Funny teacher. Easy A. You do learn something if you pay attention in class. That's the case with every single class. He talks about life more than English-yes. But he also teaches you about classic stories. Overall, easy teacher & fun!

This teacher is not for sensitive people. He is very cynical& sarcastic. He IS funny if you have a sense of humor. The class is not easy & it's not his responsibility to make it so. No one said it would be a walk in the park- but at least you'll be interested & wide awake in his class.

This is the best English teacher out there. He does not only teach one about English, but the interesting facts about life as well. If one wants to laugh and have a little fun in an English class take this guy. He is not the easiest teacher out there but the enjoyment of the class makes up for it.

Took Vallicella awhile back. Although I learned a lot in his class, he came across as very bitter and was condescending.He even kicked a student out of class for little reason other than his own ego. Teaching is not his calling.

Take vallicella. One of the best professors I have had. He will draw and make the class learn in a twisted circle instead of through the boring step process. Everyone will pass but you must show up to class. Grades on attendance, point of view, and thinking. Anyone can get an A. Only easy in class essays, maybe 10 quizzes, and no hard tests. Awesom

The best, but hampered by less than stellar students. Too much entitlement mentality is why ppeople complain about Vallicela. He is great. If you want to learn then take him. If you want to whine then go somewhere else.

Mr. Vallicella is not a nice guy and he is not easy. Yet again, that's not what you should expect from a college professor. He is very helpful and very clear. Yes he has political views but who doesn't. He is very funny & he does not shove his views down your throat. This teacher is not very the sensitive. He is a great teacher & very intelligent.

He understands and knows how to teach. He is a teacher that makes learning fun. He says too many jokes which is nice, however sometimes he may go over the line. some say he doesnt teach Eng. but if you understand what he is trying to say and where he's going with what he is saying chances of passing the class is an very very very easy "A"

At first you will hate him, but then he's great. He hates numbers, so if u get C's all year long on your papers, but get an A on the final, u get an A in the class! He's funny too. He starts class later than the time schedualed and ends early too.

Best Professor at Glendale, not your typical mindless drone, very insightful and you will actually learn something about the larger world. Don't be a jerk and you will do fine, dont wear a hat to class or take phone class or show up late and you will do fine.

You mustn't take his humor too literally. He is a fun teacher and he makes the class very interesting. If you don't want to be bored he's a teacher who will keep you entertained and at the same time manage to teach you a little something. I passed with an A and I never said one word in the class. I showed up everyday and did all the work and I knew I would recieve the grade I did. The only thing that I thought would get me a B was by not paticipating but I got my A. Easy Teacher!!!!!

He is probably one of the few teachers at gcc I'm going to remember.Teaches you about real issues in life and our true,ugly roles in society, something even sociology teachers don't dare do. He's very clear if you open up your mind to reality (sounds simple, but some people just..), definately not for people who want an easy A,but it's a fun class.

Mr. Valichella is the best. He is the funniest teacher I have ever had. I took him during the summer and got an "A". He is indeed all over the place but he is one of the few teachers thats tells it like it is. He makes class fun. I almost want to take another class of his for fun just for a little extra humor in my life.

The only people who complain about him are the ones who are too simple minded to understand what he really means in his lectures. He's a great teacher, take him if you want to THINK....on the other hand, if you want to do 10 papers like a drone, take someone else because you won't like this class.

For an old guy, he's pretty hot. He is out there in some of his thinking but I would recommend anyone taking him. He is pretty cool. You just need to think outside the box. And he's not boring like some of the other one's I'm taking the class right now.

Any student who feels this teacher is an idiot or not competent enough to teach Eng is FAR too sensitive. He is cynical and mean--but he is extremely intelligent. Of all the professors I've ever had, Prof. Vallicella is probably the most engaging I've ever known. He's bookish but at the same time, real. I find it refreshing that he's not afraid to be politically incorrect but not to the point of becoming a dick. I leave his class, feeling I've gained something more than just a cookie-cutter education.

If you are not in class you are not making a contribution. Such a simple concept yet so many think if they do no work and don't show up they should get an A. Keen insights you will learn a lot if you put a little effort into it. He should be on TV or an Ivy League Univ. Best Prof at GCC.

GREATEST ENGLISH teacher i have ever had, just turn in all your essays at the due date and youll get an A. even if you dont hell give you an extension. you take these interesting poetry quizzes which are fair. i remember in class he asked a question no one answered, and he responds in a monotone lazyvoice, "slow down,not everyone at once."CLASSIC

Personally, I loved his class. Yeah he's alittle nuts, but if you show up and just participate you'll get an A. His homework is super easy, and so are his tests. He explains a poem, before he quizzes you on it. If you get easily offended by having your outlook on life challenged, don't take his class. Overall, I LOOOOOVED his class.

this teacher is like pablo fancisco. he talks about everything all at once. at the same time he makes the funniest jokes about the things he mentions. i actually wanted to attend to his class. his very strict about attendance though. his essay assignments help you become a better writer. my recommendation is do it yourself so you can learn.

This class is a life-time experience! He talks about everything and anything. He talks about his daughter and he still cant get over his father disliking him. Easy class! He rarely read your papers so just do well on the final and U R good to go. He cant stop talking about the comments on RateMyProfessors.com and trust me he reads them ALL.

I took his class 18 years ago and feel the lessons learned are still with me today. Take his class, try using your brain for a change you may find once you start using it, it will be hard to stop...

Common curtisy is extremely mandatory just give him the respect that a professor should get and read the assignments Attend and Partisipate respectfully thats all you need.

Mr. V might not teach about grammar and why you need useless introductions to essays, but he will teach you about the real world!This is what teachers should be like! He opens your eyes to the real world, instead of useless BS that other teachers teach you. If your not retarded, you will get an A or B.

WOW! Easiest class I have ever taken. He makes you read 2nd grade level stories take some "quizzes" which he doesn't grade and the final is beyond words easy. He teaches nothing about English just talks about the world and there's one research paper which he doesn't read. I got an A and so did most of the class

He tends to talk about the most random subjects and yes you learn more about everything else than you do about English. However, the poems and stories he selects are interesting. All he requires of his students is to come to class and participate! He isn't anal about essay structure like other teachers and only reads the topic sentence!

If you do not have a sense of humor, you will not enjoy the course. He is a good teacher, but expects you to know something if you have reached this level of English. Do you work, attend class and you should pass. He is even okay with your work being late, but just correct. In all, you can make this course hard for yourself, or easy for yourself. I

This professor is amazing. Had him for winter, loved his class, his speeches, and anything else he said. Attend class, do what he asks, and participate! He teaches you about things going on around you that you don't even realize, he puts it in perspective. He's amazing.

As long as you talk with him in class about anything, he will like you. If he likes you, he will be lenient with you. He's chill as long as people don't mess around. He's a conservative and always bags on liberals in his rants. It can be funny at times. I disagreed with him on almost every issue, but he still liked me because i spoke my mind.

He was the most easiest teacher i've ever had. All he does in call is rant about life, political views, current events, and occasionally assigns essay's which are really easy. All you have to do is attend his class everyday, as he makes it crucial to attend, and just sit, listen, and participate and you'll get an easy A.

Reads these lol Conservative & sometimes crude, but interesting. Rants more than teaches, though is smart (or has an excellent memory). Very helpful if you go to him after class, though he bites a bit. Don't be late and do participate. He's not hard, though for 102 you should put in some effort. Professor Vallicella is one of the most amazing teachers i have ever had! I enjoyed all of the discussions.It's not as easy as some people say it is, yet the topics we covered about the current state of society were very interesting. He may not English teach much, but he is very frequent in teaching or lecturing other factors like current events, politics, controversies, etc. I would recommend this professors to any students. Professor Vallicella is a great teacher. Those of you who say "he just talk ****" don't understand the class. He taught me more than just about English, he taught me about life. I spoke with Professor Vallicella numerous times and he knows what he is talking about. If we had people like him in the administration we would be in better shape.

Vallicella is a great teacher, because he is clear, realistic, and considerate. It might seem he goes off topic, but everything he speaks about actually relates. He has inspired me to questions everything I hear and read about. Just by hearing him speak you will gain knowledge.

Professor Vallicella is amazing. He really taught our class not only about literature in poetry, but about life! We strayed off topic a lot in class, yet somehow it always correlated. Time really flew by in this class. He's realistic, and is more than fair to the students he truly believes have some sense! Totally different when one on one.

In a way, he's class is easy because he has his own structure for essays but in the other way, it is not easy because the structure that he prefers is not the same as you have learned from the other english teachers. However, he's clear about what he wants in your paper so it's not a problem but just be careful about the grammars. Very nice prof.

He is quite a character! From what he says you will think he is heavily republican, but i think he just enjoys pushing everybody's buttons and pissing off people. Very fun class. Definitely recommend him:)

He is an incredibly wity man. As the other comments suggest, I don't think he means half the things he says. He is just of the bull sh!t bureaucracy from administration. He truly has the capacity of being an amazing teacher. But sadly, he is retiring. So, it's unlikely he will have any incentive to give a darn.

Professor Vallicella is the best!!!!! He's funny and extremely knowledgable, so you will never be bored plus you'll learn so much from him. LOVED the class! With that said, don't assume that it's going to be super easy, you have do your part. He's fair in his grading but he also expects college level writing so be prepared!

This was probably the least demanding class I've ever taken.Ever.It was nice,though.We'd read a few poems at home each week and then come to class and just talk about them.No busy work.We had 2 papers and the final exam,and he's a pretty easy grader. Great sense of humor for those who aren't easily offended.He's probably George Carlin's # 1 fan.

Sign up now before he retires don't miss this great class you will regret it if you do. The book is a must its like $10. You cannot fail this class if you do then you should quit school, very interesting, very knowledge,very funny.
