I thought he was a good teacher. He does not give a lot of homework, at all. Text book is optional, he assigns practice problems, but not for a grade. You mostly use MathXL and Minitab as homework assignments, but like I said there aren't many. Excellent note packets. Downside: His tests are really long.

Phil is such a good teacher. he is not only extremely knowledgeable but he makes the class fun as well. He truly wants to see everyone who takes his classes, succeed. Math is not my favorite subject in the world but he made it easy to understand. He's also just funny. great sense of humor so if anything, take math with him for this reason.

This guy definitely knows his stuff and loves teaching it, and it really shows. Just focus every class and make sure you study occasionally and prep hard for the tests and you'll be fine.

Mr. Pickering is very friendly and a great teacher. His teaching style is very easy to learn from and his notes are very clear and organized. The tests aren't too bad, but you will need to study in order to get a good grade. You can have up to 4 absences but I would recommend not missing, because it's difficult to catch up.

If you do the assignments and ask questions when you are stuck you will be fine, he is very available to help you learn. I would take this class again in a heart beat.

The homework he gives is all online and is extremely helpful when trying to understand the material. He uses MyMathLab so there are help buttons along the way if you need those too. If you just pay attention and do the work you shouldn't have a problem. Have questions? Just ask, he's more than happy to explain something.

Loved Pickering, wish all the math teachers I've ever had were as clear as he is. Tests are long but they follow directly from the study guides. Go to every class, laugh at his jokes, do the homework, and he will bend over backwards to help you pass.

Mr. Pickering is a wonderful teacher. He delivers information clearly and concisely. He will explain concepts and problems to you in as many repetitions and formats as you need. He informs you of what he expects you to know for homework and tests, and sticks with it. I'm a student that isn't stellar in math, but the class was fair to follow.

Took this course online and professor Pickering was extremely helpful, even in helping with logging into Mastering. The set-up was easy to understand and allowed for practice until mastery. He explains the concepts well and requires discussion, but it's a wonderful class. Even as terrible at math as I am I did really well and felt like I understood

I had Pickering for MAT137 and I think hes a great professor. He is tough, but will do everything he can to make sure you understand the material. I choose to take his STATS class next semester and am looking forward to it.

I had Professor Pickering for MAT 137. The class is tough but he takes the time to explain everything in detail and wants every student to succeed. He is more than willing to help you if you are struggling so don't be afraid to ask for help. If you put in the time and effort and study the material you should have no problem passing this class.

Mr. Pickering was a very great teacher. Most of the class days you take notes, but sometimes he will have you do a group problem. The homework was mostly on mymathlab but there was a few minitab assignments, but he gave you specific directions how to complete it. I highly recommend him.

Mr. Pickering was an excellent professor and I am not a big fan of math courses but he made his lectures so clear and functional which got students interested about the subject! If I had to take any other math class I would definitely try to take with him! Great job

Took statistics but can't remember the course number. He teaches this subject very well. My only problem with him was when he would raise his voice very loud to make a point and had very little patience for noise outside the classroom. Besides this, he made stats very easy for me and explained things thoroughly.

He is so funny! He also is very interested in getting to know his students and has an amazing memory! He loves talking about his family and gives a fair amount of work. Id say best math teacher I ever had!

Professor Pickering took the fear out of statistics. His lectures clearly outline each subject area in a step by step, relatable way. Attending class, I believe, is essential for a high grade in this class. Extra credit is offered often. I would highly recommend this professor.

Though I have a hard time with statistics, this professor made it less of a pain. Good attitude, very friendly, knows all his students by name, and I don't almost fall asleep during his lectures.

Mr. Pickering is one of the best professors Ive ever had. He is a super nice guy with a great sense of humor, and he goes out of his way to help you if you are struggling or not understanding the material. He even drops your lowest grades for almost everything such as tests, minitabs, and homework. I highly recommend taking his class.

Professor Pickering has been one of the best professors I have had a GCC. I am still currently enrolled in his class but it is clear that his main goal is for us to learn. He is very knowledgeable but also knows exactly how to teach the course. He is always willing to make time and answer questions without making you feel stupid. Great prof.

In general math has been a hard subject for me, but having Mr. Pickering as my professor for Stats really helped me achieve my goal in getting an A. He is always ready to help if you need it and provides lots of opportunities for extra credit if you want it. I would defiantly recommend taking his class if you need the credits!

Works with you! If you were struggling to get an assignment in he would help the best he could to get it in for a grade even after the "due date." Went on vacation for a week and he offered time after class to teach lessons missed while gone and gave extra time for assignments missed!

Mr Pickering is big on Marvel and DisneyWorld so he'll throw in fun references I was in a hybrid class it's spring 2020 so after spring break it was all online. He still did the videos so it was very easy to follow along. I'm not a strong math student and dreaded this class but I did really well and so did everyone else, no one failed You can do it

Professor Pickering was such a joy to have as my statistics teacher. As many of you know, statistics isnt a very easy class... but Mr. Pickering always made sure that if we were having trouble, or needed help, that we got the help we needed. I 100% recommend him to anyone who needs to take a statistics class.

I had a harder time passing this course in a classroom setting this teacher made expectations clear and to the point which made the course less stressful he also helped when you asked questions besides sending you to the tutoring center.

Due to Covid shutting down the schools the professor posted his class lectures online for even students like me who took the class online. I think if I were take this course again I would take it on campus. His lectures posted online were thorough and easy to follow.

I took this class in an online format because of the pandemic. Professor Pickering made sure that his expectations were made clear from the beginning. Homework is submitted on the pearson website, I bought the access code which includes the etext instead of the bundle. Your grade reflects the amount of work you put into the class.

Due to the shutdown for the pandemic he posted his lectures online for my class to attend live for another session of the course or to watch later. You will use blackboard(handouts/exam packets), MyStatsLab, and Minitab. I bought the access code with the etext included instead of the bundle.

Excellent professor, very helpful, a lot of info in many tabs for online class, very clear with his assignments and expectations and is a fair grader with additional extra credit. Class isn't too tough if you pay attn and practice. I spent 25 hours/week plus exams which took me 6-12 hours each! No video lectures this semester, mostly from text.

I took MAT192 online. I knew it would be difficult but Prof. Pickering made it as easy as he could by offering lots of notes and multiple attempts at homework and exams.

His syllabus was detailed and clearly outlined expectations of the class, grading criteria, etc. He was consistent with deadlines and was always available to help us understand the material by Zoom, email, or in-person. He was also a fun and somewhat laid-back professor, I loved seeing the various Marvel shirts he would wear in classes.

Professor Pickering exceeded any and all expectations as an instructor. He always has a funny joke to change up the lecture environment and keep things interesting and students engaged. Overall one of the best teachers I've ever had!

What I liked about Professor Pickering stats class was his understanding that the students in his class were not math majors. He makes the class enjoyable with jokes and his positive attitude. Ultimately if you pay attention in class and do the work on time, there is zero chance of you not obtaining at least a A-.

Statistics is always described as a difficult course, but this Professor made it as easy as possible, even with the course being online. He seems funny and friendly. Course work wasn't difficult and if you did it all, you would be prepared for the tests. I've never used Minitab before, but his instructions were straightforward and simplified it.

I have been nervous about Stats since I decided to come back to school in my 30s but Pickering made it so understandable it was almost easy. He creates packets for each chapter so the book is really not necessary. Attend class and you'll be fine. Was hoping to have him again for business calc but alas, it's a different for spring. Mr. Pickering is a wonderful professor. Very caring. Explains things well. It is very important to attend class: if you don't, you WILL FAIL. Class time is also when he explains things about navigating the material, so the online platform is not easy to navigate if you don't attend class. Overall he is a great guy and excellent professor.

Great course. Homework and exams are all online and you get 2 attempts for exams, you have multiple days to complete them. Clear and concise with concepts/explanations and wants students to succeed. Accessible outside of class time, encourages students to email with questions and attend office hours if needed. Notes are typed handouts.
