if u would like o get f just take his class.he thinks he's teaching in harward univercity and you should know whatever he's teaching.
Doesn't explain concepts well. Ineffective teaching methods compared with others in dept. Purposely gives difficult exams that are a step above in-class notes in order to challenge students but this doesn't work if the material wasn't taught properly.
He is a decent professor. He teaches it fairly well I suppose. Took the class over the summer and it is really condensed. Lot's of work, and challenging tests. He is helpful, always willing to answer a question. Understand CALC 2 IS VERY HARD.
He is a decent teacher. I got an A in the class. You just have to work hard and do all the work your assigned even though its a lot it will pay off. He's not the hard one, Calc 2 is the hard thing about the class.
The material is though, I've taken Calc 2 at another University, and the way Cheifetz teaches it is actually better (easier). I took it over the summer and the workload is HEAVY! But if you keep up with it and ask questions the class is completely doable!

He is very clare explaning such a dificult subject as calc2. Of course, you have lots of homework and challanging tests but that's why you pay the college. He is always willing to answer all your questions, understand your situation. He loves his job and shows the students "the beauty of math."

this professor is the biggest retard ever.. he expects you to know everything and makes everything so much harder he gives a ton of work and hard tests. if you want your GPA to fall then take his class
One of the worst Math professors EVER. Doesn't give 2 dumps about his students, just how cool he thinks he is. Tests and workload are rediculously hard and excessive. How come other teachers can teach this class with 1/2 the workload this prick teaches with? Sounds to me that the teacher has the problem, not the students.

Not a very good teacher. He does not seem to care about his students enough to actually teach the material. Instead, you get an extremely unclear delivery coupled with brutal grading and some rudeness thrown in for good measure. No matter what kind of student you are, If you care about your GPA, stay away from him like the plague.

Avoid this man like the plague. He only passed one person in my calc 1 class. I think he gets off failing people. Very arrogent and rude.

Totally hard...I wish I had seen this site before I registered!!! But the take home test hasn't been too hard...but my first test was awful(no one got higher than a 65)...avoid at all cost!
This class is ridiculous! He is such a hard teacher and could careless if you passed or not. First day of class he said "i just want you guys to know that at least 80% of you will fail this class" Worst class ever!!!!
This professor is the most horrible, avoid him do not take his class, the only thing that he care is to scared people.... the way he grades is ridiculus
Bottom line about Cheifetz is that he wants you to learn, not memorize. Ignore him acting like a hardass first day of class, it doesn't last. Fact is he's a nice guy who has no problem reteaching anything so that EVERYONE in the class understands, so long as THE STUDENTS ask him questions. Quality professor, easy course.
just avoid his class......he is the hardest at Nassau,hard exam,fast teacher,except you to know math like him,never gave us the extra points he talked about.He said "they did not deserve to be here" the ppl who drop the class :S :S

He is a totally rude. He thinks he is smarter than you and makes you feel dumb. He goes to fast and doesnt explain.
1st day of class he tells us all to 'ask questions...don't be afraid that you're going to look stupid' then next thing you know, he yells at some kid for asking a question. go figure.

try to do as much homework as you can; he really likes to pile it on, but its important to get some practice, and then ask questions in class the next day. really devote yourself to the class...i couldn't imagine trying to juggle work with his calc 2 class. as for going to the math center: it's kind of BS bc he doesn't like the way they teach. OKKK
Cheifeitz is a real good teacher but he is hard.Howevery his tests are straight from the homework, so if you study you are set. A side note: he is full of arrogance and needs to be more friendly although his classes are far from boring. Overall he is a good teacher; he knows his stuff.
Good professor. He makes you realize math is about procedures (mechanics, he calls it). That way he tells you just to watch him do it and, if figure out how he does it, you're on your way to a high grade. He's good at giving tips and he gives good examples of usage. I recommend at the end of the semester that you ask about the Snowplow Problem.
He teaches clearly but is very demanding. He expects students to know algebra and calculus 1 inside and out. Well, he has a point because students should know those stuff at this level. He wants students to participate in class and ask questions. He could be intimidating. What's bugging me is that the class starts early (at 7:20 am).
I love the course material but this professor was intolerable. I gradually lost my interest in Mathematics that attending his class was a nightmare for me. I wish I had taken this class with another professor.
Cheifetz is awesome! He's very hard but very fair. He's mean if you aren't responsible but if you are he works with you to teach you as much as you can learn. He is my favorite professor.
He is a great teacher. As other people said, you have to try. If you only show up, but don't do the homework you will not pass. You can go to his office and he is very helpful. He gives homework every class. We had 2 exams and a cumulative final.
He tries his level best to get across what Calc2 is all about! But he is a tough professor when it comes to grading! no way of getting extra credits and the tests have indirect questions that needs alot of time to ponder on! there is no way u can get an A with him

His attitude is horrible, he obviously thinks nassau kids are all idiots and they're not worth anything. Makes class very uncomfortable. If you have him SWITCH right now. The only thing worse than him is terrible textbook he wrote.
Great professor! teaches math the way it should be taught. Took his Calc II course and he made everything clear and taught us shortcuts for easier ways to do problems. Alot of hw but totally worth it.
On the first day he met with each student in the hall to discuss their transcript (he had them all printed). When he showed me mine he said, "I see you're very lazy," because I had a slew of W's. I guess it didn't cross his one-track mind that those could be the result of a recurring illness. Really lovely to have someone you just met judge you.

Hardest part of the course is rembering all the stuff from previous math classes. He is very clear and helpful. Home work takes a long time.
Teaches very well. Make sure you do the HW otherwise you're in trouble. The hardest part isn't the calculus, it's using everything from every other math class you've ever had. You need to know the basics (algebra, trig, etc.) and put some effort into the class.
After being away from NCC and graduating with my bahelor's degree, I look back and feel that this class changed my idea about college. I learned to be responsible, how to study, and to do HW. I was so prepared when I transfered. Cheifetz was the best! BTW, I only got a C. It seems to me the people who trashed him just didn't do the work.
Definitely agree Prof. Cheifetz was great. Somehow he makes Calc 2 manageable, applicable to your life, and makes you laugh a bit too. He's tough but just do the hw and ask questions if you're confused. If you don't want to put in the work, don't take him. But then again, if you don't want to put in the work, why are you taking Calc 2?
I had Dr. Cheifetz as a professor many years ago. I dropped his class before the first test. Since then I graduated from a 4 year school with a B.S. (where I received an A in Calc 1 and 2), and graduated from medical school. All I remember is that he was very condescending, and made the course unnecessarily difficult.
The Professor is very rude to students and take time from the class to yell at late students. Even though I have never been late, it is defficult to concentrate when he stops class to stare someone down...He is lso not very willing to go over things you have a problem with if he thinks you should already know it...that is suppose to be your job!
He was awful..he would punish the WHOLE class for one student's misbehavior..
Dr. Cheifetz is an extremely fair professor. To pass Calc 2, you gotta do you hw. Take my words serious, do the hw, understand it,and pass the class. His tests are based on the hw he gives. He is extremely helpful, and really knows the math. I had a really good experience with him, got an A. Highly preferred. If you want to learn maths, take him.
He's what a college professor should be like, he wants to teach you and not spoon feed you everything like some college professors and high school teachers do. He will answer any questions you have and he's very clear with his explanations. It's all business in his classroom, you will never go off topic. Make sure you copy all notes and tricks.
Exams are very difficult. he claims there exactly from textbook but only about 35% of the problems are. i do all the hw and yet the exams look nothing like it. His class is very hard to do well you have to put in a lot of hours of work. Dont take his class majority of his students end up retaking it.
The class didn't have a professor assigned to it before the semester began. Therefore I did not know what I was in for. He belittles his students and singles classmates out. Although he is brilliant, he comes off intimidating and I had a difficult time approaching him with any ?'s. 13 students dropped from my class. That should tell you something.
Calc 2 is a very tough subject. This professor does not provide enough material for the class the class to do well (like quizes prior to tests). Do not take this guy. Take Professor Mantell instead (he is still very tough, but he provides much material & opportunities to do well) instead of this so-called "SUNY" distinguished professor

He does not cut ANY slack. Often seems unapproachable with questions because of a cynical attitude and demeanor. His tests are NOT easy, MANDATORY that you study! He does not make them any easier, even when the entire class does not understand and is having difficulty. Also has no sense of courtesy or personal space. Bottom line,GET OUT if possible
He's a good professor. His exams were designed to see who actually does the HW, so do as much HW as possible, ask him for help, use the math center and you'll be fine

Not a nice guy. He is obviously very smart and knows what he is talking about, but prides himself on his 50% drop rate and makes you feel dumb for not understanding something which leads to you not wanting to ask questions or take a risk to answer a question in front of the class. Did well, but wouldn't take him again.

He's HORRIBLE!!! I was pretty good at math prior to taking his class…he doesn't explain thoroughly. He thinks everyone should understand as quickly as he explains. TESTS ARE SUPER HARD and he doesn't attempt to make the class or his test easier. Started out with 25 students, on the day of the final there was 10 students left. No one passed!!!
A truly great teacher. His methodology revolves around scaring everyone who is not serious about learning out of the classroom by the withdraw period. For those of you that stay, prepare for a thorough rigorous study of material. YOU MUST ASK QUESTIONS.
He is a hard teacher, but if you can keep up with the HW, and what chapter, you should be fine... till the test, which everyone in my class has been failing, and I mean failing, like below 50. He will have no problem failing you, so work hard or get ready to re-take the class.
Cheifetz is the best professor in the department hands down. His method is based on him seeing who is a motivated college student. The strict grading system in my opinion is to separate the lazy students who don't do their HW, from the students who have a strong passion for what they do. I can safely say that this guy has changed my life! ~EE Major

Horrible. If Prof Skrunick has a class ur time take him instead.. You will pass with him but NOT with Dr. Cheifetz. He's rude, mean, very confusing. I didn't take ANY chances, i left the class after the first day. I found out from a friend who had him that his exams are SUPER hard. Sucks cause this class is actually easy if u explain it right

He only wants to teach students who get it the first time. Fortunately his test are directly from the homework and the math center is a big help. In the end If you can avoid his class.

i did not like this professor at all. if you come late, he would flip on you. your grade is base on all four tests. does not grade homework. cynical attitude. claims we are all below average. no help at all. unless you are really serious about your grades and having a professor making fun of you then take his class. if not, then RUN!!!!!!
He teaches the class the same way he would at Harvard. You are getting a top notch education taking his class. If you plan on going on to 4 year school or grad school this is the professor for you. If you don't do the HW there is zero chance of you passing.
Test are extremely hard, and doesn't explain the same type of question twice. Expects you to do all of the work on your own, which i can understand, but never offers to help. 4 tests and a final are your average and they are hard
He is a decent enough teacher and explains the topic well like once. If you come in even two minutes late he will freak out on you and not let you in, ask a question and he will probably freak out on you, give the wrong answer? probably freak out on you. There is only four tests and they are really really hard.
I registered for summer with this prof. Because he seemed better than the other two options on rate my prof. schedule. I lasted 3 minutes in the class. Cancelled class the last week before the final because enough students didn't show up. Wouldn't tell us what was on the final. Doubled the number of question on the final without giving us more time. 40% of the final was based on a topic we covered in an 1.5 hrs the week before while the 50% of what was discussed in class was only 10 points.
The first day he scared me bc he sounded strict , but he really wants you to learn the hard way (doing homework) and not bs like an easy class. Attendance & participation don't count, he averages 4 exams. If you try you will learn and pass but he's tests are hard, I barely passed but honestly don't listen to all these posts they over exaggerate.

Other professors told me he likes to brag about how many people dropfail his class. He takes pride in making you fail. Runs out at the end of class bc he doesn't want to answer questions, will not help you.

I took him this past summer, he is a really smart man, expects you to be too, and actually wrote the text book used for the course. He assigns a lot of homework, moves at his pace rather than the classes, which is too fast, and definitely the hardest class I've taken for my degree. I applied myself for this course, worked very hard, and I got D.
I had the opportunity to tutor with Professor Cheifetz. I was on the verge of failing calc2 and in just one week and enough tutoring and hardwork I was able to pass the class. He knows what he is doing and is the best math teacher I have ever worked with. Keep in mind, this is one of the hardest math courses offered, so you must put in the work.
Professor Cheifetz is more suited to teach at Harvard. Having a 4.0 & a 97 in precalc, I never thought Id end up dropping Calculus. He definitely knows the material and is a very smart man, but he underestimates how difficult the class is and teaches too fast. He is a good guy, but most people go to ncc for a more kid friendly learning style.
Calc 2 was the hardest class I have ever taken in college hands down. He demands a lot from his students but that is the nature of the course. Do the homework and study hard and you will pass. Answers any and all questions you will have and doesn't mind repeating himself if you don't understand a concept. Overall great teacher and a really good guy
I think 5 out of the 20 students in my class passed the course. He's a very smart guy and he expects you to be the same. I consider myself to be a very good math student but i just scraped by with a C in his class. Probably the hardest/most demanding course/professor ive ever had but now i can do calc2 in my sleep.
