-econ majors and thoroughly explains the econ concepts so everyone understands. He tells you what is on the midterm and final exam. He doesn't post notes so going to class is a must. The chapter assignments help you understand the class topics and prepare for the midterm and final.
Just a splendid professor.
Terrible prof. He's fine for 201 but if you're an econ major, avoid for 300-level courses. He doesn't have a clear grading criteria (assigns letter grades without explanation), doesn't post notes online and doesn't explain through the materials. Exams are tough and contain questions not found in the lectures. AVOID!!
Go to classes and pay attention, especially in the Review sessions as he does exam questions. Overall very good prof.
Any class with PT is pretty much a GPA booster. However, no notes on D2L so class is mandatory and gets boring. He plays music before every class and finishes his lecture 10-20 min early literally every day. Pretty much haven't done anything all year and I have an A+.
The Legend
He is funny, inspirational, very good at explaining things, and his lecture notes are super clean. On the flip side, he is extremely condescending. I'm not usually afraid to ask questions in class but I'm too scared to even open my mouth in his lectures. If you have questions, always consult the textbook or your peers first.
had him for econ 203. he's a funny prof but dont expect much from his lecture notes. they won't help you for your assignments and they definitely wont help for your final. your better off reading the textbook instead of going to his lectures.
Absolute beauty!
Peter Tracey is very entertaining and I enjoyed being in his lectures. However, his lecture notes are messy and he has ZERO practice questions or extra resources. Also the textbook has no answers to the practice questions! With a, I quote, "very hard final" worth 50% are the easy assignments worth it? Probably not
He is a really funny guy and tries very hard. His lectures are heavy with notes and he doesn't post them. He gives you answers to the final at the end of the semester. He really likes his hates, hates when people slam doors, hates when people take pictures in class, and hates when people talk in class. He's a g don't make fun him, he tries.
Peter is such a sweet man, I loved his class and wish I had him for more econ classes, he genuinely wants you to succeed but also to leave his class with life skills that apply outside of the classroom. Such a good man and deserves a presidential medal
Final was very hard and lack of review material made it so that even if you went to all the lectures, you were left in the dark for the final exam. AVOID WRITTEN SECTION. If you take the written section with Peter Tracey you are likely to have your average drop around 30% after the final.
Overrated due to his reputation. Lectures are entertaining but not super helpful. Notes are all handwritten and not that great. Zero practice resources or questions given aside from the assignments (and those topics aren't even on final). However final was not as hard as its hyped up to be. Pretty fair exam.
Peter Tracey is the funniest prof you will ever have. 11/10 take his class. Overall it isnt a hard course but you need to attend every lecture or youll fail. He teaches out of the textbook so you cant just read the text and expect to pass. He will also give you tons of direct questions from the final in class. His lectures are comedy every day.
He is hilarious and his lectures are clear and concise for first year Econ courses.
Tracey has a good reputation, but that's not a good reason to take a class with him. While he gives out exam questions directly to you and his bonus marks are helpful, those are futile when his grading scheme is crazy. What should be a B+ is a B- and that screws you over massively at the end of the day. Great guy but mediocre prof at best.
A really good prof. His notes are helpful and going to lectures is a must, but for the most part, reading the textbook is the key to getting additional information and more thorough explanations - only thing that was tough was bonds and options since it wasn't in the text. Extremely funny and for the final, READ THE TEXTBOOK!
Best Econ class I ever took. It was really interesting and easy to follow.. I recommend you to take this class during spring if it's offer. Go to class and you will easily pass the midterm and the final!
I just wanted to say I took eCoN 203 wITh pETeR tRacY and I loved it.
Econ 203 was mandatory for me. The level of disrespect I got form him was unbelievable. Papers/midterm were easy but the final was ridiculous, most kids failed. When I approached him with my accommodation letters he refused to accept them. Older mindset, says kids who don't show up are just lazy. I guess my medical condition is a joke to him
Best prof ever
Peter is a good person (I had him for 203) but I found that he is a better 203 professor than he is a 303 professor. With the new rule change for the grading scales within all econ classes now, his grading scale is very difficult and I'm worried about his final exam for 303.
Best Econ Prof. Straight forward and easy to follow along. Go to classes and you will do very well on all aspects of the course.
Love him
Best prof Ive had. The tests are fair, hes very clear and helpful on what will be expected. Also hes hilarious in lecture. Dont be on your phone or youll be called out. If youre in lecture, take notes and listen and youll do well.
His final exam literally ruined my career path in economics. Thanks for letting me switch my major, you and your awful final with minimally taught notes and no textbook use. He was legit the cause for my depression and made me re-think my career path even though I tried very hard. I finished with an A in 301 and that's supposed to be the harder one
Most students who have had Tracey rate him highly because in 203 he plays music at the start of class, cracks jokes, gives away answers to the final, and ends classes early. I see why those who only take 203 as a GPA booster like him. However, his minimal teaching doesn't set you up for long-term success in ECON, & in 303 his grade scale is rough.
Best prof I've ever had
His random quips and asides are entertaining, I'll give him that. However, students who take ECON 203 thinking that it will boost their GPA should be aware - the Economics department has adopted a new grading policy. This is the only class I've ever taken where 90% has been curved to a B. Kind of destroyed my willpower to do well, to be honest.
He is really good at teaching and does a lot of review for the final. Attending lectures is so important. I don't think a textbook is necessary.
No practice questions to prepare for exams at all especially for bonds which weren't in the textbook nor on the assignments and turns out there were at least 6 questions on the final on bonds. The only thing he provides are his messy lecture notes which aren't even that great. He doesn't actually even give out answers to the final, just asignments
Where do I start... this man gets meaner and meaner the older he gets. He doesnt care about passing his students. Very harsh with tests, will never give you partial credit on a test or exam, expect to get an F on the entire question. I had to take him to the Economics dean of arts!! I ultimately won and I got a better grade on my final exam.
best prof ever. who ever doesn't like him has something out for him. show up to class and pass with an A. very understanding, kind, caring. every prof should be like him. he is amazing. have taken about 3 classes with him and loved him in all of them.
Most students who gave PT these high rating are only cuz he starts off class with loud music, jokes, gives out a few answers, ends early. Notes not so great, no practice questions. He was being disrespectful when I tried to inform him about a bug made by the SAS for the midterm start and endtime, didn't even try and listen. He is rude and grumpy
Most overrated prof I've ever had. I took his class thinking he must be a really good prof. But coming to every class of his, he made things a lot harder compared to my 201 prof. Messy notes that he wouldnt post on d2l, yet would get irritated when I'd take pics of the screen since he'd go too fast. Doesn't even post study questions to practice.
Worst prof ever!!
He apparently only willing to teach at the bare minimum so no wonder he will just give away a few answers, which they do not help much. I asked him why doesn't he provide any practice questions and he responded saying "would u rather have a prof who'd give away answers or practice questions?" and I said to his face I'd go with the 2nd option.
Ended up doing a minor Talking every possible class with this professor
