i LOVE this professor!!! SO entertaining and funny, but also is an excellent statistics teacher. always is offering extra help, but shouldn't be needed. Tests are modified multiple choice. Uses the internet for homework and is MANDITORY, but it's usually only 10-15 questions/chapter and is due on test day. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM.

Nice teacher who is very helpful. The on-line homework is time consuming but if you do well on the HW, then you will do well on his tests, which are typically easier than the HW. Four tests at 15% each, HW 15%, and final 25%. HW due at time of test. Pay attention and show up and you'll do fine!! :)

If you're not into math, the material can be pretty boring. And this guy isn't about entertaining the class... however he makes the material relatable (giving understandable examples), grades tests on the same day (which I LOVE), gives prompt email responses to questions, and is overall willing to help however he can. Genuinely nice man.

This is the best teacher I've had at greenville tech. He makes math MUCH easier and easy to understand. He is extremely helpful and will always do more examples or go back over something if you ask him too. GREAT TEACHER!

This guy is a nice teacher and is willing to help you however he can, but his teaching style is weird and it makes it hard to understand the material. He just does problems and does not explain how to do them well. He is one of the better math teachers at Tech, but he just teaches different.

I was really dreading statistics but Dr.Larson made this class enjoyable and manageable. He is really helpful and patient. I was really lucky to have him as a teacher. Would highly recommend him for statistics.

Great teacher! Teaching style is a little strange but give him a brake he has a PHD in statistics. He really wants everyone to understand and do well. never makes you feel stupid for asking a question and is always willing to help. Do the homeowrk and go over the old tests he gives you as study guides. he puts some of those questions on the tests.

Great teacher, He has a Different style of teaching and is very articulate but is willing to help in any way he can. He has a PHD and it shows so give him a break and ask questions when you don't understand and he will do his best to help. Very Smart and willing teacher, I would Recommend him for anyone taking Stats!

A really good professor. He is not only extremely smart in his field, but is understanding and always willing to help you. Out of all my math classes through my undergrad & profgrad, he has absolutely been the clearest one. Math is not easy-Larson will make it doable.

Dr. Larson is a great professor. He let you know exactly what will be on the test and provides study guides. However you do have to study sometimes the questions can be a little confusing. But overall great class and would recommend him to anyone who wants a fun math class.

Dr.Larson is a fantastic teacher, basically goes through page by page of the textbook very thoroughly for a clearer explanation. Will give a sample test to practice on your own before each exam. Will also give you an outline of what type of problems to expect on each exam. Overall it was a great experience!

I was very worried about taking MAT 120 as I have never been particularly gifted in math. Dr. Larson taught in a way that made me able to understand the concepts being covered. Before each test he would go over exactly what type of problems we could expect. He is a caring teacher and wants all of his students to succeed. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Larson was extremely nice and made the entire class feel at ease and comfortable. He explains what the tests will be like and grades very fairly. You can tell he is eager to fight for his students to succeed. I detest math but enjoyed Dr. Larson a lot.

Mr. Larson always happy, his teaching may be fast but i believe that if you are willing to stay he will be help you out with every problems.

Attend class and pay attention. Everything he goes over is on the test and plus before each test he goes over what is on the test. He is very understanding and will go over something if you do not understand. He will slow down if you ask n is always understanding with those who have children. I wanted is MAT120 class, but his class was taken quick!

Dr. Larson is a great teacher. Very helpful and wants his students to pass. Gives sample quizzes. Beware though, the material is hard. Must be diligent and don't miss class. Very quick and helpful with e-mails. Would recommend to anyone who has to take this class.

He is a very helpful instructor. He makes himself available whenever you need him. This class was not easy, but if you show up, ask questions, and do the homework assignments, you will do fine. Be prepared to spend A LOT of time doing the homework and studying for this class.

Hands down Mr.Larson is the best teacher. I had him last semester for statistics. I have never liked math and have always struggled with this subject but Mr.Larson made it enjoyable. This class was easier than 32,101,and, 102! I highly recommend him!

Mr. Larson is an awesome teacher. I dreaded taking this class but he made it much easier than I expected it to be. Don't get me wrong, it's a tough topic and you have to study, but Mr. Larson is very helpful. I highly recommend taking one of his classes if you need the higher maths.

Class is very easy. He grades very fair. If you make a small mistake he isn't going to mark it half wrong like some Math teachers do. He is the best math teacher by FAR. Take him if you have a chance.

Mr Larson truly cares about the student. He will help you in any way that he can so that you will pass. He grades fairly. He will not guess where you are having problems so you have to communicate with him.

I recommend Professor Larson for Mat 140. He does a good job at explaining the material in detail and goes over problems from the book in class. You will have to study and do the homework, so be prepared. Tests are hard but he gives partial credit to help your grade.

Only had 4 tests and some online homework for grade. Online HW was an easy grade as long as you get it done. Tough material but he grades "very" leniently and give you extra points if you can show more work on tests.

Larson is such a good professor that cares about his students. There's only 4 tests, but don't worry he grades very easy as long as you explain yourself. He drops your lowest test grade and even 15 percent of your homework. I had him for stats, but I'm for sure taking him for college algebra. Overall, one of my favorite professors here at Tech. :)

Really wants students to do well. Very helpful and tries to give as much credit as possible on problems you don't give the correct answer to.

Dr. Larson is a very nice teacher. I'm terrible at math and was terrified beyond belief to take this class. If you do your homework, come to class (and pay attention), you'll pass.

Best teacher, hands down. He is so helpful. If you don't love Dr. Larson, then something is wrong with you. He genuinely cares and he is super understanding. I would take him again & again if I could. Hurry and register for his class :)

Seriously, the best! Looooove him ! I am not a math person (or at least i didnt think i was) but he sure did make me feel smart. He will continue to elaborate on problems until everything is crystal clear for you. He is very accommodating, and replies to emails quickly. It is VERY apparent he wants his students to excel, TAKE HIM! TRUST ME !

By far the best math professor. He actually cares about his students and is always willing to help. If he taught higher courses I would choose his classes in a heartbeat. I definitely recommend taking any of his classes. Be sure to do all your homework and don't be afraid to ask questions.

i was in his fast track class , I'm terrible at math , i've had to re take every other math class prior to this twice ! and i got a B IN his class on my first try ! I purchased the online book , i did my homework , i used study quizzes and i made it ! good luck ! with him you will defiantly succeed though

Great teacher. If you take good detailed notes (everything he writes on the board) and review the night before, you'll get an A. Just make sure you keep up with homework. Otherwise the class isn't difficult.

Best math professor at Greenville Tech! Had him for Calc I and II. He speaks clearly and coherently, making tough subjects much easier. Very clear about what will be on tests, and gives you practice tests and examples in the book to work on that will have you well-prepared on test days. Very friendly and enthusiastic also! Great professor!

An amazing professor. Larson is the best math teacher at greenville tech hands down. Had him for Calc 1 and 2. He takes time to explain each problem and listens to his students. He makes himself available for office hours if needed and does his best to help students review for his tests.

Larson is an amazing teacher. He is passionate about the subject, and caring about his students. However, I made sure to make it to every class and take notes, and do everything I was supposed to. You must not skip class for Calculus I and II no matter who is teaching it. Practice tests are an excellent example of what the tests are like.

I had Larson for trig. This was my "welcome to college, you have to study" class. Take notes, ask questions, seek help if you still have questions, and work problems. He is very fair with grading.

I took both Calculus 1 and 2 with Professor Larson. He was very helpful, and he did a great job of breaking down the material so you could actually understand it rather than mindlessly memorizing formulas and theorems.

Dr. Larson explain a hard subject very well. I would take his class again no questions asked.

Dr. Larson seems to really want his students to do well. I took a hard class and was very worried when I would turn in my tests but somehow I kept making Bs! I usually dont talk in class but he would still acknowledge me by my name and that means a lot! I am not a math person at all but because of him I will pass.

Mr. Larson was a great teacher! He only cares about the students best interest. He wants everyone to succeed. The class was taught lecture style. However, he would personally work examples o the board. If you didn't understand something, he would explain it in a different way. Overall, great teacher and great class!

Philip Larson is the best math professor I've ever had. He explained things far more clearly than the textbook ever did, and made calculus a breeze. I would recommend this professor to everyone.

Outstanding math professor, by far the best math professor I've ever had. I can't recommend him strongly enough. Very clearly communicated esoteric concepts of statistics in a very clear and accessible way. Provided clear grading criteria and made every possible effort to ensure his students' success.

Best Teacher for MAT at tech because he actually cares if you understand the material. His directions are clear, hes not to hard on grading, and actually teaches you to understand.

I had Dr. Larson for an Education class and it was interesting, but not what I expected. We learned a lot about communism and communists as opposed to teaching and education material. We were required to read the whole textbook which was the test material. The quizzes and tests are easy. He didn't go over the PRAXIS stuff like he said he would.

Mr. Larson was absolutely one of my favorite teachers. In the beginning of the class you can tell him what grade you want and he will do everything to make sure you get there. He is great at helping students outside of class. If you show up to class and make genuine effort he notices. He is very nice. The projects are very easy.

He is a great professor. I highly suggest you take him if you have the opportunity. This is not a subject that come very easy for me but he taught in a way that helped me to understand and apply the material I was learning. He does provide you all the material you need to make an A you have to use it and apply yourself.

Dr. Larson is a great professor for Calc 1 and 2, and he is very easily accessible outside of class and cares for every one of his students. Only 80% attendance is required to stay in the class, but to succeed one should either make it to all of his great lectures or be great at reading the chapters in the math textbook. Probably the best at GTech.

He is the best professor for Math 110. Please do take his class if you want to PASS!!!

I don't have enough good things to say about Dr. Larson. He is an awesome professor. He is caring and wants you to succeed through his class. He is available before & after classes and even helps outside of class for tutoring. I wish I had him for my previous math classes & I know I would've done better. If you need a Stats class, I recommend him!!

Dr. Larson is a wonderful teacher, I absolutely recommend any student to him! The students who say he is unclear or hard to follow are NOT correct. He is SO easy to follow and is so sweet and a great teacher to have! he will always help you with any questions you have. I personally struggle with math, but he is the first teacher to get me through,

Look, prob and stats is not the most exciting topic, but Dr. Larson was dope anyways. He is funny, straightforward, and caring. His class is set up in a simple way. Homework is harder than the projects. You can ask him to revise your project before turning it in. He sets aside an entire class period before each test.

Dr. Larson is probably the best professor Greenville Tech has and I'm not joking. I'm an English student and have never been good and Math but I'm coming out of this Stats and Probabilities class with an A+. He is always happy to explain things multiple times and he grades fairly. One of the professors who want you to succeed!

This guy wants you to pass math! Sure, math sucks and no one likes it- but he is willing to accommodate you in any way if you are willing to put in the time. I have never been great at math but he makes it easier to understand and will go over things as much as you need to make things clear He tends to ramble sometimes but hes a funny great guy.

Really enjoyed his lass, not very difficult if you keep up with the online homework. Some examples in class are kind of awkward since he keeps using them over and over again, but overall, I really enjoyed his class.

Great professor, I still see Dr. Larson around GTC he is always very friendly and meek. I would suggest him to anyone, I really enjoyed him as a professor.

Dr. Larson is the ONLY reason I passed Probs and Stats. As long as you prepare for his tests and get all the homework done by the end of the semester you will pass. He goes over the moon to help you pass and is a good teacher and actually knows what he's talking about. If you can try and take his class I would!

I have never had a teacher be so invested in his class and students. I would reccomend him to anyone. If you do the practice problems he gives you and pay attention in class you will do very well. Since I've transferred out of Greenville Tech to Georgia Tech, I still believe he is the best college professor I've had yet.

He is a great professor. Always willing to answer questions. Grade consists of projects, tests, and homework. You can do the homework as many times as you want, fairly easy but needs to be done. Technology is a must in his class, bring laptop or at minimum a phone every day. Stat crunch will be your best friend in this class.

Loved this professor! He is a very good and laid back teacher. Test are not hard at all, study and learn how to use stat-crunch ! It's is one of the best things ever on the test! Projects are super easy and he always answers questions on it.

I had Dr. Larson's class at 8 am, but somehow managed to enjoy it! He is approachable, very specific about what he wants on projects and posts sample tests for you to work beforehand, which are so similar to the real test. The reason I passed with an A is that I went to him during office hours and utilized Lori (the stats tutor) in the math center

I took Professor Larson for my honors class Prob and Stats. He was my favorite professor. Very helpful, and invested in his students. I recommend him to everyone looking to take Prob and Stats. Math is hard for me, yet with his perfect teaching style, I made a 94%.

Honestly, he was the best math teacher I have ever had. He really wants you to pass even if the class is extremely hard. The content was hard for me to grasp but he did all he could so I could pass with a B. I encourage you to study for his test and talk to him if you have any problems. He is extremely understanding!

Dr. Larson explains the material well, is available for questions and feedback to help with the projects and materal. He truly enjoys helping his student be successful.

He does everything to help you make a good grade and is understanding. Only complaint was the ebook was not my favorite, but we really only used it in class. You probably would be fine if you opted out of it/ don't get it.

Dr. Larson really cares about each one of his students. He makes it clear that he's always willing to help with any confusion, and if you do your part by staying on track with the homework, he'll make sure you get a good grade in the class. I'd highly recommend taking stats with him to any student, including non-math people.

Don't let the tags I used fool you, he is an amazing teacher and you're setting up for failure if you take anyone else. If I hadn't gotten him I would have dropped out. Go to class, ask questions, stay on top of HW, and get help on what you don't know. The projects are an easy A. Tests aren't too difficult. He is the best professor GTC has.

I am not a math person, and I enjoyed this class. Dr. Larson really cares about his students and gives clear feedback. The projects are so easy and we often did them in class. Tests aren't too difficult either and he lets us use StatCrunch. Truly I did so well because of the math tutor, Lori Coker. Definitely utilize her and you will be just fine.

I took him for Stats. As long as you do your work, the class is not hard at all. Professor Larson gives good feedback and helps you when you do not understand something. Especially for the projects, if you ask him for help, he basically just tells you the answer.

The most amazing math teacher I've ever had, I seriously cannot recommend him enough. He explains the material in a very simple manner and is always happy to answer questions in person or through email (even on the Weekend). You can tell that he really cares about his students and wants them to succeed in his class.

Professor Larson was an amazing professor who truly cared about his students, and was always willing to help with any questions. His lectures were great and he always prepared you for the exams which were very straightforward. He helped with the projects in class, and was always willing to look over them. I have had 20+ professors at Tech and almost none hold a candle to larson. I had him for calc 2 which is normally a very hard math but he made getting a B require very little effort. this class really helped my gpa and honestly helped me understand calculus better. if you have the option to take him do yourself a favor and take it.

(Took this in 2020) Calc II was a though class but Mr. Larson made it relatively easy to understand. I was able to retain some of the information even to this day. I was even able to make connections between a concept from this class with one from Diff Eq. I had him for both Calc II and Diff Eq and I would recommend him for both classes!

Had him for Calc III last summer after not taking math for four years and he made my tumble back into math a great experience. Super clear, and always willing to stay late to explain things. The BEST!!

If you heard calc 2 was hard or you have taken calc 2 before and failed TAKE LARSON. He explains the material in a way that makes sense and grades tests leniently. He wont give you zeros on test problems just because you get the arithmetic wrong, if you show that you know the steps to a problem he will give you almost full credit for the problem.

Professor Larson made lectures very simple and straightforward. Graded work consists of super easy projects, textbook assignments online, 3 tests, and a final exam. He sends out emails with pretty similar questions for review on test weeks. I would also take advantage of the practice tests as those have some identical questions on the test!

I loved Professor Larson! I am a math person, but Professor Larson has all the great qualities. He teaches through example problems, keeps it interesting, answers questions satisfactorily, and doesn't grade harshly. There are 4 tests and you get an automatic 50 just for showing up; it is impossible to fail. There are also other things I can't fit.

If you're taking Prob & Statistics (MAT120), this is the guy to take, trust me. The other professors make this way harder. Homework is easy but time intensive, not his fault.

Dr. Larson is amazing! He's a very chill professor who is willing to help his students in any way possible. Only 4 tests (including the final), 4 very simple projects, and homework assignments on MyLab. He made the class very doable, and I would highly recommend him!

Dr. Larson did not make this class harder than it is. I dislike math with a passion, but this class was not bad. The homework (mylab) is VERY time consuming!! Do your projects and do well on the exams + the final and you will do great! I'm so glad I took this class with Dr. Larson! I saw the math tutor, Lori Coker, and she was very helpful!

100% recommend if math isn't your strong suit. He makes it easy with his amazing lectures and he will willingly answer any questions you have and provide good feedback. Take advantage of his extra credit opportunities, really helps at end of semester. You have to put in effort though. I was nervous about this class but Dr. Larson made it very easy.

This class takes a lot of work, especially with homework, but he is very forgiving and gives a lot of opportunities to get a good grade in the class. This is a hard class, but he makes it easier to get through. Also, it was pretty common for me to spend around 2-3 hours on a single hw assignment, and we sometimes got 2-3 of those a week.
