He is literally the nicest guy on the planet. He will email you back quickly no matter the time of day. His class was challenging but he was willing to help out. He is the best professor I've had to this point in my carrer
The best professor I have ever had. Easy to pay attention to his lectures. Very fun to listen to and gives incredible real life insight. Would take his class 101 times out of 100. Homework is very straightforward and he sticks to a strict course schedule; very easy to do all of his work on time. Best professor ever.
He is one of the best, if not the best professor I've had in years! His lectures are clear and fun to listen to. You do need a text book or e-book because gives concept questions as homework for every chapter the course covers . He also assigns problems that will have you apply and practice the concepts you've learned.
Best Professor Ever
Took him for Management Accounting . Great professor really cares about his students. He brings in real world issues to help students better understand the lectures I only took the class because I needed it to graduate but he made it fun and easy.
Take Gelsomino for sure! Best accounting professor at Saunders
This professor is awesome, truly cares about his students. Everything is completely written out on the syllabus and if there are any miscommunications he is completely understanding.
Awesome professor. Relates real world tax returns for you to prepare and makes you work hard for your grade but you will definitely learn. Would take any course he taught. Helpful, makes time for you and he really cares about your success.
Prof. Gelsomino is the best professor I've ever had. He inspired me to go into Accounting. He's very energetic and cares about his class. The class is very straightforward. Do the readings, go to class, do homework on time. If you need help with hw ask early and he'll make time to help you out. I absolutely loved this class.
I usually only rate really bad professors, but i had to make an exception for Professor Gelsomino. He replies to emails no matter what time it is. His power points are so clear you hardly ever have to read the textbook, although i recommend you do read it. He actually cares about each student. I was clueless and he found ways to help me learn.
Hands down the best Professor I've ever had. He is clear and straightforward with expectations on the syllabus and his lectures are both hilarious and relative to real world concepts in tax and accounting. His ability to engage the class and make it a fun learning environment is by far the best I've seen! Saunders College is lucky to have him there
Professor Gelsomino is hands down the best professor I've ever had. He's very energetic and cares about his class which there is never a dull moment. Gives out a LOT of homework, but in the long run it was very helpful in the final weeks of class. Makes you work hard for your grade but you will definitely learn the material.
Professor Gelsomino is definitely the best professor I have ever had. He is a great guy who knows how to make Accounting fun and is always engaging. He cares about the well-being of every one of his students as well which is awesome. Will spend time after class just to chat or if you need help on anything
This professor has multiple awards in teaching. Take his class if you want to understand the power of education. He mixes humor with teaching. His class is about you. You will get easy A but he will make you learn. He gets pizza for his students and spends time with student although he could afford a jet and make it into his ping pong room. Caring!
Nice guy, trys hard, loves the game.
This class can be tough at times. However, Professor Gelsomino really puts forth effort to make sure you understand the course material. There is quite a bit of work required for this course, but it isn't bad if you understand the material or go see Gelsomino during his office hours. He teaches from experience and is overall a great professor.
Professor Gelsomino is a nice guy. I had him for Financial Accounting, which was overall a good class. I liked how there was only 2 tests, which in total counted for 35% of your grade. The majority of your grade was the projects, which if you go to his office hours, he will help you on. He takes attendance, so show up. Also, ask questions.
Very organized and also very encouraging with his emails that he sent out. It was always clear what was expected from him. A GREAT prof to have as a first-semester freshman because it felt like he actually cared about how students were doing both in and out of class. A GREAT professor and guy! Can't wait to have him again next semester!
Accounting in general is pretty hard and Gelsomino tries his best to prepare you for it. Be ready for weekly homework and projects. Go to class because you will miss a lot if you dont. Def pick Gels. You wont have another teacher like him. He is very engaged with his students and is always there to help. Always has inspirational stories to share
So as the end of the semester approaches there is no doubt I have worked hard in this course but Gels knows what he's doing and he wants you to learn so he's more than fair and helpful to make sure you learn. You will work for it but it's worth it. Best professor I've had.
You don't really use the textbook much, but the textbook is really helpful. His office hours available are great. If you need help go to his office hour. He does not like anything complicated, so just don't make him made. His test are easy as long as you pay attend in class and know how to do your homework.
Wow. I never thought Id take the time to fill one of these out but I had to. Gels is one of a kind. Had him last semester and have him again this semester. I would not know where to start. He cares about you not only to do well in class but he cares about you as a person. Hes smart and class is amazing. Definite take him if you can.
Definitely a very solid professor.
Don't get me wrong, he's funny and caring. But, he's a tough teacher. Do the work, go to class and listen to what he says. You won't pass if you don't go to class or you don't do the project the exact way he tells you. This guy is super funny though, he'll crack jokes and make fun of students (with their consent). Overall, he's tough but a good guy
Took in the spring 2020 during COVID. Hardest course I have ever had at RIT in 4 years and the workload was tough but reasonable. Gels is not only a phenomenal guy but brings all real world actual client projects to class. You have to read but you learn a ton especially with Gelsomino. I wish he taught Intermediate I.
First semester and never worked so hard. Its not high school and Gelsomino set me up for success but I worked my butt off for it. Tons of work but he was always willing to help. No nonsense kind of guy that makes you realize reality is real.
Projects make a huge difference in your grade and you have to do them. If you ask questions and go to office hours you can get the answers and learn it instead of guessing. Gels has more energy than everyone in class together. He cares. Never thought I would say I liked accounting but I do and it's because the professor makes it fun.
Hands-down the greatest professor of all time. The class was challenging, but Gelsomino's enthusiasm and energy made 75-minute lectures go by fast. Just don't fall behind with the work and do the best you can. Working with classmates and tutors on assignments definitely helped me survive the semester.
Professor Gelsomino brings out the best in his students, he is hilarious. His real stories as a lifelong accountant make the first semester course bearable. I found that reading the textbook chapters is a must, and his workload was the highest out of my courses 1st semester. If you attend his office hours, he is brutally honest but will help a lot.
You have to work hard to do well. Do the readings before class. Go to his office hours for help and communicate with your classmates, it makes a difference. He makes the class really enjoyable, he's super enthusiastic and interesting. He explains things really well and is very knowledgeable.
Gelsomino expects a lot from you and if you follow rule #1 he will go out of his way to help you. No nonsense Professor. Hes always available to help but you have to do the work and dont skip a class. By far the best Professor Ive had in 3 years at RIT.
First semester was a shock but Gelsomino will walk you through it all as long as you work for it. Can't BS him; he will call you out and it's not worth wasting your time. I went to office hours starting in week #4 (too late). Once I started to put in the effort everything turned around and actually became fun. I have him again next semester :)
Professor Gelsomino was definitely a shock at first. As my first college class ever, I was definitely intimidated by both him and the accounting as a whole, but Gelsomino is a superb professor. I definitely struggled because I did not participate as much as I should have, but reading ahead and making sure your work is in on time goes a long way!
yes, one of a kind. Had him last semester and have him again this semester. I would not know where to start. He cares about you not only to do well in class but he cares about you as a person. Hes smart and class is amazing. Definite take him if you could.
If you are thinking about taking this course you should take it with Gelsomino. I have had him for 2 courses but already signed up for the tax course this fall. He expects you to put in effort and if you do he will help you. Office hours & participation are a must. He is by far the best professor I have had so far in my first year.
easy A, ask questions and go to office hours you can get the answers and learn it instead of guessing. Gels has more energy than everyone in class together. He cares. Never thought I would say I liked accounting, good lectures
Gels is very easy to connect with, his course is difficult at times, but if you read the textbook, listen to what he says, and attend his office hours it is easy to pass. Sit in the front of his class and make sure he knows who you are, he has a tough love approach, but it is for the best. He tells relatable stories and is hilarious to listen to.
easiest A of my life, A Count Inn, lol
Professor Gels is a great person and his lectures are always enjoyable and helpful. He really tries to make sure everyone understands the material and is available for extra help often. His tests are fair and usually based off of the Homework and Quizzes.
Gels is amazing. I had him for two courses this year and have him again in the fall for a third. You have to take him - the best prof at RIT hands down. Always follow Rule #1 or he will will call you out - don't waste your time. He has actual real world experience and brings that to all the classes.
Required course & dreaded it, but now I'm doing a tax internship next year. Gels is phenomenal & makes you work on actual tax return prep figuring out how to incorporate the textbook with his lecturers & of course IRS instructions. It's a ridiculous amount of work but he helps you if you put in the effort. Go to office hours.
Great guy, network and get close with him. His classes are funny and loves to tell stories and is a great professor. Tends to talk loudly in class and stuff to keep you awake so dont worry about falling asleep in his class, you wont fall asleep... Materials and schedules are very organized based off the syllabus. In person exams may be challenging.
This is the first rating I have done but I felt I had to. Gelsomino rocks so take him if you can. Students who don't even have him in class go to his office hours just for fun and to help first year students. It's crazy how popular he is & Saunders is lucky to have him. Wish he taught more courses. Don't ever pass up lunch or dinner with him.
Gels is amazing. I almost dropped the course on the first day - he scared me - but students who had him for ACCT-110 said not to so I didn't. Boy am I glad I didn't. He's the most helpful prof I've ever had, including high school. He's wicked smart too! You will learn in his class, there's no way not to, and forget about sleeping, not an option.
All time favorite teacher/professor. Coolest guy I know!
What a shock for my first business course and first semester but by far the best professor I have. I have him again in spring. Definitely waited too long to start going to office hours. Tells actual business stories to relate to the course material. Will help you do anything if you make the effort. Take him if you can.
I dreaded taking tax and almost dropped it the first week but Gelsomino told us if we worked hard it would work out and he was right. This is the best course I have taken at RIT and Gels is the best prof I have had in 3 years. Get ready to read a lot. Go to office hours. I would text him at weird hours and he'd answer and help. Try to take him.
Gelsomino is a great guy and accounting makes sense how he taught it. He's by the book on the syllabus and everything is laid out so there are NO surprises. He's intimidating as heck and tough love is an understatement but it's because he cares. He asked every day how I was and meant it. He's wicked smart and do what you can to take him.
I love Gels with all my heart. He was my favorite teacher this semester and I look forward to having him again. Saunders students adore him. Just be a good student and he will return the favor.
I can't say I love accounting, but I sure do appreciate how important it is now. Gels made the course the most amazing one by far this semester and I am excited to have hm again next semester. Take him if you can, you'll learn and love his lectures and how he cares about your success.
I wasn't looking forward to tax, a required course, and only Gelsomino teaches it. He has a reputation of being intimidating but once you realize he only wants you to understand the material he's amazing. He works with audit and tax clients, knows what he's doing, and has an unbelievable way of getting you to learn. I've had him 3 times-take him
As usual Gels was the first to submit my final grade and I wish I had worked harder sooner. I waited too long to get help and was failing the course with the first exam. Gelsomino said if I put in the work it would pan out and it did. He helps you whenever you ask and cares you do well. He's a ROCKSTAR and Saunders is lucky to have him.
Gels made it easy to do well but I didn't put in the effort. He uses real business situations to reinforce the points in the textbook which makes it easy to learn. He went overboard on trying to help me get the A but I messed up. Best professor I had in my first year by far. I have him again in fall for tax. Take him if you can. He cares.
3rd course with him. I would take all my courses with Gelsomino if I could. I graduate next year and man I will miss him. He treats everyone well and screams and yells a lot. You'll never fall asleep that's for sure. He's wicked smart and relates to what we go through as students. He makes sure everyone learns. Best prof ever!
This guy is the Goat. Must take.
Super funny dude. If he wrote a book, I'd read it
Great professor, its a hard class but it was EXTREAMLY useful.
Professor Gelsomino made this class a great experience although it was a very challenging course. His classes were very entertaining and he does his best to make sure that everyone feels included and that students have a good understanding of the topic. There is a lot of work involved in this class but the work is worthwhile.
Gels was a total shock and he always said he'd rather we catch on sooner rather than later. I caught on later but he was a huge help and it was all real world material. Looking forward to taking him next semester and I'm planning on the A.
Wow. A ton of work is an understatement. Get ready to read instructions for hours. Gels lecturers and actual client taxes are #1. He is the goat. Had him for the first time and would take any course with him again. Bottom line is that he cares.
An amazing professor, very dramatic but you need that for an early morning class. Weekly(ish) quizzes, lots of assignments, willing to help if you aren't sure about something. Make sure to meet him early on if you can! If you do the work and study well you will succeed. If you put in the effort, you will get a good grade, don't expect an easy A.
Great Professor to add to your professional network. Overall super cool and interesting guy.
Had Gels last semester and this course was totally different like he said it would be. Went to office hours and that made a HUGE difference. Should have listened to him last semester LOL. He cares, which was unusual and compared to my other professors. Take him for any course you can.
Not even in the business school but took tax and was surprised how much I liked it and learned. Gelsomino is like no other teacher I have had in 4 years at RIT. Wish I had him for all my courses. He knew I wasn't a business student & made sure I was introduced to everyone in class & made new friends. Learning tax is horrible but I'd do it again.
Work load was heavy but somehow manageable. He gave actual audit client examples which reinforced the textbook material and explained audit techniques. By far the best instructor at RIT. I had him for 3 other courses and never thought I'd have him again. Glad my last accounting course was with Gelsomino. He cares.
He's great. I had him for both ACCT110 and 210, I wish I had more classes with him. He explains the content well, and while it is difficult, he makes it make sense while being hilarious at the same time. Use his office hours, and ask questions. His exams can be a bit tough, but it becomes so much easier when you put in the time to study and read.
Goated professor.
He's extremely knowledgeable about accounting and tax so trust everything he says. He can be a bit tough but you can tell he really cares about the success of his students, especially when they put in the effort. Go to his office hours whenever you can, they make all the difference.
If you haven't taken Gel's class you are absolutely missing out. He is a caring professor that wants you to succeed in life. Always be honest with him, go to office hours, ask lots of questions. He isn't an easy grader but he will give you all the tools you need to pass.
Gelsomino is a great teacher to have for as hard of an introductory subject as ACCT-110 is. He tries his best to make ACCT as interesting as possible by being as dramatic as possible and he loves to tell it straight to you whether your doing enough or not. His class, by curriculum, is hard but he tries his best to walk you through the process.
Where to start. Gels is by far the gem of Saunders College. Audit was my last accounting class and having Gels was the best. He shows you how to prepare audit programs and why it is important. He connects the textbook to actual businesses and tells how his clients deal with audit and how a CPA deals with their clients. He is amazing. Take him.
Complete shock is putting it mild. Gels made the course manageable & interesting. 8am and a subject I knew nothing about, I actually am deciding to choose accounting for my major next year. Gelsomino is smart, nuts, and one of a kind. He actually wanted me to learn and hounded me every time I slacked off. Glad to have him next semester.
Gelsomino was the best prof I had this semester. Straight forward, no nonsense, more than fair. Tried to get me to care and I waited too long but caught on. Can't wait for next semester with Gels
This is the 4th course I had with Gelsomino and glad he taught audit because he actually does audit for a career and made it real. Reading the textbook wasn't really any fun but Gels connected the theory to how it is applied to an actual audit. He provided actual client documents that we had to apply audit steps to. I wish he taught more. GOAT
LOTS of work. Let me say that again. LOTS of work. Had Gels 3 times now and wish he was teaching audit again in spring. Big mistake on Saunders part. Anyway do what he tells you and you learn a lot. No memorizing, you learn from the master himself. Gels is the best prof at RIT by far and I switched to accounting becasue of him. Thx Gels
Got the grade I deserved. Gelsomino tried hard to get me to work, he cared. I slacked off this smester but I won't next semester. I have Gels again. He's amazing. Super lecturers keeps you engaged and checks in always. Take him!
Get ready to read! Tax instructions, tax forms, schedules, worksheets. Gels gives great guidance and amazing lecturers. Applies client tax docs to class and explains how it really works in business. Gels is GOAT so take him. I've had him 4 times. Wish all instructors were like him.
Great course and professor. Had Gelsomino 4 times as a student and he always shows how the course material relates to actual client business situations and companies. Take him if you can. He cares and you are far better off if you participate.
He is the reason I am switching out of Accounting as a major. He is rude and will make fun of you in front of the whole class, talking about things that you discussed privately and discussing other student's grades publicly. Attendance is mandatory and there are no excused absences (even if you were in the hospital). The class is not hard but he is
Gels is the best. I submitte dmy last assignment a week early just to be done with a course so I could focus on other work. He goes over actual real life examples with his clients on how they apply tax laws and save taxes. This course should be twice as long so more could be covered. Lots of reading of tax forms but you learn a lot. He cares too.
This was my second class with Gels and I'm taking a third in the fall. If you show up to class and do the work you'll learn a ton and get an A. I got off to a rough start but Gels wouldn't let me slide and pushed me to the A-. He really cares about you and you learning. Take him!
Not glazing but bro is really the best professor there is for this subject. Honestly if you are looking for an actually useful class that will teach you how to pay the bare minimum in taxes for the rest of your life, this is it. His lectures are engaging enough even with my 2 hrs of sleep debuff. Just beware that you actually do real taxes no test.
You will not regret taking Gels. Very inspiring guy and makes a very boring topic become something very enjoyable. Looking forward to taking more classes with gels.
Summer is here and I wanted to do this before I left campus. Had Gels twice in a row and he's the goat for real. Like the work or not you'll love him. Put in the effort and he'll get you to learn. I thought I'd breeze thru the course and lucky I didn't fail. He really cares. Take his classes.
Gels is the best by far. Had no choice in taking the courses - had him 2 semesters - but glad I did. He's prepared. He cared about me and pushed me to B+ when I had a C-. I would Take him for all my courses. Thanks gels
3rd class with Gels. Wish he was teaching audit this fall again since I've had him 3 times. You'll learn useful information for real. Amazing lecturers and ALWAYS available in office hours to guide you. He will give you a hard time if you're just looking for answers without wnating to understand the material. He's unbelievable. THE BEST
I graduated but still wanted to post this. I had Gels for 3 other courses in accounting and he is the reason I changed my major to accounting. This summer I did another audit internship and everything I learned a year ago from Gels was what we actually did on audits. He gave actual client documents for us to audit and it was spot on. He rocks.
Gels is the best! He lays out the syllabus clear as day for you to see before class begins even. Grading is tough but fair as long as you stay on top of work, it should be fine. He divides the grade up so it's mostly tests and homework but provides study guides that tell you everything you need to know for said exams. Funniest teacher ever.
I didn't give Gels credit during the semester and never responded to his emails when he emailed or talked to me and told me I was an 'A' student giving the course 'B' effort. He was right. I actually was putting in 'C' effort and woke up the last 3 weeks of the course. Gels is one of a kind. He cares. I can't wait to have hi next semester.
Had Gels 4 times and without a blink he's the best instructor I've had in 4 years. Straight forward. Clear. Concise. Always available. He is a true inspiration to every student at Saunders even if you don't have him. I have had so many talks with him and he cares. Thanks Gels
What a shock this course was. Gels emailed during the summer telling us that college isn't high school and we needed to be ready. I wasn't ready. Worked hard to get the A- and couldn't have done it without Gels help. Go to office hours. Do what he says. No reason I didn't earn the A just thought i could talk my way through it.
