She is such a nice lady, and shes pretty easy.
it was like a high school algebra class, but she was nice.
she is very nice and pretty easy she has an accent but its not too hard to understand..overall she is easy, helpful and nice.
She's a sweetie and truly wants everyone to do well!
Very nice woman. Gave me so much help after class. Really cares about students.
Great math teacher. Know how to do the examples in class and youll ace the test. No surprises.
Very easy and very nice.. as long as you go to class and know the examples she gives its an easy A
she is sooo nice. she explains everything pretty well and her classes are not impossible to get a good grade in. Do the homework and you will do fine
GO PAPACHRISTOS!!!!
Great teacher!!
Not too difficult, however she has a very strong Greek accent and sometimes it is difficult to understand what she is saying.
Great TEacher. Easy Class. If you go to class, take note and pay attention, you will do fine on her tests. Always willing to meet with you during office hours if you do not understand something. But she explains everything step by step in class.
she is awesome she is very clear, understanding and reasonable. You just need to show up to class and take notes and you should pass with flying colors
SHESS AWSOME!!! lots of notes, but she's real nice and helpful! defintly take her!
Awesome teacher. Take her if you get the chance. She helps you through everything and sees you as a person, not just a student.
i loved prof papachristos! she is so sweet & helpful with anything and always makes sure you understand. the class is very easy and such an easy A as long as you do the work & study a bit. i would absolutely recommend her to anyone =)
lots of notes, but shes real easy and niceee
Excellent professor. She gives a lot of notes, but they are helpful. If you have difficulties, she is VERY willing to help. Cares about the student's success. TAKE HER CLASS!
One of the best math teachers I've ever had. Ever...
she is great and helpful!
i had her for 2 classes... math for health sciences and stats and shes good... she gives sooooo many notes and goes soo fast but shes a realy good teacher and always trys to help students... shes always in her office so if you need help shell really help you out... theyres a lot of tests and quizes so you alwyas have a chance to bring your grade up
Great teacher, gives a LOT of notes but if you take them down, then are extremely helpful, excatly what is on her tests. She doesn't try to trick you, always tells you what you need to know, nothing you don't. Very helpful as well. I'm terrible at math but she is good at explaining things. Def. take her class over any other professor.
good teacher, easy tests if you study, takes lots of notes but they come right from the book so its easy to follow
she is one of the worst teachers i've ever had. she is rude and totally unclear about what she wants you to know. even though she gives review sheets, the problems on the test are nothing like the review. i went to her for extra help and she told me i didnt need it and i would do fine. i got a D. that's notnot fine. don't take her
not a bad teacher; her tests can be tough but she does what she can to be fair. i got anywhere from 50s-80s on tests/quizzes & a 90-something, but still ended up w/ a B; she gives easy extra credit and drops the lowest score(s).
Difficult. Goes really fast. If you can keep up and catch onto math easily then take her. Her tests are long but the final was easy. I felt like I was in high school when I took her.
if you glance at the chapter ahead of time and grasp the concepts at least you dont need to take notes except for the examples. those are good for the quizzes and tests. she lets you have cheat sheets too so get the 'how to' down and you are set! read the tests thoroughly though, the wording is tricky sometimes. pretty easy
So nice! great woman. You have to ask questions and pay attention she will love you. Tests and quizs not bad take her for freshman nursing math. Im not good at math and still got an A
She is a great professor, walks you through problems and very helpful. Statistics can be a daunting class in itself but she makes the class as painless as possible. Obviously it's math so you have to do the problems to understand what you're doing but definitely a professor I would want to take again.
she is a great professor i had alredy taken stats in high school but she was much clearer and her tests are very reasonable. everything is explained very thorughly and is almost always available for extra help
Papachristos is difficult to understand and moves very fast. While this class should have been very easy, she made it hard by writing confusing notes and never explaining anything clearly. This class should have been a grade booster but instead dropped my GPA. if you have other options, do not take her!
NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER WOULD I WISH THIS PROFESSOR ON ANYONE. She made my life horrible. I couldn't wait for the semester to be over specifically because of this class. I would literally cry everyday after this class. She's not clear when she tries to describe something and expects you to know everything. Moves super fast and is sort of rude.
Although it's a little difficult to understand what she is saying sometimes, she writes everything, and I mean everything, on the board. There are no surprises on the tests and they're not hard. Had this class for freshmen year math, and it really helped for sophomore year. She is also willing to help you if you just ask!
She made my life miserable. If I ever went to her for help, she would just get mad at me the entire time and expect me to know what to do. Um, why do you think I'm coming to you??!! She is a very difficult grader. She doesn't seem to care if you try or not. I would not recommend her to anyone. If you do get her, SWITCH OUT ASAP!!!!!!!
The most important thing about Phani Papachristos is that she is preparing you for your career (I'm assuming nursing) and she does a great job at it. She is one of those teachers that expects a lot from you, but realistically you should do the same for yourself, so I really appreciated how Papachristos treated and taught our class.
She has a really heavy accent and is very monotone. Besides not being able to understand her, she doesn't explain things well either (isn't that such a great combo :). Have fun teaching yourself.
I had the disadvantage of having her in class AND as my academic adviser. D not go to her for help or with questions because she expects you to know everything like the back of your hand. She has a very heavy accent and is difficult to understand so be prepared for that. All around i would not suggest taking her class.
LOVED this prof. She is so helpful, clear, and wants you to succeed. Art of Thinking was difficult for some students, and she would have a lot office hours and is very helpful. She drops 2 quizzes and 1 test! She is respected by the students and is really understanding when you take your quizzes. I would definitely take this professor again
She's not that nice of a person, but the class is like basic algebra, so you should be fine. She hates when you ask her for help, she takes it personally if you don't understand something. Like are you a professor or not?
This class was super easy if you ever took an algebra class. The notes contain exactly what's on the tests. Run just like any high school math class. She does take attendance every class, as well as checks the homework.
A good math teacher as long as you copy the notes and pay attention in class. Expects participation! Drops the lowest test and quiz grade and always goes over homework in class thoroughly. Does sometimes rush students who are taking quizzes past suggested time. Besides that, sweet lady.
Professor Papachristos is awesome, she was like a mom to me and my class. A lot of quizzes and tests but they are fairly simple and she tells you what you need to know for them the class before. As long as you do the homework and participate and study a little, you'll be fine. A must have professor here at SHU.
Would 10/10 take again. Sometimes her accent is hard to understand and she goes through each lesson kind of fast. But she is 100% most helpful teacher, very easy course if you took algebra, precalc, or geometry in high school. Easiest class I've ever taken, there is always homework but it took me 15 minutes tops. Gives very Good notes, SO TAKE THEM
This class was required for my major in nursing. I was never very good at math, but she is available during her office hours for extra help. Lectures are quite long but make sure to copy everything she puts on the board. Lots of quizzes, but they will help you in the end if you study and do well on them. Always do your homework. Final is not bad.
She was extremely nice, and made sure you understood her. I took her for Math 105 and easily one of the best classes I had so far.
Great teacher and would definitely take her again. She was very clear i teaching and is always available for help. She drops the lowest test and quiz grades and gives extra credit. She wants you to do well in class. Very nice lady.
She gives barely any partial credit and is a really hard grader. Heavy accent, sometimes hard to understand. Lectures are pretty much clear. Make sure you take notes.
She takes a lot of points off for minimal mistakes. She's extremely straight forward when giving notes and information, and gives great reviews for exams. She likes it her way, learn it.
Great teacher gives you everything you need for the quizzes and test. Very nice as long as you take notes and do the homework you'll do well. Definitely take her again.
DO NOT take her for STATISTICS or you can expect a quiz/test every week. Very easy to fall behind. SHE NEVER ENDS CLASS EARLY EVEN AFTER QUIZZES. Nice lady but super quick to take off points while grading which is annoying. She also has a heavy greek accent.
very nice but i would not want to get on her bad side, she goes over a lot of material in one class, very easy to get lost, never lets you out early,
Such a sweet lady. I would definitely take her again. Gave a good amount of hw but it was easy. We went over the hw in class so make sure you do it. A lot of quizzes and 4 exams but she reviews before all of them.
I LOVED her, such a sweet lady and class went by quick. Gives so many examples and writes everything out. Homework every class but it's not heavy. A lot of quizzes and 4 test, plus cumulative final. Very helpful outside of class but takes off points for silly mistakes. I do recommend her because she goes at a slower pace but still is up to speed.
The class is a joke the curriculum is so so easy don't worry about not passing, definitely take PapaC she's amazing and funny! Quizzes every class which were such a grade booster, tests were easy i never studied and got an A
Prof. Papachristos is a great professor. She truly wants her students to succeed, and is available in the Student Success Center for extra help. She makes learning easy.
This class was super easy. Prof. Papachristos gives great notes, is very organized, and helps you understand the material in an easy way. She drops the lowest test and quiz grade, so it's very easy to do well in her class. Would definitely recommend!!!
Very unhelpful. Expects you to know everything and gets mad when you dont know the answers. She yells at the class for not understanding the material when she didnt even teach it yet. Annoying accent, very lecture, quiz, and homework heavy. Will NEVER let you out early
Prof. Papachristos is a great professor. She is the only math professor for freshman nursing to give quizzes which helped to boost my grade. Make sure you show up for class because she deducts points off your average when you don't show up. She gives SOOOOO many notes but they really help.
the content is very easy and understandable but she definitely takes the course very seriously and expects a lot from you. takes a lot of points off on tests and quizzes for small mistakes even if your answer was right. attendance and participation matter as much (if not more) as your test and quiz grades
Seems to have no point system, takes way too many points off for one question. Assigns a lot of work, almost too may problems . Gets aggravated if a question if a question is not answered in 10 seconds, even when learning it for the first time. I would not reccommened taking her class. Nice lady, not best prof .
Very nice women, but has her moments. Every other class you either have a quiz or a test. She likes to take points off if your answer isnt to her liking even though your answer is correct. She doesnt post grades and expects you to figure out your average yourself.
Great professor but you must go to class for participation and attendance. Homework after every class and quizzes and tests after learning multiple chapters. Around for extra help if needed.
You will have a test or quiz almost every class. Be prepared to teach yourself. The content isn't hard but she takes off points for every little thing and especially if you don't solve it the way she wants. She doesn't allow laptops in class and makes you print all the notes. I felt like I was back in Middle school definitely not a college class.
Papachristos was there for extra help if you reached out to her. She has good intentions but not my favorite professor. She took off so many unnecessary points on quizzes it was very frustrating. I wouldn't take her again if I don't have to. She gave us quizzes like every class & I started to really unprepared with the material given.
Papachristos cares about her students and is very nice however she has her moments. If you take her be prepared to have a quiz or a test literally every single class. There are enough grades to calculate from which can sorta be a good thing and she drops the lowest quiz to help. You definitely need to pay attention and focus closely on the homework
Be prepared to have a quiz or exam literally EVERY CLASS. It was frustrating I was taking Anatomy Chemistry and this math class all at the same time and boy was it difficult. She goes through notes so fast and when I asked a question she never really would answer it. It was nice that she did drop lowest quiz and she dropped lowest exam for us.
This professor was ok but definitely not my favorite. Phani was a very tough grader and she never posted any grades to Blackboard. She sent your midterm and final grades to the register which is ridiculous because you don't know how you're doing throughout the course. Also, she gives frequent tests and quizzes.
She is the worst teacher I have ever had in my entire lifetime. I needed accommodations for personal reasons that came up and she used it as an opportunity to bully me and hold an unreachable grade over my head. She is the meanest teacher and finds joy in seeing students struggle. she will make snarky comments and get mad if you dont understand.
Prof. Papachristos is a good math professor, for nursing math, it's mainly algebra 1 and she allows us to use calculators which other nursing math profs don't allow. we have weekly quizzes and she is available for office hours and accommodating if you miss class as long as you communicate. Weekly mymathlab assignments take only 10-15 minutes.
I had Professor Papachristos for nursing math and I definitely would not reccomend her. She is very hard to understand and just reads off the notes. She does make guided notes which is helpful. She is so strict about technology, you cant even have your phone on your desk. Lots of quizzes and exams. She gets mad when no one participates also.
DO NOT TAKE HER! she is the worst teacher i have ever had. she doesn't know how to teach, she takes points off of everything and anything. Put her as your last choice, if you get her CHANGE. please take my advice i dont wan't someone going through this. Unless you are very good at math do not take her. She is so hard to understand.
My only big issue with Professor Papachristos is that she goes way too fast during lecture I barley have time to write the notes let alone understanding the material. A good thing is she is available after class (Usually late) I was able to meet with her twice a week outside of class but was still fast so grades did not reflect my work.
The math itself is very easy but all she does is just read off the powerpoint she has and does no math. Her guided notes do help and if she likes you she will be nicer to you than others which will go a long way! Honestly if you just participate she'll like you.
Professor Papachristos was hands down the hardest professor I have had at SHU. If you are weak at math, she will make this more challenging. She called me stupid for asking to clarify a question. Be prepared to have a quiz every 1.5 weeks. If you do poorly on exams, you will most likely fail her class as it is exam heavy. Homework is only worth 5%!
Tests or quizzes almost every week, little weight on anything else. Participation matters and she gets mad if nobody participates. Class itself isn't too hard if you're good at math but can be challenging.
absolutely awful.
the math is not hard and was mostly a review from hs. notes are self explanatory, she explains them well. short, easy hw after most classes. theres quizzes almost every class, but they are short (abt 20 minutes) and helpful for both the midterm and final. she lets us keep the quizzes. she added 4 pts to the final because ppl did her course eval.
The course itself isn't bad (algebra 1, drug measurements, some trig). There's online homework after each class. She allows calculators for class and any tests. However, she takes off points for the smallest mistakes or if you don't do it her way. She is strict with phones, but allows iPads for notes. The more you participate, the better it'll be.
horrible
idk why her ratings r so bad, i took stats in hs and failed horribly and ended this class w an a. shes the only professor thats actually been able to get me to understand it. we had 7 quizzes, 4 exams, and 4 projects (guaranteed 100) and she drops lowest grade. everything is straight from what we learned in class and her notes r awesome so idk
This prof. was very frustrating. The lectures consisted of projecting the answer key onto the board and reading through the answers, rather than working through problems or explanations in front of the class. Very tough grader and very hard to understand bc of accent. DO NOT TAKE!! If you miss one class then you are lost and she is not forgiving.
i think she comes off stern at first but if u talk to her shes so sweet and caring and will help u with whatever u need. quizzes r quick and almost every class but is genuinely so helpful. her notes and reviews were so good my friends with other professors preferred hers. idk why the reviews were bad bc i would love to have another class.
I've been a straight A student all my life. This was the most stressful class I've taken and she def played a significant role in that. She just grades however she wants and will decide to knock off 20 points if she feels like it
Professor Papachristos overall was a good professor. Her grading is on the tougher side as you may get docked 20 points for one question with one part to it. Other than that, she is very understandable and a very nice lady. She is always accessible outside of class for help. I would take her again!
really hard grader, you hv to be so careful on exams she takes off every little point. she does homework after every class but it it helpful so do it. you don't use the textbook till the end of the semester but you need it for the mymathlab code
She is a nice lady but intimidating. Very very tough grader down to the smallest things. She will mark off anything. Not much hw in beginning of semester but towards Novermberish lots more and you need the textbook.
This professor has really good lectures and explained every topic in great detail. She also provided a lot of examples to make sure you really understood each concept. The only thing I will say is that she is a very strict grader and is strict with participation and each class will repetitively mention how important it is.
I am not a math person. My roommate had a significantly easier professor for the same credit. So many exams, quizzes and it is not fair compared to the other professors for same course credit. Although she is very hard, she was a nice person. If you are a math person this does not apply to you but if you struggle in math, this is a difficult course
IF YOU ARE NOT A STRONG MATH STUDENT DO NOT TAKE HER!! She has such a thick accent you cannot understand. Quizzes every week only ten questions which means no room for mistakes. I would email her and she would respond to me with a different name.
Does not do a great job of explaining the material. Quizzes almost every week sometimes back to back with an exam or another quiz. SUCH A HARD GRADER- will take points off for absolutely no reason. Hard to understand and not sympathetic to absences, even if they are excused for athletics or health issues.
so bad, basically just reads answer keys during class and doesn't explain anything just repeats whats on the board. some exams had material we haven't even learned or reviewed. one quiz had nothing to do with the chapter it was supposed to on. don't take her unless you have to.
Very straight forward class. Notes every class and quizzes usually every week unless there is an exam. She repeats herself a lot and makes the lessons very clear and easy to learn, reminded me of a high school class. I think she's easier than other Statistics professors from what I've heard-- I recommend.
Soo horrible! Took points off for the dumbest things, basically just reads answer keys during class and doesn't explain anything just repeats whats on the board. some exams had material we haven't even learned or reviewed. don't take her unless you have to. pls save yourself the headache
Professor Papachristos is a nice professor who cares alot about her students. That being said she is an extremly hard grader who will take off a lot of points for seemingly small mistakes. Lots of quizzes, lots of homework. There are absolutely no extra credit oppurtunities. Long lectures no phones never let out early. Wouldn't take again.
I absolutely loved this class. As someone who is not good at math at all, I was able to succeed well in this class. The lectures are very clear, and she gives reviews before the tests, which she gives you answers to beforehand. She tells you exactly what to expect and is always available for office hours. Arguably the best math professor.
She ended up dropping two quizzes and an entire exam at the end of the semester to help the class. She just wants everyone to succeed. As long as you do the online homework (its almost exactly like the quiz) you will be fine. The exams are usually the same questions on the quizzes, just with different numbers. Put a little work in you will be fine
Brutal teacher, doesnt care about students, slapped the back of my head, heavy accent. I like math and I am a good student and she made it crazy hard to get an A. Doesnt provide her notes you have to take em urself and grades very harshly. 10 to 20 points off if not EXACTLY how she wants it. Terrible experience do not take, worst prof so far at shu
This professor was one of the toughest instructors I've ever had. Her grading was very strict. If you made even a minor mistake, she would mark the entire answer wrong. I wouldn't recommend taking her class!
