I liked him. However, if you are looking for a teacher to give you all the answers - he will not do it. He makes you work and wants you to understand why you are doing what you are doing. I also enjoyed the online portion of the class.

Not a very good teacher, does not exsplain well and is confusing. Has attitude about questions, wants you to learn everything from the book and only ask him questions about a specific problem. Not a nice person. don't take!

He explained every thing fairly well. Although he wouldn't teach me in a way that helped me learn. He wouldn't show you how to do a certain type of problem, omly a certain one. Withdrew from class.

Definitely one of the worst math teachers I've ever had. For starters, his class was NOT listed as a hybrid, but when I got into his class he informed us that all the homework was online. I would have withdrawn but I already paid 75 dollars for the book & stuff. Every class he asks if anyone has question, if not then he gets mad cause he cant teach

Teaches a hybrid class--all h/w and tests done on computer!! That part makes it confusing and much more difficult. Spent hours in the lab before dropping class. Class time is not very helpful. If you're not comfortable with math, don't take his class!

By far the worst class I've ever had. Just about everyone dropped his class. Not prepared, doesn't follow book. Doesn't create learning atmosphere. From what I saw, he gets easily upset and argumentative with students, especially guys, and stares at girls. IMO: Graded how he wanted, no matter what the circumstances were, glad I dropped, GPA risk.

He is an excellent teacher. Math used to be my hardest subject, but now I actually like it. You have to study, and bring in questions. You earn your grade, he has no bias, you truly get what you earned. He is the best math teacher I have had. If you make the effort, he will help you.

This class is not easy, you have to make an effort. Willett is very helpful and the best math teacher I have had. Class is not mandatory, which means its on you to attend. If you study then It's almost impossible to fail so long as you know how to do the work. You truly earn your own grade in this class. I recommend him. STUDY, LEANR & PASS!

Would be an easier class if I were good at math I suppose. He doesn't offer help unless you ask, and doesn't really "teach". His method of teaching is answering questions that he forces students to ask. He knows how to explain math but is extremely rude at times and uses the textbook only for topics and no content. Would not recommend.

Great professor. He lets the students choose what problems to go over in class. If no questions, he keeps up with the schedule given on the first day of class. All work is done online. He dosen't take roll, so you you don't have to be in class unless there is a midterm or final. I suggest going as often as possible because he grades on a curve.

First of all, his class is listed as a regular course, but all the homework is online. He is a good math professor though. A little bit of attitude but will stick with students who are having trouble and learn how to speak up. Want to make sure everyone gets it. Doesn't create a great learning atmostphere, but really knows his math.

He will explain everything to you till. you. get. it. :) I love this guy! Hes humorous, HELLA nice,super chill & grades on the good type of a curve! He doesn't explain much of the new sections during the 1st time introducing them, but he goes over them the next day with the hw Qs. HW is all online& always due on sundays too.

He is extremely helpful. If you talk to him during office hours, he will explain concepts to you until you understand it. He took over my MATH-191 class as a sub for half a semester, and I learned much more from him than from the previous teacher. Definitely recommend him.

This teacher is so good in explaining. It's him that gives me hope to learn, haha. Because I learned the same things in high school, struggling like crazy. And coming to this class had me think I would go through hell again but his teaching methods are so clear and efficient, a few problems will have you understand the concepts instantly.

Your grade is based on online homework assignments and 4 in class midterms plus a final. Although he grades exams on a curve, don't rely on it too much, as the class progresses, the "dumb" people who lower the curve drop out making it more competitive. Nice guy and very helpful even during office hours. Go to class prepared with questions!

I had mr. willett for math 110 and 120. He is an excellent teacher. He is great at explaining things, he relates complex problems to simple things you have hopefully have already learned. All work is online, and if you make stupid mistakes like me, you can go to his office and he will correct them. All around I think he is an awesome teacher!

Had for Calculus 1. He is a great instructor and teacher, he will explain and re-explain concepts repeatedly in a very clear, concise manner. My only complaint is that his tests are very hard and very heavy in regards to theory. I will try to avoid his classes, only due to his tests. But I won't lose sleep over it if I have to have him again.

A great teacher for those who value understanding the ideas behind math instead of just memorizing a process. If your major/career is math heavy, pick this teacher. His lucid and energetic teaching style has probably converted countless business majors into math majors.

Professor Willet tore down my perception of reality, but revealed to me the opportunity to build it back up as something greater. Amazing teacher. His tests are incredibly hard, but his curve is very fair, so it's not a big deal. He truly cares that all of his students understand the concept behind the math, rather than just the procedure. TAKE HIM

He is a good professor. You can see that he cares about students understanding the concepts. His lecture isn't intense, he gives you a general idea about the concepts and expects you understand them thoroughly by doing the homework. He is really helpful and has a lot of office hours.

This class is designed as a discussion-based/Q&A class. The online assignments are not at all similar to what was gone over in lecture. This professor discusses math and does not teach it. Please, if you want to do well in calculus, do NOT take him for this class!

His online homework is horrible that more than 200 questions per week!!!And midterms are terrible, either. Questions are so hard and they aren't related to the textbook or homework at all. There are only 2 people can got A on his exam when about 40 students attend it! And if u wanna got an A on math 192,don't choose him!

Mr. Willett is an awesome teacher! One of the best I've ever had in any subject. He really wants to help you understand the material and pass the class. He really works hard to make you feel comfortable asking questions even if you think its a dumb one. Hard class though. Be ready to work at it. Class was full on day one, only 18 left now.

Maybe he changed this year, because he isn't a good teacher! ALL homework is online, which is nothing like his lecture! Midterms are extremely difficult, with less than a quarter of the class acing his exams. All in-class exams are curved, which is the only good thing about him. If you want to understand calculus at all, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!

Really a wonderful instructor. His lectures are clear and easy to understand. He really knows his Math 120 and explains it well. If you have difficulties, go and see him during his office hours. Between his lectures and online assignments, I learnt a lot. . Only drawback...his math 120 is at 7 am. sometimes I am so sleepy!!!!!!!

He is a horrible teacher! He assigns so much online hw that is due every Sunday night. Only good thing with the online hw is that you can go redo stuff last week of school. His lectures do not relate to on hw and his tests are on completely different concepts than what he lectures on. Only one person had an A going into the final. Take someone else

Took Math 120 class last semester. His lectures are organized and clear. What I did not get, I'd ask for help from him or Math Lab. He cares about his students and he treats his students like an adult. He does not take attendance but if you don't show, it's your loss.

He really sets up the class so that you make what you want out of it. He gives you the opportunity to learn if you follow his advice about the class, take it seriously and ask for help if you need it. But if you don't do homework, study and ask questions, you will do miserably in his class.

Pointless to show up to class , usually empty if you go . I would not recommend him unless you can do math on your own on a computer.

Has good intentions but can be rude at time and funny at others. Not really the professor to have a conversation with about anything other than math though. He teaches broad topics and makes you understand why things are happening and then expects you to teach yourself through practice how to do problems.

Best math teacher I've had at DVC. Makes you practice to master material, teaches you what to think about to solve a problem, not just a procedure. He's always helpful in answering questions, fantastic in explaining the material. He's also really funny during lectures. Tests are no joke. They really expand on ideas, not just math procedures.

He gives you over 200 problems of homework every week and you have tests every single week which is ridiculous for a prerequisite class. It's all online. You will spend hours doing homework every day. Do not take this class if you have other classes to worry about. He doesn't teach and just does a Q&A. There are much better math teachers to take.

He was a little rude to be honest and his tests were not the easiest for an online class. To be fair, he did grade on a curve. The main problem I had with this teacher was that his tests did not match the homework we were assigned, and that is what killed me in this class.

His lectures are concise, clear and illuminating. You must be willing to work hard to understand the underlying concepts so that you can apply them to problems. And the problem you get on tests do not necessarily come from homework questions or class examples! So in other words his tests are very, very hard. Very helpful in office hours.

I don't even know how I passed this class. Willet is really tough. Sure his exams are on a generous curve but people still failed them, that's how hard they were. He gave a 10pt ec question at the end of each test, and people still failed! He's helpful, and a little bit of a genius, but his class is just so hard. take someone else if you can.

i took his MATH120 class and it was pretty good! he's an awesome teacher! easily to ask for help, if you reach 90 and above score in quizzes he will turn it to 100, but you should come see him in his office to do that, very precise in his lectures, learned a lot, tricky exams but really if u study hard, those tricky question arent really hard FR!

Class was online. Prof. Willett didn't provide any lectures. Learning was from the text book and MyMathLab. Prof Willett did provide periodic written exams. These exam questions were not similar to the online tests. It was a challenging course. You needed to understand concepts. Next time, I will take a normal math class from Prof Willett.

OMG, DO NOT TAKE HIS COURSE EVER IN YOUR LIFE!!! Toughest teacher I've ever had in my whole life. I took his Math-191 during the summer. Got my text book 3 weeks earlier and Started the book way before the course. Have been studying for more than 10 hours every single day (I swear to god!) and I just got a C! Class average grading with only 1 A!!!!

He grades based on class average with 1 A, 3 Bs, 5 Cs and that's it! Rest going to be failed even if you have studied. Three exams were taken which are totally out of the book with only 1 hour and 50 mins for like 40 problems which are so long that even if you know all the answers you can't finish. It'll be the worst experience taking his class.

He's grading doesn't follow a standard rule. It's his custom curve with few students being able to pass. For example if you take one of his exams and with the same knowledge some other teachers exam, you'll definitely get A there and D here.

I took his Summer online Math191 and studied every day, passed all the test on MathLab but non of them matter because he grades based on his super difficult exams which are on class average with the thoughts curve you've seen. You think you'll get A but he'll give you C or D! seriously!

He doesn't really teach you anything. He just stresses you out. Even if you send him an email, you might get a one world email from him after a week! If you study the book by yourself or by a higher rated teacher, you'll earn better results.

If they make a repetitive $500 fee every month to guarantee that I wouldn't see him again, I'd happily pay that to just don't see him again! He stressed me out a lot during the course. I think teachers should be evaluated not only on their relative knowledge, but on their moral skills as well.

TAKE HIM! He's sympathetic to people who've taken stats before, so let him know if you have. Lots of online h.w. Gives one extra credit question on each test. There were several group projects, which by the end of the semester, he didn't have time to grade, so he gave 100%. TESTS ARE MULTIPLE CHOICE! Graded on a curve. FinalNOT multiple choice!!!

Best mathematics professor I have ever had. I had not take math for 4 years & gaining the confidence to acquire the skills needed for algebra was simple, thanks to his patience with the entire class. He made sure that we understood WHAT the problem is asking and WHY we take the steps to find the answer. Not sure why some students think otherwise...

Mr. Willet was very clear with his explanations of concepts, and he was usually able to explain things in at least 2 ways. He was even willing to allow students to skip ahead in his online homework if they knew the material, although the book and program he used let him down as I found it difficult to do the online portion of his homework.

I took this class online over summer, and I wouldn't recommend it. Hardest class ever! And the professor didn't help at all and doesn't respond to emails. The book doesn't use the same questions as the Webassign website, which makes it difficult because you have to teach yourself how to do the work. A lot of homework & tests, be prepared to read.

He let me add the class late after other teachers wouldn't allow me to do the same. Attendance was not mandatory, which helped because I also work, but I fell behind on hw which led me to get a C. There is a generous makeup period after the online deadlines close. I would suggest going to class with questions otherwise you're wasting your own time.

Awesome teacher. Super helpful and nice. I missed my midterm and he used my final to assign a grade for it. Opens all assignments and tests during finals week so you can re-do whatever you want to bring your grade up. Grades on a curve. Allows graphing calc for tests plus a page of notes. He just wants you to learn the math. Would highly recommend.

This teacher is awful. I used to enjoy math but because of him, I hate it. I've study hard and do all of his online assignment on time. I got 90%+, but his test is the worst, his test is very hard. He messed up my study plan. My whole future is in risk. I highly recomend not to take his class, especially if you want to transfer to 4-year university

Though the test is hard, professor teaches claerly. The professor likes to make fun. I always find some emoji on my test paper. And he sometimes draws one after the hard question in lecture.

Willett is a Class guy. The fact that he curves on his tests just makes the class way less stressful than it needs to be. Overall if you have the opportunity to take him. Do it. Because hes a great guy.

Trust me when I tell you you should not take this professor. If you study 24/7 and you are good at math then take him if you are gifted. Lectures were boring. 5 midterms and 1 final. For the midterms, he didn't provide study guides or tell us which topics to study. Did provide curves on midterms but they barely helped my grade. He explained things very conceptually and it was confusing. Even the midterms had many conceptual questions. Not an easy A/B class.

Professor Willet does give out a lot of homework, but it never felt out of line for the rest of the department, and he gives lots of opportunities to ask for help before the deadline. His tests are difficult, but his curve is very generous. He feels like a teacher that wants you to succeed, and you only have yourself to blame if you don't.

I convinced myself that I was horrible at math because I took this guy. Not until later, with a different teacher, did I realize that math does not have to be a living hell. Avoid this guy. The structure of his classes make it impossible to get good grades or learn anything for that matter.

Teacher seems to get a kick out of making the class extremely difficult to reward students who are gifted with math. Uses curve as an excuse for difficulty level when clearly a few students will excel in math. Seems to get a kick out of showing off how hard he can make things. Napoleon complex.

NO HOMEWORK. This Professor is hands down one of the best professors at DVC if you are looking to learn. He wants his students to not only know the material, but understand the concept behind it. However.. He prepares us with medium difficulty questions in class, but the test is HARD. I am pretty good at math but DAMN this guy makes you wanna die.

DONT TAKE HIM if you want gud grades. He's a teacher for learning not for an A. This class is an Easy B-/C. An A though is impossible. Might have a mental breakdown in his exams because he asks these really conceptual questions which no other teacher gives a crap about.

This will be the hardest thing you will ever do in your entire life. The tests are designed for people born with talent, something you can't learn in a thousand years. Impossible to get A unless you find a really dumb class (cause he curves).

I'd say he is ok. I mean, tests are really difficult, but if you get all A's in the tests, you get to skip the final, which is awesome. Also pretty accessible outside class. Make sure you actually do some googling outside of class & you'll at least get a B. Key is, he tests your conceptual understanding.

Final is 35% of your grade. MyMathLab assignments are the biggest pain. All tests are curved so you have to try to outperform your class. His lectures are very clear

You DON'T know 'HARD' until you take this professor. Literally felt like KMS during this course. Homework is tough but his tests are next level. It's like solving a Rubik's Cube blindfolded. He curves. Only 4/35 ppl get As in this class. His lectures are really good tho. He wants to challenge ur deeper understanding. Only take if ur Good at Math!

I took his stats class online and it was pretty difficult doing self-learning. He was pretty tough on a few students whenever they emailed him about a problem and I know lots of people had major problems with how he handled certain situations.

This professor has been invisible this entire semester. The entire class is self-taught through Pearson and provides no lectures or notes. The textbook is your only guidance, however, that doesn't include a whole lot. You have over 50 questions of homework and a quiz every week. There are 2 Midterms and a Final that are proctored. AVOID THIS CLASS

Do not take the class if you already struggle with math. He does not help you. Attending zoom meetings were unhelpful and he does not teach. He literally mentions in the syllabus, "students need to learn about the material in advance on their own and then come to the meetings with any questions that they need to ask to help". You teach yourself

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF!! As a person who is normally good at math, this class was the hardest class I took this semester. The prof is NOT helpful and grades WAY too hard considering he doesn't teach his students. Do yourself a favor and pick a prof that actually wants to see their class succeed bc this prof doesn't.

He is pretty hands off in summer course. He really is there to just answer questions. There is a lot self teaching with YouTube. He will work with you though if you just ask for the help. I think students found him intimidating and he really is a nice guy if you just approach him. I think the exams were too difficult as the class average was Ds.

Worst professor Ive ever had. Maybe it was my mistake for assuming professors would be extra helpful and caring given we were in the middle of a pandemic and this is a math class, but this professor was no help. He posted no lectures, no notes, all he did was assign homework from the book without teaching the material. Dont waste your time.

Uses a cumbersome pre-made Pearson slideshow that even he doesn't like, and doesn't do very much to clarify. Don't expect to be treated respectfully if you reach out outside of class.

Tough, but fair. All test questions and homework came from Pearson online software. Typical cc grading criteria of "if you show up and work hard you get an A" does not apply; you need to know the material to get the grade. If you need an easy A for transfer take with another prof. He has office hours nearly every day for an hour. Very accessible.

The final project wasn't graded because "your class grade would not be lowered nor raised" lol. This message was sent to everyone. He offered to review it *in a few weeks at request* lol. Is this all that matters in our education? A grade? The project is where you actually interact with the real world. That is irrelevant? Slap in the face

I took his class for both Trigonometry and Statistics and both classes lacked actual instruction from the professor. He is not prepared to instruct an online class at all. He is unable to complete the lectures in a timely manner and on a personal level publicly insulted my intelligence during class. Tests are weekly and heavily impact your grade.

Math is my best subject, but I found this class to be ridiculously tedious. Online math is already annoying, but get ready to spend 12 hours a week practicing to get a good grade on online quizzes on each chapter. Prof W isn't bad, he explains concepts well but the work required online is basic concepts and then make the more complicated.

idk how his in person classes go but online was terrible. Willett is a very nice guy but all he did to teach us was read off ppt. slides he didnt even like. Since participation doesnt matter, youre better off skipping class and learning stats on your own. He doesnt even grade the work you do, all the assignments are generated through MyStatLab.

I don't know how he teaches his online class but his in-person class was a great first college experience. Although attendance is not required I recommend you do attend classes because he teaches thoroughly and answers questions well. All homework is done online with Pearson and supplies you with a calculator that basically does everything for you.

Willett is a solid teacher for Elementary Statistics. A fun guy who definitely knows what he's talking about. Gave lots of examples during his lectures and took time to help everyone. I had two online classes a week with him. He assigned one 40 question homework and one 10 question quiz each week. Semester ended with a simple final project

He says attending is not mandatory but expects you to be in his class. He doesn't teach just goes over the slides from my stats lab. He doesn't grade, my stats lab does. We don't even learn the full equations we use statcrunch to solve everything for us. Statistics is a hard class in general, ruined my love for math, just don't take it!

Prof W is a nice guy, but his "teaching" is appalling. Everything is done online which is slow and tedious. He posts no notes or lectures, and when asked says he "doesn't get paid enough to do that" which all my previous professors did. All tests are heavily weighted and difficult. The class is needlessly hard; find a better prof.

I thought he'd be a fun professor at the beginning of the semester but later on, his personality seemed quite rude and is insensitive towards people. I overheard his conversation with a student and he said in a loud voice that her data for a project was not having believable. Red flag for a professor; doesn't seem to want his students to succeed.

Professor seems to be excellent at first, but as the class goes on, he seems not interested in the success of his students. Projects aren't explained well because he expects students to understand by themselves by reading a single module in Canvas. Despite that, he is a communicative professor, but I wouldn't retake his class.

He is incredibly impersonal, when I emailed him with questions or concerns he addressed me as "Math 142 Student" and it just felt like he cared so little about the consequences his class was having for me. I should've dropped, he does not teach well at all, there is very little guidance, and he is so cold

The best part of Professor Willet's class was that all the lectures were online, which made it an almost asynchronous class. However, he still had lectures in person that you could attend. Almost the entire course was on my stat lab.

Professor Willett's class was flexible; attendance was not mandatory because the lectures are all are uploaded to YouTube. The class is very homework / quiz heavy. The midterms and finals are also cumulative and he does not have any kind of study guide, but they are open note. He also made us turn in a final project and then did not grade them.

Overall this was a good class. Professor Willet always gave us a week to do the homework and quiz that was assigned. He would always ask if we had any questions to make sure we understood the curriculum. If we had any questions about the homework he would go over the problem in class. He gave us many tools to use if we ever needed any extra help.

I have taken Willett before in statistics, but his Calculus class is very different. The curriculum he teaches is almost nothing like the homework assigned. Tests were extremely difficult, with the averages in the 30s. Has a policy (not in the syllabus) where your class grade cannot be lower than your final grade which is nice.

Ruined my life. I had a perfect 4.0 until I took this class; I took calc AB & BC on KhanAcademy and managed to get a C. Avg on tests (whole class) was like high D to high C. It was much harder to transfer out, and I spent days and nights trying to salvage my gpa and academic reputation. He DOESNT care about you, thinks he's a god. DO NOT TAKE

A Pearson guy. Everything for him is perfect except for his homework. He only teaches the most important yet difficult stuff. As long as you always listen to his class carefully, you can easily get an A or B in his every exam. But his homework is super tough and frustrating. If you are highly sensitive to weekly homework scores, consider it twice.

Avoid at all costs. You constantly have 50-question homework assignments with each question having up to 7 parts. The lectures in person are boring, as he only reads lesson slides made by Pearson (who make the homework as well). He pretty much just assigns the homework, reads the slides, and calls it a day. Would not wish this on my worst enemy.

Most of his lectures focused on solving niche problems that rarely showed up on the weekly Pearson quizzes. He constantly stated that student success was based off of just completing assignments rather than comprehension. This class is essentially a online class from how poor the lectures are.

Peter Willett is a very impersonal instructor w/ harsh vibes. His lectures are barely relevant to our weekly homework/quizzes on MyStatLab. Long story short, I learned how to complete these assignments solely using StatCrunch without actually understanding the course material. I fully believe he's a tenured professor by the way he teaches the class

WORST class ever! I took this course twice and still could not pass. He is not available for the most part and when he is he makes you feel dumb for not understanding the concept or will just ignore you. 1 STATS project which is 100pts (partner or alone). Uses MystatLab which is great but HW probs have 40+?'s each lesson. Take 3exams in person.

I spent about 8+ hours a week trying to figure out the homework assignments because his lectures didn't have much to do with how to solve it. Average for the exams were often 50-60%. Students barely attended his in-person lectures, but he will help you with the material if you ask.

Petter Willett is an amazing professor, though any math course is difficult, don't be afraid to ask questions, you won't be happy with your score if you're too afraid. In Prof. Willett's class, you must attend office hours, because that's where you can have that one-on-one interaction where he can clear things up early before you take a midterm.

If you want to learn statistics, don't take Mr. Peter Willet. If you want to learn to use Stat Crunch, Willet is your guy!! Lectures aren't mandatory or useful. This guy does NOT use formulas but comes to class anyway so you can see where the different Stat Crunch sections are located. The whole curriculum is through Pearson btw so no extensions.

Professor Willett's class can be challenging, but using tools like unstuck ai alongside the textbook and attending study sessions really helps. Engage with the material and you'll learn a lot, even if the lectures don't fully align with the homework.

I believe that the professor did not do a great job at teaching all the material. I would always find myself finding new material on the hw and exams that he has never gone over in class. Even when trying to go ask him for aid, his comments were ambiguous and did not help at all. I went to tutoring as well but they were not much help. Dont Take!!!!

Uses MyLab by Pearson and you get ~40 hw questions + short quiz per week. Feels like an online class. There are two midterms, a final and partner project; same format as your online HW/quizzes, and are curved. In person lectures weren't too helpful, but not mandatory. Score average for exams and you should pass w/ curve (average was usually 60%).

The class was structured well, however, the midterms were pretty brutal but they were curved. He was kind and patient in person when I took the tests. Statcrunch is crucial to the course and I found it helpful not having to memorize those equations. His lectures I found really thorough and nice. Lots of work and time consuming but taught well.

If you already struggle with math I would highly recommend you find a better professor. material is online, but going to the in person lectures only help so much. The workload was way too hard for most students to keep up His class is not worth the stress. Seems like a sweet and cool guy, but he really needs to fix his curriculum/pacing👎

For his final project, HE WILL NOT GRADE IF IT DOESNT IMPACT YOUR GRADE SIGNIFICANTLY. With how much work needed to do the project, I found it very annoying he doesnt take the time to grade it. He will only provide feedback if requested. Seems like a silly request to me.

Lectures were helpful because of in-depth explanations and practice problems that we worked through. My challenge was that Mr. Willet would alter between Pearson and his own curriculum in lecture, which put gaps in my understanding of online Pearson hw. Exams were difficult, but honestly very rewarding. He cares about your journey to the answer.

This guy runs a joke of a class. He gives so much homework on McGraw hill and his videos where he teaches the subjects are bad. The in person midterms were a joke too. The class average was around 40-50% but he curves it because he doesn't want to loose his job for not properly teaching us in the first place. This guy shouldn't be a teacher anymore
