Good professor, explains things with clarity. Will explain more in depth if needed. Young guy who's easily approachable. I recommend taking him if its an option.
Good: He knows his stuff very well, won't waste your time. And he's well spoken. Bad: He rushes through his notes to the point where he isn't even teaching. I know it's bad teaching to rush because you can look at MIT or Berkeley professors on YouTube and they go slow. So, speed /= good teaching. It isn't because I'm slow, I get A's in the class.
Overall he's a pretty good professor. He gives you an easy quiz at the beginning of every class, which is good because it forces you to always be on top of knowing the material. The commons can be very difficult. The class overall is very difficult. Probably the hardest math at NJIT. But that's irrelevant to the teaching ability of Prof. Ward.
Professor Ward is one of the few down to earth professors at NJIT. He's a pretty cool guy who's really good at explaining the course material. I liked that he would always take time before, during, or after class to answer homework related questions. I also liked that he gave opportunities to receive extra credit, which most teachers don't do.
Professor is very helpful and explains everything until everyone is on the same page. Go to him during office hours if your stuck on something or even do problems and he will help you. One of the best math professor Ive taken so far at NJIT. that knows his stuff and teaches it well.
The problem is that Calc IIIB has so much material that the professor rushed at times, and I felt as if I was playing catch-up throughout the semester. Ward was a good professor, and really the only thing that bothered me was that he wrote every tiny inconsequential thing (such as "5+0" instead of just "5").
One of the best Professor at NJIT. He is great teacher. I would like to take a course with him if i found one. His lectures are always interesting and explanation of every new material was so clear all the time. He always there for help and for me he is so inspirational. If we have all professor like him we than we can learn heard stuff better n
Great professor, nobody explained math to me better than he did, show up to class, do the homework and practice, he's ready to help you if you show him you care. This guy made me love math, after I used to hate it, because he made everything simpler and understandable!!
There are so many examples. Each concept gets plenty of examples then he answers any remaining questions that you have right before the weekly quiz. His quizzes require you to work really fast but you can do it. This is a good professor.
Peter Ward is a really good professor. He gives a lot of examples, he may go fast at times, but he reviews before the exam. He gives weekly quizes which can be though, but it prepares you for the common. He is very down to earth, and if you need help and cannot make his office hours he will try to make time for you. Would take again
I had to drop Calc I the first time I took it. This time with Ward, I am more than doubling my common grades from the first time. He is a great Prof! He actually explains and proves every theory. He does NOT have an accent. If you can take him, you will do well as long as you pay attention.
he's a good teacher his in class quizzes are hard overall great teacher really prepares you for the exam
He is a really great teacher and is very easy to understand. He know's what he is doing and he is a very fair grader with quizzes. Definitely a very respectable person and I have really learned a lot from him.
By far the best professor I have had. This guy is actually one of the few professors that wants their students to succeed in their class. His grading is more than fair and he tells you what kind of questions will be on the common exams. He puts a lot of effort into teaching the class and always wants to help you. This guy is a god at teaching.
Great teacher. Makes sure everyone understands general idea of the lecture. Has flexible office hours, answers to all questions and gives extra help. Quizzes every week and excessive homework got me prepared for exams without any extra studying. If you do your work on time and reach for help if needed you can easily get an A. Highly recommend.
I had him for Calc 2, which is one the hardest class you'll take at NJIT. Professor Ward manages to keep the class from being excruciating, and while he's obviously really good at what he does he's still very human and not robotic like some math teachers. He's available if students need help too, which is always great.
Great communication with the students, very fair and hard working. Explains everything in solid detail and makes the course very understandable. Doesn't actually use text book in class but does reference it from time to time, so it helps to read it. Prof. Ward does make you work for your grade, but is probably one of the best profs you will find.
Professor Ward initially gave me an odd vibe, but I've come to find out that he's an amazing mathematician with a great interest in his subject. I look up to him greatly. He teaches the material fairly well. Math itself requires a lot of work, so be ready to work for it. He's a tough grader, but can be lenient. I'd definitely take him again.
Professor Ward is one of the best teachers I had. He uses a bit of theory, proving theorems. Very accessible during office hours. His grading is very fair. His weekly quizzes get you prepared for the common. Read the textbook examples before the quizzes because he might put one on a quiz.
Professor Ward was one of my favorite professors this semester. His class was very easy to follow and he makes sure his students understand the material. He gives quizzes weekly and even gave a quiz on the last day of class, but they actually help on the exam. He was also very good about homework, answering questions about it before class.
Professor Ward's barebones approach to Calculus gets you prepared for what lies ahead. His grading is strict and homework is plentiful, but ultimately you will be prepared for the commons. I am glad that I took Prof. Ward!
Professor Ward is very personable and wants to see you succeed. He will always help you to learn the material. His classes are very useful. They start with an introduction to the topic and then you do a bunch of examples to make sure you understand it. Very reasonable grader.
I had to take this class as pre-requisite for other course. The Prof. is very good and I think the best from choices available at NJIT at that time. The Calc 1 or 2 course at NJIT itself is unnecessarily too difficult. Try getting the credits for this class by doing it in some county college. Prof. Ward will guide and help but a strict taskmaster.
Best teacher I've had for any class so far at NJIT. Calc 2 is unnecessarily tough at NJIT, but he does a great job at making it understandable and was always available for one on one help if needed. Very understanding and sympathetic as well. If you can take him, take him.
Great guy
His strength is in explaining concepts. If you ask him why L'Hopital's Rule works, he can break it down and build it back up step by step in a clear and succinct manner. In other words, his explanations are easy to follow, therefore you can actually learn from him rather than youtube. That's how a professor should be.
Best math professor I've had at NJIT. Some people say diffEQ is hard but if you have Peter Ward he'll make everything really easy to understand. I always feel very prepared for the exams despite not studying as much as I would the exams in calc 3 and calc 2. His quizzes are fair and help you stay on top of the material
He's really nice and cool and okay with explaining things. Some stuff he doesn't explain that well. To get an A: do all the hw and make sure you know how to do it, take good notes and ask questions. He's really generous with grading, giving points when they were not deserved. Quizzes were a little tricky sometimes, but good as long as you prepare.
This guy is one of the best professors I have ever had throughout my entire education. He is real, a cool guy, teaches quick but efficiently and tells you exactly what to expect and what you need to know for the exams. Take him and your depression from NJIT math will instantly be cured!
Great professor! He's able to explain concepts in a way that makes Calc II a little easier than you expect. Gives weekly quizzes and they're a little tricky to be honest, so you gotta study for them. He prepares you well for the common exams and cares that his students are understanding the material.
Prof. ward is a great professor which is rare at this school. i would recommend him 10 out of 10 times to anybody taking math 213. His lectures are worked out on the board and for calc 3 he does a good job working in 3 dimensions. he is very clear and tells you exactly what to expect. he likes participation but just enough to not make u nervous.
Hands down the best math professor I have ever had. I have never met anyone that was able to explain things in such a clear and concise way. It's also very clear that he cares a lot about his students. He is very accessible during his office hours and does everything he can to make sure that every single person in class understands the material.
He is a good professor than others in the math department. He does examples on the board and explains the concept fully. Do not mess up on every week's quizzes. Quizzes are similar to Pearson's. Do not cheat while doing Pearson otherwise, you will struggle in the quiz. Hope he makes the commons or you will fail the exams. He like to test on concept
His weekly quizzes are quite hard, which is the only thing I can complain about. Otherwise, a great professor. The first half of Calculus III B is easy and the second half is hard. I'd recommend taking MATH 211 if you want to make your life easier.
He's a good professor, but he goes kinda fast and gets straight to the point quickly. Not the best for a class that's a bit confusing and is very conceptual, but I'm sure for other classes he's probably a better teacher.
HOW IS HE RATED SO HIGH???
Lecture is amazing and easy to understand. Homework is too long and not the same as the textbook. He gives different values that you will get an answer with weird radicals or fractions. Quiz are REALLY HARD. He makes them unlike other professor that just copy and paste a question from the textbook. Take for a challenge, otherwise, don't take him.
MATH279 is an easy A if you show up and pay attention. Prof Ward explains things clearly and he makes the homework very similar to the quizzes and exams.
Amazing professor! I had him during my first semester at NJIT. He was a real GEM!!!! I learned calculus for business in his class and he was super understanding and easy to understand. There are quizzes every other week and you needed to do homework assignments on Pearson. Honestly study and do the quizzes and prepare yourself for midterm/final.
Best math professor at njit hands down. Take him u wont regret it.
He is a good teacher. Goes over a ton of examples. Material was almost as hard as Calc 2 (math 112) in my opinion. Weekly quizzes
Never take him for online. Worst professor Ive ever had. Very inconsiderate of other students. Doesnt understand we pay for school. Fails most of the class.
Great professor but take his advice seriously. The class is really hard and he alone won't save you if you don't try, I would follow his camera requirement and try to do well on the homework and quizzes because they weigh a lot. Exams are hard with no partial credit, very questionable decision from the math department.
Can be a bit boring at times but mostly a good professor. MATH112 at NJIT is a very difficult course so you'll have to really work for this class.
Honestly a really good professor, if you do what you're asked you will most definitely pass. Quizzes are TUFF, make sure you do homework and study a lot. He is a good challenge, but was not what I was looking for. Good luck, 213 itself is a rigorous course.
213 is a hard class from the start, but the way Prof Ward explains each topic shows his deep understanding of the material. He explains everything in an extremely clear way & is a great guy outside of class. Quizzes are appropriately hard in order to prepare you for the exams. If you really want to learn calc 3, take him, you cant go wrong. Ty prof
He can be a little strict because he expects you to take the course as seriously as he does, but he cares a lot about the success of his students. His quizzes are difficult, but some of the questions are taken from previous exams–I did better on the exams because of how much I prepared for each quiz. Be prepared to participate and take notes!
I took prof Ward last sem, and he is easily one of the best math professors at NJIT. He explains calc 3 concepts so well and he really understands what he’s teaching. The quizzes are hard, but they set you up well for the exam. He really cares about his students, and the recent islamaphobic reviews are all fake, just someone mad they failed prob
During my freshman semester at NJIT, I had Professor Ward for Business for Calculus. He was the best professor ever and he knows what he is talking about. By far, one of the nicest and most dedicated professors to teach math. A couple of quizzes, one midterm, and final. Highly recommend him for any math class! Willing to help students out.
He is a good professor but his lectures are so heavy and he only shows 1 or 2 examples for each section and then moves on to the new topic. HIs quizzes and exams are soooo hard.
He is a professor that gives you all the help needed to pass the class with an A from day one. However mixed with the difficulty of the class, his quizzes can be very harsh but never unreasonable. Occasionally a chapter will be speedrunned, where the book is needed to make sure one does not fall behind.
His lectures are actually useful and relevant to the homework problems, quizzes, and exams; if you don't come to class it can be quite punishing and difficult to catch up. Highly recommend him for 3B as a solid professor all-round. He has pretty flexible office hours and gives weekly quizzes that he usually reviews.
WARNING! PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. EVEN IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT. The worst professor I've ever taken at this school. Lectures are hard to follow and I had to learn everything myself. Doesn't know the difference between teaching versus keeping his head out of his ass. There will be pop quizzes.
Just nah bruh, move on. He personally hated me specifically for no reason. He would be normal with other students and when I raise my hand he tries not to make eye contact so he wouldn't call on me.
He flies through topics very quickly, so I recommend asking him questions when confused about the smallest things. His quizzes are very harsh so review the homework and notes. He is very strict with grading too. He is available outside of office hours. Strongly advise talking to him about your problems if you are struggling in his class. Good luck.
There's no way the 5-star ratings for this guy are legitimate. He probably goes home, and delusionally types away about how "great" he is as a professor. Also, I think he's racist or xenophobic, or Islamaphobic. Something is off with how he treats sure students of different backgrounds. Something should be done about this...
Professor Ward in one word, tough. He usually goes through sections quick and then a lot of homework each week. But he is good and I can see he wants his students to pass. Quizzes every week and they aren't too terrible. Exams? Tough but manageable. Wish he would do more examples and take more time explaining. Just not what I was looking for.
Bad professor. Would not recommend taking him. Rude man and an intolerable experience. Rolls his eyes when you ask a question and makes a loud sigh. Ignores emails and makes peers cry due to snarky remarks and personal questions. The good reviews are bullshitting.
Great professor and teaches the material in a way thats easy to understand.
Lol lots of people are salty for getting low grades in the class Ward is a great teacher you just gotta put more effort outside if class to learn the material
Great professor, taught better than most other professors teaching the course
Today was my first class with him in calc 3, and he is so far the best math professor I have encountered at NJIT as a math major. He knows math really well and explains it in detail. I like his teaching style, where he starts with the theoretical background, moves toward application in the middle of the class, and finishes with problem-solving.
Honestly, there are math professors that are better than him. Spends a lot of time discussing the theoretical and only does 1-2 examples in class. Lectures can sometimes get extremely boring. His quizzes are also pretty tough. He seems like a nice guy but just wasn't for me.
People who gave him bad reviews did not care about the class enough to really get a good grade. Personally, I am sitting well with a B+ right now but he's definitely one of the best professors for this course. He gave A LOT more examples this time around and gave a lot more insight. Quizzes are LITERALLY FROM THE TEXTBOOK so you can't fail. READ IT
Ward is a great professor, he explains fairly difficult concepts in a way that you can understand. Although sometimes he can be a bit rude and can make you feel stupid, if you can just let go of that and learn as much as you can in class then you can easily get an A with Ward. His quizzes are tough, so make sure to study and review for each one.
Ward is a fast paced lecturer and he covers a lot of concepts in one lecture. He often cracks a joke or two during lectures. He's a tough grader for his quizzes, and sometimes doesn't give partial credit. Overall a good professor who gives good lectures and knows how to make good quizzes. Be sure to set time for the 20+ HW questions every week.
Honestly the worst math professor that I have taken at NJIT. Extremely tough grader, super smart guy but should be a teacher to students.
Great calc professor. Weekly quizzes that prepare you well for exams. Keep up with everything in class and you'll easily pass the course even though the material is difficult.
He's a good prof; the class is very lecture heavy & he doesn't go over many examples. He focuses more on the theory and the why behind the math and says to use the textbook for examples and help. Study for the quizzes they're harder than the exams and have 1-3 questions each. Overall he's smart and a good prof, just depends on your learning style.
Great for visual learners, uses multiple colored markers to do examples on the board. Engaging lecturer, likes to explain the theory behind the math and the applications in the real world. The quizzes are harder than the exams, but are fair and you'll be fine if you study the material. Make sure to show up to class.
He is a great professor, knows the material super well, and makes the subject super easy to understand. Some negatives are that he can be a bit rude sometimes if you ask him a question, but he still does help if you go to him and is accessible if you need help before exams.
Professor Ward was great. His lectures were really in-depth and he made sure you understood the material that was being taught. His quizzes were rather difficult if you don't study the Pearson homework beforehand. Pearson was hard but doable (he's understanding if you have questions about it) and while the final was hard, the commons were easy.
Excellent professor. If you want to put effort in and learn, ignore the bad reviews.
He is a great professor who provides a clear understanding of the material. He is fun to talk to and joke around with in class. He is fair and actually cares that you pass. Take him if you can, he's a great time and it's easy to pass his class.
Professor Ward explains the concepts very well and his quizzes prepare you for the exam. Rounded up my final grade without having to ask him. If you do bad in his class its because of you. Take this man.
Professor Ward is amazing, great lecturer and professor overall. Take if you can for Calc 3B
Professor Ward is one of those professors who truly enjoys what he does. He teaches in a way where you are able to understand. He has no problem answering questions or clarifying topics. He is funny but serious when he needs to be. His quizzes are pretty okay. Do not miss lectures and study! He truly is a great professor. Would take his class again
Professor Ward hates his job, and you're going to feel that in the classroom. He shows up, does his best to do the bare minimum, and leaves. He knows his math, but will bore you out of your mind and make simple, enjoyable classes look harder and feel impossible to approach. If you want to keep enjoying math, do not take Peter Ward
Peter Ward teaches excellently and provides amazing drawings to help students visualize Calculus 3 concepts. He always aids students at office hours. However, he puts a lot of pressure to study on their own, as he does not often hold review sessions in class. The homework is extensive and the exams (Fall 2025) were extremely difficult.
Professor Ward is an amazing professor. He is easily the best professor to take for Calc 3. He goes over each topic in detail and always answers any questions students may have. He has office hours every week, which are extremely helpful if you are stuck on a topic. His quizzes are tough, but they help you prepare for the exam. Take him if you can.
Professor Ward is great. Great, clear lectures that cover everything you need. Just make sure to stay caught up on homework and study for quizzes and you'll do fine.
Professor Ward has lectures with great notes, lots of theory. His quizzes are very tough which could take a blow to your grade if you don't study hard for them every week. He doesn't post any extra notes or material on Canvas, so if you miss lecture you can possibly fall behind.
Professor Ward explains each concept clearly, but it's easy to fall behind in class if you're not paying attention. Practicing through homework, previous exams and textbook problems are the best resources to prepare for each common.
