ONLINE. GREAT class GREAT professor. Learn Cybersecurity, Kali Linux, Windows Servers, hacking, White Hat of course ;) Real world scenarios, especially in discussions, not just some boring textbook theories. LOTS of practical labs, live VMs. NCL CTF, Capture Flag 25 percent grade this semester, own pace, Novice is FINE for CTF. PLENTY EXTRA credit

The book is your best friend for this class. Make sure you complete all the readings if not you'll be lost. Everything is organized well so you know in advance what is going to be expected of you.

Really straightforward with the grading criteria. Excellent at getting back to you with any of your concerns.

Had a good time in the security+ class. Enjoyed learning about various security topics and the NCL competition torwards the end of the semester was fun.

The teacher was mostly responsive, but there were times that it felt like he could not be reached. Also, many dates were not updated on the online class from the previous semester, so it made things a little more confusing. It's October, how could something be due in April?

Professor Bell has been one of my favorite teachers and I would definitely take another one of his courses. He is available to answer any and all questions. His course material is layed out with easy to follow instructions.

The teacher assigns good discussion topics and hands-on exercises. He uses Cengage, other than the price it wasn't that bad. He got vouchers for the students to participate in NCL games. Vouchers helped a lot and NCL was a great experience.

Professor Bell gets a lot of praise from me - despite the nearly obscene amount of homework - because you can tell he cares about his students passing. He gives you access to a TON of resources to use. Most importantly, however, is the fact that you will never go more than 24 hours without a response from him. He. Replies. So. Fast. It's. Amazing!!

Competing in the NCL is the best part of this class. I wish that some of the modules in the NCL are covered more in class.

Great professor, tons of work due every week but it's definitely understandable given the course. Would take this professor again!

Great class. A lot of hands-on work with the lab assignments (Cengage) and the NCL Games (free voucher to participate). One discussion board, one or two lab assignments, and one quiz per week. Labs and quizzes with indefinite attempts to get 100. Also, the NCL Games on specific dates, one Final Exam, and several opportunities to get extra credit.

This was an online class so there was not as much professor interaction as an in person class, however I had no issues with this professor and he had good discussion assignments and responsive to messages.

He's a good professor, but his netlab+ assignments were not able to work on my my MAC.

I liked the computer forensics course. Prof. Bell was helpful, and tried his best to post relevant discussion prompts & videos. But, would prefer a hybrid course with once a week online meetings. Cengage Mintap labs were not very engaging for me. The textbook has so much info & leans towards professionals who are already in the cybersec field.

I really enjoyed the way the course was set up. Mostly, it's independent work as it's online, but I liked the discussions we had, they were relevant to the section and were interesting.

My class was entirely online A ton of reading and assignments for the first half of the class but after that it relaxes a ton and gives you time to work on the NCL competition. There was about 10 discussions throughout the semester at least 2 labs a week. Easy class to pass with plenty of extra credit, its just a lot of assignments to get through.

Had this professor for previous classes. Solid individual. I wish there were more on campus options, so we could establish a rapport.

Great professor and great class. There is a decent amount of work each week but it's not difficult. Each week we had a discussion board, a quiz, and 1 or 2 assignments. Unlimited attempts for the quizzes and plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Professor Bell is helpful and understanding. I would recommend his classes.

I liked the professor and the course, I had attempted a sdcecurity+ course in the past and I didn't do too well, not sure if it was cuz of the professor or I have more experience now but it's worth noting.

Professor Bell is knowledgeable and passionate about cyber security and uses every tool he has to inspire that in his students. The course wasn't too hard by any means, and anyone doing the work could get a decent grade but it required active involvement. This is a technical field, study hard and put forth the effort and you'll reap the benefits.

Great professor who is easy to reach considering it is a 100% online course. The material is easy to follow and all the course work is provided via 3rd party such as Cengage.

I enjoyed the class, I would recommend taking this for the security+.

Amazing teacher. I'd like to say it was an easy A, but it was definitely earned. That's not to say that it's difficult or not worth it--you learn a lot and in many different ways. There's coursework for any type of learning style. The teacher is also amazingly flexible and communication is spectacular. Will definitely be taking more classes w/ him.

There are a lot of labs to complete but overall they will help prepare you for what you will really be doing. Make sure you reply to discussion post and contribute to the discussion on time. Overall was a good class.

Very interesting class. The workload is pretty average but the labs are interesting. Great topics for the weekly discussions too.

He is very understandable when it comes on completing assignments if are not done on time.

This is my second class with this professor and I've enjoyed both of his classes. Don't get me wrong, you're going to be doing a lot of work, as he uses a lot of different forms of media to help you learn, but it caters to every learning style. Just make sure to do your work on time and communicate with him and you'll do great!

Professor Bell lays everything out very clearly on the syllabus - if you read through it and feel the class suits your needs you will have no issue getting through the work and passing the class. Professor Bell is easy to reach and will respond to you questions/issues in a timely manner. Throughout the course he also provides additional sources to learn from besides just the book.

Hey, this professor is awesome, it was great to learn so much in this class. If you are doing any cybersecurity class make sure to take him, he is fantastic.

Discussions are easy to understand. If there is an issue with any of programs like netlab, cengage, or ncl, it is easy to let him know to address it. Do not be scared to say something if something is not working.

The professor answers you quickly if you have a question, and very quickly fixes any problems you have with assignments or in the class. He is responsive and helpful. The material was always laid out clearly, so if you don't get the grade you want, its on you. There is a lot of reading, but the class is overall informative and fun.

Taking this class wasn't too difficult it was mainly keeping up with the assignment and there is a quiz for each week but most of the online information is provided or through Cengage it's an easy class as long as you keep up with the workload.

This is a completely online course. You just need to keep up with the coursework given each week and you should do fine. He gives plenty of extra credit work as well, compared to other professors.

Prof. Bell is a good instructor, helpful, responsive, & has experience in cybersecurity. The course was totally online, and uses cengage, netlabs, discussions, and the NCL game as part of the grade. Very straight forward class. If you do the work you will get a good grade. Professor Bell allows for multiple takes on quizzes so it is very easy to get an A in the course. If you are planning on taking this course or the Security Plus certification, take him!

I think this class is good if your someone who enjoys working by yourself and you can pick up content well through reading. Professor Bell is very good at responding to emails you have about assignments and also gives multiple assignments per week so you can balance your grade with labs and tests. Overall would highly recommend.

The class was good. I liked that I got to learn new and useful information like how our everyday lives can have a benefit in working in the cybersecurity force and the Instructor would give us extra work that is optional to help us learn more about cybersecurity. I think some of the assignments and the NCL questions were a little broad.

This professor was very good at replying to emails and messages, which, for a fully online class is important. When we had an intro call at the beginning of the semester he was very nice and helpful.

I took Professor Bell's Security+ and Forensics class. Both were online classes and 12 weeks long. As long as you complete all your assignments and read the Cengage book online, you should be good! Also, complete all your National Cyberleague assignments. Professor Bell also offers extra credit which will help you also. Great class.

Professor Bell's class was clear and understandable. I took his online classes for CSIS 265 and 263. As long as you put in the time each week, you will do well in the classes. Nice variety of reading and virtual labs. He makes it clear that he is available for office hours if needed (did not need to use them personally).

I took the Computer Forensics online class and did not know what to expect. Most assignments are on the Cengage website and there are weekly discussions. We also got to compete in the National CyberLeague which was interesting. I liked the Netlab assignments. Professor Bell also does offer a lot of extra credit which was good.

Online Course so interaction was limited but I've attended a few of Professor Bells courses so I'm accustomed to his style. Thorough and fair.

Always has the material for the week laid out in a concise and easy to follow manner. All assignments are also laid out weeks prior, so you can go at your own pace and even get ahead.

Make sure you do the discussions and classwork at least 3 days before the due date. This class is very independent.

He is a really great professor. He answers questions very quickly and is super understandable. Really easy class as long as you do the work. You have to buy Cengage for all of his classes and learn from there so if you want to cut out the middleman just buy the course separately and learn on your own time.

It is an online class but the Professor has organized the resources very well. He responds to student's issues on time, and I even once commended him for responding better than the outsourced technical support that runs our practical tutorial online platform. It is a very interesting course to take especially for the IT inclined

This professor has a clear expectation of what is expected of you in this course, and what you will need to past this course. There is a lot of information to learn in this class because this certificate requires a lot of knowledge for security. The labs seem like there are a lot of them, but in reality they are not very long they are very helpful.

It's mostly self-taught material, being an online class, but he is available for questions. As a caveat, you should be prepared to mimic real-life, exhaust all your resources for difficult problems - group discussions, tutoring center, online research, etc, then come to him if no solution is found. A lot of computer careers will be this way.

Professor Bell is pretty fair. No late work is accepted but if it was just a bit after the time it was due he'll accept it. The course is self explanatory for the most part but professor bell is always available for help. Great class I'd take it again and I'd continue to take Professor Bell's classes.

This Professor was great! I enjoyed the class and I liked that it was very hands on. He makes everything clear in his syllabus and sticks to everything. He gives feedback and I enjoy that he sends out announcements regularly and has everything graded by Monday so you don't have to stress a few days after the Sunday submission. I would recommend him

This course was an on-line class for Security+, for new beginners this is a great starting point into this field, also gave the opportunity experience individual that been in this field to refresh on Security. Prof Bell provided all the right material to learn and go over new and old-style hacker tools that was in a close environment.

My main criticism is for the program that was used to teach students database management. ZYbook is essentially an interactive textbook which does not support text-to-speech despite what is says. ZYLabs are problems with little guidance towards a solution. I did not feel like I learned as much as I could have from this course.

Professor Bell's CSIS213 class was really manageable. The assignments were straightforward, and the textbook was helpful. I also found tools like Unstuckstudy and ChatGPT useful for prepping. Overall, a solid Linux course.

Professor Bell is knowledgeable and does a phenomenal job of making sure students know he is there to support them in their educational journey both for their time in the course and beyond.

This is an online class which uses ZyBooks for learning, participation, and labs. Some of the labs require some coding but even if you are not experienced, you can find information to learn more on various websites related to the material. Just start early in the week so you have enough time.

CSIS-263, with professor Philip, I was never worried about my grades because his grading is very fair, he noticed my work, my knowledge and my participation thus I was able to focus on the class teaching material. His class environment makes it feel everything is easy, I just did my work and kept up with the dates Not enough thanks to Mr. Philip

This class has a lot of assignments. There is a lot of reading, quizzes, labs, discussions, and an interactive textbook full of activities. Overall, it is a lot of work, however the expectations are laid out clearly and the abundance of assignments makes it easier to get a better grade.

This semester Professor Bell told us our school was changing course material this semester and tell him if there was any issues. There was tons of issues but Professor Bell fixed most of the issues or addressed them in class when brought to his attention.

Class was fairly easy in my opinion had to switch over to a different online textbook through out the year but other than that professor bell made sure to communicate that with everyone and his communication is just good in general

This class is relatively easy as long as you keep up with the work. All of the assignments are clear and the discussions are pretty interesting. Professor Bell is willing to work for students and is here for us. Lot's of homework and course work but, if you complete all assignments and study you're for sure leaving with Sec+ cert after the test and very very good knowledge of cybersecurity as a beginning student.

The assignments are organized pretty well overall. Most of the learning is done through Zybooks, which is where you'll spend most of your time. The only downside is that the NCL assignments aren't listed in the module assignments, so you'll need to check the NCL platform separately to see when they're available and when they're due.

Each week there was a discussion board, readings and labs through zyBooks, and a module quiz. As for the bigger assignments, there is one group project, and participating in NCL is required. Clear grader, organized class structure, responds quickly to emails. Would take him again for another online certification preparation course.

I will be taking him once again next semester. The discussions are current and thought-provoking. The work is not overloading. Contact is not always the best, but when you do have contact, it's good. Lots of extra credit, and he's very understanding. I just wish we had more interaction with him, his hybrid classes are really good.

He used a new course on Ucertify, the labs are pretty good. Weekly discussions, can effectively communicate with him through email. However, he was mostly MIA at the start of the semester, and it took a while for our course problems(grading and assignment issues) to get fixed.

The class was educational and very interesting. The professor had interesting assignments that are tied to the real world so its easy for you to engage. The professor was understanding and easy to get in contact with. i definitely recommend taking this professor.

Professor Bell was a great teacher in the last few classes I've had with him! Anytime you needed something or wanted extra help, you had options at any time and he would make time for you.

This is a very heavy course with discussions + reading + lab + quizzes every week. Other than that the course is straightforward and the professor makes expectations very clear. Just do the work and you will get a good grade. I would take this class if you have a lighter class load than usual because this class takes a lot of time.Zybooks is cool.

Professor Bell is a really good instructor. He takes the time to answer any questions students have, and his office hours make him very accessible. The course was interesting, well-planned, and organized from start to finish. I had a great time in his class and would definitely take another course with him in the future.

I recommend all students in CSIS to take this course to get new knowledge and learn new materials. The professor is very nice and kind, and helpful, and answers all questions.

This professor is well traversed and knowledgeable in all things Cybersecurity related! Not only that he has a sense of humor and is very lenient when it comes to submitting assignments regardless of a due date because he has an understanding that even though we're college students that life happens outside of school that is beyond our control.

Very much enjoyed his class, allows plenty of time to complete assignments.

He is very easy going and wants you to pass. Very informative, However it's up to you to ask. Also very understanding when it comes to makeup work.
