Excellent prof - tells you real life cases as a business lawyer. Never missed a class!
nice guy, usefull for real life law problems. Class is a waste of time, doesn't teach squat. But worth to go once in a while to hear funny cases he has had.
great teacher, only good things to say
Good course. Makes things relevant to 'real world' with his anecdotes. A little disoraganized at times.
He's great! Lots of funny stories, and open book MC exams. Tells you right from the beginning that you don't have to come to class, but it's worth going for the real life examples.
Awesome professor. Give this guy a raise.
material is not easy but he's very helpful. you can get an 80 w/o going to class but hearing him explain everything makes it so much clearer. great prof.
Great class and great prof. Uses real life examples to explain concepts. Is honest and exams are fair. Great learning experience!
Great class. Was interested in the subject from the start. Was very easy and I highly recommend it.
Love the subject and King just makes it that much better...uses his real life to explain topics and is very helpful at making the material relatable to students. A fun, talkative and entertaining teacher who appears to be honest with his opinions.
Great Prof and Course, highly recommended
this is one of the best. informative, fair, and funny :)
Definitely not suited to be a finance professor and should stick to teaching law. His explainations were wrong most of the time, he uses no teaching aids (eg. notes, ppt, overheads), and attempts to offer explanations when he doesn't know the answer. He is one of the worst profs I've ever had.
understanding and clear prof...hard exams...
Very engaging to listen to; very motivational. Funny jokes. Great examples to complement the text material. Doesn't use powerpoint/board, but it seems to work in my opinion (listen instead!). Great class involvement/ answers questions very well. Exams are fair/ test overall concepts rather than minute textbook details. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM!!!!!
Makes class interesting. Funny guy. Easy exams if you go to class....nothing on the exam that he doesnt stress in class.
great teacher
Best prof ive ever had and best course ive ever taken......if you want to take the best course you've ever taken take this course
Overall, he is a wonderful person. However, he was great in 275 but in 276 I wasn't satisfied. There is wayyyy too much information on the handouts and although the exam is open book its hard to find the info when the questions are so detailed. If I can go back, I wish I didn't choose this course. But in 275---it was EXCELLENT!!!!
Although he knows what he's talking about, he doesn't seem to care so much about his students. He does not use any teaching tools and eventually gets everyone bored within an hour or so. His exam questions are highly arguable and can be confusing. Overall, it isn't difficult to pass his class but it is a challenge to get an 80+.
He's probably the worst professor I've had. He doesn't care for his students but he tries to convince them that he does. In other words, he's teaching just for the paycheque + pension. His exams questions are highly arguable and tricky. Oh, and I can't forget the fact he shows up late to every class and doesn't use any presentation tools.
An OK professor..does not cover everything on test in class, definitely need to go to class and know the book. Not very helpful, and i didnt like the style of his exams, i found them a little tricky
Great prof, very helpful, interesting lectures.
The best prof ever!
He's an overall great teacher! Will try to help each individual as much as possible. Very easy to listen to and learn in his classes.
King is fantastic. He is extremely knowledgeable and his class is very interesting. His exams are open book and not too difficult. I highly recommend this class.
Best Prof. I've had, helpful and knowledgeable
By far best Prof i've ever had. Would honestly consider sitting in on his lectures even if not enrolled in the course
Awesome prof! His lectures are very interesting and engaging. He is a practising business lawyer, and tells us about his experiences. The exams are quite tricky though, but if you read the textbook, review the notes and online quizzes, you should be fine.
AMAZING PROF! Loved his class and loved the way he talked. He has a great sense of humour and definately made the course material interesting.
I took MOS 2275 and 2276 with King. He is a very nice teacher! open book exams for 2276. only 2 exams for each course all MC but he makes them tricky! recommended
We would never get through everything in class....not even half of the material so you must do some reading/skimming on your own. Make sure you understand the cases in the book because many exam questions relate to them. Went to all classes before 1st exam and did OK...went to only 1 class after that and killed the final. It takes some adapting...
As a practicing business lawyer, King would recount his own experiences, giving students a practical application for learned theoretical knowledge. Personal anecdotes kept the class interesting, as well. Make sure to read the textbook as many multiple choice questions specifically draw from cases. All around great guy who loves his work.
His class was by far the best I had all year. I took 275 in first year and although it wasn't an 80+ class, I enjoyed every bit of it. King will reply to emails with detail and offer time out of classes for help. Fav professor. Tricky-ish exams (stick to your fundmentals, always), but worth it for the knowledge.
Favourite prof/class all year. Really interesting class discussions. A LOT of reading. Exams can be tricky.
had him for 2275 and 2276. best prof I've had at western and my favourite class(s) this year. Very interesting lectures, however we do not cover all the material so there is a lot of reading to do. Very fair (and in my opinion easy) tests and quizzes.
The best prof I've ever had at Western. His course is the most interesting thing you will have the privilege to listen to.
If you are taking Business Law, you would be an idiot to not arrange your schedule around this guy. He is hilarious, knows his stuff back to front and keeps the class interesting. You will wake up in the morning to hear him talk about his cases and the course content. Exams are based on application questions, but really fair.
Phil is possibly the smartest man to roam this planet. He's UWO's own Chuck Norris. Lectures are captivating and I wish he taught my other professors how to teach.
Unreal prof. His passion for law shows through in his lectures- this is the standard that all profs should strive to achieve!
best prof at uwo - easily.
Best Professor I have ever had
Very inspiring. Often encouraged class to question and explore real-world issues. Challenged us to live better lives.
Best teacher at uwo hands down. Had him 5 years ago in undergrad for Biz Law I and II. He was so inspiring I'm not in law school and I truly believe its because of his influence(he also wrote my reference). I recommend everyone to take any class they can with Phil King (and go to office hours for great exam help)
King is the best prof I have ever had - engaging, clear, & above all, inspiring. Helps you understand concepts, applies principles to real life, & gives the impression he really cares about educating his students and their social well-being. Lectures explain everything really well. Inspires me to practice law in the future. Thank you so much, King!
Only had him for four classes in Law 2101, but he was fantastic! Most engaging professor I've encountered in 4 years.
Amazing Professor. Best one at UWO. Encouraged me to pursue law, and made me want to go to class.
Amazing and a very inspiring instructor. He doesn't just address business law but also address different issues we are facing in life and in our world today. Gives great advice that can be used in real life. Great sense of humor and not your typical professor. Overall, a great class experience with this guy.
BEST PROF EVER! lectures are extremely interesting, super helpful, and really clear. Take this course!
AMAZING! Take this class with him! His lectures are always interesting, and has motivated me to become a better student.
Incredible, engaging professor. Every day he related course material to current events. He cares a lot for students and his speech about mental health in one class stuck out for me for its compassion and empathy. Seems like one of the realest professors/teachers I have ever had. Really appreciate what he taught me and I hope others can too.
Took MOS 2275 and 2276. Both were great. He is very motivating. His lectures are very important. Challenging but very fair exams.
Great professor. Make sure you go to class and take notes on the examples he talks about.
Took Mos 2275 with him, and I have to admit, he is certainly one of my favourite Professors. As probably stated before, make sure you attend all his lectures, read the book and the exam won't be too difficult then. His lectures are entertaining, and you learn quite a lot.
Professor King is an amazing professor! He doesn't have lecture notes so you have to pay attention in class and make your own notes. If you take good notes, you can do amazing in the class, you just have to pay attention. Make sure not to miss any class! He is one of the best professors I've had at UWO and one can do really well in the class!
Professor King is the best prof I have had at Western so far! He is clearly very knowledgable and presents his material in a clear and applicable way! He made me interested in Business Law, a subject I expected to be dry. If you have the chance, take this course! His 2.5 hour lectures flew by!
He is such an amazing and nice guy. His exams are hard though, however they are in the same format as the practice exam and quizzes. He wants you to do well just as much as you want to, very understanding and compassionate!
Hands down best professor at Western. Inspired me to pursue a career in Law.
Best prof I've had at Western by a long shot. His lectures are fantastic and I actually looked forward to this course every week. You need to do the readings and listen in class as a lot of his examples prove to be extremely helpful, especially on the exam. Re-arrange your entire schedule to get this guy and you won't regret it.
Focus on his lecture and his example, you will get 80+ for sure. He is a great teacher and lawyer. His lecture is pretty clear.
So far one of the best prof's I've had at UWO. Cares about his students and makes you interested in law. Love how he discusses current issues and controversies happening in the world today
By far the best prof I've ever had. Always willing to take the time to make sure you do well. Attend lectures, make good notes and the exams won't be too hard. Lectures are really interesting!
Toke his Business Law I. He's very clear and knowledgeable, and he cares about his students. I would recommend him.
Exceptionally engaging lecturer who focuses on showing you how to apply seemingly obtuse topicsconcepts to real life situations. Attendance is absolutely mandatory to do well in this class, as are the assigned readings.
Great Guy. Very funny. Lectures are well organized and conversational. Every class starts with a contemporary issue delivered in a thought provoking and interest way by King. Read the textbook and go to class and you will be fine. I loved both of his classes.
Just a great person to learn from
Probably one of the best Profs Western has. Its a very tough class but if you attend all his lectures and do the readings its possible to do well.
Definitely one of my favourite profs at Western! He made a potential very dry subject really interesting. Make sure you take notes on the examples he gives in class as they are very helpful when it comes to the exam, also the majority of his exam questions are application based so make sure you study for that.
one of my fav
Far and away best prof I've ever had. Truly an honour to have been taught my Phil in both 2275 & 2276. You must attend class to do well, but his lectures will always keep you interested. His talks at the beginning of class are always outstanding and gives you things to think about that you probably never thought of. Be prepared to work hard.
Easily one of the best prof I have ever had. I took both 2275 and 2276, and even though the content seems dry, he always has a way of make lecture interesting and engaging. It is the course that I actually look forward to each week. Listening to his lecture is a pure enjoyment that i will remember for years to come. Thanks for a great year, King!
Probably the best professor I've had at Western. It is truly an honour to listen to him speak and although attendance is necessary, it definitely doesn't feel like a chore. Make sure that you read the textbook and take notes on his examples as his exams are situational and often based off of those. Not hard to do well as long as you put in the work
Hands down best prof I've had at Western. Took 2275 first term, and then 2276 second term (though I wasn't planning it initially) since he's a great prof. His rants at the beginning of every class are very interesting. Explains everything clearly. Cracks a hilarious joke here and there. If you get the chance DEFINITELY take these courses with King
One of the best profs at Western. Both MOS 2275 & 2276 are great with him. Lectures are not mandatory, but you need to come and pay attention to do well. Good thing is, he makes lectures an absolute treat and is incredibly good at explaining answers to questions that you don't understand. If you can, take a course with this guy.
King the best professor I've ever had. His class is the only one where I can concentrate fully for 3 hours straight - extremely engaging and interesting. Class participation is not marked, but I would not recommend skipping class. The MOS2275 material requires a good understanding and reading. However, he never tests on irrelevant details.
My favourite class during this semester! He is so passionate about this and has so much knowledge which makes the concepts easy to understand. I also like how he doesn't focus on details in the exam but on application questions. Would definitely recommend!
King always had really interesting and informative lectures. His power-points don't have much information on them so you have to rely on the examples he gives in class. I studied almost exclusively from the textbook and he says to have a basic understanding of the legal concepts and principles. For someone who's average is a 75 I got a 65.
One of the best professors I've ever had! Really engaging and manages to make 3 hours lectures not dreadful. Exams are fair - if you study hard you can do really well. 2275 is a lot easier than 2276, so if you don't do well in 2275 I wouldn't recommend 2276 since a lot of the info is building off of 2276. Overall if you take law take it with King!!
Wow. King is the best prof I have ever had in university. If you did 80+ in 2275 I highly recommend taking 2276. Both classes King was engaging and funny. To get a good grade you should definitely go to all the classes and keep up with readings. Good thing is his lectures are amazing and the reading is interesting (besides the licenses/contracts).
He is a good lecturer, making things fun and easy. If you understand the examples in class, and plus you do the textbook readings, you will make it on exams. Lectures are important, and be ready for typing! Even business law is not my type, I really do think King is perfect! You could learn a lot from him! PS.I studied hard, got 80+
Best prof Ive ever had at Western. His lectures are very interesting and he keeps you focused for the 2-2.5hr lecture (never goes 3hrs). He relates law to real life situations which he starts with at the beginning of every lecture. Exams are fair, reading and studying the textbook is a must. 80+ achievable
Great Prof!!!
King is an incredible prof. He's also very smart and funny! Easily the most engaging prof at western. i learned so much in this class and i think its as useful as it is interesting.
Phil King is one of the best professors I've had at Western. He is caring, funny at times yet serious when he needs to be, gives fair exams, and looks out for his students. He incorporates into his lectures life tips and advice. He is the one professor I have met in a business program who's not in it for the money - he's in it to make a difference.
My favourite class this year! Philip King is an amazing professor who does everything to engage you and make the lecture interesting over the 2/3ish hours. Exams are fair and are more so understanding than memorization.
Phil King is hands down the best professor I have ever had, and probably will ever have. He has a great sense of humour, and keeps the class engaged with so many real life cases. I loved this class and was disappointed if I ever missed a lecture. A real gem!!!
Great guy, lectures are so interesting and actually help a lot with the exams since they're all application. Would probably go to them even if they didn't. Would take literally any course he teaches
This guy is hands down the best and most genuine professor i've ever come across at Western. He's very funny and knows how to make the lecture very interesting and engaging. I highly recommend taking a class with him. Pay attention to what he says on lectures and read the textbook and 80+ is achievable.
King made MOS 2075 super interesting. I looked forward to his lectures. He was captivating and easy to understand.
Great speaker, it's really obvious he's passionate about what he's talking about. Goes above and beyond during lecture. His exams are very application based and can be pretty tough, but are generally fair. I would recommend recording the lecture or taking very detailed notes.
King is AMAZING, especially for any MOS BisLaw courses. While the courses themselves aren't easy - you can still get a high mark if you put in the work and study well. A good tip for his classes is to take really good lecture notes and use them as a guideline - for what to study in the textbook. 100% would recommend for anyone who loves learning.
The BEST professor!! The below comments are all true. NOTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT THIS CLASS!!! Not a morning person? This will make you want to get up. He tells relevant, interesting, funny stories before each class. VERY engaging. I would take this class again and again. It made me consider going into Law. This professor has a special gift.
Phil King is a great prof. He clearly knows what he is talking about and cares deeply about the subject. His classes are organized and easy to follow and he will readily answer questions.
BEST PROF AT WESTERN. cares about his students. explains everything super well. a lot of reading but he makes the course material interesting.
I would sell my soul to the devil for this man. Not only is he an amazing prof, he is an AMAZING person. I have never met anyone so educated and kind in my life.
Absolutely amazing prof, an incredibly interesting person that just makes everything he teaches that much more interesting itself. Exams are super tough but studying a lot won't necessarily get you a better mark, as they are application based.
Loved this course! Professor King does an amazing job at teaching asynchronously and the exams are all super fair. He does a great job at answering questions outside of class and is extremely nice. Even though it is online, Professor King does a great job at explaining the content. Would 100% recommend this course and would take it again.
Great prof, explains concepts very well.
Professor King is by far one of the best professors at Western. He is articulate, funny, and makes online learning entertaining. To do well, you MUST take notes on what he says in lectures and the examples he gives because they help your thought process a lot. All application based questions, and 90% of questions overlap between reading and lecture
Phil King was one of the best profs I ever had at Western! Amazing course, amazing lectures... I still remember many of his lectures & stories today (years later!). Would HIGHLY recommend this course and him as a prof in general!
Of all the professors that teach Law2101 as a group, Prof King was a true gem among stones. His lectures were clear, he gave fantastic examples, and he provided in-depth analyses of the different topics rather than just reading off the slides like the other profs for that class. 10/10
Great Professor! Cares what he talks about and wants students to learn.
One of my favourite profs at Western. I recommend the blended course if it's still available. Great lectures where he gives you really good examples to help you understand course concepts. I didn't have to read the textbook once.
Great lectures
Loved Professor King. He's one of the only profs I have where I don't put him on 2x speed. I watch all the lectures because I actually want to. He's funny and a good storyteller. 100% recommend. Very fair tests as well.
Professor King's lectures are great I enjoyed watching the recordings. Uses a lot of practical examples to help make sense of the reading. Tests are very logic-based so there isn't a lot of memorization.
This professor is one the of best I've had. You need to understand his lectures well to do well on midterms but the content itself is so interesting I dont even mind it. He provides interesting real life cases and explains concepts through examples so its never just theory. He throws in occasional jokes and always keeps his lectures entertaining.
Professor King is great and very knowledgeable in the course content. He posted lecture videos beforehand and you can study in your own time. But the textbook is dry and hard to read. The exam is mostly based on videos and there are some questions I assume comes from testbank. Also, he still uses proctortrack which is not convenient at all
best prof in Mos
Amazing at explaining concepts in an entertaining manner.
Phil King reminds me that university is not always a soulless use of time and money. Might be the only course I actually did not mind waking up for. What a great prof.
He is the best, take this class if you can!
Easily one of the best professors I have ever had. He is incredibly knowledgeable, and you can tell he is passionate about law. While the exams for this course are quite difficult (must study hard and focus on interpretations), I would definitely take it again. Love him!!
Literally a king
One of the best courses I've taken. He is super nice and knowledgeable about everything he teaches. Exams are mostly lecture heavy but I suggest reading the textbook to consolidate everything you've learned as that helps a ton.
Philip King has been an amazing teacher for me. He makes his lecture videos not only interesting, but also funny and connects them to bigger concepts in the world. Philip King's teaching made me passionate about the class, something which many other Professors fail to do. I would recommend anyone to take a class with King.
Amazing prof. He posts all the lectures online, and class is usually only 1.5 hours has he only reviews the important or confusing points. His lectures are very helpful and you can get a good grade by just watching them and understanding the basic concepts, which he helps you do by giving lots of examples. I enjoyed this class thanks to him!!
Good prof, posts all lectures online that go into good detail of the course. One thing is that he tends to heavily focus on certain topics over other topics which is a bit annoying and gives certain application questions where we he never goes over (specifically money related questions).
Philip King was one of the most caring profs i've had here at Western University. Hands down would recommend this prof to anyone considering taking a business law course. Although his exams are quite tough, his lectures are very engaging and if you really focus on his lecture videos with everything he says it is easy to do well.
I loved this prof. His lectures are long, and you have to have a LOT of time commitment to be successful in this course. MUST watch all online lectures and make detailed notes, including every example he gives. Requires dedicated memorizing for exams. Lectures are all multiple-choice and situational questions, and they're definitely not easy.
Prof. King is honestly a legend. He has great and engaging lectures and knows, what seems to be, everything about business law. I would highly recommend this class or other classes with King.
Philip King is such an amazing prof! You can just tell he is passionate about the law and is super engaging. This course was quite difficult just because it involves LOTS of time commitment. Reading the textbook and taking detailed notes is really what is going to boost you to that 80+. Expect and 2-3 chapters per week and 2-3 hours of lectures
Amazing prof, is extremely kind, and genuinely cares about you and what he is teaching.
I highly suggest anyone considering taking 2275 to do it! I had no prior knowledge in law before taking this class and it opened my eyes to just how intertwined law is in every aspect of business, let alone our daily lives. Professor King has engaging lectures and relates material to real cases and current events.
Prof. King's 2275 class is a real gem. Engaging lectures, detailed online notes, and just the right level of challenge. Be sure to watch the videos, take good notes, and try unstuck AI - it's a lifesaver for exam prep. Definitely worth taking this course.
I really enjoyed 2275 with King. All the lectures are posted online and exams felt fair with no curveballs. Pretty interesting guy to talk to as well. For studying prioritize lecture videos and textbook notes to supplement.
Pretty tough class, a lot of complicated legal terms and a lot of content to memorize. Lectures are a bit boring, specifically for people with no interest in the legal field. However, Phil King is a good prof, he definitely seems like he knows what he's talking about. My only complaint is that I wish more material was given to help study for tests.
Solid prof, really great lectures in person and online. He is also one of the most genuine profs I have ever seen, checking in on students mental health regularly. His review sessions are great and often can help you do better on the next mid term or final. Make sure to read his textbook as questions not in lectures are on the exam.
Excellent prof. You can easily reach out to him with any question at almost anytime
Good prof, pretty much all exam info in the online lectures. Don't need to go in but he is really engaging and interesting to listen to so I would recommend going for them. He never takes the full 3 hours it says on draft my schedule.
Probably the best Prof I've ever had. Teaches so passionately and in such a refreshing manner compared to many of the Mos profs. Part of the reason I now want to go into law. Exams are tough but fair, if you focus on deep understanding of the material you will do well. The guys loves teaching and loves Western
He links concepts with his personal experiences in business, this makes his class really interesting.
He is an excellent professor and shows a genuine care for his students and his practice. His in-person lectures are very interesting as he often uses the time to speak about real-life experience and gives thoughtful dialogue that will really make you think and reflect. Highly recommend.
