Prof Karsicky has a great lecture. He is HILLARIOUS. His demonstrations are great. Good idea if you read the material beforehand. I didn't get good vibes when approaching him. Fun and challenging class.
Krasicky comes off as a nice guy, and while he seems to be genuinely interested in teaching his students, he simply isn’t good at doing so. His tests require more recollection of his stupid, childish examples than actual comprehension/knowledge. Though

He played the alma mater with glasses of water. It was sweet.
Lectures and demonstrations are clear and coherent. Examples covered in class are often covered in prelims. However, the multiple choice on the exams are extremely difficult. Do not spend any more time on them then you need to take an educated guess.
The alma matta was incredible!
This is one of those classes that you just have to get through. Not fun, not enjoyable, not very useful.
As a lecturer, he tries... usually clear lectures with lots of good demos. However, it's still a class that no one really likes. Exams tend to be difficult.
decent lecturer, but the textbook explains things a bit better. He is not very friendly out of class. There are too many demonstrations in class and puts questions about them on exams. The multiple choice questions are ridiculous.
Great class. one of the few that's actually worth the climb up the hill for. Anyone who is lucky enough to take this course, be grateful. Few courses are as interesting as this one.
Dr. K was pretty cool. He managed to make ridiculously boring material somewhat fun with his demos, as well as his somewhat corny jokes. Hey, at least he tries. Tests and homeworks weren't as bad as I've heard they were.
Nice guy, difficult class, not very enjoyable.
I took this class a couple years ago. Man, you engineering freshmen are getting screwed. See, Krasicky doesn't test physics knowledge--rather, he teaches you what amounts to "trick questions" and moronic insights in class, and that's all that he tests on. A pathetic undergrad experience.
Although Professor Krasicky's class is diffcult, he really tries to explain the course material clearly. His lectures are made interesting by the many demonstrations. When I didn't understand something I'd go to his office hours, and he'd clear it up for me.
I Loved Krasiky's Lecture...... Nice guy out of class too!
Really fun in lecture; many demos. Some people thought the class was hard, but then, it covers a lot of material. He explains it well and is good at getting class participation. Once I left my glasses in the auditorium and e-mailed him about it, and he WENT IN AND GOT THEM WITHOUT ME EVEN ASKING!
He did some pretty cool experiments in class which sometimes made the lectures interesting. Exams were pretty hard, but doable to get an A-. HW problems sets can get long and hard. Reading the book helps a lot.
EXCELLENT, excellent professor and person. Lectures are clear and often entertaining. I HATED AP Physics in high school, but his course turned me around; I absolutely love physics now. I would have missed out if I didn't have him my 1st semester. Extremely helpful and willing to spend time.
Class was entertaining, but not particulary helpful. EXCELLENT demos, but reading the textbook is very important to understand the material (Still, that's pretty much always the case for me). And I really wish he'd stop with the bad jokes in lecture.
very very interesting demos. His mini-questions always helped me to understand conceptual/crucial facts... though, he is quite corny(which is a good thing as a Physics Prof)
Great Prof. Taught well, kept me interested, good demos, interesting, informative homework, easy labs, easy tests, and I actually looked forward to lecture. Great course, I recommend it to anyone who needs a physics credit, thanks to this great prof.
Awesome, awesome, awesome. Took Phys213 this semester with Gibbons and you realize just how luck you were to have Prof. K. Great style of teaching that makes you work and yet lectures are very helpful!
Wasn't the easiest professor, but not impossible. I think the lectures were extemely important, since he based some of the prelim questions exactly on demos he did. Ah yes, A LOT of demos, which also made lecture fun =)
His homeworks are ridiculusly hard and although his lectures were fun I didn't really understand the material very well.
Fun class with lots of examples. He is a hilarious, corny man.
His homework was hard, exams are okay, but I really hate his jokes.
great teacher. Enjoyable lectures
He's a great prof, lots of fun demonstrations and the like, but the tests SUCK HARD.
homeworks HARD, exams IMPOSSIBLE...... but he makes the lectures very interesting with a bunch of demonstrations (stuff that you will remember during your daily life). He actually tries to teach you during his office hours. Very nice guy in general but the classwork is not attractive.
Krasicky is a very nice guy, but not that great of a physics teacher. At the end of this class, I feel like I know how to do a bunch of useless math problems, rather than know physics very well. His teaching style is to go up there and just do examples too... His demos are cool though. I just wish he'd focus on concepts more, rather than just math.
Really enthusiastic and organized. Homework quizzes aren't bad and the prelims are very straightforward. Put in the time and you'll get a good grade. Only complaints are the bad jokes and the methods he uses to force you to go to lecture (no online notes, prelabs handed out in lecture only, clicker question-based attendance).
Krasicky puts in a lot of effort to making class time an exciting learning environment; he's a good teacher, thought the tests are really really hard. Hw's easy. I never knew what the heck was going on in a circuit yet he still gave me a B in the class: <3
He brings so much enthusiasm into his lectures, it's amazing. Clearly, he's excited to be teaching physics, and I think this helped motivate a lot of people. Homework is hard, but enriching.
I went to office hours frequently. He's extremely helpful and caring. The best way I can describe him is that he's extremely caring. Not just to his students, but to all aspects of life. He often talks about current events or other relevant topics to what we're learning.
He is a nice guy in person, but he seems to be a power trip and regularly insults the students during lecture. The exams are impossible - even for those who do very well otherwise. The homework is excessive and the concepts addressed in the homework are not thoroughly covered in lecture. He appears to have something against the Engineering School.
The lectures were well organized, clear, and the notes were extremely helpful. He knew the material very well and had many useful demonstrations to help illustrate the concepts. The math derivations were often confusing but not required for the tests. His passion for physics came through in his teaching. The test were too long and hard.
Lectures were very clear and included many examples of how physics is actually relevant to my life. If you study the lecture notes, tests are reasonable. Clicker q's during class help keep you focused. Overall, although physics is not my fav subject, this was one of the best classes I've taken, with one of the most enthusiastic profs.
Very good at lecturing and always used real life examples and had tons of demos. Homework was never too long and its easy to get access to solutions manual for answers. Enjoyed the weekly hw quizzes rather than getting all your hw graded. Prelims and final usually went beyond lecture and hw ideas and were super hard. Other than that, GREAT teacher.
It seems like some professors just want students to do badly even though they work so hard. I guess they're jealous of the fact that they're teaching the future leaders of the country while they're stuck in an isolated city.
He made class very straight forward and the tests, although though come entirely from class examples, homework, and labs. he also gives hand outs of his slides so you can pay attention instead of coppying everything
He is very nice and genuine. He makes lecture extremely fun and entertaining. I am not a huge fan of all of the i-clicker questions, but if you really study them, you will find they are very relevant to the material on the exams. His class is not easy but he is very good at explaining and again, an awesome person. He is super into physics!
Krasicky was a great lecturer and I went to almost every single one of his office hours because they were really helpful. His demos were interesting, but I wish he could have spent more time explaining difficult questions.
He's overall decent - moves at good pace, very clear and enthusiastic, and very engaging. However, he sometimes moves too quick / doesn't teach difficult material well enough. Also, most of his jokes are very bad.
Looked forward to his lectures every day. His demos make physics concepts seem more applicable and just plain fun. The iClicker was used for participation points, not graded on correctness, which made lectures less stressful. It's not an easy class, but you won't regret taking it.
He knows his material and his demos are good. Lectures you should go to. However, as a professor, when I asked him for help he isn't the nicest guy on the block. Kind of heartless but I guess that's what happens when it's such a huge class. Wasn't particularly helpful in my opinion and taking his class made me dislike physics even more.
Awesome demonstrations, interesting applications and great sense of humor. He is a little quirky, awkward, and obsessed with cats, but overall and amazing professor. I highly recommend taking his class- make sure you go to lecture!
He is AWESOME! His demos make the lectures really fun and interesting. He is very helpful if you have a problem. I went every week to his office hours, during which he explains the homework. He made me love this area of physics (i used to find it a little boring, but not with him!)
I've absolutely hated physics since high school and it's always been my least favorite subject. Professor Krasicky was very lucid and made the topics extremely easy to grasp. He made me genuinely appreciate physics more.
Krasicky really has a good grasp on the subject that he teaches, but he can't seem to simplify it for his students. With pages on pages of derivations for simple equations I tend to get confused about basic concepts. His tests seem unreasonable because of their misleading wording and his ridiculous use of Curious Cat.
Dr. Krasicky is great at demos. He has very deep understanding of physics and does a great job relating his understandings to the students using his planned demonstrations. Read ahead of class though as it ended up helping me close to the last few weeks of the semesters. Be prepared for Curious Cat and his ridiculous acts.
Krasicky is awesome, he makes lectures so entertaining. And this is coming from someone who hates physics. I avoided taking this class for a few semesters, and was pleasantly surprised by how interesting he made the material. Tests weren't too bad if you knew the homework and lecture notes well.
Krasicky is the best. I never thought I would be able to enjoy and understand physics as much as I did with him as my prof. Definitely seek him out during office hours. He's very helpful one on one. But only bother him with real questions.
Best professor I've had so far. He is so enthusiastic and has so many demos prepared for lecture. Very clear lectures and fair tests.
Krasicky is the man! He's super enthusiastic and really tries to get the students to think critically about physics. The prelims and final were absolutely fair if you were diligent about going to lecture (which is required). I feel like he's a little less approachable in person, so make sure if you need to ask him something that it's important.
Krasicky was awesome: he really wants you to understand what's happening in the course. He appreciates when people pay attention to the lecture and does a great job of keeping it interesting. I had a really rough second prelim and he immediately made time to see me and go through the test with me. I would take the class again.
1112 demonstrations were amazing. The class was incredibly well organized and thought out. If you put in effort, you are guaranteed to pass and will likely do better than that if you understand the material. Krasicky will help you if you ask politely and show an effort to understand the material, but he does not tolerate slackers whatsoever.
His lecture demonstrations are awesome and provide insight into the content he's teaching. Would definitely recommend taking 1112 with Prof. Krasicky. He's always happy to help, as long as you put in the time and work into his class. He's not willing to help slackers one bit.
Krasicky does great demonstrations!
Lectures were amazing. The content is pretty easy, but the class does take up quite a bit of time.
Best professor I've had so far! Lectures are super helpful, TAs were great, workload wasn't too much. Show up to lecture for iClicker questions and for fun and entertaining demos.
Dr. Krasicky is amazing! I was fortunate enough to have him as my TA for 1112. He is passionate and energetic about physics and he's always good for a laugh, which made discussion sections with him enjoyable. I learned so much from him this semester. His office hours are incredibly valuable. He will challenge you but he will inspire you to succeed!
Krasicky's an amazing lecturer. His demonstrations help with understanding the material a lot, and he's just generally good at explaining things. Logistically the course was also run very smoothly, and grading is very fair. If you put in the work, you should end up with a decent grade since the course is curved pretty highly at the end as well.
Dr. Krasicky was not only a great lecturer (online even), but he taught the material in a way that I understood it very well. He is extremely passionate about what he does and it is made clear in his style of teaching. Loved PHYS 1112
Requires a lot of work but Professor Krasicky has amazing demos that really help you succeed and the class is curved fairly easily at the end.
Phil and Bert did their best to make the lectures worthwhile. Great guy but the lectures were kinda monotonous. The tests were very fair and class is curved well at the end.
Amazing professor, really makes an effort to make lectures fun and memorable with his experiment demonstrations. Class is organized really well so that the homeworks, reading quizzes, and discussions really help you learn the material. It is time consuming but the time spent helps to do good on the exams.
All around good, fun guy. Tries his best to make lectures interesting and engaging (sometimes through iClicker questions though). He often starts lectures a few minutes early/exactly on time and goes through some things quickly, but in general I think his lectures are good and useful to attend. Course is very fairly and clearly graded.
The class is structured fairly straightforward and there are no surprises since everything is laid out for you to understand. The homework might take a significant chunk of time, but the hard work will pay off in the form of test questions. He is a great professor, if not dry at times, and will sometimes speed through lectures, so come prepared.
Professor Krasicky is a phenomenal lecturer. He consistently packs his lectures full of interesting and intuitive demonstrations, and you can sense his immense passion for teaching during every lecture. The iClicker questions can get a bit rough at times, so try to establish a group of friends around you to work through them together.
Really great at performing demos in class and explaining the concepts well. Also very passionate about the material.
Phil's lectures always have so much infectious energy and enthusiasm. His demonstrations are clear and he always tries to explain common mistakes that students may make. There is reading before each class ("flipped classroom") and the content is as difficult as any intro physics class.
His lectures were very well done. The course is outlined extremeley clearley and everything is easy to follow. If you remember High School physics you will do fine.
Took FA21. Awesome Prof! Along with entire PHYS1112 teaching staff, made class super enjoyable. Already took Physics C-M in high school so material was easy. P-sets could be long, but not hard if you went to study hall. Exams were very fair (ave 75-85). Great lecturer and overall awesome person.
Very passionate professor with engaging lectures and demonstrations. Moderate, sometimes heavy workload, but the course is extremely well-organized with plenty of resources available outside of class time. Best class I took freshman year
Taken FA23. This course was really laid out nicely. I also had a wonderful TA (shout out to Steve). Prof explained stuff very clearly in class, was quite enthusiastic with nice demonstrations and was accessible for questions after class. Most of my learning came from lecture, COOPs (Disc.), and the HW. You also get familiar with Curious Cat.
Professor Krasicky is funny, passionate, and overall a great guy who gives incredible lectures. The class is a bit time-consuming (with 3 lectures, 2 discussions, reading quizzes, and psets every week) but it is extremely well-organized and is rather "beginner-friendly" to first-semester freshmen. He is also great outside of class.
Amazing prof. Went in hating physics but he completely changed my mind. Flipped classroom structure was a good amount of work but ultimately beneficial, with lectures clearing up confusion and including relevant demonstrations. Exams are fair and plenty of outside resources (office hours, etc) provided. Krasicky wants you to succeed, loved him.
I have never had a bad lecture in his class
Amazing lecture and cool demonstrations. Also very helpful during office hour.
Class is uncurved and homework is lengthy and difficult. Lots of studying is required, but the lectures (and provided note packets!!) are very well done. Demonstrations in lectures are also engaging. TA wise, SOROUSH IS THE GOAT (don't be scared off during add-drop).
Krasicky is a great lecturer. It's a flipped classroom, so the textbook readings are mandatory and a decent amount of work. P-sets can take up to 6-8 hours, but office hours and the TAs are really helpful. Prelims were fair in their difficulty and content. Overall, you will learn a lot and the grading is fine.
Came in with a bad physics background but wasn't an issue bc Krasicky is AMAZING. Prelims/final were difficult but we were extremely well prepared. I LOVE THE PHYSICS DEPT AT CORNELL.
Krasicky is amazing! His lectures are very engaging. The exams are extremely fair and pretty easy to prepare for if you do all the coops, homework, and review lectures. I hated physics in high school, but this class absolutely flipped my opinion on the subject. Absolute GOAT professor
He's definitely the GOAT! Lectures are really interesting! Homework is a little hard but only take 5%in the final grade and mostly base on completion.
The lectures aren't gonna teach you anything but rather help you prepare for the exams. So be ready to do most of the work yourself and read a lot. The TAs will be the most help, especially the ones that have been TAing for a long time. The demonstrations in lectures are the most fun, the Co-ops are a little tedious though .
I wish I had paid more attention in class but sometimes it just gets kinda boring. We can all tell Krasicky and the rest of the phys 1112 staff really cares about making sure students understand concepts!! He made it so the last two exams was worth more (if you have an upward trend) so you can redeem yourself if the first prelim didnt go well!!
Great teacher
He's the goat
I am willing to fail this class to take it again!
