very passionate with his teaching; really wants you to learn stuff
very smart prof; eager to help students; and gosh, that hearty smile...
one of the best 1st year math prof's you will ever have
Don't listen to people that say he is bad, he is an awesome prof!
Awesome? Definitely YES! But... looks like Mr. Bean? Hmm...?
He's alright.
a good prof with a great sense of humor
Good not great
Just plain boring
very kind prof.; witty sometimes (provided you can get his jokes, though)
He is my most favourite first year math prof !
He turned my world up side down!
tried very hard to be funny, but didn't work most of the time
Never ever want to see him again.
if his jokes were so amusing, one might laugh
He's a good prof. I'll miss him...
A pretty good prof,he thinks everything is easy "Infinity is like Africa","blah"
a tad dry...but at least he tries to amuse. very very clear. =)
You know why no one goes to class? its at 8:30 change the damn time
He's OK.
Very cool prof, never broing. Take his class!
excellent prof, great sense of humor
Everything is blah
If you know how to do derivatives, u're ahead already
Very clear on the material... Bonus marks for use of Blah
Excessive use of Blah , but otherwise good teacher. Easiest course all semester
'blah' is not even original; other profs have been using it since forever!
He can take his frigging blah and replicate it up his frigging *ss!

A good prof and an easy course. He knows his stuff.
Be nice to him and he'll be nice to you. Good, clear explanations. Lectures weren't boring and he is quite helpful. Advice: Don't get off on the wrong foot with him though.
Great prof. Although sit in the front, does not speak very loudly.
Great prof. Knows what he's talking about and explains it well. Will crack a joke every once in a while to keep things interesting. Gotta love the 'blah'.
Awesome prof! I want to have his children!

He's amazing. Really clear, and obviously knows his stuff. Blah blah blah
Gotta LOVE his sense of humour! He can make you laugh and cry at the same time!
Very smart, helpful and kind. Too bad he is married :( Anyhow, it's good to know... Best Wishes as alwayls! :) -Kate
Good guy, but boring and overrated. Repetitive and weird.
Excellent Prof that makes sure every understands the content before moving on.
BLAH...that's what this course is like. Just blah... I'm not really learning much in his lectures though. What I ever learned in high school is enough for calc. Blah blah blah...
Great prof... reminds me of a cartoon at times. He's very clear, his notes are good, and he goes at a very reasonable pace. See aforementioned abuse of "blah."
The moment when he found he was using a permanent marker after making 4 boards of notes, was the funniest moment I've had in the university of waterloo. That made my term. He's a great prof too.
This guy has a calm sense of humour. Calc 1 is jokes, you'll like him.
He's interesting and helpful. He is able to take complex ideas and explain them clearly (this is very hard to do). Kudos to you Peter! Go Double Degrees!
Amazing at explaining things clearly and makes you understand the stuff rather than writing whole lot of useless stuff on the board. Definitely recommend him as a teacher. Walks around the board like a ghost (arms never move):)
Exceptional ability to bring content to the level of the student. (A rare commodity it seems) It is difficult to NOT understand him!! :) Top notch
Wood is an excellent prof. He really seems to enjoy teaching and makes a little extra effort to make sure that all his students understand the concepts. He's a pretty funny guy but some of his jokes are corn. All around great prof.
tries too hard to be funny. TOO many examples, not enough explaination.
he is straight to the point, clear, and teaches you little tricks that are important. he is funny enough and speaks clear english. i can't say he's easy but i like him doing examples.
Good lecturer. Funny and nice. helpful and clear.

The best prof we've had in 1st year, and nominated for a teaching award. Skips all the nonsense and gets right to the point with incredible clarity. When people go out of their way to attend linear algebra class, you know there's got to be a damn good prof teaching it.

Not even average.
Clear, concise, no nonsense! He was even nominated for an award by our class! Great prof, and great guy!

VERY VERY good prof! Clear and concise lectures explaining exactly how it's done and what to do. Great course too
Who knew Jeff Goldblum taught at Waterloo?
He's such a smart guy! One of the better profs I had so far. He gives very clear lectures and is always very helpful with assignment or just general questions during his office hours. Term tests were easy piecey but exam was a bit tough. I highly recommend taking this course with him!
Amazing professor - clear lectures; wants students to do well and teaches accordingly!!!
One of the best there is!
Good prof...I wish he was teaching the tutorials as well tho.
Great prof! Clear lectures, all materials provided, useful tutorials, assignments not too easy nor too hard. Only way to improve is to tell more interesting stories from financial history in class!
An excellent professor, but a gentleman first of all. Simply great! No surprise class attendance is very high.
Absolutely amazing! It's no wonder the average in his class was 20% higher than the averages of other classes, when everyone was writing the same tests. He is awesome and knows alot about math to foreshadow about interesting things that you will see in the future! :) I liked him alot and hope I get him for actsc courses!
One of the best professors I've ever had. Very clear, extremely helpful, overall a great prof.
Very fair. Attend class, pay attention. If you can understand how to do the problem sets and 4 assignments, then you're pretty much good to go. He throws no curveballs. If he does surprise you, it's with something really easy. Bonus, he adds some humour.
Best prof for Finance. No other prof should teach this subject
Great prof, interesting lectures, explains things clearly. Tests were relatively easy
Peter is a great Math prof. It's not an easy subject to teach but he makes it very easy to follow along. Sometimes he does talk a bit fast but you have to follow along. Going to lectures is VERY IMPORTANT. You will get a 90 easily if you do.
Great prof, explains everything very clearly. He likes to go through questions during class, and I've found that very helpful. Also, you don't really have to read the text book if you go to his classes. The only downside is that he like to give long tests, although they are not difficult . Highly recommended, THE best finance prof i have ever had.
I can really learn something in his class, and get a satisfied grade.
have to listen all the time for his lectures. Notes and ppt are too brief to learn from the start
talks really fast but otherwise easy to follow. also goes through most of the stuff in the workbook, which is very helpful for assignments/tests
His lectures are very interesting. Slightly fast-paced but followable.
Goes through the slides too quickly to follow.
Most difficult finance course I've ever encountered. The prof really knows what he's teaching. He explains things totally based on his own interpretation of the financial instruments. The exams are very flexible and require a very deep understanding of the course material.
Clear explanations. Tests and assignments were fair.
One of my favourite professors in my 4 years of undergrad at the university of waterloo. The course is pretty tough to get your mind around but he explains clearly and his tests / assignments are very fair. If you attend his lectures and put a bit of work in, you can do very well in this course. I highly recommend it!
Peter knows his stuff. He can communicate ideas well. Easy course/good prof. Assignments require excel. MT/Final easier than assignments. 9/10
Great prof, his lectures made the materials easy to understand and he is patient when explaining to students who doesn't understand. Also very lenient towards students who have not done the readings.
Midterm was fair, but final is hard.
best prof/advisor ever - he's v. fair and he is very helpful in and out of class, his lectures are enjoyable and he spends a lot of effort making sure students understand the material, I'd take his classes even if it weren't mandatory
very hard final
His class notes are just horrible, midterm was easy, but final is hard. Doesn't seem to really care about students....
I think he knows what he is teaching very well, maybe too well that sometimes he goes quite fast. I have to record his lectures and listen couple more times to fully understand. His midterms are OK, but the final is very "creative"? You need to really know the concepts to get a good mark in final. Overall, a challenging but enjoyable experience.
he is extremely helpful, always being so nice to student. knowledgeable with different financial history, stories during lecture. You can know more about how the content relate to the real world! One of the best prof in UW!
Very knowledgeable about the subject matter. There were weekly quizzes + assignments so he definitely kept everyone busy. Overall, the course wasn't too hard but it was definitely quite a bit of work. MT / final were very fair. Lectures could be better - he goes through the workbook way too fast or you don't know when he's actually doing it.
I learned so much about fixed income through this course - really well organized and Professor Wood's lectures are just amazing! So much to learn
Every lecture goes extremely fast. I went to every single class, he went through the slide too fas to follow. There are lots of terminologies and abbreviations, so it is very difficult for people with limited bond trading experience. The slides have so many mistakes in the sample calculation, and this made the review extremely time-consuming.
He is very logical in class, so if you follow him well you find it interesting. if you didn't follow in lectures then you get lost.
He's so patient and kind, and a very fair person. Extremely helpful, and wants you to learn!
Smart guy, great lectures and taught the materials from a very practical perspective (he mentions stuff like what traders would do), which is useful for FARM students. One drawback is his questions can be a bit confusing at times, and one mark on the tests is worth a lot so really hard to get a super high mark. .
The best prof I have had during this period of online courses (and one of the best overall). Peter is extremely well organized, very active on Piazza and has clear expectations for course work. He balances the theory with application, and focuses on many practical considerations for fixed income with interesting lecture videos. Highly recommend.
Peter Wood makes my Peter turn into Wood. The course is incredibly well organized and interesting. The notes are really helpful and concise. The assessments are really helpful at solidifying understanding, especially of the qualitative side of things. I feel like I learned tons of new theory and real-world applications. Highly recommended.
He is one of the BEST profs in UWaterloo. He held many office hours. (3d a week, 2h per d) Therefore I could get help immediately after I had some questions.
Great prof last winter term. Definitely would take another class taught by him
excellent!
My FATHER
The professor has a systematic teaching approach. Attend lectures and use the free textbook - it really helps. unstuck AI was a game-changer for exam prep. Overall, it's a challenging but rewarding course.
