soo boring and cant miss a class or you'll fall way behind. he has feet problems.
his class is so easy I didn't even have to buy a book and I got an A
Mr. A is the best teacher I have ever had! He is so nice and sweet. He always makes sure everyone understands and takes it really slow. Take him if you aren't good at math and take him if you are because he will be challenging at times, but he is good!
Mr. A is an awesome teacher. He is very understanding and always takes the time to explain if you don't understand.
Took Mr. A's class a year ago, just took notes and listen to class, got an "A".
calculus 25B is a hard class but he makes it easy. the tests arent so bad. hes a real cool guy. attendance count
Its a hard class but the teacher is great. would be the only math teacher at moorpark id take. definitly a down to earth teacher. He was into PS2 when I took him
Easy to understand, will help you if you need it, never any surprises on his exams. sometimes, problems in notes appear on exams. very nice, if you study what he gives you, you will do well.
Explained things pretty good. Tests were difficult, but not too hard. Final was hard. Grading scale a little wierd. Teaches using projector. Attendence counts. Overall okay/good teacher.
he is an awesome teacher and i recommend him be cause he is a very down to earth guy who breaks down what the book says into terms/concepts that are easy to understand. he rules!
Good Teacher.
very easy to follow
tough class
Best math teacher I've ever had! A little unfair how he docks points off your grade if you miss more than 4 classes. I'd highly recomend not getting the book. He never used the book in class. Maybe once
You need to take this teacher, if you hate math. No homework collected, and gives extra credit chances!!!Hes the best!!!
Awesome, very helpful, harsh on older students, funny guy though
Overall very good. DO NOT GET THE BOOK, YOU DO NOT NEED IT. Do the dittos, punt the book problems. Study the dittos and take good notes you will do fine. Attendance if 10% of your grade, so go. A few wont hurt, but a lot will kill you. Nice guy :)
I had to drop the class, but when I was in it, it was ok.Tough info but he tries to help you understand it.Dont buy the book. He makes the tests off of the study guide. Go to class!!! very fun class/teacher. Anyone who is in summer school now, knows! HI!!
There are lots of formulas you need to memorize but on one test he puts the formulas on there for you. He was an awesome teacher, the best I had. I had a hard time on the final because I did the hard stuff first. Do the study guides and you'll be fine.
I took him for Calc. 25b and Stats. and he was the best teacher I have ever had. He is always willing to help no matter what the situation is.
He taught by example and was easy to understand using an overhead projector.
Good Teacher
great teacher, very clear and makes everything understandable.
I don't know why people praise him so much. He does offer help and willing to explain. I just didn't like his teaching method and his strict grading. His notes is all on slides and he's not clear explaining the material when it's all written down with not work showing. He is nice and approacheable.
If you learn by example, take him. If you want a teacher that can explain why, dont take him. He does not explain things well. His tests arent difficult if you study, that is, if you get past him not explaining anything.
Mr. Abramoff is very nice and helpful. He explains everything very clearly!
Cool teacher, humorous...anything but boring. Makes difficult subject matter easier to understand...very helpful and willing to answer questions.
Very boring when explaining (or more precisely, just putting examples up on the projector) the subject matter. His stories are funny and he seems like a nice guy, just has no clue how to explain any concepts. The book is pretty good at it though, so as long as you keep up you should do OK.
GREAT TEACHER. DIDN'T EVEN BUY THE BOOK AND GOT AN A. HIS NOTES IN CLASS ARE ALL YOU NEED. THE TESTS ARE EXACTLY LIKE THE EXAMPLE PROBLEMS.
ONE OF THE GREATEST MATH TEACHERS I HAVE EVER HAD. KNOWS THE MATERIAL AND TEACHES IT EXTREMELY WELL. HE TELLS YOU EXACTLY WHAT IS ON THE TESTS AND IF YOU CAN DO THE EXAMPLE PROBLEMS THAT YOU DO IN CLASS YOU WILL DO WELL ON THE TESTS. ENJOY, I HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS TEACHER FOR MATH CLASSES.
Dr.A is a very good stats teacher. He does not use a book, so you have to show up to class every day, but the test is exactly like his lecture. There are lots of tests (9 & 1Final) but this is good 'cause if you screw up you have a chance to fix it. Don't take him if you make little mistakes he really takes a lot of points for that.
He is so nice!his tests are a little hard but they are EXACTLY what he teaches so if you study you should ace it. He is nice and funny too he made me LIKE my math class.
He is funny and interesting, but i can't stand the strict rules and the stupid projector. Something about the whiteboard and the teacher walking around gives the class some life. He doesnt explain very well either.. it was my first W because i was doing poorly and now am taking 25C again with 101% so far. I prefer a teacher who can explain the concepts because all the examples are already in the book.
Alright, Abramoff is a fantastic teacher. I'm currently taking his Stats class, and doing better than I have ever done in any math class before. Incredibly clear and helpful. So that nobody else criticizes him for not walking around, he has Diabetes, and a form of nerve damage as a result of it. This causes him to be unable to walk around much - don't hold it against him, it's not like he has a choice.
I had him for precalc too. His teaching methods are very helpful and very understandable. No Better math teacher than him. He likes joke round also ifk the students in the class arent dull. If you study what he teaches you can easily manage an A, because he is not trying to trick you on his tests.
Great teacher. He really cares if students understand the material, teaches class at a decent pace, and tests are very fair. H.W. isn't required but helps to do it to get a good grade on tests, and attendance is mandatory.
No book for the class, but he gives you everything you need. Very clear, very helpful, very nice. I got an A and only studied for the final. As long as you show up for class you'll get a good grade.
He's a great teacher. You don't need a book, just show up to every class and do the hand outs right before the test and you'll get a good grade. Make sure you take good notes, you might be able to use them for the final, at least he let my class do so.
He is a really nice teacher and he writes notes and example problems on the overhead... clear and helpful, the bad thing is that he wouldn't curve the grade ><'' so make sure you do well in all the tests!
Is a nice guy until you have your test passed back. Phil and Partial Credit don't really go together, even though its a lot more necessary with the lack of homework and quizzes to get graded on. I'm sure many people are stuck with lesser grades than they deserved because the grading style was too tough.
I took him in the summer. Not a wise choice, unless its ur only class. Hes nice enough, but he doesnt give partial credit--its ridiculous., for a math class. and the points really add up., so watch out. everyone says hes easy--but you If its your only MAJOR class in the summer, you can just skim the notes, and youll do fine. but he has favs. stupid
His tests are so easy that half of the class can get an "A". the problems on the tests are like copies of the class notes. just change of numbers. All you have to do is to calculate - with a graphic calculator. I think it is ridiculous to give partial credit for this case. For such an easy class, I am not proud at all to get an "A".
He's a fair teacher that doesn't grade too harshly. Follow the directions on his tests to the mark, and you won't do bad. Pay attention to his lecture and you'll do fine on the tests. He doesn't make things too complicated or obscure, and doesn't expect you to remember hard or unique problems for the tests.
He is a very easy and right to the point teacher. He uses a lot of examples to prove his point when teaching. Basically, take notes, pay attention, and do your work and you'll do fine in this class!
he is an excellent teacher, very clear, and teaches just exactly what he is going to ask in his tests. you just need to take notes and pay attention , because he might jump steps in the process, for easiness. He helps you if you ask and makes this class an easy subject.
He is a great teacher. im taking his class right now, and he uses a great method of learning, you dont use the book, just study the worksheets before the tests and youll do fine. hes funny, tells great stories and teaches on an overhead. im terrible at math, and he makes me understand it really well. take him, you wont regret it, he loves teaching
He is a fantastic teacher, he doesnt require a book, but makes one optional. He teaches from the overhead projector, so when you take his test you know that all the material on it is exactly what he discussed, how he discussed it. He does a great job of explaining everything thoroughly, and you also have some times in class as well.
Who knew that a math teacher could actually be good! great teacher! I have never done so well in a math class before. He doesnt require a book, but he does require you to attend the class. He takes attendence in the beginning and end of class, so if u are a slacker and dont like actually going to school, its not for you.
The BEST math teacher I have ever had. His lectures are very very organized and examples are practical. Two study guides are given for every test, examples used are exactly the same as what is on the test- just differnt numbers. He is an awesome teacher, and class is not boring... he has a good sense of humor and tells random, funny stories.
He is an awesome math teacher! Lectures are very organized and clear. Gives 2+ study guides per test, exactly what is on the actually on the test with different numbers/scenarios. No surprises. Actually wants his students to learn. Class is long, but entertaining- tells the most random and funny stories. Final is open note/graded test..
Really helpful and made math easy. Attendance is mandatory gives study guides with each test. Is very clear when teaching and makes sure everyone understands.
Abramoff is a good professor. He often goes off on tangents and tells random stories and funny jokes. Keeps class interesting. Tests are very basic. They never have word problems or tough HW problems. Although, he's extremely picky about your final answer. Be sure to read the directions thoroughly. Quizzes are a tad bit harder. No HW is due.
Makes statistics seem easy. Very clear about what he wants, and what is required to earn an A. Wants all of his students to succeed. 9 tests, which was a lot, but wasn't too bad because the tests were extremely simple and straight forward. Pay attention in class and you won't have to study. All around nice guy. Don't miss class or you will be lost.
nice guy. easy going. there is NO textbook (so no homework!). lots of note taking. it gets pretty repetitive. easy to get a good grade though. the grade in his class is based off of 9 tests, attendence, and the final. the one thing that bugged me was he talks really weird. if he were to say the word "bad" he would say it "bee-add". it made me crazy
probably the best teacher i've had. especially for a math class. grades are based on 9 tests, attendance, and a final. he makes class enjoyable.. tells jokes and stories. If you take notes, you will do fine. Highly Recommend.!! he understands most of the people are there because they have to take math, not because they love it. =]
Ok first of all what everyone else said below is not true at all! Tests are 90%, and attendace is 10%, Class is extremely boring and long no breaks, no book, 10 tests (basically a test every week), no homework, notes are over 5 pages long everyday, no formula sheets for tests, no extra credit, do not take this professor! take another STAT class!
This class is not for slackers at all. He takes attendance twice every day, no H.W., lots of notes and 10 tests! His class is very hard you get no formula sheets for the tests and there is no extra credit. He makes STAT boring especially with his long notes everyday. Take an easier professor unless your an A student.
This class is fastpaced. Took his 2hr class & had a test every 2-3 weeks. Wasn't too hard considering he gives study guides which has test material. No HW but he takes attendance in the beginning and end of class...not a class to ditch. Miss a day, you miss a whole section of notes. NO EC. Good class for fast learners or hard workers.
Strait forward teacher, class is mandatory (for your own good), test problems are same difficulty as book problems. If you have problems in this class its because your lazy. Got and A just by doing the H.W. and looking over the notes.
This teacher is hilarious! No textbook required for his stats class, just the graphing calculator and something to write down notes with. Clearly explains the material slowly and thoroughly. All test are based on the notes. Show up, take notes, study notes, and you'll get an A and learn statistics.
Abramoff is awesome! I absolutely hate math, but he made statistics really easy to comprehend. his class got boring at times, but he keeps you entertained with tons of stories and jokes. He's really clear when lecturing. No homework no textbook. Just a lot of tests and a final. Cummulative final at the end is brutal but it's open note. Take him!!
Great teacher! His tests are straight from his handouts. No homework and you barely have to study. His lectures are very very organized and very useful for the tests so don't miss class! He doesn't use the textbook so your notes are important. Overall, great teacher, effective teaching methods, fair tests...take him!
Are all you people insane this teacher is horrible, he expects you to know excatly what he talking about. he test are really hard. I tried really hard to pass this class i did the study guides and went to tutor several times a week and still got D's and F's he takes points off your parper for the stupidest things. HE sucks
Mr. A is a great math teacher.. He teaches the material in a easy way to understand. I have always struggled in math and I got an A in his class. He gives a study guide before every test and as long as you do it, or most of it, you wont have a problem getting anything less than an A. 8 short tests intended for fresh material to be remembered fast.
attend every class and take notes cuz theres no book, no hmwk. do the study guides before tests. full page notes for midterm and open note final. he explains everything really clear. his jokes and stories arent funny and his accent and volume level is ridiculous but ive had no problems in the class, its not hard, just show up and pay attention!
Mr A. is understanding/funny teacher and he is very organized but the only problem is if ever he missed a step(thinking that you know it) just ask him how to do it . You don't need the book BUT YOU NEED TO SOLVE THE STUDY GUIDES EVEN IF IT IS NOT HOMEWORK. USUALLY IN THE TEST HE JUMBLE THE ORDER OF TOPIC PROBLEMS
there are 10 tests(quests), one midterm, one final including the entire coursework, do each question on each study guide the night before the tests, pay attention to detail, and you will get an A.
This professor is great. I am really not a math person but he made it so easy to understand and he even made the subject and work itself fun. He tells great stories. His classes fill fast for a reason. Easy A.
WARNING! Do not take this class if math doesn't come easy!!! Mr. A teaches HIS version of stats.NO book. You spend every class copying his overhead projector notes and try to figure it all out later. He is not helpful and tutors have no idea what he's teaching. Tests are confusing and he is a stickler for detail. Very hard class!!!
He was not as good as i expected. His tests arent hard but he gives almost no partial credit. He grades almost only on the final answer. This can easily screw you out of an A if your an A student and you know your stuff but some times make minor mistakes. He's good at explaining. Gets pissed off too much. Oh and theres no homework
Wonderful! This teacher DOES NOT MAKE YOU BUY THE BOOK! He does his whole lecture on the projector but does sooo many example problems for each type of equation that you know your stuff by the end. He gives u ones 2 try on ur own in class so that u can ask him then if you're not gettin em. No homework. A lil x-tra cred. Easy, & u actually learn it
He was a great teacher, would explain anything that you didn't understand. He takes attendance so you actually have to go to class. The only thing I wish he would change is how much partial credit you get. You don't get much on answers you get wrong which can hurt your test grade.
This class is easy but it is a lot of work. He gives "quests" (which is really just test) every other week. There is a total of 12 tests including the midterm and the final. He is tricky too. He purposefully tries to trick people. Attendance is mandatory There is no homework but optional study guides that help a lot I wouldn't take him again though
He has 2 MAs in math, but he does not get math. If you are into math (why are you at a CC?), you won't enjoy this. Very little concept discussion. Lots of attention to boring computation and "Ooh! I can do a triple integral!" like that means anything. This was easy. No understand required. Does not collect homework, and I didn't do a single one. A.
I got an "A." No homework. Do the study guides the night before the test's and you will get an easy "A." Teacher is funny sometimes, but other times he is a weirdo. I'd take him again. Oh, and you DO NOT have to buy a text book for the stats class. (Mid Term = 1 page of notes) (Final = All the notes you ever took)
No textbook used. Very good at teaching, makes it seem really easy. Gives quizzes fairly often, study consistently for each quiz (don't get lazy). The only con is that he doesn't give breaks, and the class was 2 hours, 20 minutes.
Don't use the book at all. His notes are very organized and easy to learn from. Its a hard class but if you study you will get an A. Picky grader and bad with partial credit. Tries to make the class fun with stories and jokes. Attendance is mandatory...it counts toward your grade.
No book, no homework, very organized. He takes attendance so come to class. Some ppl said he didnt explain some things well but it made sense to me. Class was fun for math. Use study guides to practice doing problems for test and you'll do fine. Some ppl just dont seem to get stats, dont know why but its not his fault
I did not like his class at all. He is very strict on attendence and tardiness (even 2-3 min late) you get marked down and keeps you to the very last min of class. I had a 3.56 GPA in my 2 years in college and just could not get his class. He is a really nice guy but i was constantly bored. I went to him for help & it was a joke and pointless.
100000% one of the best teachers I've had at Moorpark. I took him in the summer and got almost all 100's on his "quests" (quiz/test) He is very organized and made it very easy to understand stats. He tells really funny random stories in class. This class not hard at all if you use the study guides and dont fall behind.
He's a great teacher. knows his stuff, but you do have to study and pay attention. there are 10 tests total. 50 points each. no hw whatsover and no book. definitely recommend him!
I LOVED Abramoff. He is wonderful. I love his OCD organization, his examples, and his very thorough teaching. I happen to love math, but if you are stuck taking a stats class, take this one. He is so helpful and crystal clear about his expectations on each test. He and Dave Weinstein are basically the same teacher, who i also love :)
Abramoff couldn't teach his way out of a paper bag. He goes on tangents every class and then keeps talking about that for the rest of class time. He just puts up notes and spends the class talking about sports or himself. I learned nothing in this class.
This teacher is great! Disregard all the comments saying he's unclear and doesn't grade fairly. He's very organized, and gives plenty of examples. He will take questions at any time even if from a subject an hour ago. He makes some blunt comments but he's one of those sarcastic guys who keeps a straight face. Take him!!!
He is a really good teacher. No textbook, but a lot of notes. You need to do the study guides he gives you, otherwise you won't understand it on the test. I took him over the summer, so we got a test every two days. The midterm is 1 page of notes and the final is everything you want to use. I definitely recommend him.
best math teacher ive taken, people told me stats was a hard class and after taking him i dont understand why. no textbook, all "quests" based off his notes so attendance is necessary. teaches at an 8th grade level and makes it easy. took his summer course(5 weeks) got an A while working full time.
Took him for stat in the summer. This was a very fast paced class. Study hard and get an A. I got a C in intermediate alg. and an A in this class. Just do the work and study. Every point counts. Even if you dont like math he makes it interesting. Good overall professor. He is a genius.
Best teacher! Take stats with him if you can. He really knows how to explain. He doesn't use a book so attendance is important. Open notes for mid-term and final! Always gives study guides for quizzes. Very easy to talk to and ask for help. funny guy too.
Great math teacher! It was a tough class and requires lots of studying but it was entertaining and fun. Only complaint is his tough exams. He has an awesome reputation for a reason, take him for any class if you can!
Awesome professor! Excellent instructor! Very clear instructions, tests where hard but if you study worksheets he hands out you will do fine. I had to use the calculator version of the textbook to figure out some problems, but most other students didn't use book at all!
Abramoff is really good teacher. He explains everything really well and is always willing to go back if you dont understand something. Do the homework and ask where you dont understand something and you should get an A. Hes a nice guy with a bit of a dry sense of humor to keep the class interesting. Take him for 25B!
The best math professor I have had by far! He is very clear and organized. He cares about his students and is fair. Great experience. Made me pursue math career.
Do NOT take this teacher. I had a tough time with Statistics and I went to him numerous times for help and advice on how to do well in the class, and he just didn't care. Each time I would go to him he became less and less helpful. He takes off sooo many points if you round one number wrong or if you don't label. All he cares about is you getting the right answer on his weekly "quests" and not about you understanding how to do the problem. Barely ever any extra credit or partial credit.
Took him for stats. By far the best teacher i have ever had. I was horrible at math before i took this class and he helped me and taught me so much. If you are going to take stats, take it with him!!!!
Ok seriously, all the good ratings and comments you see from people MUST be math majors because honestly I tried so so hard and would go days without even sleeping to try to pass this class. I ended up dropping because hes very unclear, unhelpful, and his quests are RIDICULOUS. I didnt even have time to concentrate in other classes. what a joke.
I am definitely not a math major. No one said Stats was easy but he was a great teacher. Yes, obviously it takes some paying attention to , to pass his class. But, he is always available to help. GREAT Professor!
Pretty tough class but he is the best professor for it. He is very clear and his notes are easy to understand. You can never miss a class though because you don't want to miss any lecture. A lot of tests with a lot of memorization. Open notes on final. One page notes on midterm. I got an A and I am not a math person.
I cannot believe this guy gets rave reviews. Maybe its easy for a natural math proficient. He makes the class impossible to succeed at. He will never help you, or show an inch of flexibility on any error no matter how minor. He boasts about his own IQ genius & tells the lamest life stories constantly esp. when he sets difficult new prob's to solve.
I've noticed several ratings from people who took Abramoff for statistics which all complain about how difficult he is and unhelpful. In reality, I took Abramoff for calc B (the hardest one of the calculuses) and even though the class was hard, he was clearly a great teacher. Always helpful, friendly, and clear in his lectures. Highly recommended.
Good teacher, helpful, fairly easy but you must put in work. Would highly recommend for calculus 1 take him
His exams and quizzes are based off the notes you take in class. He explains the material well and he responds to emails quick. You need to make the effort to study and review your notes and practice the problems in the book if you are having trouble. He tells you exactly what he expects on the quizzes and tests so make sure to study them well.
From personal experience, Prof Abramoff is hands down one of the best math instructors at MC. His notes are fantastic, and hw is clear and helpful. He has passion for the subject. Only negative would be that he consistently infuses his right-wing politics into the class. Other than that hes awesome.
i was so scared going into this class because i never was good at math. i ended the semester with an A! homework and tests are short and easy. no text book required. just take notes and study and you'll be good to go. he's really easy take this class if you suck at math
Easiest class ever, no need to buy textbook, just take your notes down and you'll be fine. Study guides give the test away so review them!!
Took this class over the summer. It pretty much took over my summer but I feel like it was worth it. The class wasn't as hard as people say it is but definitely not easy. Do all the worksheets and understand them for the most part and you'll get a B.
Clear and pre-written lectures. Tests are usually easier then the homework packets that are not even collected.
Professor Abramoff is hands down the best math teacher I have ever had! If you listen to his lectures, ask appropriate questions, and do the study guides and homework, you will be fine! He also doesn't overload students with hundreds of homework questions, but gives a one-sided assignment to assess that you know the material. Quality over Quantity!
His quizzes are so tricky, but don't let a bad quiz score bring you down, because his tests are directly based off handouts and notes. Study those a million times and you're sure to do well in his class. Always has a moment in class where he tells a story too to relate to what he's teaching. You must work very hard though, like any other class.
Abramoff is probably the best professor I have ever had. He is clear, and his stats class was not bad at all. Just make sure you pay attention and make friends with people in the class. Having help is what helped my grade a lot. He is very helpful, and I enjoyed his class a lot. Would I take another math class from him again? Of course!!!!
I am TERRIBLE at & TERRIFIED of math. UNTIL ABRAMOFF. If you need to take any math class, take him. The class is hard because the subject is hard, but he makes it as easy as possible. He offers HW, many examsless material, VERY HELPFUL study guides(essentially the same as the exams), his lectures are on point(clear examples). He's funny & adorable
I never thought I would be good at math but I did good on most of the tests because he makes everything so clear in the notes. The homework can be tricky, but he will help if you ask. I would definitely take him again!
Abramoff doesn't use textbooks, he is VERY clear and everything is based on notes. I struggle with math and got a B in this class. The class is a heavy load, but you actually learn in this class and he makes it interesting. He starts taking off points for lack of attendance. Tough grader but he makes up for that for his fun personality.
Final is cumulative. Exams is worth 200 points. Homework is worth of 150 points. In class participation is 50 points.
Cool professor who will make calc 2 understandable but will skip steps here and there in lectures. His quizzes are harder than his tests because he gives a short time gap to learn the material but if you study HIS own study sheets you will definitelly pass. I would take him again since he keeps the class alive with his stories and jokes.
Professor Abramoff is probably the best math teacher on campus. He is very organized and has all of his lectures written out. He also makes his own worksheets for each section which helps you so much for tests and quizzes. His quizzes are a little more difficult than his tests. Make sure you come to class and do his worksheets. He's a funny guy too
He definitely gave us extra credit. Even though he says he won't. I am awful at math and got an A in this class. Do NOT miss if you can help it. If you go to class, keep up with all assignments-which are very reasonable. I can't imagine how you couldn't get an A. Also he is very entertaining, I just couldn't stand the loud, rude people...
His quizzes are tougher than his tests but for the tests he gives you a bunch of worksheets with the answers and work to get the correct answers. As long as you do the worksheets and example problems in the notes you'll be good, you don't need to get the book. Hilarious guy, always tells random funny stories throughout class.
Don't take him. He doesn't attempt to make class engaging, simply lectures at you for the entire 2+ hours. HW optional/not credited towards a grade, which is both bad and good. Quizzes are tough, no partial credit, only accepts answers his way(even if you got it right, you can still get it wrong.)Take Topolinski.
Not very detailed in his lectures or notes, yet grades harshly and takes points off on the smallest things. He is a nice and sociable guy in class, but when it comes to his teaching methods he could stand to spend some more time with details, maybe even reviewing questions on the HW, and not telling stories from his past. Course feels rushed.
Great overall!!!
Tests are weekly/biweekly, and he makes them harder than the midterm/late term/final. Gives EC, helpful hand outs, and lists of what you need to know for the major tests. Overall not bad, but be prepared for constant testing. No partial credit, extremely picky grader. Gives participation points, hw isn't part of the grade. Likes bad 60's-80's music
Started slow in this class, but after I started to engage myself and started studying a couple hours a week, it became an easy class. As long as you have a good system of studying with friends or by yourself you will be fine and can get the A. He gives about 4-5 extra credit sheets each worth about 10 points. Very straight forward lectures.
This was my second time taking Professor A and it was well worth it. He is very fair and clear on what he wants. Not an easy A, but worth taking. Very helpful in office hours, he is welcoming and clear while helping. Yes he tells stories during class, but I'd rather have that than a prof make fun of me for not knowing the answer. MUST TAKE!
He is hard, but he really teaches the material well. He is constantly telling jokes in class and gives help if you ask for it. The textbook provides optional practice problems, but is not required.
Has his own way of teaching calc and feels some things are more important than others. Easy class for a B but must be advanced in quiz and test scoring for an A.
Extremely clear, exams are completely reasonable (easy compared to other calc professors), homework is only necessary if you struggle with math. Otherwise, just study notes and quizzes and you'll get an A or B. If you're worried about calculus at all, take him! Attendance is mandatory, but worth it.
Fantastic Calc professor. Quizzes are excellent practice for exams, does not collect HW, extremely clear explanations for problem solving, and good sense of humor. He makes calculus as easy as possible! No "surprises" on exams, and he offers extra credit. Take him, especially if math is not your strongest subject!
People seem to love him but he's brutal about partial credit. You forget to write the differential in one of the steps and he take's off 4 points from the question. His notes are very ordered and he's mellow. Attendance is mandatory. Study his notes and practice sheets and you'll do well. Be meticulous because small mistakes are costly.
Professor A was honestly one of the best professors I have ever had the privilege of taking. He gave out review sheets for each chapter which outlined every problem that would be on the quiz (the review sheets were also worth extra credit). Above all, he made difficult concepts seem easy and was always willing to explain anything confusing.
He is a great teacher with the way he delivers the lessons and answering your questions. I never feel panicked going to his class; all you have to do is the unit assignments he assigns for each chapter then take a quiz on the chapter when it's due. THE ONLY REASON why I wouldn't take his class is because he DOESN'T give half credit. on anything..
Philip does NOT give half credit on his quizzes, tests, homework, and in-class assignments. I've heard from so many others it's impossible to get an A in the class if you're an average student. First day he claimed that every point doesn't matter and it's not going to get you into "Harvard" ... WRONG. My C's should be B's but not according to him.
I've taken precalc 3 times, once in high school and twice in college, and let me say he is the worst to take it with. Although, his notes are extremely helpful he does not make the class interesting at all and definitely doesnt help you figure out any short cuts on ways to memorize things without having to sit there and rewrite it.
Great teacher, but horrible partial credit. Not generous at all with his grading. Stay away if possible
I took him for both 25A and 25B and he is by far the easiest and best calc teacher at MP. He DOES give partial credit on problems when it's reasonable (If your answer is wrong because you made a small mistake near the end)! Problems on exams are EXACTLY like the notes. EC at the end of the semester. Easy A if you study a little. Take him!
Doesn't give half/partial credit AT ALL, so be prepared to work twice as hard, recheck your work, and receive poorer grades than what you're use to. IT'S OK. HE'S WORTH IT. He knows what everything means and how it's related to outside our textbook. He has a sense of humor and shows no facade. He likes to see genuine effort, so don't do minimal.
LISTEN: if you want to build your skills, TAKE HIS CLASS. If all you're looking for is an easy pass, DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS. He has amazing lectures using his beautiful handwritten notes (that are also ALL available on his FB) so clear, so concise, even helps at the math center. Truly extraordinary professor w/ amazing teaching style
Abramoff made Calculus easy and presented the material in an easy to understand manner. There are no surprises on his exams, and if you study, they should be fairly easy to pass.
I almost failed Calc 1 but because my professor changed to Abramoff in the middle of the semester I was able to pass. I understood his lectures more and I studied harder. I enjoyed going to his class and I am very thankful for his help. He really cares about his students and don't be afraid to ask for help.
Wonderfull Professor, would highly recommend taking him for any level math course. Lectures are clear and concise and give you the necessary information to do well in the course. No need to buy the book, he gives practice worksheets that cover all of the material throughout the semester. Study these and you'll do just fine on the test.
This man is a god at teaching 25C, went from dropping a previous 25c class to this guy. He knows his stuff and knows how to make you understand it. Tests are exactly like his notes.
This professor helped me believe that I could do well in math. His teaching style is clear and organized. He genuinely cares about his students and helps you until you understand. He is an extremely tough grader but there is some extra credit. You will understand the material if you take this professor.
Study all the notes he wrote in the screen and you will get A. I didnt know that before , so this reason I got B.
I drop this class because the professor not helpful and his notes and work sheet does not have any benefits also its so different about his exams, I get 67 in midterm and I ask about can give me 3 point extra credit he didnt answer me . Morale has been frustrated after this class. He dose not take into account the feeling of the student.
Conscientiously if you love math DONT take this class.
He is the BEST professor I have taken a class with at MP! I recommend him for stats to all my friends. He randomly gave out extra credit throughout the semester. Honestly, just show up to class, do the examples, and the class should be pretty easy. Homework is never over max 10 problems. He is overall a great person. I love stats thanks to him!
Stats itself isn't the easiest for some, but Professor Abramoff makes the learning environment fun and easy to grasp. He is also very understanding and willing to help if needed. Taking good notes and going over the study guides and will give you good grades on the test.
AMAZING PROFESSOR! Put in the work and you will do well!! Definitely my favorite class and professor at Moorpark College. For sure do all the study guides he gives you .. if you know the study guides you will do great on the test, Its the exact same stuff. ALSO utilize the math center on the 3rd floor of library, Danny is the best tutor there.
Professor Abramoff was a fantastic professor. Not only is he very funny, but he teaches the material very well. I was worried about taking a calculus class but he boiled down the material to a very understandable level. I would highly recommend this professor for calculus!
Great professor. Took him last year for Calc1. He does not really like to give you partial credits but his exams are easy already as long as you study the practice he gives you. Overall a great professor and with some extra efforts an A should be very doable!
homework problems are nothing like the test. tough grader but he gives partial credit, in the end it doesn't do much though. For our final he made us DRIVE to his house during a specific time frame to drop it off. IMO, this guy exceeds too much for undergraduate community college.
By far my absolute favorite class I've taken in MC. Prof Abramoff has amazing, in-depth lectures, and makes it easy to Ace his class. His teaching is extremely detailed, and he makes everything easy to digest. You have to work for an A, but that means studying for tests. Your grade is made up of 5 tests, EC, and the final. Please take him!
Professor Abramoff was a wonderful teacher and taught very well! His tests are similar to his practice tests.
His tests are practically direct copies of his practice problems which there are plenty of, makes it very straightforward to study and know exactly what will be on test. No tricks no bs. Funny guy, answers all questions, no problems whatsoever. Wish I had his teaching style for all of my classes.
Tests are straightforward and essentially come straight from his problem sets for each unit. If you can do these you will succeed. Has two extra credits that can really help you. You won't regret taking!
Funny and engaging lectures. Your grades highly depend on the test scores which are very similar to the homework problems. Do them and you will be fine. The extra credit assignments toward the end of the semester help to raise your grade. The tests are not curved but the average is pretty high so it is very reasonable. Ask questions during class.
I wish Mr. Abramoff taught every math class! He's a joy to learn from. His love for the material is obvious and he makes a difficult class engaging. His test questions match the moderate-to-difficult homework problems. He is a generous grader. Extra credit opportunities make it very realistic to get an A. His stories are hilarious! Take him!
Great professor doing his best to make you learn the material. Notes & homework available online and reflect most tests. Grade is based only on tests and two EC assignments so practice the material via his homework. Crucial to do well on majority of the tests since there aren't a lot. Final Exam is basically take-home but taken in final class again
He made 25C relatively easy, especially compared to 25B which is a nightmare to take at Moorpark. I wish he taught more classes cause he's probably overall the best math teacher there. He mostly just gave formulas without touching much on proofs, but provides a lot of practice opportunities. Just be prepared for his exams and you'll be fine.
He's definitely one of the best math professors on campus. One thing is he's got crazy energy and gets distracted talking about himself and trying to make jokes. He's basically the Micheal Scott of math professors. There's a total of 5 exams and 1 final. Overall he's a smart and fun guy, but gets distracted sooooo often lol.
I can see how it may work for some people, but not all. His class is 100% based around his lecture. The notes are on canvas but they're incredibly vague, so if you don't listen in class you will fail, as he doesn't follow textbook. I personally have a learning disability, and the class wasn't very well accomidated for it so I didn't do very well.
The Key to success is his lectures, He makes the basic notes available online, but the way to understand is to pay close attention to his lectures he shows you tips and tricks in the lectures. The worksheets he creates for each chapter are very close to the material on the test. so if you can do the worksheets you will do well on the test.
Did all homework, worksheets, practice tests and readings. Curveball questions on the exams, and also for some reason decides to plays his music on the class speakers while we're trying to take an exam. It's distracting and makes things much harder than they should be. Unfortunately he's the department chair, so there's no one to complain to.
While I understand maybe a few of these complaints, I had no issues with him. Sure he's difficult, but it's calculus, it isn't supposed to be easy. Maybe these people are mad that they're not doing good and taking their anger out on here or maybe I'm missing something. Either way I thought he was solid teacher and had a pretty fair system.
The professor is funny and compared to the rest of the professors at Moorpark I understand the material so well. But he grades harshly and gives little partial credit. But too me when I was comparing my answers with a classmate my answers were closer to being correct than to my friend and they got more credit than me. I'm assuming he is biased lol.
His ratings were much lower before this website took most of them down over some complaint last semester. I didn't realize they censor on here for being "too negative". Had a 3/5 with a 4.2 difficulty just so you know the truth.
This guy is funny and a good teacher, however he grades super harshly and has favorite students. My answers were very close to the right answer but did not receive partial credit. My friend on the other hand did not get the right answer but got more credit than me despite I was closer. He never liked me so yeah; this guy has favoritism.
The only things that get graded are the five exams and the final. The date for one of the exams was announced only 2 days beforehand, giving me no time to seriously prepare. He grades ridiculously harshly and if you don't get the answer exactly right, there's pretty much no partial credit. This was the only class I have ever failed in my life.
Professor Abramoff was an amazing Calc II professor. I've always heard that Calc II was the most difficult in the series, but he made all the concepts so easy to understand. The tests were reasonable in difficulty, and rarely thew any curveballs. Always try to go to office hours and work through hw, it'll give you a better chance at a good grade.
Obviously the class is difficult, but it is calculus and its going to be hard. This class was my favorite class of the semester because he is an engaging speaker, taught the material well, and made a difficult subject easier. Even though your grade is mostly based on tests, there was an extra credit assignment, which really helped my grade.
Professor Abramoff can be entertaining, but his grading is harsh. Attend class, do the worksheets, and use Unstuck ai - it helped me understand the concepts better. Tough class, but manageable with dedication.
Mr. Abramoff is a great professor! If you need help, he will walk you through it. Attendance is 1/9th of your grade so if you're absent more than 3 times; you'll get dropped. He does give extra credit. I took this for math in liberal arts. No notebook needed. OPEN NOTES FOR THE FINAL EXAM. No quizzes. Participation is key. Heavy lectures!
