Excellent course. Learn to think dualistically, interesting.
Awesome experience! Great discussions!
Phame's class was amazing. It changed my life!
Best prof. ever!!!
Best professor ever. really makes you think
1 word ...awesome
Phame is a great professor, I recommend taking his classes

Phame really opened my eyes to a lot of stuff. Unlike any class I have ever had. I wish that I had a major in his department, I'd take any class he taught.
THis is the best class that I have ever took. The project will change your life!
So interesting to listen to..this course is a must-take, you'll learn so many interesting things..it's great for first semester freshmen
the answer to everythin is 'it depends' , you can't have your own opinion, unless is matches his. Does challenge you to think open-mindedly.

He is a good teacher and the class is fun for the most part. Just take notes in class and look over notes for the test but all of the tests are essays but you can pretty much BS all of them and stil get a good grade.
Phame is very cool and likes to challenge his students to think outside the box . All you have to do is go to class and write down the one page notes and you will do fine.

This class is incredible. Phame's teaching style will really make you think. This class is worth taking, even if it isn't required. It will change your life.
Best class to take for 1st semester freshman. Phame opens ur eyes to new thoughts and Ideas, the project is something to take seriously, don't put it off, but really do the activities, it's a life changing experience. Think outside the box..
Nice guy but not a huge fan of his classes. I get really lost in the notes.
Phame is such a good guy. He really tries to involve his students, and is fun to be around. He opens up your eyes and mind to new ideas. The Perfect class for first semester Freshman. The project is fun if you let it be!
Awesome class-have to study and do the project though-but fun to go to Friday group sessions!!
Phame is my favorite teacher so far at CMU. I ABSOLUTELY love his HEV 100 class. It is so interesting and insightful. He really opens your eyes to alot of ideas that you would have never thought about. AWESOME TEACHER!!
Great Professor who is willing to help you in anyway he can!
HE IS THE COOLEST GUY EVER
Phame is a great teacher! But the tests are kinda hard. Friday sessions are great, overall I loved having this class, you will look forward to it!
I cannot say enough great things about Phame and this class! He is definitely one of the best professors at CMU. The first day of class, he said that he would change our entire way of thinking, and he totally did! He is very inspiring, funny, and unique.
You know, I knew nothing coming into this class about what to expect on development in the humans. I learned so much and had the best time in that class. Phame is the coolest guy, and is worth taking any class he teaches.
Phame is a super nice guy and he is always there to help his students. This is a class I recommend to all people, you really learn a lot and whether or not you get a good grade you walk out of the class with some knowledge.
He is a great teacher and really knows is stuff. He is also very enthusiatic about teaching and it makes him easy to listen to.
I LOVE PHAME!! THIS CLASS IS AWESOME TAKE IT!
I Love Phame!!! His class was sooo much fun! I have a new perspective on life b/c of him!
Phame is a GREAT guy and prof. He expresses many new ideas that are helpful in everyday life. He dared me to ask out my crush, and we've been dating for 2 years now. THANKS!!
Phame is the best teacher I've had so far in college. For the first few weeks I didn't know his last name because he wanted all of us to call him by his first. He's the first teacher to ever do that and I hope he never changes. Grades are evil!
This class was awesome! Phame was such a fun teacher and definitely gave me a new perspective to my everyday life! Loves to meet with students and challenge them to better themselves!
Phame is such a great teacher! he helps so much with any question you have. and the class is great it made me change my major because it is so interesting!!!
The professor makes the class very interesting. The PDP was stressful but I learned a lot about the camput and myself! Friday sections are also fun.
Phame is such a great guy! I only wish I would be able to take a class with him. He was a guest speaker in one of my HEV classes and he was great! If you get the chance to take a class with Phame...do it!!! great guy, awesome stories, very funny!!
he is cool
He is excieting and makes me feel like i need to knwow hat i am learning.
Great professor, very interesting concepts.
He is a very interesting and good professor. We had lots of fascinating discussions in this class.
Phame was the best teacher I had throughout my college experience. He gets you thinking in ways you never would have thought of. He opens up your mind to a lot of interesting ideas. His classes may seem hard and stressful at times but the outcome is always worth it, you learn a lot about the subject and you learn a lot about yourself.
OMG!!! One of the best profs I've ever had! Awesome guy! go to class and you will do just fine!
Phame is amazing. He is by far one of the best teachers I've ever had and I doubt I'll find many (if any) teachers better than him. He is so helpful and he makes you *think*- and if you get the chance in his class, say no to grades! Take a class he teachers; you won't regret it. And do the consciousness ceremony he offers! It's sweet.
Phame was one of the best teachers I've ever had. He really makes you think about some things in everyday life that you may not have ever thought about before. There's Friday sectionals which are required to attend and there's about 5 exams total which are pretty easy if you understand the course concepts. Also, two projects. TAKE PHAME!!!

Phame is probably the best prof at CMU. In coming freshmen should be required to take his HEV 100 class. if u r taking on of those FEY classes, drop it now and take HEV, he teaches u all of the FYE crap in a much more enlightening way PLUS MORE! if you do the music exchange, relaxe about the notes, no need for much detail. Go PHAME!
I loved this class and thought he was very helpful. Also he loves when students interact with him and around campus, so if you like to get involved then it will help you with getting points in class!
Phame is the most wonderful teacher any of you will ever have. If you have a chance, make sure you have a class with him before you graduate, the earlier the better. He will make your college experience even more memorable, he makes you think.
Great man. Great teacher.
Best professor ever. He totally changed the way I look at life. Class is easy if you are interested. I just took it b/c of him, and I ended up loving it!
You cant help but like this guy. His energy and outlook on life is amazing.
I love this class, and Phame. He will make you look at life from a completely different perspective. He really cares about what he teaches, which makes his teaching that much better. I am definetly going to be taking more of his classes.
extremely fun class, awesome guy
hard class w/ two papers due every week for the first half of the semester, but a great prof. really teaches you to look at the world in a completely different way. great to talk to about pretty much anything. the no grade plan is pretty cool too, but definitely difficult to go thru not knowing your grade when its a 6credit class
Best professor ever! Gets you to look at life in a whole new way. i learned some of the ideas of the class a bunch of times before and they never made sense until i took phame's class. If if you have the chance, take a class of his!
He is a really fun and interesting professor. There were 2 papers due per week (each class), but the class really helped me adjust to college. Although I'm not that interested in social psychology, he made the class interesting.
Very easily the best professor that I have had at CMU, I would recommend him for any class. He has an extremely interesting worldview and teachers very clearly. Overall a great person and a great teacher.
Phame is AWESOME! This class had no book and it was tailored to the students in the class. We had weekly journal articles to read and a 2 page reflection due, a class project/exploration, and a final exam! This class was great. I encourage anyone interested in "self" to take the course
Most awesome Prof. I ever had!
Phame is a wonderful proffesor!! It made me get the most out of my first semester of college. His Personal Development project really helps this. Class was always fun and interesting and we had many fun out of class activities. I would reccomend this prof to anyone! He is a very fair grader and I reccomend the no grade plan!!
He's a great professor, but expects too much than is physically possible in the new honors program this year.
Phame is absolutely amazing! Definitely one of the best professors I will ever have! He really cares about his students, and he really tries to get you to stretch yourself as a person and think for yourself. I would highly recommend any class by this professor.
Best professor ever! Really makes you think about everything. Fun to listen to his lectures in class. Don't take this class for granted, because all of the information is really useful for your own personal development.
One of the most interesting professors I will ever had. Really makes students think deeply and think about their education. LOVE THE HONORS PROGRAM AND LOVE HIM!!
the work in this class was easy, however, there was SOOOO much of it. It was a lot to expect from a student in their first semester of college in an introductory course. This was probably the class that i put most of my time and energy into and i thought it was going to be a blow off class. However, he does truely care about the students
Really cares and wants to help. Would recommend him, and take a class with him again.
Phame is terrific in every way! He definitely helped me grow a ton in my first semester.
He is an incredibly nice and caring professor. He will meet with any student outside of class to help with school or anything else. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the premise of this class. I thought it was totally unnecessary, did not like writing reflections and then discussing them in class and thought the projects weren't very influential.
Awesome
Awesome! He will make the transition to college and interesting one, and will do whatever he can to help you develop as a student, scholar, and person. If you ever have the opportunity to have a one-on-one convo with Phame....seize it!!!
Did not like this class at all, was the bain of my existence for the semester and everyone I talked to did not enjoy the class at all. Very few people like the class and even less people can find the point in taking the course. Its is exactly like FYE execpt that you pay more to take it and it goes for the full semester. Reccomended: Don't take.
Phame is awesome and Honors 100 is an eye opening experience. Go in with an open mind and you'll love it.
He is really great and has different &eye opening opinions, but the class itself wasn't the best. Some people may have gotten something from it. I know I did; it forced me to go to events&do things I wouldn't have done before. But the actual class periods weren't that great most of the time, because of the guidelines he had to adhere to for honors.
Phame is someone you have to form your own opinion about, but in my personal opinion, I didn't like him. He said everybody was entitled to their own opinion and ideas, yet he seemed to be drilling his own ideas into our heads. The class was pointless, granted, they did have good motives behind their lessons, but still common sense, pointless stuff.
Phame is awesome! His lectures can be boring at times, but most of the time they're awesome! He made Honors 100 a pretty enjoyable experience!
Phame is a really interesting person. His class was kind of intense at times. The reflections can be overwhelming at times, but overall, it's a good class. The mentors run classes on Thursdays and he is never there on Thursdays.
I loved Phame. He's so enlightened and I want to be like him. I had a little crush on him. He changed my life.
Phame's a good guy. I didn't like that he's not the one to grade our reflections, though. He has ideas to share but then doesn't care to hear our feedback. Grad assistants like to take points off reflections but don't tell you why. Fun class, but useless if you're already a critical thinker. It was just more work to do on top of everything else.
The class is straight forward and easy. Phame is pretty much an open book. However, the class does not hold much value if you already have critical thinking skills.
Whoever said that Phame won't take the time to look at your papers is a lie. He looks at those papers thoroughly and loves reading them and getting students views on a certain subject. Best Honors director ever. EVER. Period.
Great guy and he really makes you think.
The only grades for this class are the four papers and the PDP, so make sure that you make an effort when you are writing. Phame may seem intimidating, but he is really nice when you talk one on one. The class structure will differ from this year, so some things may change. If you have class twice a week, he will not be there on the second day.
Phame really made the class. His lectures were really interesting and thought provoking, and anyone who actually wanted to become a better person or think more critically got something out of it. Anyone who complains most likely did not try and understand what he taught. I wish he had spoke more than the guest speakers did, but it was still great.
Phame is the coolest man on the planet, bar none. He gives incredibly inspirational lectures that keep you interested from the beginning to the end.
Phame is a fantastic professor, but what he teaches can be really hard to wrap your head around and challenges your beliefs.
Seriously Don't understand why people love him. He thinks he's a visionary when really he's just a good speaker. His ideas aren't revolutionary. Not a necessary class if you know how to think already. Some classes were interesting but overall totally pointless. A frustrating waste of money
His lectures are pretty interesting most of the time, but not as amazing as everyone makes him sound. He's a cool guy though and definitely cares about his students.
Low key really tries to get students to conform to "ideal Honors students". His lectures have nothing to do with the essays assigned. He's a cool guy overall, just wants you to overthink things. I recommend having a coffee chat with him for the PDP.
Phame is an awesome person if you take the time to get to know him outside of class (I totally recommend meeting with him for the PDP!) Phame is so caring and loves what he does, but the 7-9 lecture can get boring at times. There are only a few essays for a grade in the class, but if you do your best and FULLY answer the prompt you will be fine.
Phame makes HON100 a lot of fun with interesting discussion topics and projects. I wasn't the biggest fan of the essays because I felt not all were super relevant, but Phame's lectures always made me reflect back on myself even if I didn't agree with his ideas. If you go into this class with an open mind, you can really learn a lot.
Phame is one of the most humble and idealistic person I have ever met. He wants everyone to succeed in life, and as the honors director, he sees this commonly. He's very interesting to talk 1:1 with, and will help guide you in anyway possible. The essays are kind of random and irrelevant, but they make you think about various things.
Phame is one of the most caring and humble people I've ever met. Very down to earth. For one of your PDPs, I'd highly recommend doing a coffee chat with him. The lectures can be long, but he will really make you think. I wasn't a huge fan of the essays, but as long you fully answer the prompts, you will be fine.
Phame is really the leader of the Honors Cult at Central. Most students worship the ground he walks on simply because he lectures about thinking, which apparently most of them don't do. Most people who have had some form of critical thinking class will find the HON 100 class utterly worthless. Papers in this class have abysmal feedback.
Phame is nice, but Honors 100 seems like a waste of time. It's not a very impactful class if you had open-minded high school teachers who encouraged critical thought. I found myself bored by the lectures, although the PDP was pretty cool because it pushed me to do things I might not have done otherwise. The bi-weekly essays were a nuisance, though.
Phame is a very caring professor and surprisingly easy to access despite being in such a large lecture. The class is very project- and writing-heavy and it is sometimes overwhelmingly boring and pretentious. But it is required for the scholarship so try to make the most of it.
Phame is a good guy. He genuinely cares about all of his students. The class consisted of mostly lecture which sometimes got boring. Bi-weekly essays got old pretty fast, especially when it was impossible to earn 100% and they did not tell you why you missed the points you did. The PDP was the most fun part of the class.
Lectures are often a bit abstract and he makes you think, challenges you to rethink all of your beliefs and expand your ideas and morals. Most of the grading in the class is done by grading assistants.
Phame spends the entire class lecturing on the pillars of Honors. He is very interesting and inspirational at points, though I did not always buy into what he says. While his ideas and curriculum are important, never forget to think for yourself during the course. Be a critical thinker and HON 100 will go smoothly.
Phame is a pretty cool guy and a slightly above average professor. Generally, in HON100, I felt that his lectures did not directly tie into the assignments he gave us, but nonetheless the class was easy and the activities were interesting.
Phame's HON100 is more of an experience than a class. It's essentially what you make of it - if you think it's just dumb, you won't get anything out of it. The papers aren't the most exciting things, and feedback is nonexistent if you don't opt for the No Grade Plan. It could be much worse for an Honors requirement.
Love everything about Phame. The class is reading, essay, and lecture heavy, but not too much, just what you'd expect for an Honors course. Phame is an entertaining professor and great for class participation.
Phame is an angel. He is retiring at the end of the semester and I wish I could have spent more time with him. He encourages growth and mistakes in a way most in academia would never. Easy to confide in, always up for coffee. Embodies what education should be. You will be missed.
Phame is what academia was intended to be! Super kind and encouraging. Wants you to challenge your personal biases. Great listener, especially when it comes to topics outside the course. He genuinely wants to know you. Always willing to have coffee :) We will miss you!
Seemed like he had a political agenda, he is a good professor, he cares for his students and encourages them to get outside their comfort but this class was the least educational I ever took. Taught me nothing except to be firm in my beliefs among my peers.
