He gives a lot of work all at once. His assignments are ridiculous. He's a hard grader too.
His "quizes" are harder than most final exams that I have taken in other classes. Everything is based on memorization of the book- nothing on class lectures. Very rude and unapproachable outside of class.
He is a funny guy. He gives you like 4 projects and a long case study every week. He has good notes, but the tests are hard.

Awesome guy, if your an idiodt then dont take his class cause he will rip you apart. If you get it and use common sense in class then he will offer all the help you need. He has time consuming papers, but they are extremly well maintained and doable.
He will make you fell like sh*t. and the quizes are so hard
The guy knows what he's doing. Very funny, but do not take if you're sensitive. He's a difficult grader, gives a lot of work, and expects a lot from his students. But you leave with a working understanding of the material, and after all, college isnt supposed to be easy
Makes you feel like you are dumb. Doesnt answer your questions if he doesnt like you. Rude. Dont like him at all.
Great professor! Very knowledgable and always willing to help. Certainly sets the standards of what college should be
Professor Zachilli adored me so I can't say a bad thing about him........hard class, hard tests, long projects, but he liked me so that made it easier
boring and very hard. better be on his nice side or you wont make it too far.
Knowlegable, definetly has the potential to be a good prof., but isn't-he seems like he doesn't want to be there. His tests are way too hard and he gives too many projects-most of them he doesn't even give back. Not a nice guy!!!!
professor zacchilli doesnt take any crap from his students. Theres alot of work but i found it challenging. As long as you dont procrastinate till the last minute on projects.. you should do fine unless you're retarded like half of the kids in this school
Professor Zachilli is the only teacher in this school who has taught me something.I have heard his higher level classes are really hard, but I plan on taking him for everything I possibly can. He doesn't take****,but he understands excruciating circumstances. Take his class, you'll learn something
Prof. Zacchilli was an extremely demanding professor who expects alot but in the end gives alot. My project was over 90 pages and seems to the endless but he does reward hardwork in the end and I recieved an A on the project & presentation. Hard exams and work but well worth the effort in the end.Visit him for help and you will get a better grade.
Looks like Dr. Phil and that is very distracting and hard as hell...Don't ask for help cause he'll make you look REAL dumb.
prof. zachilli...what a way to start of my freshman year...first thing in the morning too. i lova this guy though, when you've done the reading, anyway...he seriously has no problem making people look and feel totally stupid. quizes are hard, papers are hard...but definitely an informative class and a cool guy. and he totally does look like dr.phil
hes can be funny and nice but he is a very hard grader and give a lot of work... make sure u read a lot n do not blow off any of his papers
His class is really hard, but he is fair. The paper gets to be about 70 or more pages. You will learn a lot but you have to make sure you study for all tests...every point counts! Don't slack off and you will get a good grade.
he's a good teacher but a real challenge. Show him your interested and he'll show you the grades. I dont know if I'd take him again. But i learnt alot.
Cool guy, work over breaks isn't hard, it's just time consuming and stupid. Papers...an 8 page paper due every 1 1/2 weeks or so. I learned a lot, don't leave his work until the last minute. Regardless, good professor, if you fail, thats your fault hacks.
he is alwfully hard. If you want write papers every two weeks go ahead. He can be funny but he is very confusing and he hates answering questions, he has no time to talk to you and hel you. you have to assign appointments to see him. But you will learn a lot. Tests are BEURKKKKK very very very hard.
He was difficult in having as a night class. I do beleive he is fair. Test were not bad. I would perfer him to be a manager than a professor. Take him if you want a challange, but always be prepared for his class.
he is the worst prof i hav ever had... very unhelpful and loves to make you look like an IDIOT if u dont understand something... way too much bullsh*t work... 8 pg papers every 2 weeks and almost everything you learn in class is irrelevant to the exams... tests are way too hard... DONT TAKE HIM UNLESS YOU WANT TO SPEND ALL OF UR TIME ON HIS CLASS!
This guy is the biggest piece of **** in the world. Clearly I'm not the only one that thinks this guy is the worst professor in the school. He thinks that the best way of teaching is by assigning ALOT of papers. Not only that, but he's a complete jerk and is just plain rude. We need a petition to fire this human waste.
He gives out massive amounts of work and isn't helpful at all.He also has a very subjective way of grading ie: "You did all 13 sections of your case study correctly, but the last section wasn't detailed enough so you got a D". He is suprisingly rude for someone with a hosp. backgroud.
He is a good prof as long as you're willing to put the work in you'll get a good grade. Overall, he's a very nice guy you just have to work your butt off to get on that side
Very intelligent. He knows his****. He WILL make you work. Probably in the top 3 hardest professors at J&W. HOWEVER:: I would take his class in a minute. You will learn something from him. If you want to learn, take him. If you want an easy grade:: search elsewhere.

I will tell you just one thing. DO NOT TAKE HIM UNLESS YOU WANT TO FAIL A COURSE!!!
Many people think he is a bad professor. Well, he's not. If you work with him he will work with you. Just dont try to act like a smart ass or he will make you look like a dumb ass. Overall I liked him he was a good professor. He definitely knows what he's talking about. And he's always around for help.
For all you students who like this guy because you learn from him:Hospitality is not a field where you need a college education to learn. You can get a hospitality education by getting a job in a hotel or restaurant. The only thing good about going to school is it looks good on a resume. Why take a professor who is hard?I would rather haveabad-easypro
I don't like easy professors, I like challenging Professors. But I found Zachilli WAY overweighted on obscenely large assignments. I'm an A student and I found myself abandoning my other classes just to keep up. I never had a personal problem with him, but he had a habit of making fools of others. Work load is not balanced, and lectures are bland.
Played favorites and didn't hide it. His guest speakers (previous students) hinted on how he preferred them to his other students. His projects were challenging in content, but just unreasonable in length and quantity. Really unjustified workload with tough grading made for an unenjoyable experience. As if he wants to discourage you from the field.
Tough grader
Pro.Zachilli is a GREAT teacher..... i am an average student and for the fist cople of assignments i was not doing well! BUT he offered to assistance to ALL of the students in the class and i took advantage of that! All in all... he is ALWAYS there for help and will never set you wrong! If you want to learn he is a GREAT person to learn from!
Professor Zacchili is a horrible professor. I had good expectations going into the class but I found out he is rude and sarcastic. He's not very helpful at all. He doesn't return your tests after he grades them so you can study from them. He is a really tough grader, and all his test questions are completely subjective.
This class was not bad. Only one project and it is just a paper w/presentation. Be sure to follow directions completely. You have to be able to handle him because he will say it like it is and can be a **** sometimes.
I love seeing how most of you are complaining about Prof. Zachilli. I think he is the most knowledgeable and helpful teacher that I have had at JWU. I have had hi
Cut Zachilli some slack. I think he is the most knowledgeable and helpful teacher that I've had at JWU. I've had him for three classes(HR,Resort MGMT, Trvl+Trsm) and he has been awesome in all three. If you listen to him and pay attention he will tell you what you need to do, and the people who don't do that are the ones who are complaining here.
very agressive personaility which was not a good match for me and if you hand in a assignment not 2 his standards he gives you and "F" and makes u feel bad. So pay attention to directions and format for the way he wants assignments and projects.
Many people would hate to take him, but he is one of the most knowledgable professors at JWU. He will help you if you ask. Just dont be a wise guy or you will be made to look like an idiot. Great professor also a great person to know.
He is the worst prof I have ever had. He picks his favorites and those are the only ones that will get a good grade! I am always a project person and always get A's and I didn't get anything close! He makes fun of people and is always right when half the time he isn't. Dont take him!!He wont work around you, isn't helpful, and isn't clear!
Zachilli is hilarious. Just follow his directions on everything exactly as he says to and you'll get an A. Case studies can be long and boring but all you have to do is copy from the book and cite it. Easy. ALL TEST ARE OPEN BOOK
Prof. Zacchilli is one of the best teachers i have ever met. He isnt easy at all which i find it a challenge. I give him all the credit for all the great job he is doing in teaching from experience.
Intimidating at first. I am an A student and on the first paper I received a D. I went to him for help for every paper after that and received all A's. If you put in the time and effort your grade will reflect it. If you are a student who does not care about school or wants the easy way out..don't take him. Most knowledgeable teacher at JWU so far.
horrible! no matter how hard you try he still does not care and his favorite grade is a D. I have never had bad grades my whole life until this loser pretended he was a sarcastic god when in reality he has his favorites and they are the only ones who get good grades.
A dead out pain in the ass. Grades unreasonable hard and doesn't scale. Dropped class w/ a Withdrawal Passing; Couldn't stay in there....
a lot of info
He is a very good professor, he might be hard and the projects can be hard but if you go to his office and look at the past projects you will know what he wants. He knows lot about hosp and all the subjects he teachs. I try to take any class that he teachs, mainly because you can learn alot from him.
He s a sweetheart! love him..he is funny and fair..people who don t like him are not ready for a challenge, and do not like criticism...go to his extra help and u will get an A, it is not an easy class..but if u put enough effort in ur work u ll be fine this class is wut a real college course should be..if u ready for challenge take it! Go Zacchill
ok...helpful
he is the worst teacher I have ever had, his lectures are not relevant to any of his tests, he his not helpful at all. I have taken a lot of courses at Johnson & Wales and honestly this is the worst one I have ever taken.. it is pretty much impossible not to take him so when you do , just read the book do the vocab and pretty much teach yourself..
Soooo ridulous...all we did the entire class was look at websites from resorts. And reading online articles in size 8 font from the projector is bull sh*t and a complete waste of my time. I learned nothing except how to navigate a resorts web page and book a hotel room.
Try to avoid taking his class as an elective as this class should not exactly be a breeze, but should not be to difficult either. His Tests are hard, his projects are overwhelming, and he wont take a joke but tries to make them and fails. This is the class of my week I least look forward to, so unless you have four hours a night to study, avoid it
His test are hard. He makes you read articles off the overhead projector. I found that very annoying. I liked him though, he's a good man.
I had to drop his class. He gives a lot of work, is a very hard grader. Dont take his class. He thinks the only class you have on your schedule is his and that people to work and have a family. Dont take Zacchilli!!
Was worried about him at first but he's a really nice guy! So don't be intimidated, be prepared to take A LOT of notes but if you take good notes in class you'll be fine on tests. Test he give you essay and short answer questions then the day of the test pulls one out of a hat so prepare for them all.
Pretty much had to teach yourself in this class. His tests were hard and he wasn't helpful when I e-mailed him. I should have put off taking this class until someone else taught it.
Hard but not impossible. I can see why people wouldn't like him. His way of giving notes is different, much different, and it was confusing. We def had to teach ourselves for the final and his tests were hard. Not the worst prof but def not the best.
Drop his class now.
I thought he was tough, but very cute !!
He seems strict but very helpful. Literally my favorite teacher although he is tough. Would go out of my way to take his class. :)
Avoid. Taking this class from him. Hard grader and will not give you a second chance for anything. Very Unclear and non specific of what he wants.
Seriously drop this class when u can. He isnt helpfull dosnt care when you have questions when you need help and is completly rude to people he dosnt care for.
Drop his class now don't walk to academic services RUN. He does not teach you anything just how he is right and you are wrong. All he says is "REALLY" . Overall in my 4 years at JWU the worst teach there avoid him at all cost. He needs to find another job soon because he is a waste of the students time and money. I learned nothing in his class.
Best Teacher I've had a JWU providence. He knows his stuff, he's a hard professor but will help you. Be prepared to work hard, and have a lot of work, but it will deff. pay off Will help you down the road too, he writes great letters of recomendations.
He was very regimented and organized. He would help you with whatever you needed as long as you email him. Don't go up to him without an appt. and expect him to help you. I loved the way he gave a break and tried to mix up what he was teaching. If you understand the fact that going to college means earning your grade through assignments then I recommend him! His classes are also hysterical!
Peter gave me F grade even if i got 80 scores on final test. He was very serious with all the assignments and homework. I hate him, not gonna choose his class anymore.
He is a very hard professor. This is by any means NOT an easy A. He is a fair professor. Lots of work. Class is not boring he usaully makes it interesting. Hes a nice guy. Don't take this class if you wanna slack off because there is a lot of work but he is a good professor
NEVER AGAIN AM I TAKING THIS PROFESSOR! he has no consideration for others! And is not afraid to fail anyone no matter what the situation is and no matter how hard you try even if you receive low scores!
I really don't recommend taking any of his classes. It's true, he is rude and shows no consideration for your success or failure in the class (no matter how hard you try.)He is extremely unfair ethically and gives no chances. He also gives a million assignments a week, you'll drown in them. You'll be fine with any other professor, but not him.
Great Professor, you need to be prepared, attend class and make sure you pay attention. You will earn your degree the right way because he teaches you real world stuff and assigns work that you will do once out of the college. If your first assignment is a failing grade don't panic, meet with him and see other examples sometimes that can so help!
Prof Z. is a really great professor. He is a hard grader gives a lot of work. He is aways willing to meet with you in his office. I personally think he is a really funny guy. Taking him will benefit u in the longrun because he teaches a lot of great stuff
Hand writing is hard to read. Textbook use for look up Test answer and project, do not use in class. Two huge projects for final grade.
Lost my paper and lied to me in the eye that i never turned it in. Knowledge of the industry is not worth anything when people you are teaching it to don't want to hear your voice. He is very smart and very useless ! Rude, careless, and inconsistent in providing learning material. You are better off just reading the book on your own.
Don't take peter's class, it is waste your time in his class, he does't care your personal situation, even you explain to him with 100% passionate. finally he will give you a very low grade, such as 15 out of the 50. no matter how many pages you wrote, he is hard and horrible teaching style, he is not good enough to be a teacher.
He is awesome!! gives a lot of work but is very helpful and all test are open textbook. The textbook is essential in class.
Does not give formal notes. Very unclear what he expects in writing assignments. Grades harder than any other professor in my 3 years at jwu, no matter how much effort i put into the assignment trying to meet his expectations it was never good enough. would never take his class again. wish i was warned.
If you are here to actually learn TAKE HIM. He is the best. You will learn so much from him. It's a very hard class, but well worth it. Tests are open book and super easy. If you show him that you care about your grade he will bend over backwards to help you. Anyone who says anything different was probably too lazy to go for extra help.
Challenging prof.I learned so much relevant info from his class. He is very flexible when it comes to office hours or times to meet. The tests are open book which some what helps. The assignments can be overwhelming. I recommend taking him if you take your classes seriously and want to earn your grade the right way.

the worst
He is tough. He likes things to be done to the best of ability, but he gives everyone the same chance to do well. He is fair, but if you are not prepared to actually pay attention and spend time on the work, then don't take this class.
He's very practical. He will push you to the limit of work that you can finish. But at the end of the day, he'll answer any questions you have. If you don't want to work, don't take him. I think he's really hilarious.
This was the worst class Ive ever taken at JWU. He is not clear about his expectations and his favorite saying is "depth, description and detail." No matter what you have written he is going to say you didnt explain enough. His assignments are overwhelming. (50 pg paper). I wouldnt recommend this professor unless you want to bring down your GPA.
I am a straight A student, and Im just here to warn anyone considering taking him. DONT. His assignments are insanely hard & very unclear of what he wants. HARD grader. His lectures are not in detail, handwriting messy and unclear. You will only learn if you READ THE BOOK.
do not take if you like your free time or getting good grades
Zacchilli gets a bad rap from some students because they don't like to put in the work. I have had him for two courses and is probably one of my favorite professors at JWU. He's tough and he challenges you but it's all so that you can learn to critically think and analyze. As long as you show up, participate, and put the work in, you'll do well.
He's a terrible teacher. Yes he pushes you, but not in the right direction, he just says you're wrong and will not clarify anything. He pushes you until you're lost and confused, then in the end people "like him" because they think they learned something. Just because you're pushed does not mean you gained anything, it means you bled for nothing.
Well where to start ...
He expects a lot from students. He is disliked most of the time because he doesn't hand A's out in his class, but everyone seems to forget that we are in college not grade school. If you work hard and actually think about the assignments you will be fine.
In all honesty I feel sorry for anyone who have to take this class. I got a "D" and I'm a straight B student. Thanks to him my life in JWU is ruin forever. His case studies are ridiculously hard, its always his way or "your dead". He will glare at you if your late - more like there goes all your points. exams are confusing. Just don't take him.
I am a straight A students with a couple of B's. I have never experienced a teacher as hard and rude as him. He does not give out A's and his cases are ridiculous and his grading is not even close to fair. I want to cry just thinking about how much time I spent doing work for his class only to receive C's and D's. He should not be a professor.
It is possible to get A's in his class. However you have to really work hard for it and know what he is looking for. My advice get on his good side. He is a lot more helpful and his classes become enjoyable. I have taken him twice because once you know exactly what he wants it becomes very easy.
This guy should no be allowed to still teach at JWU. If you don't do things the way he does you'll fail! Keep in mind his job is to teach, I learned absolutely nothing in this man's class. Why has the University not done anything about this man, poor excuse for a college professor.
He is hard, I wont lie. But you do learn so much from him if you are willing to put in the work. He will give you help but you do have to ask for it. I'd rather him over an easy professor I learn nothing from.
I took Professor Zachilli for my in summer, for my HOSP HR. I got a bad grade, however I still happy to be in Professor Zachilli's class. He is very professional, he is probably most knowledge Professor in JWU. you have to take him once in your life. If he passes you then JWU will pass you. He is awesome .
DO NOT TAKE HIM. Hard grader, have to go above and beyond his expectations x10 to get an A. Not clear on what he expects from the work he assigns.
WORST TEACHER AT JWU. HE SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TEACH HERE. It make me so angry that my money is paying his salary for him to treat his students so poorly. DO NOT TAKE HIM. Worked so hard to be under graded on EVERYTHING.
Worst teacher at Johnson & Wales. He is so arrogant towards his students and speaks way to fast throughout his lecture. He points out what you are doing wrong in front of everyone throughout the whole class. DO NOT take him if you do not have to.
Easily the worse professor in history of professors. If you don't read the book you will not pass the tests, because his style of notes is just write key terms on the board and then attempt to explain them and they will not make sense. Does not accept late work. Avoid taking him at all costs!!
Work is very detailed.
He is a good prof. if you have any questions, he would answer you and show you example in his office. Tests are difficult. The participation matters. From his class can learn a lot.
Strict but you learn a lot, always available during office hours
Prof. Z is fair, kind, and a wonderful teacher!
Never uses the textbook in class but that's what all of your tests are based on. Don't bother taking notes because they're not going to help.
He was interesting to say the least, book was required but he barely noted on it, yet ALL of his tests were based on the book! His lectures are confusing and have nothing to do with the tests, read the book, do the homework and show on important days. He starts off as a nice guy prof but the grading gets tougher as the weeks go by.
He is terrible. Grades EVERYTHING based on his opinion and the more detail, the better grade as he says. No rubrics. He constantly calls people out and its just plain rude. My advisor even told me this guy takes this level 2000 course way too seriously. TONS of assignments, hard tests with short answers, and a huge project. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
The class was tough, but I enjoyed his class overall. I sat in the front and I believe that was beneficial as this was a night class and it was easier to stay awake. We are on our own for studying for the midterm and final. No in class notes or anything. Book heavy. He is very into Connect online learning and this was very beneficial to the class.
A lot of people don't like him right away, but I think that he's a pretty great professor when you get to know him. If you approach him about your grades he is willing to help you out, as long as you make an effort to succeed. You need Connect for this course and all the tests are based off that. He is very emphatic about participation in class!
Has a lot of industry knowledge and real-world experience. His lectures are interesting. Be sure to take notes; you'll need them for tests. His projects/ papers are hefty, but doable with planning. His tests are a bit ridiculous; heavy focus on tiny details. Anyone calling him "mean" didn't contribute in class or was on their phone the whole time.
When my grandmother died and I asked him asking if I could take a test at a different time so I could go to the funeral he said yes and told me to come to his office, he then told me he didn't believe me because I had missed2 classes he told me and to ask him at the end of the term if I could take the test and when I did he told me it was too late
Clearly doesn't teach anything that is on his test. Expects you to know how to do the case studies without even explaining them or showing examples so when you get back your paper you can expect to get a D or lower. C if your lucky. Save your time and take a better professor because you are going to have a hard time.
Grading is EXTREMELY unclear for case studies! In class assignments counts as extra credit for exams, homework is online. you are NOT allowed to use laptops or phones during class even though the book is online. The exams are extremely hard. Grading goes off of exams, 3 case studies, and online homework.. you have to ace them all to be successful.
WORST WORST WORST professor!! Tons of assignments and homework! Exams are hard! Never pick him NEVER!!!
He is a really intelligent professor who really knows what he's talking about and isn't afraid to call you out when you don't know what your doing. There's a lot of note-taking, a lot of writing assignments, and difficult tests. He liked me so I was alright but he is definitely very sarcastic and can come off as a little mean at times.
He is very unclear with directions, he doesn't have a set scheduled syllabus nor is he consistent with his communications. He'll announce a deadline in class but online will have an entirely different due date. He forgets what direction he gave the class before. He constantly changes requirements for assignments.
Very rude. Just downright condescending, conceited and smug. He'll make you feel bad for having no knowledge of the hotel/hosp industry even though he never taught it to you. Gives huge projects that are outrageous, you can't use your laptop to take notes, tests are very detail oriented of which some material was never covered in class.
The best professor at Johnson and Wales. His class can be a lot of work but the knowledge you learn makes it so worth it. Do not skip out on the opportunity to take any class with him. If you care about getting a job after college and having confidence in your knowledge of the industry, take one of his courses.
I have a learning disability and the professor refused to accommodate me (with legal accommodations) and he judged my worthiness of being in college.
Professor Zacchilli was amazing. He is so funny and such a good and caring professor. He took the time to get to know all of us as students and made connections with us individually. The way he teaches is very effective in my opinion and I learned a lot from him!
I went into this class a little nervous due to his overall rating but he is a great professor. Attendance is important and he is thorough with his lectures, super accessible and helpful person. Helped me find opportunities when I was job searching. The class work was primarily weekly quizzes on the reading, discussion posts, and the main project.
A entry level class and this guy grades so hard for no reason. Don't be discouraged when you take your time to do it correctly and he's still picky about the response. Never again with this mfer.
Doesn't explain anything. When asked for help or an example he just re-sent me the instructions. Grades are not weighted properly. Has become comfortable and lazy it's a shame because he has so much to offer! Completely ignored many questions throughout the session. Class could be extremely valuable! Take Professor (Dr. Warren) if you have a chance
Worst professor ever. Humiliates students during class. Irrational. Do anything you can to avoid.
